Review Mc Dumpling - Footscray

Edwald Edwald
Delicious dumplings, have been coming back for multiple times with consistent satisfaction. Good establishment with not only great food to offer but also organised and clean. Will kept coming back to try different dishes in the menu Edit. Back to the restaurant and tried the share dishes. Fish in Chili soup is flavoursome without chili flavour dominating the dish and the mongolian beef is simply gorgeously fragrant and divine.

This dumpling joint is so wonderful! The Pan Fried Pork & Chinese Cabbage dumplings are perfectly cooked & have a perfect amount of filling & juice inside. The pumpkin pancakes are sweet & crispy. The bread on the pork buns is so soft and fluffy. 🤩 McDumplings is definitely worth your time!

A fantastic hidden gem for cheap eats. All the food came out really quick and everything was delicious. The Sichuan Spicy beef was great. Spending $40 here will fill up two very hungry people. Or if you're not too hungry, you can get a meal for two here for under $30. Great value. Would definitely come back!

Great dumplings. Although after spending $70 here the lady giving me my order only gave us 2 small soy sauces. When I asked for more she refused to give more. The Cucumber salad had also gone brown and warm as it was in the same bag as our hot food.

So disappointed with the portion of the "main meal" we purchased. We ordered the beef and black bean main size for $28 and received the tiniest container that wasn't filled to the top... This is unacceptable and so appalling. Safe to say we will never ever order from this restaurant again.

I ordered chicken and prawn dumplings and pork and chive dumplings. I didn't like the pork, the chive was overpowering, but the chicken and prawn were incredible. Each one had a capsule of tasty liquid that burst into your mouth as you bit into the dumpling, I'll be hoping back. I also ordered noodles.

Very good dumplings place! Will have to try more items to consider a 5 star review, however steamed and pan fried pork dumplings were both perfectly prepared and tasted pretty good!

Newly opened fast food style restaurant. Really cheap but the quality is average. The dumplings are bite size and they have quite a range of flavor. The also have a selection of snacks. We ordered boiled pork and corn dumplings as well as fried pork mushroom dumplings. I prefer boiled one as the skin of the fried ones taste a bit funny. Cant really taste either the corn or the mushrooms. Also tried the fried chicken ribs. Quite tasty. Staff are friendly with limited English. Edit 29Mar2018: fried chicken ribs with rice is currently $6.50! Value for money and taste good too. Uploaded new menu.

Very decently priced dumplings in a fast food style restaurant. My tip, ask for the 5 spice chicken ribs, but without the rice or salad - they're addictive!

Great little place to eat, staff is so lovely, the food is beautiful and so cheap, you can’t go wrong! Cute layout and not always so busy so it’s good to come and chill with friends if you don’t want a hectic environment

Clean place. Great service. Awesome food. Plenty of dips and sauces

Fried Tofu & Vegetarian Dumpling soup is the best. Highly recommendation!

Cheap and delicious

The soup tasted like detergent and the pan friend dumplings were soggy.

Good fast food dumplings. I prefer to eat these dumplings fresh instead of take away. Decor is basic but appropriate. And staff are always nice.

Clean, nice and humble Chinese restaurant in Footscray. The boiled dumplings tasted fresh and were so juicy. The honey chicken was extremely crunchy, not soggy at all. The fried rice had the classic Chinese fried rice taste without being overly greasy. All the food tasted fresh and home made. The menu also has a nice variety of different dishes. Service was nice, would definitely recommend and I can’t wait to come back here.
Virgil
People were friendly and they didn’t rush us out even though we stayed a little longer after we had finished our meals. The place started to get crowded for dinner time and the pan friend dumplings definitely hit the spot when you’re craving them and not willing to travel too far.
CapTre
Good pork dumplings. Very cheap (even for dumplings), really like fried ones. Not under cooked at all.

My score 3.5 stars (avg of 2 reviews). J and I had lunch here on Thu 15th of Aug. Clean surrounds, efficient friendly waiter, big screen with music videos. Complimentary jasmine tea, nice and hot but a bit average (tiny amount of bitterness). We would return for the FKT (see below).

