Review Moo Chi In Fusion - Fitzroy

Chicken ribs were tasty and really generous. We were stuffed by the time mains came. Beef rendang was nice and spicy.

Food is great, and the staff are super friendly and attentive. We went on a weekday night for the buffet dinner - the service was impeccable as the wait staff were quick to notice our needs (e.g. extra chili) and even entertain our kids! Granted it was still a bit quiet as we were early, but I believe the service would still have been excellent even if it were busier. The buffet was good value for money - the variety wasn't a lot but the quality of the meat was excellent. All in all an excellent experience.

Look, at the end of the day, all-you-can-eat for $35, including their entree menu... What are you going to expect? The entrees were nice, we particularly enjoyed the spring rolls, lemon chicken, and tofu. However the main part of the show, the meat selection, was a bit lackluster. The chicken and pork were both great, however the beef was clearly previously frozen as there were signs of freezer burn (grey spots that taste very rubbery when cooked). I also feel that there should be some more options for seasoning/sauces for the meat. To be honest, if I was reviewing on food alone, I'd probably be giving 2 stars, maybe 3, BUT, the service was easily among the best of any restaurant I've been to in recent memory. Our service was attentive, friendly, talkative, happy to help, and something definitely out of the ordinary for asian all-you-can-eat: happy to get us as much food as we wanted. No stingy-ness whatsoever. He seemed disappointed when we were full. All in all it was still a great experience and the service seriously made the night.

Price was good but service was soso and quality of food was not the best but if we paying this price we can't respect more fear enough.

Worst restaurant experience. We waited half an hour to get a hotpot after our appetisers while other tables that were seated after us received theirs first. We were regularly ignored by the waitresses. The serving sizes are ridiculous. For a six person table it would have more sense to provide larger portjons of meat however we had to continually order these small servings. All the appetisers came to us cold, the beer was room temperature and the rice was undercooked. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The shabbu shabbu was good. It was all you can eat buffet style but they were stingey on the enoki mushrooms. We were told they had "none left" after the first serving. Miraculously a 2nd bunch was found. The donburi and kasudo wasn't. The portions changed since the first time when went there. There was overall less salad and less meat in the donburi and the rice was not japanese rice. Additionally, you now do not get soup with your order. The soft shell crab was terrible - seems like the chef under cooked it and it was full of oil inside the crab. First time we had it. It was good portion serving, crunchy and the inside wasn't watery. Second time we went there: soft under cooker and when yoe bit into it oily bad tastes. The restaurant was under staffed - staff were friendly but they need a better attitude - mains came out before entres - cosy place

Really great experience! I've eaten here almost every day since I've been in town. The owner is so nice & gives great recommendations. The prawn dumplings are delicious & really affordable!

Had the $35 buffet. Delicious. Food kept coming. Staff were very friendly. We sat in a booth and it was very private. Would definitely go again.

Major props to the selection of side dishes that you can order endlessly because they're definitely a change from the grilled meat and shabu shabu. For the price of $35, the quality is still good and depending on the night, quite plentiful. Service was very accommodating even to the point of closing (yes we stayed that long). Would definitely recommend for gatherings

Very reasonable price. Good environment. Friendly and helpful staff. Every of my friends happy with it. Definitely we will come back here again.

Solid 3.5, the meat was good, sadly they ran out of wagyu! So they gave us what they had, only 2 trays, and very kindly didn't charge us for them. The miso soup boiled down to a tasty salty almost gravy-like liquid, udon noodles went really well in that. The sides were ok, the best one is the chicken ribs yum! The waitress was also really accommodating and friendly, always asked if we were ok and had enough of everything. Will go here again if I am in the area with a hot pot craving.

