One of my favourite brunch spots to head to when I have a busy schedule. Located in the food district of West Footscray is this cute little cafe run by super friendly staff. The outdoor seating availability met my satisfaction because the feeling of eating a nice warm high quality freshly-made meal with the sunny and cool breeze is so calming.
We ordered a variety of dishes from their ALL-DAY menu. Portion size for each dish was great. Although the amount of food given on the plate, you'd be surprised how full you get.
I loved every dish we ordered here, but shockingly, my favourite was their Croissants and how flaky and warm it was in the mouth. It paired so well with their special homemade butter and jam.
They do a really good job with their eggs and how they cook them. Their complex skills presents a dish that is not only elegant but full of texture and flavour, in regards to their Eggs Benedict and Egg Scramble.
Wild mushrooms dish is also definitely worth a try if you are a mushroom lover or feeling a little adventurous.
Latte was creamy and coffee was nicely roasted. Would definitely like to come back when the lockdown is over!

Such a warm vibrant place! Always clean and tidy! Team are super friendly, always eager to please. Nothing is never too much. Coffee is heaven & food is Devine!
With a gorgeous open space, and modern decor, Dumbo in Footscray is a cool cafe for brunch or a coffee catch up. It has a funky vibe and friendly atmosphere, and the staff are lovely and welcoming.
A great selection of coffees and alternatives such as strawberry tea are available, and they are all delicious. The food menu is also really good and I've had some tasty meals here. It's definitely one of the best cafes in the area, and is popular with the locals for good reason.
Group of 7 on saturday morning. We were lucky to get seated. They were kind enough to give us menus so as soon as we got seated we were able to eat straight away.
Everyone was satisfied with their meals (most under $25 except specials), coffees, hot chocolates and chai lattes. However in wished they mentioned that the contechino sausage scrambled eggs were spicy.
Will come back.
Really good food. Seemed like they were going for a Mediterranean influenced menu which I love. The food came out really quick despite being a Sunday. The staff seemed really friendly.
Unpretentious, friendly and fast. That sums up the vibe and service.Ā
Our waitress was always accommodating and personable. On a busy Saturday morning she found us a table, explained menu items and asked the chef if special requests were possible. Unpretentious and friendly.
Now for the food. We had the labneh, classic eggs benedict and simple scrambled eggs with avo and bacon. The labneh was a creation of creamy, almost liquid cheese (see pic), two poached eggs and herbs which was delightfully light in texture with a subtle tang from the cheese. The side of Turkish bread sopped up the liquid nicely. Every dish was unpretentious but delicious and picture perfect.Ā
Are there fancier, more upmarket places to do breakfast? Sure. But Dumbo's combo of classics and creations with a variety of flavour twists all delivered with fast, friendly service is a winner. It's breakfast professionally done without the hype.
P.S. Loved that this little store is off the main drag with plenty of free parking. Bonus!
Very impressed with this little west-side cafe! The cafe is small and was quite crowded on a Saturday late morning (A good sign!).
Rosso coffee was really good (they have Bonsoy and Milk Lab!).
I tried the Buttermilk crepes, with ricotta, lemon, hazelnut and amaretto cherries. It was really filling and rich, but a tasty sweet treat for a weekend brunch.
Service was really friendly, which made the brunch experience a positive one.
A great local gem. Coffee is the best in the area, the vibe is very chill with a local feel. Staff are always super friendly and Iāve never had a bad meal - missing the Burek eggs though (they were awesome) food is always consistent and a real winner for WEFO. Love the takeaway window too! Thanks Dumbo!
This place used to be in my top 3, but unfortunately it misses consistency, coffee can be a real hit and miss, which is a bummer.
Food has been pretty good most times, on the off chance youāll have a portion size that is less then the usual āgoodā size.
Service always on point!
