Review Elektra - Fitzroy

Luke Batiste
Absolutely delicious food. Staff were super friendly and organised a table for our group. So many great Vegan options, and amazing authentic Meat options as well. Awesome little spot to call into if you're exploring the area, or a great place for a date night/dinner. Would definitely recommend, and will certainly be back!❤️

Superb place to dine in. Its really cozy, feels like home. Food is amazing. We ordered Himalayan chai, okra fry best, and vegan platter with chickpea curry. And meat dishes. Beautiful interior. Must visit.

Let me first start with how much I loved the ambience. The decor is so Nepal and I felt like I was sitting in a restaurant out in Thamel (a popular tourist area in Nepal). And then the chai which was so divine. I just cannot find that taste elsewhere. It had a good mix of tea flavour and spices too. Will definitely go back for their chai. The food was good too. We tried the mandala pancakes and crushed avomandu. The pancakes were nicely done, but I did miss some achaar to the side. Will probably try something else on the menu next time.

Absolutely marvelous, finally a cafe that is proud to showcase it's flavour. Colourful, decorations galore and makes you want to explore the Himalayas. Coffee is nice and a big menu for food. Well done 👍👍 five stars just for the effort made for your colourful decorations. Delicious food, drinks..tram is outside.

The staff is super friendly, and the food is great. Portions are not huge, but suffice for most people. The interior is cosy and beautiful. Heaps of vegan options available, including amazing vegan muffins and banana bread.

Beautiful vegan food and service. I loved their fritters and Himalayan chai 😍 The okra chips were a little bit too oily but other than that, relaxing atmosphere 💗

Love the cultural decoration here, the cafe seems cosy and have a positive feeling. My turmeric latte is so good and smooth and I also enjoy my vegetarian mushroom and kales dish.

Seriously one of the best cafes I've been to. The decaf long black is the best so far in Melbourne. The brunch selection is just delicious as well. I would highly recommend everyone to visit here for a coffee & try their tasty meals. Most weekends, I get my coffee here. Their customer service & staff members are very friendly people 😊👌❤

the sticky chai is yum! the coffee is a little too strong for me but i guess its an acquired taste. the chicken momo tastes exactly like the ones in nepal!

Great service and very polite owner, who came and took our order and explained the dishes. We went to try the exiting menu that had mixed classic Melbourne brunch menu with nepalese ingredients and cooking style. Very fresh and full of flavour. Dishes were well balanced and came out quick. Coffee is good as well . But the Nepalese Chai is out of this world. definitely a must try <br/>Definitely recommend the place. <br/><br/>

This place was recommended by a friend as an alternative to Stagger lee’s around the corner. First time up, the fritters were amazing and I was sold. Went back a couple of days later with my partner for Scrambled Tofu which seems to be their most popular dish. Hands down the best scrambled tofu I’ve had in my life. My partner had the Nep gringo and he told it was easily one of the the best breakfast he had in a long time. Menu has great varieties and very unique dishes which you would never find in surrounding cafes. Great fusion food indeed! <br/><br/>Place has a great ambience. Staffs are extremely friendly and take the time to have a conversation with their customers, making you feel extremely welcomed and comfortable. <br/><br/>A true gem of Brunswick street and our new regular breakfast spot. Thank you Elektra!

I go here for coffee when I’m in the area and the baristas are so sweet and friendly! I really like the vibes and the set up of the place. They play pretty good tunes too

I absolutely love this place! They have great coffee and the staff are incredibly lovely and friendly. I tried the Himalayan omelette which was super fluffy and delicious. I will definitely be coming back!

I love the way this place is decorated inside; it's absolutely lovely. Service is excellent and friendly. I love momos so I was excited to try them from here. I was tight on time during lunch so took them away. Unfortunately, although very nicely presented, they were the worst momos I have had. They were too hard, overcooked and the chicken inside was rubbery and chewy. I needed a lot of liquid to go through them. The place was completely empty during a Thursday lunch so perhaps it's better to come here on a weekend?

This is my first review on Zomato. Started using it after moving to Melbourne from Sydney past month to look out for great cafes. Have been to several cafes here( the popular instagrammable cafes of melbourne as well) but what makes me write a review on this cafe is its sensational food and exceptional service. You enter the cafe and you see all the staffs greeting you with a genuine smile no matter how busy they are. Extremely friendly and helpful and you could see the staffs are great at what they do.<br/>Coffee is good but food is on another level. I had the Savoury Pancakes which was their special for the weekend and to say the food was amazing would be an understatement. The pancakes were made with lentils and were topped with avo and chickpeas and few other things. The chickpeas sprinkled on the pancakes were so good that I requested the server if he could get me a small bowl of just the chickpeas. Divine food. I overheard other customers telling the waiter that the hashbrown they had was the best they ever had. So that will be the next thing I'll try from their menu ;). Their menu is very interesting with lots of Himalayan fusion food. Will be back to try the other items. Thank you Elektra team! Can't recommend this place enough. My new go to place every weekend.