I had Popcorn chicken ($5) - Shouldn't have bothered as it is a dish that needs to be shared by a group IMO (got a bit “samey”). Smaller pieces a bit dry, larger pieces better. Not really much spice or seasoning on the coating - definitely needed the sweet chilli sauce.

We shared Seafood Kway teow ($12) - Lovely wide noodles, a little chewy (in a nice way). Matchstick carrots, fishcake, 2 big prawns, 2 pieces calamari (a bit chewy & got cold quickly). Garlic chives yummy, plus normal chives. Lots of egg - very nice. Overall very good, not ultra charry but nice chilli spice level. Lup cheong would have made it even better.

We also shared Boiled veggie dumplings ($9.50) - Thick green wrappers, quite chewy, not very big or moist. Mixed insides - carrot, mushroom, bean curd, other things, garlic chive? Jane liked the flavour.

We had them with soy, vinegar and an interesting spiced chilli oil (very charry caramelised flavour, five spice, sesame seeds, chilli, sichuan peppercorn)?

9 months ago. J picked up some Vego/Lamb and leek dumplings for dinner (half boiled/half pan fried of each).
I had all the lamb ones as a guilty meaty treat - they were tasty and moist (I won't feel like eating non-seafood meat ones for quite some time now).

J had most of the vego ones - unfortunately we were both a bit disappointed by them. The filling was certainly different, having plenty of mushrooms - however it was dry and a bit stodgy (it had LOTS of bean thread noodles BTW). Perhaps they didn't travel well (no problems with the lamb ones though)…

Food was cold (delivered by Deliveroo) meal wasn’t nice. Ordered a Nasi Goreng - it had fake seafood in it, and not the correct flavours. I recooked myself and added in Kecap Manis and fried my own egg.

I've been to this restaurant a couple of times since opening.
It is laid out in a modern manner and feels open and spacious.
Beware of the cold coming through the doors if you are planning to eat in.
The fried dumplings are decent enough, nothing in comparison to some of the best in Chinatown these days but reminiscent of the old Shanghai Dumpling House.
The dumpling skin is thick and probably would be better if they were fried for longer. Serving size is more than decent for the price.
I also had the fried rice. The portion size would be enough for 2/3 as a side dish with dumplings and other items on the menu.
The rice combos also looked like a great option for the price.
I won't be back in a hurry but I will consider if I want some food in the area.

Affordable dumpling fix in Footscray! This place is small, clean and friendly. I prefer their boiled dumplings than the pan fried, and they also come with soup/noodles soup option. Mapo tofu has extra black pepper on top - which I don't mind - but I guess this may be a problem for some people as the overall taste becomes a bit too peppery.

Midweek lunch. Cheap dishes & modern, fresh looking decor. Just don’t sit near the door in cold weather, it doesn’t close itself and we froze while it was continuously left ajar.
Soup was good. Lots of egg but chicken was sparse.
Dumplings & popcorn chicken were a standout.
BBQ Pork Buns must have been good, they were devoured quickly by the rest of the table.
Staff were attentive & all tables were promptly served by the kitchen.

Cheap eats but starting to creep up in price. Dumplings are great as is the five spice chicken. Casual place in a great location on Barkly St

I was craving dumplings mid week but too lazy to venture into the city in the winter cold so i decided to give this place a go. The interior is cute and a little nicer than your standard dingy dumpling shop. We ordered the xiao long bao, fried pork and chive dumplings, fried wontons, red bean pancake and chicken wings. The xiao long bao skin was a little thick and the filling was too spongey for my liking. The dumplings were good but nothing too special. The red bean pancake was very dry although generous with the filling which I appreciated. The chicken wings lacked flavour and just tasted salty. The fried wontons however were amazing and I’d probably return just for these. Service was friendlier than expected and quite hospitable.

Just got done stuffing myself with pork and chive dumplings and char kway teow. I REGRET NOTHING!

Great service also.
Since when do reviews need to be 140 characters long?

3.5/5 MC Dumpling may be known for its handmade dumplings, but there’s more to it than that. Its extensive range of dishes also includes a dedicated menu for Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine.

