Review Bread In Common - Fremantle

Amy K
The bread was easily the best part as it was so good. But the lamb was stinky for me so if you have trouble with lambs normally then best skip it. The pork was nice but it was sweet. Nice atmosphere for evening drinks though I think.

It was my first time dining at Bread In Common with 4 other people. I really enjoyed the food from entrees to main courses. The bread and the spread was amazingly nice. The main courses we ordered were very tasty and pretty close to fine dining quality. We all had shared plates. The interior setting of the restaurant was pretty welcoming. The settings in the upper floor was cosy. The staff were friendly and the food service were not slow at all being a packed house. Although parking on the streets are limited, it is recommended to park at the multi-storey car park which is a short walking distance to the restaurant.

We were a little disappointed about our breakfast here. Bread in Common was always on my list as a funky and innovative space for interesting food and cool atmosphere. The atmosphere was great. Service was a little clunky. The space is so so so cool. Maybe the breakfast doesn't match the lunch/evening service but our experience... it just didn't quite match the hype. The coffees we ordered were served in takeaway cups with the apology that they ran out of mugs. They then proceeded to serve others with mugs. It also wasn't a full house so whilst I would have understood if they were run off their feet, the excuse seemed a little weak. The menu read really well, with interesting combinations - I was tossing up what to get and asked the server who responded with a disinterested "it's up to you." 😒 When the food came out we were greeting with what was, very simply, a pretty expensive big breakfast and mushrooms on toast with hummus. It was all very blah. Well cooked and by no means low in quality, but it just wasnt interesting? Or creative? In a different small less hyped cafe maybe we would have been okay with the food but we were just expecting so much more, especially for the price (and one piece of toast). Would be keen to go for dinner and see the difference and hype that everyone raves about. Maybe we were just unlucky.

Great ambiance for a slow Sunday start. The home made butter is soft, creamy and light, goes so so well with their fresh bread I also love the fruit bread with butter. Well balance of sweetness and slight saltiness from the butter; toasted just right with the right thickness in the slices

A beautiful venue for a casual Saturday or for an occasion to celebrate. This place is a treasure of Fremantle hidden in a one way side street. Note: please be prepared to spend a little longer finding parking if driving! We started with some beautiful fresh bread with olives and salted butter. Our entire group had the main prawn dish which was to die for. There was just the right amount of prawns for a fulfilling main dish, however, was light and enjoyable for a summer evening. We each had a different dessert. Each was as enjoyable as our main. Will absolutely be returning. Staff were incredibly busy, as expected for a Saturday night in Fremantle, but each staff member was attentive so overall we had excellent service.

We haven't visited this place in a long while so after 3 odd years we decided to give it a go. We drove all the way from Mandurah and it was generally worth it. We were welcomed by a friendly waitress and the setting was great. Looking down the menu, the options were good however pricey. The combination We tried was quite yummy and the chef's attention to detail and product quality on plate was fantastic. You have to try their bread for obvious reasons, coupled with the lamb gravy....Yummo!!! 😀😀😀. We ordered the lamb ribs and let me tell you the sauce that was in the plate, I could drink a couple of glasses of that...nice lemony 🍋. With this We had the roasted cauliflower dish...OMG...beautiful combination with the lamb ribs...I couldn't ask for a better meal. One criticism though was that they gave me literally a drop of bubbles for 13 bloody dollars!!! See pic. At least fill the glass up you know? Other than that it was a nice spoil to visit this place and if you want to impress your date? Take him/her here...you will NOT regret it. Our average spent was $40...Not bad at all. Thanks Bread in common 👍👊🤟🙏😀😀❤

Great spot for brunch. We were able to get a dog friendly table outside. Delicious bread and dukkah, heirloom tomatoes and cauliflower. Great building in the heart of Freo.

Delightful!!!! Coming from Melbourne, the food here just blows out of the water! My husband and I waited to come in at opening 11.30am as the venue and bread looked amazing, intentionally expecting more of a brunch -Breakfast food, but we were pleasantly surprised with the experience. We ordered the bread selection with house made butter and olives -sensational. The crowing glory : Lamb Ribs, beautifully crisp on top with tenderness throughout and a delicate, sage, honey lime dew. I am writing this review as we are licking our lips. Seriously guys we are impressed!!! For the price point too this place offers higher quality on all fronts compared to the same end dishes in Melbourne. Incredible. 5 stars with two hands up .

I simply don’t get to Freo often. Dropped in and it was busy. They accommodated us and the order was place food arrived quick enough. We were jammed in but thankful. Food was very tasty, all share plates (IMO) so bring a good friend. Trendy and hipster setting...expensive for what you get. Loved the lamb, potatoes were ok....smoothie was ok.
Mike
Do not get brunch here. Extremely underwhelming. Over priced, average menu options and soggy eggs. Might be better for dinner
I have been wanting to try Bread In Common for ages, and a Sunday morning seemed like the perfect opportunity, so we popped down there for brunch. It’s a large airy restaurant, possibly a converted warehouse, on Pakenham Street. The kitchen is open and run in a very calm manner. The tables are long benches, and there’s a hubbub of activity with customers chatting, coffee being made, fruits being juiced, and the takeaway counter selling bread, pies, pastries and cakes.
Laura
Great bread. Pretentious staff. No high chairs.
Shella
Lovely quality food. Delicious bread. Would be back again. Clean and great atmosphere. The only thing i would criticise is the size of the tables for two people. There isn’t much room to move once you get a menu and a drink.
Eunifoodie
I don’t normally eat bread but the bread here is amazing, especially when it’s paired with their spreads or dukkah. The ambience is very relaxing and staff are friendly.