Went here for Sunday brunch with friends and the cafe was very busy but we got the table for three of us. And mamma mia what a great experience we had. With a wealth of cafes close by, it is not easy to stand out and Elektra Caffe makes it seem effortless. The combination of Himalayan falvours and western food is phenomenal. Never seen before in Melbourne.<br/><br/>Perhaps the standout dish on the table for me was the Mushroom Choila! The flavours were amazing. I love it when looks and taste are both bang on. Topped it off with Himalayan Iced Chai and hands down was the best Iced chai I've ever had.<br/><br/>We loved our server very much. Such a mightily efficient and pleasant person and he was so good at managing both the floor and coffee machine. He is a credit to his craft and we left an appropriate tip.<br/><br/>There is very little to fault about the place from its ambience to great service from friendly staff and the food was a hit making another return to this place inevitable.

Went there for brunch on the weekend. I wasn't expecting much as the place didn't give out any vibe but we were very pleasently surprised. The 2 guys working there were very friendly and welcoming. The food portions were really decent and well presented, coffee was good and the prices reasonable. Hit all the right spots without being pretentious. Will happily go back.

'Da Bomb' and the rose lassi are delicious. Prices feel worth it. Inside is comfortable, relaxed, quiet and inviting, staff are friendly and accomodating but stay out of your way which is nice. They used to be called Atomica Cafe?
Comfy Chairs
Only went to have coffee with a friend so can’t comment on food. Service was as really friendly and lovely. Coffee outstanding so on that basis alone I will be back. Helped that the chairs were comfy 😄<br/>Got to eat there this time. Friendly service as usual. Cold brew coffee was lovely. Food was substantial and yum.

Blast off... Go to Pluto... I looked up 'atomica' to see where this lil cafe gets its namesake. The dictionary tells me that 'pax atomica' means 'a state or period of relative peace seen as being maintained by the potential for the use of nuclear weapons in a conflict.'<br/><br/>I reckon they skipped the relative peace bit here and went for the damn nuclear. It was stressful here. Walked in, looking for a little respite as always, then the waiter has an attitude that makes me think I've got something stuck to my face. I would not say the waiter's treatment was cold exactly, but it was odd. I opened my phone camera to check if anything was stuck on my face... Nope, nothing there. Ok, let's do this. <br/><br/>Sat down in a corner and assessed the general 'ambience' of the place. With black and white tiles and a board boasting a selection of trendy lookin coffees... what could go wrong. There was a dope looking room out the back that one man was eating in. Didn't know how to get in there. I don't know if it was a private dining room or what. <br/><br/>I noticed a musty smell and spotted a leak on the roof directly above the table. There were tea towels piled up on the floor to soak up the water. I should have left at this point but I am a bit of a shy pussy cat(sometimes...) and I didn't wish to find another place to eat. At $16, the avo toast was $2 cheaper than the surrounding cafes. <br/><br/>Here's the catch: it seems like that $2 counts for something. My poached eggs were cold, rocket leaves were limp and tasteless like they had the Seasonal Depression from Woolworths, the feta was like a lil white punch in the face from McGregor (don't get me wrong, I am a Mighty Mac fan, but it's just all about that initial strong punch with no endurance/aftertaste/follow-through). <br/><br/>The food presentation, with smears of beetroot liquid across the plate, had me thinking of those corrupt Masterchef judges saying 'hey guys, this smearing technique we taught you? Yeah... Don't use that anymore, it's out of vogue.'<br/><br/>I was pretty miserable after this meal, I don't like cold poached eggs. the 2.5 stars are awarded because the man who owned the place was really nice, the place looks kind of cool, and what else...? Well, you can disguise the fake as fancy in Fitrzoy. I'd stick to my southside pad if I had my way. But we've got to get that money somehow
DamoForce Food
Just a small shop on the busy brunswick street. Friendly service. We just had coffee. Long mac, we enjoyed this while having a chat amounst friends. Might have to try the food one day.

been here a few times but this dish was one of the best breakfasts I've had in Melbourne thus far. All the flavours went so well together couldn't fault anything

Went to the café on Easter Monday and it was worth it, staff were very welcoming and the quality of food and service was exceptional, what I normally expect from a five star property/hotel etc. The food was served reasonable quick. Choosing from the variety of coffee beans was another great option as I like my coffee strong and smooth. Over all a great experience, will definitely return when visiting Melbourne again.

