Review Yummy Pho - Frankston

Matthew Aitken
Come for the friendly service and stay for the food. Don't get the 60s decor put you off from the outside. The menu is very reasonably priced and the service is very quick, we'll be back for sure.

Always a great meal. Sometimes you have to wait for a table, but never very long.

The best vietnamese Restaurant in Frankston. Small place and small team. Please check out the place nice freshly made food and lovely staff members. 😋😋👍

There's a waitress here that barks orders, the exact loud words were "You sit there!" and it wasn't a suggestion! I had to grin as I'm a Faulty Towers fan. The Pho is not great. They don't brew it near as long enough then try to make up for it by adding excess herbs. They got our order wrong. We asked if they could replace the beef strips with vegetables, which has always been fine with no extra charge every other place we've been, as it's a cheaper substitution. The male waiter understood and wrote it all down. We ended up with the beef strips + veggies and got charged extra for that. The beef strips, which we didn't want, had the texture of chewy rubber. We also felt pressured to vacate our seats, with her frowning at my wife's bowl every time she whooshed pass.

Dishes are fine, the spring rolls are really good. The woman who runs the floor isn't overly welcoming, there are plenty of alternatives nearby with better broth (in the pho) and better service, imo.

Great food, staff are really nice, no need to go to Springvale for good Vietnamese.

Delicious! The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food never disappoints. The food comes out really quick. And the price is more than fair. A favourite within my family.

Had to get up and get our own menus as we were shoved in a corner with people standing in front of us waiting for a table for 15-20 minutes. Finally when the other people were seated we actually got acknowledged and ordered after the guy asked "what do you want". He completely ignored my request for the previous people's tea and dirty cups to be moved and fresh tea and cups provided for us. Food was average, staff were rude. My partners noodles were cold and tasted like they had been sitting there all day. Cash only? How dodgy. When we went up to pay he had no idea who we were and stared at us with a blank expression (shows how much attention he paid when we ordered with him). After we told him we wanted to pay we gave him the money only for him to short change us by $8. Didn't realise until we had left as we just wanted to get out of that place. Do not recommend.

My wife and I ate here recently. We shared the pork chops with broken rice, dumplings and vegetarian spring rolls. All the food was really tasty, cheap and served nice and quick. I must say that the staff could do with being a little bit more friendly and accommodating, but overall a good, no frills, local Viet.

Very rude staffs. We came in and they were having a disagreement with the lady next to us about msg. A member of staff took turns speaking to her, one of them said it doesn’t have msg in the soup, one of them said it couldn’t be done without msg then a manager looking staff came and said tell them when ordering and it can be done without msg. My husband had a sore throat so I asked if they can make it without msg because that’s what I heard from the manager looking staff. She rolled her eyes mumbled words that we cannot understand and got another staff to take our order. He said he can’t make it without msg, I said ok and proceed with the order and I thought that was the end of it because I was just looking for a quiet lunch with my husband but the staff keeps coming back saying things like there’s nothing wrong with msg and it’s legal blah blah blah... walks off and comes back debating again and the first staff as well.. but seriously I don’t really care I just want to eat in peace. So rude, never going back again. The food was not great but decent, portion of the large pho was really small.

Never coming back. have been coming here for years now, and always been satisfied with the food, but recently have been pushed to the edge. Have found hair in my meals, a few random pieces of plastic from time to time. My family and I have been so let down lately, we come in to get our usual meals, and are told they have run out of ingredients to make our dishes, yet still charge us the same price. Even though there’s a supermarket literally 2 minutes away, they tell us to order something else or get the same dish minus those specific ingredients but then still charge us for the whole dish. I order vegetarian spring rolls as I don’t eat meat most times I come here and the last few times have discovered they’ve given me chicken springrolls and still charged me for them despite the inconvenience. I usually wouldn’t comment on something like this, but the staff have been terribly rude, the male wait staff have delivered me meals whilst chewing something he’s just eaten form the kitchen, I’ve seen them touching their hair and then touch my dish, touching money and then delivered meals to customers. They clearly don’t know anything about customer service, it’s a wonder how they’ve gotten away with it for so long. It makes me feel sick knowing how unhygienic they are. the cheap prices and average food isn’t worth it anymore, will definitely not be coming here again.

