Review Hellenic Souvlaki - Fitzroy

Would consider myself a gyros consultant at this point in my career and can safely say these guys know what they’re doing. Perfectly seasoned and cooked lamb accompanied by some of the best chips I’ve had from a souvlaki dispensary. On a scale of 1-Carrum Charcoal Chicken I’d give this place an 8/10 which is saying something.

Love going to Hellenic Souvlaki with the family but after yesterday will definitely not be back. The blonde hair lady that served us didn’t know how to smile. She doesn’t know how to make customers feel welcome. We ordered the meal for 2 which had chicken, lamb, pork and sausage. We asked for the pork to be replaced with extra lamb or chicken and the sausage for a salad. Kindly enough they were happy to do it. But the amount of lamb and chicken we received was literally a handful. Wasn’t even enough to feed my husband. Dips were in small sauce containers. In taste wise everything was good but the portions served was not worth what we had paid. We dined in and for our food to come in takeaway containers made the experience worse. What happened to the 2 males that were always there welcoming there customers with smiles. Have the owners changed? Very disappointed.

Amazing customer service and so fast, they just took 5 min to do the order. The most important thing was the food, It was so delicious, tasty and big portions. I ordered 2 combos of souvlaki, one of pork and the other one of lamb.

ACHILLES and Egg Fix on Turkish. It takes 20 mins to wait to pick up That cook with dark beard isn’t a nice guy and friendly.

Amazing food, great tasting meats with nice wood smokey flavour. Tastes like the real thing reminds me of succulent souvlaki in Greece. A must visit destination on Brunswick street a local classic. Really nice staff also always with a smile!

Just received an order through ubereats. Got the gyros pack. $33 which is fine but there was absolutely no meat at all. 5 small offcuts of lamb and 10 small crumbs of chicken. Absolutely disappointed. This is supposed to be a meat meal.

from the moment I stepped one foot into Hellenic souvlaki I was warmly welcomed by smiling faces, the staff are beautiful kind people! the service was impeccable and quick. The food was delicious and the music transported me to another place! Love the range of vegan options not seen often! Best vegan souvlaki around 💕✨

Best Souvlaki in the world Edit: just got my souvlaki and have a confession, although it was absolutely delicious I can not say with certainty that it was the best in THE WORLD as I have not eaten every souvlaki in the world. I can say with confidence that it was tasty though. Edit 2: yes, the rumours are true. I was paid 1x free soft drink to leave this review. Food was delicious and came exactly as ordered in great time! <br/>Saw on door dash that this place did a vegan souvlaki which looked amazing! I was instantly drawn in by the fact it had my favourite Greek food in it.. dolmades!! How can you not instantly salivate at the thought of dolmades in a souvlaki!!<br/>I had some trouble ordering the vegan souvlaki through the door dash app as I couldn’t find it on the restaurants menu but it came up when I did a broad search for ‘vegan items’ in the apps search bar; however, it then wouldn’t let me add any other items to the the order. Therefore I had to order the vegetarian souvlaki and put in the notes I wanted it vegan.<br/>When it arrived it came exactly how I asked for it and it tasted absolutely amazing! The pita bread used was a stand out! <br/>I definitely recommend this place if you are a vegan and want a super yummy meal!

Me and a mate had a saganaki to start off with yum to the mo got the taste buds going then had gyro plate each wow looked awesome lamp cooked perfect with heaps of flavour chips hot and tasty salad fresh and very filling meal no more need to go to oakleigh any more

Great chargrilled toros, very authentic. The open yiros plate with Greek salad & chips is great value and generous portion, 👍🏼

Kinda meh.<br/><br/>Didn’t realise the dip was IN the pita so it came a surprise... The hummus was abit too sour for my liking. The tzatziki wasn’t too bad but really really yoghurty and solid like feta cheese almost. The pita was not too bad but not the best.<br/><br/>Overall, it was okay but not the best.

Ate in at this place restaurant was clean and tidy and nice modern Greek decor, friendly staff, Amazing food, everything was fresh hot and tasty.

This place is beyond exceptional - it’s not fancy but the food is excellent quality, remarkably fresh and tasty. We ordered a plate to share with just the coleslaw and mixed meat 🍖 🥩 🐥 it was incredible in every way! My mum who has to follow a keto diet because of health treatments was so excited to be able to enjoy a meal out. The service was warm, friendly and personal.

Good souvlaki at a good price at $10.90! What else do you need to know? Had the chicken souvlaki, but am going to try the Loukaniko next time. Chicken souvlaki was tasty, sorta wish they had a bigger size for when you're REALLY hungry, but it was filling as it was coming from a nearby pub.

Love the souvlaki here.  Meat was juicy and seasoned just perfectly.  The serving size was also just right. At $10.90 for this quality of food is an unbelievable find.   There are a few souvlaki joints on the same street but this place is the best in my books. I have been back a few times and it still as good as I remember. Two thumbs up.

