Great tasting food that is reasonably priced. The service is good and efficient. Friendly staff.

Awesome chicken pho and my partner loves the tripe and tendon, service is great, food is delicious and they take card!

Saigon Pho offers Tipical pho, that reflect Vietnamese good food and ads to Footscray's Vietnamese scene as a whole.

Delicious food prepared fresh and quick by a lovely family owned business. The owner and staff are super-friendly and hospitable. A hot bowl of pho on a Winter's day is perfect.

Really great place for Pho.This place is nice and clean. The staff are friendly, efficient and professional.I had The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup which was very fresh, fragrant and well priced.A must go to when in Footscray!!

Great little Pho place that highlights Footscray's Vietnamese food scene. I was lucky enough to travel to Vietnam recently and have been craving a good, authentic Saigon pho. This place definitely does the trick in satisfying that craving.

Really fkn good pho and Vietnamese iced coffee. Was super cheap and super filling and really set us up for my day. The staff are also super friendly and kind. Will most definitely be back when I’m in Vic Note: not the best pic but oh well

My favourite pho in Footscray. Plenty of vegan/vegetarian options, definitely must try their rice paper rolls

There are so many vietnamese restaurants in Footscray and we visited Saigon Pho to try their Pho and Broken rice and it did not dissapoint.

The staff is friendly here and we really enjoyed the pho. The broth was really nice and the noodles were cooked well.

one of the best pho places in footscray, absolutely perfect on a winters day 😊 service is A+, my favourite place to get pho and will always come here. not far from footscray station and vu footscray campus. also very well priced too. 😋

Food 3/5
Environment 3/5
Service 3/5

An average Pho shop. Located in the corner of main street and compared with other popular restaurant, it is not the first choice for me. The pork rice’pork is too oily and taste like rubber and Pho is average.

I’ve been to this place maybe 5 times, and the food is consistently good. I’ve ordered beef pho and pork spring rolls in the past. Both yummy. The pho isn’t too oily and has a good balance of flavours. Out of the 3-4 pho places I’ve been to in footscray, this one is my favourite. I’m surprised the restaurant isn’t busier!

My score 4 stars. J & I had lunch here today for the first time. Got there (unfashionably early apparently) at about 12.45 & only 2 other customers - by 1.15 place was 3/4 full. Mainly a mix of work lunchers & older Vietnamese families. Service was ok. Lunch menu not quite the same as one shown here on Zomato. J had a medium Vego Pho - wow, large serve, full of goodies ($11). Really good broth, plenty of bean shoots, noodles, fresh herbs & wombok - nice tofu. Carrot & broccoli slightly softened, but not too much - a really nice touch. Both of us thought it was really flavoursome (4.5 stars). I had the Vermicelli salad combo of Grilled pork & Prawn spring rolls ($14). Again, large serve - lots of goodies & nice punchy vinaigrette. J & I thought the Spring rolls were good - nice filling & not too much pastry. I thought the pork was flavoured nicely of lemongrass, but a touch chewy at times (3.5 stars). I don't eat much red meat usually, so if going down that track, I would prefer Vermicelli salad w "Beef in vine leaf" at either Hao Phong (Footscray) or Binh Minh (Richmond). Next time we visit SP we're tossing up between a small Vego pho each; or sharing a large Vego pho & a plate of Prawn spring rolls (such "first world" problems)...

Best pho in the West! The broth is delicious and so are the noodles. They have a great noodles to broth to beef proportion. My go-to pho restaurant! Should definitely give this a try! It can be a little pricey though

I’ve heard about the amazing pho in Footscray so it was time to give it a go, or at least something similar.

I had lunch at Saigon Pho and this place was really clean and the staff were friendly. I was instantly shown to a table and offered some tea. Thank you.

I was going to order some pho but my preferred dish is vermicelli salad w roast pork and spring rolls and having eaten that a few times before this is what I decided on.

