Review Propeller - Fremantle

Had the Feed Me Menu - Absolutely divine! We couldn't fault any of the dishes. Flavours were incredible šŸ˜ I will be back for more!!

Delicious meal at Propeller. Some of the best Middle Eastern food in Perth. We had the beef sambousek, mushroom gorgonzola manoushe, BBQ broccoli and fried sweet potato & parsnip. All were delicious!

Totally liked the place. Atmosphere was lovely so was the service. We were 2 and shared 4 dishes BBQ rumb, cooked rare with a nice char Cuttlefish charged with harissa based sauce Silver beet baked Filo beef pockets with cinnamon, very interesting Everything was yum and great to share We had a bottle of Cullen sbs and 2 extra glasses of wine All up 188 for 2 which is the reason why it's 4 stars. Personally I find it on the top end of pricing. I probably come again but it won't be my local Friday lunch place. Parking in the area is free

I would give this place 6 stars if I could! Food is divine. A modern middle eastern feast. Do yourself a favour and check it out.

Beautifully placed on Stirling Highway in East Fremantle. Parking close by. Outstanding across every area - cuisine, ambience and service. Choices of indoor or outdoor dining. Staff are friendly and informed. Since it was also a champagne breakfast, I viewed and was impressed by their beverages menu. Thank you to the entire staff of Propeller for making it more than a breakfast - but an experience in being treated as a special guest, and having the cuisine and ambience to back it up My new breakfast go to for sure.

Delicious food and great service. Really enjoyed all of the flavours, spices and the rose wine we had with our dinner. The staff were very friendly, attentive and helped suggest dishes for us. Definitely recommend and would come back.

Took the wife here for date night. We enjoyed what we ordered but it was a bit outside what weā€™d normally have (got to try new things) Iā€™ve got to admit, the best part of the meal was dessert. Iā€™d rate the dessert 7/5. That really brought up the rating. The rest of dinner was okay. Nothing was bad - everything was prepared perfectly and I canā€™t fault the chefs. In saying that, wasnā€™t really my thing. But that dessert - Iā€™d go back just for dessert.

One of the best meals I've had, top class service. The restaurant has a nice vibe. We had the Chefs Choice which had assortment of share plates over 3 courses. 6 Stars!!

Came here this morning for breakfast after going past it a few times. Ordered our drinks and waited 15 mins for them, which wasn't great but understandable since it was really intense and busy. The letdown though was the staff service. People who ordered after us received their meals 20 mins before we did, enough time for them to finish and leave before we got ours. We asked the short blonde waitress with the bob the status of our meals, she asked where we were sitting and said she'll let us know (never did). Then asked the male waiter who was outside if the meals were coming because at this point we figured that we were forgotten. He spoke very condescendingly about how certain meals take longer than others and how it's busy as if we never ordered eggs at a cafe before. Even when getting up to pay there was no customer acknowledgement that we'll be attended to after a task was done. Basically just disappointing service form all around. The meal however was amazing, it's definetly a unique menu selection for breakfast in Perth. It was the saving grace which is why I bumped it to 3 stars.

We used to love coming to Propellor, and we became regulars. Service deteriorate over time, but was the worst I've experienced in ages when we came for a birthday lunch. We had the 'Eat Well' and the amount of food was pitiful. For the mains we had a small amount of stew, and a bowl of lettuce. We did not eat well. The dessert never changes, and is probably the only dish that lets the menu down (only once were we able to have a different option). I emailed as I felt it was worth saying something because we liked coming, but received no answer. It was a shame, as we had raved about the food to our guests.

One of my favourite places..for a solitary Mimosa and salad, a family lunch or an evening feast with friends...the food is always fantastic, the wine list on point, friendly service, and perfect coffee. Fun atmosphere, sophisticated but not pretentious. Highly recommend.
Rosanne Johnston
Loved the whole experience. Food was great, service was excellent. Our waiter even brought 2 bottles of wine to the table so we could taste and choose the one we preferred. All our questions about the menu explained in a very informative and friendly manner. There was 6 of us in our group and we all enjoyed our meals.

Overall exceptional experience!! Came for a Sunday night meal. Service was prompt and personal, food was beautifully presented and divine, and cocktails made with love! ļæ½ will def be back to try the breakfast menu. ļæ½

My wife and I dined here last night, beautiful location, friendly, helpful staff and spectacular food. Couldn't decide which dish we liked most, it was all so good. Would definitely come back and recommend you try it.

After reading such rave reviews we had high expectations. They were met, meticulously. Superb service, divine food, excellent wine list, beer range and cocktails. The food, yum! Delicious, exciting, beautifully cooked and balanced. Delightful evening.

Had the best dining experience we have had in a while last night... thanks so much for the delicious food, impeccable service and even better wine!

Turned up for the very first time to try this establishment for Sunday breakfast on the recommendation of a friend and just got rudely shooed away by one of their unfriendly staff because we were 5 minutes early from their opening apparently. Way to go with your customer service guys. You can shove your breakfast now. Off to somewhere else,

Great venue to go in the day, after a long walk I was treated to black pudding and put lentils , very generous portion and went down well with cold poke ale. Good friendly efficient service. Thank you
Steven Davies
Last night's meal was possibly the best meal I have ever eaten in Perth. Thumbs up.
Debbie Ashley
Great food in a lovely cafe atmosphere. Staff are wonderful, great food suggestions for share plates. A must for a casual lunch. And they let you split the bill!!

