Review Horse On Heels - Fitzroy

Place was really cozy and theres indoor and outdoor area (still under the roof). The food was okay. The waffles are soft and yummy whereas the omelette was normal.

The most beautiful restaurant :D) So beautiful natural wood based inertia makes our family so cosy and comfortable.

The place is super cute and the food follows suit! Got a belgian waffle with house made butter and rhubarb coulis, which was great and at a really good price! The coffee was very good too.

Awesome breakfast. Interesting flavors different from the usual. Tasty and we'll priced with a chilled atmosphere.

These guys have waffles down to an art form. Beautiful, thought out dishes, delicious flavour combinations for vegos and omnis alike! Loved it thanks guys!!

Make sure they got your order right. You might end up with toast instead of waffles. Or a different kind of waffle.

Yumminess & cool setting!

Loved the waffles here, crispy and there were different varieties to choose from. I had the salmon one this time and it was quite good. The small portioned waffles is perfectly sized and tastes better than toast.
The taro latte some may think is too bland but I think it's just right.
Would really like to try their sweet waffles next time.
One thing to remember is their kitchen closes quite early.

Brunch with baby here today! Waffle was pretty amazing, but the popcorn chicken was just alright, expected it to be crunchy and crispy! Overall it was good, good ambiance and music! Lovely Sunday~
Bubbles
Amazing waffles with awesome texture. Pop corn chicken goes well with the waffles. Nice environment. Rooms for improvement on customer service.

Great savoury waffles and wonderful coffee. Unlike other cafes in the area, it was not as busy, therefore it was the perfect place for a couple of friends to catch up over brunch.
Southside Melbourne
Botched it.

After placing our coffee order, coffees took 45 minutes to arrive and some coffees were not delivered at all. At this stage there were a total of 14 people in the restaurant.

Food for our 8 person brunch came out one meal at a time over a 40 minute period between the first and last meal.

We had to ask for cutlery. They brought out 7 sets for our 8 person sitting.

They provided us with a pepper shaker with no pepper in it.

They forgot the eggs, a key component of the avocado dish. They provided these on a small plate and were extremely runny. The sort of poached eggs you make when you do them at home very badly.

The chilli in the waffles were not evenly spread out in the lamb shoulder dish which made half of the dish overly spicy and unenjoyable.

You could be fooled by the modernistic styling of this cafe. But don't be. The staff don't appear to be trained and had trouble with getting the basic food and drinks on offer to our table.

The food was half decent but was botched by third rate service unfortunately.

There are a plethora of great breaky and brunch spots within a stones throw. We would highly recommend you go to one of these instead.

What a cute concept and cafe (and name)! Horse On Heels does savoury and sweet waffle dishes with a twist. The staff are really friendly, and the place is surprisingly not busy at all and quite relaxed. The popcorn chicken waffle had delicious fried chicken and sauce. I don't like the taste of coconut so I passed on trying the black charcoal coconut waffles. The pulled pork waffle was quite interesting. I liked everything except the actual pulled pork, which was watery and tasted like the sauce in canned tuna. The cheese and jalapenos waffles were inventive, though the jalapenos were few and large, so you don't taste it until you get a whole bite of it! Smaller bits and more even mixing would have been nicer. The waffles here have an interesting texture... a bit wet and less fluffy on the inside, but that's probably because of the ingredients mixed into the batter. This waffle cafe is a lovely side step from the typical brunch cafes.

Perfect cozy cafe in Fitzroy. Really excited to try their savoury waffles and didn't disappoint.
The popcorn chicken waffles with some extra avocado tastes perfect. Their homemade churned butter tastes excellent as well. Definitely will come to this place again to try other stuffs from their menu.

HEALTHY waffles?? 😱😱 new cafe @horseonheels in Fitzroy has just made all our dreams come true. 😍👅👅 Introducing both sweet and savoury waffles for breakfast or lunch. Millions of options on their menu, head down to get your mind blown!! 😵💥💥 We tried their avocado and pomegranate breakfast on a flaxseed waffle. Tasted as good as it looks!! 😍💚💚

I have been fantasising trying the taro latte and the popcorn chicken here! My fantasy came true and I am one happy woman. Both tasted the way I envisioned it. The service was also amazing! The gentleman who took our order and served us was great. I highly recommend this place! I will definitely come back.