And wow! What an amazing choice, when this dish was presented to me this was big enough for 2
people hahaha

The spring rolls were amazing, the salad fresh and tasty, the pork was well cooked and the dish was perfect. The accompanying sauce was a bit unusual to me at first but once I got used to the unique flavour I was really impressed.

This is a must visit if your in the area looking for some delicious Vietnamese food.

Pho • Hung • Vuong • Saigon ATTENTION!!! PHO!!!! Omg pho, springs rolls, Bbq chicken.... honestly what else could you ask for in life??? This place is just cramped day and night, with a glass window at the front, you can see everyone slurping on the pho, so trust me your eye won’t miss it. It gives you vibes of Vietnam without leaving Footscray. Real quick service, and prices from $6 to $16, it’s more of an in and out, rather then a sit back and gaze into your lovers eyes sort of vibe, but you definitely leave the place about to pop!!! #foodporn #pho #footscray #foodblogger

the best pho in Footscray! friendly staff, fresh (and consistent) pho and very clean! I love that we never have to wait for a table too - a hidden gem!
Footscray Fiend
hands down the best pho in Footscray! So good! My go to every time without a doubt. And they’ve got a vegetarian pho available as well! Staff are friendly and very accommodating.

Service is really fast here. The pho menu is quite extensive and the broth is tasty. We had the combination beef and the chilli beef dishes and they were great.

A small shop off the side of Footscray's main street, Saigon Pho is better than most with 'Pho' in their name.

Generous portions - large amount of meat and noodles. The meat was cooked well throughout - in particular, the beef brisket was flavoursome and had everything which should be expected. In the same field, their meatballs were very soft- most of which was probably due to the fat - watch out if you're dieting- but was very worth the short indulgence.

Also, an above average soup. Served straight away hot, the soup was well seasoned and not overly salty I could probably finish a bowl of it.

Better than one would expect, a good place for a filling meal. I

Ordered 'the lot special' pho and beef & chicken pho for our lunch, and I have nothing to complain. The soup was hot and tasty and the size was generous.
Tried their rice vermicelli salad with spring rolls as well, and again the size was huge. It tasted great, but the pho was the winner here.
Service was quick and the waiter was very friendly.
Definitely will come back.

Delicious spicy pho, delicious spring rolls, good service and fresh food. Thankfully, not as busy as some of the other pho places in footscray. Will be back.

Mind the photo, I started eating before I took it! Saigon Pho is a solid favourite for Pho, and a warm lunch. Great service, great taste, great prices, it's a win! Another winner is their spring rolls, 10 is alot but when they taste that good you'll never stop.
I highly recommend :)

My family and I have been coming here for over 10 years now at least once a week c: food is great especially on cold nights, the person in charge Harry never disappoints with his friendly service along with his staff members 👌the chilli beef soup is always good to have on a cold day with a punch of spiciness! Highly recommend 👍

The best pho in Footscray. Great service, friendly owners. All of the food is fresh and made with good quality produce. The pho, in particular, is never greasy and always tasty. I've been eating here since 1994 and have never had a bad meal.

Super friendly staff and quick service. Good variety of pho that taste great. Been going there twice a week for the last month. Recommend rare beef noodle soup for first timers otherwise try the chilli beef with rice noodles instead of vermicilli.

Very nice vermicelli salad, with pork / spring rolls. The good portion of of vegetables was a pleasant surprise. Humble surrounds, and staff who are friendly enough. Would return for sure.

I was in Little Saigon Market getting a few exotic items that are not in my local supermarket. It was very cold and I was tired. I got in Saigon Phó for a serve of beef soup & spring rolls. Traditional delicious taste and very fresh. Spring rolls are a bit tiny compared to other Vietnamese restaurants but just as tasty. It was quiet when I got there but soon filled up as I was leaving. Service is quick with attentive staff.
FOOD TRIP
Vietnamese pho restaurant next to the massive fruit and veggie market. Pho is decent, but the 3 Colour Drink is overpriced. Three Colour Drink $4. Expensive for such a small serving. Get a much better sundae-style glass at Hung Vuong. Also, it was probably the least sweet three colour drink I’ve ever had, which was good. 5/10

