Review Tandoori Flames - Footscray

Sarah Leather
we dined in at Tandoori Flames along Barkly St in West Footscray. This restaurant has been renovated and reopened since May this year and has a sister establishment in South Kingsville which is also undergoing renovations,The fitout was done tastefully and was quite subtle and the restaurant felt roomy not squashy like some establishments we had passed on the way here. The far end of the room had well stocked bar with great potential for some excellent cocktails.

Food was too oily. It was disgusting. I'm Indian and i have my Australian friends with me. We have tried almost all the Indian Restaurants in Melbourne, even for them is way to oily and tasteless food. We rang the owner of the restaurant and they keeo saying it is garnished with butter but what joke. Ganishing doesn't mean this much of oily. That's why i would like to make a comment here because they don't really care about their customers. Most importantly they are expensive. Even good restaurants in this area like " Dosa hut" they are not that expensive and their food is lot more tastier than this. Now going to post the pictures of food they make.

This is surely one place in Melbourne that you CANNOT turn your back on. Tandoori Flames has not only raised their bar on providing exceptional mouthwatering food but maintaining this status time after time. We’ve tasted their food at dine in and their catering services and it’s very hard to distinguish the difference as we’ve got the same vibe at each instance. Jimmy/Deepti are amazing hosts and such down to earth people that they create a great ambience that one feels just special. We recently used their catering services and they did not let us down. The chefs produced some finger licking foods and our guests were very pleased with the service. Their staff are not only friendly but very cooperative. So we would like to thank you and your team for doing an exceptional job. This really goes to show that food is their Passion and not just a job! Well done team.

My partner and I ate at Tandoori Flames for the first time last night. Our waitress took really good care of us. The food came out super fast and it was absolutely delicious! To top the excellent service, our lovely waitress offered us a complementary dessert to share which was really nice of her not to mention really refreshing. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back soon.

One of my favorite places for Indian food. the curries are great and they taste unique with their special spice blend. the staff are attentive. service may lag a little during busy periods. plenty of different seating options for different size groups. clean and tidy place.
Before & After
Probably the worst Indian food i have ever had in my life!

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend when we were visiting from interstate - what a fantastic neighborhood gem! We did not book a table, but the staff were more than accommodating to us when we walked in for dinner one evening. I consider myself extremely fussy when it comes to Indian food, however this restaurant did not disappoint! The food was outstanding and some of the best Indian that I have tasted in a long time. The Rogan Josh was amazing - the lamb was very tender and the sauce was so flavoursome. It was served fresh and piping hot and tasted very authentic. The serving sizes were very generous that my husband and I couldn't finish all the meals we had ordered. The service was super attentive and friendly even though they were extremely busy that night. The waiter that served us was more than happy to answer and questions that we had. The food was bought out quickly and fresh. No request was considered too big. The restaurant appeared very clean and tidy. We loved this place so much, we ended up ordered takeaway a few nights later which was just as good! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Indian meal. I can't wait to go back if we are in the area again!

Just re-opened and is absolutely incredible. My new local, it was amazing butter chicken, the best in Melbourne. The owners are so lovely, as are all the staff. A really gorgeous outdoor area for function! The food was such good quality, nice place and definitely worth a try.

Pathetic food - devoid of flavour. Hariyali kebab was hard as a stone. I could not cut them with knife. Returned - no apology from the staff. <br/><br/>Paneer tikka had no flavour, no salt - no apology from the staff<br/><br/>Dal was only boiled and almost had no tempering, no taste - no apology from the staff<br/><br/>Found a human hair in the bread - no apology from the staff. At this point we left eating less than 10% of what we ordered.<br/><br/>Paid the full bill amount and left - no apology from the staff<br/>

After reading lot of good reviews, finally decided to try this place.<br/>Honestly couldn't be more disappointed with the food.<br/>Had ordered Tandoori platter.<br/>It was just some boiled chicken and some spices sprinkled on top.<br/>The only good was customer service.<br/>5 stars for customer service.
Foodie399
We came here for a very late dinner and glad they are open until 11pm! We were the only ones there but it's Tuesday so whatevs but their food is great! We ordered the chicken biryani and my husband really loved it and even said it tasted better than the ones we always visit back home in Auckland. I ordered the Indian butter chicken and I really enjoyed that one also. The price is not cheap so I was expecting rice to go with it so that was disappointing and chicken is not enough. 😩 I would still come back though 😀

Tandoori flames is a nice Indian restaurant located in West Footscray. We started our meal with spinach/kale pakora and tandoori prawns. They were both delicious and really got our appetite going. The prawns came on a hit sizzling plate which made the onion a little charred and gave it a really nice aroma. For mains, we had the butter chicken and lamb korma. The butter chicken has got to be the highlight of our meal. It was buttery, tasty and went really well with the naan bread and saffron rice.

