Review Swadesh - Footscray

Not willing to honour the lunch deal because I was 10 minutes late? No mention of time on the flyer anyway. Zero for customer experience.

I stopped by there for dinner last night and ordered Goat Biryani served in a steel pot. Meat was very tender and tasty and rice was OK. Prices are reasonable for the quantity and quality of food.Definately worth trying

Order 6 dishes and most of the dishes were just bad, raw tandoori chicken, hard/crispy nan, papdi chaat doesn’t taste anything like chaat, malai kofta stuffing taste stale, hardly any meat in goat kadai all bones.

I went out with my wife to enjoy food and here we get surprises First waiter she thinks she deputy cheaf officer, no smile on face no welcome no hi no hello she come drop menu and go it's like we come for free food Again she come put empty plates on table with no smile she was having some kind of attitude. I was so angry I wanted to cancel the order and go out of the restaurant but my wife stop me. Again she come with food she put on side instead putting it middle of two people, my wife lift the plate and put it in middle We are really upset with the gir service , I ask owner to check camera on 29/04/2018 around 8:45 and look her attitude change staff otherwise you will loose your business .

Extremely slow service. Ordered advised would be 35 minutes for pickup. 35 minutes passes and everytime I inquired about how long it would be it was always another 5 minutes. Ended up being an extra 25 minutes. Please be more realistic with your wait times.

Man.. you rock again.. Awesome thick chicken tikka masala.. wow what a taste. I went to Footscray for Angan but i can say that your chicken tikka masala(the thick version) is the best chicken which i had in melbourne in past 3 years. wow... thumbs up buddy.

Services is good. Staff is nice. However Roti is burned. Been in few Indian restaurants but this is a first time some one explains burned roti is crispy

The best place to have biriyani. The veg dum biriyani is awesome. They make the salaan the best in Melbourne. Always have recommended all dishes with swadesh to all my friends.

Ordered Mysore masala dosa, onion dosa and chicken biryani and noodles. Dosa was perfectly made with less oil and very tasty. Chicken dum biryani was yum and full of hyderabadi flavours. Staff are very professional. Restaurant interior was nice and welcoming.

A beautiful restaurant. Dishes yum! Made to your preference. Being a vegetarian and south Indian was a bit hard to find a restaurant that suits my palate, but Swadesh is now my best one. Ordered paneer 65, schezwan Gobi, set dosa and veg biriyani. Biriyani had less masala which I loved. The entree was authentic and took my back to south India. The peanut chutney they serve reminds me of home😍
Ambience - 4
Service - 5
Taste - 5

Worst indian food i have ever tried in melbourne. Neither satisfied with food nor with the employees. Never gonna step to this place again in future.

Always a die hard fan for the biryani from Swadesh Glenhuntly. This time thought of trying the one in Footscray and had a takeaway for Goat Dum biryani family pack.

The quantity is little less from the previous times I had in glen huntly but the flavour and taste is the same. It is absolutely delicious, my taste buds became alive again 😊😜

The restaurant is nice and cozy. The staff at the counter was very friendly.

Would highly recommend this place for a mouthwatering Hyderabadi biryani 👍

I often visit a restaurant with an open mind to see what the chef has to offer even if I am fairly familiar with the cuisine. This place had started off on a pretty decent place but everytime I kept going back it got worse.
I am sure it has the potential to become better but the food was not fresh the previous two times and I ended up with an upset stomach. The waiter was not helpful in my query about the food or my trying to tell him about the quality of food.

It sure is a one time try but definitely not worth your buck.

Some times the food really tastes well, but most of the times with the food taste it’s absolutely guaranteed that we will have upset stomach.
Completely disappointed with the quality of food served here.

We've only been here once but we found the service to be stand offish to the point of being rude.We came here for a light supper having had a small dinner. We ordered two dosas and two samosas. The food had nothing special to note about it.The waitress kept pressuring us to purchase more food I'm guessing because we had spent less than $10 between two of us. We were asked a few more times and we declined. There is a way to do this politely; the look of outrage on the waitresses face will mean we will never return.

Consistently great food. These guys care about their menu and it's recently been updated to a bigger range. Great addition to Wefo Barkly St Village.

I just had the dollar dosa. It was good and even service was good. Come atleast for that. They would soon have tandoori stuff as well. Just next to Aangan

Great value for money. Tried a few bits and pieces and found the food to be very tasty. Well balanced flavours and spices will make this little restaurant stand out amongst the rest. Looking forward to working my way through the rest of their menu.
Only bought the vegetable samosas, good size, crispy and authentic with a sweet sauce. Service was good and the person serving professional and polite. Worth trying out their mains.

We love the paneer/masala dosas and biryani at Swadesh. I won't lie, the vegetarian biryani will burn your face off, but we love it this way and will keep coming back for more. Very reasonable prices. Nom nom nom.

Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! Love it! Brilliant and helpful service and fabulous value for money! Great mango lassi, dahi puri and dosa. Will be back regularly. Dahi puri was best I've had!

Excellent food. No curries, limited menu but just loved the food. Interior was fine, neither extra nor less. Chef customized our dishes to our delight.
