Review 8bit - Footscray

Julie Tieu
Came here on a Monday afternoon for a late lunch on a public holiday, it was relatively quiet so we were well looked after. The food was tasty, burgers and chips were good, the onion rings lacked a little seasoning but otherwise had good crunch. One tiny issue would be cleanliness, the place was a little sticky and the bathroom a bit untidy. Overall a good experience!

I remember how good it was went I ate here for the first time in 2019. But after starting uni in the city I haven’t eaten much food in Footscray anymore. I gave it another try as I was nearby and oh where did the good old days go 😩 The burgers were drier than some cheap fast food chain and being around $15 for 1 I expected more. The fries, they fried and put the cheese on it before they started making the burgers so it was just sitting there going all soggy by the time they served it. Thankfully I got the bottled tea, my friend got the shake and after 1 sip, he said it will give him diabetes 🙃

Customer Service 5/5 I asked the lady behind a counter if they had any secret off the menu burgers. She kindly said not at this stage but recommended the GAUNTLET with avocado. We also ordered the 8BIT WITH CHEESE which for a cheese burger, it was pretty good. Cleanliness 5/5

This place used to have amazing burgers but lately it has been a hit and miss. We ordered gauntlet burgers with no bacon, chicken was over cooked and not much flavour. The music was so loud and it was really hard to even order food but that’s my personal opinion. Saving grace was the Nutella milk shake

8bit is a pretty cool little Burger Joint, I like the theme but I feel there's more that could be done as far as the place being video game themed, the Burgers are pretty nice, the taste reminds me of a Burger you would get from a Fish & Chip Shop, the staff are friendly and there is a free Retro Arcade Game you can play, although it wasn't working when I was there so that was disappointing, I Recommend 8bit Burgers if you are close by.

Tried their veggie burger and 8 Bit burger. While their 8 bit burger was quite delicious and the beef patty was very scrumptious, their Veggie Burger Patty made from Quinoa and Chickpeas was on the dry side. In my view the beef burger was amazing, but I wouldn't call it one of the best in Melbourne. Their peanut butter shake was quite nice too! Service was pretty quick.Overall, a decent experience.
F Paul
It's ok. Sorry but I couldn't find what's special about the burger. It is freshly made, and service is good.

This place features frequently in many "best burger in Melbourne" lists, so we went with high hopes. Customer service is spot on. Menu is small but good choice. Went for the famous double dragon burger and salted caramel milkshake. The burger was OK. Thats it. The buns were quite cruncy and even the patty was cooked to crispy levels. I felt there were too many elements in the burger and some of them dont blend in. Its a big burger so better to go for other flavours if you are not very hungry. Caramel milkshake was good. Nothing extra ordinary. The ambience is very modest, the place is dilapidated with torn wall papers, littered toilets and sticky/wet benches. The 8bit can be a "bit more" cleaner. On the burger side, i felt the place is overhyped. To me still the best burger in town is from Butlers Smokehouse.
Quince And Cheese
I'm picky about veggie burgers but the quinoa burger from 8bit is great. It has plenty of veg, is the perfect mix of wholesome and decadent, AND it has haloumi! Chips are also pretty okay on their own and better stuffed in the burger.
TigerTreeEats
Great burgers although I'm not sure I would drive 20mins+ for it. Everything was tasty. I liked having two slices of tomato.
Re Re
Delicious burgers and really nice milkshakes. They have really nice vegetarian options but maybe just need to add more ice cream to the shakes as they seem a little watery. Other then that. Excellent!
Miss T.A
Generous amount of filling within the burger. Meat cooked to perfection. See staff cook in action. Small and casual eatery. Fries seasoned well.

After 3 trips here over a year I’ve finally settled on giving this place 4 stars. Very up and down with quality but when it’s good it is GOOD! Referring to the burger btw, loaded fries have fake cheese which I hate!
Quynh Le
The wonderboy hot dog was nice. Soft bun, great smoke taste to the hotdog. Onion rings were super oily although they were crunchy. Would skip on these onion rings next time. Quick service!
Coco F
Best chicken burger in Melbourne! Tender breast, very juice, very flavoursome) Best milkshake too, bit too expensive tho (not a bad thing as sometimes food, hehe). And the chips are very tasty too.
Food Monkey
We heard about it a few times but we are slightly taken back with the taste. It was very unfortunate indeed. We ordered golden axe, 8 bit burger, onion rings and Nutella shake. The burgers were horrible - oily, bland, and distasteful. Onion rings were slimy and super oily. Not everyday I waste food but it was really hard to finish. only good thing was the shake which I used to wash my mouth off to get rid of any evidence of residual.