I came here on 12th Jan 2018 with my lovely friends who surprised me for my 30th birthday. All 16 of us thoroughly enjoyed the 'Eat well - Let us feed you menu' which made it so easy to catch up with everyone. The very generous portions and quality of the dishes impressed me, and sadly not many places do in Perth after living in Melbourne for a while! The service staff were very attentive and friendly throughout, which is always a plus for me. Thanks Propeller for making it one enjoyable night. Being a local, I'll be back for sure.

Went for lunch on a Tuesday, first time and loved it even before the food arrived. The ambience is lovely and the waitresses were very friendly and helpful. We had a couple of share plates - quality food. Try it, you won't be disappointed. I'm going back for dinner, thinking it will be even lovelier by the night light
Leah Giumelli
We had a fab night ! The food was amazing and the pisco sours were even better! Thankyou, we will be back soon!

Excellent food and service. We will definitely return and recommend Propeller to all our friends and acquaintances.

Excellent service, staff were very attentive to all 3 dietary requirements at our table last night. Thank you!!

I will be back soon to pay for my cup of tea. Sorry i had forgotten my purse. Excellent staff and excellent service.
Liezil Slabbert
First time visit and will definitely be back! Breakfast was just delicious, good coffee and the service just awesome from friendly staff! You know you've had a great breakfast experience when no other meal during the day quiet lives up to it.
Holly Harrap
Wish I could say I loved Propellor but the service and attitude of the staff was a little off. Shame.
Muse
$14 for eggs any way is overs, normally in other cafes itā€™s $12 and comes with 2 slices of toast. Tried the scrabbles eggs and the amount of scramble on the plate was limited by the size of the single slice of bread. All they need to do to improve it is have 2 slices of toast and the scramble overflowing onto the plate...easy
Sue McDonald, Truly Scrumptious
Propeller is a great venue tucked away on Queen Victoria Street in North Fremantle. Itā€™s a nicely designed building with a quaint sea container for a bar, and there is seating inside and outside. We came for brunch and were impressed by the range of options on the menu. We ordered coffees while we mused over the choices and coffee was delicious ā€“ beans provided by Twin Peaks.
Tamy
Beautiful food. Beautiful venue.<br/><br/>Can't get over our lunch here the other day. The sautee mushrooms was so delicious. Would love to come back and try other things in their menu (especially knafeh!)
SweetPoison
Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. The staff were super attentive, food was amazing and the drinks list was extensive with gorgeous wines. The staff were accommodating to my fussiness and served the fish by itself- exactly as I asked. I love everything about this place. It is in the entertainment book also. Def worth a visit.
Rikki Bremner
I took my family here last night for an early Christmas dinner celebration as we wont be together this year and it was fantastic! The staff were incredibly accomodating and knowledgeable. We all had the Chef's recommendation and it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious and we were all very full and satisfied by the end. An added bonus was the lovely wine selection; recommend 'the Quirky' if you want to try something new; it was very easy drinking!
Lola
We visited last night to find a very cosy restaurant, that wasn't too loud..for once! The staff we were knowledgeable with their menus and always offered to provide information instead of us having to keep asking, because we were not familiar with a lot of the food and dishes. We were told the dishes were ideal for sharing and that they will be served as they are ready.<br/><br/>We got the tiger prawns with bandari spice, the Saudi tahini beef pie and the mushroom manoushe with garlic. The presentation of all the dishes was really good, and our favourite was the mushroom manoushe, like a pizza. The beef pie had amazing short crust pastry on the outside and was cooked in a little dish served straight to the table. The prawns were a bit of a let down unfortunately as they didn't have as much spice as we were hoping and they were a little overdone.<br/><br/>Overall this place is really good, great service, lovely ambience, very quick turn around of food and great taste! Definitely recommend!

Propeller served up what was one of my favourite meals last year ā€“ the flavours and presentation of their Middle Eastern inspired cuisine, combined with the atmosphere and ambience of the building, the excellent and extensive wine list, as well as the welcoming and friendly and helpful waiters all combined for a wonderful experience. So it was with some anticipation I went along on Friday for lunch on a lovely warm and sunny autumn day ā€“ and I was not disappointed. Once again Propeller absolutely nailed it.

We were surprised that it was open for lunch on a Saturday and really happy about the variety of food on the menu, as one of us was a strict vegan.Ā  We could not fault the food, so good we ordered more, and the desserts were excellent.Ā  I am not a vegan but as we shared the food the vegan options were delicious!Ā  I am certainly going to tell all my friends about this place, and I am wondering why we hadn't heard about it before, it's so good.Ā  The wait staff couldn't have been more helpful.
Food_Glorious_Food
Have heard many good things about propeller and my recent visit here didnā€™t disappoint. Came for a weekend breakfast as a group of 6. The restaurant itself is broken up into dining sections depending on whether you prefer to sit indoors or outside, and ambience & overall vibe is great. Breakfast menu was really interesting with a bit of a middle eastern influence, hard to choose as so many things looked delicious. We settled on the mushrooms on toast (delicious), smoked ocean trout (very good), baked eggs (very tasty), and a knafeh to try something a bit sweeter (pretty good). Coffee was excellent, service was friendly and attentive and the overall experience combined with the quality and taste of the food was spot on. Canā€™t wait to come back to try their dinner menu.<br/>*EDIT*<br/>Have since been for dinner here and it was outstanding. Food is truly exceptional here, highly recommend.

Been here a few times now. Have seen it grow over the years and it just keeps getting better. Food is excellent, service is prompt and the coffee is magic. The team here know their stuff. Check it out.