Originally, I was going to rate this place a 1 but since the waitresses were so friendly, I decided to bump it up by 0.5. We came for the $45 wagyu set where you get unlimited side dishes, wagyu & other types of meat. My partner and I order a few side dishes to kick start the metabolism and they weren't too shabby. However when the soup base for the shabu shabu came out it was VERRRY bland. They provided salt and chilli powder to help flavour the soup which didn't help unfortunately. <br/><br/>Now for the meat. The supposed pork belly was not pork belly. After cooking it in the soup it came out extremely tough and really difficult to eat. For the unlimited wagyu - when you say unlimited wagyu, I'm expecting unlimited wagyu. The first 3 wagyu portions were perfect! Had great marbling and it melted in your mouth. When the 4th wagyu serving came out, there was barely any marbling on it. I was a bit worried about the quality of the meat but the waitress reassured us by saying it was a different cut of wagyu. I can tell you now, that it wasn't. It wasn't close to being wagyu. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and opt to order another serving and this time round, you can definitely tell that it was no longer wagyu. You can tell by the pictures ive uploaded that there are different qualities of beef. I believe they decided to cut us off from the wagyu and started to give us ordinary beef which is so unacceptable. If I wanted just normal beef I could have went for the other set but we didn't! <br/><br/>I would not recommend going for the wagyu set. If you're fine with ordinary beef the by all means go for it. But don't bother with the wagyu, it's a joke.
Thuyteeisaboy
Came here for the Shabu Shabu all you can eat Wagyu set for $45. The place wasn’t busy for a Saturday night we made a booking but it wasn’t necessary. Staff were friendly and helpful. The stock was bland but we were instructed to flavour with salt and chilli at the start. The Wagyu beef were decent, I didn’t like the normal beef sliced from the less premium set option though so would recommend the $45 option. Didn’t like the pork either. The sides were quite good , I enjoyed the fried chicken and kimchi. My bf liked the meal more than I did so overall it was a pleasant meal.

Went to Moo chi for 2nd wedding anniversary, my wife and I had the $45pp buffet which included the wagyu beef.<br/><br/>I'll start with the entrees which we had which were takoyaki, chicken ribs, seaweed salad, Japanese pancake, croquettes. Everything besides the Japanese pancake was quite delicious. The wife and I love takoyaki and it was the highlight of the dinner.<br/><br/>Then the BBQ came out with the veggies and meat. The biggest let down is that the meats are not marinated at all and are quite bland after cooking. You are given a tray which consists of soy sauce, kewpie mayo and a chilli and crushed garlic mix. But none of these sauces can liven up the cooked meat.<br/><br/>So while the parking, location and ambience of the restaurant were good the overall experience was a less than average outing as my tastebuds were only mildly satisfied (saved by the takoyaki).<br/><br/>I think if the meats were marinated and they had sauces which brought even more flavour to those meats the restaurant could be do much better. So saying that I will never know because I would not come back again.

So I dined here with 3 others for the unlimited wagyu deal a few nights ago and honestly, the actual meat for the hot pot/kbbq wasn't THAT great and only a few of the appetisers were noteworthy. Also, considering the price, it may not seem worth it to some and completely understandable but we all left with major food baby so LOL. But the service and the ambience made up for it!!! Both the owner and the waitress were incredibly sweet with us throughout the entire night and the whole graffiti art underneath the bricks thing is a brilliant idea! Was absolutely gorgeous and really gave the place some quirk. So if you are after quality meat for your kbbq rather than the all you can element, I suggest this place might not be for you.