Hidden gem in the Westside~!! On the table we have the eggs benedict and green chilli scram. We were really surprised because both dishes were beyond our expectations since we often have brunch in the cbd. We thought a ābrunch placeā in our local suburb wouldnāt live up to its hype. However we learned not to judge a book by its cover because it was really delicious! Plus sitting outdoors gave us good lighting for selfies and ig worthy foodie pictures š
Was searched up restaurants for brunch and I went to tried out this cafe. Really love it, yummy foods, coffee taste cant be any better š Friendly staffs with good service. LOVE IT, will come back for sure š
Very lovely environment and not only was the food aesthetically pleasing but cooked very well too! The cashier was so nice and funny AHAHA The only downside was the our waiter was VERY blunt and maybe she was just having a bad day but generally, I looked around and all the customer service was great. I highly recommend you trying this cozy place out if youāre in the Westside area; thereās a car parking lot specially for Dumbo :)

Firstly the menu on Zomato does not show the current menu so when I was handed the menu at Dumbo, I was pleased to see sago on the menu. I was after a light and healthy option for brekky, and the sago with palm sugar, bananas, and longan hit the spot. I have always enjoyed the mild caramel flavour of palm sugar, and this was no different. The sago was perfectly cooked, and was soft, delicate and slightly jelly-like. The dish was just missing another element of texture to balance it out.
The corn beef sandwich that my partner had was delicious too. Meaty, juicy and full of flavour. The bread was so soft and fluffy, and soaked up all the delicious juice from the corn beef.
Our skinny lattes were excellent, so good in fact I had another cup. Strong, smooth and balanced, just the way I liked it.
With not that many tables available, nor other cafes in the vicinity, Dumbo gets busy fairly quickly. Service was attentive and charming, rounding up a very enjoyable meal.
Great cafe positioned in West Footscray.
We tried the current special, honey baked Brie fondue with spinach, crispy polenta and chipotle bacon jam. Very decadent but extremely delicious. The balance of creamy cheesy and crunchy polenta croquette was incredible. The bacon jam added a nice sweetness to the dish.
Coffee was great and the staff were very friendly also.
Great little spot in a quiet residential street. My soy cap (yeah, judge away) was smooth and creamy - beautiful. The truffled mushrooms with poached eggs on toast were super tasty with some great little details added. The decor gives the place a nice relaxed vibe.
Pretty cool place. In an area with a lot of options this one did its job and whilst a bit too cosy and squashy at times, the food was very good. The staff attentive and any place that allows a golden Labrador to roam in the courtyard gets 5 stars from me.
Cute little cafe and amazing food and coffee. Can recommend the waffles! Maybe lacking a bit of customer service but otherwise a great place to eat. Can recommend.
Went there for brunch on Sunday. Usually there's a queue but got lucky this time straight in. Great coffee and service (tip: don't get matcha). They are also very thoughtful about those with babies/kids as they have the spare nappies and baby rash spray etc in the bathroom, not to mention there's a change table for those in need. However the cafe is a bit small so I'd recommend to get in early. If you like simple design with good food and service, this is the place. Right next to a local primary school too so pretty convenient for parents catch up on weekdays.
We ordered the chilli scrambled eggs & Turkish eggs. The chilli scrambled eggs were delicious with a big hit of chilli. I loved how the chilli was cooked with the scrambled eggs and not just as a garnish like other chilli scrambled eggs. The Turkish eggs was not my favorite as the flat bread was a bit too hard.
Looooooove set up and the food has always been delicious. Been here a couple of times now as itās used to be my area though now I have moved further away I still come back. Last time I order the avocado on toast. It was the most colourful, tasty and filling avo Iāve ever had.
Lovely cafe in west Footscray. Went there for brunch on the weekend and as expected it was quite busy. But we got seated almost straightaway on the largish communal table. Coffee orders were taken promptly and brought out in a timely manner eventhough they were clearly busy with dine in and takeaway orders. Coffee was smooth and at a drinkable temperature which was great. We didnāt have to wait long for the food either once the order was taken. Portions were decent and reasonable for the price. Flavour blended well together and most importantly the poached eggs were on point ! Soft and runny inside, they were little parcels of liquid gold ! Ambiance in the cafe was upbeat and although it did feel slightly crowded as space was limited, we didnāt feel cramped or the need to shout to be heard. Overall a great experience and we will be back for sure !
Been there twice and have had great experiences both times. Enjoy changed once, but didn't bother me as food was good enough. Kid friendly and gets busy as its small.
Dumbo is tucked away on a side street in West Footscray - it used to be a Milk Bar in bygone years. Even so it is quite popular and well visited and you might have bit of a wait at peak times. You can get all day breakfast and lunch as well as some pastries in the morning. Service is friendly and fast. There are high chairs available but the cafe is small and there isnāt heaps of space for a big pram or bassinet.