We should have came here ages ago! Beautiful venue with four different settings: two insides and two outsides. Service was impeccable as soon as we arrived. All staffs were friendly and helpful. I ordered BBQ Black Angus Beef, Hubby had Butcherā€™s Breakfast. We waited long for them to be cooked, but they were worth the wait. My steak cooked beautifully, scrambled egg and potato were so yummy. Hubbyā€™s got many varieties of meat on his plate. Black pudding, crunchy bacon and scrambled egg were the things I enjoyed from his dish. My Twin Peakā€™s coffee was smooth. Ice choc was great too. I seriously cant wait to go back.

Went there with friends just over a month ago. Nice place, reasonable service. Food was ok, but nothing special. If you don't mind paying over the top prices (or don't know any better) then this is the place.
Artemis
Four of us enjoyed some share plates here recently. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was very good. However, we all agreed that $14 for a prawn tapas consisting of only 2 prawns was over the top. I am sick of people saying 'but this is Perth' - that is too expensive.
Madeleine Kendrick
Went for dinner with a set menu in a group. As with most groups, some arrived late, which appeared to fluster staff when they tried to distribute the courses. Aside from that, the staff were friendly and the food was excellent quality.<br/><br/>A bit pricey compared to what I would normally pay at a restaurant, but it also included more courses and drinks than I would normally order, so it appeared reasonable. The venue itself is lovely, and is the kind of place that makes a nice setting for a date, so it's a place I would recommend visiting at least once.
Leslie Gevers
Great food and lovely outdoor courtyard to eat in BUT night was soured by a mix up in wine that cost $50.00 extra. Ordered a $60.00 bottle of wine, paid the bill and noticed later that we were charged $110.00. Rang restaurant and asked the price of the bottle listed on the receipt and was first told that it was $60.00. When I then asked for a $50.00 refund this resulted in some uhmming and ahrring and advice that we actually had a $110.00 bottle and there was nothing they could do about it. I am unsure about how this occurred and the restaurant failed to clarify it sufficiently. It is a shame as we do like the restaurant but theirĀ  lack of responsiveness and customer focus turns us off going back there again. Still, there are many other good restaurants in Fremantle!

3.3rating<br/>A good venue to bring your little furry babies. Service was good and efficient. Coffee was good.Ā  Dog biscuits were available for $1 which was a little pricey (very thin and small) but I guess if they went to the effort of baking it and perth cafes would charge more than $1 for a melting moment with your coffee, the price makes sense in Perth somehow?Ā <br/><br/>I ordered the chicken liver and grapes with toast. I liked it and the portion was just right. It was good but nothing to shout about.Ā <br/><br/>The menemen Turkish scrambled eggs was not bad also. Good but I'm not shouting about that either. The price was reflective of the portion and food for a Perth breakfast. $45 for 2 coffees (1 in a mug size) and the two dishes mentioned.

What a great location in the quiet & quaint north freo area. Lovely decor, ambience and friendly service to match.Ā The food was excellent - delicious & simple mediterranean + middle-eastern share plates. Recommend the donuts, chicken pie and octopus. Will definitely be back!

Others reviews are good so probably not a good day for them. Staff took a while to get our orders. Food took a while but looked great. Flavours Ok, coffee ok.
Billylamb
Love this spot for brunch and keen to try their dinner. Middle eastern inspired breakfast options. The flavours of my baked eggs was amazing and the atmosphere is relaxed, light and bright. Could easily sit here for a few hours sipping coffee and chatting.
BrookeM
I always thought this place was just wood fired pizzas and cocktails but was pleasantly surprised with the options on the menu and the food didn't disappoint either. Really friendly, attentive service without being overbearing made for a really relaxed dining experience. We will be back!

Having been to Propeller for breakfast several times in the past 2-3 years, I was disappointed to find it closed last Tuesday when this website had it as open. We have been misinformed on a couple of occasions in the last year as to it being open even though it was being renovated and not open. Disappointing to say the least when you rely on sites like this to keep you informed of opening times.
The Journeyman
We enjoyed the "Fed Very Well" dining option for $45 left very well fed. Ā Unless you are able to put away serious amounts of food then this is all you probably need. Ā The dishes themselves were rustic with the superb ingredients making each dish really special. Ā The oysters were some of the best I've had in terms of flavour, and the steak was sensational. Ā They have a wonderfully diverse wine list with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic sommelier on hand. Ā We can't wait to come back!
KDawg
The service was extremely good. We had the lamb meat manoushe, cauliflower and the chicken and lamb rice it was all nice. Next time I would go with the 'feed me' menu (which the waitress recommended), to see what was currently considered amazing.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Iā€™d always mistakenly assumed Propeller was an Italian venue, but they actually are a modern approach at Middle Eastern flavours ā€“ something thatā€™s right up my alley. Learning this, and enjoying a pomegranate cocktail and then a turkish delight one, it was all the makings of a lovely night out.
Sara
Fantastic coffee and great service, I love the music they play, I absolutely love going there every weekend to get my coffee, i need to try the food soon then I'll give another review.
LittleGirlBigFood
Propeller in North Fremantle is where it is at. No joke. They really knocked this one out of the park. Props to it :). The site itself is an innovative space of sea containers and traditional building. This provides the most amazing and surprising space that I would be happy to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at!

We had a pleasant night at Propeller with our friends. We decided on the Tasting plate which was more than just that. Almost like a 4-5course meal with plenty there for all of us to feel sated. The dessert was delicious and We savoured every mouthful. The waitresses were efficient, quick and always seemed to be around when you needed them. A suggestion might be to add less oil to the fish and chorizo dish. Thanks to all for a fun and relaxed night!