Lets just skip this place okay. We went for the Ayce Wagyu, expecting so much but so disappointed. The deal came with unlimited appetisers (seaweed salad, chicken wings, fried chicken, croquettes and takoyaki were nice) and unlimited veg set. The shabu shabu made me sad. We were a group of 5 and we were given 1 pot, so so small. The meat (chicken, pork, beef and wagyu), were sliced thinly so they cooked fast. Beef and wagyu honestly tasted meh so what's the point of us paying more for this deal? We had to eat lots to justify spending 45 bucks here pp.
Suzysays
<br/>Staff was friendly but Service was slow. Appetisers didn't taste great. Shabu Shabu was very bland and there was little variety to dip. Prefer going to something like FOF rotary hot pot . Not in a hurry to return for 35$ a head
Yoavly Yin
The place is great, the food and service are awesome. As the owner really care about their customers. Really recommended everyone to try out their buffet, as the price is really good and reasonable for the amount of food that you allow to eat.
Justine Jopio
They had me at All You Can Eat. We seriously were full just by the sides alone. But as soon as the Shabu Shabu arrived, our appetites soon came back. The hot pot and the meat itself are a bit on the bland side but we found a way around it by adding kimchi to the soup.
Notevenpicky
All you can eat, some things are a little above average most are not. The design of the hot pot/bbq looks cool and unique but actually quite a bad idea, since the pot is not deep or wide making things hard to cook and the broth either spilling or needing to top up constantly. The hot pot broth was flavourless, meat was chewy and bland, the best thing was probably the chicken wings starter.<br/><br/>However staff was super nice and accomodating, the place is cute and if your not looking for a good food experience but a chill get together with your friends, talk and eat for hours i think this place is it.

All my life has been about Korean BQQ, until I tried this neato of a place which serves Japanese cuinsine, most importantly ALL YOU CAN EAT at $35 per head. I made a reservation, yes you guessed it (or not) through Zomato and it was a seemingly, smooth process. I even had to call up to let the staff we might be a tad 15 mins late but eventually we came right on the dot. Their service from the phone and throughout the whole dining experience was truly attentive and transparent. <br/><br/>My group of friends and I were seated in a booth with a set of privacy curtains. We came for the Shabu Shabu experience (known as Japanese BQQ/hotpot) we also ordered two rounds of entrees and my favourites were the fried wontons, kimchi and the fried chicken. I've also heard the seaweed salad is a must get, so get it since I didn't try it but my friends did. The Shabu Shabu experience was also nicely described by the staff who would bring out the plates and name all the food we ordered, including our entrees. You can choose your meats to cook on the stove accompanied with other stock goodies. It was a really-pleasing experience. <br/><br/>We were also luckily to be seated where we had full view of the wall art which was hectic to view in terms of both detail and display. <br/><br/>If you do come here for the all you can eat experience eat as much as you want, bloody go for it. I wish I ate more and 2 rounds of the Shabu Shabu and entrees was worth it for it was, as I could've had more but I had to be somewhere else in a jiffy. <br/><br/>The only negative, is that this place is situated away from the city. Prepare for quite a trek if Fitzroy isn't your area.
Kevin Jin
Went for their Shabu Shabu buffet on a Monday night. Wasn't too bad actually. Food was alright, service was beyond amazing. The male at the front was super accomodating and the waitress there (Japanese lady) was just as amazing. <br/>The only downside would be their selection of food for their buffet. We were limited to slices of beef, chicken breast and pork. There wasn't that much vegetables either. <br/>Other than that, their food wasn't bad. They offer Sushi (only one kind - salmon cucumber), and a lot of other Japanese snacks/entree.<br/>Altogether costed us $35 per person. I would give it a 4 if they had more varieties.
Harmony
Love the ambience of this restaurant and the layout, does really make you feel like you're dining in Japan with the curtain divider from our table to the rest of the restaurant. Service was good, very accomodating. The food was great! Bbq Shabu Shabu with unlimited refills on everything, yes please! Highly recommended!

