Review Slice Girls West - Footscray

Good pizza. Well priced. Service was a bit hit and miss but I did go on a busy Saturday night. Will return.

Not impressed with the pizza that was served up - great names though - maybe it was an off night but the pizza didn't live up to the name. Basically "fresh marinara mix" came with a spattering of chopped up seafood and an extremely thin base.

Pizzas are top notch. Very tasty. We usually order from Back Alley Sallys upstairs.

Great pizza offerings for reasonable prices. Only thing I’d say is that the crust went quite chewy as the pizza cooled.

Great atmosphere! For $6, the pizza is amazing value on Thursdays! Great cocktails too!

This used to be by far my favourite place in the area but something has changed for the worst, the bases are insanely thick, there's way too much sauce and very skimpy toppings. Not sure what's happened but please go back to your previous methods!

Absolutely delicious pizzas, made even more delicious by the spice girl pun names. Fresh ingredients, great flavours, best pizzas in Footscray. Posh Slice = #1!!

Excellent pizza (especially the Taco About It), best takeaway nachos in Footscray. Two complaints. - The waiting times are too long on busy nights. At one point, I had to wait for over 40 minutes for two pizzas. As for nachos, one time they were ready in 5 minutes, and one time I had to wait for an hour. - Also the Taco pizza, while my favorite, just falls apart when you try to eat it.

Hard to find but worth the effort. Best pizza ever, friendly staff, good music and choice of drinks. We will be back.

There's so much that's good about Slice Girls West, but the best bit is the wisdom of whomever decided to stock West City Brewing's Footscray Ale. Put that together with a spicy pizza or a delicious melted cheesey toastie and wow! Just wow!

Great ambiance, Great staff, Great pizza & Great side street location (keeping in with Melbournes traditional laneway culture). Top tip: try the forever mushroom and pinot gris (white)

The pizza was delicious and well priced. Love the location and fitout is great. Fabulous Footscray 👌

Best pizzas I've ever had! The pizzas actually taste as good as they look.. Staff are incredibly friendly and know their stuff. Great atmosphere. In a predicament of telling everyone and keeping this gem to myself! What you're doing sets you apart from the rest!

I first went to Slice Girls the week they opened and have highly recommended it since!
Every time someone comes to Melbourne or needs somewhere to go in Footscray I tell them about Slice Girls/Back Alley Sally’s. The pizzas are amazing!!

Good variety of pizzas including a wide range of vegetarian options. The pizzas were creative and had a good twist to them but the base and crust was slightly burnt and tasted like burnt toast. The only downside to this place is that it smelt like urinals... which didn't make the eating experience appetizing.

Worst dinner experience in Melbourne. Venue isn’t even full to begin with and we waited over an hour for pizzas and nachos! Definitely not coming back here!

Initially they forgot our drink orders. Then took 75 minutes for the food to come out, including sharing platter which was just cheese and cold cuts. Pizza was ok.

Average at best... wish it was better... prices are ok. Ive had take away and eaten upstairs which makes the food a bit more palatable as the ambiance is great!

It started off weird and went down hill from there. Ordering on the phone was unnecessarily confusing, but we pushed through because we just wanted some sweet pizza from across the street. However the pizza itself was bad. Like, dripping with oil, pizza base not even remotely cooked, sad frozen pizza kinda bad. Except for the part where frozen pizza can be kinda good in a gross satisfying kinda way. $40 dollars later and a weird film in my mouth (probably from raw dough let’s be real), y’all have definitely lost what would have been a few lazy regulars who live across the road. 0/10, would not recommend 🤙

enjoyed takeaway pizzas here last night, everything tasted great. service was relatively quick too. tucked away in laneway, definitely worth a visit.

Went here recently for a work lunch. They were extremely accommodating and kind. The pizzas were lovely too! Will definitely be back, just for the service alone.

Very disappointed with our Zig a zag ah, pork of shame and taco abt it. Our orders last night took about 30mins to arrive. The pizza base seemed to be store brought and overall each of our pizzas tasted like a mccains frozen pizza. The favours on the taco about it a s zig a zag ah were good. Great concept, atmosphere, service but the pizza needs to improve.

Cool venue and great service. Whilst the youngling was delighted with his pizza, I found mine somewhat flat. Of note, the base was lacking in flavor and resembled cardboard a bit too much for my liking.

Ordered the Zig-ah which was tasty with a great chili hit and the Avo and prawn (can't recall the name) which was the disappointing one. Plus I thought the lack of topping to be frugal over trendy. For the price, I would prefer elsewhere, although I would be willing to try again due to the lovely service and a different variety.

The award of most obscure alleyway in Footscray (that you'd actually want to visit in the evening) has to be the one behind Conway, where halfway down a doorway leads you to a pizza place and a bar above it. There's no sign from either end of the street - you have to brave your way down and hope for the best, or wade through the smoke of people outdoor polluting the air.

Slice Girls West is a little hard to track down but it's worth persisting to find this diamond in the rough. The premises is small, expect just a few tables and not much outdoor to speak of. Once inside you'd be forgiven for thinking you were visiting a retro Fitzroy cafe. Pizza arrives swiftly and is delicious. We sampled the mushroom-laden pizza and one of their signature "sandwiches".

