Not only is this easily the best vegitarian resterants I have ever eaten at in 4 seperate countries, but it's some of the best Asian style food I have had even if you count when I did eat meat, definitely bring your carnivorous friends here they won't be disappointed.
The servings are decent sized and really well priced, their service is exceptionally fast and they are always happy to give recommendations if you are unsure of which dish to try.
I literally sat in peak hour traffic today for almost an hour extra today just to eat here š
Vegetarian food at its best. We have eaten at vegetarian restaurants all round the world, but we still love this place the best. Good fresh food and lots to choose from.
It is the best place for vegan/vegetarian meal, I am not one but my daughter is and she is in heaven when we dine here. The food is hot, tasty but can be busy. Staff are very friendly, we go time and time again!!
Great food at really reasonable prices. There are loads of seating especially in the outdoor area.
Service is attentive. The food comes out quite fast.
We will definitely be back for more great food!
Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Food was absolutely š delicious. Beautifully presented and full of flavour
Good Malaysian veg restaurant .
Good food n service , will recommend to friends . We go there lots.
I have been going to Vegie Bowl since it was out the back of Doncaster, always been very high quality and fresh. Always good service and quick too. Have eaten in vegetarian/vegan restaurants worldwide and this one compares very highly.
I am going there for lunch today infact.
Great food! Staff are so friendly
only criticism is not enough vegetables in the dishes containing mock-meats

We have been going to Vegie Bowl for over 2 years! Excellent - food, quality and staff! Have never been disappointed.
Amazing!!!! I am seriously obsessed with this place! So delicious!
Fantastic and easily vegan. Staff warm and helpful. Great prices
Great vegetarian food. Very authentic and tasty.
I got the Singaporean noodles, black pepper steak on rice and nasi lemak. The food was very delicious, I couldnāt tell it was vegan. The portion was generous and my favorite was the Singaporean noodles! š¤¤ It was so delicious I ate it so fast and forgot to take photos! The skewers were so full of flavor and the peanut sauce complimented the dish very well! If you're looking for vegetarian ready meals I highly recommend trying vegiebowl!Ā
After a few months of consistent takeaway, we decided to spend a birthday dining in. We were not disappointed! The food came out so incredibly fast and the staff were very kind to take our birthday cake and serve it later as a suprise down the track. Their mock meat is absolutely the highlight, it's texture is better than actual meat in my opinion and their flavoursome sauces and spices match!
We felt very well cared for overall. Their menu has a great variety that will suit different budgets too.
Whenever Iām in the area I go here! Quick service & yummy vegetarian food with meat replacements. My favourite is the satay chicken skewers & honey chicken with fried rice.

Three people with various dietary needs were well accommodated hereZ adding meat names to tee menu was confusing as we area seasoned vegetarians. The Pipa Tofu was good plus the nasi goreng was spicy and tasty the entree serve of dumplings was very nice.
The menu is extensive so allow yourself some time to choose. The āmeatā options confused us at but we got our heads around it. $15 each for after meal. BYO was a nice touch.
Notes: excellent parking, wheelchair friendly, kid friendly, staff are very helpful.
Thought we'd try something different, not Vegetarians but willing to try all foods styles.
Not the cheapest pricing but serving sizes certainly add the value back.
Overall a pretty good experience, Staff friendly & plenty of Meal options to choose from.
Had a lovely lunch with family, we sat outside. Service was quick and food was delicious. Loved that we could stay outside even after they had closed for the afternoon so they could get ready for the dinner service, the wait staff provided us with a couple of bottles of water and told us we could take our time. Would definitely go again, they catered for our dietary needs. Definitely recommend.
Great place serving healthy alternative meals
Vegan and vegetarian friendly
Food served promptly with great taste
Staff members very friendly and happy to assist
High recommend this place 5 stars!

It was my first time visiting Vegie Bowl, but it surely wasn't my last.
I ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork with fried rice and really loved it! Yes, food is expensive but serving size is great! So I wouldn't mind paying a bit more.
Service was wonderful too. Very quick staff!
This restaurant serves pretty good vegan/vegetarian food and is a great place to take any omi friends too. Food is well priced and servings are quite large. In comparison to quieter times that iāve eaten here, I noticed that on a busy Saturday night the service was quite mediocre. Nevertheless this restaurant is pretty good, with majority of meals hitting the mark on flavour.