Absolutely love the indian food at Tandoori Flames. The restaurant has a nice and modern decor and the staff is friendly.<br/><br/>We had the tandoori mix grill, butter chicken and a variety of roti and they were really yummy. Really enjoyed our meal here

We booked with the 50% discount thanks to The Fork, but it really wasn't great. The rice was cold, pani puri was stale, saag paneer was overly rich and probably used frozen spinach, the naan was paper think and burnt, and the aloo gobi was blackened beyond recognition. We won't be coming back.

Tonight we dined in at Tandoori Flames along Barkly St in West Footscray. This restaurant has been renovated and reopened since May this year and has a sister establishment in South Kingsville which is also undergoing renovations. <br/><br/>The fitout was done tastefully and was quite subtle and the restaurant felt roomy not squashy like some establishments we had passed on the way here. The far end of the room had well stocked bar with great potential for some excellent cocktails. <br/><br/>While we chose from the menu we ate light crunchy papadarms and a delicious mint dipping sauce.<br/><br/>I was driving so a mango lassi was as adventurous as I got tonight and Kellie enjoyed a kingfisher beer and eagerly awaited our feast. Cocktails seemed very affordable. <br/><br/>Our entrees came out with a serious sizzle as our mixed grill tikka platter arrived, complete with tender chicken tikka, delightfully lemony tandoori and smokey meats, wonderful flavour and textures. <br/><br/>Our Veggie samosa has a lovely pastry and interestingly the flavours of one was quite different to the other...more lemony and keeping us guessing. <br/><br/>After a pause we indulged our senses again in some curry delights. This time <br/>Saag paneer, Punjabi butter chicken, garlic & plain Naan and rice. <br/><br/>The Punjabi butter chicken was supposed to be a little spicier than your standard butter chicken but I ordered medium heat so didn’t notice much of a difference. That said this dish was melt in your mouth tender, sweet, with rich tomato, creamy and a nice spice without much heat at all. <br/><br/>The Saag paneer, another mild curry came with a firm cottage cheese and a purée of spinach. We enjoyed mopping up this curry with our naans and I loved combining both the sauces into a satisfying blend.<br/><br/>The night ended on a high, a sugar high that is as we couldn’t say no to the offer of dessert. I ordered the Shashi pistachio, this Kulfi with saffron and cardamom was super refreshing and was packed with a spectacular level of cardamom, a real winning dessert. We snuck a single Gulab Jamun doughnut in as well and loved this warm syrupy dumpling. <br/><br/>Such an enjoyable Friday night. Thanks so much for having us in

Very friendly staff, great food at fair price, clean and nice ambience

This place is very well fit out and the staff are extremely welcoming!<br/><br/>The fit out, furnitures and the level of service means the prices are scaled up a few notches. I didn’t mind that until...<br/><br/>We ordered the tandoori prawn. Costed $22.90 and guess what? 5 small prawns arrived with grilled onions and capsicums as accompaniments to fill up the plate. $22.90 for 5 prawns that weren’t even king prawns is a joke. We asked the waiter if this was a appetizer portion and not the mains that was ordered but he politely said no, much to my shock. <br/>I just wish I took a photo. I guess I was still reeling in the shock lol.<br/><br/>The butter chicken was delicious. Hats off to the naan breads as they were drenched in garlic and ghee, just the way I like it. The chicken briyani was average.<br/><br/>Wouldn’t return to this place for the mere fact that you feel robbed off. There are so many other indian choices in that same strip which will be better value for money.