The beef burgers at 8bit, Melbourne CBD are among the very best I’ve tasted in recent memory.

So when I decided to try my usual 8bit with Cheese at 8bit Footscray two weeks ago (Thurs 28 March, around 7:30pm), I was expecting it to be as good if not better than the CBD one. Which was why I was all the more shocked at the abhorent quality of the 8bit with Cheese at Footscray.

Everything that made it so delicious at the CBD restaurant was everything that was wrong with the Footscray one - the bread was dry, the beef pattie was dry and the sauce lacked taste. I felt like I was eating at a completely different burger chain, such was the gaping difference in quality between the CBD and the Footscray locations.

I don’t know if this is indicative of the difference in quality between the two locations, as I’ve been to the CBD one many times and Footscray only once, but I certainly won’t make the mistake of going back to 8bit Footscray anytime soon!
FoodieGary
nothing really special about this place, it seems that has lost its appeal over the years. The burger I has was a bit sloppy with the meat tasting a bit dry.
The customer service is nothing to rave about.
Stelly
The original 8bit store. We used to come here regularly, back when it was pretty new and there was always a ton of people. I really love their Golden Axe burger! The chicken is so crispy and tender and works so well with the mayo. Their fries are also really good - thick and crispy, even by the time we brought it home.

I also tried their Zelda burger recently which I wasn’t really a fan of. The chickpea patty tasted very ‘spiced’ and the rest of the fillings were quite scarce.
Fahreza
Their loaded fries was lovely ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️. The footscray store was awesome too. It caught you in the middle of great neighbors and the store’s ambience is one of a kind.

Came today for the first time and have to say i am really impressed. love the retro/americana feel and also as an old skool gamer...i got a hell of a kick out of the menu item names.
Golden Axe & Wonderboy anyone?

As for the food. i absolutely loved it!
Best burgers i have had. The meat was juicy and flavourful and the onion rings are to die for!
And personally my fave part is proper SOFT sesame burger buns! So sick of other places using current insert fashionable bread that you could crack a tooth on!

These guys keep it simple, classical and focus on flavour. Loved it and i left in a food coma and had to take a nap when i got home.

So good!

Definitely will return and recommend!
Trickyniky1
Can not beat an 8bit burger! I drool at the thought of my ‘Altered Beast’ with beer battered fries! Been here countless times and I have never been disappointed. The service is good as well as the restaurant being unique. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
Ana Jansz
Good burgers, cool little burger joint in Footscray, very simillar to Huxtaburger, New York Minute ect, they are all pretty much the same to me.
Melbourne Foodie
Interesting burger however messy to eat as all the ingredients were placed to 1 side so kept slipping out of the bun.
Shocked at the staff's hand hygiene practice
Service could have been better. A smile doesn't take a lot of effort.
Jessie Tran
The burgers were alright. The beef pattie was just so dry and salty I couldn’t seem to enjoy the rest of the burger cause of it. My friend ate the double axe and said the chicken was good. The potato gems are good but they’re the same as the ones from the supermarket, so not that special.
Kathleen
Haven’t been to 8bit for a while and came back and ordered the loaded fries, golden axe burger, 8bit with cheese and the coconut and red bean milkshake. As I waited for food I watched one of the staff clean a table, didn’t wash his hands and proceed to pick up the buns using his bare hands. This put me off and by the time the burgers came out my one was cold and the staff forgot our milkshake. Otherwise the milkshake was very unique and I enjoyed it but I wouldn’t come back again
Jariahus Falesima
Some of the best burgers in town. Very tasty and filling, shakes are also nice. Tried the loaded fries too and wasnt dissapointed. If visiting melbourne highly reccomend this burger joint.
Anmar Affan
Top class service top class burgers, good music selection. Got a good vibe and a positive experience. Staff are friendly and the food is good, what more.
Kim T
First things first, the vibe of the place: kickback, chilled, happy hour, bright. LOVE.

8bit did not disappoint. Loved the transparent layout of their kitchen so you can see the burger chefs do their thing behind the grills before it gets served to you.