Dumbo has amazed me on two occasions with their delicious flavour combinations and picturesque presentation.
I highly recommend the waffles with caramel sauce, caramelised white chocolate, wattleseed crumble and candied bacon. The smokiness and saltiness of the bacon compliment the sweetness of the caramel sauce and waffles.
Really enjoyed my food here! The portions could be bigger but the quality is definitely there. They have some really great vegetarian options available and are pet friendly. The matcha latte is the traditional Japanese stuff so donāt expect the smooth sweet stuff you get at most cafes (the traditional matcha is much more bitter). The staff were very friendly and attentive.
Very surprised to find this trendy little cafe in the middle of the middle of West Footscray. Particularly surprised by the uber trendy demographic, everyone looked like they belonged in Chapel St and the decor was to match. Anyway the food was yum - my potato and zuchini rosti was delicious but the avocado on it tasted like it was from a packet. Chilli scrambled eggs and the waffles were delicious too. Good coffee. Super busy so lots of people struggled to get a table at 11am on a Saturday. Overall it was good and I would totally go there again (and avoid the packet tasting avocado).
I have nothing to fault about this place! We came here on a Sunday afternoon and took a seat out the front as the side seating was full. Service was prompt and friendly, we were quickly given menus and water. I was going for the potato fritters but he also wanted potato fritters so I opted for the truffled mushrooms instead. And I'm so glad I did. Generous serve of mushrooms with robust truffle flavour. From start to finish the flavour was amazing, didn't get too salty as I would've expected. I'll definitely be returning! Cute little cafe in the suburbs, great staff and amazing food!
As soon as i sat down I felt like I was in the right place for a great breakfast. Felt instantly welcomed by the friendly waiter, got myself the perfect seat for excellent lighting (ie. For photos ). I ordered an Iced Tea & the Banoffee Donuts!! Wowza š The iced tea was decorated with mint which gave it extra freshness. The donuts were cooked to perfection, the dish was complex as there were many elements from the glazed banana to delicious mascarpone. Will definitely be returning with some friends for brunch.
It was excellent and different food. Really loved it. The weather heals up so we sat outside too and it was simply great. I had the pulled beef and the Mrs. Mostafamashiat had salmon special.
Lucky enough to live on the same street, so I get to try all the new dishes! Current fave is the matcha waffles, but the ricotta donuts are my fave. Great coffee, great staff, and local šš½
First impression, this place is light and friendly. Was busy, but we were seated straight away. Coffee came out promptly and had a good flavour and expertly made. We had the banoffee donuts and potato fritters. Donuts were amazing! So full of flavour, the banana was cooked to perfection and the coffee mascarpone was an excellent addition. I couldn't have finished the whole thing to myself because it was such a sweet treat. The potato fritters were delicious, a mixture of flavours that worked well together, I feel like it probably could have done without the pickled cauliflower however. All in all, great place.
We went on a Saturday morning for a brunch with a group of friends, this place was buzzing, yet they accommodated us quickly even thou not all our friends had turned up yet- none of that non-sense "you can only sit once everyone has turned up" you often hear. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Food was fantastic- I had the avocado and feta dish, and I dare say it was the best I have ever had. All my friends had different dishes and loved them. Their chai and coffee (espresso) were also really nice, and all came beautifully presented in cute cups/plates. Finally, despite being super busy, they were happy to split the bill in 3 (as we were 3 couples), which made things so much easier. This place is now going to enter our regular local cafe rotation.
Cosy cafe located in west Footscray. Dumbo delivers unique brunch dishes and beverages.
Quite disappointing though that they've changed their menu around. Was looking forward on ordering the mushroom and mashed polenta.
The eggs benedict is very tasty.
Yogurt latte was something we've never seen before and it was surprisingly pleasant. Iced coffee was great and the beetroot juice quenches your thirst!
The hot chocolate was beautifully presented, they have two options on how intense you want the chocolate to taste. Basically milk or dark chocolate.
Came back to try the potato fritters and truffle mushroom on toast. Not too bad, would try something different.
Staff are lovely and attentive, service is quick.
Will be returning to try this macoroni spaghetti toasting and other sandwiches!
Take your lover, friends and family here. Popular family atmosphere here.
A really friendly bunch of staff! Although the cafe was packed, positives are a quick turn over and prompt service. The food was tasty and plentiful! Our breakfast was very affordable. Came out of there full and happy.