medium is more than enough. Soup was nice, and the noodle was nice (i mean it didn't break into pieces when i use chopsticks), however the sprouts was little bit off. Maybe it's not busy enough? I didn't mind tho but I'll be happier if they were crunch and sweet fresh.
For next time i will probably get a small one with something side, they look delicious.
我现在几乎不会推荐hopkins street上的越南米粉了,这家就好喝的汤,也有韧度的米粉,牛肉给的量就一般而已。所以呢,我也许会推荐另外的一家比较好。

Had a really lovely and authentic pho with beef brisket. Not overly generous on the meat, but a pretty decent portion size for a small size ($10) - definitely couldn't have ordered any larger. The broth was light and well flavoured but was boosted by fresh chilli and chilli sauce.

But...major food envy with the bun cha gio (vermicelli with friend spring rolls). I've never seen spring rolls in a noodle dish, and it looked amazing!

A Melbourne-must.

The soup sorta hit me like whoa! I've been here once before but it surprised me how tasty it was. The soup was so fragrant. Worth noting is how light of salt the broth was, and the meat toppings were nice. I would've liked having beef balls on my combination soup (I couldn't because I ordered a small soup) but the quantity provided was more than filling.

A return trip has been booked.

We have been patronizing this place for almost 11 years and the standard has always made its mark. Soup base is perfect, the noodles are cooked just right and the sliced beef is tender. I also enjoy the vermicelli with spring rolls. Highly recommended. Always packed.

This is by far the best place to eat authentic tasty Pho in Melbourne. Never too busy and always happy and attentive. Been coming here for years and i dine here at least once a week. Forget your Richmond places or the rest in Footscray as Saigon Pho have a depth of flavour to their broth no one else does. Super thin slices of tender rare beef, tasty but not too fatty brisket and eye watering hot chilli beef soup. If you come here try the Sour Sop or Avocado smoothie with anything hot they will open your eyes and palate to new flavours and textures, and sooth your chilli burn ready for more delicious Pho.

This was my first time having Pho so I can't compare it to others. The Medium bowl of Vegetarian Pho came in a huge bowl and it only cost $10-great value for money! The broth was quite tasty and the soup was packed with vegetables, noodles and tofu. The tofu didn't have any seasoning so was quite bland but you could add sauce if need be.

I also ordered the vegetarian spring rolls and while the pastry was nice and crisp the filling tasted a bit weird and the dipping sauce added no flavour (would be nicer if it was less watery).

The waiters were very friendly and the service was efficient.
The Melbourne Local
Despite its city location, you won’t find a suit in sight, although free Wi-Fi makes this a popular workspace so during the day the place becomes a sea of laptops. Behind the cafe area in the front is an enormous room used as an exhibition...

Saigon Pho is in Footscray. Its near the Little Saigon Market outside of Sen. There is a second one in Carlton. About five other people have written about it... so far no one has blogged about it in 2013. So here is my review. They opened just before 9am in the morning. Oddly enough it wasn't all that busy. But the market was though. The guy that served me looked really surly. Maybe he just got up. The bathrooms are out the back and for the ladies you had to get a key. I have no idea why they keep the door locked at the ladies when they don't for the gents. Inside was dirty. There was free tea but I was more hungry than thirsty I had the vegetarian pho. They come in three sizes: small ($8), medium or large. I chose the first one as I can never finish a medium, let alone a large. The broth needed a lot more flavour in there. It was really bland. But the veggies and tofu was cooked perfectly though. Oddly enough the noodles was a tad bit overcooked that they broke. It was a tad bit bette

Tasty. The service is extremely fast and very friendly. But no eftpos :(

Omg. A lot of people swear by Hien Vuong for pho in Footscray and they're definitely not wrong- but this place is definitely my fave pho joint. It's a bit quieter and more relaxed and their pho ga is RIDICULOUS. It's so good. The broth is so clear and aromatic. I go here way too often. Oh and a small bowl (waaaay big enough for me) is only $8!

