Review Nhu Lan Bakery - Footscray

ysabel sukic
Supposedly has the best banh mi in Melbourne… As a visitor I wouldn’t know… BUT I can say that their banh mi are pretty damn good, with a great selection of fillings. I got one roast pork, and one bbq pork to share.

Super busy store, we arrived around 10:30 in the morning and there already lines up at the store. Ordered a bbq pork banh, the sauce is quite savoury and pork is tender. Try to arrive early as there are always lot of customers lining up 😀

The Banh Mi is famous in and amongst Melbourne foodies and there is usually a massive line just to get into the bakery so it's well worth a visit. We got here on a rainy day in COVID lockdown so there were only 4 people a head of us. BBQ Pork Roll & Crackling Pork Roll were great and the baguette was exceptional. The rolls for Banh Mi were small but the price is cheaper too, of you're really hungry but 2. Overall my usual Banh Mi joint beats the overall quality (taste) and size (message me for details if interested) but this place was very, very good too especially the bread which I would definitely go back for. Staff are very kind and friendly as you would know from the lovely Asian community...

Great banh mi from this local bakery. A range of fillings from chicken, tofu, ham, BBQ pork, crackling roast pork, and shredded pork. The heart of a good banh mi is all about the bread - and this places makes the best in town. There's the option to buy and take fresh bread home (tiger rolls, baguettes etc) if you're after something soft and fluffy in the inside and nice crisp on the outside. Depending on the time of the day you may have to wait in line - which can be up to 30 mins during peak periods. They even have dessert sorted with mungbean cake, durian and other sweets that you can indulge in.

The worst service ever ! Went there today to buy banh mi during lunch time at 12pm. I had to line up in a long queue for 15 minutes. Fair enough it was lunch time. When I got inside, i was standing right in front of the sandwich bar, waiting to order banh mi. Staffs ignored my presence and refused to take my order. Instead they served 3 other people who was standing behind me. So after extra 15 minutes inside I could not make my order. So 30 minutes plus of my lunch time was wasted by these people. While waiting there, I also noticed that they treated another old lady the same untill she yelt at them. What a terrible service from unattentive staffs from Nhu Lan Bakery. I went to To's band mi and received and quicker and nice service even though I had to line up again !

Been coming here to for years but the standard has dropped, literally met the angriest cannot be bothered service this morning and what's worst is to be served with nylon embedded pork rolls that almost looks fried green shoots! Talking about food and safety and it is such a long strand it should not be missed!
Mounica Kondepati
Consider this as a best cheap eats place in Footscray and this place get seriously busy with queue outside after 10 in the morning.

A popular Vietnamese bakery in Footscray. The staff are pretty friendly and they offer items. I had the crackling pork banh mi which was not bad but nothing special. Overall check it out if you’re in the area.
Jessie Tran
Very good, fresh bread fresh fillings and generous. The only problem is that they touch money with the gloves they use to touch the food. Very unhygienic.

Insta: melbfoodie_mark
YT: MelbFoodieMark
** Check them out for more food reviews in Melbourne!
-
Grabbing Banh Mi at Nhu Lan after copping some Cannolis from T Cavallaro next door is a validated one-two combo in Footscray. You just can't go wrong with that.

You know it's real when you see a queue of Asians waiting outside to grab a banh mi DURING COVID. They are literally risking their lives just to have some sandwiches. Mad respect. Glad to see some like-minded people who got their priorities straight.

Oh and their run-down menu. Just pure alpha, asserting its dominance. Got nothing else on it but Banh Mi. "This is what we have. If you don't like it, screw off" type of confidence. I like that - No frills, No BS, No distractions. Just keeping it classic. For $5.5 Banh Mi, you really shouldn't expect service. Low key I enjoyed the indifferent dispassionate attitude of the ladies working there because you know they've been working all day pumping out these delicious bad boys.

I ended up grabbing their BBQ Pork Rolls because that just looked most authentic. Now, I am not Vietnamese and haven't had enough Banh Mis to tell you what's good or bad but here are some notable pointers. (1) Bread was crunchy but also fluffy inside. Banh Mis I had elsewhere always scraped against my palate but not this one. (2) Their BBQ Pork tasted very different in a good way. Maybe it was slightly cured? I don't know but I am assuming that's how the authentic BBQ Pork roll's supposed to taste like. Definitely wish I grabbed more than one as I devoured it as soon as I got inside the car. You know I'll be back soon enough.

