Review Sapa Hills Restaurant - Footscray

Dan Le
Similar vibe and taste to Chin Chin's for a fraction of the cost. Speedy service despite being a full house (even in the overflow restaurant). Taste was on point, flavours were strong and punchy without being overwhelming. Can see why it's so popular amongst the locals.

Came back after the lockdown, the restaurant is still great, but the meals flavour were changed a bit. I got 3 dishes this time and everything was a bit salty today. The service is still nice but their new staff is not too friendly like before.

Delicious Vietnamese food. The fried chicken ribs is a must try, not only the fried skin is delicious with some veggies on top and garlic seasoning but even the meat inside has a rich flavour, you can tell and see by the colour of the meat that's been marinated perfectly. The Sapa special fried rice is amazing too.

Great place with great tasting food. This is northern Vietnamese styled food so there are some unique changes from the south Vietnamese that many are used to in Melbourne. In particular, "bun cha" is a great one here (very similar to vermicelli noodles) and the pho is slightly northern style. The only thing that isn't making it a 5 is that there is food as good but cheaper around the area. 2 mains plus 2 drinks was about 50, which you can probably get for about 35 around the corner. The place is definitely more buzzing so it is much much louder. But overall, very good place.

Delicious food. Interesting menu. Good liquor list. Only 1 grumpy staff member! Very highly recommended.

This has been one of my favourite places ever since moving to Footscray 2 years back. Food is delicious and portion right. They do takeaways during COVID lockdowns and the food is surprisingly good and at par with how you’d have it when you were able to dine in. I’ve tried a few items from their “chef’s special” menu and was never disappointed. Most recently on 15th October I bought Stir Fry of Pan seared scallops with egg noodles in crab sauce and is fantastic! The lemongrass chilli chicken was good but I’m not really a fan of lemongrass flavour anyway, so can’t really comment on that. They also currently have many local takeaway beer options

I’ve been here numerous times and this has been consistently great! Staff super friendly, always greeting us with a smile. Food is hearty, delicious and generous servings so great to share. Reasonably priced and great craft beer options or cocktails! Something to please everyone on the menu, so a safe place to take friends and family.

I'm never left disappointed. Sapa Hills always hits the spot with their wide range of authentic and fresh cuisine. I always find myself coming back for a bowl of pho and their coconut mocktail! SO GOOD!!

Rating: 3.5
Food: 3.5
Value: 3.5
Ambience: 3.5
Service: 3.5

A quick stop on my way home from uni. Been here a few times, and it's a hit and miss, with their pho not hitting the mark for me, and especially for its price too. There was more soup than noodles and beef was slightly dry. The aroma and taste of pho flavour, just wasn't there. However, the meat was fatty yet the broth had a very clean taste which I quite enjoyed.

Definitely will come back for their spring rolls and bun dishes!
My score 4.0 stars. J and I had lunch here on Tue 30 June, we’ve been here a few times many years ago.

A special occasion for the 2 of us (so I didn't bother taking photos). Plenty of spacing, staff were nice.

We had Panko Tofu - It was ok. Wasn't quite what I was expecting (a bit like a croquette). Nice sauce.
Fish salad - Really good. Yummy crumbed fish on a papaya salad. great balance.
Salt and pepper Eggplant - Ok but we've had better at other places in Footscray.
Scallop noodle - Moist scallops, really good. The crab sauce was really tasty.

$125 with a bottle of Loosen Riesling.

Sapa hill is a hipster-ised Vietnamese restaurant. There is a massive list of craft beer to choose from. The food in general is great. Some of our favourite dishes are bun cha hanoi, beef wrapped in betal leave with bahn hoi and hanoi style spring rolls.

This restaurant is located in the heart of Footscray. It has a modern pub-like feel, and a wide variety of local beers to match. There's an extensive beverage and food menu list. I came here with a group and ordered a range of dishes with rice. The food was delicious, and will definitely come back again.

Sapa Hills,
Vermicelli Rice Noodles with Beef and Spring Rolls. A slightly more western influence Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Footscray. Being more westernised the food isn’t as heavy in flavour compared to traditional dishes. None the less, the restaurant is well serviced by its staff and owner and the food is fine.

For a quick feed, during most hours the restaurant is busy but manageable with its sister store two stores away, due to popularity.