Ordered the popcorn chicken with waffle, kfc popcorn chicken is nicer than tat. Waffle was soggy, the food was blant... and the shitake mushroom omelete was replaced with button mushroom...kinda misleading... overall food was below average. Won't recommend anyone to go...

Fitzroy has always been my favourite brunch spot due to its vibrant atmosphere. Came across this cafe when we went to the artists market and decided to dine here on a Friday afternoon. I ordered the popular caramel popcorn chicken waffles while my friend had the pulled pork waffles. The popcorn chicken was yum but I think the pulled pork can do with a bit more seasoning.

Ordered: ♣️ Popcorn chicken: black charcoal waffle, caramel popcorn, pickled kale & chimichurri aioli sauce ($20)
🍠House-made sweet potato chips ($4)

Food thoughts:
♠️This place specialises in waffles and it's delicious and the savoury tastes somehow all work well together.
On the other hand, the sweet potato chips were very lacklustre. We thought it would've come out as thicker cut chips and not this flimsy excuse.

Atmosphere:
Fitzroy is always a classic brunch place, and the atmosphere is aesthetic - as you can see!
When we went, it was quiet and when you've finished eating, walk up to pay at the counter if there's not many people inside.
Pretty nice place to just catch up and chit chat with friends.
I had this beautiful popcorn caramel chicken with coconut pandan charcoal yesterday for breakfast. The whole elements on the plate were playing around with your taste buds in delightful way, from the sweetness of caramel, sourness of aioli, savoury flavour of the waffle.. it was just really really good! I also tried their taro latte and it was so good too! And of course, I would come back again because I am looking forward to try more of their waffle dishes 👌🏻

I came here for the taro latte, and I was not disappointed. The popcorn chicken waffle was delicious also. My only complaint.. was that I ordered a side that never came. The waitress even clarified which side when taking the order. It wasn't even busy at that time either.. not sure what happened there..

Great deco. Simple. Everything looks so pretty and minimalistic. The popcorn chicken waffle shouldn't work, but it does! Like really really well! And love the kaya and butter one too!
Hungry Rambler
Small portions, hits and misses but unfortunately more misses than hits. The taro latte should come in its own large, no actually supersized cup because it is delicious. Please never get rid of the taro latte. Giving a plus one for the free waffle and coffee deal, as I enjoyed my liege waffle. The fried chicken waffles was a highlight, very delicious. However the pulled pork and the more decadent dessert waffle failed to impress with the small portions and the balance of flavours just falling a bit short. Be aware that you will be having waffles with a somewhat healthy feel so if you are looking to pig out on some traditional waffles with piles of sides this probably won't satisfy your cravings. However it is a cute cafe to visit before going to the nearby Rose St markets and checking out some nearby street art.

The waffles were delicious: we ordered the Coconut Pandan waffles with flower butter & kaya jam, the Autumn fruits and the pork belly waffle. The Coconut Pandan waffles were the best: nice fragrant, not too overpowering and not too sweet. Service took a little bit long, not sure why because the place was not that busy. Overall, delicious and we'll be back!

Visited Sunday 10am not very busy yet just a few patrons all looking impatient and hungry. Pretty poor experience overall. 30 mins to receive a coffee that wasn't mine. When mine did arrive it was 90% froth. What I did get to drink was not bad considering. 50 mins after our ordering time we finally received the food. The banana waffle arrived without banana. The kaya coconut waffle was fine. The sausage waffle was fine except the fried egg had a hard yolk. Waffles not crispy but not bad. Went to pay. Lady couldn't operate the eftpos terminal. Told her several times to enter the amount and hit enter but she wouldn't listen. 10 mins of the terminal timing out she finally listened and tried it. Of course it worked. Will never be back.

