My favourite Footscray cafe. Coffee is always great and food is yum. Staff and service is always good too.
Only downfall is my favourite things on the menu are always being rotated! I used to always order these corn fritters.
A cafe nearby busy Footscray station in the Footscray suburb, this small little cafe has something big to offer , the ambience is gorgeous, the food is scrumptious and the service is very friendly especially for pet owners .
My favourite dish that I love to have every time over there is Chicken Schintzel Panini, the chicken is soft , so is the toasted panini bread and I swear you will love to have more than one !
This is quite a nice cafe, serving decent coffee and food. There are not many tables and also the cafe is like sectioned into 2 area where I find its difficult for the staff to serve hence maybe some customer find their service is not good. For us, today service is excellent from the moment we stepped into the cafe till food were served, all good. The only confusion is their tapioca pudding is actually “tapioca pearls” pudding, we thought it was the tapioca root, didn’t thought it was tapioca pearls, its two different thing actually, anyway everything is good today, will be back for more next time.

Really lovely café in Footscray. I had the vegan cauliflower wings and the flavours were delicious, very fresh and beautifully presented. The coffee was also great! I wished my meal was a bit bigger, but I'm generally a big eater, so could be just me.
Had the mushroom toast. Can't complain - filling, greatly flavoured, and the pork/fennel sausage with it was lovely. Coffee was very nice (if slightly too hot). I believe they've changed the menu from the one that's listed on here - I was disappointed to see the Baked Eggs disappear as I was definitely keen to order those, but that was really the only drawback.

Unfortunately the menu seems to have limited foods now, mainly wraps and paninis. I remembered they had more dishes a few years back.
This was a pleasant surprise. We went to this cafe on a whim as we drove past it and thought to give it a try. The staff were nice. It had an interesting decor but wasn't as cozy as I'd hoped for but it was cute enough.
Great place for a quick lunch or coffee before work. Located a short walk from Footscray station, it offers early morning trade for those rising with the sun, as well as a selection of food to get you going for the day.
First time having brunch, and my experience was great thanks to the Milking station. They had me at the flavours and presentation. My brunch journey begins from this experience.
Me my brother and a friend went here today & I had a breakfast burger which I think could do with some relish but I score a 3.5/5 my friend had the Ricotta pancakes and he said that they were delicious and highly recommended & scored 5/5 my brother had eggs on toast with mushrooms & a bacon & egg toasted sandwich which scored a 3.5/5 total cost with drinks were $75 a bit pricey but otherwise ok
Really friendly service from waitress.. who cleared a table pronto ...two of us shared brekkie dishes one was poached eggs with haloumi and trout on the side ....and we also had the pancakes ...washed down with a great coffee.... at $23 each we felt we had a really good feed! We enjoyed the food and had great service ....highly recommended!
Customised the crossiant into a cheese and tomato one given I am a vegetarian. Ordered it with the pancakes which were absolutely delicious. The croissant was also scrumptious but I feel given the portion and size of both dishes, this cafe is overly priced. $17 for such a tiny serving of pancakes? $8 for a medium sized croissant? Surely need to drop down the prices to $14 and $6 to make it reasonable.

"This seems like a nicer part of Footscray," said my husband. There were nice, well-maintained terrace houses along the tree lined street leading to Maribyrnong River. It was very lovely and so was this cafe on the corner. It actually didn't even look like Footscray proper ... more like Williamstown. The cafe itself looked understated with no signage unless you walked inside. It was busy on a weekday morning.
We weren't too hungry so shared the baked eggs. It came with a sausage with whole fennel seeds inside. The chickpeas were nice and firm and the eggs were served perfectly (except by the time I started on them, they had cooked through due to my poor choice in eating order). Overall it was OK although a bit on the bland side. Good thing they had habanero sauces on the table although it would be nice to have some salt and pepper too.
Coffees were nice but not amazing. My husband cheekily asked for a cold drip but they don't do those here. Overall I would like to come back again and try other things on the menu.
What a little find this place is. Excellent, friendly service where nothing is too hard. FMS wasn't terribly busy the couple of times we've stopped in for a bite which makes a nice change to some of the areas' more frantic establishments. Food is reflective of the neat and quirky street it's set on and whist we didn't sample them, the baked treats look divine.
Came here for breakfast on a sunny Saturday. Cosy seating inside but it was nice to catch some sun out in the rear courtyard. It was so relaxing! Just felt like you were lounging around in someone's back yard :) He had the Baconator. I had the croissant. Coffee was good.

This was our first time here for breakfast. What a great place. Clean, friendly staff and wasn't too busy today. Good quality eggs, bacon and produce in general. The avocado salad with scrambled eggs was the best I have had yet. Coffee and peppermint tea also good. Except for forgetting the side of bacon, can't fault. Would recommend and go back. 😃
Cute little place in footscray. Went there for a birthday brunch. Had the smashed avocado on toast which was really nice, but kinda small for the price. Same with the beef pie which was on special. Did really like their beef wrap. Meat was tender and ingredients tasted fresh.
Overall; Enjoyed the taste, but left pretty hungry.
Shoutouts to the staff who were really nice and looked after us.