First order with spring onion pancake. It was nothing special, very less amount of spring onion, mostly flour deep fried. I came back again for another shot with taro pancake. And again very disappointed. The dish was only deep fried flour stuffed with some kind of sưeet, not even taste like taro. I wont come back for pancake again.

We were lucky to be invited to MC Dumplings in Footscray. We didn't know that there was a dumpling shop after being a local for almost 20 years. We were surprised to find this brightly lit shop that had a large menu from dumplings to sichuan style dishes.

The dumplings were delicious and not overly oily. Their Sichuan beef noodles was large! and had the perfect amount of spiciness. We also had their sichuan style fried chicken which was super fragrant.

To finish off the meal there was even dessert. We had their taro fried pancakes and brown sugar fried cakes.

Venue was clean and welcoming, staff were friendly and provided great customer service.

Based on Zomato reviews, we were looking forward to having a delicious meal. We may have visited on an off day, the flavouring missed the mark. These dishes tasted as though their potential was diluted to meet westernised pallets.

Xiao Long Bao was soupy but bland, soy sauce and vinegar did nothing to improve the flavour.
Stir Fried Hefen was flavourless, there were bits of chicken, egg, bok choy in a sea of bland flat noodles. After a few bites, I had given up on the dish.
Kung Pao Chicken was saucy, chicken moist & tender, seasoning was okay. The sauce tasted similar to a mixture of Maccas BBQ mixed with sweet & sour sauce.
Nasi Goreng was very salty, we thought maybe the seasoning was not evenly distributed and mixed in the rice further but it didn't make a difference. This was westernised special fried rice with salty explosions in every spoonful.

I also had the Soybean drink, it was delicious!

Overall, if it was possible I would give the food here 2.5 stars. We walked away broken spirited.

Newly opened in Footscray, MC Dumplings offers amazing value and a delicious, authentic taste of Sichuan and Northern Chinese cuisines to the locals that are bound to satisfy with generous helpings and affordable prices.
With specials on offer that contain some more exotic cuts like tripe and intestines, MC Dumpling caters both to anyone looking for a super authentic taste of Northern China, as well as a more Westernised version with Chinese influences.
FOOD TRIP
Mc Dumplings is a simple eatery bringing a combination of dumplings and various Chinese dishes to Footscray. Their dumplings are a must try as are their delicious sichuan style dishes. Food here is affordable and generously sized. Would recommend!. Delicious soymilk with just the right amount of sweetness. Awesome value for $2 ★★★★

Great local dumpling place. Menu offered a variety of food dishes as well. Very clean and great service. Would highly recommend to anyone after a cheap place for dinner.

Wow the dumplings here are great! I had the lamb & onion fried dumplings & I really enjoyed them. The lamb used was of good quality & did not have a mutton taste or odour. The skins were all uniform, not too thin or thick. Not greasy or oily.

My only suggestions for improvement, is that the bottom of the dumplings need to be browned a bit more (fried for longer) & the meat needs to be placed more loosely in the wrapper, so it’s not a tight ball of round meat when you bite into it. Loosely placing the meat into the wrapper should give it a more tender texture.

The Ma Po Tofu is to die for!!! Whoever cooks this dish back in the kitchen knows what they are doing! The texture & flavours are absolutely perfect. The minced meat is browned till crispy & the tofu has a beautiful texture. Not too spicy & the black beans give it a nice salty kick.

The Kung Pao chicken wasn’t very nice though, very very sweet & cloying. It’s like eating deep fried chicken candy. The sauce also had a strange flavour, sort of woody/mossy.

Customer service was friendly & attentive. Prices are very affordable & the other dishes on the menu look great. The restaurant was also very clean & hygienic.

It’s a great place to eat solo as well as with others. A nice modern yet homely feel. They also have great pop music playing on the tv, usually Bruno Mars or Taylor Swift!

Really enjoyed the vibe and food at MC dumpling!! Spring onion pancake was delicious. One of the better pancakes I have had-not oily like it often is. The special fried rice was yummy as was the salt and pepper chicken ribs. So good! Was not a big fan of the fried pork and chive dumplings. Thought it should have been fried on all sides. That was the only negative feedback! Worth the visit!