Recommended, if you’re looking for a place with good food in Footscray with a large variety of selections to choose from.

#food #foodporn #vietnamese #cruisine #melbourne #australia #foodie #noodles #springroll #beef

Love Sapa Hills. Great atmosphere and always delicious and fresh modern Vietnamese. Highly recommend.
Pickypiggy
This is one of, if not, the worst restaurant I have ever visited. Seared scallop? More like burnt scallop. Will not be revisiting.
The Pup
Step up from street standard Vietnamese. Good range of curries, hotpots and salads on top of the usual Noodle soups and spring rolls.

Crowd is made up of people that don’t really like Footscray and parents with their newly arrived ex private school gentrifiers.

Huge list of craft beers that are either unavailable or not as fresh as they could be, 3 or 4 of each beer style would suffice.

Service offered by staff other than the owner is ordinary. Worth a look. 3.5 for me.
Some Bunee Loves Food
Got the traditional vietnamese dish - the Broken rice with shredded pork, grilled pork chop and fried egg. It was nice, the grilled pork chop had a nice flavouring to it and the dish tasted best with the fish sauce poured over it.
Cikey Planet
The food is delicious and the size is larger than I imagined. But they served the dishes so slow. We wait almost an hour for our food.
MissCat
Our first time here, had a good experience. Food is not bad, we didnt order many today as we are quite full 😂 However the noodles we ordered today taste pretty good. We have to come back to try other dishes.
xx 💚
Myra
Unfortunately sapa hills is not for me. Did not enjoy what we ordered. I find the food either too sweet or too salty.
The Casual Diner
Will come back for:
+ Rice paper rolls with grilled pork and green apple
+ Vermicelli noodles with grilled beef and spring rolls
+ Fried flat noodles with duck

Loved the grilled meats in this place. You can really get the smokey flavors in the meats that are served here. The rice paper rolls with the grilled pork and green apple was a delightful way to start the meal off. Something savoury, fresh and light. The vermicelli noodles was freshly made and great as a filler to wrap the leaves around topped with a couple of pieces of the grilled meats dipped in their tasty fish sauce. And the fried duck flat noodles was super velvety, tasty and moorish. The avocado and custard apple smoothie lack bit of sweetness though, but that’s a relatively minor thing. Service was excellent, and prices are above average but justified by what you get. We certainly will be back!

Sapa Hills is hands down the best for delicious Vietnamese cuisine in a comfortable and stylish setting. I love their dishes to share (probably not my first choice for single meals like pho) and the flavours are pretty authentic, but they are also willing to adjust their spice levels where needed so would definitely appeal to a crowd.
Melb_Belly
Sapa hills is our go to vietnamese restaurant in footscray.

There portions are very generous and food is tasty as hell. Everything we've tried there has not let us down.

I can not recommend the grilled pork enough. The taste is purely amazing, I imagine an old vietnamese lady fanning hot charcoal under a wire grill to achieve such delicious flavours.
Moneta Tan
Such a disappointment.. we waited an hour for our food and watched as all the other tables came, ate and left before the staff even realised they forgot our order. Simple acknowledgement and an apology would have sufficed but they neglected that too. And then they also forgot part of our entree. We should have received a discount at least.. Won’t be coming back here..

I’ve heard raving reviews about this little restaurant and have been wanting to try it out for some time now. But I’ve always been a bit skeptic about going to a Vietnamese restaurant when I can get my mum to make it at home. However, this place blew me away with their dishes! My husband has the bun cha Hanoi (Hanoi style meatballs) & I had the grilled pork wrapped in betal leaf. Boy was I blown away! Definitely coming back to try more dishes on their menu! Can get really busy but loved that they can accomadate for kids as well! Great customer service!
The Honest Glutton
I usually come here for their vermicelli and beef special (Bun Thit Luong) which is a must try here! Their pineapple fried rice, salt and pepper tofu and fish fillet is really good here too! Special spring rolls are a must as well.

Overall a good choice for Vietnamese cuisine.

Great Vietnamese restaurant located on the busy Barkley Street! Authentic flavouring and an amazing variety of delicious food!