Sadly I cannot give this place a higher rating. With one other table drinking coffee I ordered the scrambled eggs on toast with smashed avo and a juice. While waiting, 3 other tables arrived and all got served their coffee and food before me. I continued to wait 45 mins for my order. Sometime I am prepared to wIt, but watching others be seated, served and left before it arrives is below par. The food was bland and flavourless. So dissapointed

I was looking for strong excellent coffee in the Saturday afternoon tea time and targeted to visit a cafe on Johnson street but missted some. Simply because the coffee cannot smell from the cafe plus some don't look outstanding. Walk three suberbs then finally decided to stop without rely on reviews. It was quiet but I can smell good coffee a few shops away. It was worth visit and will be my favourite cafe.

Melbourne is known for good coffee. The saturated industry of coffee-serving cafes currently occupying Melbourne can make it hard to separate the bad from the good, the good from the excellent, and the excellent from the best. When it comes to the best coffee, Atomica Cafe is a definite candidate. A boutique coffee roaster and cafe located along hipster Brunswick Street, Atomica Cafe has been roasting beans since 1996. And it’s clear that the baristas that work there know what they’re doing, and are passionate about providing the highest quality coffee they can to their customers.

I’ve been the head barista at ATOMICA CAFE for 6 months , and even if i’m not working there anymore , it remains my favourite coffee roasters in melbourne , so i went back there  but for food Blogging purpose this time 😋 accompanied by Foodie friends Feedblogspot and penguineats …

Oh dear, what was once is no more. The food was of questionable quality and service sorely lacking. My serve was of the roadhouse servo variety. Staff were pleasant enough, but management is keenly lacking I'm sorry to say.

Googled this place because we don't come to the area much and liked the vibe and look of it plus the menu online looked good, it was pretty busy but the menu from there website had changed but the new one still looked interesting. <br/><br/>I really wanted to like it as the person who sat us was very friendly but the food left a lot to be desired. What was described on the menu as Croque Monsieur was kind of like a ham and cheese toastie made with French toast and the "mushroom ragout" was really just pan fried mushrooms and I'm not sure if there was any truffle oil in sight. It was ok but pretty dry and tasteless overall. My friend had the Mediterranean baked breakfast that came out barely warm and the poached eggs which really overlooked. Coffee was ok, had an ice latte but it was served in a tall glass with seemingly 1 shot of coffee so it was very milky, that might be a personal preference though. <br/><br/>We waited about 45 minutes for our food and to be fair we were told we would be in for a 30 minute wait but we had a direct view into the kitchen and there wasn't much of a sense of urgency. Overall it was a kind of a disappointing experience. Normally don't write such long reviews but from the sound of the menu this place does have potential.

Atomica, what happened? I've always loved this place (great coffee, great portion sizes and cosy ambience), but today I had the opposite experience. I think the place must have changed hands. The staff seemed confused, and the (not very friendly) waitress who took our order came back to ask what I wanted because she had forgotten... There were only two meals to remember. My fiance ordered the El Gringo but without bacon and I ordered the veggie burger. We waited for our food for half an hour, and when it came out, it wasn't good. The El Gringo had bacon and, where should have been a rocket and radish salad, was a mountain of raw spinach and fennel (which he hates). His hash browns were so soggy that they were wet to bite into. My veggie burger was bland and the bun was greasy, but the chips were pretty good. Sauce came in the form of a squeezy sachet, which seemed a bit weird. Also weird was that the manager was wearing a football shirt. I mean, it's Fitzroy and you don't expect bow ties, but it just felt a little too far towards the scruffy side, which sort of summed up the whole visit today. The one toilet cubicle was also not in a good state. <br/><br/>To be fair, when we paid, my fiance gave the manager some feedback on the food and the manager gave us a $10 discount. He was also very welcoming of the feedback, which was good. <br/><br/>I do hope that Atomica gets its act together again, because it's a great little place (and refreshingly not as hipster as other brunch venues in the vicinity).