After reading some of the previous review, we decided to order the Lamb and Onion Pan-fried Dumpling and Seafood Char Kway Teow.
They were delicious! Lamb dumpling was juicy and tasty, and the Kway teow was flavoursome. The place was clean and nicely decorated. The service was okay. All in all, it was a good casual dinner experience. Will come back and try other dishes!

Best Dumplings I've had for a very long time/ potentially ever. We had the boiled pork and chive. I really enjoyed lunch here and will be back. Excellent value too.

If you are looking for a place that does dumplings look no further. My Chinese Dumpling are on point 👌 Love the addition of Lamb dumplings first time trying them and they were delicious. Also ordered the Beef sizzling plate which was the best we've tried in Melbourne

We were invited to Mc dumpling last night a place with some seriously delicious fried prawn and chicken dumplings. I was also happy to see they offer so much than just dumplings. A great atmosphere inside, super friendly staff and quite an extensive menu.

My fave dish was actually the char kway teow. I order this dish a lot and it was one of the most flavourful versions I’ve tried with plump juicy prawns. We also opted for the salt and pepper calamari which was a bit bland in comparison but the Mongolian sizzling beef impressed.

There was such a variety you will be spoilt for choice. I wish we had more people dining with us so we could have tried the honey chicken and the lemon chicken but we went for the satay chicken instead. The serving sizes are decent too so it’s pretty good value and it’s handy location near the station made it easily accessible
Eatable Melbourne
Having used Uber eats for delivery from Mc dumpling before I thought I would check out there restaurant in person. The food was equally as tasty although the restaurant itself lacked luster.
Please keep these dumplings coming- the vegetarian ones are particularly amazing!

Mc Dumpling nestled in the busy street of Footscray area surrounded by other Asian restaurants and markets. A simple and humble restaurant, no-fuss and pretty straightforward eating place where you can enjoy delicious dumplings and cook to order Chinese meals with great value. The restaurant set up is like a diner but with touch of Chinese and Asian heritage here and there.
AuthorLinyt
I have been here a couple times, they always serve nicely with smiles, plus the reasonable price and big portion foods.

Highly recommended if you want an easy dinner.

The dumplings are really bad considering the name of this place. The meat had a hint of sourness and it did not have any crisp despite us ordering pan fried dumplings. Not worth the money if you're looking for decent dumplings.
Hello. Imnikki
3.5

It has been almost a year since my last visit and the menu has evolved to include so much more than just dumplings. As I was here with the lovely Jojo Armani and Timinmelbourne and our respective partners, what would have been a dinner became a jolly good feast.

The focus here remains on the delicious dumplings. The boiled pork and Chinese cabbage dumplings and pan-fried beef and onion dumplings both hit the spot. A thin layer of dumpling skin was wrapped around meaty and juicy filling. The former was silky smooth, while the latter was slightly crisped - both yum!

We also tried the pork belly stew and stir-fried pork intestine. The gravy from the pork belly was heavenly paired with rice - deeply savoury and moreish. The pork intestines were cooked very well - slightly chewy, slightly springy and no smell at all. The dish itself could benefit from a flavour punch, and this was where the chilli oil came in.

The Shanghai fried noodles didn't leave much of an impression but this is no way mean that it was bad. Like us mere mortals, it was just normal.

Two other dumplings dishes and the hot and sour soup I did not try, and the spring onion pancake was unfortunately rather bland. This one definitely needed the assistance of chilli oil, lots in fact, to make it palatable. All hail the power of chilli!

The waitress with pink hair was super patient and helpful, and the owner was incredibly chatty and down-to-earth. Hope to see him do well in his business.
Timinmelbourne
I went here for dinner to try some of their du plunge and some other treats. This food originates from the Chinese mainland w some dishes from northern China.

The service was good, and I was lucky to try a range of dishes including some dumpling, and noodle dishes amongst other dishes. I’ll mention some highlights that I had.

The dumplings were light and tasty. And I had a pork belly soup (not the right name) which was amazing, sooo delicious. The potato and chives pancake was good too, light and crispy.