Food: 4/5
Service: 3/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5

Stopped by from the huge crowd during lunch rush. The food was okay however I do think there are better restaurants for Vietnamese cuisine. The crab noodle soup was quite lacking in flavour. However the betas leaf beef was very delicious! Overall I would say the prices are a bit high and aren’t worth the ordinary flavours.

Poor service, bad food and meal didn’t come.
Took forever for entree to come out.
After entree we waited a while until the owner slapped down a meal and ran off. My own meal didn’t come out.
Tried to grab the attention of the wait staff 3 times and was ignored. Finally got the attention of a staff member, had to ask twice where my meal was and wouldn’t get so much as an answer. They would just walk off.
Finally decided to just leave after being there for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The owner refused to discount the total bill. Was rude as hell. I explained that I had to watch my partner eat what he could tolerate of his meal (which he didn’t enjoy because the ribs just tasted like they were soaked in vinegar) and that I watched every customer that sat down and ordered after me eat their meal. I said that the meals should be coming out together. He said this was the best he could do (which is not good enough) and that the glazed salmon takes a long time to cook.
This is untrue. We ordered 40-50 minutes prior and I explained that if that’s the case they should prepare the ribs at a later time and explain the wait on the food. NUP he was actually quite hostile and rude and refused to discount the price of the repugnant meal which did eventually make it to the table. It was obvious that they just forgot to make the food but couldn’t admit to a mistake.
On the plus side, we didn’t actually go home hungry because the taste of the ribs made us sick enough to not want to eat.

FOOD TRIP
Sapa Hills in Footscray serves up a great fusion of Vietnamese and Thai inspired cuisine. They have all the essential vietnamese pho and bun dishes as well as a couple of fancier options. The restaurant is small but cosy. Would recommend trying out!. Grilled Beef in Betel Leaf with Fried Shallot, Mint and Peanut $13

Wow what a lot of beers. , I had mango beer loved it . Family dinner everyone loved it but could of had a few more vegetarian options.. sure we spotted frank camora

On a recent visit we were extremely disappointed at the quality of their food. My partner ordered the salt & pepper rockling (dry and salty), my salmon was drowned in a salty sauce, the scallops weren’t scallops. There was not one dish at our table that looked appetising. At no time did anyone ask how our meals were? Expensive fast food at its worst!
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: living so close to this restaurant I don’t know why I haven’t been before, but after visiting I finally understood why.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: had the banh canh cua which is a crab meat based soup with Vietnamese noodles - the noodles itself was cooked well and al dente. The soup was delicious, albeit not very hot. We also ordered the bo luc lac which is like a grilled steak cut into cubes. It was delicious - the meat was so tasty. This restaurant is also one of few restaurants that stock the lychee cider which is delicious! Kudos.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: prices are a little steeper than the normal Vietnamese restaurants so I understand why people choose to go to other ones. I feel like when you’re at a restaurant, you should give the full experience - I can just saw the toilets were putrid and really did not have a nice scent walking there down the side alleyway.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: great place for a feed but the whole facade of great ambience that made the restaurant turned sour when I went to the rest rooms. Can’t really justify the price if you just want a good Vietnamese feed in Footscray, but the bowls and utensils are somewhat better.

Sapa Hills what a treat.
Delicious spring rolls to start off with. My partner and I had three each. I tried one with lettuce and mint, lettuce on its own and one without the greens while dipping into the sauce provided with all three. Went down really well with my Rock Melon Juice(with Passion Fruit, Pineapple and I think one other fruit that I can’t remember?) talk about delicious.

For my main I ordered the Garlic Prawns with vegetables and my partner ordered Vermicelli with Ho Noi Style Beef. We shared a bit of each other’s dish.
My Prawns were amazing! Great dish with a good amount of prawns, the garlic sauce was great and a load of vegetables which I needed.
The Ho Noi Style was a little different, the beef just tasted like it was either smoked or grilled but still a good dish that was well paired with the vermicelli, lettuce and mint. Overall it was a great place to eat, well priced and the feel of the place was nice and cosy.

