Aa a Persian, high quality of foods and freshness remind me back home. Every single dish seems prepared by a specialist. Obviously, Honesty and hard working is their policy. I always invite my persian and non-persian friends there to show off about the food.
Thanks for high quality food and friendly service. I do appreciate it.
Honestly the best persian cuisine I’ve tried in Melbourne great foods and great customer service
And such nice staffs
The Irani meal the delicious in Forest Hill is good place.
غذای بسیار خوب با طعم و بوی ایرانی، سرویس مناسب و برخورد محترمانه. حتما دوغ مخصوص رو امتحان کنید

Loved it. So lucky to have such a gem as our local.
Great taste of Iranian cuisine!
I recommend to all to try it at least once!
Great food! Everything is freshly prepared. Really nice people. And great prices. I will definitely be going back again soon. Smoked eggplant dip was amazing!
The service and food were really good and affordable.
Service was quick and friendly. Dishes were tasty, generous and reasonably priced. Would recommend.
Don’t be fooled by the exterior of this restaurant, hidden amongst the suburbs - it’s a cosy little restaurant with all the flavours ready to burst on your tongue!
The chicken skewer was to die for - smoky in all the right places. The lamb was well done as well. We also had okra stew with meatballs, which was packed full of great seasoning. An interesting dish that I’ve never seen anywhere else!
Each dish comes with either saffron rice or pita bread, and side salad so you definitely will not walk away hungry from here. Large portion servings, good food and priced well to top it off. Was so full but will definitely be back to try some of the dips and the dessert!!
Been there many times and this small and humble restaurant always busy! Friendly and happy chef and staff! Foods and drinks are always tasty and delicious! Big portion too! Today, I tried the lamb shank and oh boy the meat was so tender and fell off the bone! The saffron rice always fluffy and yum! I really enjoy their homemade yoghurt drink as well as their homemade ice cream too! Persian tea is a must to try with the rock sugar too! Great restaurant honestly!
Restaurant is extremely busy on weekends, so much so that we had to wait around 15 mins for a table despite having a relatively late night booking for two people. However staff are incredibly polite and welcoming and did there best to accommodate us. The quality of the food is excellent and very authentic. We had the Caspian Mixed Kebab and Zereshk Pulao, both were very well prepared and flavoursome. The standout dishes at the kebabs as is the case with many Persian restaurants in the area so make sure you get at least one of these. Would visit again soon, although larger groups may struggle to find seating
It definitely is the best Persian restaurant in Melbourne. I am really impressed. The food is authentic, delicate, not too spicy and adequately priced. Even if tiny, this place has a nice atmosphere and good and competent service. BYO a bonus. I will certainly return and I can surely recommend it.
We have been here about seven times. The food is wonderful and the people are eager to please. A warm atmosphere. They just need a bigger place because they always seem to need to turn people away. So book ahead. Truly lovely Iranian food.
Amazing Persian food, great quality with very reasonable price, excellent customer service! I’ve been to many Persian restaurants in Melbourne but these guys variety and selection is unique. Highly recommended
This is a great little place. The people who run the restaurant are always welcoming and personable. And the food is very good. We have been here about 6 times now, and on each occasion, the food has been delicious. We typically have dips and bread to start the meal, followed by a kebab, stew or rice dish of some description for main course. Everything we have tried has been tasty and well prepared. On our most recent visit, we also tried some of their desserts (we had the saffron ice cream and the Faloodeh Shirazi). Both were very refreshing and palate cleansing. Each dessert had a lovely under taste of rose water. We enjoyed them very much. The restaurant’s prices are also very reasonable. We will definitely keep coming here. It is a hidden gem in the Eastern suburbs.
Ordered the makhsoos that comes with two meat skewers - chicken fillet and minced lamb.
When arrived both had an even amount of good char on them from the charcoal grilling method, meat aesthetics in on point. There was plenty of rice and they're fluffy and coated with butter maybe?
Chicken was well marinated and taste good, the marinade even seeped into the meat. Flavour is mild and I felt it could be stronger. The lamb on the other hand, was real good. Nicely seasoned with different spices, had a nice texture without being dry. Minced lamb was the favourite of the two.
Overall, a very very full and satisfying meal for one, the minced lamb skewer is a must try. Will visit again to try the lamb fillet skewer and other stuff.