The burgers themselves, very high standard. As a burger enthusiast, I will admit, I favour 8bit over a few other popular places. Good flavour, beef patty was grilled well and seasoning was generous. Didn't mind paying extra for jalapeños, although they didn't deliver the spice hit I was looking for.

Good prices, flexibility in extras, great array of sides and drinks, how could you go wrong?
Staff were laid back, easy to talk to and delivered well in both their in house orders as well as external orders. Definitely coming back!
Jessica Cumine
Juicy, flavoursome and filling! Great service and comfortable atmosphere.

Might rate a 5 if the patties are cooked well done, but that’s just me.

:)
Yumyumfoodyum
Fast friendly service and delicious burgers. Ordered the after burner which had just enough jalapeños, it was a sloppy mess by the end which is how a good burger should be. Beer batter chips are yummy and the onion rings were good too.
Vivian
4.5
Came here to try out the new Liven collaboration with 8bit . The insert coin burger had a bright red bun, juicy beef patty, crispy bacon all the regular tomato lettuce onion etc but what was unique about it was the smash avo and fetta !! This was a concept I have never heard of or even thought about before ! The combination was so good , especially paired with the potato gems which of course I had to get .

Thanks for having us !
Ann T
Service wasn’t great. Quality and service has gone downhill since the last time I went here. Chips are great but who can get chips wrong lol also forgot my sauce... :( burger buns are good
Joshua Cumine
One of the best burgers I’ve tried in the west, burger is neat and well presented. Perfectly cooked patty and all the flavours go well together. Would try again.
Daniel
A very hip and trendy place. Recommend the burgers but not the hot dogs. Chips were really good! Don’t expect customer service. will be back to try out the milk shake and other burgers.
The_littlehungrylife
Happen to drop by 8bit a cute retro gaming inspired burger joint! I love the quirky burger names and flavours. The burger is on point and I really enjoyed our beer batter chips! Would definitely love to try their milkshakes next time! The only thing was the wonder dog wasn’t the best and I would opted for another burger over this in future.
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: my all time favourite burger store and has never disappointed.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: my favourite is the mushroom burger and it’s crumbled and is a big fat portobello! The meat patty burgers are also very juicy and the cheese is melted perfectly. The salted caramel milkshake is amazing!

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: it’s a little oily so make sure you have a clean meal before or after this one. The strawberry cheesecake milkshake is also a little too much for my liking as it’s overpowering.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: A great place for burgers and staff are awesome here!
Ciro
Consistently great burgers and the Nuttella milkshake was a winner too!! 👍🏼👍🏼

Ordered a double dragon and beer batter fries ... best burgers in the West!!

8 bit. More like ate sh#t. When my partner and I ate at the Footscray store today we must have ordered the devalued meal: No friendly service, waiting 20 mins for our burgers (6 people in the kitchen! only 3 tables when we arrived!), music so loud we needed to shout at each other and our meal going to the wrong table before it came to us. Unreal. When we questioned the guy waiting our table if the other table had eaten any of it we got a reassuring "no I asked them if they did and they said they didn't" and then we got to eat our room temp burgers. Just to be clear i have not eaten at HJ or Macca's for over 15 years but the memories of flavour flowed today. Same stuff but with the option of a bit of spicy sauce and increased prices.

After hearing a lot of hype about this place, I finally got around to giving it a try. In my opinion it was rather average. Nothing out of the ordinary. The burger was okay, the meat was cooked well however nothing special. The highlight for me was the cheese and bacon fries. The chips were crisp and well seasoned and served with a generous helping of cheese sauce and bacon bits. Customer service was good. The restaurant was a bit messy the time we were there and I don't enjoy the table layout as there's only two booths and the rest are all benches.