Will definitely be back for sure!
Went in on a busy Saturday night and this place was packed. The food was good and the menu choices were really good. Would have prefered was slightly more spaces between each table as it felt slightly cramp. The special springrolls was the highlight and it was crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside
Melbourne Lifestyle Blog
Sapa Hills ha been known as the best Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne for years. This was my third time to the Footscray location, and again I was impressed. It is busy (re-coining the term, cheap and cheerful), you are sat close enough to feel like the adjoining table is part of the family, and you will have to raise your voice to be heard.
Lizzy Keenan
This was pretty good Vietnamese but wasn’t the best Footscray has to offer - it was on the pricey side so I did expect a little more. We had the black pepper steak but the meat was not good quality - it was tough and gristly. The spring rolls were exceptional and the cold white coffee were beautiful.

Came here after seeing all the reviews... disappointed. Most overpriced and overrated Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to. 2 stars because the customer service was atleast good.

This place is pretty cute! It's smack bang in the middle of Footscray, with an al fresco area that means you can take your beloved pooch. The menu is extensive, and I settled on the salt and pepper tofu. It was nice, but didn't blow me away. I'd probably have preferred a harder tofu, though the seasoning was really good. The "salad" it was served with was really just iceberg lettuce and onion drowned in sweet chilli sauce. It was great to see a reasonably priced pinot noir on the menu. Service was really friendly and accommodating.

I was there yesterday and I must say I had a blast. The food was exceptional; my favourite being the spring rolls which I can only describe as a combustion of flavours. I don't know what they do back there in the kitchen but I can only assume the cooks were ignited with passion with flashes of brilliance. Price is also reasonable, a real bang for your buck. Would go again.

Footscray isn’t cheap anymore! This place stands out from the others. $14 pho? $16 bun? It had better be good. The first thing I noticed was it was packed a lunch time. The second was the wall of craft beer! I ordered the Hanoi style bun with grilled pork (code for assembly needed).

The grilled pork was excellent. It had a very smoky flavour. It also meant I was belching up smoke like puff the magic dragon for the next 3 hours. The sauce was actually very spicy. I also tried my mates Chicken ribs. Nice. The servings were very generous.

Delicious yes. Just don’t expect super cheap anymore.
Jessie Tran
Was not good at all tbh. It’s always so packed but the food does not taste like authentic vietnamese. No balance of flavours with what I ordered. The spring rolls were just so bad especially compared to the restaurant further down called Dinh Son Quan. The fried ice cream was gritty and strange, with cheap chocolate sauce on top. Not how fried ice cream should be!
Simmyeats.Melb
The high rating is what brought me here to Sapa Hills. I was in need of pho as I was feeling a little under the weather.

The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night, I was seated with no hassle.

My pho was good, the broth flavoursome and I enjoyed the noodles. I wasn't a huge fan of the beef, the cut was a little tough. I will definitely be back to try some other things on the menu as the food that I saw come out of the kitchen looked fab. Also, there are so many great reviews on Zomato so I'd love to come back and try a few different things.

Will come back for the bun and the grilled chicken. The chicken spare ribs fried rice was a tad dry. Some dishes came out really quickly while we had to wait for a couple of other dishes for quite a while.

4.5/5
Sapa Hills chef can make really good vegetarian stir fried noodles. I ordered the stir fried noodles and some rice paper rolls. The rice paper rolls unfortunately didn’t come with vermicelli noodles but still tasted good. Service was very attentive & friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant for the stir fried noodles.

One of my favorite restaurants in town
Great food, wide range of food selections
Especially love the stir fried rice noodles and stir fried beef. The beef tastes amazing
One more score, the staffs are super friendly and beautiful
Highly recommended^^

I came here with my sister and the atmosphere is great. The food was also delicious and came out quickly. Sadly in one of my dishes there was a hair in it but they replaced it quickly so no complaints there.

My only concern was that the service staff seemed to not be very prompt, for example our table didn’t have cutlery and when I requested someone for some I ended up having to ask again. They were rather busy so I’m presuming they were just rushed.

We ordered the satay chicken skewers, soft shell crab on a garden salad and prawns with red curry. Everything was delicious and their serving sizes are rather big!

Our overall experience was decent because the food is amazing and I may go back again simply to try the other dishes.
WhenFoodMeetsFiona
Ordered:
- chicken spring rolls
- special broken rice
- chicken and noodles

Spring rolls were average, nothing spectacular about them. Broken rice was nicely assembled and tasted average as well. What stood out about this place was the chicken that was in my dad’s chicken and noodle dish; it had sweetness in it and was sooooo soft and tender. Would love to come back to try their other dishes, not bad for Vietnamese food!