It took 15 minutes for 4 coffees to ve brought to our table with the dirtiest spoons I've ever seen. Coffee was decent but won't be going back. Toilet facilities appalling

Went here at about 2:00pm and even though it was quiet the service was ridiculously slow ! Ordered the chicken Parma and it was disgusting , a thin piece of chicken (although I'm not sure it was chicken ), no sauce and ridiculous amounts of tasteless cheese. It was so dry I couldn't finish it, thankgod for the chips on the side or I would have starved . Also $8 for a glass of orange juice, waste of money !

This drink, which I believe was spearheaded by Atomica Cafe, is definitely an exciting and welcome addition to the already diverse coffee scene in Melbourne. Not only was it thoroughly enjoyable, turmeric also carries with it many health benefits.<br/><br/>Would Pen

Staff was excellent. Coffee was excellent. Vegan Avo on toast was the best I've ever had...amazing. Good choice to get a Sunday morning started!

Coffee was nice and strong. The baked eggs were slightly over, but otherwise an enjoyable meal. The service was friendly and quick. The cafe itself is simple and fuss free.

Good coffee, good cakes, chips n good music<br/>I like the creme brulee cappuccino n chocolate walnut..😻😻😻😻😻😻😻 it is relaxing and vintage
Tardar Sauce
Cute little simple, no fuss cafe on Brunswick St. Coffee is strong and slightly bitter which I like. The staff are friendly and service is quick. Some yummy looking treats in the window - caramel slice looks like it would go well with a hot cup of tea. There are juices in the window to help boost winter immune systems. The toilets on the other hand are absolutely disgusting and I was going to post a 3, but since seeing the toilets - I'm sorry but that's not acceptable and I'm not sure I'll be back. My husband said the owner kept looking at me on my phone and knew I was on Zomato and would then look at his phone - most likely to check what I had written. As we went to pay the owner asked with great concern, the super generic "how was everything". Pump that care back into the cleanliness of the cafe mate and your reviews will no doubt improve.

Stopped at the Atomica cafe for a quick brekkie and coffee. The rice coconut porridge with apple compote was really great. Coffee is nice too. The ambience is really nice ...definitively a choice if you want to enjoy a quite breakfast

Been here a few times for coffee and really enjoy the atmosphere of this trendy cafe. They deliver dark strong fruity brews that have an unique flavour leaving your palate pleasantly surprised, yet they could benefit from lifting the temperature of the coffee served. The staff are super friendly and helpful as well as being very attentive. Overall if you are looking for a diverse, strong consistent coffee, Atomica certainly delivers the goods and I would highly recommend a visit.

Absolutely love the coffee, food and friendly service! Da bomb was a hit! Couldn't fault anything at all, definitely will be coming back again!

Save your money... don't bother, too many other good choices in Melbourne. <br/>New ownership represents very poor quality of kitchen expertise plus food presentation and delivery. Menu in store does not resemble on-line menu which reads well but not available.  Coffee ordinary, Chai latte even worse, both lacking flavour Melb standards of quality. <br/>Lacks ambiance, warmth, buzz and quality. <br/>Totally uninspiring and disappointing. Walk on by...

PERFECT is the word. Visited Melbourne for long weekend and was told that Atomica specialist coffee house is a must visit. Can't deny the fact as had the BEST coffee till yet. Smooth as silk coffee with top class customer service ending with a friendly walk out treatment by friendly staff members. Will be visiting again soon for sure.

The food and coffee at 'atomic' was great and I highly recommend this cafe. The menu had a lot of options to choose from. I'm coeliac and they catered for my requirements. <br/>We had a lot of fun chatting to the friendly staff as well; the manager came around to check on us a few times which was really lovely. I definitely recommend 'atomica' and it is now my favourite breakfast place hands down!
Milly&Coup
Still great coffee. Unfortunately since the change in ownership the menu and food is substandard. I'll continue to get my takeaway coffees here, one of the best in Fitzroy.

Great coffee!! I ordered a latte here last week and the coffee was incredibly smooth and delicious! Will definitely be returning here for another coffee!