A gorgeous take on middle Eastern food. New renovations have utilised the once outside dining area to be inside with a tall roof creating an open feeling in the space. Chairs could use some cushioning if you stay as late as we did! They were very kind and let us stay until 11pm, we were having such a great time we had no idea there was no one else left in the restaurant. Incredibly attentive service with the 'feed me' $40 menu. We paid an extra $30 for 4 paired drinks, very good value. My phone ran out of charge so the pics aren't as clear as my usual standard as I wasn't used to the camera I was lent. If you want to see their new incredible menu, go to their website. I will attach some pics here but the one posted on Zomato is not their current menu. Although a bit let down by the desert. Just one biscuit. Fabulous food, fabulous fun! Ps will add pics soon. Here is the 'feed me' pescatarian slanted menu served to us - salt roasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds, shredded iceberg, cucumber, radish, coriander; Bandari spiced whitebait, garlic mayo; Grilled Basharat spiced king prawns; Shark Bay scallops, red pepper and walnut paste; BBQ quail, fescennine sauce; Turkish lamb hotpot with prunes, honey and Labbe; Za'tar flatbread with smoky babaghanoush; Middle eastern sweets.
Craig Cooper
This is our favourite up-market cafe/restaurant at the moment. Friendly service and innovative tapas-style cuisine with a middle-eastern twist. The site has just been renovated and looks terrific.
Minali Gamage
Helpful and friendly service, especially as we sat down in between breakfast and lunch service. Buzzing vibe. Mushrooms were delicious and the crisp bread on top was perfect for dipping. Great recommendation by our waitress.

Went for brunch this Sunday - rolled in at 11:00am and ordered coffee which turned up 5 minutes later and was good coffee. <br/>The waitress gave us fresh glasses but left us to finish off the half bottle of water the previous dinners left. <br/>My wife ordered Eggs and Toast with a side bacon (good as expected given it was only eggs toast and bacon) and I ordered the Pork Belly Sausages on bacon baked beans. <br/>30-35min after ordering I brought the fact we were still waiting the attention of one of the waitresses - this waitress was nice and friendly and apologised for the extended wait - a few minutes later the meals arrived - the Sausages were very dry and underwhelming the beans were ok - in all the meal was below average. <br/>As I was just about to eat the second sausage and saw it had 2 short black hairs on it. Handing it back direct to the chef I advised it was not good enough and declined the offer of a replacement meal. <br/>The head waitress came to my table argued that my wait time was only 20 minutes which clearly was not the issue anymore given the surprises on the plate. <br/>Any way payed the bill minus the sausages and left very disappointed and will not be back. <br/>Average food - poor service and questionable food preparation techniques.
Dave
Unbelievable! Ordered 2 pizza and 1 calzone for pick up. $68.00!!!<br/>The size of the pizzas are tiny. 4 slices!<br/>If you are going to charge ridiculous prices at least make the portion sizes worth the expense! The pizzas are even put in large pizza boxes so you don't know the actual size of the pizza until you get home and open the box! Will not be dining here again in or out!
Jayne
Third visit to Propellor and the food was fantastic once again. Zucchini with air dried tuna was amazing flavour combination. There wasn't one dish that we didn't like - fish pie, falafel, fava beans, potato and leek folded thingy - the king prawns were the winner. Lovely evening with good service. Thanks!<br/>11 months prior<br/>Had a delicious dinner at Propeller - never been before and it exceeded expectations. The three dishes shared between two were really different flavour combinations but all 3 were great. Baby beets, haloumi strings, beans and I think fennel bulb was amazing. Very nice prawn dish and pork skewers with skordalia had nice zing to it. Definitely recommend it.
Sav
Hipster dining has taken a new low in WA.<br/><br/>This place has to have the worst menu and the worst cook, and I say 'cook' with gritted teeth. <br/><br/>Another great venue in Freo destroyed by awefull hipster food!!! <br/><br/>
Foodieperth
We also came here for dinner one night, and Propeller executed this flawlessly. The staff were so polite and friendly and greeted us at the door. After 15 minutes of deciding what to order off the exotic menu, we decided on the chicken ribs ($12), chicken manoushe pizza ($26) and the moorish pork skewers ($30). As soon as we decided on our dishes, the waitress came around to take our order! The food came at a steady pace, not too rushed and not too slow, which I thought was perfect. <br/><br/>The chicken ribs were excellent, well marinated and basted in a variety of flavoursome spices. The chicken was also cooked to perfection and the garlic sauce and lemon really complemented the dish. The moorish skewers were so tender- they melted in my mouth. The hummus that came with it was creamy and tasty and went well with the wonderful pork basting, pinenuts and currants. The pizza was also delicious- it came with hummus, chicken, onions and olives and it was so tasty and each bite exploded with flavour in my mouth. The sweetness of the onion complemented the savouriness of the hummus and basting of the chicken. The pizza dough was also thin, crisp and fluffy which was perfect. <br/><br/>For dessert, I decided to order the strawberry tart with lemon curd sorbet. The sorbet rested on top of the strawberry jelly, which helped add sweetness to the sour sorbet. The sorbet was creamy and not icy at all, and the lemon flavour was just perfect. The strawberry tart had such a thin crust- perfect and easy to break. It was filled with this creamy vanilla custard and topped with strawberries whichwas the perfect combination.

Friendly, competent staff, beautiful tea, and an interesting menu with some unique brunch options (and accommodating to dietry needs) in cool comfortable surrounds. Stoked to have found my new local<br/>
Peter Barney
We went here for dinner. Not planned <br/>And so we took a chance. Expensive wine menu but good choices and we had two very good cocktails. We had the Jerusalem artichokes which were very well done and rump steak which was good. Keen to come back and try more of the menu.