Tandoori Flames should learn proper management for running a restaurant and events. we had a small function of 50 people which was to start by 12pm. We told them that we will reach by 11.30pm to decorate place. But the owner did not appear until 12pm. When we enter inside restaurant, it was smelling bad. The function room was dirty with dirty floors.<br/><br/>There was only one staff working who had been given unnecessary work pressure. I realise that they had inadequate staffs to handle a function properly.<br/><br/>Most of the glasses which we were given was not cleaned properly. Some of them still had lipstick marks in it. There was not proper management of food, hygiene and sanitisation. food was ok. if you want to exist in restaurant business, they need to learn lots of positive things from their rival restaurants like Aagan, Dosa Hut and Dosa Corner..<br/><br/>I hope owner will take my review positively to imrove their business in order to survive in competitive market of hospitality.<br/><br/>God bless these people and Good luck with their business.

Eatclub is just plain cheating. This place was great. Dahi Puri was nice. Crunchy with a hint of sweetness and a nice touch of spice.<br/><br/>The highlight was probably the naan. It was utterly basted in garlic butter (or ghee?), It was dinner licking delicious.<br/>Lamb vindaloo and butter chicken were good, not the best, but it's up there.<br/><br/>Extremely likely that I'll be back here again.
M_mcquinn_12
Had takeaway from here and it was OK - nothing special. The staff had forgotten to put my rice in the bag so I had to return to the store. Curry and naan lacked a little bit of flavour however the vegetable samosa was quite good. Probably will not return given the abundance of other decent options in the area

Really enjoyed my time at the recently renovated Tandoori flames. The staff were attentive and friendly. The flavours of the curries are quite refined and not too heavy. I’d recommend the Fish Malabar curry if you were dining here.

I came here for dinner on a Friday night.<br/>It was half full mainly with families.<br/>From walking in something was already amiss.<br/>The front of house was in disarray and not properly staffed.<br/>We were sat at a very small table crammed near the corner. Not even enough room to stretch backwards without hitting the person behind me.<br/>The constant flickering of a broken LED downlight left much to be desired. Fancy, I thought they had just re-opened.<br/>No serviettes or napkins on the table, no proper dining plates.<br/>The food was okay, nothing outstanding.<br/>All the food seemed like it was pre-cooked and reheated before serving. My lamb cutlet was more burnt than ones left unattended on a BBQ, over cooked and dryer than the Sahara.<br/>The garlic naan was tiny for the price you pay.<br/><br/>I'll be upfront here and say we came for the 50% off food bill promo. And we were utterly disappointed. The price of the food we had was barely worth what we paid it even at 50% off, so their standard price is way over priced.<br/>There are so many more options in the area. That I don't have any reason to return.<br/><br/>The hostess did not seem genuinely friendly, and you could feel that she did not know how to properly manage either.<br/><br/>Will not return.<br/><br/>

It just re-opened start of may 2019, absolutely can not rate high enough. Delicious good quality food! Absolutely best butter chicken I have had in Melbourne.<br/>Lovely lovely people and amazing food.

Avoid. Ordered takeaway by phone from here and was spoken to in an impatient manner - fine, it must be busy. Quoted a half hour wait, arrived half an hour later to an empty restaurant, paid, and waited a further 15 minutes before my takeaway was ready. On arriving home, many things were amiss. The biryanis had no yoghurt or peanut sauces, egg, onions or lemon like standard biryanis include. The chicken tikka (very dry) had four pieces when I had ordered six. Naan was extremely oily, lamb vindaloo and chicken tikka butter masala had very little meat in each serving and both were overly salty. Will not be returning.

Nice hot spicy Indian cuisine. Ambience was nice and staff was courteous. #BasilandGarlicNaan #AlooChat #MalaiMethiPaneer. It's a nice Indian place

Would recommend! Great service, great food, great prices. Clean and with a good location you will be happy you went. I will definitely be back!

Came to Melbourne for a business trip and the hotel recommended Tandoori Flames. What can I say the atmosphere, staff and food is amazing. Highly recommend to anyone who is after great food and awesome staff.

