Review Sherpaz Restaurant - Fitzroy

Despite the restaurant being empty on a Saturday night, we decided to give it a go. Unfortunately for us kofta was frozen in the middle. Curry was better but with chewy beef. The room was cold and in need of renewal.

The Non-Veg dumpling was the most terrible dumpling I have ever had in my life. <br/>I am not even sure what type of meat they used in it.

The food offerings were great but they didn't seem to impress me in taste ! Maybe I'm more attuned for spicy flavors and this place wasn't for my taking. Ensure that you asked for spicy ones if you prefer them.

On a cold mid-week evening we dined late and had the place to ourselves ( phone orders seemed busy however). The meals were fresh, and not surprisingly were not kept waiting for them! Good value and good service.

Do not get food delivered from this restaurant. It was virtually inedible. I ordered a curry and rice. The rice was OK, nothing special. The curry arrived with a thick layer of oil on top. The rest of it had very little in the way of ingredients. I can't attest to what the food is like when you dine in but I would probably suggest going to one of the other Indian restaurants around.

Excellent food-had take away the beef vindaloo was spicy not too hot and the chicken tikka was juicy and wonderful highly recommend this place hopefully their standards continue to be consistent

Nice take away from here tonight. Liked the Korma. Liked the goat curry. Very impressed with the Kashmiri naan. The calamari was very interesting. Loved the raita. Delivery was relatively speedy and friendly. We were given two complimentary samosas which was very nice. We really liked the food and look forward to ordering again soon.

Food was decent but we waited way too long for mains to come out. At least 30-40 minutes after we finished our entrees did the mains come out. It wasn't even busy. Maybe they prioritized the delivery and takeaway orders and thought that eat-in orders could just wait. Oh well, I did postpone our booking and they were cool about it. But I was a bit annoyed when I ordered a calamari as entree and asked if I was able to order that (as I read on the voucher conditions beforehand it says that seafood dishes couldn't be ordered) and the waitress said sure (we did get a separate menu for voucher holders, and since it was listed on there I assumed it would be okay) but came back after 5 minutes saying they "ran out" of calamari. Whaaat? The table beside us just got served a calamari entree. But then again, maybe we were just unlucky and they did just happen to run out of calamari... won't jump to conclusions here. Other than that, it was an okay experience.

Terrible Service. We used a scoopon and was happy the food was tasty. The service was terrible, they didn't have our reservation confirmed and made us wait to check even though the resturant was empty...<br/><br/>We ordered a main each and waited an hour for it to arrive. We ordered garlic Naan and on leaving the resturant we were told we had to pay for the garlic Naan even though we weren't told that when we ordered it.<br/><br/>We won't be back.

Definitely Recommend. We went for dinner as group of four and had a really delicious meal. The beef korma and lamb rogan josh was so delicious, definitely try it.... And try chicken vindaloo.... Yum. The flavours were amazing. We received terrific service from the staff and a lot of really tasty food. Happy to leave a tip at Sherpaz and would definitely recommend going.

Great food excellent value Jacko. Went to Sherpaz with an "all you can eat voucher". Had beautiful food, friendly service and couldn't eat any more after one entree, one main, bread and papadams. Highly recommended and will be back

Tasty and cosy. Came here on a Groupon deal. Service was great and the food was tasty. The samosas were fresh and well filled. Whilst we only had a limited choice of dishes the ones we chose were authentic for Nepalese cuisine. The ambience of the restaurant is cosy and I would recommend it. Plates were warmed up, which is also a nice touch. Only negative was the kulfi, which was a bit watery and bland.

Good Indian. Came here with groupon voucher. Nice ambience, quick and friendly service. Chicken tikka and tandoori for entree was tasty. Had lamb madras and butter chicken for mains which were fantastic. Gulab jamun for entree was good and authentic. Kulfi, however, tasted terrible.<br/><br/>Overall nice restaurant and would go again. Good work.

Best Butter Chicken !!!. Been there with a friend twice already. Butter Chicken was awesome, great veregterian options as well..my friend luvd the vegies...staff were friendly as well...definitely wil go back soon.

Our deal stated that it was an all you can eat banquet with as many main dishes as you can eat in 90mins but you had to complete one main before you could order another. Well it took 40 mins till our first main dish arrived and it was about the size of a toddler meal. When we finished the staff did not come near us again at all and we were completely ignored I suspect so we could not order anymore food. Would also like to add that there were only another two tables with patrons so the place was not exactly run off their feet. I would not go back as we left hungry and ended up getting takeaway an hour later. To me this does not signify a good or even satisfactory dining experience. « Read less

Great food. The food I had in Sherpaz was authentic Nepalese food. I really had high expectations with taste and they delivered me in time. Taste was one of the best among many Nepalese restaurants in Melbourne. Environment and staffs at Sherpaz were friendly every time I visited. <br/>If you are looking authentic Nepalese taste with in the menu that Sherpaz is offering, I would recommend this is the place to visit.

Great food !!!. Tried this restaurant while on Melbourne trip, food was yummy. Definitely will come back when in Melbourne, will miss that butter chicken...close to city as well...

A place to be for lunch n dinner. Very nice n welcoming environment with delicious food..A+ to customer care with always willingness to meet customer needs. Foods are awesome. I especially loved dumplings or should I say MOMO in nepalese.. Chicken tandoori was mouth watering..A must place to go for lunch n dinner..

Sensational Nepalese. This place has a friendly, intimate and romantic atmosphere. The food is incredible - perfectly.flavoured and each dish was very unique in taste which can be rare in spicy cuisines. We came on a Scoopon voucher but we will be back - the staff were lovely and even let us order unlimited mains from dishes that were not included on the voucher at no extra cost. Terrific.

The service was good and staffs were very helpful. .we are definitely going there again..... The atmosphere was peaceful and loved the mango lassi. ..

The Beginning of The End. Due to this establishment having such a high rating I was absolutely shocked by the events of our dinner here. We arrived at 6pm, we were nor served our mains until 7.45pm. No one took our drink orders until we asked several times. Everyone in the restaurant was in the same position. Everyone had stressful looks on there faces and were complaining. Our dishes when they arrived had probably less than 30 grams of protein in a chicken or beef dish. I have never had such slow service anywhere in the world. Our family eat out at restaurants at least 3-5 times a week we are not high maintenance people. It was my husbands birthday and it really ruined our night. This restaurant had released a coupon deal in the last few weeks. We had never heard of it before, read the reviews and thought we will give it a try. They treated us like 2nd class citizens due to the fact that we had bought a voucher. They did not deliver anything that was promised on the voucher. We have never had such a negative dining experience. The food itself was OK BUT TINY. I would never support a restaurant with such poor service, ridiculous serving sizes, and making promises that they clearly can't deliver. Such a shame