Very good greek-style souvlaki. I love the more traditional style with chips inside and no lettuce. I also like the pork option. Very reasonably priced

The calamari at Hellenic Souvlaki is a must order! Juicy, succulent, and with just a little lemon it’s the perfect appetiser - don’t miss out! Being the new kid they are out to impress with their delicious food 😍

This place is awesome. I loved it he staff are so awesome. The fresh food was made in front of me. The location and parking was amazing. The owner was so amazing in how he runs this takeaway food. I have also ordered via Uber eats and the food was still fresh.

The gyro was delicious. The chips are fresh and the meat is well salted/flavoured. But they need a lesson in efficiency. There was only one person ahead of us in the queue (and one uber order), but it still took over 15 minutes to get one gyro at 6.30pm. While I understand doing one thing well, you should be able to start another <br/>Gyro when you’re already working on another. Also, chopping the meat finer would be more delicious. But that’s entirely mine and my fiancé’s opinion.

Hellenic Souvlaki is a recent addition to the Brunswick Street, Fitzroy food scene. From the outside it appears to be a small takeout shop but once inside you’ll see that they have a number of tables for dining in.<br/><br/>We ordered the gyros plate off the spit with lamb, chicken & pork gyros and the vegetarian plate to share between two. Both plates included sides of pita bread, tzatziki, Hellenic salad and chips. The plates are a great option if you want to try a little bit of everything. Everything we ordered was well cooked and seasoned, I enjoyed the chicken gyros the best. The highlights of the vegetarian plate were the saganaki and dolmades. <br/><br/>Portions are generous offering good value for money, between the two of us we couldn’t finish the two plates. The gyros plate was $22.50 and the vegetarian plate was $20.50, we could have fed two people with one plate. <br/><br/>Overall I enjoyed all the food we tried at Hellenic Souvlaki and I recommend that you check them out. I rate Hellenic Souvlaki ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Thanks very much for having me.

Situated along the busy Brunswick Street is a new Souva joint. This restaurant has a more family style restaurant layout with seating. We were lucky to be invited to check out this new souva joint on a warm night.<br/><br/>What we had...<br/><br/>Gyros Plate: The Gyros Plate had meat off the spit, Hellenic salad, chips, tzaiki and pita bread. The platter could definitely feed 2 people or 1 hungry person! The chicken and pork was out favourite with the lamb being slightly salty. <br/><br/>Calamari Plate: The salt and pepper calamari plate was also large! The calamari was fresh and perfectly fried. The Squeeze of lemon gave it the perfect freshness. <br/><br/>Saganaki: A must at every greek restaurant is saganaki! The cheese was perfectly grilled with a squeeze of lemon. <br/><br/>Would love to see an improvement in the lamb but besides that everything was tasty and satisfying with large portions.

who puts chips in a souvlaki . if i wanted fish and chips i would have gone to hunky dori. I prefer my souvlaki with meat inside chips on side . Melbourne style , stalactites style, hollywood palace style, . half  the size of a normal souvlaki  filled with chips,  no way never again.

Sublime chicken souvlaki. Lamb was outstanding, but the chicken is out of this world - perfectly seasoned, very tender and juicy like no other chicken I've had. <br/><br/>Bread was warm, fluffy and comforting as it should, the staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere authentic.<br/><br/>10/10 would eat that chicken all day.

Excellent place for calamari and saganaki souvlakis. Very fresh and satisfying, wrapped in a tasty pita with delicious sauce. Friendly service too!

Decided to try here for Friday lunch after reading the good reviews. The restaurant is bright and clean. It was surprisingly quiet so we had plenty of room but it could be cramped when busy. We decided to eat in and the service was friendly and efficient. I ordered a lamb gyros while my friend decided to try the chicken (there are many other options). The gyros was slightly smaller than standard but the quality more than compensated. The lamb was delicious and tender, so much nicer than the shaved version many restaurants use. My friend commented that the chicken was also very tasty. The pita bread was lovely. Chips are included in the gyros but my personal preference would be to have these as a side rather than inside the gyros. At $10.90 for a gyros we felt it was great quality for the money.

I came to hellenic last weekend and I was very impressed! The service, atmosphere and quality of food was brilliant. I couldn't have ask for a better Souvlaki!<br/><br/>

Amazing staff and amazing food. Hellenic souvlaki takes that extra step into traditional Greek cuisine. The meat was crazy good and the calamari was beautiful. I’ll definitely be back!!

The food here is amazing. I had the pork souvlaki with mustard sauce and the calamari. Also trio dips was best greek. Good price and came quick

This place is absolutely amazing... Authentic Greek meat platters and Souvlaki is exactly what Brunswick st needed. Staff are super friendly and quality is outstanding. Keep up the good work guys.

Best souvlaki I have ever had ! I have been here almost every single night to eat and can honestly say I haven’t tasted anything better ! The meat is amazing, the staff are great, the care and quality are incredible of staff, food and performance ! I would highly recommend people to come eat here. You will not be disappointed! <br/>