Well without much on an embarassment to Tandoori Flames, i am glad i ordered via delivery app and it saved me the horror of actually going to this place. The food ordered was chicken tandoori masala and naan. The food was essentially boxed and sent. The masala was essentially non-existent and there were 2 pieces of capsicum and onion. <br/><br/>I will never be able to walk through your doors again as your delivered food is a reflection of what you serve in the restaurant. I rather keep this short!!
Ryantownleyjones
Meh, ordered mixed vegetables, it was 90% carrot. Asked for spicy but this was too much (I know spice is subjective but not looking forward to egesturing the spicy carrot curry)

I went to Tandoori Flames with some friends recently and was so impressed by the service. Everyone was friendly and suggested some really great dishes for us to eat! I love love loved it! It was really clean and the atmosphere was literally so relaxing. I will definitely be going again

Tandoori Flames offered a good range of amazing food at an affordable price. The service was nothing short of perfect and I’ll be sure to return every time I’m in Footscray! 5 stars all around

My husband, he is really fond of spicy food. I told him the story of last get together with my friends. And he now told me to take him to the restaurant at any cost. We had lots of fun today. The tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, and lamb chops were amazing. I still remember it. Thank you tandoori flame for providing us such a great taste and cool environment. I will definitely recommend others to visit there.

Attended a function for approx. 150 guests and Tandoori Flames were the caterers.<br/><br/>The menu and the presentation of all dishes was great and delicious.. all the starters and main course were too good and tasty!<br/><br/>Chat papri was great.. cannot miss it!<br/><br/>Overall I enjoyed each and every dish.. <br/><br/>tangri kebabs, veg 65, chat papri, seekh kebab.<br/><br/>Highly recommended !!

I came here with some friends for a friends birthday party. The food was delicious and the staff were really friendly. I'll definitely be back again.

Tandoori Flame was one of the best experience of my birthday party I had.<br/> It may have taken a while to get to my mouth, but I've found the best paella on the planet." The dish that they served were awesome and very very tasty. The wait staff with their impressive behavior and extended service has won my heart. They were able to handle a crowd of 70 customers that arrived for my birthday party. With clean and green environment you can enjoy your cuisine. I request people to visit their once, and get the taste of varieties of foods such as Tandoori, Lamb Chop, Hot spicy soup.

We often go to Tandoori flames. Exceptional food quality and top notch staff service. We ordered butter chicken, lamb vindalo and chicken briyani. We loved the food and restaurant atmosphere, great taste with great service. Highly recommended for dinners and parties.

Stumbled on this restaurant during the Holiday Festival celebration. Food is very authentic. We were pleasantly surprised how delicious and authentic the food are. As a vegetarian, my husband had to eat my vegetarian rather than his favorite meat. But jusging from the food we ordered, I'm pretty sure the meats will be as good. We had Paneer Tikah, Samosa Chaat, Aloo Ghobi & Dhal with Butter Nan. And what is best to end with a heavy meal, their Masala tea is best. Totally recommended and will return with friends for a wider order of food.

Attended a buffet  wedding function here, so its difficult to gauge their standard table service and food. They do have booths and tables and looks very clean.Food was incredibly nice and authentically spicy  as the bride and groom were Indian.I only wish every place I went to had the flavor kick they served that evening. The rose water dessert left the best after taste for a good 45 minutes after we left. Such a memorable experience.<br/>If they replicate this when I'm next in  as an average customer they will get another .5 on their rating

I am not new to Tandoori Flames as I get take away all the time. My family and friends decided to dine in at Tandoori Flames on my birthday and we had such a gala time. There was a slight wait at the start because the restaurant was busy as usual. But the staff made sure our table was quickly ready for service with a smile on their faces. We were made to feel at home. The Dal Makhani and Methi Malai Matar are the best you will find in the whole of Australia. The Naan Breads were soft and delicious. Really top quality Indian food. Honestly there are not many Indian Restaurants in Melbourne that are SOO GOOD. We have now decided to visit the restaurant instead of getting take away because Tandoori Flames is like home now. Thanks guys for your amazing 5-Star service!! <br/>

Yummy Mushroom Tikka and Tandoori Prawns<br/><br/>It may have taken a while to get to my mouth, but I've found the Mushroom Tikka I had on Australia. I was tired of having fast foods during our vacation in Melbourne and fortunately, we found Tandoori Flames while my hunger was flaming inside my tummy.  When the plate arrived to my table, I was excited with its smell as it forced me to start eating. mm mmm. I cannot describe it in words.  It was so yummy and so tasty. Not a surprise that we had two plates. Tandoori Flames is in a great environment and staff is friendly. They have Menus to select our preference.  Prices are very fair compared to other places and it is really worth for  money we spent. We left the place to see them on the next day to try delicious Tandoori Prawns and Tandoori Vegetarian Platter. Thanks Tandooriflames. We love your foods. Hoping to see you see you guys soon in a day you have Bombay Night.

