I'm about over it. I've been battling a Piza Hut addiction lately, but I think I'm getting over it. Not because of this place -- it is a typical Pizza Hut, just like hundreds of others across Australia. (I bet the ones in the U.S. are better, though.) Pizza Hut seems to be in a price war with Domino's, and I've noticed independent pizzerias dropping their tariffs too. The intersection near The Western Hospital where this Hut is located would be a prime place for a price war, with it, Eat Pizza and Brown Camel all dishing out pies in an area close enough to Frisbee a frozen 'za between.

It's just that the Hut's $4.95 price for a standard 'za is not enough to excite me any more. I still like the crackery thin crust when it's under pepperoni. The Aussie BBQ beef pie I got from here, though, is lacklustre. The predominant flavour is the grocery store style barbeque sauce that's drizzled over it. The burger mince on top, while generous, doesn't have the zing! that pepperoni does. And the thin crust feels insubstantial -- the whole pizza barely outweighs the mass of the box it comes in. I used to enjoy Pizza Hut's thick Chicago-style crusts, but eventually the white flouriness of them got to my "healthy eater" side. One splurge at Pizza Hut was good, pig-outs two through eight were satisfactory, but after about 10 rounds of this chain's pies, I'm ready to move on.