Dumbo is situated amongst a line of neat housing in West Footscray. We only had to queue for a few minutes to get a table on Saturday - but be sure to come in before 11 because a long line quickly formed by the time we were seated!Ā I ordered the iced Strawberry Swoon tea but I was given a latte version of instead. Couldnāt bother to request a change because the latte looked so pretty! It was a nice balance of gentle sweetness and slight acidity.Ā My brunch buddy of the day decided to go for the Truffled Mushrooms that came with poached eggs and sourdough

Situated in a quiet residential street is an absolute gem of a cafe. One look at the menu and I had to order the potato fritters and I'm so glad I did. The fritters were moist and flavoursome enriched with corn and accompanied by Avocado purƩe and a yummy sumac yogurt. The salad was fresh with pea shoots and heirloom tomatoes and the vibrant turmeric and coriander seed cauliflower pieces were a lovely addition. The dish came with a generous amount of smoked salmon and I ordered the poached egg which added more moister to the dish. All up a winning combination of flavours. I absolutely enjoyed devouring this dish. The coffee was excellent and they have real sugar as I have a dislike for that light brown powdery stuff popular at many cafes. My only criticisms were the fella who was serving the food twice came to our table with orders for another table, once I can forgive but twice becomes annoying! Also the maple in the Matcha was way too subtle to the point of not making any difference to the flavour.
Great quality food and amazing service set in a wonderful little space. My friend couldn't eat her meal and the kind staff took it off the bill without waiting for us to ask.
Great place for a quick bite or a long brunch. A bright little cafe with energetic young staff. We had the chicken pearl cous cous salad dish was delicious, the lamb stew had lots of flavour, and the fried doughnut dessert was filling but a little doughy. The drinks were great, I especially liked the green Matcha. Highly recommend.
Slowly becoming regulars at this brunch spot. Love the staff, food & coffee. Always a trial decided what to eat as everything sounds sensational. Thumbs up for alfresco doggo friendly seating!
We come here often but never left a review. This time we arrived only to find out after an hour our food didn't come. The supervisor/manager said that the order was put through but the dockets were lost in process (peak hour, kinda understandable). Food came immediately after order was replaced. At the end when we went to pay, he put everything on the house. The manager said, "No one should wait that long for their food." That's class. Food have always been impressive but I thought this time the service deserved a special mention.

What a much needed addition to the cafe scene in the Western suburbs of Melbourne! This cute cafe is Perfectly positioned in a quiet street with plenty of free parking. The interior is cosy and inviting. The food here does not disappoint. We tried the fancy avocado on toast dish with plenty of added flavours including tea soaked prunes, goats cheese and dukkah. The Bircher was also really delicious and presented so beautifully. The highlight was the banoffee donuts!! The flavours were spot on...can't get enough of this caramel and banana combo! It was a perfect serving to share between the two of us after we had our main dishes. Coffee is also great!! I'll be back here for sure.
Neat, trendy & a hidden gem in the West Footscray area. Great simple menu also, wish the cafe space was a bit bigger but overall a great place.
I have only recently discovered this little gem tucked away in a quiet suburban street and must say, I would most definitely recommend it to anyone who loves their breakfast/brunch. We ordered the chilli scrambled eggs but ordered a side of roasted mushrooms and a potato fritter with it. The service was great, food was fresh and delicious and the atmosphere of the cafe was relaxing. The chai was brewed perfectly. Really enjoyable dining experience.
Looking for your next Instagrammable brunch place? Dumbo is tucked into an unassuming suburban street in West Footscray, and is the perfect place for young families especially.
First thing you'll notice is the amazing service - staff were super helpful and keen to chat as well.
Food and coffees were great too, and presented beautifully. Pictured are the matcha waffles, which were fluffy and had lots of wonderful elements like black sesame ice cream, raspberry crumble and honeycomb. However, matcha lovers will be disappointed that the waffles only had a light dusting of matcha, and weren't actually made with matcha powder.
Overall, lovely local spot that is a true gem in the area!
Needed to try this place after seeing some decent pics and reviews. The jury is still out though. I wasn't overly impressed but not disappointed either. The menu is great as there is a few dishes to chose from. It appears they've done their homework and seen what every Melbournian likes and added it to their menu.