Came here with a few friends for Pho noodle soup (rice noodle soup with sliced beef and beef meat balls). Nice broth and the beef tasted best when dipped in hoi sin sauce!

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants around Footscray!! Delicious opinions and large variety of starters, mais and beers! Don’t skip the desserts, they will surprise you

the grilled chicken rice vermicelli noodles is the one of the best i’ve ever eaten! super fresh salad and the chicken was packed with flavour with a nice smoky aroma. nice place and really good food :)

It’s news to no one who lives West of the city centre that Sapa Hills churns out incredible Vietnamese food, but if you, like me, aren’t as acquainted with Footscray’s finest food establishments, please head there immediately and order the ‘Sapa Hills special fried rice’.
Bảo Trân
Fantastic food and very friendly staffs. The price is afordable. I will recommend for my friends and I will come back again for sure so happy
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.
Most creative use of herbs. Natural ingredients. Tasty food. Fry chicken with tomato rice week balanced favour; tofu rice vermicelli plenty of herbs balanced and surprising favours. Rated 4.5 but select 4 because the resturant is very busy; music loud; red ambient light feels rushed.
Andrew Shelton
Good service is just the start. The entree of grilled beef in betel leaves was juicy, delicious and generously proportioned. They nailed the soft shell crab, which was hot and crunchy. The duck with chilli and basil was very disappointing, as it was sliced thinly, cooked well-done and coated in sauce, all of which killed the flavour of the duck.
Ken Leung
This place is always busy eveytime i walkes past and i can see why after I've tasted their food. Order the crispy chicken rip with fried rice. The chicken was done perfectly but the only downside is the rice slightly too dry for me. But otherwise it's great dish and staff is very friendly

First time here and definitely want to come back to try more dishes ! Food and drinks were delicious and the service is fast. The restaurant has a modern feel but still keeping with its vietnamese roots :)

Sapa Hills. One of our favorite restaurants in Footscray and we eat minimum once a week. The food, the atmosphere and the staff are all incredible.
I would just give a heads up to all Vegans/ vegetarians many times I have ordered the vegetarian stock and been happily sipping away to find either a slither if chicken bone or piece of beef . Mistakes happen but just sure to insist it is vegetarian.
Chips Before Dips
Visited Sapa Hills with a friend for lunch, and we shared the steamed wontons to start, then each had a vermicelli salad bowl with beef and spring rolls for main.
We really enjoyed the wontons, and the vermicelli bowl was a generous portion. The meat in the salad bowl had a delicious, smokey flavour. The only let down was the salad dressing was virtually tasteless, and served mostly as an oil to stop it from being dry.
Mish 🍔❤️
The staff were nice, the venue looked quite nice although it’s very small and crowded. The tables and chairs are all very close to each other.
I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee, sapa hills spring rolls and lemongrass beef with rice. I didn’t like the sapa hills spring rolls because they lacked flavour, I found them quite bland. The lemongrass beef with rice tasted very nice.
One.hungry.girl10
Came here for family dinner. Always a packed little restaurant as the food is delicious. With a bit of a modern twist this restaurant is the perfect spot for a weekend treat. We had the special pork clay pot, Hanoi style sweet and sour fish and chicken ribs. The serves were generous and the food was tasty and fresh.
TH
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Footscray if not Melbourne! Service is lovely , efficient and the food is consistently delicious. This place has more of a Northern Vietnamese influence, is usually busy but you don't really have to wait for long to get a table.
Damian Tingle
Overall I would say that the food was a overpriced for what you actually received. I ordered the house special pork rib clay pot, which when it arrived was 75% tofu and had one pork rib chopped up into tiny pieces. For the price paid for this is really bad value for money but the taste was great just a little too sweet. I visited last week around 2, which the vast majority of our time there was interrupted by the waiting staff dragging chairs around making conversation hard due to noise. The staff were cleaning all of the chairs, which is great but that should be done before people arrive to eat at the establishment.
Mary-Anne Camenzuli
Absolutely loved it! Went here with 5 others, had a banquet and could not speak more highly of the food. Loved every dish. Great service also and the food came out quickly.
Michael
Delicious Vietnamese food but catered to a western audience . The bamboo prawns are good but are no longer on the menu. Their sister store is right next door
Chris
Trying the restaurant for the first time. Food was decent but told us that they lost our order only after we waited 20 mins! It probably tasted better since we were starving!
Cindy Tran
Rate 2.5
One of the restaurants in Footscray that looks much more elegant and classier and aims towards modern Vietnamese food.