I was in footscray over the weekend and was invited to dinner at tandoori flames. <br/><br/>The food was the most authentic indian I've ever had, the staff were very courteous and a great help and the restaurant had a great atmosphere.<br/><br/>Next time I'm in Melbourne i will definitely make my way back to Tandoori Flames!

I was here two nights ago with friends who said it was the best indian food they had outside of india. We booked a table the night before and when we arrived it was all ready for us and the staff were so friendly too! We ordered the usual: Samosa chat, crispy and delicious, you can tell the chefs really care about there food when even the entrees are seasoned to perfection. Butter chicken, about the creamiest I've had and the panner tikka( a play on palak paneer) was AMAZING!!! Garlic nuns and rice all prepared to perfection as you would expect from a high quality Indian restaurant.<br/><br/>Thanks for the wonderful night and lovely food, see you agin soon

This place was fantastic. I went in on a busy night, thinking that it was unlikely that I would get a seat. But within two minutes, the staff had found myself and my fiancée a lovely table and were ready to take drinks. We started with the vegetable samosas and dumplings, and moved on to a beautiful chicken masala. The main was bursting with flavor, and was great value. Thank you very much Tandoori Flames for a wonderful meal!

I was here a week ago with my wife. They greeted us in with a smile and the ambience too felt just nice. <br/>We ordered Rogan Josh, naan and Dum biryani. I haven't had such a sumptuous dinner in a long long time. What I found surprising was that it was reasonably priced as well<br/>The staff were extremely polite which you don't get to see much these days. We had a lovely time in there. <br/>Nothing makes you happier than a good food eh ! <br/>One of my fav places to eat from now on !<br/>
Afrovegan
First thing first, what was the wait? 4 tables to serve yet it took two waitresses to come around! Mind you I've to wipe down the seats and was supposedly clean ready to go table. Secondly, why did it take soo damn long for food to come around? Thirdly, if you have vegetarian options, it isn't hard to turn it into the vegan option. So to recommend plain potato "aloo jeera" as the 2nd only vegan option is utterly deceiving when you state on your Zomato profile that you "have vegan options" not just two! Lastly if a customer order extras, it shouldn't be up to them to remind you that they're still waiting and are about to finish eating! Ooh it's not "complimentary" when that item was a nan bread that came out burnt and the customers were about to walk out!

Excellent service .yummy food .great ambiance .amazing belly dancer . had a wonderful time with my friends. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to organise a party.

20 people $34 per head banquet.<br/>The food was AMAZING!! Every dish delicious and plenty of it, generous portions. Restaurant lay out was basic but the service was attentive respectful and considerate. Everyone left full satisfied and eager to come back and try the ala carte menu. <br/>I highly recommend this restaurant and will go back and or order delivery.

One of the many Indian restaurants along Barkly street in West Footscray. A fair range of options with friendly and efficient service. We had the tandoori chicken masala curry, chicken madras, garlic naan and cheese naan to share. The meal was alright; nothing was awful and the dishes tasted alright. Nothing too significant to rave about though. Not much of an atmosphere while we were there, but may have been a quiet night

Discovered this awesome Indian restaurant by accident! Couldn't get a booking at a different restaurant so I went on Zomato to look for alternative place to dine. Tandoori Flames didn't have many recent reviews but most of the recent reviews were positive so I booked a table for two. <br/>I don't know why this restaurant wasn't fully booked on a Saturday night, because the venue, service and food were all amazing! <br/>Drinks are reasonably priced and BYO is $7 corkage. <br/>The restaurant is spacious, modern, and had a subtle fine dining feel.<br/>The service was lovely, our waiter was really nice and friendly. I got good vibes from all the staff, they made us feel very welcomed.<br/>Food: very good!! We ordered samosas, butter chicken, lamb korma (all mild), rice, butter naan and cheese naan. I literally mopped up every bit of sauce with my naan. The curries were delicious!!! Good portions and nice cuts of meat. The lamb was tender. <br/>I noticed that there are gluten free items on the menu as well. <br/>I'm so happy to find this restaurant that I can add to my list of local fav restaurants. <br/>If you're in the area or can't get a table at the other Indian restaurants nearby, definitely give this restaurant a try. I highly recommend it.

We had our son's first birthday here. Every thing was fantastic. Very professional staff, great food and decoration. Strongly recommended. Jimmy was very supportive throughout.

