Review Chain Chain Hotpot - Footscray

Fiyomi Pigera
We went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary with our extended family, had 9 adults and few kids, they were able to fit us in one table and we had a great experience. Food were fresh and soups are really tasty. Had unlimited flow of meat. Worth the money and would visit again if we go back to Melbourne and recommend anyone without hesitation. Good service and kids enjoyed the time too.

Me and my other half Iove it here. Staff are super friendly, food is delicious and plentiful, we only eat the prawns from the seafood plate so they are kind enough to just give us loads of prawns instead ❤ We are never rushed out even though we spend a good long evening in here. Keep up the good work, you have two loyal customers here.

$35 all you can eat steamboat. There are not a lot of variety of food to pick, although they givr a small plate of seafood per individual. Plus point: it's fun to pick single serving from the convayer belt. There are 5-6 types of soup base to pick (spicy, tom yum, mushroom, cant remember the rest) . You get your own pot, so cook whatever your heart content.

Great atmosphere, music is good. Restaurant is clean, great variety of meat, seafood amd vegetables. Will definitely come here again. Kids need to check height for pricing. My 11yr ol is about 160cm and was charged as an adult

Worth the money , the seafood was that fresh , but ok with the price, you could ask more if you finished. Student have 10%discount show your student card

My friend and I ordered lunch buffet, instead we got this. We can’t choose what we want to eat. And we feel guilty that not finishing the food in the plate. I don’t know what they are going to do with the food we can’t finish. The lady served us is very rude.

We visit first time on Saturday lunch. The staff kindly asked us if we’ve been here before. She explained where to get self service items & food. It was kind service. We really enjoyed all food. Just one thing if we can ask to improve . The drink cups . They are too soft material. I had to hold carefully not spill out. But overall, good experience. I love simple desert after finished meal. Thank you for providing great service

Affordable eat all you can hotpot.
Harry Truong
Not very hygienic way of eating hotpot. Everyone take food from the same plate. Staff were pissed that we take the plate and yet no where instructions were advised. Staff did not provide water refill when asked. Food is average.
Gigi
The soup of crab , Tom yum and spicy are pretty good. It was quite valuable to try this restaurant. The service of all the waiters there are extremely perfect, because we are the first time and they are quite patient to explain the processing there. The barbecue is included in the buffet and that was so delicious too. However, the good service is exceeded from the quality of food, will come back again
Dumba
Good value for money with a lot of variety. Buffet not only includes hot pot but also grilled meat, done to order. Oysters are nice. Seating around the food train is a bit cramped.
Ngọc Bảo
25 mins waiting time for beefsteak. The beefsteak came out without pate which said to be included in the menu. Meat ball was too salty. when the staff was asked why there wasn’t pate in the meal. He said that no pate for beefsteak. I pointed to the menu and he said he would ask the kitchen but he never came back. When we paid, he showed his attitude and didn’t even say sorry. Such a waste of time and money.
Thao Huynh
Very disappointed they advertised as all you could eat buffet, I felt greatly upset to realise you only get one oyster, one prawn, one abalone and one scallop, everything else all you could eat. Bbq meat wasnt great, and most other food choices was frozen meat ball, dumplings and vegetables. Wasnt the same management as previous.

I LOVE IT! It gave a lot of option and it was really good.
The staff were super friendly and asked if we wanted extra food.
There was so much options, I had a hard time leaving.
Recommend 10/10
Nick Nierxen
Food wasn't fresh, you can tell it right away by the quality of some vegetables, the seafood. I choose the super spicy which is good actually. Then we asked for the bbq, we waited for around 20-25 min and still served raw chicken, i got bad stomachache now, i would come just for the soup, but nothing else that makes me want to come here

We went here over the weekend since we were down that way. Pretty decent hot pot place, can’t fault it. Biggest pro it’s the first place to ever offer you self serve bubble tea 👍
Tommylicious
Surprisingly pretty good. I always see it empty during the day but this place is a hidden gem. Nice design. Great broth. Serving size isn’t big but small enough so you enjoy drinking the broth.
Florence
Beautiful broth and selections but was disappointed at how unclean restaurant is to basic cleanliness with benches and toilets and quite messy
The Honest Glutton
Decided to try this hotpot place after being recommended by a friend.