I tried a traditional Chinese sausage made out of offal and intestines which was also really good. The plum juice was tasty and a little sweet.

Overall this was a good night that I was lucky enough to share w Hello. Imnikki and Jojo Armani and their respective partners. It was a fun night w some really good food, and great company.

Delicious Chinese in Footscray with great dumplings! I was a bit hesitant to try the place but eventually just went inside and gave it a go. The xiao long bao and custard buns were such a highlight, flavours and texture all spot on. Definitely recommend, and they’re available for delivery. :)

Came here cos of a eat club deal when we were in the neighborhood.. quite little joint for a quick meal.. this place does a number of standard Chinese dishes.. we had the chicken ribs on rice and stir fried beef rice noodles.. the chicken ribs were decent however the noodles were not well cooked and clumped together when served..
Ok for a quick and cheap meal..
Tiffany
Yummy dumplings! We always get the pork+chives pan fried dumplings. Excellent service. We come here once a week for sure.
Special fried rice is a bit of a miss. But their wok fried noodles are tasty - can taste the char!
Foodbaby
Came here for lunch orders pan fried chicken and prawn dumplings. Skin was crispy but could not taste any prawns inside at all. Chinese broccoli stir fried in garlic was far too salty and if you need a take away container they charge 50c each. Won't be recommending this place for dumplings shanghai street dumplings in the city in Melbourne still make the best pan fried chicken and prawn dumplings hands down!

Got some delivery from this restaurant. Really tasty, good quality Chinese food!

Pork & Chive Dumplings: juicy, flavoursome, bite-size pieces. Really appreciate the thoughtful packaging that separates all the dumplings (rather than pushing them into 1 container like other restaurants do!)

Honey chicken: the pieces were a bit small (again, bite size pieces). However very crispy and retained its fresh crispy coating during the delivery. The sauce came separated from the chicken; a good move considering most fried food gets soggy while being delivered.

Fried rice: good old Chinese-style fried rice with egg, prawn, bacon/ham pieces (not just spam!) and veggies. Great to eat with the other dishes.

Definitely satisfied my craving for some Chinese comfort food!

Something different to the usual Vietnamese/Chinese dishes on the busy strip. The restaurant is not very big but comes with a wide selection of affordable eats. In keeping the price low, do expect to self service water, tea, sauce, and cutlery.

We were slightly disappointed with the lack of dumplings; despite the name of the restaurant and dumpling themed decor, there was only 2 kinds of dumplings available. The food didn't disappoint as it was flavoursome but a little oily. The dumplings was well seasoned and juicy to the bite and the chicken wings was crispy with a mild spicy kick.

The food was really good and refreshing. Its great to have a different Asian eatery in the West, especially Footscray area. The Dumplings were nice and juicy. Highly recommend the chicken and prawn dumpling and 5 spices chicken ribs. My partner tried the seafood stir fry noodles and it was quite good too. The potato floos were a bit of a disappointment but overall the experience was really good. The owners were present at the venue and were quite friendly. We will defo be back to try the other dishes.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.
Greatly improved food. I love locally and went there a few times; every time I went they food tasted better. Very good price, lots of entry selections.

This is one of those place when you tried it once make you coming back again. I love how they produce canton style food and more importantly the dumpling is top quality in Footscray area at least
Gem3121_99
Had a hankering for dumplings and whilst I was getting taken to another place, I found this place on the way!
Clean and tidy little restaurant that offers a great array of dumplings. Was able to mix and match my 16 dumplings - which I had half beef and half lamb. They were fresh and delicious and the little chilli sauce thing that came with it was unbelievable! 16 dumplings and a sprite for $11.
Glad to have found something for me in Footscray! Will be back ❤️

I had this to take away so can’t comment on ambience and service. I do think this is a good place for a budget meal, however the taste of the boiled dumplings had a doughy texture I didn’t like. The pan fried dumplings is pretty decent as well for the price you’re paying.