I had the avocado on pumpkin sourdough with added salmon. It was a decent serving. The coffee was amazing so I had to have 2 cups.
Will need to be back to try something else and maybe then can give it a higher score.
This definitely a gem in the west. Tucked in a residential street is quaint and inviting and ticks all the boxes. Good coffee, great food, some delicious sweet treats, outdoor seating that is pooch friendly, and good service. I had the avocado on pumpkin bread when I went and my friend had the super indulgent French toast. We also shared the polenta chips. We loved every bite. Would definitely recommend!
Gorgeous little cafe, the design is modern with a massive share table, and a few side tables. Small capacity! The mushroom burger was juicy, the sauces perfect and the sweet potato thins went well to accompany. I'd prefer it with a bun that wasn't brioche as it was incredibly sweet. Best chai I've had in a long time! Iced drink was unique, with fresh fruits and a hidden flavour that just totally hit the spot.
Dumbo is a very cosy and cute place for a quick lunch. The food came out fresh and well presented and the staff were really nice. The only problem we had was with the table, it was a bit too small for the food we had ordered but nevertheless not much else can be faulted. Great food and really cool beverage options
Ps. Went a couple of months ago
Lovely service and quickly seated despite busy period and large group. Food was delicious- highly recommend the matcha waffles and the polenta chips! Will be coming back so we can try more of the menu.
Dumbo is definitely one of the best cafe's of the west Footscray. Loved the modern look of the cafe. Staffs were friendly and attentive.
Would definitely come back!
A very cute and cosy local cafe. The food was appetising, although banoffee donuts were a bit tuff, the matcha waffles on the other hand were outstanding! Overall, great place with a friendly service, would definitely visit again.

Located away from the hustle and bustle of the city, discover āDumboā, a lovely modern cafe serving great coffee by local roaster Rosso Roasting Co, Ā inventiveĀ all day breakfast, lunch and some old time milk bar classics. TheĀ menu at Dumbo isĀ both creative and flavoursome, changing seasonally with specials available daily. Enjoy fresh pastries by Ā Seddon Sourdough kitchen are available each morning (until sold out) and a range of takeaway items that are made handy through the Dumbo Express window.
This menu is so loveable! So many dishes that tickle my fancy. Usually I eliminate all but one or two options but Dumbo has at least 6 plates I'd order so I'm coming back to try them all! It's not that I'm super fussy or have any dietary requirements, just that I've consumed many a bacon & eggs on seedy Sunday mornings that I can't do it anymore. Totally my own doing. Anyway, Dumbo is definitely on my revisit list. We rocked up at 10:30. Every seat was full. Wait for a table of 2 was only 5 min but the table of four in front of us waited 20min. 10:30 was peak time. Come 1/2 hour earlier or later & you'd have been seated straight away. There's tables of two out front and some larger ones tucked around the side of the building which is dog friendly. We sat out front. Service was perky & quick. Coffee spot on. I chose a cheat breakfast because I was with a non-judging girlfriend. Went all out with the French Toast with Salted Caramel. No need to impress anyone today. Friend enjoyed the extremely filling Avocado with Cherry Tomatoes and commented on the great coffee. Parking on street and also in the school car park next door on weekends. Great addition to WeFo.
Came here for lunch over the weekend and ordered the chilli scrambled eggs and the baked Moroccan lamb.
I enjoyed my chilli scrambled eggs but thought it needed something else on plate. The lamb was full of flavour and the meat was tender. When shared, these two dishes tasted great!
I really enjoyed the coffee here, it didn't leave my mouth feeling dry.
Staff were friendly, seating is limited as it's quite a small cafe.
The west has lifted up the game and Dumbo š is one of the reasons behindšŖ. Located deep in the residential streets of West Footscray, Dumbo has made itself a name and such a high reputation that has now become a foodie destinationš.
Beautiful interior decor will welcome you as well as plenty of smiles and helpful staff members. It is small, but yet so cozy that you will feel at home š
I ordered their Couscous Pearl Salad after being recommended by the waiter. The wait for the food was less than 5 minutes and then salad was very tasty, it had texture and it was filling š it was on the salty side due to the dressing, but I didn't mind that.
Overall, a great dining experience and I would recommend everyone to check this place out..even if you are on the other side of town.
Thank you for having me š
Updated review:
Ordered a Smash avocado on my second visit and it was superb. Get it before they change their menu!!!