I’ve been a customer for about a year and am generally happy with the food and the service. Until tonight, I went back from a long break, to find maybe a new staff, an Asian lady with short spiky hair, using the same gloves that she prepared food in, to bring a cardboard box from outside, touching the door handle, then opening and breaking the box within the kitchen area, and went back to her fries station without changing the gloves! I was horrified but did not know who to report to, as all staffs looked so busy. The restaurant had about 4 dine-in customers at that time , but maybe there were online/take away orders, so I did have a wait for about 10 minutes.
Chris
By far one of the best burgers I’ve had to date! I had The After Burn which oozed of so many different flavours from the sauce and toppings. You can really taste every element of ingredient which compliments the burger as a whole. There was a good flow of sauce dripping but the bun is a good density which holds everything together. Was so good to see a bit of pink in the patty too which is how I prefer it. 👍🏻
Jessie
Really nice burger with well-fried chips. Always enjoy the burgers here with joyful ambiance and atmosphere. Staff are on point, and the service is quite fast.
Hungry For Chips
Celebrated National Burgers Day with a great burger from 8bit. Always good to go with the original store so we made our way to Footscray. Highlights: juicy burger with great taste. Lowlights: perhaps a little too juicy!
Steven Gu
8bit at Footscray Melbourne. A popular burger restaurant in Melbourne. Definitely well known in young generation with a nice ambience and friendly staff. Highly recommended for the veggie and beef burgers.
Lulu T. Legrand
The place is a bit run down, and needs an update re seating area and interior. However, you don't go there to enjoy the premises.

My burger was excellent regarding flavour, easy to eat, well assembled, and the way is presented is perfect not to make a mess on the table. My only criticism is that there was a noticeable difference in temperature between the bun and the filling, something I found odd. Flavour is everything to me, so this was a very flavoursome burger.

Onion rings and the accompanying sauce were awesome re flavour, but the rings were a bit oily.

Friendly staff. Fast-ish service.

I'll be back.
Ken Leung
Used to be very busy but seems to becoming quiet now. I went here last Friday. Order after burner it's ok for what it's worth. Just another fancy burger place for me
Ayapom
These burgers are really good had them when they first opened and been going back again to get there burgers. Double dragon is my must eat burger.
George David Michaelides
Still kicking goals In 2018
Hotdog is now my go to you can get burgers anywhere these days but they still are the best for me. You must go in and order and eat right away don’t expect greatness from lazyeats chips and burgers don’t travel well
Bianca
PROS
That they have veg burger options at all,is a pro. 1 Up Mushroom Burger is pretty yummy.think mcdonalds but more filling and a nice big battered mushroom to chow down on. Beer battered chips taste great and were a perfect cross between wedges and thick cut chips. Friendly and helpful service.

CONS
Mayo is a very basic flavoured mayo.not expecting home made necessarily but a whole egg mayo/kewpie or even an aioli would be so much better with the delish chips.burger bun itself was a bit sweet for my liking and it was a bit hard to eat with all the liquids dripping out.

FYI
Liven have some good promo codes for 8bit atm but remember to use the full credit in 1 order as can only be redeemed once. Dining area has a few booths and the rest are stools and bar tables and an arcade game machine at the back is a perfect finishing touch.
Coco
Really used to rate this place until they started with UBER EATS. Waited over 30 minutes for 2 burgers late on a Sunday night with hardly any other customers in store. It's clear they prioritise the Uber Eats and Deliveroo orders over the in store orders. Let a staff member know that we were unhappy with the wait time and she replied with "weren't you told at the register that there's at least a 30 min wait?". No, we werent and if we had been told we would not have ordered. Also ordered a burger without onions and that request was ignored. Rude unapologetic staff. Won't be returning.
Brian Flanagan
Burgers are good, wouldn’t say amazing!! However the servings of chips, onion rings and gems seem to have halved their serving size lately. Especially on take away. Better burger joints in Footscray than this one that rips u off.
Ms Rodrigo
The first time I went to this place the service was great and the food was amazing. It was really busy and was a bit hard to find a place to sit even. The second time we had burgers their my chicken burger was over cooked and tasted real bad. So that was my last time going there.
The Food Book
Did gradually grow a part from 8 bit but a recent visit made me realise that I shouldn't order the double dragon (can get a bit too greasy) and that their burgers aren't too bad. The loaded fries are pretty addictive too so guess I'm hooked back on.
Cindy Vu
I got After burner : thick piece of beef n nice japaleno kick
My bf got Alterred beast: thinner cut of beef and a slice of bacon.
Side: beer batter chips are yummy dont miss it.