Ordered combination crispy fried egg noodles $16: Very mediocre dish the veggies that were included were super soggy and over cooked. There were more vegetables that both the noodles and meats. But flavour wise it was ok I guess.

Service: very attentive and nice!!

Night out with some friends and my fiancé at Sapa Hills in Footscray. Got to say it’s quiet good very different setup to many vietnamese restaurant, more welcoming for other cultures as well. Great place to hang a few drinks and eat.
The Food Book
One of the classier Vietnamese resraurants I've been to. Always come around for their signature vermicelli with traditional spring rolls and meatballs. Love the modern and clean feel to the restaurant that gives its inviting vibe
Ilovetoomnom
This place is always popular, and there’s definitely a good reason for it. Service has always been great whenever I’ve visited and prices are reasonably priced for what you get. The serving for the Rice Vermicelli was decent and there was a generous amount of the beef provided.

We decided to try the restaurant out after looking at the reviews, and unfortunately were very disappointed with the food. We were all native Vietnamese, and found that 3 out of 4 courses ordered (caramelized tofu/veg in hotpot, Vnese sour soup w/ Barramundi, and pork ribs with soy sauce & pepper in claypot) were so salty that we couldn't go past a few bites, and had to pack them away.
It was the first time ever that we had to complain about the food to every single staff member that we had a chance to talk to, and hopefully the feedback can be passed on to the kitchen team.
Rachael
Delicious delicious food. Open late night and hustling and bustling. On the upper end of the average prices in this area but totally worth a visit. Especially loved the broken rice with pork.
Food Hoarder
I was craving salted fish & chicken fried rice, so that’s what I ordered. I was anticipating salty umami dried fish, that pairs so well with the neutral rice, cooked in a super high heat wok. I was so gutted that this dish did not really deliver the taste I was after. The salted fish was salty but it was also sweet & had a gummy texture. The rice was cooked well, but it also took on the sweetness of the dried fish & the flavour was just disappointing.

The restaurant was also playing top 40 music really really loud & I could not hear a single word my friend was saying. We had to shout to hear each other. This kind of ruined the dining experience alongside the sweet fish.
Adriana
The staff are friendly and very accommodating. We went at a super busy time so it was quite crowded - but this is to be expected. They do not take bookings so be prepared to wait during busy times.
Great range of traditional Vietnamese and some unique twists on offer in their extensive menu. The Sapa spring rolls are a must. The scotch fillet in peppercorn sauce was also beautiful - nice cut of meat and cooked perfectly. In terms of the Pho - I have had better. However, it still hit the spot on a cold melbourne evening. They also had a great range of wines on offer for those who forget to BYO. I’ll definitely be returning to try a few more of their dishes I had my eye on!

Dare I say it? Best. Vietnamese. Restaurant. In. Melbourne! Enough of the full stops. This place has everything that you will love about Vietnamese food - lots of flavour, many textures and huge servings for good prices!

The food: we came in with a group of friends and had the combination spring rolls, bun thit nhuong another beef dish that I forgot the name of as well as broken rice with pork chop and prawn soup, which was eaten too quickly to take a photo of as it was just too good! My favourite the bun was just beautiful - the bbqd meat was full of flavour and cooked just right. The herbs and pickles gave some amazing zing to it and the noodles brought everything together. The other beef dish had a tangy sticky sauce that reminded me of Chinese stir fried beef which is great and the vegetables were the real star of the dish - all with a good bite to them and covered in this beautiful sticky sauce. Broken rice and pork chop is one of these dishes that look so simple but are actually quite hard to get right and here they got it damn right!

The service: in most restaurants in Footscray you hear a lot of shouting and people are ushered rather quickly in and out of the restaurant. Here is a different vibe with friendly service and a more elegant fit out.

The pricing: for only about $25 per person we were all super full and had each a glass of beer or wine. What more can you ask for for such a great price?