Banh mi are very fantastic and super yummy. The best bakery in Melbourne, fresh, good quality abnd authentic Vietnamese but still good prices. I love the taste of bread 🥖, crispy and also egg mayonnaise, s mell in my mouth, fresh bbq meat or even vegetarian tofu, a bit sour of carrots, coriander...totally make perfect rolls. I have tried many bakery in Melbourne, this bakery is my favourite. !!! Highly recommend.
Staffs are friendly even busy time. Spending time for line up but their service is very fast, save my time, safe for everybody.
Thanks for opening this hard time.
Consistent and delicious! Always will go back here.

The place to be when you’re after a banh mi in Footscray! This place is usually busy and they have amazing banh mi available. The bbq pork and tofu banh mi are my favourites

Made fresh to order and they also have bread rolls for sale. Love how its always fresh when i get them.
Vi Tran
Great place to get a Vietnamese bread roll- in and out! The meatball one is the best.
Mia
Bought 2 rolls today and what i get from here is the worst customer services ever. Didn’t give any single smile. Angry face and throw the rolls to my side in the end with no eye contact or say thank you. I would love to give you less than one star. And never come back for sure. U are not the only rolls in Footscray!!!!!!

Ordered 3 Banh mi without Chilli. The staff behind was to busy chatting and put chilli in. I went back to return them and the staff *annoyed* rolled her eyes and start picking the chillies out. Told her that I did not want them as they were for my children and she was not happy at all!! She was so angry, took the banh mi at the back of the shop and back minutes later to make a new ones. (Please concentrate on what the customers ask especially when you are not fluent in English and kept chatting with your collegue in Viet. Oh, and why these employees are not wearing any masks to cover their mouths because some do spits on the bread when they talk and laugh with each other... Hmm

3.0 Average

I always ask my local friends where I should get banh mi from in Footscray and it is pretty unanimous, Nhu Lan. This is my second visit after not being particularly blown away the first time.

I’m usually a roast pork kind of guy as it’s pretty much seen in most bakeries in Springvale yet that movement hasn’t made its way down here yet. Their banh mi thit was at $5.50 which I think is on the expensive side, I opt for their nem nuong which is kind of like a meatball. Bread was great, nice buttery crispness without being too flakey, I hate that on my lips and clothes! The fillings on the other hand weren’t as generous which was pretty disappointing and left a void in my stomach.

I really wanted to like Nhu Lan but from experience, I’ve had better, more bulkier and at times cheaper bread rolls locally.
Potatolover
Fresh and crispy bread rolls with delicious and fresh fillings.
The BBQ pork banh mi was perfectly made and the pork was great.
Definitely recommend for banh mi
Ann
Nhu Lan is known to be the place for pork rolls. However, the service was poor, there was no structured way to line up to order our rolls during peak hour and there wasn't enough meat in my roll for it to be considered value for money.
Emily Jane
BBQ Pork Banh Mi was OK. Nothing to rave about. Had much better in Footscray. Meat was quite fatty. Service was the disappointing part. The staff were not friendly at all, they could at least show a smile. Was a let down after reading all the raving reviews.
Prof. Pinky@LunchLab
Our score 4.75 stars (average of 2 reviews & many visits). Got another Salad banh mi and a Paté chaud (Pork puff) on Thu 15th Aug.

Really enjoying the P Puffs now I’ve discovered them – very tasty innards, with a nice pastry case (photo now included).

BM’s are great as ever. Decent sized white bun, crispy on outside and soft inside - beautiful crunchy textures in the generous filling! Some of the really fresh and flavoursome ingredients are: Cucumber, Pickled carrot, etc, Coriander, Spring O, Spicy red chillies, Fried shallots (yummy) and Crunchy roasted peanuts (double yummy – possibly my fav bit). I also have paté in my BM - OMG the best $3.80 ($ for $) I have ever spent on food in my life!

J always has a Tofu and salad BM (slightly more expensive) - which she loves. Women who serve are great – time in the queue varies every time we visit (luck of the draw, but it’s never really long). With warmer weather coming up, we’ll be getting into these more often!