I come here quite often yet I don’t think I will come back again. The staff are extremely rude and honestly have no manners what so ever, especially one woman who appears to be the manager.
The food is good and cheap but it’s not worth it being yelled at and her scrunching her face and saying “huh” 3 times when she doesn’t understand what you’re saying.

Good fix when you've got a cold or looking to warm up in winter. Lovely complimentary tea kept in a thermos, always hot.
As someone who's been to Springvale pho stores, this shop is decidedly average. The broth is tasty enough, but the chicken is just kind of a dry flavourless thing that feels more like a task to eat than an enjoyment.
I've had the pork&chive dumplings which were good, but you devour them in a single bite- they're like a 1/3 of the size of the dumplings at Sasakis- which are amazing by the way.

Haven't tried anything else- but on one occasion my sister and mum intended to buy a few meals to share, only to be told that an entire section of the menu was unavailable! Which how on earth? If it was a few unavailable, understandable, but an entire section? Take it off your menu then!!!

Have been here a few times for lunch and will definitely be back! The food is great and reliable. Very well priced. Would definitely recommend stopping by for some food.

Amazing little Vietnamese place!!! Ingredients are always fresh and staff so welcoming and friendly. The rice paper rolls are seriously good, do yourself a favour and order a serving of the Suimai dum sum- DELISH!

I love the food here! Best Vietnamese I have had that wasn’t in Springvale! Great prices too so you can take the whole family or order for take away to enjoy it in comfort of your own home.

Super cheap, super quick and delish vietnamese. Beef pho is so good, no shortage of options for the little one either. Perfect friday night dinner!

The service was nice and serviceable, but the flavours in the pho and spring rolls were lacking. The plain beef pho was better than the beef and tripe. The crispy chicken with noodles presented dry chicken. Not a personal fave, but not inedible.
Birdy
We had the spring rolls, Sui mai and the wonton and egg noodle soup. Loved all the flavours, the soup was huge. Prices cheap $20 spent and we left thoroughly satisfied đŸ‘đŸ»

Their price is good, my beef and brisket pho was $9.50 for large and $8 for small. The Broth needed more flavours, but my beef was tender. Ordinary pho, but I rather pay around $10 for brunch rather than $25 for fish n chips or bacon n eggs that disappoint you!
Hungry Little Caterpillar
Great little place with some very tasty pho. It’s not the best best looking decor, but that’s when the food is tasty. Will return and try some other menu items
The Inner Fat Kid
So tasty and cheap!
Proper Vietnamese food that I could only otherwise find in Footscray previously! This little place is exactly what the peninsula needed! Honest simple food with flavour and punch!
Wilbur
Cheap Asian cuisine, with delicious rice paper rolls and pho soups!
Heaps of vegetarian options that still have great taste.
Quite salty meals but overall very tasty.
Had the Beef Pho.

Soup wasn't bad, minimal amount of beef and it was terrible and rubbery.
Ordered large, normally I would leave a pho very full. This pho had hardly and noodles and the basil could've been fresher.

Overall. I'll just take the 26 minute trip to Springvale next time.

It is the height of arrogance or just a statement of fact when you call your restaurant “Yummy Pho.” I remember a statement by the great Michael Jordan, when asked about his trash talking, “It’s not arrogant if its’ true.” Now I am not saying Yummy Pho is the Michael Jordan of Vietnamese food but I will say that the food lives up to the name.

The food is Yummy. The Pho is fresh and indeed delicious. It leaves you with a nice clean feeling one where you are satisfied with the meal. So much that you want to spend the next hour just sitting, reflecting on the different flavours as they slowly reside from your mouth. Unfortunately for locals Pho is a quick meal, much like a take-away and it is far more important to move customers on rather than let them contemplate the deliciousness they just experienced.
I can not recommend Yummy Pho highly enough. Bland bland bland. I pretty much eat Vietnamese food every weekend. This was the worst Viet food I've ever had. There was no flavour to anything! We ordered spring rolls, I'll give them credit for it being crispy but that was the only positive. Their dipping sauce and spring roll filling had no flavour at all. The pho was half assed and just tasted like straight up beef stock.. No spice notes at all. The vermicelli noodles with spring rolls and grilled pork was also bland. Will definitely not return here. Rather drive into busy Springvale.

So good for a local, quick soup. It's on par with some of the better CBD locations you might discover. Well worth the regular drive from Dromana or surrounds.