I had been wanting to try Dumbo for quite some while, and I believe we've found our new local. The staff, the vibe, and the food (especially the food) were nothing less than commendable. We had the french toast (albeit not with the donuts, which we will most definitely try on our next visit) and the borek. Any Melbourne cafe-goer that has eaten at enough "trendy" cafes would know that they all tend to have the same menu, with variations to each dish, each trying to be more instagrammable than the next. Dumbo is no exception, however the dishes we tried were definite standouts. Eager to visit again and again, and will recommend to friends in the area.
A former milk bar-turned-hipster cafe in the heart of WeFo (West Footscray), DumboĀ draws in crowds of brunch-goers from near and far. Despite sounding like it is named after the cartoon baby elephant, Dumbo, from our childhood years, it sadly is not. Co-owners and partners Liam and Daniel chose this clever name for their new cafe after being inspired by the New York neighbourhood famous for its hipster warehouses, factories, cafes, bars and food market.

Service is always on point - food to match. Great little cafe! Loved the eggs benedict and coffee is divine. Not a local to this area but definitely worth the trek to Footscray.
Taking up residence in a former milk bar which had been vacant for over 20 years, Dumbo is the first city cafe of Liam Thornycroft who has been in the hospitality industry since the age of 10-ish working in a cafe in Daylesford. The cafe is right next door to Footscray West Primary School (lucky ducks!!) and on weekends they are allowed to use their car park in return for donating food waste for their garden. (source: GoodFood.com.au)
Cute little cafe tucked in amongst houses.
Everything on the menu looked good and quite a few items were able to be changed to be vegan which is always nice.
The Bircher muesli was quite thick but not too dry with fresh berries adding a pop of colour and flavour.
I had one of the iced teas which was very refreshing for a warm day.
We arrived just before 12pm on a Saturday and had less than a 5 minute wait.
Lovely environment, friendly staff, great food. Had the French toast which was sweet and just a little bit rich with fresh berries. Coffee was good and grabbed a hot chocolate to go.
Fast becoming my favourite brekky spot in the west. The chill scrambled eggs are my menu pick - fresh, well seasoned and a good hit of chilli. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. However very small and narrow walkways so I wouldn't call this place wheelchair accessible.
You'd be a dumbo not to give this place a go... Footscray is developing a range of great eateries, and DUMBO is a hidden gem on a quiet street in West Footscray. Converted from an old school milk bar, this place is beautifully renovated and serves up delicious treats.
Awesome little cafe with a nice atmosphere, happy and helpful staff and easy street parking. Very diverse menu, would suit many people. Delicious food and would definitely come back!
Dumbo felt like it was in the āburbs ā mostly because I pulled out the old Journey Planner and found itād take a bit over an hour, and in some cases a combination of three modes of transport, to get there. With most peopleās knowledge of Footscray limited to the immediate vicinity of markets and authentic Vietnamese food surrounding the train station, a cafĆ© in the backstreets of a residential neighbourhood felt like an anomaly.
Cute little cafe nestled in West Footscray, not really near any other noteworthy attractions. The food has a bit more variety than other brunch places I've been to. I went with a large group of 8, we waited for quite a while as expected since we were such a large group. Ordered the polenta chips to share but they weren't quite crispy enough to lift off like a normal fry. The flavours were delicious, but the texture was a bit too mushy. Also had a matcha latte and the borek. The matcha latte isn't sweet, so if you order it, maybe ask if they add some honey! It did look very pretty though. The borek was very yum and the pastry was crisp.Ā
I live on the west side, so it's nice to have another addition of local places to hang around. You'll leave Dumbo satisfied!
On Australia day we decided to try a different cafe and I stumbled upon one in Footscray! Weāre not one to venture out this way usually but boy were we surprised. We were seated straight away, outside mind you, and the day was actually a bit cold but luckily it didnāt rain! My hubby ordered a dirty chai and I ordered their matcha latte.

From the unassuming facade to the immaculate presentation of all their dishes; this place oozed style. The brioche burger was perfect, the filter coffee was fantastic, and the donuts were a great way to finish off a fantastic meal. Cheers for the experience!
Dumbo is a cool local cafe located in West Footscray, which we decided to go and try out over the weekend.
Overall we had a really good experience and enjoyed the food/drink!