This is the best Iranian restaurant I have ever tried in Melbourne, love the quality of food, especially the lamb is so soft and tasty, well-cooked rice and excellent cucumber yogurt. The staff are nice as well. The restaurant is clean with soft music. Love the atmosphere there, all the costumers and staffs were smiling all the time. The price is so cheap with big amount and good foods. Definitely will go there again. Helpful tips, better call them to book a table before visit there, they are quite busy sometimes and I was rejected once when I go there without booking, anyway it’s understandable.
This was definitely one of the best kebabs we’ve ever come across, and undoubtedly the tastiest Persian/Iranian cuisine we have ever tasted.
The generously sized portions, fresh ingredients and perfect execution made this an unforgettable experience.
For a mere $20, one of these platters could’ve easily satiated two hungry guys!

It has been a long awaited visit to Caspian ever since we came across it after having lunch nearby a while ago. Intrigued by their menu, we made a mental note to come by one day. And after what seemed like eons, we finally made the travel effort here that Thursday afternoon.
We kicked off with some Baba Ghanoush and flat bread. As rich and creamy as the Baba Ghanoush was, we found ourselves searching for that smokiness of the eggplants which seemed overtaken by the more prominent tahini.
My Chicken Mushroom Stew was essentially a Persian rendition of curry. Thick, rich and subtly imbued with Persian spices and curry powder, it formed a delicious bond with the saffron rice. Now, that rice amazed me beyond words - super light and fluffy, it was some seriously good rice!
My partner’s slowed cooked lamb neck was very tender and the side serve of jus was light and delicate, yet there didn’t seem to be much flavours permeating from the meat itself. Once again the rice shone here, only this time with the addition of barberries that gave it a sweet acidity pop.
The Doogh was an eye opener for me. We both cringed at the first sip of this yogurt beverage from the salt content, but as I drank on, its unique flavours and slight fizz grew on me and I found myself actually enjoying it.
Service was pretty substandard. Water glasses were set up on the table but no water was offered at any point, although we noticed others after us getting a bottle upon ordering. There was also hardly any presence at the front for most times to grab any attention when needed.
Overall, it was a nice introduction to Persian cuisine. The stew and rice were absolute winners! Pity about the service though.
Amazing food and customer service in a gorgeous setting. Loved it, and will be back. You can't go wrong with the Sultani (or anything else on the menu)!

Wow. The gems you come across if you go looking. This may be my find of the year. If this place was in inner Melbourne there’d be a stampede. It looks like fast food place if you’re driving along at 80kmh on busy Springvale Road. But, it’s actually a lovely little Iranian Cafe with amazing food. It’s nicely set out and decorated with pictures of Iran. There’s a nice colour scheme throughout too.
I received a lovely but low key greeting on arrival. After a quick discussion I ordered the Persian stew. This is a gorgeously perfumed and flavoured stew. It’s subtly but superbly spiced. I couldn't get over the rustic beauty of the dish. It was amazing with close to the best cooked and fluffiest rice you could imagine. It’s a big serve overall. Huge actually. Other dishes coming out were similarly sizeable. The stew is astonishing value for $16.50. Just incredible. It cost about half of some of the ordinary bland pub meals I’ve had in my lifetime.
There was no attempt to upsell anything here. It’s just great food that speaks for itself. I loved this place. There’s lots of interesting things I spotted on the menu. I can’t wait to return.
We went to Caspian to try Iranian food and were not disappointed, the service and food were both great.
Food: We ordered the Chicken and Mushroom Curry and Lamb Kebab with bread. I really enjoyed the curry, it was creamy and flavoursome. Although there was alot of mushrooms and not much chicken. The portions are huge, so youre really getting your moneys worth.
The kebabs were really nice too, the lamb was a bit dry but its countered by the lemon juice and onions provided. Overall, both dishes were very tasty!
Service and Ambience: The servers were super nice and gave good recommendations. It seemed the resturant is enjoyed by the local persian community which proves its authenticity to persian cuisine.
I would definitely come back again and try more of the menu!
The best Persian restaurant I ever been with a mesmerizing flavors of Iran in every single bite. I have been there with my wife plenty of time and still so excited to go back again. Love it thanks foe such wonderful food.
Amazing!! First time having Persian food and I wish this joint moved to the west of melbourne!
Our order took awhile to be served but it was fair as I believe it was a husband and wife that were running the restaurant with another staff and the restaurant was busy.
Had the mixed lamb mince and chicken. The lamb was my favourite. So much flavour with great sides.