Friendly workers & service. Drinks were good. (We ordered iced latte and matcha) food wasn't that wonderful (popcorn chicken/pulled beef). It was good for first few mouth but after that you can't really eat anymore. Felt like it's too much 😢 but I love the environment. Filled with natural sunlight ✨
@twogoodtoresist
Horse on Heels serves hand crafted Belgium waffles and boy are they delicious!! We had the egg, bacon, baked beans and sausage waffle and the acai sorbet, chia pudding, coconut and fresh berry waffle- both were fantastic! The concept behind horse on heels is great- all dishes both savory and sweet include waffles- what else could you want?!
Perry
Ordered from UberEATS. It's for vegetarian although I'm not😂It's GOOOOOODDDDD!!!!! Fall in love with the waffles😍😍😍😍will definitely bring my family in store next time!

Love love love the atmosphere and interior of this laneway cafe. We came in on a sunny, quiet afternoon and instantly was drawn by the grids and stripes the shadows made outside. Aesthetics are strong here. Ordered the popular dish Chicken Caramel Popcorn waffles, absolutely delish. My first time eating savory waffles, I savored every bite and smashed it. The coconut charcoal waffles had to be the best part. They were not overwhelmingly sweet and was the perfect base for the extravagant toppings of succulent pop corn chicken, caramel popcorn and kale. Wasn't a big fan of the sauce but everything else served the dish justice. The taro latte was also to die for, definitely something a matcha latte lover should try. Would come again for the sweet options!

I never knew that waffles could be so great. A good combination of flavours and great service in a relaxed atmosphere. Had the pulled beef and salted caramel and banana

Waffles, waffles and more waffles, that’s what you get at Fitzroy new comer Horse on Heels. Be it sweet or savoury, crisp or soft, the team here have masterfully created a menu that embraces the humble waffle in all its possible forms and paired it with a mix of delicious toppings. Located of quiet Rose Street next door to the Rose Street Artists Market, there is no signage on the building and had it not been for a tiny chalk board out the front, I would have walked right by. Once inside, I was surprised to find that the roof on the front part of the modern space had been removed to create an outdoor area that from street level looked to be indoors. The surrounding apartments block most of the sun, but the space still feels bright and fresh thanks to the plain concrete walls, white chairs and light timber tables.

I'm a local and discovered this place on my doorstep today. Close to Rose Street markets, with an unassuming street frontage.
I had the Meatsmith sausage, bacon and egg with flaxseed waffle. Beautiful ingredients, cooked well and the waffle itself was delicious! The coffee was really good, and the service was attentive without being intrusive- we'll be back for sure!

Is a must go for those who loves waffles.
Personal favourite is popcorn chicken waffle, somehow it comes together so well, the veg gives an extra texture to the waffle and the sweet waffle with savories seems Given better contrast than the sweet on sweet ones. And I love the taro latte, looks milky but it actually tastes taro, reminds me of the Taiwanese milktea. Will try an iced version next time.
The owners are very friendly and me and my friends have really enjoyed the experience in this little cute cafe.

Had lunch at Horse on Heels today and absolutely loved the popcorn chicken waffles! It has kale in it so must be good for you right? ;) I also had the taro latte which is something different- nice aroma with subtle taro taste. The matcha latte was good too.
My friend had the grilled pork belly waffles which tasted decent but not as good in comparison to the popcorn chicken dish (the meat was a tad tough).

Lovely service and beautiful modern interior, our seats were super comfy!

Will definitely come back for the popcorn chicken waffles- recommended!

To the brunch central suburb of Fitzroy comes Horse On Heels, where it’s all about waffles. It had been added to the list of planned destinations after seeing pretty pictures of their creations on social media (which is where everyone seems to be these days). The name seemed a bit obscure, but staff later explained that it came about because the owners were all born in the zodiac year of the Horse.

Have been wanting to go here for awhile and we made it! There was no line which was good for us! The food is as good as the pictures. Delicious! And taro latte is my new favorite! Staff was friendly and the place is beautifully decorated, however it need a bigger sign so that people know they're exist. Definitely recommend this place!