Having made it my ritual to visit Brunswick Street every Saturday for a coffee in the last month or so, I pranced upon the "coffee specialists" Atomica Cafe.<br/><br/>While I have rated them 5.0, they're really a 4.75, losing out on 0.25 for a coffee which I would have liked to been two or three degrees hotter, bacon could have been a little more lean, and music which could have been 5db quieter (but in their defense I was sitting directly at gun point range of their speakers).<br/><br/>Nevertheless, Atomica Cafe is one of the best places I have been to on Brunswick Street. Their staff are friendly and attentive, with a courteous touch to holding a conversation with their customers. They are clearly happy working here, exhibiting individual eccentric dress codes on the job. Atomica whilst appearing to cater for the younger crowd, still manages to attract the upper-middle aged individuals here. Sitting in front of the kitchen door you can tell that their hygiene practices are graded A/5 stars by the council, and that even the chef is willing to pull some extra team work having personally served my food to me with a "you're SO very welcome" when thanked. <br/><br/>The average price per dish is about $17 for mains and their menu offers a good variety to choose from. I was torn between the "Eggs in the Hole", the "Lamb Roti", the "House Burger of the day" but alas I settled for the Turkish Benedict which is essentially Benedict on Turkish Bread. <br/><br/>Customarily, the coffee came first. I ordered a Soy Cappuccino which required some convincing by the waitress who took my order. I asked about the strength of their soy (as I didn't want something too overpowering) to which she appropriately drew my attention to the quality of their coffee beans being a dark roasted blend which would be fragrant and not under or overly powering. She offered another cup if it was not to my liking which only further reinforced how impressed I was with the place only having shortly having stepped in. Talk about making first impressions!<br/><br/>The coffee was indeed excellent and delighted my caffeinated taste buds. The milk was creamy as it should be, the coffee blend was indeed roasted as ordered to my fussy palate. However, the temperature of the coffee tended towards the cooler side of warm on arrival but that may have been the compromise made by the barista when I was rather quickly served moments after ordering. I would have been willing to wait that extra 10 seconds for a slightly more delectable warm(er) coffee with everything else having been so perfect about the cup. <br/><br/>The bread was toasted to a crispiness that left you wanting more by the end of the meal and was well complemented by the perfectly poached (and garnished) eggs and well balanced Hollandiase sauce (which was not too rich or watery). The salad portion on the plate was just right - in my opinion, any more would have been too much, any less I wouldn't have had enough to supplement the mains. The bacon was excellent and very enjoyable. It didn't drip of oil. It wasn't so dry like like biting through bacon chips. Nor was it too salty. My only minor complaint was that it had a little too much fat on the strips but that's something I can live with and I'm sure many bacon fans could do so too. At the end of the meal, I asked the waiting staff to compliment the chef. Deservedly so too. <br/><br/>With personable and professional staff, extra smiles, and a place which prides itself on its New York studio style ambiance this place is definitely worth your time, money and effort. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 hours experience here and would highly recommend this as a place to come spend some relaxing "me time" or friendly banter with your friends and family.

Last update 20/11/2016<br/><br/>Cafe needs a rethink. Poached eggs on corn bread. Flavour bland. Corn bread very dry and even a bit gritty. One poached egg overcooked.<br/><br/>----------<br/>Update. Unfortunately needed to downgrade rating today. Coffee was great as always. But,<br/>- porridge wasn't porridge but rather rice pudding<br/>- bruschetta special had egg cooked perfectly but rocket was unnecessarily sweetened (overly), and red onion took over with me left wanting more basil and tomato. The combo they had didn't really go that well with the poached egg.<br/><br/>------------<br/>Haven't been here in ages - and it's still fantastic. Great coffee and well-thought out specials make this a place we can keep coming back to.<br/><br/>Today's Gringa eggs special was amazing, from perfectly poached eggs, a flavoursome and slightly spicy hollandaise, to the smoked hash brown and simple but tasty pallet-cleansing salad (with coriander which is always a hit with me :))... Just puts me in a good mood!

Have stopped by Atomica a few times purely for coffee. Nice tasting bean which goes well with soy. Service was great. Would recommend a cup if you're in the area.

This was quite a lovely cafe to visit for brunch. I was disappointed that they didn't have French toast on their menu like it shows above, but perhaps that's an older menu. However, I did have the pancake with caramel sauce and honeycomb and it was yummy and filling! The coffee was delicious as well.

Good coffee. Mediocre food. Asked for no chilli; received lots of chilli. Innumerable other places to go in the area before returning here.

Atomica has the best smoothest tastiest perfect temperature coffee in Melbourne. And I have tried a LOT of the others. Made by hipsters. Frequented by hipsters. Be a hipster. Drink Atomica.
Gemma
great service and great food.<br/>being badly lit is probably the only issue with this place to be honest and even that's trying to find something wrong.
Life's2short
Good coffee that Al Pacino would start his day with! I frequent Atomica cafe on a weekly basis to grab a take away coffee. Their coffee bean blend is smooth and strong, for me first thing in the morning strong is what I need. I dinned in the cafe for brunch one day & took photos of our coffees. When our breakfast dishes arrived they looked so yummy I tucked into mine straight away before realising I didn't take a snap! I had the big breakfast and the produce they use is fresh, delicious with plenty of good use of flavours. The hash brown was the winner, not sure if they make it in house but the outside was crispy and the potato inside was lovely and fluffy.