Very poor customer service. I have come here all my life but now I'm thinking of finding a new place to get rolls because the servers are rude.
Mehul Kothari
Have been coming here for the better part of 4 years. As a student who strapped for cash they are a good place for a filling brekkie or lunch. They are incredibly quick with service getting people in and out. Always smells amazong when you walk in. I recommend the grilled chicken and viet ice coffee.
Tommylicious
If you’ve ever been to Nhu Lan, you’d refuse to ever spend more than $10 for some sub par Vietnamese bread roll at a non authentic place.

This place is the only reason I stop at Footscray.
Rhonni
One of the best banh mi rolls I've tasted. The service is lightning fast, I barely finished ordering and paying when it was served. I ordered the mixed ham roll, the baguette is provided warm, with fresh veggies, chilli, and pate - all for $5.50! So delicious, this will be my go to place for banh mi! Be sure to bring cash with you, they don't take card.
Taylor Le
I’ve been coming here ever since I was a kid, it’s been almost 20 years now and the flavours are still classic and the best!
Staff are great and concise when it comes to taking orders, and can’t forget their mouth watering pate chauds!

Josh
having that many people queuing up every single day, is probably the best sign that this place is great.
And it didn't disappoint! fresh crispy bread, tasty ingredients, and only $5.5!
Missfoodieguide
Cheap and delicious banhmi. Fresh bread and tasty fillings. I either go for bbq chicken or the original ham with extra pate and butter. So delicious!
Eatwithbonny
My go to banh mi shop! It ain’t just affordable but also taste fabulous. The proportion of meat, veggies and sauce just perfectly balanced! Never missed Nhu Lan in Footscray!

Will i be back? Yes baby!
Quince And Cheese
One of my favourite cheap eating locales in Footscray - Not just for bahn mis but also their giant veg buns, takeaway mock pork and steamed rice cakes or other sweets. I check in every time I'm in the area just to see what new packaged items are available that day. I'm constantly surprised by the variety and vegan/veg options. Be sure to bring cash if you're planning a visit.
The Honest Glutton
Good classic Banh Mi. Their meats are marinated so deliciously. Bread is always crispy.

Don’t expect workers here to be friendly though, they look grumpy most of the time.

I love their butter so I always ask for extra.

$5.50 for a roll is a bargain. However I can’t help but miss those days where it was $4.20 a roll

Inflation sucks
Levina
How does a small shop get such rave reviews? By serving the best Vietnamese pork roll in the city. I always go for the BBQ Pork roll. This is the epitome of a quick bite. With no seating area at all, you can order your roll for takeaway and enjoy it at one of the benches along Hopkins St. Add in some Vietnamese Iced White Coffee and that’s the perfect pick-me-up meal, if you ask me.
Quynh Le
This place offers the best Banh mi in town. Quick service and the prices are so affordable. I have tried all of their banh mi flavors but I enjoy the grilled pork one the most. I would recommend to get the big roll as it is for better value. Their rolls are always nice and fresh! Would def keep returning to this place!
Lemon
The baguette’s outside crispy but inside is also crispy.. felt like it’s over baked. Not too bad.. but not so sure the reason of long Q compared to other shops.
NothingButTruth
Yummy! The bread is crisp and fresh the pate is delicious the only downside is the here wasn’t mush meat in the bread roll and the hygiene.. saw pest crawling on the wall rip
Sharlyn Trinh
I bought 3 rolls today but one of them was vegetarian tofu - yes VEGETARIAN but the lady made roll for me used the same tong which picked up meat for chicken rolls and Vegetarian roll as well. I potlitely and kindly asked her “ Can you use different tong for my vegetarian roll please? ” ( in vietnamese ). She looked around picked another used tong and answered me “ Oh, all the tongs are the same, just picked vegtable more for your roll so It doesn’t matter”. Wow ! Wow ! It surprised me then ! How come it doesn’t matter madam ? So when you eat vegetarian food I put chicken in there will you eat ? The principle of this matter is the way you treat your customer! There were heaps of new tongs hanged on the roll shelter, just simply swap a new one! It was not so hard for this ! I was your huge fan until this incidence took place ! So I hope you can treat other your customers better than this ! Kindly Thank you !
FoodieGary
great flavours in my banh mi, all you can expect for a $5 sanga. If you are after a fancy meal probably this is the wrong place, but for a quick lunch this bakery certainly hits the spot.
Cassie
The bread is freshly baked on the day, ingredients are also very fresh. I ordered bbq pork and it’s so delicious! For this price you can get a meal there’s nothing you can complain about. And the bonus is the banh mi is super delicious, fresh and healthy. Perfect for breakfast or lunch.
Gracie
One of the places with the best Bánh Mi I have come across. Grew up frequenting Nhu Lan, quality has always been consistent, ingredients always fresh, friendly staff is a bonus :’)
Sivashankar Sivam
This place doesn’t pack the punch I was hoping for in a BM.