Footscray milking station is a rustic brunch place which is open from 8am to 3pm. There are vegan options and also gluten free options which caters for many people of different dietary needs.
The staff here are friendly and provide really good customer service. The brunch here however is average and isn't exceptionally great or bad. I had gotten the "Mushroom on Toast" for this particular visit. It is a vegan friendly option and it had a lot of mushrooms. So for the portion of mushrooms they're very generous. However I've had the "Chicken Schnitzel Panino" before and it wasnt very good, the insides were cold and the bread was too crispy for my liking. The usual I get is the "Eggs your way" and it's basically eggs and toast. Its a great meal with value as you can never go wrong with eggs on toast. You can choose whether you want it scrambled, poached or even sunny side up.
In conclusion this is definitely a you would want to come by as there is good vibes, good coffee and decent food for any occasion. It would be a 4-5/5 if the food was more consistent and tasted more fresh.
Came here for a brunch with my little brother before going to work and I have to say, I’m always happy with this place. Coffee is always pretty good in Melbourne and this place matches the standard with their latte. We ordered the lemon pepper calamari with pomegranate salad and chips. The chips were average but the calamari was solid and fresh. The aioli sauce it came was perfect with the calamari.
Cute little cafe around the corner from uni. It's got plenty of free parking spots. I was greeted and welcomed by the waitress - the staff are incredibly friendly, graceful and humble. I got the Huevos Rancheros - it looked appealing and tasted like a breakfast taco. The beans were really filling and the eggs were perfect. The yoghurt gave it that creaminess to help sooth the bold flavours, I just wished the spicey beans were a bit more chilli but that's what the hot sauce is for!! Service wasn't too fast or slow. It does get really busy but fear not, there's plenty of tables inside and outside the cafe
Great fit out and the food is to die for. Before becoming vegan the pork panini was my go to and it was pretty bloody awesome. These days I'm a vegan wrap man, I'd even dare say it's the best menu item they make...
This place is a winner. Food is always fantastic. Not the most kid friendly place i've been to though which i why i took a few points off and also why i don't go there more often. If you can see past that then this is a really good spot for great food and good quality coffee.
Yes coffee was good. And although I didn't have appetite to try their food, but I should come back one day....It was quite busy at the time when I got in, nevertheless, the service person there was patient enough to deal with it and at the end served us with a positive professional attitude. Thank you for that.

A great little cafe for a quick bite and a great cup of coffee. If I'm working out this way I'll usually just grab coffee from here more often than not as its open very early and serves good strong coffee. Be warned it can get extremely busy during the morning coffee rush.
Lunch gets pretty busy as well. Lots of the usual premade sandwiches, panini, salads etc for a quick takeaway lunch, and a nice simple menu with a few different items to mix it up (like the huevo rancheros (which I've had once before and wasnt bad but a little expensive once you add $5 for choziro).
I didnt have ages to eat (and was with a client) but had a hankering for more pulled pork so it was a pulled pork panini with BBQ sauce. The pork was moist and the panini fresh however it lacked a little oompf. The best part was the apple, mustard pickle combo on it. The BBQ flavour was lost a little. To be honest unless its BBQ pork I'd be tempted to leave it out all together and just go with the apple mustard slaw combo.
I think the main draw card for TMS is the homey/country feel, especially in the winter. The collection of knick knacks and decor gives it a nice comfy feeling.
Again its a little on the pricey side but probably just on par with other eateries in the area that serve this style of food. Personally if Im getting lunch in footscray I'll tend to get Pho or Banh Mi from some of the excellent choices around here. But if your with people less adventurous or feel like this style of food, then your probably wont be disappointed.
Mushroom toast. It is really good combination of hummus and mushrooms. I went to this place for lunch on Sunday. It was good atmosphere and relaxing.
Delicious corn fritters. Juicy, tasty, corny. Good service, nice coffee and ample parking! Just a lovely cafe on the corner that offers really yummy breakfast. Can't wait to take BF here to try the corn fritters.
When you think of Footscray, pho usually is the first thing that comes to mind. However, don't be fooled. Nestled on a back street near Footscray station is Footscray Milking Station, a homely little cafe with no pho in sight. FMS keeps it simple with classic breakfast and brunch options such as salads, wraps, toasts and sandwiches. Don't come expecting to find fancy sounding brunch dishes or dishes that try to fit in with the latest Instragram fad. Despite a gap of a year since my last visit, I have on both occasion been very satisfied with my meals. However do note that the food tends to come out at different times (something that I noticed also happened to other tables) and your dining partner may be halfway through his/her meal before you get yours. Coffee is average, I would prefer it to be stronger.