I have heard wonderful things about this place so decided to try it for brunch. The coffee was delicious but weak (that's coming from someone who is has a low threshold for caffeine). Ordered the knafeh which is cheese with crumbs and pistachio on top served with a light sweet orange blossom syrup. It was beautiful more sweet than savoury until I got to half of it and then it became sickeningly sweet. It would've been lovely as a starter to share or if I loooved sweet stuff. I had food envy of my friend's tomato based, eggplant, pumpkin topped with an egg dish and bread dish. That was tasty very much like shakshuka. My friend raved about her cured salmon on potato omelette. Interior is awesome, laid back cosy industrial balance and the shipping container component is trendy. Outdoor area would be great in summer. Cool place, good service.<br/>------ Tried dinner here and had a much more splendid time. Fish pastry was light and nicely spiced, best Brussel sprouts, eggplant pizzaish was nice and dessert was lovely especially with the rose water taste.
Tracy
Love this restaurant! The blue cheese and mushroom pizza is to die for, although u r better to share it as try as u may ,it is very rich and hard to finish. I really tried too! There are heaps of delicious healthy dishes to share also in a friendly vibrant atmosphere. The barman also does a mean margarita which is a great start to any night.<br/>However, on returning again recently the service was a little weird and uppity . One would think that an apology might b in order when your salad is served 20 minutes after you have consumed your other dishes, not a dressing down from the waitress for not understanding the way the kitchen works. Hmmm... you vill do it our vay or else!!
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Finally made it to Propeller this morning - and what a beautiful morning we had. šŸš The interiors are absolutely stunning, a mix of industrial and classy. The outdoor areas are large and would be perfect in the Summer months, but we decided to sit inside to avoid the chill in the air. We visited around 11am and it was busy, but very easy to grab a table. If you're popping in at a busier time I'd recommend a booking. šŸ‘« The staff were very knowledgable and super friendly. Service makes an experience and Propeller's staff are dandy. As soon as I was seated I was asked if I wanted to order a coffee - of course I did! Everyone knows their coffee order and more Cafes need to do this to get the ball rolling and keep their patron's happy! And caffeinated! ā˜•ļø I ordered an Almond Long Mac and the latte art was just gorgeous. The blend was smooth, not too strong and very easy to drink. I actually ordered a second as I enjoyed it that much. The menu is quite fancy and I'll admit we did a little bit of googling to work out what a few things were, and it was so hard to choose a dish. Everything sounded so good and we ended up stalking Instagram to work out what to order. šŸ“ I went with the Potato Omelette with Hot Salmon and Curd. Totally picked the right dish. It was beautiful. The omelette was very light and fluffy, with slivers of potato throughout the eggy goodness. Yum. The salmon was very fresh and melted in my mouth. The curd added another texture and melted over the dish. So good. I don't think I've had curd before but I can now say I'm a fan. Also tried my friend S' dish, the Orange Blossom Knafeh - what a stunning sweet option. I'm not sure I could eat an entire plate of it though - maybe one to share, as lovely as it was I can see it becoming quite sickly sweet after a few mouthfuls. šŸ‘šŸ» All in all a gorgeous experience and I'm keen to try the dinner menu. Great service, amazing food, small menu but produce is great quality and a but interesting . We had the chefs choice of 9 dishes for $60 per person. Desert was definitely my favourite.

Octopus was great - 10/10 <br/><br/>Pie was also good maybe some mushrooms would add a bit more. <br/><br/>Lots of Pokemon 10/10. <br/>

Enjoyed this restaurant immensely. <br/>Quirky interesting decor. <br/>Friendly efficient and very obliging staff. <br/>The cocktail list was great and served with flourish - from the sea container bar<br/>The food - share plate style - was good serving size for sharing and very delicious especially the Brussel Sprouts which we all loved the best.

As regular readers will know, living in Ellenbrook means that I donā€™t get to Fremantle as often as Iā€™d like, despite there being many restaurants in the area on my ā€œmust visitā€ list. One of them is Propeller in North Freo, so I was thrilled to be invited to last weekā€™s ā€œTruffle, Pig & Wine Discovery Degustationā€ dinner.
Damo
Propeller is solid. With pseudo-Moroccan thread, the food is well balanced and most enjoyable. In fact, I can't really fault it, which begs the question why customers have only given it a 3.5/5; which is where my rating too, started before further, more favorable reflection. <br/><br/>For a great night, full of flavor, in a casual setting, get to Propeller.....
Gourmet John
Excellent food, professional service, stylish venue. Perfect for those who miss melbourne standards when dining out. Interesting menu, all 8 of us enjoyed each dish we had immensely. Duck pie, scotch filet and chicken were stand out dishes. The wines on offer were well chosen and highly complimentary. Gourmet John says 'lets gobble'.

Pity it rained today as the courtyard of Propeller sure looks inviting for a sunny day. I arrived just after 8am and it was already packed with only a couple of tables left; this is incredible given the kitchen opens at 8am. I guess a lot of people had been to the Anzac pre-dawn services, and some were going afterwards, right outside the CafƩ. <br/> <br/>Service was excellent with a nice hot mug of long Mac topped up arriving quickly. It was delicious coffee! My baked eggs with Persian meatballs and saffron yogurt also arrived quickly, and again, were very hot. I was impressed because it was very busy and things can take time to get from the kitchen. But this place knows how to keep things moving, and all with a friendly smile. The brekkie was excellent. Tasty meatballs, eggs with a runny centre and a nice subtle hint of saffron from the yogurt. It was a hearty and tasty dish. I also ordered a Bloody Mary, and this was very nice, made with chimichurri spiced tomato juice. Topped off a gloomy morning for sure!<br/><br/>Overall, excellent service, coffee and food; I could fault nothing. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. Will have to come back with some sun next time and enjoy a lazy lunch in the courtyard.