Blink and you'll miss SP, as I did, but don't. It's well worth the persistence. I opted for the beef n chicken combo noodle soup which was fresh n tasty. Highly recommended

Been to Vietnam many times and cannot find a pho as good as this one. Love it!

Been going here since I was practically born! My parents have been going here for over 20 years and we still go at least once a month. Best Pho in Melbourne by far. Staff are friendly, service is quick and the food is AMAZING. I recommend this place to all my friends. It is definitely a winner!

Definetly the best Pho destination in Footscray. Consistent, good service and good quality. All we can really ask for in any Pho joint.

I have been trolling around town for amazing pho! Saigon pho not only had an amazing flavour but the customer service was excellent. Footscray is not known for its good service but here they could not do enough for myself and my children.

Best Pho out of Saigon:)

The best. After 12 years and eating widely in Footscray this is still the best for pho and broken rice.
Ruby
Best sweet and sour battered chicken, yummy :)

Hmm... Nah.. It's not one of the best Pho places around, you can definitely find somewhere with a better vibe, every time you go (and I've been a lot), there are constantly crying children, running around, dirty floors and just a very loud place, I barely spoke to my woman in here, it's nice for a quick !!!cheap!!! mediocre feed though! Find a better Pho place.

I don't know what you guys have been eating here, but I thought the pho from this place could use a little more flavor... I like the pho at Hung Vuong better... Went on a weekday lunch break and got crappy service... The guy who took our order only got us one bowl of pho when we ordered two... I guess he didn't understand our order... But that's not a good excuse since Hung Vuong gets my order right everytime, and that's even during peak hours...

My favourite pho in Melbourne. Great price, always friendly staff

Pho-bulous!. Came here when wanting to try something different in terms of Vietnamese in Footscray. Got the vermicelli with springrolls and grilled pork, my partner got classic rare beef pho. Soup was delicious and not too salty, with a very hearty, silky taste and the beef was very tender. My vermicelli was fantastic; noodles weren't slimy nor mushy, springrolls were crisp and the meat was bouncy and soft.
Service was gracious and prompt.
Speaking about service... funny story: I take out my denture every time I eat (not only because it's easier to eat but it also allows me to taste the food to its full potential). I wrapped it i a napkin and when I finished my meal I accidentally left it on the table and left the restaurant. When I got home, I panicked once I realised and rang them up. They told me they found it when cleaning up and that I was most welcome to go over and pick it up. I raced over there and found they had stayed in after closing time just to return it to me and wouldn't accept my money as a reward for their honesty. I will always remember this place because I have never felt so humiliated, silly, but most importantly, appreciative of the most genuine customer service I have ever experienced!

Saigon Pho truely delicious!. I have tried both Footscray and Carlton's Saigon Pho and I must say, I was quite impressed with the broken rice at Saigon Pho Footscray. The food at Footscray was simply delicious and the next day I was so full because I ate so much! Saigon Pho Footscray was the best vietnamese resturant I have ever been to and the food there was DELICIOUS!

We first tried the new branch in Lygon St. That was impressive. The soup was sweet and flavorful. The springrolls never fail. And their broken rice is just simply yummy! Then we were told about the original branch in Footscray. We were told it was better and thus we were really eager to try it out. However we were disappointed. The food was mediocre at best compared to the Lygon street one. One plus point was the coconut drink which was refreshing and good! Will give the Footscray branch another chance soon, hope we aren't disappointed again.

Try their broken rice!. I know the name of the restaurant is "Saigon Pho" but it's really their broken rice that is worth going back for. Grilled Chicken with Broken Rice is my all time favourite!

