Review Footscray Best Kebab House - Footscray

Definitely the most delicious kebabs we've had in a very long time with generous serving sizes and friendly staff which make for a great family environment. Would definitely recommend!

By far the best kebab experience I've ever had. Excellent taste and great service. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

Have been going here for 5-6 years now, they never fail to disappoint. The use of melting cheese on the HSP is a game changer, the staff are insanely nice. Iskender the best please order this when you come here.

My favourite kebab joint. Food tastes fantastic and staff are friendly. Unfortunately, the serving sizes are getting a bit rediculous especially considering the cost. I ordered a large mix kebab plate to dine in and was shocked to see the tiny amount of meat served on the plate. I was even more suprised when the guy next to me who had ordered a small plate received basically the same amount of meat as I did. I'll still probably drop in every now and then as the food is great but then again ...maybe not.

Ordered two HSP and two meat and salad pack for delivery. Uber delivery guy was waiting for 15 minutes then went to do another delivery because food took too long to make. Order arrived cold. Chips had no salt on them when i asked for extra salt. Seemed to have more sauces on the salad and meat pack than the actual HSP. Only given 2 stars because the chicken actually tasted decent. Maybe cut your baking paper for the boxes to size as well. EDIT: The shop has replied very thoughtfully to my review and as such, have updated to a 4 star. They've taken the time to review customer feedback, which in itself deserves a star. Thanks guys!

Ordered a large kofte meal and this is what was served! Awesome flavours, rice was cooked beautifully, fresh salad, flavoursome dips (chilli) and (garlic) and some toasty warm bread on the side. The meat was tender and full of flavour, enjoyed every bit of my meal here... highly recommended. Also staff were very courteous and inviting even though they were quite busy... I understand now why they were as busy as the were! Awesome eat!

This is my go to place for a kebab now. For someone who is not a big fan of kebabs you must give this place a try because it will definitely change your mind, price is perfect and the people who take your order is super nice!

Been visiting for 3 years and still the best kebab place I’ve been to! I cannot get enough of their Turkish bread as the chew, fluff and seasoning is perfect, everytime! Kebab meat is always delicious and is actually meat, spicy chargrilled mince is so on point. All dips are flavourful (hasn’t tasted the chilli one as I can’t eat spring onion, but it do look awesome) and chunky, chips always super crunchy and hot 👌 wo UK lx give an extra star if I could.

Best Turkish kebab that I have had in Melbourne .. tried their $30 mixed platter and was worth the money 💰 ... service was excellent and the platter had so much variety of meat .. I simply loved it .. tried visiting again today but they are closed and unfortunately went to another kebab place which was a waste of money and the worst kebab experience in Melbourne

Best kababs in Melbourne by a long way. Bread is delightfully fresh. Will be a staple from now on. Really really enjoyed it

Just four words for you: - carrot and chilli dips. 👌👌 👌👌👌👌👌👌
Oh and ADANA. Best ever in the West. And many other spots in Melbourne.

Been here quite a bit. Their prices have gone up and are stingy with HSP meat. But when you get a proper meal and have a eat in meal, WOW. The quality is amazong along with the service.

3.0 Kebab / HSP joint that's tastier, but pricier, than most.

🍹 DRINKS: n/a
🍽 FOOD:
- Large HSP, sauce on side $20 - tasty, not-too-greasy lamb and chicken meat though sparse. Lots of chips. Sauces were delicious though. Felt overpriced for what it was.
📷 AMBIENCE: average takeaway fare, not great dine-in experience.
🧂SERVICE: fine.
📖 LOG:
- 2019.04.03. Here with T for pre-hoop feeds!

Really is the kebabs best in Footscray. The homemade Turkish bread is amazing here and when you pair it with the generous amount of meat and other fillings it’s a match made in heaven. The baklava is probably the best I’ve eaten aswell

This used to be a real cool place to eat at, however it's no longer as it used to be, the staff are rude and the kebab is extremely oily and it's not fresh as it used to be.

This is a very solid kebab joint, and the name is pretty true for the area!

The bread is fresh. The meats are delicious, hitting that great balance of charred edges whilst still juicy. Generous serves, too.

It's a popular Footscray fixture for a reason.
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: my all time favourite Kebab place in Footscray!