Went here for breakfast this morning and what a gem we have found! Not only are they extremely dog friendly, but very human friendly too :-) Exceptional service but not "in your face, pushy" kind of service. Great coffee & fresh, locally made juices. Fabulous, different from the norm menu. We had the Egg & Meat Lovers Pizza to share followed by the Orange Blossom Souffra with Blood Plums & Creme Fraiche. We couldn't have chosen better! The pizza was sooo yummy & the Souffra was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Will definitely be back....can't wait! šŸ‘šŸ¼

Came in for a late breakfast 10am, no queue and we were seated promptly. Coffee was nice and the food I thought carried quite a hefty price tag, but the food was delicious, may try it again in the future.
Fozzypizza
The venue is very impressive but the food did not match the space and vibe. Service was a little lacking, staff spent more time hanging on the side lines chatting away amongst them selves. The food menu was very mixed matched and didn't compliment one another or the venue. I wasn't quite sure if they were trying to cook Turkish, Modern Australian or Italian. The margherita pizza was nice but all the pizzas were barely 9" big and $24!!!! Ridiculous. Not even at the high end 400 Gradi in Melbourne, winner of worlds best pizza would you pay that for a full 13" pizza. The sword fish was very nice, i highly recommend having that dish. Ive never really been into voicing bad experiences at restaurants but this place is all very amateur and needs some serious redirection.

Had a great meal last week. Lovely fresh interesting food. Great staff and service. Definitely worth a visit. Relaxed atmosphere and decor. What more can I say? Highly recommended!

Went Saturday night, setting was great, with atmosphere. Service was<br/>extremely slow, we were offered small amounts of food whilst waiting and waiting. Ā The food was nothing to rave about for the price. Ā The kitchen and wait staff appeared to be disorganised. Much better places close by to try.

Consistently good long black coffee in a nice alfresco setting. Ā I enjoyed a mountain of bircher with yogurt and strawberries with a hint of rose. Delicious and good value. Free parking and located on the way to Fremantle makes Propeller a great stop, also 15 minute walk from the North Fremantle train station/bicycle path. Awesome cycling pit stop!

Went to Propeller today for a late lunch and really liked it. Love the interior! Clean, simple, modern, and that neon light on the wall šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼!! I ordered the cured salmon with horseradish, fennel, beetroot and radish which was very nice.. tasted so fresh and light and all the flavours together were perfect. My friend ordered the cuttlefish and croquettes and loved both. I can't wait to go back again to try more things!

I am very hard to please when it comeA to restaurants especially their service. So when my wife came home and raved about how great this place was I was sceptical. Good service and Perth generally don't go hand in hand. <br/><br/>Well, my wife's ravings about how great this place is were warranted. <br/><br/>The first thing that stood out were the friendly, smiling, helpful and efficient staff managed by a guy whom is the complete juxtaposition of me - Tasiano. <br/><br/>Tasiano chatted with us was as friendly as his staff without being intrusive or annoying. <br/><br/>Now to the food. I had the Cape Grim Scotch Fillet good so perfectly it rivalled that of such places as Rockpool. My wife had the buffalo mozzarella, tomato pizza and I wish I could tell she how this tasted but she wouldn't share as it was so good. For desert we hard the BBQ banana split. I am not a desert eater by HOLY COW - you have to try it!!!!!<br/><br/>They class this as street dining due to its casual nature. I loved this type of dining and everything else about this place. <br/><br/>This is an absolute must. Don't drive past - stop in and enjoy!!!!!!!

Props to Propeller on the fabulousness of the food and down-to-earth vibes... which was perhaps a bit too much so (a longer story). My cured salmon dish was a glorious mix of freshness and balanced flavours - it worked. Worth the price. Hubby's meatlovers pizza was also quality, but we thought it over priced. Overall the venue has a relaxed vibe of industrial artisan cool, we love alfresco dining so great spot for lunch we thought. Service was average but this is normal Perth industry standard (unfortunately).

Wednesday 30th December<br/><br/>We didn't book and they managed to accommodate the 5 of us outside. Our waitress was really good; funny knowledgeable. The food was good but one dish took ages too come out which was the chicken and to be fair it wasn't worth the wait! All the other dishes were great and I enjoyed their cocktails too. Gutted the black pudding has gone off the menu but seasons change. Overall a great midweek sharing place

if you 'build it and they will come'...you better be ready for when they come. <br/><br/>saturday morning packed and what a disaster.<br/>45 just to get your coffee and another 15 for the food.<br/><br/>coffee just hot milk....please come to melbourne and see how to make a good latte.<br/><br/>juices not freshly squeezed.<br/><br/>

Love this place - warm hospitality and outstanding dishes. Tip: If you want to order outside the brunch menu on a weekend - pre book the tasting menu - 10/10.

What a waste of my time and money.. I've been to Propeller 3 times and it just gets worse every time.. $10 for a bottle of juice with a 15% surcharge.. The pizza breakfast I had I wouldn't feed to my dog. When I complained about the quality of food and service I was forcively removed by the rudest manager in Perth. Stay away people. <br/>

Propeller provides a nice and laid back atmosphere for breakky and coffee in particular. Service was welcoming and food was prompt. Had no complaints whatsover and enjoyed the casual vibe.
Wags Out West
Propeller is a casual and quirky restaurant with an intimate feel in North Fremantle near HabituĆ© and Flipside Burgers. Its built around an old refurbished bus garage with colourful murals on the outside walls. The largest part of Propeller is this front outdoor area that hasĀ umbrellas and boxed seating as well as the shipping container ā€˜barā€™ area. Its partially fenced with glass panels thatĀ reduce the road noise as give the place a ā€˜secret garden feelā€™. They also have a small outside area around the back and a traditional inside area with the kitchen.

