Review Ol' Mate Coffee - Frankston

Really good avo on toast. They made it nice and fancy with asparagus and tomatoes! Iced coffee was nice but served in a plastic cup for sit in. Staff were friendly and all in all good chill vibes.

It's alright. We came here thinking there will be those amazing pancakes someone posted on google. But we was disappointment there was none. So I had a Dirty bird waffle instead. The waffle was good but the crispy chicken was soggy and the Kim chi did not belonged there. Overall it was okay, atmosphere and service was nice, food meh.

It's not just coffee you get here. The Sticky Chai Tea was awesome - organic leaf style in a small pot. Well worth visiting just for that. But then the food was great too :-)

This is my "Go to Place" whenever in the Frankston area. Friendly staff with quick service. Great coffee and awesome food. So good to know that your food is freshly cooked when you order it and not just plucked out of a Bain Marie. Compliments to the Chef.

Awesome friendly service and great coffee! I had the zucchini fritters with poached eggs absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend and we will definitely be coming back.

Grabbed a bite here on a late Sunday afternoon and where we in for a treat! Friendly staff, well portioned delicious food, and a Mimosa and iced mocha to follow suit!

We had tapas at this place while visiting the Block Party in Thompson Lane alongside Commonfolk. We were surprised to hear that this was a trial of their Tapas menu - the food was of the quality expected from an established evening eaterie. For their first night, it was extremely good food. The Liver Parfait, toast and pickled cherries was my favourite, but our friends also raved about the corm croquettes. Well done Commonfolk Frankston ! We love your coffee, now we love your tapas !

My son said the egg and bacon burger was the best he has ever had! My poached eggs were to die for! Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, with great prices too. Worth a drop in that’s for sure!

Ol’Mate coffee never disappoints. They always pour a nice coffee and bonus that they have a loyalty system. Come in and grab a drink or food!

Legends! Always pour a great cup of coffee. Owner is passionate about quality coffee and it shows. Definitely stop by and grab a cup as you head down the peninsula.

Great coffee and love that 90s music or TV shows are on in the background. They always seem to have some special beans for the week and staff are very friendly.

This is my favourite cafe in Frankston, I have been here numerous times and the food and service is always amazing!
Love the big brekky and the coffee ☕️ The fritters are good too!

Best coffee and service in Frankston. Walk the dogs here every morning and always greeted with a smile - definitely recommend, one of the best things to happen to Frankston

Just moved to the frankston area. I’m a self confessed coffee snob. Looked up this little coffee bar as having good coffee.
It didn’t disappoint. Nice smooth latte with a slight nutty underlying flavour.

Looking for a good coffee place I drive past this cafe and I liked the name so I called in.

The service was really friendly and polite from the barista and my piccolo latte was excellent. There was a really good crema, with a good flavour to the coffee.

They sell sandwiches e.g. a Ruben for $10 and rolls at very reasonable prices but as I was going I put for lunch I didn’t have any food but I saw someone eating a roll and it looked tasty.

If you are in the area and you want a good coffee I’d definitely recommend this place.

These guys do one of the best brekkies around! Scrambled eggs (probably the best I've ever had), bacon and hash browns - yummy. The hot choc was delish. Service was quick and friendly. Hanging out to get back there!

Very friendly staff, tasty meals, quick service and reasonable prices. Bread was crispy, as were hash browns and mushrooms were very buttery. Yum. I love to read the paper, so was glad there was multiple copies. I would go again for sure. Recommend.

My wife and I had breakfast here this morning. We’re new to Frankston but have tried 3 or 4 places now and Ol’ mate is definitely the best so far.

There was a bit of a wait for the food but staff told us when we ordered and it wasn’t a problem. The servings are substantial and everything was tasty and well cooked. The hollandaise was spot on.

We’ll be back.

