Review Food Star Family Restaurant - Frankston

Anita Màree
This place is a great place to go for lunch or dinner if you have a large number of people and it is especially family friendly. There is a wide range of foods from Asian cuisine, to traditional roasts, pastas, salads etc. There is also a dessert bar with fresh fruit,a variety of cakes, slices, jellies and mousses as well as a self serve ice cream area, including different toppings and flavours. It's an all you can eat buffet but extremely hygienic and well presented. Staff go above and beyond and are always pleasant, friendly and helpful. It's a firm favourite with our family and a BIG yes from me.

Its a very casual - family feel here. Don't expect silverware and mahogany furniture, this is Frankston not 40 clicks to the north. The service was impeccable. We were taken care of with haste and care. Look, the place is called 'Foodstar' and unfortunately the food I can't give that many stars. I can only comment on the food that I ate. To me - the meat in the carvery was edible as long as you had one of the sauces or gravy. The pumpkin soup could have been a bit thicker but it was yummy. Nice on a cold night like tonight was! All of the Asian style meals were quite nice for a standard Asian buffet. I tried a little baby octopus and I was impressed. Whatever it's marinated in gives it a tastier experience if you're not a lover of chewing these critters. With a function happening there still was plenty of seating for casual patrons. Unfortunately the store room had no door and seeing hundreds of chairs and random restaurant equipment stacked around the place is a bit off-putting, not go mention dangerous if kids were to stumble upon it. Out of the 5 I think we can do at least 3.6 making it an average eatery for all kinds of peeps. :)

This place needs to close down the service is terrible and the food is terrible! The only good thing about it is the jelly. I went there with a friend paid $28 per person all you can eat the food was not to my liking and I would rather pay $28 for a pub meal.

Although there arent many if any all you can eateries, food star in frankston is the best one i have ever gone to. The food is great, the staff are all too happy to please. The general atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and quiet even when busy. They have wonderful staff with great manners. I would give this place a 10 out of 5 if i could.

Worth the money. Taste similar to 3 choices dish but fair enough food option. Children friendly permit

Not my favourite buffet. But we will come here every now and then. It’s definitely worth the money. They have a variety of Asian food and western food - similar to what you can expect from a food court. I like their fruit region. Recommend to come, it is only just below 25 per person at the beginning of 2020 - another decade. Not too bad at all. Their service is great.

Cheap pricing. Not the best quality of food but they have a few good dishes. Majority is Asian cuisine from the few times I've been there.

not the best dining experience :(

Came here the day before Mother’s Day. But been to Food Star many many many times across the past 8-10 years. Never ever had a problem. Delicious food, what a great variety! Chinese food, hot food, curry, desserts, everything! Even the tea and coffee is free. Very reasonable prices considering it’s all you can eat too. Absolutely stay a customer in the future. Not to mention the very friendly and prompt service and care that is always taken towards customers. Thank You Food Star Frankston. Totally deserves 5 stars! BTW, I love the prawns over there.

Visited this place as per recommendation of few friends there , but honestly dint find it too great .
Food was okay a bit stale though.
I guess it was served days old food.
Service was decent enough.

I suggest you can try here but if u feel food is stale pls ask them to replace.

Came to this place a few times on party functions. I would say that this place is good for small parties without breaking the budget.
The food is pretty much: "you get what you pay for."

we came here first time, there are lot of food options and great for value of money. but just as we finished our food i got stomach upset and had to rush to the toilet in the restaurant itself couldnt wait to reach home and even had to stop at 2 places on the way home. so we like the food options but please be careful on what u present cause we all are human beings and we all pray for the well being of each other. next time please be sure ur presenting gud food and not old food.

The apple juice was so disgusting. Will not come back again. The food was too much flour on it. It not so suitable for oldest. The best things is the waiter is friendly.

Great place for all you can eat for a very reasonable price. The staff are very friendly and polite and definitely will be coming back. They even have a kids TV room and my boys love it very much.

Not the best buffet ever, most of the food is dry and not particularly nice. It is obvious that most of the desserts came frozen and were thawed amongst these is the infamous fridge cake. However it offers good value for money and has nice staff, go there for quantity not quality

DO NOT GO!
The food is so gross!
All sweets were just frozen & thawed. (Cheesecake, chocolate cake)
Jam tarts are just from a packet of Coles/Woolworths tarts.
Fish is basa fish from Aldi.
Potatoes are from a frozen packet.
Party pies are just frozen/reheated.