Came here for breakfast. It was amazing. I would say by far the best scrambled eggs I have ever had. Service wasn't the best but still great!
Cassie
For breakfast a friend and I shared the corn fritters with poached eggs and the grilled haloumi, stewed peppers and poached eggs on toast. I liked the corn fritters, they were crisp on the outside unlike others I've had where they taste quite doughy. Eggs were poached well. The haloumi and stewed peppers dish was okay, though somewhat greasy and the bread was a bit tough. Service was good, and it's dog friendly.

Had a great breakkie here today. Grilled peppers and corn fritters, both delicious. Coffee good and hot, friendly service, love the north freo vibe. Will be back.

Very cool and casual brunch venue. Pizzas available after 12pm. Good food and welcoming for pet dogs. Haven't been for dinner but would be sublime on a balmy summer evening.
LoveMyFood
Seriously the worst pizza I've ever been served. Raw cauliflower and cheap ham, boiled lanb and yogurt? True description would fail I guess, the duck roll was really good, wine list was ordinary. Staff are ignorant and busy talking to each other really loudly. Not going back ever!!
The Chefs Wife
We love the Fremantle vibe ā€“ so casual and carefree. Though technically in the western suburbs, the North Fremantle strip exudes the same Freo quirkiness and it has an intimate village feel too. Propellerā€™s kitchen is inspired by flavours of the Levant region, which is made up of countries from the eastern Mediterranean, an area where European and Middle Eastern flavours collide.

Lovely atmosphere and service. Great for summer to sit outside. Everything we had from the menu was well presented and good that the kids fish is grilled instead of deep fried.
Bake You Smile
Propeller has been at the top of my list of places to try for quite some time. Everyone has been raving on about the pizzas!. Fatty, The Food Forager and I headed to Propeller with the intentionĀ  of having brunch (well, at least us girls did). Can you believe Fatty doesnā€™t like going out for brunch? We had to choose a restaurant that offered both breakfast options and main meal options to keep everyone happy.

In an old refurbished bus garage located on Queen Victoria St in North Freo, Propeller serves up great food plus some awesome pizzas! Having had a great experience here in my first visit, I decided to make my way back one weekend to try a few other dishes.

Propeller is a very cool and funky looking restaurant , however the food was below average , service was efficient and friendly . Don't think I'll be rushing back .

Bestie B and I have had lots of catching up to do since Iā€™ve been back in Perth, in regards to both stories and eating out at new places in Perth together. When we were making plans a few weeks ago, B mentioned Propeller as a possible venue and after reading the reviews, I was excited to try it.

Shredded pork partners duck meat in this baked bean dish, the rich flavour of tomato sauce and herbs was ultimately tasty. Propeller was a delightful and very comfortable place to dine. Service was spot on and its a place I think weā€™ll bring the parentals too next time. The breakfast dishes left us with full bellies, however we hung around for a second round of coffees because the long blacks were that good.

The restaurant is very funky. I like how there's multiple sections to it. It would be lovely for sitting outside in summer. <br/>The food was interesting, the fried quail and quince pie were delicious but the portions were too small for those prices in my opinion. <br/>Nevertheless it was absolutely packed. <br/>The service was very quick too.

Wow! This place is fantastic. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. One of the best places I have been to in Perth for a while.<br/><br/>I arrived for our 5.30pm booking. My company was running late, but I was tended to by the lovely people there. I have noticed that at some places, the waitstaff ignore you until your company is with you (which is not cool!). I ordered the Maximizing juice which was so tasty and refreshing.Ā <br/><br/>When it came to ordering, one of the waitstaff went through the menu and how the restaurant encourages the food to be shared (as we had not been before). For starters we ordered the 'pickled octopus' to share. It came out in a little jar which was poured out into a small dish, which I though was a nice little rustic touch. It was delicious! I then had the 'grilled fish, potatoes and cumin rouille'. It was so yummy, I could have licked the plate or ordered a second serve of it. At this stage, I was about 80% full, but felt ambitious enough to order dessert. I am glad I did, because the 'rice pudding' was to die for! I give the place full marks for food and service.<br/><br/>But it lost half a mark because it did get rather loud inside as the night progressed when the restaurant filled up. It became a little hard to converse. With that being said, I think Propeller would be a lovely place to come to during the day, where you can enjoy the courtyard area in the sunshine. And it would have been nice to see a few more wine options served by the glass.<br/><br/>Otherwise, a fantastic place. I'll definitely be back :)

I came here for brunch one weekend and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food served. The service was great and there were plenty of seats available inside and outside. I enjoyed all of the dishes we had but my favourite would have to be theĀ kefalograviera. I noticed they have a dinner menu too, so I will surely come back.

Breakfast not great!. Staff were very friendly but breakfast was both expensive and pretty awful. Had the beans with duck, not a good taste especially since it was on mushy soaked through bread. Won't do breakfast there again
Tele
Excellent food and service. We were a big table..excellent food, faultless, very good attentive service. 5 stars.
Michelle
Not gluten free friendly. Venue looks inviting so ventures in. Only food options available where pizza. Waitress was helpful and asked if they could do something gf for me from the brunch menu but was shut down by management citing it was past 3pm. This was at 3:08pm. We left didn't try anything so review is based only on customer experience.
Kiki
The waitresses were very helpful and friendly and the restaurant itself is really nice looking. Food was a little bit of a let down! Took a long while to arrive and came out all at different times, had to wait about 40 minutes for one dish. Also quite pricey for the portion size. Nice place but wouldn't go back in a hurry.