The ambience of the place is super adorable. We sat in a cubicle sort of area where there were walls and curtains to allow privacy.<br/>Booking was extremely easy. Came as 6 people and as soon as we arrived we were serve promptly. <br/>Service is extremely impeccable. The girls who served us were constantly making sure we had our food and took orders quickly. The service was definitely one of the best parts of the dinner. <br/>The portion sizes that came out were quite small and we had to order double of everything but they came out quite quickly so it was okay. The meat wasn't amazing, they could definitely use some marinade as they were quite bland even in cooked in the stock. Well worth 35$ considering the amount of entrees and meat available. Highly recommend this restaurant

The gyoza are worth 5 stars alone as is the fried rice and starters. Nice quiet restaurant with a very decent by the glass wine list.<br/><br/>Everything you could ask for from a neighbourhood Japanese.
Jonno
Great place, the ambience is awesome, service staff are fantastic, very courteous. Ingredients are very fresh and high quality, all the meat looked like premium products, thinly sliced for shabushabu or BBQ. Although when the restaurant gets busy things can get a little slow, I'm sure this would improve in future. One thing I could suggest is maybe provide different dipping sauce to have a wider variety.
Andrew Hui
Poor service. Ignored for most of the night. Only given 2 small plates at a time while all others had 4 plates / table. Each plate was extremely small and our plates were consistently empty for some time before being offered a refill.

Used a voucher here. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was good, as were drinks. Great atmosphere and tastefully decorative. Would definitely come back

Closed for renovation! Why are you advertising in scoopon and wasting people's time! Highly dissatisfied with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MariaN
Not really worth the time, effort or money. Great idea for cuisine and nice place but food was a total let down. 👎 The famous 'Angry Bird' which is fried chicken just tastes bland and oily. The dumplings were not that great either. Lack of selection in beer and wine also which was disappointing.
Pat P
Would highly recommend them for their service and food. Loved the Angry Bird, Black Bean Pepper Lamb, and Chicken Curry. Would definitely come back!
@forfoodiesake
Amazing new place with great house wine and awesome dumplings.. The chicken entree is superb and the owner was warm and welcoming. It was a rainy Tuesday night and the place had 5-6 full tables. Great spot. Will go again

Great meal, lovely staff. Crispy tuna rolls for entree were delicious!<br/><br/>Food was great, we had the lamb and black bean sauce and ribs, both great.
James Cook
Friendly service, well priced, great food! The chicken ribs and fried dumplings are a must. $2 happy beers before 6.30pm so good! A great local choice.

I went to Moo Chi Fusion for lunch after one of my workmates raved about their dumplings. They deserved every bit of praise and by the time I'd finished mine, two more of my colleagues had gone to buy their own.<br/><br/>Last night I went there for dinner and it was fabulous. We ate more dumplings, and shared several entrees. Standouts were the soft shell crab brioche and chicken ribs. I could eat them every day! <br/><br/>I love the vibe here - there's such a lovely feeling that they really want you to enjoy everything. I will definitely be back. Luckily I work across the street so I have easy access for my dumpling fix ❤️