Amazing food and really really friendly service! The Chicken Methi dish was absolutely delicious, as well as the Lamb Rogan Josh. We dined with a baby (who of course left a mess) and the mother offered to clean up the floor afterwards but our server was so friendly and said it was not a problem at all. Will definitely be back here!

UPDATE: The restaurant has since been in touch, apologised profusely, offered a generous recompense, and said the staff member I spoke to twice has been reprimanded. I have therefore decided to re-colour my review with that in mind.<br/><br/>However, 2 hours 45 minutes is still not an acceptable wait... even in light of a Menulog system problem. I ordered at 6:25pm. My SMS confirmation said it would arrive at 7:37. I called at 7:50pm and was told 15-20 minutes and that it was on the way. I live 1km away and by 8:45 my food still had not arrived. I called back and again received no apology. My food arrived at 9pm.<br/><br/>I all honesty, I must admit that the Dal Makhani (which I ordered hot) was very good - not the best I've had, but very good. The Saag Gosht was also very good, with a better quality of meat than received from many other places. The Vegetable Samosas were also very good, particularly the delicious sauce they came with. The Vegetable Manchurian is also very nice!

Wow that's the only word after having dinner. The only best place to have a good food and service with nice environment in Melbourne <br/>Nice waitress and beautiful food with authentic flavours....we'll back soon.super happy with this place.<br/>Worth cuming here even after 2 hrs drive
Nafel_2007
Quick delivery. Ordered some food for delivery and specified "Extra mild".. However the food came very spicy and mushy as it was some leftovers heated up in a microwave.. The only positive point was that i got my delivery 20 minutes after ordering.. Maybe they shoul have take more time for a better quality.
Anagh
Fantastic food, great delivery service. I ordered for chicken biryani, veg biryani, seekh kababs and paneer tikka for a house party for 20 people and everyone loved the food. The seekh kababs dissapeared within 5 mins and the Biryani had people licking the plates clean. The owner jimmy is nice to speak to and very professional. Everyone kept asking where I got the food from. Overall very satisfied and happy - will be dining in the next time.

Excellent Indian food. As a lover of Indian food, this restaurant was recommended to us, it did not disappoint, The 4 of us shared 3 entrees, 3 mains plus rice, raita and 4 breads, everything was absolutely delicious and came out quickly, definately no taste of commercial pastes here.<br/><br/>We had tandoori mushrooms, clay oven lamb and large mixed platter, akl delicious and the lamb was to die for, the mains were equally as good, the service fast and attentive, will be back again to try more dishes<br/><br/><br/><br/>ly be back again

A great place for groups. I had a group of about 20 people and they went above and beyond to make sure that everything went smooth. Great prices, great food, great staff. Highly recommended

Suprisingly awesome!. I recently moved to West Footscray so have been trying all the local restaurants. I used to live near Tandoori Flames in South Kingsville and never thought much of it, but regardless decided to give the West Footscray branch a shot.<br/><br/>I have now had takeway from here twice, and then ate in the restaurant last Friday. On all occasions the food has been superb, except for one starter of lamb which was a little dry by the time I got to it (takeaway). My favourite has been the chicken kolapuri which I have now had twice, and their dhaal makhani was also fabulously creamy and tasty. The naan is different to most places and is a little dense, which I actually quite like. The chilli paratha was ok but a little dry.<br/><br/>The restaurant itself is brand new, clean and the service is excellent. Both staff who assisted us were very friendly and everything was on time and to order. I have actually now relocated my birthday dinner from a famous and very good restaurant down the road, to Tandoori Flames, as I think it will be less busy but still great.<br/><br/>Definitely recommend giving this restaurant a go.<br/><br/>Oh, and I did BYO on my visit and had no issues with licensing or anything so that must have been an opening glitch.

Last night which is on monday..I had dinner with my friends in tandoori flames west footscray. That was my first visit and want to try their food.We dont know how to start with, the waitress over there recommended some dishes to us.The food was really good and impressive, especially the tandoori items are wonderful. The food was very tasty and I will let know my friends as well.Feeling like why did I missed such a wonderful restaurant these days.