The broths are really nice here. I got the super spicy which was really hot, so I asked them to fill it with more water which made it more edible for me.

The selection of food was okay. But I think there could have been a lot more balls on the rotary.

They have a milk tea and dessert section which was really tasty.

But the service was quite bad though. My friend ordered bbq but it never came so we didn’t bother.

My other friends who were there didn’t have their other dishes come out too and had to ask twice for it.

Work on the service and the food selection and it would be a lot better
Thu Tran
All food are frozen. Vegetables look dirty. Choices are limited. Only two prawns for each person. I asked for more beef and prawns but they said that’s all they can provide. Can this be called buffet? Never come back again

Delicious broth - Definitely would recommend the Tom Yum!
Everything came out so fast and was delicious. The staff were also so nice to us especially not being of Asain background they really helped us understand the process and answered all our question. Was great!
Stelly
A nice place for all you can eat hot pot. I like the concept of a train hot pot, it’s very entertaining. Dishes were constantly being topped up on the train which was good to see. The Tom yum soup base is one of their popular ones and it’s quite good! It’s $25pp for lunch on weekends which I think is a decent deal. Definitely ate heaps!
Thuy Trang
Today, I and my friends just tried the buffet hotpot for lunch. Both of them tried Tom yum soup base and that was pretty good. If you like the sweet and sour taste with a little bit spicy, I highly recommend this flavour. My soup base was super spicy. That’s suitable for someone who likes and can eat really spicy. For me, that was actually good too. Meats and veggies were refilled quick and regular, and they were quite fresh. The desserts were quite rich such as Thai sweet grual, jelly, hot tofu with ginger syrup, ice cream and fruits. $25/person for lunch, that’s a reasonable price for me.
Serve quite well and wholeheartedly.
Winter is coming, if you are looking for a cozy place with delicious food and reasonable price, then the Chain chain is a good choice.

I came to here this noon and asked the hotpot buffer but the waiter said they don’t offer buffet today without reasons…no happy with that...
Melbourne Foodie
Went for lunch and wasn't too busy.
Selection of food on offer was great. Previously was given a plate with more seafood however the amount has now reduced.
Dessert was also great.
Felt waitress wasn't too happy when we initially requested a particular seat at the belt to the ones she offered. But otherwise enjoyable

Food: 4/5
Service: 2.5/5
Ambiance: 3/5
Yuii Hoang
The service was very friendly and nice which was the start of the night. We had a birthday party and made lots of noises and mess yet they’re still very nice. Wonderful service!
Franco Cozzo
The food selection and quality is amazing and the flavours in the soup base are so good
Best hot pot I’ve found in Melbourne
Would def recommend
Tran
Tomyum soup base was good. Decent service
Good variety of food on the train to choose from, which i was really happy with.
Nice how it comes with a plate of seafood also.
Satisfying experience whenever i come here really.
Big Boss
Very satisfied with the hotpot buffet here, I came with my co-mates. There was variety of seafood, meats, a real Chinese hot pot place. The seafood were fresh and nicely displayed. I must say $25 per person deal for lunch buffet is a total steal!! The staffs were always up for a refill when ever you need. And there was variety of soup based option as well. Will definitely come again for sure 💖

Great customer service and good hot pot in Footscray. Been there with friends and everyone is so happy, fun and very full. Recommend for big group or party.

Chain Chain hotpot is THE best hotpot my friends, family and I have ever ate at. We have ate at various hotpots across Melbourne but Chain Chain is by far the most affordable, with a great set up and variety of foods (including fried rice, chicken wings and unlimited bubble tea!).

They have excellent customer service and are willing to take on customer feedback and incorporate suggestions. Chain Chain is constantly trying out new things and have recently set up a BBQ station with a chef.