as a true fan of this breaded goodness, I’d strongly recommend Victoria street as opposed to this outlet on footscray.

Don’t get me wrong. The BM here wasn’t terrible or anything. But it was lacking in the crazy amount of flavour and quantity of fillings that you get from one of BM places along Victoria street!
Vivian Vo
Best place to get a banh mi. Its fast and the banh mi itself is full and has lots of flavour. Can't go wrong with nhu lan. (However the one in Richmond is a bit disappointing.)
Max W
Delicious and fresh banh mi rolls. Always a queue, testament to the great food. Cash only. I especially enjoyed the shredded pork banh mi roll.
Melissa
Super cheap banh mi that delivers in taste.
Crispy bread, yummy bbq meat, fresh vegetables and herbs, what more could you ask for? (Except for another banh mi cos damn it's pretty good)
Joanna Shaddai
Got the Tofu Bahn Mi for $5.5! Amazing Bahn Mi, and amazing price too! Authentic, simple, but delicious! I personally prefer the tofu Bahn Mi from Master Roll, but that’s just because of the portion size.

The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was delicious too. However, I find that the ice was a little bit too much, considering the thickness of the coffee and condensed milk.

Will definitely be back!
4/5 stars! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Sarah
So good! crispy bread, flavourful meat/non-meat options and fresh ingredients. At an average of $5/$5.50, you could eat it breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Update: I have reduced the score to 3stars instead now because for the past 3 months, they have reduced the quality of their Bahn Mis. They are now so thin and barely any ingredients that I feel like I'm eating mostly bread now! I gave it 3 chances before I edited this review. Sad :(
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: favourite go to fob roll place - consistent every time.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: the banh mi rolls are delicious - the bun itself is crispy fresh and delicious whilst the meats are fresh and tasty - my go to is the roast bbq pork but I also like the fresh pork meats too.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: if you don’t speak Vietnamese you might have a hard time getting the attention of the staff when they’re at their peak period.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: a great place for a quick takeaway bite - leaving you content yet not bloated.
Seed To Fork
Great banh mi, loving it! They are pretty cheap too - $5.50! We’ve ordered bbq pork and bbq chicken, I must say the bbq chicken was exceptional! The bbq pork was kinda dry unfortunately.. but who cares as long as I stick to the bbq chicken I am happy! Highly recommended.

Food 5/5
service 3/5
environment 2/5

My favorite Vietnam sandwich roll. And BBQ pork is the best here. The bread comes with homemade liver paste and sauce, which make the the amazing flavor. But the service is too slow and not good. When the busy time, everyone crowd there and no one asked who is first. So if you are there in the lunchtime, please speak loud and try to to go forward for your food.

Mixed ham rolls with chilli- ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. I've been coming to nhu lan ever since I was little and it's awesome to see a place you grew up eating at expand in popularity over many years. The mixed ham roll is an absolute must to go try. The pate and butter is creamy and is topped with a variety of meats, coriander, lettuce, carrots, a splash of soy sauce and chilli (*if requested). All of this is wrapped in a crunchy crispy bread roll. Make sure to eat the roll immediately as it will soften overtime. Be careful not to cut your mouth when you bite down on the roll.
The only downside is that there is virtually no queing system and the small store is overcrowded at times making it hard to move around.
I also bought some pate for takeaway as it literally melts in your mouth. The texture is soft and isn't grainy and is best enjoyed with a toasted piece of bread.
Danielle Bee
A Footscray institution! Been coming here since the bahn mi were $2.80!
Don’t get turned off by the hoards of people pushing you around to get to the front of the cue, you need to be patient but fierce to get served during busy times.
Helps if you know exactly what you want (I get tofu, no pate, butter or coriander, add on peanuts and sauce- yes to chilli)!
Fresh ingredients, not stingy on the fillings and super fast service once you get to the front. If you haven’t tried one, also get on board the Vietnamese iced coffee train!