We also had the lamb shank with dill rice. That was a perfect dish! I’ve never had so much dill even in rice but it wasn’t overpowering and tasted so fresh! The lamb shank just fell off the bone so easily with a fork. Beautiful flavours.
The only downfall was the traditional drink we ordered and it’s most likely because we’re not used to it but it was the yogurt soda drink. Just wasn’t for us with or without the food.
There is so many more dishes to try at this restaurant and would only return if I’m ever in the area again. Other than that, take your lover, friends and family here for traditional Persian cuisines!
Amazing food and kebabs ,the gentleman at the counter is courteous , welcoming and warm . However, a particular lady was quite grumpy and was unhappy to see my niece ( a year old) spill rice under the table. Her irritation was evident on her face.
The pictures displayed does whet the appetite , but lately they don’t serve the food as advertised in the pictures displayed outside the restaurant . Some ingredients are missing !
Food: iranian cuisine. Meat was slightly tough. Bread that comes with the dips are hot when served but quickly cool and get tough to chew. Rice was great and flavoursome to eat on its own. Ordered >>
Dips baby ghanoush and hommus
Caspian mixed kabab 3 skewers
Caspian momtax kabab 2 skewers
Broad bean and dill rice.
Ambiance: a small place with the right amount of seating. Lighting is a little too bright and contrast with the seating which was a strain on the eyes. Definitely not a place for big tables but for maybe a table for two since food is made quicker.
Service: food took a while to come out, not sure if short of staff or how it just is. Looks like all dishes are brought out at once so some food gets cold. Got slightly hungry as it took a while before everything came out at once. Service wasnt that great.
One of the best rice places and the cold noodle Persian ice cream is just divine! A bit pricy and all prices exl GST which is bit odd. Limited parking at front off street.
UPDATE 03/04/2018
Still genuinely good ...
Another round of grilled Chicken and Lamb ... fantastic.
Meigoo Polo, Shrimp Fried Rice Persian style ... okay, but not the best representation of the cuisine.
Desserts and Tea always enjoyable.

Just concentrate on the taste .....
Ignore the location and the decor, concentrate on their offerings.
Simply exquisitely delicious .... absolute value for money, humongous serving, gotta go back for more. JT-13/10/2017
They have lovely staffs. The food was awesome. We ordered minced kebab and chenge kebab, and their special drink ”dogh”. The kebab was so tender it melted in our mouth. The atmosphere was also good. Some beautiful pictures of Iran were on the wall. Highly recommended!😋
Great Persian food, great prices and friendly staff. Highly recommend for traditional home cooked Persian food. The Maryland chicken with barberry rice and the hommus and Smoked eggplant dip was devine
The best Iranian restaurant that we've ever been to in Melbourne so far!
My favorite was the Fasanjon! And the dips that had eggplant in them were mouth watering!
The dishes were full of different rich flavors and the portions were huge!
The setting was so cozy and authentic.
I'd only make one note that they didn't take off the dishes when we were done with them, and they didn't seem so eager when we asked about the dessert menu. Instead they said they've only got the Saffron ice cream and everything else was unavailable.
But we will definitely go back, as their food gave our senses a beautiful experience!
Good food. Good price. Friendly staff.
Ordered the food and it came fast.
It tasted nice.
I recomend this place to people that like that sort of food.
Had a massive meal with friends for a really good price. I personally love the kebab. I tried the olives too, and I don't usually eat olives. The Persian tea was nice as well. Will definitely go back. :)
In my armchair travels, I've come to learn that Persians take pride in their rice dishes, so much so that it becomes the dining centrepiece and the rest (meat included) are just accompaniments. Caspian proved exactly that. This is in no way a negative reflection on the dishes we had but instead proving the point that the meat complimented the main. Based on my limited exposure to Persian cuisine, I do feel that the food here is more traditional (less mainstream to appeal to the masses) especially their stews. The ambience and decor of this place resonates authenticity and no-nonsense. It has made it into my list of suburban hidden gems.
They have great Iranian food, its homemade and hearty. Took our Aussie friends there and they loved the food. Staffs are nice and friendly and attentive.
Beautiful tender meats! Very flavoursome and generous portion of grilled chicken and lamb with warm bread! A hidden gem.
Enjoyed the late night dinner. We'll be back.