THE BEST MOST AFFORDABLE VEGAN FOOD! BEEN HEAPS OF TIMES NOW! Iāve been able to come plenty of times with my omni friends too and they loved it just as much as me!
Came here with my father and partner tonight, Iām new to vegetarianism and they are meat eaters. They both had doubts about the taste of the meal, but once the food came out we were all stunned by the taste and ālikenessā of the mock meats to the real thing. Every dish we had was really great and we especially enjoyed the satay skewers and crispy roast duck dry noodles, they were outstanding. The service is friendly, and meals came out at a good pace despite being very busy. The only thing this restaurant could use is a decor update, it is quite tired, but the amazing food really made up for it. We all canāt wait to come back.
The honey chicken fried rice and the chicken rice is really awesome! Should eat there as the atmosphere is quite good and especially the food is tasty and wonderful!
Friendly, prompt service. Great for casual veg dining and very reasonable prices. Their curry laksa soup base/broth is the best, hands down, in Melbourne.
Very nice place for vegetarians. Most of the dishes are made of beans. We tried different dishes, very nice and tasty. Service is very good.
Really enjoyed my meal here tonight. I had the pe pa tofu which was delicious and so was the lobak. Staff extremely efficient and friendly. Will definitely be back !!
A little pricey but great variety of food, and extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Always a pleasure bringing the family to dine here.
The service here is always super quick and the staff are extremely friendly. The two dishes that I always order are the BBQ Pork Buns and the Peaking Duck. Before being vegan I used to love these, and it sucked when I could no longer eat them. That was until I discovered Vegie Bowl! And now I can have these whenever I like. They can veganise pretty much any dish on their menu.
Great vego food, honestly could barely tell the difference that it wasn't meat.
Ambience: Small resturant with homely vibe, its defs intimate and great for a fam dinner or to catchup with friends locally.
Service: Good services overall, nothing bad with my experience.
Food: Ordered the lemon chicken, four seasons platter, birds nest and gogi berries spinach. They were all super tasty and decently portioned, four platters feed the 5 of us well. My fave was the lemon chicken and birds nest, unique texture and flavours were really nice.
Absolutely love this place ! Inexpensive yet great quality vegan and vegetarian food that tastes as good if not better than the original meat meals theyāre inspired by. My friends and I love to come here frequently to enjoy the Nasi Goreng, satay skewers and prawn crackers. The staff are all extremely friendly and accommodating. Meals are brought out quickly after ordering and exceed expectations of flavour ššš
Was so excited to try this place and was not disappointing with the food at all. Everything we ate was vegan and tasted like any other Chinese i had eaten before going vegan. I particularly enjoyed the lemon chicken. i am keen to go back and try more of the dishes.
Was good. Food not too oily but some veggies a bit hard. Fake meat was good but some textures were a bit off (still very good, itās not real meat so canāt have too high expectations) pleasant suprise from an omnivore.
This place is closer to Forest Hill or Blackburn than Springvale and has on site parking and a big outdoor area
Service was quite slow at times as the waitresses seemed quite young and inexperienced. They were very friendly and helpful once they arrived at our table and good at recommending dishes.
Curry laksa was good but there was way too many noodles.
Sizzling prawns was quite spicy but tasty.
Shark fin soup was delicious, much better than the wonton soup or hot and sour soup. Hot and sour soup looked red and was too spicy for me even after requesting for "mild"!!
Steam fish was tasty too but got spicier by the mouthful.
Tofu claypot seemed like a popular dish and it was one of the winners.
Lamb claypot was also very flavorsome.
Salt and pepper mushrooms were ok as the batter was too thick.
Winner was the five spiced duck (without sauce) consisted of fried beancurd skin, nice and crispy.
All the dishes ordered came in decent servings at around $20 each.
This place is open for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, highly recommend it!!
Update: Chinese broccoli, spinach with mushrooms were too oily.
Always wanted to come here after driving past on springvale road, appeared to be always busy from the street. Went tonight it did not disappoint, so delicious!!! This is a must. All menu items can be turned vegan!!
One of my Favourite vegan restaurants, beautiful Asian food! I come here all the time for lunch and dinner and it never lets me down! Staff are so friendly and welcoming. The "chicken" rice is to die for and is a vegan's dream
Love this place so much, the menu is brilliant. Staff are a little bit awkward and aren't very welcoming but the food is well priced, well thought about and tasty. Have been here multiple times.