MC Dumpling has been opened for 6 months & is a great addition to Hopkins street restaurants. The restaurant is modern & clean. Service was very friendly & helpful. I ordered the freshly made vegetarian dumplings dish ($12.99), and asked for 8 pan fried & 8 boiled. The dumplings were small but perfect size for one bite. The filling was delicious, containing a variety of vegetables instead of the usual boring spinach/chives/mushroom dumpling. Highly recommend trying this place out.
Gabi Zmijarevic
The food didn't have much flavour at all. I got the pork and chives pan fried dumplings and they were very bland, not much flavour at all. if you are looking for dumplings I would not recommend this place.
Tim Skewes
Best night ever a little slow if I had to be picky but it was packed, all and all so damn tasty and the taste OMG epic I'll be back and I will book with friends
Alessia185
Ordered the pork and chives dumpling, egg and beef hofen and the beef with black bean sauce on rice. The beef was sooo tender and melted in your mouth but the dumplings was the highlight as it was sooo juicy and had a lot of flavour, although the dumplings were a tad small. Overall pretty good had generous portions and really good for its price. Also the service was pretty good and dishes came out fairly quick.
Bianca
PROS
Something for everyone .massive variety of main meal options served with rice including Chinese broccoli with garlic for $13 (which i hungrily chowed into before realizing i didn't take a pic) and salt and pepper fish with rice at only $10 has a great hit of five spice!
Spanish mackerel dumplings are nice, pan fried on this occasion and well cooked.
Mushroom and vegetable buns were ok but could go a bit more filling imo, serve of 2 is great.
DEEP FRIED BEANCURD is definitely a standout dish, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside with a delish sweet sesame dressing.
Great friendly and professional service and nice clean and comfortable dining area with background music.
Self serve station area for cutlery/water/tea/condiments and sauces and order and pay at the counter.
They also sell shop made soya milk and plum juice for $2.soya milk with sugar nice and cold and refreshing as pictured.
Clean toilets and neat kitchen area.
Their menu specifies 100% vegan dishes and staff seem well informed on menu which is important for some.

CONS
Card surcharge of 1% is annoying. The noodle dishes have become a bit inconsistent. Mee goreng tasted thai flavoured, hk style noodles completely different dishes on different days.imo don't bother with noodles here. The seafood dishes can be a bit fishy as they've started using mussels instead of pippies.

FYI
Fantastic small dish options with a whole assortment at only $3 per serve. I've uploaded photos of some additional pages that they've added onto the menu and these are great as heaps of variety of vegetable/ fish/meats/noodles with a serve of rice. Will try vegetable dumplings, tea eggs and xo sauce pipis next time.good place to go if you're not sure WHAT you feel like eating yet. Just across from footscray market some get your shopping done at the same time!😁

Edit as at oct 2018********

Still love the place but smaller menu, FYI many of the dumpling options have been removed and also a few appetizer options but the main menu selection is very extensive and they've added some vegetarian buns. Vegetarian dumplings in their green skins are super addictive, Please bring back the spanish mackerel dumplings 🙏😔
Mia
Love this place ! We are regular there . It is so good for family dinners, very clean place, very tasty food, super friendly staff and the affordability is very impressive! Definitely recommend!
Thunder8621
Another beauty in Footscray whose food is as good as any place in the CBD, but without the noise, parking and hustle and bustle. Seriously cheap prices means that the food is basic and imperfect, eg dumplings missing the “juice” factor, and fish sauce aside chicken ribs on rice was a bit strange. However, an awesome feed and excellent value!
Heidi Herman
This is really good dumplings, very flavourful Pork and Chives dumplings. For the price of barely $8-$10 you get a nice and fancy tray of 16 pieces, neatly placed in their own little cubicles. Where else can you get this good dumplings for the price?!!!

“Get yourselves the chicken ribs on rice. It’s dope.”- said my husband.

Finally found a comfy dining place in Footscray. The venue is bright, clean, friendly staff.
Ordered varieties of entree dishes, explored the best combinations for us :)
They serves a big portion of Dumplings with a reasonable price and I like the pork&chive the most. Will give a try for other flavours next time.
Daniel
The filling of the dumplings were unique and tasted slightly different to other dumpling restaurants. I enjoyed the homemade soybean milk and the chicken and corn dumplings. The noodle soup needs improvement. The food was really cheap.
Annabelle&Eric
Such an underrated restaurant which offers a twist on the classic Vietnamese menus of its surrounding restaurant rivals. Our favourite is their $6.50 five spice chicken ribs on rice which is so undeserving for the price but we aren’t complaining! So delicious and comes with a generous serve of beautifully seasoned fried chicken ribs, salad, rice and sauce. Not to mention the array of free condiments from siracha and chilli oil to soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce and free lemon water and green tea which is always well stocked and tidy by excellent and tentative staff.