We made a habit of chatting to anyone who showed a mild interest in what we were eating. Its lovely to chat with strangers to find out what dishes they enjoyed. Loads of people raved about Propeller's spicy fried fish wings served with preserved lemon aioli so of course we had to grab one.
Alessia Buccheri
Good pizza!. The chicken and almond pizza is yum!! But I must say this place is not cheap at all! And the portions are small.

Not Great! Went for lunch with hubby as we were in the area. Sat in the courtyard, quite lovely but rather windy, blankets were a nice touch! Our instinct was to walk out as soon as we read the menu, 90% of selection more suited for breakfast and a weird pizza menu. I opted for Crumpets & hubby chose Beef Brisket. I enjoyed the Crumpets but only one piece @$14, just charged couple more $$ and at least have 2 pc on plate, I was still hungry afterwards! The Beef Brisket however was dry and hard, accompanied by soaky potato rosti, very expensive plate close to $30!! On the positive, service staff very enthusiastic & friendly. Will we go back? Most probably not!

I had high hopes but left disappointed. After 10 mins we were told our drinks order had been lost, so we reordered. Another 20 mins later (after asking) we received 1 warm coffee and 2 pots of tea that were only filled half way. Food was nice, but I would have liked a second crumpet as one wasn't quite enough for brunch. I will be back to give Propeller a second chance...but please fill tea pots up...It's only water!!
Funkymuncher
Overpriced and then they add 20% service charge for mediocre service? Breakfast came without toast, when asked why no toast was told " oh we burnt it". It then came out 15 mins later, almost burnt again! All meals were average. Never again!

Evening Meal with Friends. First thing we noted was the high noise level from surounding tables, which excluded any chance of a 4 way chat across the table, which when you are dining with friends is an essential component of an enjoyable evening. The waitresses were very attentive and pleasant, but as the meals were "sharing" we found difficulty finding four that were agreeable to everyone as the choice was very limited unles you had multiple pizzas?<br/>When I said the waitresses were attentive at the beginning, this began to wear on us as the meal went on with dishes and plates trying to be removed while we were still eating"<br/>A relaxed and peaceful evening, it was not!

Very impressed!. Tried Propellor for the first time today for brunch and was very impressed! The coffee and breakfast was delicious and the service was really good. Our food came out quickly and the overall vibe was the place was really relaxed. Great outdoor area, would be great on a sunny day for an afternoon drink too!

Good times. Ate at the Propeller last night - first time whilst here in Perth on work trip from Melbourne <br/>It was a good night out - we sat on the forecourt <br/>food was solid and we all tucked in - highlights were the duck, quail eggs, chicken and a mushroom pizza<br/>also tried to desserts - which both went down well <br/>would definitely go back again

Beautiful coffee.. unfortunately that is where this review's positivity ends.<br/>My partner and I are locals, and we really wanted to like this place. We really wanted to like this place. Alas, it wasn't to be. A 20 minute wait for a take away coffee. $60 for 2 small, underwhelming pizzas and a beer is ridiculous. <br/>As I said, I wanted to like this place, but it's typical Perth - overpriced and underwhelming.

Great fun place with atmosphere. Went on Monday night with group of friends . Booked inside which was great but outside in summer would be excellent. Whoever designed this place really knows their game. Great atmosphere which led to a Fabbo night. Friendly but pleasantly bossy waitress suggested that for a group of 12 that we were she would decide on our food selection. I reluctantly agreed & she was spot on. Food and service both first class. Will be back & thoroughly recommend this place to anyone wanting good food and a fun night out. Mojos across the road worth a visit for an after meal drink & a look at some different bands. Peter Hugall Perth.

Great venue but ridiculous wait times, 20 minutes for a cup of tea, ages to get served, 50 minute breakfast wait, always trying to get the attention of a staff member. Propeller may have bitten off more than they can chew here!!?
Teesha
This place is such a funky spot and the food was delish. I will definitely be back for a Sunday sesh. This newish restaurant was packed out when we went and we waited about an hour from arriving for our meals. Nevertheless the staff were super friendly and compensated by taking two coffees off of our bill, making all the difference.
Sarah Brown
Breakfast turned into brunch after a resonable wait to get served (which was fine, Sunday's are relaxing) but then 45 minutes for our eggs on toast to come out was a bit much! Plus the mushrooms were missed off one of our orders. <br/>Its a great location, my poached eggs were perfect, the staff lovely and friendly. But I wouldn't rush back, the kitchen just doesn't look big enough for the number of tables they have. <br/>The people next to us got free drinks for their long wait. We didn't get offered the same :-( (but hey life isn't fair :-) )
Traceytroode
Great place to eat before a big night. We had the white bait which was exceptional we shared a pizza which was one of the best pizzas I have had . We stumbled across Propellas we were going to Mojos on a Wednesday night so it's was handy and a pleasant surprise I will be returning

Visit propeller on Thursday excited to try new venue for breakfast left very disappointed feeling would never go back. From the get go alam bells rang, staff suggested weekend menu was more substantial than weekend menus.<br/>Asked what type of bread eggs served on and if choice staff did not know and did not want to find out.<br/>Food was served no condiments on table had to ask, not butter on toast or provided.<br/>Only one price of under toasted toast,<br/>there was only one piece of bacon which was like a small pork belly, I have never had bacon that tasted as poor as this.<br/>The only redeeming factor was the coffee out side this the staff and food need a major improvement.
