Review Saigon Street Eats - Fitzroy

Sorry guys, I tried to like you after reading the great reviews, but I was disappointed. Service was quick and friendly in this bright cheerful store and attractively plated. My Báhn Mi roll was not very crispy, and the fillings didn't justify the comparatively high cost. Way above Annie's Pantry and much more expensive than a standard Vietnamese bakery one without being anywhere as tasty. And you didn't have roast Pork! Our rice paper rolls were beautiful looking but impossible to eat without them falling apart. Viet Spring rolls were reasonably priced but had almost no filling although the dipping sauce was delicious. Disappointed.

I arrived a bit earlier than the opening hour but they were so friendly and allowed me to order my Bahn Mi ❤️ During lunch time there’s a lovely sun light and they were playing Bossa Nova, which made me so happy! My Bahn Mi had a perfect balance between veggies and meat, it was cut in half which made it easier to eat (not all places serves you Bahn Mi cut in half). They also bring you all the sauces for you to enjoy your food! Good price, lovely environment and friendly staff! 💯 I will be definitely walking a bit more just to grab my bahn mi!

GOOD QUALITY AND GENEROUS SERVING SIZES We ordered Saigon Eats via Ubereats on a Wednesday night when we wanted a simple, healthy vegetarian-based dinner. What i like about Saigon Street Eats is that you can tailor the dishes by adding additional items (eg adding green vegetables to a tofu dish). We were pleased with the freshness of the food and the generous serving sizes. Menu is fairly extensive and caters to a wide range of tastes. Packaging is good - paper boxes that are recyclable :)

I walk past this place frequently and finally decided to try it out. I really should have given it a go sooner because the vegan pho was the tastiest I've ever had. And I have tried a lot of vegan pho! So delicious that I didn't add any sauce and I drank every last drop of the broth.

Frequently have lunch here. Fantastic Ban Mi and rice paper rolls and great value friendly staff and community minded (did some freebies forhugry locals in lockdown)

The staff are really accommodating and lovely. I had the pork & prawn and beef & caramelised onion rice paper rolls with the hoisin/peanut dipping sauce. They were made fresh and full of flavour. Can’t wait to come back for more and to try new things on the menu.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t have better reviews but it genuinely is one of the BEST pho’s I’ve ever had and I’ve been to Vietnam TWICE!

I got the chicken & quail egg pho because I adore quail eggs and I enjoy a chicken protein more in comparison to beef and I didn’t really order it with much expectations but just hoped for it to fulfil my cravings and fulfil it did!! But it blew my expectations out of the water 🤤 Let’s start with my favourite part, it was the BROTH! I don’t know how they did it but the broth was absolutely wonderful! It was sooo good and so warming! It wasn’t a freezing weather but I’d have it regardless. The quail egg was done to perfection. Sometimes quail eggs are just boiled and it’s still hard (ehem hot pot) but Saigon Street Eats cooked it so it’s kinda soft in the middle but still solid! The portion was also really really substantial so I was really happy! Everything about this pho was absolutely perfect and I have no complaints at ALL ❤️

3.7
Vietnamese eats in Fitzroy.

The place is quite small, but quite cosy with cute interior and nice light coming in from the window. Staffs were quite nice, though food took just a tad bit longer than usual.

Pho (Large) was large indeed, it was satisfying with tender meat and tasty meatballs. Soup was decent as it was bit too salty.

The chicken banh mi was quite good, the bread could be crunchier however. I do like the chicken, it was tender and flavorful and the veggies were fresh, taste was yums!

Lastly the bun was generous, with fresh vegs and tasty pork. However the noodle was bit soft though so some were in short pieces.

Tofu and vege spring rolls were tasty, nicely fried and good ratio between fillings and skin. The cabbage were fresh too.

Overall a pretty good spot for some vietnamese food, with a need of small improvements.

( follow for more!✨)

xx,joelle.

Reasonably priced food and a simple menu render this place a convenient stop for lunch. However, service I found slow even for an empty restaurant.

Ordered a banh mi from this place. Taste was ok, not wow. Bread was soft. Not my favourite place for a banh mi. Have not tried anything else on the menu

A few of us at work ordered through uber eats from Saigon Street Eats. The pork bahn mi was delicious fresh and very flavor some. Others had ordered the chicken pho and rice paper rolls and commented that they were delicious. The prices were good with generous servings. Would definitely order again.