Me n my bf prefer After Burner cos it got thicker beef patty and taste nicer . So After burner next time for us .
Trevor Pi
Ordered through Deliveroo was told the order was going to be late after 45 minutes another 45 minutes later the food arrived dead cold soggy mess, Deliveroo told me they would re cook it but the management at 8 bit decided to send the food out cold
Absolutely disgusting but according to 8 bit and Deliveroo I should be happy I got my money back
Sack who ever was involved in the debacle
OneHungryHuman
One day in Melbourne and decided to give these burgers a crack! Great choice! Juicy, full of flavour and the gems were super crunchy! Great feed. Stoked you guys are now open in Sydney
Princess Picky
If 8bit was in my suburb I would be a fat AF ! Best burgers and the quality is always consistent! The staff are friendly and I always finish my meal (rarely do)
Melissa
PEANUT BUTTER SHAKE!!! Yes yes yes.

Burgers are okay, not mind-blowing, just a regular burger.
Deco is great, love the retro style.
But get the peanut butter shake.

P.S. expect a queue on friday/weekend nights.
THE PARMA COUPLE
one things for sure - food and restaurant looks very appealing!! 😚 but felt sick after a while trying to eat it 🤮 also location wise it's alright?? probs can walk from footscray station 🤷 ooh and pricing could be better 😳
Simon Walker
Double Dragon with a chicken Addon is the best. It’s all good if I’m honest. Worth getting fat for. Those onion rings as well. Such a great burger joint
Doris J.
Nice vibe ! Live the old schooled game bg :) burgers and milkshakes well done . It's just delightful to see staff making food right in front of u.
Wendy Torres
One of my fav burger places. 8bit definitely hits the spot, it is one of the better burger places I've tried. They serve up a good size burger, super juicy and tasty. I keep it simple and order the classic 8bit burger and never disappoints. Why 8bit differs from the rest is because there hotdogs are also amazing! The 8bit dog is big and never dry. As well as there shakes, onion rings, shakes etc etc. This place is always heaving no matter what time of day it is, so expect a cosy lunch spot and bit of a wait.
Munch On Melbourne
I may have tried this place too late as I have had burgers very similar to this until now.
Not saying its a bad thing but to me its nothing new. Having said that the burgers were great!
The sriracha fried chicken burger was a complete knockout! the hotdogs were ok.
Service was very good, polite & friendly. This place has minimal seating that gives a 'quick bite' vibe but I think would benefit with expanding and adding larger tables as I saw families and larger groups walk in aimlessly looking for a spot to cram their prams & kids.
James Wang
Really nice burger shop, good location and easy park. The burger tasted very nice and fresh, very time be there is full of people. Everyone want to try this nice and famous burger.
Stuii.lowe
Shop does not allow phone orders and requires you to order and then wait in store. Large waste of time. Only other method was through zomato according to their phone message however this is also out of date.
Ryszard Adamczyk
Expensive burgers, tiny milkshakes and 40 mins to make a couple of burgers and some potato gems. Disappointing... will not be back.

Might make my own burgers at home next time.
John Alan Del Forno
Did you call their main line hoping to order and get their auto response saying to use zomato?

You then found this lovely review and noticed.. you can't order online. Utter devastation.

If their food wasn't so horrible for you but so delicious.. I'd give them one star.

Someone point towards the button, I'm male and you know how hard it is for us men to find the button