Oh and they do a vegan honey chicken WTF YES!
Loved it. As vegan there are things that we can't eat, but not now Vegie Bowl offers fabulous vegan dishes that replicates the non-vegan items. YUM!!!
Great service, nice atmosphere, clean, really yummy food, however the tofu noodle soup could do with a bit more flavour, but everything else was really good. Definitely want to return and try more things.
No good for coeliacs. If you're simply a vegetarian or vegan this place will suit you well. Lots of choices, quite tasty and reasonably priced. However they're advertised as having gluten free options and there's only 2 items on the extensive menu that can be made GF. So if you're GF and like sweetcorn soup and sweet and sour "pork", you're all good, but otherwise try somewhere else.
Exploring Melbourne's restaurants as a vegetarian is fun, but often limiting. Having places like Vegie Bowl just provides such a nice way to let loose and eat everything on the menu - something I can't do at most places! Not only does Vegie Bowl provide a hugely diverse menu of Chinese/SEA food that harks back to my childhood, the stuff tastes really, really good. We ordered the sweet and sour "pork", mapo tofu and lemon "chicken". The "pork" tastes better than the real deal, the "chicken" looked freakishly legit and tasted just like lemon chicken should (though the seitan texture was a tad soft) and the tofu was pretty good too. Not to mention the unlimited rice refills (that we didn't need, but still)! We'll definitely be back to try everything else.
Excellent food tonight! Went out for my mothers birthday and we got a few dishes to share and entrees. All arrived incredibly quick and were absolutely delicious, will definitely continue to come here!
LIT!: one of the best places to go for vegetarian food that I have tried. I'm not vegetarian but was surprised at how flavourful everything tasted. We've been many times and would recommend to any vegetarians go try it. Lemmon chicken here goes off š
NOT SO LIT: I question how healthy it is. Oh well we will be back. Thanks for having us!!
My mum absolutely loves this place as she is a vegetarian. We have been here a couple of times and their faux meat is pretty good. A lot of their items are fried, so I think making sure you get a mixture of fried and not fried will improve the experience.
I was very impressed with Vegie Bowl. Vegetarian purists may argue the creating meals with āmock meatsā is crazy, however to me this was not about imitating meat, but expanding the culinary scope of vegetarian eating to a vast array of new textures and flavours. I canāt say anything we had tasted like the āreal thingā, but that doesnāt matter, the food is, in its own right, fantastic.
Obviously, the word has got around about this place, as it was pretty full at 6:30PM on Saturday, and even with a lot going on, the service was friendly and fast.
In our case (only 2 of us) we had a limited selection of what this place has on offer. Our Satay was incredible and although it tasted nothing like beef or chicken, it was to die for good, who cares? The Lobak was good, but could have been a little firmer. For mains, we had Randang which was very tasty and well spiced. The only let down was the Scallops and Vegetables, which was a little bland (A little Chilli Oil and Soy helped though). Having said that, the dishes coming out to the other tables, looked absolutely fantastic, so more to try later.
So if you like Asian, want a HUGE selection of interesting dishes to choose from, and are Vegetarian (or Not), this is a great place to try, and I am certainly keen to come back and try more.
Cheap, good food, lots of vegan options, however, quite salty and possibly the use of msg. Won't stop me coming back though. Great family restaurant that gets very busy, so best to book.
An amazing restaurant for your good old Chinese/Malaysian style cuisine. Although it may appear that they have meat on their menu, everything here is vegetarian and can be made vegan. I cannot recall the countless times I have driven past this restaurant with the intention of checking them out. After having been here a couple of times, I donāt know why I didnāt come earlier. Vegie Bowl has easily become of my go to places for vegetarian and vegan Chinese food. Imagine enjoying all your favourite dishes made vegetarian or vegan. I love that itās pretty close to home compared to lets say Fitzroy and I am proud to fully support this little restaurant.
I quite enjoyed dinner here, the service was fantastic, the food was very well priced and delicious.Great vego options, however I would have liked to see a few more vegetables on the plate bit otherwise great!
This place is great for some guilt free yumminess - vegetarian and vegan friendly! The portions are also extremely generous for the prices. We often find ourselves coming back when we crave Asian food and I suggest you try it too!
Love this place. Consistently high quality and lots of options for vegans and vegos. A must visit...keep up the good work veggie bowl you bring a much needed lift to the area.