Delicious!!!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great presentation of the food and was not too much nor too little, just enough for you to have a three course meal. Everything that we ate was a standout. Would definitely go back for another feed. And well worth the price. Whoever hasn't been there yet, don't waste time and just go to this restaurant!
BlueberryHill
Went here on a voucher and not expecting too much - very pleasantly surprised. Entre was nice but both main curries were lick-the-plate yum. It's a short menu with basically just one version of each protein but if they're all done as well as what we ordered, great! We shared a creme brûlée which was pretty fab. Staff were friendly and chilled, beer was cold. Happy.
Liz
Dear God never go here! Service is absolutely shyte even when there were 5 other people in the restaurant! Horrible. Food is yum but not worth the 40 minute wait.
Chillyxpress
Have eaten here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. Standout dishes personally include Angry Bird, Black Bean Pepper Lamb, and Singaporean Pork Spare Rib. Recently they have started to offer homemade dumplings during lunch only - I tried the Pork, prawn and scallop steamed variety and was pleasantly surprised. Will be coming back soon to try the other flavours.
Dane
Offering something a bit different with a fusion experience. As a result, you will pay more for the food. Good food for an upmarket experience.
Vincent Chang
Delicious food. Wonderful service. I like it. I think i will come for next time. Must try there desert cream brûlée. Wonderful taste. And all the mains cook well.
GlassOfMalbec
Went here with a few girls with Groupon vouchers. We found the food pretty good. No comparison to Chin Chin's, but delicious in its own right. <br/>As one of the entrees we ordered t<br/>It might help to hire a less dodgy looking waiter but we couldn't fault it in any other way.
Moverandshekhar
Just had dinner here on saturday night and it was awesome!  The beef salad was refreshing but had just the right amount of zing.  The tofu (?curry) and the black bean lamb dish were beautifully done too.  Very very impressed!  We'll be back!<br/><br/> Had dumplings here on a Sunday for lunch. Friendly staff, quick service and a great location. It was a dumplings only menu for lunch but I gather they are going to extend it.  Highly recommend!
Jackie.wickham
Dinner last night was wonderful, stand out dishes were Angry birds and the pork and prawn dumplings, beef rendang and the Singapore Pork ribs.<br/>Service was warm and friendly, definitely worth a visit.
Foodlover12
Had dinner here with a groupon voucher. Food is below average, any Asian restaurant in the city can do a better dish. We tried the curry fish and the beef rendang for mains and they did not have any fusion twist... Just pure Asian dishes. The deep fried ice cream was the worst I've had to date...<br/>The batter was still wet when served:( won't be coming back.
Dan Adams
Excellent service. Attentive and hospitable. With the Groupon we had three courses and could only finish two entrees and two mains. Rich, flavorful, and the perfect amount - when we didn't want the dessert after a tasty meal, they offered a glass of wine instead! Overall great experience. For the people who like spicy - even the hot dishes aren't very spicy, but still very tasty.

if you're after some authentic modern asian, give this new opening in fitzroy a try. impeccably delicious food + generous servings make me want to come back. just wish more people knew about this secret gem. <br/><br/>oh and "angry bird" is the standout dish.
Jim Xia
went there with $55 two people Groupon voucher, the deal includes 2 glasses of wine, but when we finished the meal and about to leave, the owner let us pay for these 2 glasses of wines saying the wine was not included as they had make it clear with Groupon, and it's Groupon's fault not to take it off from the deal, but my understanding is the owner did it in purpose cuz he said this is not the first argument about whether the wine is included, so he was fully ware of this issue and expect the argument after the meal, he could remind us when we made our order to avoid this, but he didn't, he said he is not obliged to do so!!! he just wants to cheat and make the money rather than cook the good food which is very normal, you can have this kind of food in any food court. last, if someone has $55 two people Groupon deal for this restaurant, you either refund it or you pay for the wine if you have to use it.
Iceman
The first thing that strikes you about MCF is that there's no one here, could be the night, could be the location, but either way this could well be Fitzroy's best kept secret. Both the service and food were nothing short of impeccable. Expect to part with around $35-40 p/h + drinks. Overall MCF comes highly recommended:)

A very nice coupon main meal with glass of wine.  I had the fried rice which had prawns and chicken and a bit of a kick to it.  Very nice.  Others had pork ribs and black bean lamb and all enjoyed.  Nice restaurant, spacious, pleasant atmosphere and attentive staff.  I felt sorry for them in that there were only six diners there on a Friday night.
KJ
Came here with a voucher, and what fantastic value! Service was attentive and friendly. Were very accommodating when it came to sauces being served on the side. Went with two children, one quite a fussy eater - but she loved it as well. Good portion sizes, we weren't able to eat it all! Stand outs included: soft shell crab brioche, angry bird chicken ribs, pork ribs and the children loved the deep fried ice cream! Definitely somewhere we will go again, even without a voucher! VERY HIGHLY Recommended, not only delicious food, but lovely friendly service!
Awhy
Thank you so much!! <br/>Had such a lovely night. The dinner was great, service was amazing! Everything was fresh, generous servings and the staff really try to accommodate. <br/><br/>The spicy ribs are a must!!!! <br/>