Added a payment option.. still no order button. What is this maddness!
KnowingMelbourne
Definitely one of my favourite burger joints in Melbourne. I feel like this was one of the first places that made those American style burgers. Really tasty and well cooked and they’ll fill your burger craving for sure! I highly recommend!
Split The Bill
We needed a late Friday night meal after some heavy drinking, thankfully we knew 8bit was still open and headed there. We ordered the altered beast and the 8bit burger, plus onion rings and loaded fries with cheese. It all went down well, I love the burgers here and would definitely visit again when in the area.
Rachael
Decorations of this chain has always been so interesting. I like the nerdy gamer themed burgers, decor and staff. Prices have been right and the flavouring very interesting and unique compared to other chains. I tried the Zelda which is the chickpea combined with beetroot and avocado. Very nice combination and very filling. Would return if I was in the area.
Mark Palmer
This place never fails!!!! Definitely in my top burgers I have ever eaten. Always juicy Smokey patty’s with the right amount of sauce. The bun is always spot on and doesn’t fall apart. The cheese and bacon fries was unreal too not hell sickening. 🙌👏🍔🍟
Yulz
Sunday and it was sunny and wanted something quick and tasty. Went to this burger joint place as 2 friends recommended before and they said this place serves delicious burgers. The place is funky with retro video game arcade decoration. Blue and white seems to dominate the colour. After reviewing their menu, decided to order their after burner burger and potatoes gems. It's a good choices cos burger is delicious, tasty beef patty and added on jalapeno and chili sauces gives it a spicy kick. Potatoes gems us their version of mini hashbrowns, it was crunchy and tasty. Happy with the recommendation and happy to recommended this place. 😊😊😊
Lorelle Knowles
I LOVE 8bit. Never had a bad burger, chips are sometimes a bit stingy when ordering online, but the burgers are so filling and delicious I don’t mind much. We eat here at least once a month, while we also try a new burger place every month. So far 8bit is the best!!! Thanks for the burgers everytime ;)
Blergh!
This place used to rock. The burgers were awesome. Lately they seem to be less yummy and more greasy. The loaded fries are still the bomb though. I could eat them for ever... Wish the staff were less snobby though...
Live2Eat
8bit has been my favourite of the burger joints so far. Hadn’t had it in a while, and after revisiting it’s confirmed it’s still a favourite. Burger was spot on, the whole burger just works. Bun is awesome, patty cooked spot on and the sauce perfect. Fries are good too 👍🏻Definitely recommended!! Will be back again.
Melb Foodie
Burgers, gems and onion rings were all delicious. One of the best burgers available in Melbourne. Extra points for having a spicy chilli burger- delicious!
Alexandra
Always a safe stop if you're craving a burger. Had the Altered Beast and Golden Axe this time around and they were just as great as any other occasion. For me the fries are a little lackluster but the burgers are worth it. Of all of the burger places that have popped up over the years, 8bit Footscray remains my favourite. The Golden Axe chicken and coleslaw is a winning combo.
Dickmont Jones
I rocked up and all I could see were gorgeous woman flipping burgers. Didn’t see a male insight.

The cheeseburger I had was a bit salty and over cooked for my liking but I’ll be fair because I was starving and I loved the fresh pickles and lettuce on the burger. I only had to wait about 10min too so that was very good. I’ve never seen a burger kitchen run so well. I’ll give them that. The place was moderately busy and they were able to whip out these orders in no time. Onya team 👍🏽

Here’s a downer, I also had the onion rings. The price for the rings is a bit steep at $5.50 I only got about 5 rings. Nothing worse than a stingy serving of something I can tell u that much. A regretful choice of side, I regret not ordering the potato gems true.

Not the best burger but I guess I’ll be back to give it another go sure. Thanks
Victor Braddock
It's always a good time for burgers decided to venture down to 8 bit for the first time In a while and something must be in the water cause God that was delicious went with the golden axe with an added beef Pattie and some bacon and cheese Fries to top it off
Cynthia Giang
Burgers, are essentially, life when it's been nailed. love the gaming theme surrounding 8bit - it's worked up quite a reputation, and their burgers come out looking nice, and are quite filling. Had no issues with the staff or service; food came out quickly. Prefer this place over the CBD as it is more spacious.
Anindya
Tasty burgers and a variety of selection of food in the menu! Amazing service! When my friends and I visited all the staffs were cheerful and super friendly, singing along to songs while cleaning making us feel like we were in GLEE! Would definitely come back if only it isn’t so far:( we live in Melbourne CBD...
Chris Lewis
Good burger small but flavoursome. Nice vibe with references to video game nostalgia. Been here a few times and have always had a good time. The one thing i did notice is when they are busy the food seems to be rushed and not as tasty (maybe a little overcooked)
Burger 7.5/10
Shakes are decent. Worth a slurp
Crem123
too took long and there was barely anyone in the store! ruining footscray with its gentrificated hipsterness, the ratted paper looks like it’s trying too hard to connect with the youths and the loud 80s music doesn’t draw you in it pushes you away waited too long. take your shit to fitzroy! but the food is good
Kophee
Always delicious. Tonight particularly the team's positive energy and happy vibe picked up my spirits and I could taste it in the altered beast and fries. 😘
Urbanette
There is never any urgency with the staff on the three times I have been here. I have been waiting for 25 minutes and it is quiet with barely anyone here. Staff members are slow and talking to each other. So frustrating. This place needs a manager to come in and improve staff performance.
Nalia
A very chilled-out venue. Had the '8bit with cheese' burger which was very tasty! Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for hearty burgers.
Jonathan Ong
1942 - average at best.Milkshake is not thick at all - literally milk with flavour.
Altered Beast - nice burger, but nothing that would make me want to come back again. Bun is ok, beef is nice. Tasty but nothing special.
Loaded fries - decent
Max
Super busy every time i come here, the burgers are really tasty but sometimes a little tooo oily but i feel like they've changed the buns they used - the old ones were better... Love getting the loaded fries with cheese and bacon though!
Nick Richards
Mmmmmm i will 8 a bit of that burger. Peanut butter and pickles gets a hooorah out of me. Eat at the counter while smiling at the chef. Don't fall of your stool while you drool! I like the tasty piggy fries with cheese inside. Don't share them you'll make more friends if you eat them up nut... I'm the winner because I found the best place for dinner !
Danielle Nguyen
This place is always busy. Sometimes the line runs out of the door. The decor is modern and give me the gaming vibe. The food is great and I love overlooking the open spaced kitchen.
Moneta Tan
Pretty decent burgers! I had a hotdog for the first time visiting here (usually I get a burger) and it was yum! I really liked the bread roll haha. Always a good place to go to when nobody will decide where to eat. Prices are good too.
Ilovefoodsomuch
The very first 8bit in Melbourne there are often lines here and for good reason. The food here are all oily and fat yet sooo good. The fries with cheese and bacon are my favourite 😋😋
Tripparooney
'Slam two at a time'. Love going here as reminds me of the Footscray old days.
I had their Fatal fury hot dog which is great, soft, juicy and a [bit spicy]!! It's never enough one dog, so I had to try their 'After Burner' burger as well. I was so friggin hungry that I didn't even taste the chilli at all, nevertheless, it hit the mark and that's vital. Funky joint, cool staff and I like their seating arrangements.
Bobby
This is one of the best burgers in all of Melbourne, which is really saying something.