Words can't describe how terrible & unhygienic this place is

I have been going for every fortnight not because of it cheaper mainly for the very good choice of heathy food. Actually it was really a get value for money
And very good staff.
You can have very good choice of foods and reasonably taste.
I have nothing to complain about the foods.
Im going to rate this Food Star with a four. Im under no illusions for thr type of food being served up here. Ive driven by so many times and thought to give it a go.
Heavy Asian food influence with the usual all you can eat. I was looking more at cleanliness & service and got both. Sure the food was average but Maccas is way worse and yet most people still eat there.
Well done Food Star. I got exactly what i expected.

Disability Friendly?? NO WAY!!
Compassion?? What's That!!

We ventured out for a pre-Christmas family meal, and were extremely disappointed by the attitude of management at this establishment. My daughter who is 12 years old and suffers with profound Cerebral Palsy and is Peg fed, was refused entry into the restaurant unless we were prepared to pay a full all you can eat meal fee for her. Even after we advised them that she is Peg fed and at best would only suck on a few prawn crackers, they still insisted that we must pay the full fee if she was to go into the restaurant. When pulled up over their lack of compassion, they closed ranks. Sadly people like this, make Ebernezer Scrooge look good. Shame, shame, shame!

Spent $59.80 for two people for dinner here. While it is all-you-can-eat dining, some food doesn't look appealing. It is a reasonable cheap restaurant to go to if you want to eat a lot.

Yum. Food is amazing for the price, never been disappointed for the very large amount of times I've been, lovely staff and yeh food is amazing
Missgiggles5521
Disappointing. We should have known the food was not going to be good, when it cost 38 dollars for two people, however we still believed we would be able to eat..The food was limp and it had been sitting there for hours. The decor was outdated and appeared to still in the 1980's ! the overall experience was a disappointment and would not be going back even if the food was free !!!

It's a cheap all you can eat!!!. Lol, for cheap I think it's decent. Don't expect Lobster and Caviar and yeah guess the hot food is cold/dry sometimes(never noticed). Nice staff and free birthday cake made my daughters day.
All and all, you get what you pay for and I think it's descent for the $$$. Birthday parties can be costly so thanks Food Star, got to please my daughter and her guess and still have money left for date night with the wife at a high street resturant.

Ok it's all you can eat so you can't expect much - cold gross greasy food but very lovely staff
Meltaylor32
Old, outdated junk food. Food was disgusting, served on plastic plates and drinks also served in plastic cups. Agree with other bloggers, all the food is junk. The healthy options looked limp and like they had been sitting there for a very long time. Roast was dry and calamari overcooked. I could keep going on but that would take all day. I'm never going back unless there is new owners and an overhaul on the food and premises!! Definitely not worth ever going to new customers

All you can eat. It was nice, food was good for the $$$, service good but kids running everywhere but to be expected

Surprisingly very decent!. I went here the first time years ago and the food was of poor quality and loads of fried junk. However, I came a couple of weeks ago with family and I must say I was very impressed. The quality and taste of the food was great, I didn't even pick up anything on my plate that I didn't enjoy!- very rare for me with all you can eat style restaurants. Wide selection of international foods, the standouts for me are the chicken curry, sweet sour pork, custard buns, roast meat and veggies, and that beef goulash, yum! the place was clean, though a little out dated but yeah not a biggie for me-I mainly care that a place is clean and has good food, and friendly staff. It ticked all of those boxes and I'd give honestly have to give it a 9/10, and will go back again some time.

Grosse.. Cold food that's been there for ages. limp lettuce and very dated atmosphere!

Want to see how an owner feeds an army of Supersized people quickly? Come to Food Star Frankston, the food is as good as you can expect for an all you can eat place. Don't worry, neighbouring tables won't be shy to pile up multiple plates as high as they can. If you're going on the weekends, get ready to have screaming kids get high off soft drinks and fight over the soft serve. Where are the parents, good question! They are still eating and trying to not accept any responsibility for their poorly behaved gremlins. The owners are wonderful and staff clear your empty plates quickly and frequently. Just don't expect fine dining when you didn't pay for it.

Disgusting food!

Good food and Best Price in the town. Foodstar frankston is my first choice for dining. They have many different choices and best service I came across. Most importantly, the price is so affordable.