Their $3 entrees are also well worth it, the portions are reasonable and a great snack; we have tried the popcorn chicken and prawn spring rolls which were both great. We are yet to try the dumplings which is ironic but they are very popular and seem to be great value seeing you get 16 for $13. The only minor disappointment was their crispy chicken noodle soup we tried. The chicken came soggy which was somewhat expected but we were still interested to see how it would come out nonetheless. The soup was very flavourful however became sickening after a while. A standard price for a noodle soup, probably slightly cheaper than its competitors but also a generous portion. I would not recommend the soups if you are expecting your traditional pho.

We love this restaurant and it never seems to be too busy! Would definitely recommend coming down and checking out. It does justice to Footscray’s culinary name.
Mel
Everything is cheap with generous portions. Crispy chicken noodle soup is bland and when the fried chicken soaks in the soup it becomes soggy. Fried dumplings is alright but the skins are a little under cook which could be a one off thing . Popcorn chicken appetiser doesn’t have much flavour as well. Overall it’s not a bad restaurant but I prefer food that has more flavouring.
Sarah Flemming
We started with the lamb and carrot pan fried dumplings which were nice but not amazing. We both had the crispy chicken noodle soup. Not a lot of flavour and a bit oily. Service was great though!
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: This is a relatively new place in the surburb of Footscray and I finally got a chance to try.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: quick, easy and affordable! The food was great for the price and I would recommend the chicken cutlets with rice dishes. The dumplings were adorable as they came in mini sizes.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I didn’t quite enjoy the boiled dumplings as the meat inside was a little over cooked and felt rough on the tongue.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: a great place for a quick dinner!

I finally found a traditional Chinese Dumpling restaurant in Footscray. The food there are very nice and and delicious for a very reasonable price. The customer service is a major standout with nice waitresses and fast time used to cook the food. This is a restaurant you should try, I am sure you will love it.

I've been here several times now and the dumplings are delicious! I'm vegetarian and love both the steamed and fried veg dumplings - both are unlike dumplings I've tasted elsewhere. I did once find a pork dumpling amongst my veg dumplings though and wasn't too impressed, but the staff were very apologetic and brought us a new plate very quickly. I've been here with meat-eaters too and they love the meat dumplings as well. They have a range of $3 appetisers which are hit and miss but lots of them are delicious and for $3 I can't complain. Dumplings are a great price too.

The food is so much that I can't eat them all. So I have to take away the rest. I like the salty chicken with rice. So crispy! Thats my fav. So do the fried ribs! Love them! And the staffs are friendly and environment is quite clean. I wil go there twice, third ...! Anyway great place to eat

The noodle soup was very bland, you need to douse it with soy sauce, so was the vegetable dumpling. Order the crispy chicken as it is the safest option.

Good dumplings especially for its price! Cheap and tasty sides! Got free ribs for checking in on FB. Loved the tofu and soy milk. The place is clean and good service. Will be back.

Amazingly good pork and chive dumplings. The lamb and leek are a must order. We got two serves of dumplings, wedges popcorn chicken and two drinks for under $30. Great new place in Footscray.

Chicken and corn fried dumplings were delicious. Our 4yo kids hoovered them too. Super friendly service. Good value. Only gripe is that dumplings come in batches of 16 which makes it difficult to order different varieties. Otherwise excellent.

Some of the best Dumplings I've eaten in Australia. Great service, very nice take away boxes. Dumplings + chicken wings, All for just $9. Highly recommend!

Deep fried beancurd was my favorite. Really delicious. Light with a crispy outside and lovely sweet sauce. Pork and chive dumplings were pretty good.

Impeccably clean and fast service.