Always our go-to place to eat out, any day of the week. Definitely recommend it!
Kim Dim Sim
We had all you can eat hotpot here today. There were m a variety of vegetables and choice of milk tea with pearls, which was different to other places. However hesistant service on refills. When we ordered a second serving of prawns, management even said there will be a surcharge even though that was not stated anywhere on their ad. I won't be returning here, sorry.

Came here on new year eve with family who have never been to a hot pot restaurant. I booked ahead knowing it would be busy. We were greeted by friendly staff who showed us our seats, soup choices and showed us what to do! The tall guy wearing glasses has the best customer service even when it’s busy. So accomodating.

Everything was fresh and tasty. They even had salmon! I really liked the meat balls, tendon, tripe and giblets etc. There is complimentary spring rolls, fried chicken, fruit and desserts. The fact the complimentary things taste good im really impressed. They put effort into it.
There’s Bubble tea, tofu dessert, lychee jelly, bean dessert, ice cream and che. The che was sooo good. It had so many ingredients in it and isnt so sweet. I would go back just for that haha.

Only tiny thing is it would be nice if they provided flask of tea at night also because when you eat desserts it’s nice to have tea

Would definitely take family and friends here.
Thai Phan
This place was pretty good! They offer beef, lamb and pork as well as a bunch of seafood options. There are lots of options for vegetarians as well.
Sue Wong
Individual hot pot, all you can eat and ingredients parade past you on a rotary belt? No brainer really - do it!
There is another rotary hot pot in the area but I would always choose this one due to the cleanliness, tasty mushroom broth and a decent array of ingredients. Pro tips: pace yourself and try to book a table if you’re planning on going for dinner.

I came to Australia 8 years ago bur I have never found a better Hotpot chain than this one. You should come and try this. I came for the seafood especially, everything is very fresh. 10/10
Jenny
Just like sushi train, but for hot pot and all you can eat. Flavorful broths, never an empty plate on the conveyor and so many options! Each get a seperate pot. Love that they offer desserts as part of the buffet and sweet drinks.
Jessica Cumine
Unfortunately I was just in awe of the food trains that were passing me that I didn’t even think to take photos of the food in front of me and just dug in! So you’ll have to trust my words

The endless amount of food that passes on the trains is just great. Such a variety of fresh meat, vegetables, seafood and tofu. The soup choices are also flavoursome and wholesome.

For $33 per person it’s an absolute steal and the service is good too, a little improvement but nothing crazy.
Andres Felipe López González
Chain Chain is a Great place. Tasty food, friendly staff nice music. The food is fresh and you can take all you can eat for 25 bucks p/p. Totally recommended!
Zoe Holding
Fun build your own soup, all you eat off a train in front of you kind place. Hard to describe! Great fun place for family dinners. I love all the condiments and herbs you can add to really adjust the soup to your own preference. I found staff were great both times I’ve been there.
Joshua Cumine
The atmosphere was quite opening and relaxing, the playlist was on point & food was a fun topic as all hot pot destinations usually are & the staff were friendly & genuinely invested. Restaurant isn’t the easiest to find & the time you’d spend their wouldn’t be the shortest due to meal prep etc. but if you do enjoy hot pots & and happen to be in Footscray with some time on your hands, you should definitely check it out. Would recommend.
JimJoe
I have come to this restaurant twice and found the soup base to be ok, but the selection of food was very limited. The first time was ok as there were covers on all of the food and were on separate dishes. On the second time visiting, I think food hygiene standards could be better as some of the food on the carousel looked to be quite old with no covers on them making the food dry. There was food that tasted off as well. Tongs are used to grab the food from the plates on the carousel and also used to dip the food into your hotpot soup, its like sharing the hotpot soup you have with others. I saw that the little amount if food that is left over at the end of the day on the carousel is put away and reused for the next day. I feel that the quality has dropped and will never come back again.