PROS
Nice little casual dine in area, quick service, clean and yummy food, very reasonable prices.tried the omelette and the tofu banh mi with the tofu being a standout imo.veg n tofu spring rolls nice and crispy with a generous serve on lettuce to top it off.also great variety of condiments on the table.

CONS
Honestly, just the apple paywave. Everything else was standout.

FYI
Apple pay only so paywave only, no account selection when making payment. A nice relaxed space for a casual meal.

Well well well.... what can I say ...delicious

Lovely service, really flavoursome banh mi. Best vege banh mi I’ve had in Melbourne.

Nice interior, well lit. Great place for a nice casual lunch.

I work in the city and get Uber eats from this place ! And it is hands down the best Vietnamese I’ve ever had! The vermicelli salad is so amazing and delicious! Every time I want to die at work this place saves me! Thank you so much for always providing the best food! The rice paper rolls are also the bomb! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Had lunch here on a Saturday. It was very quiet. Food was lovely and very well-presented. Pho was amazing, spring rolls were yum, chilli fried tofu and dumplings. Service was friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Small cute and tucked away. Decent Vietnamese food with good portion sizes and not too sweet. This place does heaps of Ubereats. Everything is made fresh and in the moment. Not bad for a quick and easy meal. The spring rolls are a bit on the expensive side but delicious. Not a huge menu but that’s fine by me.

Yummy! Staff lovely! Went with my bro who has been to Vietnam and he said it was the most like the food there he has had in Melbourne. 👌👌👌

We came in on a quiet evening so the shop was empty aside from numerous uber eats drivers coming in and out. We just wanted some pho and that’s exactly what we got in a no frills fairly stock standard dish. It was certainly tasty but not the most flavourful pho I’ve ever had.
The service was friendly and the options for rice paper rolls and snack type food looked tasty too. Plus the prices were very reasonable for the size of the dish and tastiness so all in all not bad for a quick bite to eat.

Best pho in the north! Love this place, super friendly staff. I often order it on Uber Eats as well and it is always great quality. Shredded chicken Pho is 10/10!

A nice spot for a quick pre-gig dinner. Between the three of us we tried the beef pho, chicken & prawn papaya salad, fried tofu and pork bahn mi. The pho broth was delicious - flavourful and clear, tofu perfectly soft on the inside and crispy out. Papaya salad was good but I did end up adding chilli as it wasn't as spicy as I'd expect. Didn't try the bahn mi but friend said she liked it - was just unfortunate there didn't seem to be a classic option on the menu (various porks & pate). Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Awesome food and a great setup inside - I'm glad they haven't changed their recipes from the other restaurant in Balaclava - the pho is still impeccable and the produce is fresh. Really great establishment for a relaxed and satisfying feed

Had the most excellent Bahn Mi here! I was super impressed with how big and fresh it was. Also had spring rolls which came with the traditional lettuce leaves and chicken skewers. Really recommend this place. Fast and cheerful! We will be back!

Simple, unpretentious but most importantly, delicious and fresh Vietnamese cuisine. Very relaxed vibes with great interior design. The pho is phenomenal, clean and fragrant - with a vegan option which I hear is fantastic too. Can't wait to return!

Five stars! ***** My partner and I had a wonderful meal here. We hadn't eaten here previously and expected this restaurant to be similar to the other Vietnamese restaurants in Victoria Street but we were delighted to find it was head and shoulders above the others. We shared rice paper rolls, dumplings and banh mi sandwiches. The food (and restaurant) were very clean and high quality. I was particularly pleased that there was a vegan banh mi as well as other vegan meals to choose from. The owner Kim was also there running the restaurant which was good to see too.

I love everything I've tried on the menu but the standout for me was the amazing pho noodle soup and crispy chicken wings. I've actually had dreams about them. The staff here are always super friendly and on the ball. Keep up the great work!

Really really good food. Healthy and delicious. The decor is cool and staff are friendly. I come here a lot as it's quick and tasty and you feel good after eating it. A very high recommendation.
I am so happy that Saigon Street Eats has a new shop closer to the CBD! It looks so different to the shop in Balaclava, however the food is just as delicious. We had the chicken pho, spring rolls, chicken wings and my all time favourite, the chicken skewers! The servings are super generous and alm staff are lovely.