Once upon a time I loved this place. Once upon a time...<br/><br/>Now my poached eggs are served with no ozziness, the food is bland and coffee beans were burnt in my cappuccino. Not a good sign for a place that prides itself on coffee.<br/><br/>Want a different review? Bring back Atomica the way it was. Not the ordinary run of the mill stuff, and not cooked poorly. I can go to my neighbour for that, it will cost me less and the she is friendlier.<br/><br/>Harsh maybe? But I miss being able to go to this place and leave with a smile. Instead now I leave annoyed.<br/><br/>---------------<br/>I go here for the freshest yummiest coffee I have found so far. I used to be a frequent flyer here despite the distance so would come for the food too.<br/><br/>The menu changes from time to time, the updates are also good and so too are the specials.<br/><br/>Still love the coffee. Shame it's so far

Go back 10 years and Atomica was one of the coolest places on Brunswick st.  Very cool, slightly intimidating..<br/>Currently, it feels like it's trying to find it's spot on the strip again.. basically, for me this means that the coffee is great, service v.good and very accessible to the common person (i.e. ME).<br/>So, I like this joint.. gringo eggs, pork pulled brekky rolls.. good brekky / lunch stuff and better than ave coffee
Emily Christine
I just tried the coffee at Atomica and I have to say I wasn't impressed. The atmosphere was nice, but my 'flat white' was definitely a latte in a cappuccino mug. Way too milky and left me feeling a bit unwell.
John Smith
Terrible coffee, over extracted. Meal was late and cold, staff were rude and uninterested. Never coming here again, wouldn't recommend it to anyone
Vivi S
The poached eggs were to perfection. The chilli sauce added to the sweetness of the corns in the fritters, and the cool avocado was great on the side. Couldn't finish the last fritter and egg, but it definitely wasn't because it wasn't delicious, Atomica! I just have a very small stomach and it had unfortunately been already half full before coming over.
The World Loves Melbourne
Atomica Caffe is a cool cafe on Brunswick Street that has delivered on ambience, imaginative food and killer coffee since 1996. Atomica is an interesting place with alternative art on the wall, exposed brick, a black and white tiled floor and often an eclectic crowd sitting around tables or perched at the window overlooking Brunswick Street.

They always have such interesting sandwiches and delish muffins! The capps are consistently good and strong. The service is meh…I’m sure one of them was either high or did not sleep the night prior…talk about loopy. Regardless, pr

The place was cosy, and not noisy! Perfect for a catch up session/just a quiet place for you to enjoy coffee and have a good read. Prem was down at Melbourne for a visit, so WT and I brought him there for lunch! Me and Prem were very close back in my college days, he was always there to hear me out, cheer me up when I was feeling down and being a great company. I don't know what would I have done if I never got to know him in Trinity. WT and I have not hung out together since Trinity as well, and it felt so good to just catch up with each other after all these while. and she also loves going out for food and just trying out new things! WT, can't wait till you're free and then we can go hunt for more good eats ^^ The ice chocolate was the best I've ever tried in Melbourne! The richness was just nice and it t

...by the look of the deep gold, frothy brew, I knew I was in for a good time. The foam was smooth and silky and the line between froth and milk was blurred. The sugar provided was nothing like I have ever seen. It looked like a blend between brown and raw sugar, processed so they were of the same consistency - a rough powder. I sprinkled it over the froth and the gold deepened as it got moist, and it easily dissolved once properly stirred through. The coffee itself was absolutely spectacular! Strong - just as I asked, but not bitter, too hot or cold. The coffee was well roasted, brewed and the soy milk was perfect. It was a perfect soy latte and I ordered a second before we left. The B.L.A.T. came out looking a little small... the turkish bread sandwich was cut in half, stacked and secured with a skewer. It contained bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato and aioli. Despite the size, it looked and smelt the part, and once I had made my first bite, I was nearly convinced that I had g

Staff are arrogant. It's a real shame because I like this food, but the staff at this place I quite honestly find very pretentious. <br/>I was basically shunned out the door at 12pm (half an hour before they said that they close) on Australia Day because the staff member wanted to tune in to the Hottest 100.<br/>I've since been back and the staff are so focused on chatting to one another that one forgot my coffee. Get your act together guys!!!