Overall, a fantastic experience. I’ve been here multiple times now and actually surprised I haven’t reviewed it yet. One of the rare 5s I have ever given and it was well deserved!
StepiiGM
Big, hearty meals! They give small serving of soup when you order the rice dishes, which I think is the same soup with the pho? Not too sure 🤔

Anyway, chicken ribs and pork chop were so tasty! Would definitely come back for other menu.

Busy restaurant in the heart of Footscray. Food was delicious. It’s a shame they don’t treat “Westerners” like they do their own. I asked about a curry dish someone next to me was eating and the waiters response is “this isn’t something westerners will like”. My Pho was constructed already, something I don’t like.

Interesting little spot with some delicious little bites. A must try at this cute place has to be the sapa special spring rolls. Very crispy, fresh and a lovely porky taste that was authentic in every bite. Take it to another level by dipping in there special sauce which was nutty and just lovely mixed all together. Vegetarian rice paper rolls were amazingly fresh and tasty, being mainly a meat eater I felt very satisfied with these tasty little bites.

Fresh and good food. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked into Sapa hill for dinner, it wasn’t too crowded at that time so the service was instant and the food came quickly too. The portion size is definitely worth the price and the food was refreshingly fresh & tasty.

Delicious food, amazing quantities and substantial amounts! It was such a good combination of crispy fried special spring rolls, well-flavoured grilled pork chop, and wholesome pho soup broth with tender meat. I definitely appreciated the generous amount of vegetables, as I do like well-balanced meals (even when going out!). I initially thought that $14 for 4 spring rolls was quite steep, but they were definitely a much larger type of spring roll with more ingredients and a special coating. Will be coming back here whenever I need a satisfying meal with lots of fresh herbs and vegetables!

Heard a lot of good reviews about Sapa Hills and I was surely not disappointed. Must try: sapa spring rolls, pork
Belly and soft shell crab in tamarind sauce. Good to try: sapa hills fried rice and seasonal vegetables w tofu. Basically, all the food was yummy and everyone left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Great for family gatherings!

Excellent! I usually reserve 5 stars for the likes of the Flower Drum, but we aren’t comparing apples to apples here! Nicely fitted out, great decor, friendly & attentive service, lovely people. Amazing variety of craft beers - very extensive drinks menu all round. We ordered the Sapa Hills special spring rolls, chicken satay skewers (unusual flavour, could taste cinnamon) which were delicious & our benchmark item, chicken with chilli & lemongrass. Everything had a nice kick, glad to find they did not tone the spice down because we are Caucasian. It was a bit of a hike from the Eastern suburbs but well with the trip. We will definitely be back. I see they have s restaurant in Hawthorn, so will give it a try in the near future.

Sapa Hill is a busy restaurant around Footscray so that's why we decide to have a go. It was experiment. We ordered combination spring rolls, Ha Hoi styled grilled pork and chicken Lemmon grass and chilli and three colour drinks. The spring rolls were not too bad but it's not the best so far. The staff doesn't have knowledge to figure out what types of spring roll. The Ha Noi styled grilled pork was yummy. My friend can't stop eating. The pork pancake were yummy same with the pork belly (if I'm correct). The chicken lemon grass is a next stop for our main course. The taste was alright not thing to special about but the chicken was a little bit touch to eat. The drink is a mistake to try it. We sat near the kitchen. It's a bad place to sit when it's busy. We heard the bell sound for a whole dinner time. The cooker needs to be relax with the bell. Overall,
Food: 3.5/5
Staff: 3.5/5
Astmophere: 3/5

I have been coming here for years - no matter where I move, I'm happy to drive here because the food is so good! All the meals taste fresh and delicious - try their broths! The service is friendly and its incredibly well priced.
Sinfully Delicious
We tried this place because of its high reviews on Zomato but were very disappointed. There are plenty of better Vietnamese places in Footscray. Food was real average and not authentic Vietnamese. The Sapa spring rolls and strawberry love cocktail were the only things we enjoyed out what everything we ordered. The Vietnamese coleslaw with fish was pleasant but nothing to rave about. The seafood noodles were mushy n lacked flavour, The “duck” curry needed more spice and not sure that the brown over cooked looking meat was duck. The pork belly with eggplant was the worse dish, It was sour n not nice at all. The Decor and service was good. It was very popular place and abit squished but they turn the tables over quickly.