Nice spot, friendly attentive staff, reasonable breakfast prices. Coffee not too bad; not amazing, but not horrible. Family friendly. Indoor seating and some seating out the front too. The fritters were quite good and so was the eggs Benedict - the pumpkin bread is surprisingly a great substitution for the usual sourdough or rye.

I love this place! I was hesitant at fussy because they have a deceptively simple menu, but everything I've eaten has been delicious. I don't know where they get their breads but they are the team highlight here (and I usually couldn't care less about the bread!), my favourite combination so far is the smashed avo on pumpkin bread. They also make a tasty fresh chai and rich hot chocolate.

Food is always amazing! The coffee is amazing, the service is very good. Best to get in early as the seating area is not massive. I love that cute board games are there to play with whilst you wait for your food. The portion sizes are not massive, which is fine for me but may not suit everyone.

What a lovely cafe in Frankston. Simply styled and well branded. Coffee is on point 👌 I haven't had much luck with food in Frankston cafes but this place is outstanding. Well cooked Hotcakes with great topping. That coffee sauce is just delicious. Well priced and great portion size 👍

Love this place. Always great food and service. I'm often here working on my laptop for a few hours or with the family for breakfast. Fav dish is definitely Benny and the eggs!

Have been here a few times and the food is fantastic, friendly staff and really great coffee from Commonfolk. Love this little local gem- would definitely recommend the zucchini fritters too!

Absolutely delicious brunch! We had Eggs Benedict and Smashed Avo and a delicious iced coffee. We will be back soon for sure to enjoy some more!

Honestly the best eggs benedict I have ever tasted in my life, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon had alot of flavour, the thyme hollandaise was a nice change to normal hollandaise and the pumpkin bread was so much better than a couple of english muffins 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Cute modern cafe with bar tables and board games.

Order at the register, which is the way most cafes in Frankston work, I think this is due to the crime rate. Like paying up front with petrol after 2am.

Ordered the Fritters with bacon and a almond milk mocha. Both can out beautifully presented.
My husband ordered the big breakfast, he says it was delicious too. The presentation needed a bit of work tho.

Fritters had almonds in them, strangely enough, it worked! Was a massive serve with heaps of flavour.

Coffee was lovely, service was great and the price was very reasonable.

Thanks heaps guys

Hi amazing foodies. Sorry once again for the radio silence. Been busy on the job hunt and eating my way through Victoria haha. I am back though and I promise not to disappoint. For those who know me, they would know that I try to find positives wherever I go. So one Saturday morning I decided to go treasure hunting in Frankston, and to my surprise found a beautiful gem of a cafe called Ol’ Mate Coffee.

We ordered eggs on toast as it's our favourite go to! While at most places we struggle to finish it ( mostly out of guilt of food wastage) we were completely full by the end of the meal and there was no struggle. The ice coffee was delish! The staff were friendly and service was great! Would definitely go again.

We love the coffee and the food is always delicious, especially the pancakes! The staff are always friendly and the service is great. The board games are a great idea!!

You know how they say don't judge a book by its cover? Well don't judge a book by its cover. This place is sick. From the outside this place looks like nothing special but on the inside it's a rustic modern cafe with good vibes. The staff are very friendly and the table service was very quick. But the best part about this place is Reuben Sandwhich. Stop what you're doing and go and get one right now. It's incredible. With every bite you get flavour from every ingredient, the pastrami, the pickles, the cheese, the sauerkraut, the sauce. The bread is fresh and toasted to perfection. You can't fault this sandwhich.

I recently discovered this new cafe in Frankston and ventured there for Sunday breakfast. They serve wonderful organic, fair trade coffee from Commonfolk in a relaxed and casual environment on Nepean Highway. The staff members were friendly and helpful, and the menu extensive enough that there should be something to suit everybody. I ordered the Smashed Up Peas - green peas with red onion and ricotta on pumpkin bread with a poached egg and thyme hollandaise. My expectations were high and I wasn't disappointed. Great food! And the coffee was superb too. I can't wait to return and sample something else from the menu.