Horse on Heels is dedicated to the art of the waffle. Owners Yuan and Lunnie began sharing their love of waffles at a stall (The Waffle Club) in Queen Victoria Market 5 years ago. After a lot of trial and error and a growing fan-base, the dynamic duo were finally ready to open Horse On Heels, the realisation of their Waffle Specialist dreams!

Ordered the pork belly, popcorn chicken and pulled beef waffles! All were super yummy and each element complemented each other perfectly. Super generous meat portions I didnt have enough waffle to balance it out. Taro latte was good but tad too milky for my liking. Unfortunately, the waffles werent as crisp as i had expected. But definitely coming back for the variety of waffles!

Best Almond Milk Latte's in the area, by a mile!!! Amazing little cafe in a recently opened complex but working in with the existing facade. Definitely worth a trip. The smell of a morning is incredible!

If you've been craving waffles - sweet or savoury - this is the place for you! I was excited to go here after seeing some photos on Instagram, yet when we arrived I was worried as there was barely anyone there on a Sunday morning. I ordered a matcha and the banana and avocado ice cream waffle, and my partner got the pork belly one. Both were fantastic, very tasty and the avocado kept my waffle from being to sweet. My matcha was fine, probably not the best, but no complaints. The service was a bit slow, especially on coffee's, considering how few people there were to start. Aside from that, would highly recommend, and will be returning!

Awesome new cafe in Fitzroy. Loved the fit out and the unique menu. And what's even better is that you can actually book! Had brunch here this morning and ordered a taro latte and the popcorn chicken waffles. The taro latte was incredible- I would go back time and time again simply for that. The popcorn chicken waffles were very tasty too. The chicken wasn't greasy and the waffle was surprisingly light. Great combo overall.

I was attracted by their creative waffle menu initially and the experience was as fabulous as I expected. I tried taro latte and chickpea, avocado waffle, I would like to recommend both of them. The taro latte was flavorful ...so good for me. And It is hard to find taro latte in most other cafés. / The chickpea waffle was suitable for vegetarians and the size was larger than I thought. I love the mix taste of those elements so much. Also the waffle was warm and not sweet at all. Would try other waffle next time. 👍

Waffles are making an appearance in cafes all over Melbourne, but not many places can claim to specialise in waffles. Sweet options are aplenty, but how about savoury ones? Not too easy to come by. Enter Horse on Heels, where we can now find both of these things. It has nondescript frontage, at least for now, but look out for the black-gated entrance of the brown brick Graham Engineering Co workshop, and you’ll soon find yourself in a waffle oasis.

Today thought I'd check out this new place
I'll preface by saying I'm normally not a waffle person.

I ordered
Avocado pomegranate and charred cherry tomatoes with hazelnut Dukkah on flax seed waffle with optional egg
And soy latte

My companion ordered
Popcorn chicken and caramel popcorn on black charcoal coconut waffle
And latte

In the day and age of coffee it was poor. Not the worst I've had but nothing good to write about.

Avocado waffle felt like a very small portion of avocado (approximately a half but small sized) I had requested the egg and bacon but only got the egg. Thankfully only charged for the egg. The waffle was sweet which felt weird with the egg avocado and tomatoes.

Popcorn chicken was cool the popcorn felt like a gimmick opposed to a well thought out balance of foods on the plate. The fried chicken was just fried chicken nothing special, although my companion had commented that the chimichurri aioli was really tasty.

The decoration and feel of the cafe was cool and great. Would it be a place to rush back to no. Was it worth the experience sure thing.

Constructively look at your baristas skills, some of the price points seemed too low and maybe that was a reflection of the portion size..

Waffles !

From western to asian to waffles ! Wow, now we have variety type of brunch cuisines. And yes. This place serves all of their dish with WAFFLES ! Cool isnt !

The place has a beautiful interior design. And its really nice.

Ordered
- Popcorn chicken !
Must try ! The chicken is superb and the
waffle is also yummy

- Pulled beef
If you dont like food that is cold, i dont
recommend you this. Because the pulled
beef is served cold. Not even room temp.
But oh my, I do love the chips !