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: they give generous amounts of lamb and the meat is deliciously roasted. The ciabatta bread is still fresh and crunchy and the salad is fresh. I would highly recommend the lamb kebab.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: prices have gone up over the years but it’s worth it

🥇Lizzie rates overall: A great local place for kebabs!

Try the iskender and you will not be disappointed. Best iskender I have had in Melbourne and it is always consistently good. The kofte is also highly recommended.

Best kebabs in Footscray! Their plate meals as well as their kebabs are delicious and fresh. I just wish they were open later as it’s hard to catch them.
The Pup
Well the name of the joint really sums it up. Probably Melbourne’s best. My fave is the chicken shish kebab with cacik (tatziki) instead of garlic sauce. The eat in meals are great and they give you enough fresh Turkish bread to feed a small family. The house made chunky chilli dip/sauce is a must!

Best kebabs in melbourne been coming here for over 20 years lamb is always fresh and of excellent quality and accompanied by mad marination and home made bread never disappoints

No doubt the best kebab place in Footscray. The ingredients are fresh and the service is quick. Will always come here when I'm craving a kebab during lunch hour.

Been coming here for years.. and will continue to do so. No frills friendly service and hearty food at affordable prices! The kebab plates are the highlight here and come with plenty of sides including salad, rice and your choice of dips. The Turkish bread is also amazing and can be purchased separately to take home. This place is definitely one of Footscray's gems!

Amazingly fresh kebabs, a focus on quality products is clear as you can taste the quality. Staff are friendly and welcoming and could not recommend highly enough
Must Be Hungry
I love coming here for my kebab fix where the focus is primarily on quality produce and ingredients. It is not your classic greasy hard to eat kebab, the bread is a delight and the meat is just perfect. Wide range of options to choose from, today I picked a large mixed kebab for $10.
Thank you for having me 😉

The perfect hangover cure for me is a kebab from footscray best kebab house with a side of chips (heavy chicken salt pls). MSG + fat are an unbeatable combo. I always get the chicken kebab (served on a thin turkish roll rather than on a flatbread), with tabbouleh, cheese, bbq sauce & garlic sauce. Amazeballs. The small one should be plenty for most ladies out there, even for those of us with man-sized appetites.

I really like the food at this place, I had the Iskender dine in and was great. It is served on a hotplate and also comes with some Turkish bread. The Turkish coffee was also very nice

Kebabs best in melbourne lives up to the name as it states.

Salad in kebab very fresh always

Good Turkish coffee ask the old guy to make it.

Very busy

When not busy talk to two owners they are friendly

Parking difficult but it's worth the hassle

Store clean

Positives:

Kebabs and kebab plate is worth a go. If you like chilli, then the chilli dip is an absolute must on a kebab plate.

Negatives
- price has increased and the kebab plate portions have gone smaller
- take-away kebab plate is MUCH smaller than eating in. The amount of meat is no where near eating in
- not opened on Sundays, and closes early on weekdays.

I shared the Small Mixed Kebab Meal ($14) with my friend. There was so much turkish bread! Yummy goodness! At first we were worried that the small platter was not enough but it was plenty for the both us. They gave us three types of dips: carrot, Cacık (similar to tzatziki) and a hot chilli one. They were all divine! The lamb and chicken were soft and flavoursome which contrasted well with the salad. The salad was crispy with an abundance of lettuce, spring onion, carrot, cabbage and cucumber. The spring onion could have been sliced a little finer because at times it felt overpowering. We were delighted to see that the middle section

Love the kebabs. Super tasty and fresh.
The meal pack is great as a dish. Having your bread, meat, salad and condiments to be eaten to your our liking. :)
Recommended 👍
Poor food handling practices. I saw a staff member handling money and food without wearing gloves. When l questioned the staff member she didn't care. Have reported them to the health department

Footscray Best Kebab House is right in the middle of Footscray's busy Nicholson Mall pedestrian walk and does a roaring trade with its Turkish-style kebab dishes. Serving sizes are enormous. A small mixed kebab with chicken and lamb ($7.50) should keep one relatively well-fed though if you're starving, take a punt on the mixed kebab meal for $14. You get a large mound of delicious salty shavings of crispy charred spit lamb and chicken meat with your choice of 2 dips (go for the spicy chilli) and salad with a large basket of fresh hot Turkish bread. The meat is nicely topped off with a large roasted green chilli. I would say the meat seasoning is on the salty side so this might not be to everyone's taste, but it's fine with me, especially if you eat it with the bread and salad. You order at the counter and service is no-nonsense, quick and functional (well, it is a kebab shop). A major plus is that they give you doggy bags for your bread (which is usually too much for one) without charging. I'd recommend Footscray Best Kebab House if you have a hankering for Turkish around these parts.