Cauliflower falafel sooo gooood. Great coffee, great cauliflower falafel, beautifully balanced hummus and avo salsa (if that's what it was called?). I'll be back for more!

Most memorable coffee. I had the best coffee of my life here! Sadly I haven't made it back for more!

As a Fitzroy local for 27 years, I come to Atomica for the coffee, but I stay for the people.<br/><br/>It's the team that make Atomica special. Steve and co make the effort - for the regulars they know our orders. For the walkins- they make them welcome, banter with them and give them the perfect Atomica experience.<br/><br/>I cannot recommend Atomica highly enough because of the personal experience you receive when you walk through the door. From their personal playlists that set the vibe, to the art on the walls that introduces new artists to the Fitzroy community, Atomica - in all its glory- is about the Fitzroy that will always be.<br/><br/>Thank you Team Atomica for your daily hit of coffee (and the personal touch).

Not sure if my daughter and I arrived at a bad time (Saturday afternoon) but we probably won't return. The table was dirt- remains of food, which I cleaned myself after 3 requests to staff. The coffee was warm if I'm generous, and the chai was powdered. Shame, used to be good.

Went there today for a bean burrito. Absolutely delicious! 5 star!

This place is actually pretty good. Staf very friendly and obliging and after travelling overseas for two weeks drinking appalling coffee a coffee here just hit the spot. Brekky also good. Love the back room.

Food, Fantastic... Coffee, Awesome.... I had the Fritters, Eggs & Chilli Jam. Such great value, cooked to perfection! My wife had a Shroom Stack, which was perfect, I could have finished her plate to. The food was just delicious and we will return. Thanks to the friendly staff also.

One of the best coffee places in Melbourne. Excellent flavour, great coffee. Tick tick. Love love. Yum yum.

Best poached eggs for a long time. Best poached egg dishes I have had in a long time with generous serves or crusty bread, and mix depending on whether one orders Benedict or florentine etc.<br/>Coffee is good too, with well spaced tables. But the waitress service is really, average. And if you pride in having great single origin, then sell it, explain it, talk to the customers please, they are paying your wage, for gods ske have some passion and pride in your work?!

Awesome!. The staff are super friendly, and so accommodating. I popped in on my lunch break and asked if they had any vegan sandwiches or wraps.. they didn't have any ready-made but they offered to make one up for me. It was delicious!! -- roast vegetable toastie and served with salad. Wonderful service and very tasssty food.

All I can say is what happened to the Big Brekkie? Why did they get rid of it recently? It was the holy grail of big brekkies in Melb but they seem to have done away with it.

El Gringo eggs yessss. Atomica is my brunch place of choice on Brunswick St. I always order the El Gringo eggs when I go. I enjoy it every time, it's just so good! Perfectly poached eggs, and just the right amount of spiciness. The last time I went I ordered the pulled pork buns which looked cute but unfortunately didn't taste so good. Won't be ordering those again, but will definitely be back for the El Gringo eggs over and over again!! Great coffee too.

Great great great coffee!!! Always like to try something on the specials & it never disappoints. Nice service & always great music playing! This morning I ate my breakfast listening to Hendrix

Black puddding. I had a smidgen of black pudding with scrambled eggs and mushroom, I quite liked it, I've only had it once before and I liked this one better.

Sunday Brunch. What a funky little café<br/>run by a bunch of young staff, who looked like they just rolled out of bed, but you know what, the relaxed vibe works here.<br/>We walked in to the sounds of music and lively chatter, this place was busy!!!!<br/>We were served within 5 minutes, service was friendly and the staff didn’t hang around like fly’s like some do but gave us the right amount of time to decide what we wanted to order.<br/>I went with the French toast, I’m not one to eat bacon with banana but thought I’d try something different, the food was really good, the coffee was ok, and not overly priced given the location<br/> I would eat here again<br/> :-)

Since when is it ok to say can you move that, in reference to an infant, because its on the way to the kitchen. Is there only one way to get to the kitchen? No walk around!!! Service and coffee has gone way down hill..

Choice Stuff. Can't get enough of the coffee great start to the day!
Bean There Done That
We had coffee. J (latte): As mentioned next, the cake was super moist and delicious. However, I think this could have been the downfall of my coffee experience. I think the sweetness of the cake made the coffee a lot sharper and the bitterness was almost too much to take. The place seemed pretty chilled and they looked to have a nice room out the back which looked pretty interesting - but I didn't get to have a look because I was preoccupied with eating.<br/>A (latte + sugar(?)): This coffee was not too shabby. Not my ultimate fantasy coffee (ie not my fave blend) but did the job, I can feel the caffeine! The chocolate cake was amazing and so moist it was probably technically a liquid. Stools at front area seemed functional and reasonable for seating, I didn't notice the others, it's been a while between reviews and I'm a bit rusty. Also, $3.80 for a small coffee in a "Keep" cup!? Yikes.