Such a nice local little cafe in Footscray! Nice and cosy inside but was lucky enough to be seated outside on a beautiful sunny day. Although the wait for food was a little long, the food was well worth it. Ordered the eggs Atlantic, corn cakes and the greta valley pork panino, all of which was delicious. Coffee was also lovely, made nice and creamy. My partner and I left very satisfied with our brunch and it was a great way to start our day. We look forward to coming back!
Good for a hangover brunch, especially if you have fussy vegetarian friends. Always busy so try get in early. The place is quite small inside but you're in and out in no time as the meals don't keep you waiting. Coffee is decent. Nice place to eat if you live locally.
Yay, I'm so excited that my favorite cafe is now open on the weekends. I love this cafe, love the staff, food and coffee. Even better that's it just around the corner from my house.
Today was my second visit to the Milking Station, a great little cafe in Footscray that whilst ticking all the inner West trendy cafe boxes manages to stand out from the crowd.
The staff are attentive but not overbearing, and the decor is welcoming. The coffee is consistently good, and the constant stream of nine-to-fivers coming in for their lunch time take away caffeine fix is testament to this.
The menu is not overwhelmingly long, but features an excellent selection of breakfast/ brunch/ lunch style dishes that caters to many different dietary needs. Many dishes can be made vegan friendly and there is a gluten free section, as well as gluten free substitutes for other dishes available. I can attest to both the ricotta pancakes and the huevos rancheros, which were a welcome departure from the vegetarian staple of smashed avocado.
It's the perfect spot for a weekday lunch, or to grab a coffee on the way to Footscray station. Will be returning.
A solid choice for a quick lunch spot. There is a steady flow of traffic coming through to order a coffee and panino or wrap, to which there is a generous selection. And there is also a buzz around the cafe with tables of two or four sitting in, enjoying dishes such as carrot, orange, barely and yoghurt soup and atlantic ocean salmon. The staff are professional, however seem under the pump at times and this detracts a little from the overall atmosphere, but not the overall service.

Love this place. Very surprised with negative comments. Have always found the staff friendly and the food excellent value for money. Sorry it no longer opens at weekends. I was there today and the staff could not have feen more friendly and the chicken panini was lovely.

i’ve not yet ventured out to the western side of melbourne for brunch, but after some inspiration from @westsidefoodie, i decided that it was about time i gave the milking station a try! located on a gorgeous tree-lined suburban corner in footscray, there is no missing the green front door… and the interior is just as beautiful! inside the green + white theme continues, with some gorgeous corner tables, a mix of tiled + exposed brick walls + beautiful natural light streaming in through the big glass windows. i was there pretty early (7.40am) but thankfully the kitchen opens at 7.30am on weekends (and 6.30am weekdays). it was clear i was one of only a few crazy early-risers, and while i enjoyed the serenity, i have no doubt this place would have a great buzz about it when full. the menu is really exciting… a mix of your standard breakfast staples with some more unusual options thrown in.
I was a little disappointed with the corn cakes (they were very ‘doughy’ and all I could taste was the flour) but not as displeased as J was as there was a hair in her food!
I couldn’t believe this had happened again so soon after my experience at 1000 £ Bend. What’s with the hair in corn fritters lately?! Seems to be the new ingredient going around in this dish.
What was worse was that she didn’t receive a single apology- her plate was simply taken away and replaced with a new one and that was that. We didn’t even get a sorry at the counter when we paid. Pretty abysmal customer service!

And they were definitely the highlight of the day, both were delicious- perfectly baked and delectable.
After reading countless blogposts and reviews about this place, I can't believe we actually came here on a whim. It's just a very short walk on the other side of the station. There's no signboard outside, but it's the only café around the area so it's unlikely that anyone would miss it.
So they ran out of their famed pulled pork panini and this appeared to be the next best thing. It did not disappoint.

Yummy vegan options. The Mexican hot chocolate (with soy) and vegan wrap are excellent. Both great vegan options! The staff often seem very busy, which can make ordering/paying difficult, but the cafe itself is always packed, so that makes sense.
50/50. I've been going to this place for over a year now. Foods and coffee are always great. Service, well depends who you get. The newer staff aren't always that keen on customers which is disappointing however I'm always relieved to see my regular waiter waiting by my table with a menu and my coffee order ready to go in the morning. Makes my experience there always worth while no matter when I go. Hope he stays!
I should have read the last review before I went to the milking station at 8am today (Saturday) and looking forward to the coffee and eggs on toast until I realised that it was closed!! I must have been seen to be loitering because I was looking into the windows and walking around for 5 minutes thinking what is going on?? Why is my favourite brunch venue closed on Saturdays?? Very disappointed..so I drove down the road to get my coffee fix instead. I actually only live a 5 minute walk away from the milking station and take my friends here quite often and to also showcase what a funky suburb Footscray have become. Why have they decided to close on weekends?? I can't make it on weekdays because of my working hours. Please open on weekends again, I'm already having withdrawal symptoms.
