I had my meal delivered by UberEats for lunch. The meal was fresh and had a wonderful flavour. I have only eaten pho at Vietnamese restaurants but this was delicious! It is on my list of places I would like to try in person. I ordered the Special Rice Vermicelli, the pork egg rolls were the best part in it. If you love pork and noodles, this is the dish to try!

We ordered the dry noodles and rice vermicelli dish. The vermicelli is delicious and the grilled pork that comes with it is crispy grilled and tasty. The dry noodles are great and leaning towards the sweeter side. The meat slices are also not as dry as other shops'

DO: The noodles, it's their speciality. I liked the dry noodle with pork chop and spring rolls. Parents enjoyed the "wet" noodle special combination.

DON'T: Like noodles? Then order the combination pork rice.

TIP: Smash a Vietnamese Iced coffee whilst you're waiting.

My favourite place to go for chicken drop noodles (banh canh ga) it's the only place that offers these noodles with chicken that I know of. Tasty soup and I just love the texture of the noodles! I think it only costs 10$ too - best value. Recently refurbished the place too so it looks a lot cleaner.

The food was alright, the service was great. It was very clean and the atmosphere felt great. I finished my food and it was probably the first time I finished this dish. It was awesome. I don't mind coming back

Tra Vinh does absolutely delicious Viet food - this is probably because they've has been around for a good number of years. I can't fault the food here but the lax service from the owner does take some getting use to.

The place is filled with Vietnamese on a Saturday lunchtime, and coupled with the no-frills decor, you know you're in for some authentic flavours.

The Hù Tìêu as others have said is a beautiful dish. Got the soup version which was filled with a heap of surprises throughout: some pork crackling here and there, a deep fried pastry, prawns, liver (from what I remember?), and fresh bean sprouts. Really refreshing change from your standard bowl of phó. Other dishes are also great. Had some bun and pork on broken rice.

Definitely recommended.

Just to give it a go instead of going to the old school favourite over at Dinh Son Quan, we thought why not and we weren't disappointed. It was actually pretty good although why should we be disappointed, it was full of locals who appeared to not speak a lick of english.

Tra Vinh didn't have any straight egg noodle soup dishes and they didn't seem to understand a word I was saying so ended up just pointing at Hù Tìêu mì tôm thìt khô which was a rice and egg noodles with prawn and pork soup $10.0 along with the fresh coconut juice $4.0. Tried a few other things also and finished with an iced coffee too.

Decor is pretty dated but I guess it made the experience more authentic. This along with the service which wasn't too bad despite the miscommunication issue.

We weren't thinking of making a return but it was worth a taste. We at least will know what else is available should our favourite Dinh Son Quan shuts up shop. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!

Tra vinh is my haunt for quick, no nonsense quality cheap eats.

Their strengths are one of two things: hu tieu in soup or hu tieu dry (not in soup). There are no other eateries I have tried in Melbourne or Sydney or Vietnam or Auckland that makes hu tieu like at Tra Vinh.

Other things on the menu are so good, but their Hu Tieu is the star of the show. Their ca phe Sua da is also one of the best ones in town, made the traditional way of steeping their grind in hot water. Their beans are sourced from the footscray market and they make their own blend. They use nestle condensed milk, not inferior brands.

I go there so often I have an "open tab". No money? It's ok, you pay us next time. 😃

Someone commented about the hygiene - sure the shop needs a good scrub, but I've been frequenting is place every week, sometimes multiple time a week when I am desperate, for about 20 years. I live to write a review on Zomato.

It's definitely the most authentic Vietnamese restaurant for all types of noodles. The name of the store is base on the small province of South Vietnam. We've tried the Tra Vinh Noodles and it's broth is amazing. Very deep, tasty and full of flavor. For those who concern it might be salty, it's not salty at all. As the person who grew up with South Side Vietnam food, i've to say this restaurant is very authentic. Besides that, the black Vietnamese coffee is very good too. It's made by hand with phin filter, not from machine. Totally recommend.

This place looks like they could use a reno, but their food is so good and cheap!! The hu tieu with fried chicken is so good for $10...are you kidding??? Their complimentary soup is so tasty as well, only down side is their main customer service dude was born with attitude which can get annoying at times, other then that this place is great for JUST food and when your done walk straight across the road for 2minutes and you'll find a little sugarcane shop to rinse the mouth and ofc for the drive/walk home!

Another place that has been around for as long as I can remember. I always come here for the Com Tam (broken rice with spare ribs) and it never disappoints. Nothing really else to say other than it has pretty decent rice dishes at a reasonable price.

There are plenty of places to eat in the west, so a lot of people tend to overlook Tra Vinh. This visit actually made us realise that they don’t even have pho on the menu. But that’s not what this place is good for!

Vietnamese Done Right.. Cannot fault any dishes served here.
Hands down the best place for Vietnamese food.
Must haves: Com tam (broken rice), hu tieu mi tom thit (dry rice + egg noodle w/ pork and prawn)
If you look past the rundown decor, you will discover Footscray's hidden gem.

Yummmmm and addictive!!!. This is one of my favourite restaurant in Footscray and whenever I'm around the area, I would usually give this place a good. Been a loyal customer of this place for like 10years? I think.

My most favourite dishes will go to the wonton egg noodles soup and the vietnamese broken rice dish.

Service wise: odd slowness here and there, give 2/5
Food: Nice enough for me to keep coming back years after years. 8/10

Definitely recommend.

Authentic Vietnamese meals. Restaurant has the traditional Vietnamese noodle shop feel but is very clean. Menu is small which is a good thing. The broken rice was nice, pork chop was a tad on the tough/dry side but flavours were good, covered in lemongrass. Hu tieu was good, not as saucy as others but some people may prefer that. Good portion size and cheap. $15pp including drinks and shared entree (spring rolls)

The old guy is back! After retiring for two years, he's back on the front line running the restaurant. The food, service and general character and ambience of the restaurant slipped while the kids were managing the restaurant, but the world is as it should be with the oldies back onboard. It didn't help that customers deserted Footscray when the Little Saigon centre burnt down. The area never gained the traction that it once had, but we remained loyal and devoted to Tra Vinh, though there was a time when even we had to look for alternatives. We didn't find it. Since our life is dictated by my cravings, husband and I visited Tra Vinh on the weekend for hu tieu and found the store to be a buzz of activity. With the oldies back onboard, the hu tieu mi was delicious and the atmosphere was great with the old guy screaming orders at the kitchen and the kitchen screaming back LOL!!! Never change again Tra Vinh. — May 2019 Update Store has been closed since my review. It seems it’s been unattended to as opposed to shutting down. Head to Tra Vinh St. Albans instead. The old owners are running the St. Albans store.

Best bánh canh (Drop noodle soup) in Melbourne! The broth is very tasty and has wonderful smell. Highly underrated.

I had the vietnamese salad with pork and salad. I found this place to be good with the food if you don't want a lot of service.
