Everything I tried at Hanabi was excellent. The sushi/sashimi was fresh, and the fish high quality.

Low quality fish and low quality, super salty soy sauce. Gyoza not great either. I was surprised by the low quality after reading the positive reviews. Fake reviews or people just like the low prices? Disappointing.

Really the best/fresh sushi in Melbourne. Have been coming here every Tuesday for 1.5 years and am never disappointed with the sushi. I highly recommend the fried prawn handroll. I also recommend the salmon and avocado handroll. Always very generous with the wasabi and ginger. <br/><br/>:D :D

Sushi’s are good and well priced. But with the rice dishes I don’t think they are value for money at all . There was any hardly rice and chicken and I paid 11$ curry don. Wish they improve a little bit on the quantities

Great vegetarian bento box with rice, gyoza, croquette, edamame, seaweed & salad. Sushi is always delicious they do something special with the rice (white or brown). The menu is a few years old prices are slightly higher now and also it hasn't been open on Saturdays for a few years.

Highly recommend this place. Clean, fresh, cheap, delicious !!! Will come back again and again. Order for takeaway they are pretty fast. Can see how they’re preparing the food as it’s an open kitchen . Great tidy restaurant

On my final discoveries of all places Japanese on Smith Street, I headed into Hanabi Sushi to check out their offerings. They’re open 11am to 7pm and I popped in twice for lunch to check out their hot offerings and their hand rolls. There’s usually a bit of a queue but the service is fast, as is any ordered meals. Quite cheap, the teriyaki chicken don is $8.40 and the sushi rolls are around the $2.50 mark. The teriyaki sauce on the chicken is a good seasoning and there’s a lot. Most of the chicken was nice but a occasional chewy bit wasn’t quite as good. I rated the hand rolls, good ratio of meat to rice.

Really fresh and a great selection of sushi and sashimi for when you are in a hurry. If you have a few extra minutes, get a takeaway bento box for a little bit of everything. Miso soup is awesome too!

Sushi good but.... Been here a few times recently - generally just got sushi and have always enjoyed what is on offer, fresh and esp. the fried prawn or chicken are very good. Just today I tried the Gyudon (fried beef on rice). Last week it was fine but this week way too salty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, won't have that again! Will just stick to the sushi which at $2.50 for just about everything there is pretty good value. Friendly staff too.

Great lunchtime meals. A great new addition to Smith St. I've been twice since Hanani Sushi opened and the sushi has been fresh, full of seafood and not overloaded with rice like some of the other Smith St offerings.<br/>The grilled Teriyaki Chicken is a very generous serve and a bargain at $7.40. Well worth a visit for a quick, cheap and healthy lunch.

This is possibly going to be my shortest entry so far in more than 6 months of blogging. It's a simple eatery with a fresh feel. It is a great addition to the area as a no fuss, friendly, and informal space, that serves fresh Japanese takeaway food. It serves a good range of made on premises sushi and rolls, as well as a small range of donburi. Easy no fuss dining on the run.