- Original Waffle
Its good. You can create your own dish
actually. But we are too full that day. So. We
just try the original waffles without anything

- Taro Latte !
Must try ! Its delicious ! The taro is not too
strong but it has the taro flavour there ! I bet
if I have enough room for another glass, I will
definitely have it !

Its cool to enjoy an awesome place with slightly different menu from others. The only thing that they need to improve is the cooking time. The waiting time for the food is considered too long.

Waffles ? Here we go !
Hope you guys enjoy your waffles ! Cheers ! 😁🎉

I was super excited to check out this new cafe specializing in waffles. It was hard to decide which item to choose on such a diverse menu offering both savoury & sweet options. Naturally, I gave into my sweet tooth & went with the Autumn fruits as it contained so many of my favourite foods. It was a Belgian waffle topped with coconut chia pudding, açai sorbet, maple syrup, mixed berries & coconut flakes. It was almost a faultless dish - the only downfall being that I thought the "açai bowl" component was smoothie, but was actually a frozen sorbet. It'd be good if that was specified in the menu. The waffle itself was delicious - the right amount of sweet, crunchy & chewy. All the components went so well together, I'd definitely order it again. The coffee too was faultless - I had my usual skinny latte. I was impressed that it came out hot which meant that I could sip on it over a period without it going too cold before I finished. I'll definitely be back to try out the amazing looking popcorn chicken waffle!! Two thumbs up from me!!
Food: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Environment: 4/5
Friendly staff, delicious food, and an awesome decked out cafe!!! These guys have moved away from their modest shipping container in the QV Market to a modern yet homely café in Fitzroy. They brought along their love for waffles which feature on every dish on the menu - WAFFLE LOVERS THIS IS FOR YOU! you can tell they've fine turned the perfect waffle so every dish served up is so yummy whether it's savory or sweet. Highly recommend!

In Melbourne where amazing food can be found at every street corner, it’s hard to stand out as a budding restaurant or café. The newly opened Horse on Heels has certainly done that for me, with their thematic menu based entirely on variations of waffles, both savoury and sweet. Located on an inconspicuous side street in Fitzroy, its minimalistic décor and spacious outside courtyard is perfect for enjoying some freshly-made waffles on the weekend.
Chris Zeffaras
These guys are the expansion from the small waffle store in Queen Victoria Market. Also been a fan of sweet waffles and this is the first time of trying savory waffles. Have a go with the pulled beef waffles. Was very impressed with the combination and how the plate was set up. Yam chips was a standout along with the pulled beef and the savory waffles balanced the whole dish leaving your stomach to have more. Their sweet waffles is always consistent. I will probably suggest to try the stroopwafels along with the coffee. I think it is a great combination having coffee with sweet cinnamon wafel cookies. Well done ! Will come back again for more.

I've never posted a review, but this is a really lovely place, with amazing food and service! We loved everything, will definitely go back!!

Waffles I love them ❤️
Savory waffles were a first for me.
First thoughts on entering the space in the cool Fitzroy location was wow what a aesthetically pleasing minimal fit out.
I tried the taro latte which was mild in flavour and quite enjoyable and not something I have seen on the menu before which in Melbourne, different lattes are all the rage right now.
I Also had the matcha latte 👍🏻
The menu has quite a large selection of savory waffles and sweet based waffles and when we think of waffles we think sweets chocolate but they have waffles with beef and popcorn chicken which I think is something different.
As a sweettooth I couldn't go past trying a sweet dish which was salted caramel banana and house churned avocado Icecream on Belgian liege waffle which I was a little scared of what's it going to taste like too much avocado ?on a Sweet dish ? Of course a lot of Raw healthy places use avocados in the mousses as a healthy option and in fact you could barely taste the Avocado in the icecream with quite a mild flavor and Overall the dish was quite enjoyable.
Onto the savory dish meatsmith sausage, baked beans, fried egg on a flax seed waffle when you bite into the savory dish the waffle was prevalent in taste my personal belief is the sweet undertones from the waffle did not add to the overall elements of this particular dish. The individual components were fresh and nice tasting and next time I'd try something different.