My fave hotpot place. I've taken friends and family here multiple times. Everything here is so good! I always get the plain stock and add whatever sauces in as I want! Always get the unlimited spring rolls -SO GOOD. The staff are always friendly!
Waverly
I didn't book the table in advance so the waiting was pretty long.
I choosed the tom yum soup base, not very spicy or sour but good in overall.
Seafood was frozen but still ok and worth the money. There was no limited time and you can keep refilling the soup base.
Dessert is traditional from Vietnam and pretty good. Customer service was awesome. Manager is so attentive.
Will be back to satisfy my hot pot craving.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.
Cosy and friendly hot pot, self service, good range of selection. Also provide deep fry spring roll, fry rice, 2 different desert, ice cream... excellent value for money and had been there a few times.

If you are craving East Asia hot pot, I would recommend this place. A reasonable price for all u can eat with good "Che" dessert. This place has a large variety of veggie, which is a huge plus compare to many other Asian hot pot restaurant. The broth sweetness taste a bit of MSG but really flavourful and there are also bunch of options to choose from.
Anh Hùng Bùi
Their vegies are on point. Good variety of food which is the most important thing in an all-u-can-eat place.
The bonus is they have the most prettiest staffs among footscray's retaurants.
Lilly Fān
When I first came here,I didn't expect it to be that good
But it turned out to be great experience in terms of soup base taste and variety of food selection with reasonable price for buffet.
Really love the desserts here as they are quite unique from other restaurants that I have tried
The atmosphere is nice but it needs to improve a little bit regarding to decoration
Staffs are super nice and friendly
Definitely come back
Highly recommended

This would a very good alternative for those who want to enjoy all-you-can-eat hotpot with reasonable price (actually cheap) and still don't have to go too far from the city.
I've been to several hotpot restaurants as I'm a hotpot addict myself and I wouldn't say that this is a top-notch place for hotpot. However I still give them a 4.5 rating based on my positive and pleasant experience. Ordered Tomyum soup and was happy with it, not too sour or not too sweet and can still leave room for some sauces to go with. The food selection could have been more diverse but it had everything I needed. Vegetables were fresh. Had some interesting hotpot toppings that I haven't found in other restaurants and they were surprisingly good.
Fruit juices for 5$ (!), so amazingly cheap but it tasted so fresh and it was not from the juice bottle at all (like some other stores). I had apple juice and was very satisfied with my juice. On top of that I tried the sweet dessert and no wonder everyone came here for it. A light and delightful dessert that (in my opinion) is the best option for a full meal of hotpot. Has a bit of durian unique taste in it so I must say its kinda addictive. I wish they sold them as takeaways. But other than that they also have bubble tea and fruits (didnt try but my friends said bubble tea was good too). So overall a pleasant experience. Of course there's always room for improvement as I would recommend the restaurants to add more toppings, perhaps better lighting in store, etc. I would come back again to have a better view but so far everything has been good.

We ate here a few nights ago, it was okay, but it’s far from the best place you could go. Everyone is on the hot pot game and this place is the one place I wouldn’t return to. When we arrived there appeared to be a strange smell in the restaurant they serve seafood I thought nothing more, we were greeted with lovely service, and ordered the soup base and drinks promptly. Items on the train appear to sit there for a very long time, the sliced meat takes not a long time to defrost but it certainly isn’t defrosted at other places while going around the train. All sliced meats on this occasion were all completely defrosted. After being there for 20minutes or so I started to notice that most of the items themselves had a bit of a funny smell which is an indicator of things not being fresh. My first thought was just on the seafood may have been a little off being that seafood can be a highly risky item to eat at restaurants like this I mean there’s a risk in any form of seafood especially if it’s sitting out during service I know all about the 2 hour 4 hour rule when it comes to food safety I understand but I think maybe this time round something could have been very close to being on the way out. However in saying that I realised it was all items they were serving on this occasion that all appeared to have a smell.
My partner and I have been crook the following 3 days afterwards, my partner worse than myself as he likes to eat all the bits and pieces especially seafood. I think once the seafood was sitting under my nose I told my partner I think we should leave based on that seafood wasn’t okay. Could have been worse.
Some of the reviews on here are good so it may have just been a complete off day I’m not sure but we certainly wouldn’t come back here I’d rather drive all the way to Richmond or city or even just down the road to St. Albans I’ve never been crook from any of those hot pots.