Something we bumped in to accidentally from Zomato it looked to be an vegetarian restaurant but when we looked at the menu it had all sorts of meat. This was mock meat made of soya, mushrooms and many other things.
Family run restaurant serving amazing food . I particularly like hot and sour soup and paratha with redang curry was amazing. Portions served are good size.
I would recommend this place to all vegetarians and non-vegetarians for a healthy choice of food :)
Enjoy!!
Second visit at Vegie Bowl, the food was consistently great, a typical Malaysian vegetarian dishes with punchy flavour which I like and variety of mock / fake meats. We had lemon 'chicken', five spice 'duck', stir fry bean sprouts, teocheow steam 'fish' and sizzling blackpeper 'beef'. They sound weird for vegetarian food to be named exactly like real meat but most of them are actually made from combination of soy protein, mushrooms and gluten..healthy? Yes and No..
For all the vegetarian and vegan people out there this is the place to eat. They have mock fishes chicken n lots more. Dont worry at all its all vegetarian. All dishes have different flavours. Not to be missed. Great service. š friendly hostesses. Met the owners daughter as well who explained us d concept. Loved the recipes. Will surely visit more often. š
I have gone to this restaurant quite a few times and it's dishes are creative. They make all mock meats from vegetables and it's amazing...have already visited it quite a few times
First time eating here, loved every dish. Highly recommend sweet and sour pork, char kway teow, lamb rendang curry, and salt and pepper king prawns. Will come back again!
good food and quick service, presentation and mock meats are good enough to fool a non vego!! i come here pretty often and it never fails to please š
A lovely restaurant located within the surburbian streets of Forest Hill that has its own car park as well. Seems like they turned a house into a restaurant and local vegetarians and vegans often visit here hence the name.
They also don't include garlic or onion for religious, cultural or even preference purposes which was quite interesting and curious about how they pull off making most of the dishes without those components.
We got served quite quickly and staff was very nice and very attentive. The interior was a little confusing as the canvases of contemporary art on the walls did not suit the homey atmosphere.
First we ordered roti bread with spicy curry sauce, combination noodles with oyster sauce and satay skewers.
Skewers were really nice for chicken mock meat and satay sauce was nicely done with that peanuty touch. Plus it wasn't dry and enjoyable to taste that crunchy texture.
Combination noodles were ok, I understand that it was mock roast pork serviced with tofu and vegetables but I think I would prefer to have more vegetables more for my taste as it was a little bland.
Roti bread was really nice and I would recommend it for a starter. Although the sauce could be a bit more spicy as I could not taste the chilli but the curry flavour was enjoyable and I am really interested of ordering curry dishes next time.
We then ordered 2 desserts, glutinous black rice soup and burbur cha cha (which is a sweet dessert soup that consists of sweet potato and sago and it comes in various different versions). We both really enjoyed the sweetness and highly recommend trying it. Potatoes were soft and the rice soup was delicious.
Very healthy dinner and will be back to try out more.
Vegie Bowl is our favourite restaurant and take away. The food is delicious and we have taken our omnivore family and friends there too and they have also loved the food. Our favourite dish is the Sweet & Sour "Pork" with Fried Rice. The Curry Laksa is a close second, it's flavour is incredible, very filling. If you're vegan just let them know and they will make sure what you order is vegan or veganized. Also I believe all their food is non onion and garlic - although double check with them. Highly recommend others to try the food, so happy this restaurant exists in the eastern suburbs. :)
excellent service, generous portions of good wholesome food and lots of variety to savor. takeaway or dine in Vegie bowl always maintains the standard.
The dishes taste so good. You may forget you are having vegetarian. The fish dish looks like a fish and mince dish taste like mince. Good portion too!
Love this place. Quick service with decent sized portions. Great, affordable options for vegans (and vegetarians and omnis alike!) My favourite dishes are the satay skewers, nasi goreng and salt and pepper abalone mushroom.
Been there twice. Food is delicious. Service is good. Assam fish is my favorite, my kids loved the sweet and sour. May not be the best vegetarian food i taste so far, but I will return for sure.