Picked up take-away from here tonight from such friendly staff. Ordered the Joojeh (chicken) and Baba Ghanoush and it was beautiful! Strong smoked eggplant taste which is great. Will dine in next time :)
A small but lovely Iranian restaurant that serves unique and tasty food. The place itself was nicely decorated, clean and neat.
We ordered quite a few different things, it was my first time trying Iranian food and I was quite happy with the uniqueness of the cuisine. The baba ganoush was delicious - creamy, smoked and smooth, served with warm bread. The meat was juicy, tender and well marinated. The lamb stew only had 4 small pieces of lamb inside - quite stingy for $16. The sauce on the fish I found a bit sour, and presentation was not too appetizing. The chicken Maryland was probably the best tasting of the three, however the curry flavor wasn't very unique, it was similar to the curry of other cuisines. We tried the Rosemary and Rice noodle dessert, which we loved because we had never had anything like it before!
Staff were very friendly however I sensed this was a family business, as they seem to lack a few things I thought was common sense in hospitality and waitressing. The main thing was they never removed any of our finished plates - even when I asked the waitress to take away our entree plate she didn't take it away. Even when they served dessert they still left all our empty mains plates on the table, even though we are clearly finished our food 15mins prior.
Overall despite the service it was a positive experience at Caspian and I would love to be back.
Surprisingly good. Went for lunch and had their kebab special which was very nicely done. I have always admired the Persians for the way they do kebabs and this restaurant certainly scored top marks in that regard. I usually dine at Persian flavours which is just next door but I decided to try this place. The chicken was delicious-tender and well marinated. The lamb kebab was also very tender and tasty. I think they beat Persian Room Restaurant in Ringwood as well which I think is one of the better Persian restaurant but a bit pricey. Service was friendly. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience at a very reasonable price. I am planning to return soon.
Very nice indeed. Quite unique and a fair range of dishes I have never seen before. We had kebabs and a pomegranate and walnut curry that was really good. The deserts were amazing. Pistachio and Saffron Ice cream with rose hip grannita.
Would have got 4.0 stars if the bread wasn't a tad stale and the service a little slow.
a place to find some of the rare and very particular Persian dishes with very reasonable prices. People are very friendly, kababs taste good. In overall I will be there more often in future.
Great food. The walnut and pomegranate marinated lamb kebab was a highlight. A few dishes on the menu were not available, but understandable in a small place on a Sunday night, we'll be back again sometime anyway!
Liked the Garlic yugert, Kashke bademjoon and kabaab torsh. Friendly and respectful staff. The rice was cold though, that's something they can improve. But will come back definitely.
First time visit. Let them choose a mix for 3 "hungry" people .. eggplant, rice, chicken, lamb dishes. Beautiful food and different flavours to the usual mix of takeaways. Very good prices and friendly helpful service.
Delicious food. Great hospitality. Neat and clean venue. I was there 2 days ago. I am going again today. Try the Lima bean, dill rice with lamb shank, fantastic. Excellent value for money.
We found the resturant on Facebook and went there to try it. Authentic Iranian food and friendly staff. We tried Havij Polo (chicken, carrot and rice) and Loobia Polo (diced beef, green beans and rice). They were both good and we keep going back since then. If you order takeaway there are two portion sizes, small and regular which is a good thing if you're not that hungry or want to try something else.
A really lovely addition to the little row of eateries here. Service was friendly, hosts asked if we'd had Iranian food before (we hadn't) and were happy to answer any questions we had about the menu. I had the Havij va aloo (chicken and prunes) which had a lovely balance of sweet and savoury, with the barberry and saffron rice. Partner had the chicken and mushroom curry, which I couldn't stop picking at. The mushrooms had soaked up the curry (almost slightly goulash-y) flavour and the dish was creamy without being heavy. Meals were filling and good value for money. As we paid, the host mentioned they were adding some different meals, and tea options, to the menu soon so we will definitely be back soon!
Feel the quality, enjoy the friendly hospitality. Amazing prices.
We tried "Bandary Sausage, Olivieh, Lamb shank and smoked eggplant dip". All tasteful and generous portion.
The place is small. Booking would be required over the weekends.
Fantastic food! High quality ingredients across the board. Excellent service and really friendly people. Every weekend they feature a special item on the menu. I will definitely be back again soon. Very good prices too. 2 courses and tea max $20 a head. Try the smoked eggplant dip 👌🏻
Hami & co. have a lovely little new establishment here, Iranian food here is amazing...!! Recommend if you are in area, Shawarma lovers rec!