Worth It!. Great coffee, great food, great staff and an eclectic vibe sure to delight. My fiancee and I ducked in for the first time while on a random brunch date and we've never once regretted it. Plus, a kimchi sandwich? What's not to like?

Good coffee. I ordered poached eggs and bacon which was nicely done and was a 9/10. A yummm place to go to!

Props to baristas. I order decaf coffees because I can't drink high amounts of caffeine for medical reasons and this is one of the ONLY cafes in fitzroy where my decaf soy flat white order is NOT met with sniggers and sarcastic comments or belittling attitudes! It's awesome and I really appreciate not being mocked for it. Props to atomica. Oh plus their coffees are the best around.
Jana
Great Coffee. I adore their coffee. its lovely and creamy. I always have to order a weak latte and drink it before midday, otherwise I can't sleep that night. Some coffees give me a particular type of headache; I assume it must be the chemicals they use. I don't get this from Atomica's coffee. I do take always as the cafe usually plays loud music.
Foodfreak
This has been a regular coffee spot of mine for the past two years. The coffee is consistantly great and the staff are lovely without being overbearing. The flourless orange cake is also totally yum!!
Louie
Awesome coffee. Fantastic coffee. Amazing breakfasts! Quick service, funky atmosphere, friendly staff

Always GREAT.... I've been coming here for years and the coffee and food is consistently great. You guys rock!
Connoisseur John
Cocky staff and pretty average breakfast

Great staff. Just came back to Atomica after a period of absence , what a difference in the staff have to agree with the last post what a improvement , coffee was excellent as always and the food could do with a bit of a change but all the classics are still there try the gringo it's great . Well done for the improvements long may it continue
Penelope
Better since the fire. Love the coffee, staff have improved, lost there attitude since the fire. excellent vegan slice, eggs and mushrooms are great.

At the end of last year, I have this place is a good wrap. I thought it would only get better, with the new kitchen and all, but it's gone backwards. The coffee is the best around, as it has always been. But the food is the problem. The sheer price for what you are getting is just not right. It's cafe quality, not restaurant. Some inspired menu changes and price adjustment is clearly needed here.

Brilliant coffee. Really love the coffee this place serves up. <br/><br/>Incredible
Melbourne Foodie
Just OK. The coffee is good, but not on par with Three Bags Full, Friends of Mine, Seven Seeds, etc etc etc. There's no table service, which is never quite as relaxing as it could be. And the food is fair, but nothing special (again, theres a whole array of new cafes doing it better).<br/><br/>I've never understood the cult following this place seems to have... It's not bad, it's just not great.

I like the upbeat and casual service here, as well as the awesome (I repeat: awesome!) menu and snacks eg muffins, and the wonderful coffee! I even don't order variations here (which is super unusual for me!) I love atomica! Also pleased to see their beans at coffeehead in camberwell which is a little closer to home. Doesn't beat the Brunswick street location though :)
Martin
Atomican. Friendly staff and very tasty food, ticked all the boxes there. Only qualm was coffee a bit average. Plenty of other tasty sounding food options on the menu so will have to go back to try them out too!
Nathan Martindale
This place has one of the best breakfasts in Melbourne. Coffee is awesome.

We Love You Atomica!. Great food, friendly service...... working our way through the whole menu slowly.... have to keep revisiting the favs.... staff nice and friendly .... wondering if the recent menu change included a couple of 'stiffish' price hikes??? - but you are still pretty good value.

Just one of the staff. I know this is a personal review space but when does a review have to become slander (I am referring to the previous review), atomica cafe has never had a 25% surcharge I don't know of anywhere that has. It does do a 10% surcharge by changing it's menu which is abiding by the law. The rest of that review is someones view and thats fine but blatantly lying in a place where thousands of potential customers would read it is just sad. Cheers.
David Loney
I used to like this place, but got sick of the attitude displayed by staff. They should change the name of the cafe to "attudia". Coffee not great. Long wait. Asked for soy, got cow. Was a public holiday so there was a 25% surcharge (what a croc). It's as though if you don't have a tattoo then you're not worthy of entering.
Karma Clarke
Beautiful coffee and lovely staff.