My to go to pork roll in footscray. Favourite being bbq chicken. Best time to come is at the morning when the bread rolls are still warm. 😋
Pham Land
The best in Footscray. Very busy as expected. BBQ rolls are the go or classic Vietnamese Roll.

Very crispy. Fresh. Butter and pate needs to be requested on BBQ rolls. Not the best but enjoyable and consistent.

Food : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crispy roll. Filling : good taste.
Price : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cheap / Good value
Service : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Quick service
Ambience : 🚫 Just takeaway

My favourite banh mi in all of Melbourne! Not much can really beat the taste or Nhu Lan for me. I’ve been having it since going to high school in Footscray and till now, delicious, fresh and good value.
Michael
Where else in Footscray would you go for an authentic Vietnamese banh mi? definitely the most delicious one in the west . Pity the price rise and it cost $5.50 for one
Ann T
Great value for money. The banh mi's are on point. The rolls are not too hard. The pickled veggies are good. Similar to the banh mi's at the Richmond store.
VodkaO_ZS
Great banh mi with reasonable price. The banh mi is crispy but not hard, and well seasoned with a still fresh taste. And the pork puff is a real surprise for me, in a nice way.
Bianca
PROS
good prices, good food, banh mi options great value.cream puffs and heart shaped cassava cakes are nice sweet options.
CONS
It can get a bit busy at certain times but staff work quickly and efficiently
FYI
Try the cassava cake.great texture, coconuty and delicious.

Love the Bahn Mi here!! For $5, its the perfect meal or snack! As of July, the price is going to be $5.50 but its still well worth it. The bread is super fresh and yummy. I got the Grilled Pork and the Kebab Pork ones and they are both good, perfect with some cut chillies. I also got the Cream Puff ($1.50) and it is quite good, it would have been better of its warm.
Pandy
I’ve travelled all the way from Melbourne CBD to Footscray during lunch time to get to this place. Their Banh Mi is something that you can get really addicted to. The bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, a good indication of freshness. The chicken meat is tasty but can be a bit chewy at times, add the pate, seasoning, pickled carrots, spring onion, little bit of chilli, you get a really good combination of flavours that is close to perfection for a sandwich roll.
J-acqui
My go to for banh mi - no where else compares. It's especially delicious when the bread is straight out of the oven and warm! Definitely worth queuing for
Ms Rodrigo
Love their buns. They are soo yummy. The service is great and fast. Good place to grab a quick bite. Don’t forget to take a cash out because I don’t think they accept card payments.
Leslie Yapi
Bbq pork bahn mi to die for
This place is always busy and have a long line.
For me the Bbq pork bahn mi here is the best.
They also have the fried bread with sesame seed on the outside, get it when its hot, and i am sure you will be back for more.
Foodie2010
Love it every time! Love how it has always been so consistent. The staff is so calm and chirpy even though they are always so busy. The bun is that is so light and crusty at the same time. My fav is the grilled chicken Bahn mi.
Yanjun Zhang
The bun is great and we love them with chili; the coffee is sweet. We ordered some yogurt and it tasted ok. Highly recommend the buns!pork、kebab and mix ham.

One of the best hot bread places still around. Opens early for an early morning feed. Great value for money and authentic Vietnamese hot bread. Would definitely recommend

Haven't got any photos for this review, but there really isn't much to say. Nhu Lan is a great bakery, a real staple. If you're hungry, come here for a fresh Bahn Mí, where the BBQ pork will be hot, the bread roll will be crisp, and the veggies will be fresh as they get! If you're really hungry, get two.

The sweets in their little unassuming displays are fantastic too. Lemon tarts, meringues, gingerbread men - all delicious, and all unbelievably well-priced. Come in with a mere ten dollars and you won't believe how much food you'll come out with!