We found the service to be exceptional. Friendly and prompt. The food is fusion - a really interesting, vibrant, modern and flavoursome collection. We tried many dishes and enjoyed them all. Great value, reasonably priced, quiet and $2 beers!
Nat
I was given a voucher for Moo Chi and came with my boyfriend with no expectations on a Friday night. From the moment we walked in the service was fantastic; attentive, friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Then there was the food. All excellent and good portion sizes. And what a pleasant surprise the dessert was. The banana fritter had a lovely light batter and the creme brulee was really good by any standards. We liked it so much we came back again a week later without a voucher!
Christian Serruto
Nice little Asian restaurant. Some tasty food which was pretty filling, despite it not seeming to be enough. Excellent service. A good place for a simple, quiet meal.

The food is delicious and the service and atmosphere so welcoming and warm... and friendly very nice to eat here.  I can highly recommend "Angry Bird" fried chicken...  yommo!

Great find in Fitzroy ..the Chef is Singaporean and the menu reflects a modern twist on some staple dishes. The dumplings are fantastic and the dessert menu is worth sampling. Friendly and attentive staff ... Well worth a visit.

Just received my order from this place off Suppertime, had the Tuna Roll and the Nyonya Fish Curry. The time it took to deliver was great and I have no complaints there, however, the food was less than desirable. The tuna roll was average, seemed like ordinary tinned tuna wrapped in a panko crust and we probably expected more for $12. However, the real disappointment was the curry, tasted like wet dish towel and neither the BF or I, after just coming back from an overseas trip (hence the takeaway), completely ravenous and who can normally polish off almost anything, could bring ourselves to touch the rest of it. <br/><br/>Not sure about the other food on the menu and also how this stuff tastes freshly made in the restaurant, but perhaps don't order the above two dishes if you want to have a good time.

We went here using a Living Social voucher tonight and were super impressed with everything. The food was good, the atmosphere was good and the staff were fantastic. The really polite English waitress working there is a star.
Tim
My wife and I had a very enjoyable night here. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff and service friendly. If the dishes we ordered we particularly enjoyed the Mapo Tofu and the spicy fried chicken appetiser (angry birds). If anything we would have liked them a little angrier, though to be fair tastes vary. The lamb and sago were perhaps not to the same standard. I would also say this leans heavily to the Singapore/Malaysian side rather than what I would have expected from fusion. <br/><br/>All in all a good night, I wish the place well and I think I will be back with my wife again some time.
Kanako Suga
Food was delicious especially pork was moist and tender. Staff were very friendly and attending. Reasonably priced. They were casual looking dishes but restaurant' s atmosphere was classy and clean. We enjoyed our night.
Madison
Very impressed and pleased with this restaurant. From the aesthetics of the venue to the food to the service, they really have nailed it bang on. <br/>The food was amazing and so so tasty, my mum and step dad also loved it and they are notorious for being very fussy.<br/><br/>Keep it up guys, will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends.

New place in Brunswick with delicious food and outstanding staff! <br/>Manager is friendly and accommodating.. Even for a group of 20 people!<br/>Funky environment with an affordable menu.. Definitely recommended.