Clean, yummy and professional. They have just opened a new branch in Lygon Street, Carlton. It met all of my expectations and more. The food was neatly presented. It doesn't have a lot on the plate like in other vietnamese restaurants but it was substantial. The clean and oriental decor was a pretty sight. But the best thing about the restaurant is that the "right taste" was in the food. It doesn't have an extensive list of choices of food but I guess they're concentrating on what they make the best. I'm glad they've opened this up as it is conveniently close to my workplace. Thanks Saigon Pho!

These guys just set up shop on Lygon St Carlton. If you're not keen on the Vietnamese fare in the CBD and don't want to be travelling out to Richmond then this is a great pit-stop. Look for Peter and he will take care of you!!

Great all rounder but not the best. Pho was well done but I think the nearby Hung Vuong has fresher ingredients and tastier soup. I also noted that their spring rolls are smaller than at other venues.

With that said I can't fault Saigon Pho - good service, good food and very competitively priced. It's just not a stand out.

Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me and the entire Vietnamese race, there are people frying.. If the world operated the way SP operate, it would be a better place. The service is humbling, good is not good enough to describe. Even the owners are humbling. You know how you operate in front of a priest or a monk, you always behave better in front of these types of people, not sure why. I just want to be a better person when I'm in SP.
OK, for those that don't know, the broth is an important component of pho. I didn't say the most important. There is no most important ingredient in Vietnamese food, Vietnamese food is about everything being the most important ingredient because only then do you get the 'blend'. It's like coffee, you can't have superior bean, and inferior milk, to make a good coffee, both need to be in harmony to make the perfect cup. Same with Pho and also Vietnamese food, the broth, the meat, the chilli, the coriander, the temperature, the lemon all need to be top notch to be the best, because only then does everything blend, and everything work. I don't think I've made myself clear. The simplest concept with Vietnamese food is about blending salty and sweet. Lifting the bar, this means, blending different flavours, mint with chilli, fish sauce with sugar etc. This is the difference between Chinese food and Vietnamese food, Chinese food is amount explosions in your mouth, Vietnamese food is the subtle in the flavour, that's why people say Vietnamese food is more fresh, more healthy, and you don't have a bitter after taste.
SP, does not have the best broth. I was told that in Hong Kong, when they make broth noodles, the massive pots in the kitchen, are NEVER turned off, that is, the broth (made of beef bones etc) has essentially been cooking for 40 years, never to be turned off. Bones are just added everyday, with the broken bones (broken from too much boiling) is sifted away. That's why the broth is SOOO rich. I don't know whether to believe this or not, but think about it, if it's always on, it will never go off, cos its constantly boiling. SP do not do this, broth is fresh every morning.
Secondary hints that you can check for which make a good pho, which SP do, the bowl comes out and the broth is still bubbling, hot broth is needed to ensure rare beef is cooked, the lemon and chilli is fresh. Another good think about SP is the servings, its huge, big is better bigger is best. White ice coffee, is exactly how it should be, except observe, white ice coffee should not be drunk from a straw, be cool man, that's not how its done.

Friendly service and fresh ingredients. I know there are heaps of places around that sells Vietnamese noodle in Footscray, and I honestly can't tell much of the difference between one to the other. But one thing for sure, I always enjoy my Vietnamese noodle or broken rice at Saigon Pho.

Another very positive thing about Saigon Pho is their staff friendliness and professionalism, unlike most other places in Footscray where they seem to hardly care about customer service.

Also, the basil leaves, bean sprout, and the lettuce (these are the vegies that come at the side when you order Vietnamese noodle) are always fresh, never wilted (unlike some other places).

So, overall, the food may not be outstanding amongst other places in Footscray, but I'm definitely liking Saigon Pho for their customer service and the fresh ingredients they use.

Don't get me wrong - if Saigon Pho were in the CBD, or in Fitzroy, it would be quite passable. But again, proximity weighs in. It's half a block from Hien Vuong Pasteur, Hung Vuong, and about a block further away is Pho Chu The. So the availability of qua

As would be expected from the name they specialise in noodle soups along with a few rice dishes. We both went for varieties of Pho and the bean shoots, basil lemon and chilli arrived promptly.