I hope that in a thousand years, when all of Melbourne is an ethnically androgenous blob, Nhu Lan is still staffed by Vietnamese old ladies, and that it's still right in the same spot on Barkly Street ❤
Christy
The original. The best. Crispy, light bread paired with a mouthful of flavours and textures that never get old. Can’t fault anything except my personal preference for chillies that are actually hot.
Milla Vanilla
Compared to Bun Bun in Springvale, the banh mi bread roll is larger but with slightly less filling. I think Bun Bun is now $5.50. Pretty good fob roll nonetheless!
Steven Gu
Nhu Lan. One of the best Vietnamese buns in Melbourne. Highly recommended for a quick bite for BBQ pork flavour. Like it. Highly recommended
Vivian
Such good fob rolls ! They give you so much and the filling is always delicious and fresh ! I always go here when I need my vietnamese bread roll fix
Vegetarian Food Lover
Nhu Lan has been my go to shop for Vietnamese tofu bread roll in footscray but when I had it this time, it was unfortunately very disappointing. The bread itself was very ordinary compared to other bread baked in footscray. The vegetable pickles & tofu were ok, nothing to rave about. Overall a very ordinary Vietnamese tofu bread roll..
Another thing, they really need to clean up their food area, it looks too messy!
Jayde
Amazing banh mi for so much cheaper than you would find in the city at $5 for a BBQ pork roll. Bread is nice and crisp and fillings fresh and plentiful.
Monica Iva
So I cheated on my Richmond regular and I am sorry, they are nice Bah mi, but not as good as my regular. Nice service nice rolls, not stuffed, pate extra. The rolls were great though, soft and crunchy
Nalia
The banh mi at Nhu Lan are, in my opinion, the best that I've had in Melbourne. That's not to say they're the best I've ever had - I still prefer the way they're done in Vancouver, with the bread heated and with extra sauce inside. The ones on the streets of Saigon are also better from memory, but these are the closest to them I think you will get. And the one thing that makes these stand out above the others is the bread itself. Light, fluffy on the inside and cripsy on the outside, the bread is made on premises and this is also my family's go-to place for Vietnamese bread rolls. The fillings of the banh mi are standard (similar to what you'd get in Saigon), nothing fancier. The place is usually packed but it means there is a high turnover of fillings and everything is fresh which is important. Admittedly there are less fillings in the banh mi than I like and it rarely leaves me completely full if I'm ravished but it's a good light snack or lunch :)
ElCompass
My go to when getting banh mi in Footscray. My usual is the mixed cold meats. I feel they could be abit more generous with the portions as you get more in bakeries in Sunshine.
Footscrazy
These guys make the best Bánh mì in Melbourne by far!!! Very tasty and very consistent. You wont want to buy a Bánh mì from anywhere else once you have eaten from Nhu Lan!!
Kira Dinh
It was one of the busiest banh mi places I have ever encountered so I thought maybe it is really good. I ordered my banh mi with ham meat and thought it was one of the nicest banh mi places I've had :)
Scrumptious GG
Good and cheap vietnamese roll or bahn mi around Footscray area. Fresh bbq pork bahn mi is my top choice, but the chicken and onion is good as well. It just the filling not always consistent. Sometimes I got less veggies sometimes generous. It really depends on who served you.
Daphne Lee
Reading all the reviews, we kinda had high expectations for the place, and were glad that it was in the area that we stayed at.

The roll was pretty decent, however there wasn't much filling, it was mainly veggies. Compared to the rolls you can get in Cabramatta, it was kinda a let down after all the hype.
ThatGirlAlice
My staple weekly Footscray cheap lunch - the tofu is flavoursome and hot and the rolls are always SO fresh. You can see why this place draws a huge crowd!
Rachael
No idea why this place was rated so highly. When I went the meat wasn't too soft or tender and there didn't seem to be enough. Bread to filling ratio wasn't great. Seen better Bahn for cheaper prices elsewhere.
Just Another Foodie
Can't believe I've been going to Nhu Lan (Footscray) for many years and haven't written a review! Anyways hands down the best banh mi. My favourite is the mixed ham roll which is absolutely delicious. This place is extremely busy and packed with customers ordering banh mi but the staff are really quick too. I also like picking up bread rolls from the bakery, so fresh and decently priced. Highly recommended!
Allthefoods
Tasty Bahn Mi in the heart of Footscray! Battle the crazy lines and be armed with your cash to get a quick lunch that is encased in the perfect french baguette!
Jin Jau Liau
One of the best banh mi I have tasted. Their bread and ingredients are fresh and their prices are decent. I always go for the BBQ kebab roll and I really like the BBQ chicken. I also recommend the pork puff.
N System
Best BBQ Pork and Mixed Ham rolls ever! If stopping by at lunchtime be prepared to wait as it is usually very busy and jamm packed with hungry customers .Well worth the wait of you are hungry😊