"It has POTENTIAL, however Asian fuzion is a tough cuisine to do"<br/><br/>Okay, it feels a little disconnected looking at the sign at the window and walking into the interior of this establishment. It looks Asian fuzion but it feels Latin interior, sure enough one of the waitress inform us that a month or so ago it used to be a Spanish restaurant.<br/><br/>With that in mind we've got to give it to them for presenting another facet of Asian Cuisine in an Asian-fested City like Melbourne. Doing great Asian food is tough enough now tweaking it further is even more challenging. Asian Fuzion cuisine is about combining and balancing those Asian & Western elements, it is easier said than done, the terms is so loose it can go either way or lost in translation.<br/><br/>On top of that you've got Presentation and Pricing next.<br/><br/>Presentation you can see from some of our photos, it needs to be more creative.<br/><br/>Pricing is a tricky challenge, under pricing will end your business and over pricing scares potential customers as one of the dish we experience tonight Nyonya Fish, Rockling Fish in Curry sauce $24 is quite similar to another Malaysian restaurant at half the price.<br/><br/>Anyway, based on taste alone, in general the two Entree's we've ordered one is spot on the fuzion track, Mini Burger with Soft Shell Crab, the other Bouncy Squid has been done before in many Asian restaurants abroad be it a different name, it needs a little tweaking and it will be a hit.<br/><br/>The two mains; <br/><br/>Nyonya Fish was served cold, a little lack luster in the spice department, desperately in need to standout from similar dish found in a Malaysian restaurants.<br/><br/>Singaporean Pork Spare Ribs was cooked nicely but the sauce is not season to be punchy enough, I would suggest BBQ sauce <br/><br/>both dishes are too extreme on the South East Asian taste, rather than fuzion. I would serve the Pork Spare Ribs grilled on a bed of Mash Potatoes with 2 different dipping sauces, accompanied by some Asparagus presented on an open Timber board. Even more creative use of Steam Rice or Glutinous rice if possible. <br/><br/>The two desserts were good but not "fuzionly" interesting; Passion fruit & Mango Pudding/Panna cotta style and Creme Brulee with Nori/seaweed wafer roll, this is more to the Western style dessert ... I would dare to suggest Pandan Pudding Panna cotta with Palm sugar, just a thought.<br/><br/>Great to see the Manager came, apologised and rectify the situation, even at a month old but it will need to grow identity quick.<br/><br/>We hope that this establishment will find it's way and established their identity as Melbourne needs a formidable Asian fuzion restaurants.

We bought a living social voucher for moo-chii and were happy to see we werent treated any different than full paying customers. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food and cocktails were amazing, very fresh and flavourful. We had 2 entrees, 2 mains and 2 desserts, all were fantastic! The online booking system was so easy to use, overall it was a great dining experience and we will deffinately be back!
FOOD TRIP
Located on the more quiet end of Fitzroy. The restaurant itself is hip and interesting, but the food is average. Wouldn't come back. Crispy Tuna Roll (4 pcs) $12. Aromatic Tuna with Fresh Herbs in a Crispy Panko Wrap, Garnished with Nori and Black Sesame Seeds. The wrap was quite crispy but everything else was disappointing. The tuna was the chilli type you get out of a can and there wasn't enough nori garnish. Flavour was lacking. 4/10

We were greeted warmly and quickly felt loved. We had a couple of entrees, mains and desserts and all were delicious. The chicken curry was particularly good. Left satisfied and with full bellies. Would highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I visited Moo Chi In Fusion on 22nd December 2015. We were served by Maryse. She was really attentive, friendly and helpful.<br/><br/>Mini Moo Bun with Soft Shell Crab, Singaporean Pork Spare Ribs, Chap Choy Curry, Deep Fried Ice Cream

Just had a wonderful lunch at Moo Chi. Surprised by its wall art decorations that created a warm, relaxing and elegant environment and atmosphere. Tried the angry birds and black bean pepper lam with rice. They were absolutely tasty and beautiful. Had had black bean pepper lam/beef at various restaurants previously but I have to say that none of them matched the fine texture and taste of Moo Chi. The angry bird was quite unique in that it achieved a perfect combination of crispy, tender and juicy. Friendly staff, enjoyable experience. Will certainly be back..
Maryse
I had a really great time at MOO CHI. The food was awesome especially the Mini Moo Pulled Pork Bun and the Crispy Tuna Roll that we had for entrée. With a sweet and sour cosmo cocktail and a good service, everything to spend a good night. I'll definitely go back :)

Moo Chi In Fusion has recently opened its doors on Johnston St in Fitzroy. Just minutes down from the bustle of Smith Street, this Asian Fusion restaurant impresses and entices you to stray away from the main streets of Fitzroy. Once you walk into the venue, you’re greeted with this spectacular artwork and friendly staff to boot.
Jenna Jay_Food
I came here from a friends recommendation and so glad I did! A lot of restaurants are lacking veggie options but Moo Chi had plenty! I had the chop chop curry and it was beautiful. Rich flavour and heaps of veggies! My friend opted for the black bean pepper lamb which was also presented beautifully. I'll definitely be visiting again and will be spreading the word about the newest place on Johnston st.