First time going to an all vegetarian place that serves mock meat and we were very impressed! The pepper beef sizzler was really nice. The char kway teow was very tasty with multiple different mock meats and egg too. The lemon chicken was okay. Rather fatty tasting as the batter was soaked in oil but I think that's normal for that type of dish. Overall great experience. A bit cramped for space in there but would def go back again
One of the better places to eat mock meat (there arent many in Melbourne). Price is reasonable and the service is very quick. The cuisine is fairly authentic (Malaysian Chinese). I am not sure if the cooking has MSG, but it sure is tasty.
Hidden Gem!. Delicious food, good service and good price. The mock meat is fantastic and the best I have ever tried. I highly recommend there special fried rice, I know it sounds simple but they have really nailed the taste. I would recommend booking as it can pack out quite quickly
Decent food reasonable price. Some vegetarian restaurants are overpriced for basically serving gluten and veges. At Vegie Bowl, I found the service quick, food arrived quickly and at reasonable prices. Good range of options. Will head back occasionally when I need to detox from meat!
My favourite veg restaurant ever. Just so delicious. The roast duck noodle soup is one of my favourite things ever.
My non-vegetarian family keeps suggesting we go back, they love it too. The staff are so super friendly. There is nothing bad about this place.
Veggie delight.... Really great restaurant. Delicious loh bak much better than the usual meat filled variety at other places. light and tasty. This coming from a predominantly meat only diner. Not expensive either. have been here 4 to 5 times and haven't been disappointed.
I was unsure about taking overseas guests here to an untried venue. Would the food be bad? Would the service be awful? Do I stick to the nearby vegie place where food isn't awful, but it doesn't blow you away, yet service is woeful? Decisions.... Took a punt and was glad I did. Unfortunately, the snow pea shoots were not available, but the eggplant with roast pork texturly seemed like real siu yuk. Amazing. And the lamb rendang was also very similar in texture. The char kuay teow was also delicious. Service was lovely, no sour pusses like somewhere else I could mention. This is our new favourite place to try out. Note- on a Friday night I would book, as it was pretty full, even early in Jan.
I am not a vegetarian but I love this place! Everything is so tasty and the menu is extensive with Malaysian fare. I would encourage even the biggest meatlover to give it a try! The char Kway teow and laksa were especially good.
Yum Yum vegetarian. We dined on a Wednesday night & by the time we left it was packed. Delicious & inexpensive & all the meat on the menu is mock meat. It was so busy that once we had finished there was a small queue at the door & the waitress kindly asked us to settle the bill as there were more customers waiting. Good for a quick meal. BYO alcohol.
Great tasty food!. Their Lobak and Nasi Lemak is fantastic and good prices, the satay skewers had a great sauce but rather thin skewers. Will try further dishes.
Best food we've had in Melbourne so far, was trying to find a Malaysian styled restaurant that was vegetarian with no onion or garlic. Perfect for us. And the servers were very friendly!
My favourite dish was the abalone with oatmeal, and second favourite was the veggie fin soup, very comforting. Hope Veggie Bowl will open up a restaurant in Gold Coast or Brisbane one day!
We had the fried fish, 5 spice duck, mixed vegetables and claypot sea cucumber. The texture of the fried fish was pretty spot on. Overall, a decent 3.5 star meal and the good service lifts this to 4 stars
First time order and very impressed. The food was very very nice and both my wife and I really enjoyed the taste and quality of ingredients. Special Fried Rice (no egg) was excellent - not oily and great accompaniment to the two main dishes - Braised Tofu with Vegetables and Beef Black Bean. The tofu in particular was big and juicy, and the mock meat beef (and even the pork and chicken in the fried rice) tasted fantastic. And the sauces were delicious when mopped up with the rice. So yummy. As vegans this is definitely going to be our go-to regular Chinese restaurant. What a wonderful discovery! Well done!
Highly recommended place for vegetarian dishes. Our go to place!
Can't recommend them enough
Gosh! Do I love this place!!!
Went here after lockdown, the staff were great with following COVIDSafe rules.
The FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! It was great to be able to choose vegan options of everything on the menu. We had dumplings, spring rolls, nasi goreng, and some soupy dish. The taste and quality of the food was fantastic, and the ambiance of the place was decent. Service was timely. Canāt wait to go back and try other things on the menu.
Delicious vegetarian food and efficient service. It is hard to believe that there is no meat or fish on the table. Definitely worth a visit.
100% vegetarian. All names are non vegetarian. Satay chicken must try. I ordered sweet and sour pork kids will like it. So many options have make many visits and good quantity. Good staff.