Absolutely delicious. There were so many dishes I wanted, I'll have to go back 20 times!
I'll have to have the roast duck spring rolls with plum sauce every time though.
Extensive menu, huge drinks list and lovely fresh cocktails.
2 of us went Friday night. The place was packed but we luckily scored a table pronto! We shared an entree....rice paper rolls...packed with giant prawns! Shared duck with basil...delicious flavours! Staff were run off their feet...so busy...forgot our drinks...other than that, excellent food! Quick and delicious! Highly recommended!

I’ve walked past Sapa Hills a few times and it’s always packed ! Located near the Footscray market, the restaurant is relatively quiet on Friday evening when we walked in around 6 pm. The place has great vibes and the staff are very attentive. The menu offers a good range of beverage and food. We ordered lychee lime cocktail, lychee beer, Sapa Hills spring roll, Beef betel, quails with honey from the entree list. The service is on point, food is fresh and delicious! Will definitely return to try the other dishes!

Probably the best Vietnamese food I be ever had in Melbourne. It is quite pricey especially in Footscray but does worth the price. The portion is generous, and the service is good too.

Extensive beer selection and every dish we had was very tasty. We did have a little bit of a wait for a table but they have seating out the back which is good.

Coming home from a girls trip in Daylesford we wanted a good feed and Sapa Hills definitely delivered.
Ambience was buzzing with people, we were greeted and seated immediately. I wanted something fresh and had the pork and spring roll vermicelli, flavours were bang on! I washed this down with an avocado smoothie! Sooo amazing
My bestie who is a vegetarian had such a variety to choose from on the menu (traditionally limited) had the egg noodle and tofu chilli stir fry said her meal delicious.
Highly recommended, great value for money and delicious food!

One of the better Vietnamese restaurant in Footscray, haven’t tried many dishes here but the ones i did are nice. Vermicelli with bbq pork is popular here.

Super yummy.
Do get the vego fried rice. It comes with such a great selection of chunky veg, tofu and egg (if you want it) and is a great serve too! Showed my partner that you can make an awesome fried rice, even without meat!
Do get the salt n pepper calamari! Massive chunks. So tender! And extra salt on the side so you can eat it as salty/not so salty, as you like.
For a healthier option try the veg noodle soup or the seafood noodle soup. Both can be prepared with a veg stock (which can be very difficult to find in 99% of asian style restaurants) and tastes delish.

Clean inside. Great staff knowledge on what's vego and what isn't on their menu. Very informative. Can get busy but always fast moving. Good value for yummy food. Next time I'm ordering the salt n pepper eggplant.

Side note-accidentally got given a fried rice with chicken in it. All got fixed coz i noticed straight away but just confirm when your meal comes out. Better safe than sorry. ☺

Enjoy, foodies!

Came here on a Tuesday night at 5:30pm with the family. Although when we arrived it was still quite empty, by 6 it was very busy full of customers. The staff here were very friendly and service is very fast.

Food:
- vegetarian coleslaw: very refreshing, sweet and tangy salad that was generously topped with crispy tofu, cashews, peanuts and fried shallots. The dressing is absolutely delicious, and pairs well with the crackers on the side.
- sapa hills fried rice: generously filled with prawns, squid, pork, egg and bean sprouts. Very flavourful and slightly spicy.
- dropped rice noodle soup with crab meat: flavour was spot on! Very comforting on a cold night, the noodles were chewy and soup was packed full of seafood.
- barramundi with soybean and pepper in clay pot: this came piping hot in a lovely clay pot bowl. The sauce was absolutely delicious, slightly sweet and salty, and the fried tofu mixed with it was divine. The barramundi was so tender and delicious.

Overall, we had a great meal for a very reasonable price. We decided to take away the fried rice with salted fish and chicken. Would definitely recommend if you’re in Footscray!

Nice Vietnamese food, specially the spring roll, dropped rice noodle soup with seafood (i love the texture of dropped rice noodles!) and sweet n sour chicken. But the fried rice, veggie tofu n soft shell crab can be much better. Also, it's quite crowded in there, not suitable for big group of ppl to have gathering.