loved it! imho the food was some of the nicest Malaysian I have had around Melbourne (read: kicks Mamak's ass). Our kids wanted to have their own table and were wonderfully indulged by the friendly staff :) The bartender makes a mean cocktail with some underground kiwi gin! Overall we just had a fantastic experience and will definitely be back!

I must admit I just had the best rendang ever in my life, as a Malaysian myself was really thrilled to try out something that's really authentic. Service is excellent and very prompt. Highly recommended and btw the angry birds and bouncy squid is a must try. <br/><br/>
Andrew Jacobs
A group of about 10 of us (including kids) ate at Moo Chi infusion on a Friday evening. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, and we were soon settled in with drinks. We ordered a variety of starters - the Angry Bird was a highlight and the kids were fighting over who would get a second piece! The green payapa salad was refreshing, full of flavour, and nicely balanced (not too spicy!). We also really enjoyed the tuna rolls and bouncy squid.<br/>After much deliberation, I eventually settled on going for the beef rendang for my main dish, though the Singapore pork ribs sounded delicious. Having lived in Malaysia for a couple of years, I've eaten some amazing beef rendang, and I'm pleased to say that the Moo Chi incarnation was definitely up there - the beef was succulent and melted in my mouth, and was full of authentic flavour. Friends ordered the chap choy curry, the fried rice, and the chicken curry. I tasted all of them, and though they were really great (especially the chap choy curry), I was pleased with my choice.<br/>The staff were kind enough to give us all complimentary desserts of deep fried ice-cream with caramelised banana. It was surprisingly light and the banana complimented the ice-cream beautifully - the perfect finish. <br/>Overall, a great night at a lovely new restaurant. I really the food and the service at Moo Chi. We will be back!

I went to Flamenco on Johnston street-my rgular Spanish restaurant. Unfortunately they have been changed and renovated into a new Asian fusion restaurant call Moo Chi so went I in and try. What surprised me were the food and the atmosphere. Specially the angry bird and Singaporean pork ribs were amazing. Definitely be back again. Those who had review and they have a lot of followers doesn't means that they are very professional. You should go and and try it in person.reviewing things and criticizing others is a two different things.criticizing other will not help to improve things.

We stopped by here for a late dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant was a little quiet but the overall ambience was great. We were feeling hungry (surprise) we ordered as much as we could without feeling too silly. Pork burger, chicken burger, pork ribs and a chicken curry. We must have still looked hungry because we had some of the angry bird chicken brought out for us to try, I couldn't be more glad we got to try it. The staff were unbelievably nice and we will definitely be back.

I'd heard that this restaurant had only recently opened and thought I'd try it out. Trying new restaurants can often be a gamble as the kitchen may still have some teething problems. This was definitely not the case at Moo Chi. We felt greedy when we went so we ordered a bit! Wait for it, a Moo Chi chicken burger, Moo Chi pork burger, pork ribs, chicken curry & some angry bird chicken for good measure. I can't fault anything and I will definitely be back for the burgers. The staff here are another highlight, exceptionally friendly and very welcoming. A great place to dine.

Friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere and yummy food. Loved the soft shell crab mini bun<br/> and the bouncy squid. The angry bird dish is quite a recipe, we enjoyed it thoroughly,  especially the kids. The mains (singaporean pork spare ribs, nyonya fish and seafood spaghetti) were delicious and were of a quite generous portion that arrived timely for a hungry family. A very satisfying night out, worthy of a "I'll be back".

The angry bird and mini Moo bun is soooo delicious. The pork ribs from the main dishes is simply awesome. I strongly recommend this restaurant!!
