Fantastic suburban gem. Love the kitch gold interior. Entrance via front or back (parking available at rear). We ordered heaps, plus a few beers and BYO corkage and it still only came to $45 a head. Stand outs included the soups, the home made spring roll, and the fried rice. Generous serves, including the amount of seafood in my soup and the number of prawns in my main dish. To round it off, service was polite, prompt and friendly. Definitely worth visiting if you are a local or happen to be in the area.
Used to be an abolsute gem on the Nepean highway that I would visit quite frequently for my Chinese dinner and take away fix! The menu hasn't changed a great deal (neither has the interior of the restaurant) and this place is still a decent place to pick up some Chinese in the area. Sadly, ling Wah is not as good as it used to be, but I'd still recommend visiting for the short soup and dim sims!
Went here with friends last Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. The décor was excellent along with the service from the staff. The food was faultless and we all enjoyed our meals. My wife felt like something in a birds nest which was not on the menu. The manager told us they could do that and they delivered. A great little restaurant down in Frankston and will be making this a regular stop for dinner in the future
Dropped in late (9.45pm) for a quick meal. Ordered Satay beef with Fried Rice ($22). Efficient staff, comfortable old school dining room, comprehensive menu.
Excellent version of satay with tender beef, snow peas, broccoli and carrot. Good fried rice. Very generous serve. Perfect for dinner with the family or take away.
Have been dining here for many years and have never been disappointed. The food and service have been excellent and you can't beat their long time traditional hot hand towels at the end of your meal. Love it!
Nice old school Chinese restaurant. Menu is simple and had all the old favourites. Decor is simple, staff are very friendly and are on top of service. Food is nice and fresh tasting.
Unexpected Treat.... Dined in at Ling Wah for the first time during chinese new year. The wait staff were both friendly and professional. There was a special menu during the CNY and we ended up with a scrumptious banquet meal with 5 courses including desert. We had a delightful experience that was further improved with the unexpected lion dance and fire crackers display. We consider this one of our favourite eateries and will be back for more... Highly recommended, make sure to give it a go
Hadn't been for years and it did not disappoint. Loved it!! Heading back tonight which is how l got here. Craving their fried rice and birds nest.
I like Chinese food n have eaten Chinese food all over Australia and I have to say that, apart from the dim sims, this was the best I have eaten!! The honey prawns were absolutely superb!!! We'll definitely be back!! :-)
Aahh some things don't need to change Great authentic decor. Trying something a little on the wild side.... Enter by the kitchen. The kids will love it Very family friendly Menu has all the classics Go for Mongolian beef And birds nest Staff are very attentive $100 should cover food for four on three coarses Go for the byo as wine list is limited
I had herd Ling Wha was good and it didn't disappoint - we had the standard chicken and corn soup, I have had some ordinary ones lately but this was not! Beautiful!, won tons were yum, crispy chicken wings are worth going back for! Stand out main was the Malaysian satay beef skewers, meat super soft and the satay was amazing! Also had chef selection spicy calamari which was good... Free port at the end u can't go wrong!!!!
Worth it. Food: Great, tasty substantial meals, large menu. Quite expensive but really good food. Other comment by diners with me, some food arrived too cool, especially rice dishes.
Atmosphere: The try to make it authentic chinese, and it succeeds. While getting a little dated, it is a still place to have a great time by all in the group
Drinks: Expensive and a jug of soft drink for kids was $11 each, while they do sell 1.25 litre bottles at takeaway for $3.50?
Service: Couldn't fault the sevice and staff are attentive and happy to please
Like it? Understatement.. Friday night about 6pm went in to order takeaway at Ling Wah. It took longer to decide what to eat than it did for the order to be ready. The food has not changed in quality in the many years I have been going there. The prices some might consider expensive but when you link that with the service you really can't fault them. I've noticed that a menu is not on this site. Ling Wah uses this site http://drinkeatweb.com/lingwah/index.htm for keeping their menu up to date as you will find on their takeaway menu.
Please note if you are going for a quick bite before a movie or something do not do the banquet as you get so much food you will have trouble walking to the car let alone getting to the movies. :)
Enjoy
Great. The Ling Wah run by John and his crew hasn't changed or dropped in my opinion. They are always polite, friendly and very accommodating of most needs. Seating 25 people they did exceptionally well for my sister's 21st birthday dinner with close family! The main meal, you might pay $25, but you feel like you've eaten $50!
In Frankston?. Crazy but yes, Franga has darn good Chinese food, if a little on the pricey side. However, once you eat the specials, you won't be too upset over the cost. Perfectly prepared and very high quality service.