Food lover. The atmosphere is outstanding as you will never have the opportunity of eating Tandoori flame butter chicken is awesome and methi malai paneer soo good , mix grill is excellent , service was good and the food is outstanding, I will be back any time

Belly flop. Fine dining atmosphere with snooty service to match.<br/>While I'd normally never tell anybody how to do their job, after waiting ten minutes, I had to instruct the wait staff to bring some menus, and again later to take our orders. There was another lengthy delay in delivering the food to the table. I've ordered home delivery from other places with greater efficiency (And better service). I assumed the delay was because the food was being prepared fresh but.. was more than a little disappointed. There's better butter chicken in the area. But it wasn't all bad. The belly dancer, unlike the wait staff, was punctual, friendly, and knew how to do her job. Very entertaining

SLOW and negligent customer service. I came to this restaurant last night with a mate as we were impressed by how it looked inside. It wasn't overly busy so we had no issues getting a table. <br/>When we were seated the waitress walked away and we assumed she was getting us the menus, but no. We waited for our menus but all the waitresses were too busy that it was near impossible to get their attention. Finally after 20 minutes we finally did get their attention, and we asked for the menus (as did the couple sitting next to us).<br/>That couple next to us ordered just before we did but received their first meal AND their second meal before we even received our FIRST. We ordered just one main each at 7:45pm. We saw the couple next to us eating their first meal and then their second meal came out before we had our first. <br/>By 8:45pm the waitress came out and asked us if we had eaten and we said we were still waiting, and so she immediately brought out our DRINKS which would typically come out right after ordering. Then FINALLY just after 9pm the food came out. We were both expecting it to be mind blowing after such a long wait, but unfortunately it was just average. We both had the butter chicken with naan bread and saffron rice. I don't even think my chicken was even fully cooked through.<br/>They were friendly, particularly the man (I'm assuming he's the owner?), but it was a very disappointing night. They offered us dessert but we didn't want to wait another hour for that. The best thing about the night was watching the belly dancer. She was very good. <br/><br/>My only regret was that we actually paid so much for a lousy service. Never again!

Worst service ever & not licensed. Very unimpressed overall. The service was sooooo slow, food mediocre. It took an hour for our order to arrive & the last item the waitress delivered to our table was the rice 10 minutes after everything else. Had to ask for our bill 3 times & finally had to stand at the cash register to get attention in order to finally leave. In addition Tandoori Flames West Footscray is not licensed so the byo I have come along with was put out in the kitchen. Had to ask for it back another 3 times & then go to the counter near the kitchen myself to get my wine back. I will NEVER be going back!

Crash and Burn. I REALLY wanted to like Tandoori Flames but I was disappointed - my takeaway butter chicken was so salty I had to mix some Greek yoghurt into the sauce to make it edible. If they can't get butter chicken right then I don't think I'll be trying anything else. Sigh - the search for good Indian in the Sunshine / West Footscray area continues : (

Hidden gem on Barkly street, West Footscray.. We had a very pleasant dining experience at Tandoori Flames with friends. The menu is not extensive, but what we had was very good. The servings are not overly large so you can tend to over order without having too much left over.<br/>at the same time indian restaurants have their own take on the traditional dishes and specials, but Tandoori Flames served something surprising that we had never experienced and it was delicious. The service from start to finish was excellent, the tastes of the food were stunning. we have been to many indian restaurants all over the Melbourne and this is the best we have had in Melbourne.

Delicious indian - possibly the best on Barkly. We have been trying lots of the Indian joints take-away on Barkly street since moving here and Tandoori Flames has been consistently delicious. The Veg Navratam is really good as are the naans.

RMIT Newintstudents was a guest of Tandoori Flames. All thoughts are their own Tandoori Flames has been opened for a few months now. There is one in Kinglake, Yarraville and now one in Footscray. Here I was met by one of the workers who said that the owner was not well. So he didn't make it. However the worker was very friendly and answered all of my questions well. Light- look at all the jewels. It reminds me of a palace The ones that were there was us. For the most of the time people book for dinner rather than lunch as they are only really opened for dinner every night and lunch during the weekends. They are on the busy Barkly st, but on the side where all the houses are. It is about a ten minute walk from the West Footscray station and a one minute walk from the bus stop. Love all the Indian decorations Elephants For those that prefer delivery they have this service via Menulog where if you opt for pick up and order more than $50 worth of stuff you'll get a $10 discount. The menu is extensive - featuring a whole range of Indian dishes from distinct regional influences and tandoori specialties such as lamb seekh kabab out of their charcoal clay oven tandoor.