... I believe Footscray Best Kebab House has fallen a tiny bit short from the “best”, as I’ve had better kebab plates from other restaurants. Don’t expect anything fancy from this restaurant… I mean after all, it is Footscray. This place is just plain, simple, authentic... Don’t get me wrong, the food was still delicious and I finished every spoonful. I guess I’ll just have to come back another time to try their actual kebabs and see if I can be proven wrong!

Footscray Best Kebab House truly does have a great reputation for their kebabs. For a mere $8.50, you can grab yourself a traditional large kebab filled with fresh lettuce and tomatoes, onions, garlic sauce, and of course, a good serving of juicy proteins! You have the hard decision of choosing between lamb or chicken to put in your kebab, but if it's too hard, por que no tienen? (Why can't we have both?) All this is then wedged into a pocket of crusty Turkish bread. They also have marinated skewers and other flavoured meats available if you feel adventurous!

I asked for a lamb kebab with whatever dressings the boys suggested, sans onion, and we sat outside along the mall to eat. It was a pretty big kebab, with real lamb, lettuce and tomato, chilli flakes, "hoomoos" and garlic sauce, all wrapped in a Turkish bread roll, not pita bread. The lamb varied between succulent, juicy morsels to drier, saltier pieces, which was wonderful, and the homemade hummus with tahini was creamy and worked well w

Used to be great. But it's gone to the dogs
food still ok but smaller portions and terrible service, plus they've put the prices up so its no longer good value.
Well past its sell by date.

Misnomer. I reckon Amasya Kebab across the street is better.

There is 5 kebab places in footscray for some reason but this place is the Best kebab place in footscray. I usually get the standard take away kebab and coke for $11 which us a good deal. Quality always there.

Best kebabs !. Footscray Best Kebab House lives up to its name. Hands down the best kebab ive tried around Melbourne. Generous portions, fresh, delicious, and cheap!

Their samsun pides are to die for!! I grab one everytime I'm in Footscray. My favourite is mince :)

I went here due to the reviews but I was disappointed. It was decent but nothing amazing.

This place is the best of its kind for the money. I haven't had a better Kebab than this place.

It is.. It really is the best kebab house in Footscray.

Go for the shish kebabs or the platters with the dips and salad. Go for the small size unless you're a big eater!

Great Turkish fast food.. We stumbled in the other day after not having been there for some months, Illious greeted us with a "where have you been brother?" I ask myself that question every time I go there. The staff are friendly, the food is great & on Monday the 28th of November 2011 Footscray best had its tenth birthday. Well done guys. May the next ten years be as good as the ten gone by. Oh about the food, the kebabs are sensational, the mixed grill is amazing, but my personal favourite is the lamb meal of the day.

Real Turkish Kebabs. Real lamb, real homemade hummus, and fresh turkish bread. Unreal!

My favourite kebab joint. Kebab house located in Footscray near the markets must be one of the best in town. Everything is home-made. From the dips to the breads. The prices are so affordable. $5.50 for small and about $8 for large.
What is amazing is that everything is so fresh. The salads are crisp and the bread is so light! It is not the usual heavy oily kebabs that we are used to. You can buy the skewers or the marinated meats from the shop as well.

Footscray Best Kebab House is Footscray. Nothing better than sitting on the side of footscray's CBD with lahmacun in hand for only 7 dollars.

Think you've had a kebab before? Wrong. Just like a heart, the life off footscray goes in and out oxygenated with a kebab. These are kebabs.
Richo
No pretence, just good food!. This narrow bustling cafe always seems to be full, but magically always has room for one more, and a cheerful staff member to serve. All the favourites are there, and executed just so.

The quick turnover means everything is always fresh, and the line of homemade takeaway dips & salads would do the smartest BBQ proud. My favourite, however, is the bread. Equal to any, and infinitely superior to the supermarkets for $3 a loaf. **** Itadakimasu (Bread recently gone up to $3.50, but still excellent value)