Never dissapointing here. Always get the same awsome food time and time again. Theres nothing here that i havnt enjoyed. Even better that this is my local. Great winter warmer
Five Star
This is the best asian resturant in Frankston.

It’s fresh, busy, and cheap. The pho and noodle soup is always a winner. Good with what the name suggests, Yummy Pho, if you get the duck, just remember, the joints called pho...oh if you want nice service, pay more and go somewhere posh...
Ross McMahon
Noodle soup is very good! So are the dumplings! Really cheap and a terrific alternative to the mission to springvale! I've Ben very happy with everything I've tried from the menu and will continue to come here frequently.
Sophie Kane
literally the worst meal my boyfriend and i have ever had, hardly ate any of it!! i love pho and eat it quite often but our meals here were tasteless. The meats they used were of very poor quality and tasted a bit odd to be honest. Would not recommend.

It's not bad, but there really isn't much choice in Frankston. If there were these guys probably wouldn't do as well...
The serving sizes are much smaller than most places and the flavours are ok.
We asked for some corriander only to be told they don't have any or use any... odd...

I was lucky to live off Victoria St in Abbotsford in my teens and was spoiled for choice for Vietnamese. Whilst Yummy Pho can't compare it's not a bad option considering there's not much else in the Frankston (even Peninsula) area. I was actually so happy to see Yummy Pho pop up on Wells St. It's great for a quick, cheap and cheerful pho and some spring rolls. The kids love it too. Under $50 for me and 3 kids - soups, spring rolls and fried dumplings. Great value :)

Not bad at all !. Pho is pretty good. Comparable to Springvale quality . Servings bowls are smaller than your other Pho shops. Like the other reviewer said. If you CBF going springvale this is definitely does the job. I'm spewing It is not closer to my house.
HazelXie
Not really 'authentic' as people mentioned above compared to restaurants in CBD, if not the Springvale.
But....it's the only (?) Vietnamese restaurant so....still fine for meal out

Delicious. We eat at Yummy Pho about once a fortnight. Food and service are fantastic.
Lucy.scanlan01
Distinctly average. Flavours are ok. I asked for coriander to go with my chicken vietnamese salad to be told they don't have any. Odd considering it's a staple in all vietnamese cooking. Pork and chive dumplings were nice but very small. Just average all round. Better off going to Springvale.
Anne
Delicious Vietnamese pho and more. Always fresh, tasty and authentic flavours!! Great option for a quick dinner before the movies. Really reasonably priced too!!

Stumble into here by chance. Maybe if you never had Vietnamese noodle or vermicelli might be ok.. Not terribly bad but some of the menu is a very strange mix of Chinese Sichuan and Vietnamese. The hainanese chicken rice didn't come with soup. The chilli paste is different to what other Vietnamese place use... Just weird. But edible and okay if you're hungry and not too fuss.

A hidden gem. This place is truly wonderful! Such delicious food and healthy for the wallet too :) Everything is always fresh and tasty. Since this place came to Frankston it has gone from strength to strength, it has a loyal regular customer base and anyone who visits is surely to come back again. Their new menu has more options and includes a great vegetarian selection now too. The owner is lovely and welcoming. We LOVE this place!!!

Yummy. Was delicious. So filling and $8.50 for a large bowl of pho.
Had the beef pho was so good.

We always eat here good clean food every time and very reasonable price. Always served with a smile too I recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean healthy takeaway

Best chicken pho!!!. Looks can be very deceiving, although it may not look like the fanciest resturant yummy pho in frankston has the best chicken pho I've ever eaten and I've had many phos in my time... So authentic, fresh, healthy and delicious, the staff are so friendly and the resturant is so relaxing. Type of place you could go with friends or just yourself. If you like getting your money's worth I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Delicious cheap food, friendly atmosphere. This is a regular spot that a number of my friends and I get food. The pho is tasty and authentic, and the staff are always friendly. Considering the amount of soup you get and the low price, this restaurant is great value. We have found crispy chicken noodle soup, beef pho, chicken pho, deep fried spring rolls and chicken rice paper rolls to be our favourite things on the menu. The rice paper rolls are generally made to order (hence fresh and not clammy like some other restaurants). They do nice vietnamese coffee too. Broth isn't as good as Hung Vuong in Springvale, but no one can beat that place! See you again tonight!