Service: good
Soup base: good
Food: didn’t stay down long enough to satisfy
Seafood: don’t eat unless I’m at home
Atmosphere: needs some work with the decor

Better safe than sorry.

Foodielover
Went there friday night and found the place to be empty. Staff let us wait there for 10 mins and i was super hungry. The food is just lying there spinning around without any cover that really put me off. It doesnt really look very fresh and seems like being there for all day. Not going back there again
Rocky Shen
A good hot pot restaurant. Nice food and customer service. The place is nearby station so it is convenient to be here to get a nice experience
Jack Liu
Probably the best hotpot in the western suburb. I have been here for few times. The foods and services are good. I extremely love the sauces.
Ai Huynh
The price is reasonable for a hotpot buffet with a wide selection of soup base and fresh food. I personally prefer Tom Yum. I have no complaints for the services, the boss she is really nice. Especially desert and sweets are tasty. Basically I come here every week to keep warm this winter, and importantly for milk tea and desserts. Must come place in this winter. Super recommended.
Honestfoodie
I have been to chain chain before and it was good but today I have to leave a bad review. I went there with friends and we all ordered tom yum soup. They aren't tom yum taste at all but salty broth. Also there wasn't any meat plates on the rotary, for the whole meal we could only take 2 plates. So we decided to order directly from the staff and then after a while more meat came out when we already finished eating. There wasnt any bubble milk tea as advertised. Ice cream is very hard to get. The only thing I would be happy about is the friendly staff who look after the customers but not the management in the kitchen. Wont come back for a while
Thunder8621
A reasonable cheap eat in the Western suburbs, one that you would otherwise have to drive/park in the city for. Food is 3/5 so not amazing, but matches the pricing/value 4/5 and fairly friendly service 4/5. Will return.
Carla Reyes
Had hot pot buffet for the first time with friends and family. its $25pp for buffet lunch between 11-3pm. We had no booking. 9ppl.We were served as soon as we walked though the door, and seated shortly after. There was an abundance of food! Seafood, meat, lamb, noodle and veg assortment. The only reason why it loses half a point, is due to long wait time for them to set up the buffet table for us, and took a while to wait on extra meat, although it wasn't toooo long, but just broke the seamless part of the dining. Overall, everyone was full and happy, staff were friendly, well priced for what you get, and we'd all definitely return for another meal!
Daniel
Nothing really amazing about this hotpot joint. The soup base was good, but the selection of dishes could have been better. A nice touch to have a small plate of frozen seafood given to us, but it would have been better if it was unlimited on the train. Service was mediocre, the table I sat at was icky, but generally a good place for family gatherings.
Winter
Went there on Friday night, 9pm. Barely any customers as might be late for dinner, nonetheless the service was slow and waitress didn't notice or bother to attend to us. Food was below average. Went to pay and again they didn't bother looking at us, made us wait to even pay?! Never coming here again.
Tien Nguyen
Oh gosh they have the most authentic “tao pho” that I have ever tried in Mel (idk what’s the proper name of it in English, maybe tofu pudding?!?)

Service was nice, tho it was kinda confusing at the first place as we need to figure out everything my our own (just a minor thing)
With the nice n easy price, everything was great!
Cindy Tran
Had a very nice dinner last night with chain chain. Their service was top notch and their broth was really flavourful.

Tom Yum broth: super flavourful not overly sour like most Tom yum broths that you get. Very suitable for hot pot, although could taste of a lot of msg.

There was a limited amount of food on the conveyor belt. There was only beef to choose for your meats. 3-4 types of vegetables. They had a wide range of noodles which was surprising. Each person had a plate of seafood ranging from one abalone, 2-3 pip pees, 1/4 of a blue crab and 3 prawns. All of the seafood were frozen but still tasted fresh.