Came for dinner with a big group, and we all ordered a dish each. I had the nachos, and also tried two pizzas: The Cray Cray and Wannabe Warwick. I enjoyed The Cray Cray, we all agreed that it was like eating a burger and although I usually don't like mustard, it was what the pizza definitely needed. This place is hidden and took us all a while to find, but it's not too bad!

Had drinks at Back Alley Sally and decided to try some food. The mushroom pizza is awesome. Quick service. Reasonably priced for the quality of the pizza. Yum!

The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. The bar was comfortable and cozy. The pizza was up there with the best we've ever had. The base was soft enough with a bit of crunch and the sauce was just to my liking.

Fun joint to hang out with friends, especially now that they've the upstairs bar area. Grab a booth seat if you want a bit more intimacy otherwise there's heaps of open space.

Pizzas are alright, a little sparse sometimes on the toppings but the food comes out fairly fast. We had the nachos which was suitably loaded.

It's a bit of a puzzle for first timers trying to find the entrance but I guess it adds to the Footscray charm :)

A great addition to the inner west. Fun bar for drinks, but unfortunately had a terrible meal last time we went. Kransky Hot Dog was dry and tough and bread roll was STALE. Meaty toastie seriously tasted off. Have had pizza in the past and would definitely stick with that. Also the music choice was strange for an evening - kind of best 80s Rock and Easy Listening. If food picks up this will be a real treat.

The pizza is good and there are a few reasonably priced drink options. Footscray has long needed a place to get a fairly cheap beer. We will be back.

I work just around the corner from this place and my workmates recommended it. I went in last night and ordered the Forever Mushroom. The service was great and we got our pizzas quickly. They were yummy and bigger than we expected for $10, so overall it was good value for money. The place had a nice laid back atmosphere. I'm looking forward to going back sometime soon try more of the menu.
Thrice As Nice
Nice pizza bases that has actual flavor. Ordered the Baby Slice ) aka Hawaiian Pizza. I believe that if a place can get the simplest pizza right, then the rest that is on the menu should be great.

Pizza was nice. Only downside is the menu is too limited at this location compared to CBD joint. Will have to travel to city to try the prawn pizza.

Great addition to Footscray. You would not even know there was anything down the alleyway behind Conrads but it adds to the excitement of locating a gem down a lane way which is the epitome of Melbourne food scene.

Stay away from this place if you like fresh food
The All the TOASTIES are pre-made up to 5 days old

Tiny little downstairs joint in a Laneway off Moreland st, only three tables at the moment....it makes me very excited that they will be opening up there upstairs bar area that seats 100 mid February as the pizzas here are amazing, the staff are friendly and so helpful. I would say the mushroom pizza was the best I have ever had. Only went last night and I can't wait to go back. I'm actually reluctant to leave such a great review as they might get too busy.
Not My Bread And Butter
After seeing a photo on the Slice Girls West Facebook page, I had a serious pizza hankering. If you haven’t heard, the guys behind St Jerome’s Lane-way Festival opened their second branch of Slice Girls in Footscray a few month’s back. Wondering why you haven’t yet spotted Slice Girls West? It’s located in a warehouse, past a guard-cat, down a lane-way that runs at the rear of Conways Seafoods. It’s in the vicinity of the Footscray Community Arts Centre and the Milking Station. Inside you’ll find a rustic industrial/retro fit-out with rockabilly-styled staff. There are lots of reclaimed industrial pieces here like an old forklift and worn fence pailings used as panelling on the walls. There’s something of an American diner vibe too which is consistent with the menu.

I came here on Tuesday night with friends for a catch up. I loved it! The pizza was yum, and we were there on a 'tight arese tuesday' night so some of the range were only $10 although they are not that pricey anyway. it is only the downstairs section open at the moment, but soon the upstairs will be a bar. An awesome new addition to Footscray I expect it to be very popular! The decor is really cool and industrial (it is an old factory) and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

My only compaint is it was a bit hot downstairs but the fan was noisy..I am sure that this is a teething issue and some alternative will be looked at in the future once the business takes off.

Second time I've been here and the service has been great, they really take care of you and tentative on your needs. I've tried the zig-a-zag-ah and loved it! I am a spicy fan so try this if you can handle it. Pizzas are well priced and delicious. Given i live around the corner, i will definitely be back for more!

Thin crust, great size, fresh ingredients , awesome !!!! Nom nom nom pizza
And coffee beers etc quick service tucked away near the maribyrnong river great place to eat in or get takeaway

If you aren't looking out for Slice Girls West, it is easy to miss, with just the oversize street number and a few fairy lights marking it out from the other industrial looking units lining the narrow street running off Moreland Road near the Footscray Arts Centre. Right inside is the counter with coffee and cakes on offer in addition to the Pizza menu.

I'd heard about this place and decided to take my partner during her lunch break a few days after their official opening night. We ordered the Forever Mushroom pizza to share and I ordered the Kranski Dog. The dog itself was fantastic (one of the best I've had) although the roll could have been larger as it was difficult to hold it in and eat in a civilised manner. The Pizza ingredients are top quality and were cooked to perfection, the size of which was fantastic for the price and the base whoa it was delicious and one of the best i've had, even the latte we thought was one of the best we've had and I know my coffee! All topped off with great service too! Will def be a regular and so happy with the new choices opening up around gentrifying Footscray :)
