best bangladeshi food i have ever had in Melbourne. specially chotpoti and curry. I will be coming again.
They did catering for my son's birthday party. Everyone loved the food. Thank u.
The food was really very good. We liked it. Thanks
Superb.mmmmnmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnkmkhgfjjhggfffgggjjhfgg
I was skeptical after seeing some of the reviews here, however we had a very pleasant dinner. The starters were very generous with plenty of deep fried options. We shared a selection of curries and enjoyed most, the lamb and beef was tender. The chef/owner was very passionate about his food and came to speak to us throughout the night. The food is traditional, well priced and there's a huge menu, all topped off with friendly service.

Overall, this is average. Their saag was spinach leaves with cream (Horrible) and the leaves were nlt chopped finely into a paste with other spices. Their tikka masala curry was plain wrong - not tandoor cooked and with no complexity of flavour. Their special Lamb-Rice polow dish, which has a distinct name in Begali, as well as their Dahl and lamb curry are lovely. Also, this place has THE best masala chai in Footscray (Possibly in Melbourne). I started going in 2012 and would like to go again soon.
This is the best curry place I've tried in a very long time. The curries pack a punch and spicy means spicy here! I recommend the vindaloo for the true chilli lovers (it's really really hot) and the saag for something which is less likely to cause a tummy upset.
Best Bangladeshi food! Will go there again and again.

I tried the got biryani which was really nice. What I loved best was the service with a smile that I received. I wanted some gravy with my food and the owners served me chicken with it just because they had some. They didn't have to and I didn't pay for it but they went the extra mile just so I'd enjoy the meal at a 100%. Definitely going back. Must visit!
Madhumoti is a small restaurant on a quieter block in Irving Street in Footscray, specializing in Bangladeshi food. Now it isn't going to win any awards for décor or ambience, but go for its ridiculously cheap lunch special of a 1 meat and 1 vegetable combo with rice or naan for $8 (Vegetarian is $7) and you'll be well-fed at a price that will hardly dent your wallet. My personal favourite meat is the goat curry; meltingly tender goat pieces on the bone in a dark subtly spiced curry. On the vegetarian front, the mixed vegetable stir-fry of eggplant and peppers is a also a goer. You'll find that the cooking is more "home-style" and less salty and oily than that in normal restaurants but I'm happy with that. Service is also friendly and amiable.
The decor is basic but sweet - little bunches of plastic flowers on the tables, and Nanna-style plates with water lilies on them.
When we first arrived in the area Madhumoti was our regular haunt for curry. It's a cheery but basic place, hovering on the border between cafe and restaurant. The decoration is basic and cheery! It's byo too, and you even get your own flowers.
Awesome & Delicious Foods. This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Loved their foods big time. The most delicious foods I had in my entire life. Had Shoirsha Ilish (Bangladeshi Dish), Daal Khashi - Goat wit lentils (Bangladeshi Dish) and they were so tasty..OMG! I also had Prawn Bharta but it wasnt made the traditional way and I didnt like it at all. The waiter also forgot to serve us the mixed pickles which we asked for while making the order, later they didnt charge for it. But anyways, the foods are very very delicious...I would chose this restaurant at any given day..a must go place!
Best Bengali Food in town. Love this place, I only come for the Bengali dishes. Mainly because I love Bengali food.
If you've only tried Indian food, I urge you to try the Bengali Dishes on the menu. It's delicious and unique in its own way. One of my fav's is the Goat Bhuna Kichuri.
I really hope Madhmoti is around for a long time yet, I just wish more people knew about this place.
Madhumoti! Great food, great price! yum yum yum
Amazing authentic bengali cuisine. We love this place and keep coming back. Amazing value for money. I just hope they cut dwn the menu and focused more on their unique bengali dishes n proudly represent the name of the restaurant.
Delicious, fresh and great value!. Madhumoti offers some of the best grub to be found in Footscray - this is quite a call, given all the amazing eateries in the neighbourhood.
The flavours are nothing short of sensational!
Try the goat halim for starters and you really can't go wrong with any main - although the butter chicken is one of my favourites.