Serving up handcrafted waffles, Horse on Heels has expanded from their humble beginnings with The Waffle Club at Queen Victoria Markets, to a new space in Fitzroy, introducing savoury waffle options to Melbourne, which we were surprisingly missing. Behind this concept are Yuan, Foong and Connie and their mission statement, waffles are suitable for any meal and any time of the day.
Jess Carey
The menu is fantastic, and it was hard to decide on just one or two dishes – pulled beef, grilled pork belly, avo and pomegranate, meatsmith sausage with smoky baked beans… it’s extensive.
Hungrycookie
Saddle up and ride into Horse on heels in Fitzroy. After three years at The Waffle Club at Queen Victoria Market, co-owners Connie and Lunnie set their sights, on creating a waffle haven. Who doesn’t love waffles? They’re synonymous with breakfast deliciousness. Drizzled with syrup, topped with ice cream – waffles are pancakes with abs. By no means, is there a shortage of waffles in Melbourne. In fact, the sweet varieties come in all forms. At Sir Charles, they arrive bedazzled with multi-coloured meringue, at Mayday Coffee, it’s a warm marshmallow hug, at Aucuba, its potato waffles with a miso drizzle. But these are sweet varieties and no one has conquered the savoury realm.
Gossipgalaxy
After reading so many great reviews, I went with two friends on a weekday and left with disappointment. We had the waffle with avocado ice cream, shiitake mushroom & omelette waffle & the popcorn chicken waffle. To be honest, I thought the waffles were nowhere near what I expected them to taste like. The sweet one was good but not great, the omelette waffle was bland & the chicken waffle was alright. And we were left hungry still as the portions were quite small. Will not recommend.
Where Will We Eat
Today felt like the perfect opportunity to visit a new find in Fitzroy, so MIL & I headed off for the last day of the school holidays to Horse On Heels to check out some waffle action. To my surprise the place was really quiet (bonus for us!) so we settled in for something a little different.
You can go with one of the many menu options, or choose to build your own. We both went with a savoury option. MIL's Meatsmith sausage & baked beans on a flaxseed waffle was great (sorry no pics 😔). I went with the chickpea salad w sous vide egg & flaxseed waffle. The waffles were light and tasty. I'm looking forward to coming back and checking out the kaya jam & pandan waffle or one of the many other options. My only worry is that once you all find out I won't be strolling in at 11am on a weekend again!!

What a LOVELY spot. Industrial without loosing any warmth or comfort. Beautifully minimalistic decor which moves through to their menu. Horse on heels only serves waffles (which I am completely smitten by)- both sweet and savoury!

Big thumbs up to this hidden gem in Fitzroy. I would say the waffles I had in Horse on Heels are one of the best waffles I'd eaten in Melbourne so far. I love both popcorn chicken and waffles separately, so imagine how excited I got when I knew that two of my favourites are combined into one. Topped with the chimichurri sauce which enhances its taste, this dish is definitely my all-time-favourite. On the other hand , my boyfriend absolutely loved the pork belly on black charcoal waffles. We will definitely be back for more!
Shaz Does Food
Dropped in for a coffee and got swayed to try some waffle. Omg! Who knew waffles could look and taste so good?! Didn't have a whole one to myself so will reserve full judgement on the waffle until next time. Coffee was good, decor chic and on-theme w subtle squares noted on a range of surfaces. Really friendly and knowledgable staff and trendy open kitchen kept us entertained and reluctant to leave. Must return w an appetite, the dishes look like real size meals. Yum!

Waffle heaven! Before entering this place I thought of waffles as a snack between meals, usually with some Nutella on top and a coffee on the side. This place has tought me that waffles can be much more. From savoury scrumptious to fruity sensation. There is something on the menu for everyone and the coffee adds to the sensation. Will definitely be back heaps. New favourite cafe in Fitzroy! - update: Just came back to have the popcorn chicken waffle and it's amazing! Every single item on the plate tastes awesome by itself and combined it's one of the best things I had in a while! Well done!!
Miffy
Suddenly felt like a warm waffle on a cold day so I thought I'd just get a plain liege waffle to go with coffee. Coffee was so-so and the waffles were a bit of a wait for a simple takeaway but the biggest downside was that it seemed to have lots of burnt bits all over. Perhaps there was sugar sprinkled over the dough which went into a too-hot iron and burnt instead of caramelising. There was too much char all over one side and not pleasant although the edible bits showed the dough was actually nice. Had to tear out all the black bits which reduced enjoyment significantly.