Buffet: $35 pp
Children under the age of 12: $18

Yum Yum very Yummy food and desert, very decent price eat as much as you desire staff won’t give you the deadly eyeball look the staff is very friendly. Very nice family atmosphere special Monday - Thursday kids eat free for each adult if they are under 135cm. 👍

Been there many times and NEVER DISAPPOINTED ONCE!
I love this place, easy, yummy, friendly!!
Also I always bring my friends and family to have dinner there because it’s very easy and worth a dollar 💵 !
Recommend to everyone I know ^^
If you haven’t been there, YOU BETTER GO!
Lachlan Mos
I like hot pot so much, especially in summer. The amount of dish in this restaurant was huge according to the price. The dining environment was quite pleasant. It’s a nice experience there
Stylepam
The worse hotpot I have ever try :( soup is really sweet. And the seafood is frozen. Food on train are no fresh and limited choose.. also the watermelon seems put there on the long time... really bad experience! However, service is really good and nice to be honesty.
Panda
Went here for lunch Christmas Eve and was pretty happy with the place. The place is affordable and pretty good value for money. They have a big variety of noodles and veggies and fish ball/meat balls. The difference variety of soup bases were nice . I ordered the mushroom soup as I had a toddler to share with but every else ordered the spicy variations and was happy with those . There could have been more meat variations however for the money u pay u can't really complain. They have little additional things like spring rolls, prawn crackers, chicken wings, watermelon and ice cream- which they don't have to do but we found was a bonus ! Will go back !

With an international student like me, the Chain Chain Hotpot is a great choice for weekend dinners. Vietnamese students often have the phrase "Ngon - Bổ - Rẻ" when talking about Chain Chain restaurants. It' mean "delicious-tonic-cheap" - Sure, everyone likes this
.

Came here on a Tuesday night at 5:30pm with the family. Although when we arrived it was still quite empty, by 6 it was very busy full of customers. The staff here were very friendly and service is very fast. Food: vegetarian coleslaw: very refreshing and so much choices . There are plenty of food: prawns, squid, pork, egg, lamb, beef, mushrooms, vegetables, ... up to 60 kinds of food, I think! The soups extremely delicious. We had : Tomyum, Crab, Kimchi and Super spicy. Overall, we had a great meal for very reasonable prices . Would definitely recommend if you're in Footscray!

Coming home from a long trip, we wanted a good feed and Chain Chain definitely delivered. Ambience was buzzing with people, we were greeted and seated immediately. I wanted something fresh and we had all, flavours were bang on washed this down with an avocado smoothie! Sooo amazing My bestie who is a vegetarian had such a variety to choose from on the menu : had the many kinds of noodle and tofu, lots of green vegetables, mushrooms taro....said her meal delicious. Highly recommended, great value for money and delicious food.
Thanh Bui
The service was excellent and the manager was super friendly. Food was fresh and its interesting they served in a small portion and we could try variety of food. Will definitely come back.

I went with my friend on birthday here and the staff member really nice and helpful plus food there is fresh and delicious soup. I'm very satisfied
!

Fantastic! My family and I were walking to our fave Pho joint when we saw Chain Chain. We were greeted warmly by the friendly Rose, who we found out later to be the owner. Rose showed us what was on offer and how simple it was to do. Partly because of her charm and partly because of the allure of hot soup and contents (through your own selection via a conveyor belt!), we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed at all!

After selecting our Base Soup and having a medium pot of this placed in front of us on top of our own electric stove, we started to choose from the passing ingredients on the conveyor belt. My kids enjoyed looking for the bowls of fresh vegetables, fish, meats and other ingredients and making their selections. They really liked the novelty of being the boss of what went into their dinner.
We had a great time as we had a healthy meal (wombok, prawn and choy sum, anyone?) and lots of options and a lot of fun in making it all up.
We would definitely come back again.
Thank you, Chain Chain!
De Bruyne Kevin
I cannot believe how cheap this place is. Fresh food and excellent service too. It is the BEST Hotpot restaurant I've ever seen... I will come back again.
Jemy Ngoc

It's 35 degrees today. My closest friend called me to have hotpot. So crazy she is! But she said that really want to eat hot pot today. But I really happy about dinner tonight. It's not hot at all but very interesting, good food, friendly staff, nice restaurant, and cool air indoor. I will definitely come back even it's 40 degrees hot!!