The service is good, and it's not too expensive for the quality.

I really like the mushroom burger and the onion rings are exceptional.

Fantastic!
Jess Strauss
Came here with a friend. The environment was extremely chill with staff dancing and singing which was nice to see. The food was delicious and full of flavour. Will be visiting again soon!
Kevin
Gluten free burgers are good, id say great but a couple of times the gluten free bun has been very stale, so stale I just ate the insides of the burger.
Shakes are the best. Wish they had gf chips.
Rex Demiri
The benchmark when it comes to a great burger. Everyone seems to compare a burger they have eaten recently to 8Bit. It's genuinely the standard for a great burger.

Parking is a little tough here but its all worth it once you have a bite, this location seems slightly bigger than the CBD location but they both get really packed with people especially around lunch time. I love how everything is being prepared right in front of you and you can tell the employees work really well with each other and know how to handle their stations perfectly!

What i've tried: 8 Bit Dog, Golden Axe, Onion Rings.

The 8bit dog has lots of flavour and toppings that pair really well together. Its like a classic hot dog but with so much flavour.

The Golden Axe: Being a fan of chicken sandwiches i had to give this a try. I don't prefer slaw but the taste was light though which was perfect for me especially since the main event is the big ass juicy chicken fried to perfection. Seriously this chicken is juicy, order this with a side of onion rings because i promise you these are the best you'll ever taste.

(Also pictured is the double dragon which i managed to sneak a bite of..yes. it was delicious!)

Burgers are delicious. The seating is limited though so I suggest coming when it isn't peak hour. The double dragon is 10/10. The shakes are okay, not worth the price though. Chips are nice. The potato gems are always fresh every time I've come. I recommend they change the little tubs the sauces come in as they are hard to dip from. The gaming machines are cool though

Bad Luck: so I went to have lunch with some friends we have tried 3 times to go as it's always packed but the 3rd we were in luck. Food was good, I had chicken burger, very fattening but it taste good! So far so good however an hour after we ate I was sick with food poisoning. My friends had beef and they were fine but with my burger I was really sick. It was the only meal I had all day and I was fine prior. To scared to go back 👎🏻

A landmark burger stop in Melbourne which delivers a consistent good feed. I'm not a fan of every product but overall one of my favs, be back soon :)

Got 8 bit delivered the other day, first time I'd eaten from there in a good 6 months! Long story short, still the best burgers going around - By FAR! Not to mention the strawberry cheesecake milkshake, my god. Heaven in a cup

Was really shocked to be refused a glass of tap water with my meal. They wanted me to buy a plastic bottle. Ethically unjustifiable, and against Australian norms. Shameful.