For a place specialising in waffles, I expected them to be faultless.

Update: Quickly resolved! +1 to you 👍🏼. A replacement waffle got delivered to me ☺️ That was good and I shared it around a bit. You could get more market customers in future!

A MUST GO for waffle lovers!!! Savoury waffles was a pleasant surprise with the super crunchy and light popcorn chicken which was my personal favourite! 😍 And to top it off, autumn fruits waffle as a dessert, with goji berries, fresh figs and yogurt - food heaven! 😋😋😋 will definitely go for a visit again!
Food Comatose
Go on. Imagine what a horse on heels looks like. It sounds ridiculous, yet no one actually gives a flipped Fernando when there are waffles on the menu, not even Fernando. And I’m talking all kinds of waffles. Savoury, sweet or sexy 😉 But seriously, I have found the Promised Land – Melbourne’s Waffle Specialist, Horse on Heels (HOH).
Food Comatose
Since humble beginnings at The Waffle Club in Queen Victoria Market, HOH has mastered the perfect waffle - fresh, warm and slightly crunchy. Now based at a spacious warehouse in Fitzroy, the HOH waffeliers have room to experiment and grow. The modern decor, greenery and spill of natural light make this place a charming addition to the beloved Rose Street.

The menu offers some surprising topping combinations that may stir some reluctance. BUT FEAR NOT MY PRETTIES. Be brave and venture into the sticky goodness of the marinated pork belly waffle. Or even the popcorn chicken and caramel popcorn waffle with pickled kale! (The kale makes it healthy-ish so it's okay).

I was actually not that adventurous (hypocrit, I know) and got the sweet, safer dish on the menu. The waffle was barely visible under the gigantic pile of salted caramel banana, house-churned avocado ice cream, chocolate ganache, rhubarb coullis, hazelnuts and pisatchios. Now if that doesn't make you salivate, then I don't know waffle will. What?

You're welcome.
Stevu
Loved it!!
The coffee is excellent and the atmosphere much more chilled than other nearby places in Fitzroy.
Decor is fresh and relaxing and modern.
Had the pork belly waffle..soo good!
Will be a regular for sure :)

If you want something different for brunch, this is definitely the place to try out. The food has a perfect balance of different flavours. A fusion of East and West.

Horse on Heels is a lovely gem nestled in Fitzroy. Amazing, welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. Coffee comes with a cute little wedge of Stroop wafle - a delicious sweet treat with your drink :) I had the flax seed waffle which was so fluffy and delicious. Definitely a good find!

Really cozy atmosphere complemented with uniquely-paired, delicious waffles that cater to all kinds of diners (vegetarians included!). What more could you ask for. A must-try if you happen to be brunching around Fitzroy! :)

It looked sensational when the dish is presented to me. Generous chunks of chicken with dressed kale salad on top of black charcoal waffles.

A new and unique café in Fitzroy serving specialty waffles. I had fermented tofu braised pork belly on black charcoal waffles, and a very good warm dish on a rainy Saturday. Café atmosphere is just beautiful - white timber, tiled and open - very inviting. Had a wonderful brunch with my girlfriends
MrNitroinsane
Omg I can't even describe how good the whole place was! From the modern-hipsterish ambience to the delicious food. I am a vegetarian and they do serve amazing savory vegetarian waffles

The popcorn chicken and pork belly waffle are the bombs ! The matcha latte is smooth and nice too 💕 Do try their Belgian waffles, it's crispy and awesome 💯 There are a range of vegan gluten free waffle as well! Various choices for vegetarians too 👍 Staff and friendly and nice, had a great morning there. The environment is relaxing and comfortable, best venue to hang out and catchup with friends ❤️