To eat we had:
ā¢ Ricotta donuts w/ cocoa custard, fresh berries, salted caramel, vanilla crumb and vanilla bean ice-cream.
ā¢ Avocado w/ heirloom tomatoes, goats cheese, basil, chilli, red onion, heirloom radish & house made almond dukkah on sourdough and a poached egg.
To drink we had:
ā¢ Peeling Fantastic Iced Tea
ā¢ Strawberry Iced Tea
Service was really good as well as the food. The iced tea's need a mention in this review, definitely one of the best Iced tea's we've had, so refreshing and not sweet at all..just the way it should be! The only thing we could fault was of our donuts wasn't cooked quite enough and was still very doughy inside. That didn't ruin our experience though, being local to the area we'll definitely be back again soon!
Dumbo is located in a quiet suburban street where its building was once a milk bar, which has now transformed into the local go-to cafƩ in the neighbourhood. The cafƩ has a modern and cosy vibe, with open windows and cushy pillows - the atmosphere was super comfy!
Before this review, we had already been here once and we truly enjoyed the food and service, so we knew we wanted to come back to try more!
We ordered our favourite sautƩed seasonal mushrooms, ricotta donuts, avocado with heirloom tomatoes and their new spiced tacos with chicken.
The highlights for us were the sauteed mushrooms and ricotta donuts (by the way their french toast is fantastic too). The tender mushrooms was cooked to perfection and was coated in a savory and slightly tart sauce. The last time we visited we ordered the french toast which was absolutely fantastic, but I have to say the ricotta donuts take the cake! The donuts were soft, fluffy and airy inside that was further glazed with an indulgent caramelised sauce. It came with a side of vanilla bean and black sesame ice cream which was extra creamy and worked so exceptionally well together with the donuts. A must try if you come here!
Ā All the staff are friendly, attentive and have a helpful attitude! Dumbo is the definition of above and beyond for customer service. They offered us to reheat our food when it got all cold from taking pictures.Ā
Overall I highly recommend Dumbo, we will definitely be back!
Great venue, and the renovation is very smart indeed. Looks like a Fitzroy cafe in the West, Argyle Street is green and leafy...Staff very friendly and loved the menu.
Between us we shared the Chillie scrambled egss and Avocado w heirloom tomatoes, with an added poached egg. Everything on the plates was perfect, great coffee as well. I can't think of a time when the staff politely declinded a tip, and said when you come back next time.
Great to see another fantastic cafe within walking distance of home, will be going again soon.
Delicious breakfast and great coffee, yummy sweets + outstanding service from Ian! Perfect combo to start the day! Highly recommend this place ubereats with them is good too well organized no spill coffee with cling wrap and a crate and quality of coffee is just as always great! Thanks Sandra for always making my coffee so good! š
Came here on a Sunday and whilst busy we managed to get a table straight away.
Ordered the corn fritters and coconut eggs. Both dishes were great, coconut eggs in particular was very well balanced and super tasty, roti was a little too crispy for my liking but apart from that was a delicious dish. Coffees and fresh OJ were all up to par for a top Cafe.
Service was prompt and friendly, look forward to coming back and trying more of the fairly extensive menu.
I found this nice cafe by chance, and had nice food.
The volume is a bit small, but the taste was amazing.
Had Maple Waffle and Brunch Bowl.
I went to West 48 for breakfast and ordered the Mushroom Stack. The background music, unique military-style cutlery holder and dog-friendliness created a great ambience to come into.
They have a great menu, which made it hard to choose a dish, but the Mushroom Stack was more than I expected. A generous portion and a nice mix of flavours that made a delicious combination!
A great place for breakfast if youāre in the area. We arrived when it was busy and we sat outside for awhile before we could be moved inside, in winter. The staff are kind and welcoming.
Will definitely be coming back here!
Coffee is good, the Oreo milkshake was amazing. And the food was incredible! Absolutely loved the vegetarian shakshuka and samvar coconut eggs especially!
The staff are friendly and chatty, and the vibe of the place is lovely.
Favourite Cafe in Melbourne so far!
Great local place to eat if you're from the inner West. Delicious selection of food and drink. We expected serving size to be bigger but we didn't leave hungry. Can be busy on the weekends so recommend booking a table, especially if you're bringing your dog for an outdoor seat.
My new favourite cafe! Best food, best staff, best vibes. Iāve been here pretty much every day for the last week.