The hotpot soup was great and the side dishes on the conveyer were amazing as well. The extra side of seafood you get regardless was good but not everyone will be into it, at least not me, so I feel like it was a bit of a waste. But overall I loved itt, would come again 👌🏼

Order Tom yum and crab broth. Both were amazing. Had a decent amount of food selection which was great. Came with seafood too which includes blue crab, abalone, salmon, prawns, scallops, clams and dumplings

I have been here a couple of times. Each person gets a plate of seafood on arrival and it is really fresh. They have many items on the train and it's a place you can always go back to for a hotpot fix. I also love their dessert!

This place is amazing.. Staffs are extremely friendly. They have more dishes on the conveyor belt this time. Fresh beef and abalones. The flavor was awesome too. What a gem in Footscray.

A girlfriend organised hotpot for a bunch of us last week and I was really looking forward to it based off some reviews off Facebook but alas, food is average, soup base was bland...sigh, I don't know if it was just me but service was really lacking. I get we have to cook and get things ourselves but the plates were too slow to be taken away and the space was really small, felt boxed in at times going to get sauces and to the toilet. There just doesn't seem to be any heart in what they do.

The price is quite reasonable, 25 for lunch. My soup base (tom yum) was flavorsome and not too spicy. They have a variety of dipping sauces, free spring rolls and fried rice, you can just help yourself and plus a seafood, dumplings plate to start with.
The food on the belt, however was pretty basic, not so many options. They don’t have any pork, seafood (except for octopus tentacles) dishes.
But I was full and happy enough!

As students, we got 20% discount which was great. Nice ambience, tasty hotpot soup, perfect "chè", good fruit 🍉. Almost all things were perfect except one thing which was the range of food on the train. It's kind of basic and boring. For example there's only beef without pork and chicken. Overall, I had a decent experience here, and my friends also agreed.

Price: $35pp at dinner

Food:
The food itself was pretty mediocre. I would liken it to making my own instant noodles - with all the ingredients I love (mushrooms) around me. There's a variety of soup bases to choose from and you definitely eat your fill. But $35 worth of cheap food i.e. beef balls, fish balls, mushrooms, lettuce, variety of dried noodles?
They're definitely making a killing. But in a location that's close to the newly opened Gong Cha, I'm sure there won't be a loss of customers for a while. The colourful dishes are also really cute!

They also give you a seafood dish at the start filled with crab, some shells, dumplings, prawns and the like. Too bad I'm not a big fan of seafood :(

Service:
There's self serve water and a sweet dessert coconut syrupy drink near the cash register. I helped myself to the treat and with the jellies inside, I was a big fan!
Generally there was no service except for the start when the waitress showed us to our table and told us about the self service station (which included dip!!). Then, we saw her again when she brought our soups over and turned the electric stoves on.
Otherwise, we were generally left to our own devices.

It was a decent hotpot experience here! I liked the tom yum soup as it was a Vietnamese take on tom yum; something I'm used to and prefer. The assortments of items available to add to the hotpot is typical. For each hotpot, a plate of shellfish (abalone, scallop, muscle, crab, prawns) and dumplings were given. Then, you pick and choose what you want to add. Some items were frozen (the crab stick has a plastic wrapper on it plz be careful and remember to remove it). There were interesting items such as mini sausages which were really delicious, a range of fish cakes, different types of noodles including green noodles etc. the shaved beef was unimpressive (frozen, dry even though I barely cooked it). There was a range of sauces you can make to dip; I recommend mixing garlic, spring onions, xo sauce and soy sauce together!
There was a delicious Asian dessert at the self serve sauce bar at the end of our meal too! Coconut milk with jelly and jackfruit.