Sarah In Melbourne
The bahn mi is so good! The pork is fragrant and tasty! The usual bahnmi does not offer such fragrant and tasty meat! But this is so good and goes so well with their fragrant crispy baguette! Yums!
Cynthia Giang
Gotta love a freshly made banh mi thit and this place didn't disappoint. Crisp bread with fluffy whites. Veggies pickled well, and the seasoning was just right. I prefer mine with chilli for a little kick.
Hangry Horace
There were a number of people waiting to be served when we entered the bakery but there was no visible queue in sight. Nonetheless, we were served after waiting for a while. We ordered the bbq chicken and pork bahn mis. The banh mis were good but I enjoyed the chicken one more. The pickled carrots added a nice crunch and the deep fried shallots were a nice touch. The banh mis were $5 each and that's pretty reasonable for the portion. I'll probably go back again and order the banh mis with an extra portion of meat.
Sarah Marc
For a Bánh Mì this is your one stop shop!
Don't be fooled by the line and get turned off by a possible wait, the ladies are busting their proverbial which makes the service quick!

BBQ pork and the Nhu Lan freshly baked buns go hand in hand for the ultimate Bánh mì experience !

There is a reason this place is pumping constantly with customers of all walks and at $4.50 you can't go wrong!

I've tried all the usual Bánh mì haunts in Collingwood and Richmond but Footscray wins every time!

Andrew
Very nice bread rolls. Cheap price aswell. Makes u full on just one bread roll. Good service, rolls are made quickly less than 3 minutes to make a roll
Labelle_1976
I've had every roll in Footscray and this place is hands down the only best place that makes the amazing Pork Roll.
I guarantee you you'll never go any where else there's a big line up because some people travel more then 30 mins to come here especially on the weekends
Jake Sortras
Never fails to deliver, fresh crusty bread and amazingly tasty fillings served with a smile despite how busy this little shop always is cannot suggest highly enough

Not sure what the fuss is about. We ordered the BBQ pork roll, the roll itself was perfect - crunchy on the outside but fluffy and soft in the middle - the rest was fairly average. There was no pork belly on offer which we thought was fairly unusual. The line was really long and they were rushing to get things out to customers so no real care was taken on preparation.

You know when you're in Footscray you're in for a good bahn mi and a pretty sizeable one. At 5 bucks each it's hard to resist getting 2 or more. Perfectly fresh tasting Bahn Mi

I rarely give a 5 out of 5 but here I have to! Vietnamese bakeries have always been one of my favourites due to their French influence. So it's not a surprise that Vietnamese baguettes are amazing. Top that with some juicy BBQ chicken, fresh herbs, spicy chilly, pâté and tangy sauces and you have the best possible lunch snack. If you have never been to Footscray - now you have a reason to visit! If available, also try their Taro moon cakes - to die for!

Swiss roll and pastries here is quite good. The rolls here are not bad but the meat in the rolls are a bit salty, need to tone it down a bit and make it less salty.

Nothing beats a fresh, crunchy and warm Vietnamese bread roll. If you are in Footscray this is the place to go to. Staff are friendly, polite and very fast. I come here each time I feel like eating a roll, I always order a bbq grilled pork roll $5 (add $1 for extra meat), with peanuts and fried onions. Super fresh baked in the house bread and perfect ratio of ingredients and sauces and chargrilled flavoursome meat. Plenty of choices and guaranteed satisfaction. To top it up around the cnr they sell fresh sugar cane drinks, perfect combo!