Great restaurant.
Starting with oysters and finished with bread and butter pudding with lamb ribs, potatoes and carrots in between. Good wine list and friendly service.
Thanks
Chris Giust
We started with the bread. Well of course we did - it’s in the name of the restaurant and not to be missed. Ate with olive oil and hazelnut dukkah and perfect with butter. The white bean dip with saltbush was outstanding.
The gents at the table devoured the sardines with pleasure. The swordfish was cooked to perfection . Loved the mushrooms and fennel and the asparagus. Would highly recommend and wish we had more time in Fremantle to go back and sample the items on the menu that we missed.
Great atmosphere, great service

We enjoyed a great evening here with attentive service and some really elegant and delicious share plates. The decor is modern but still warm and felt intimate despite quite a few people in.

Went to Bread In Common for the first time for lunch with a friend that lives in Perth. What an amazing place. The decor is ultra cool industrial, the food was outstanding and as a chef I was in foody heaven!! Lots of incredible vegie dishes on the menu, great bread with a large amount of accompaniments... service very good, staff very good, wine list very good...
A must if in Freo!! I will be back soon.
Thank you....

Great ambience and laid back atmosphere, Nice place to relax and enjoy tasty small plates even if by yourself travelling. Fantastic service also, thanks for the recommendation on the Kangaroo skewers... flavour bang and tender!

🌸🌸When the dish is too pretty to eat. Sunday Breakfast here is a must. I was tossing up between this walnut, pecan and almond granola and the French toast. I'm glad I went with my first choice. Fruity, crunchy without bring way to sweet as some granola bowls are. J had the scrambled Eggs with Dukkah which were nice and fluffy. Great if you want something smaller for breakfast. Even better than the food and coffee (5/5) was the decor and pretty lights. .
Food is amazing but the staff are very snobby and not very helpful. It felt like we were an inconvenience being there! Not very good! The food is so good, had the oso buko and it was so tasty and had been slow cooked to perfection.
Martin Davies
Pleasant ambience and lovely casual dining room. Bread and dips were delicious. As you’d expect from a venue with “bread” in the name. The baby beet salad was bland and uninteresting. Barrumundi was cooked to perfection served on a nicely wilted bed of greens in a sensational broth. But IMO either the portion of barra was a bit mean or price too high. Shame. And everything was overpriced. Worth a try to experience the ambience as long as you’re not looking for a cheap lunch.
The Real Fat Shady
Food was ok but quite expensive for what it was. Pretty much everything was gluten free which was great for one of our group, but it arrived very sporadically. I know it's a tapas vibe, but why bring roast potatoes out when there's nothing to eat them with so they go cold while waiting.
Good atmosphere though.
Emme
Bread isn’t the first thing I think of when I go for lunch. But honestly this place far exceeded my expectations. There is absolutely nothing to fault- definitely recommend.
Nick
Brilliant setup of shared food, ambience and friendly knowledgeable people. We enjoyed some great dishes including pork loin, kingifish Ceviche (that was probably the best thing I've eaten in years) amongst others. Good wine list, speedy service and a lovely setup. If I lived there is be back every week.

Bread was superb, soft and smells good. My favorite was chicken liver paste. The staff was friendly too. We showed up at 11am on Saturday and most of table was occupied.

Great food and place. An environment you will immerse slowly while indulging the tasty dishes chatting away with drinks. Menu change frequently hence a place to makes you going back for more.

Great food and awesome range of selection. Ordered a Gin and tonic with a grapefruit in it and it was to die for. Excellent arrangement of gin drinks.
Absolutely love Bread in Common.
Such a classy menu full of healthy clean eating goodness. The ambience is stunning during the day and night. Definitely the jewel of Freo for me!

If there was a rating between 4 and 5 I’d give it here. A great selection of food and bread, beautiful bread. It’s a food sharing experience. We had the chicken and mango (good), broccolini (really good) and eggplant (totally yum). Highlight would be the bread options, all wonderful, with a good choice of dips and spreads to enjoy them with.

I stepped in to this bakery expecting perfection. What did I get? Perfection. there was... there was this instant nose tingling, mouth watering scent of Fresh bread and curry powder. I felt like slum dog Millionaire when he won the ultimate prize. As if the Hindu Gods opened their gates to me. I was showered with absolute gold and a left arm wrist spin from Zaheer Khan. Nothing else can be said of this place aside, what came from my father Vishkanoo "That hit me like a bat from Sachin Tendulkar". I can do nothing but agree.
This Girls Gotta Eat
Great ambiance. Trendy industrial style bar/restaurant. We went for lunch and had the lamb ribs, asparagus and peas and prawns. All three dishes were delicious and I especially recommend the asparagus and prawn dish!

Service is great also. Want to go back to try their coffee and breakfast!
Freoman
Always a good breakfast at Bread In Common. We both had the Mushrooms on Toast with a gorgeous mushroom sauce. Very nice. The Banana Smoothies were rich and the coffee was fine.

The early morning sun, the attentive staff and the quick (at 8:30am on a Saturday) service all meant a good start to the day.
Food_Glorious_Food
Loved everything about this place. The decor, the food and the service are all on another level. Came for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon and ordered the house bread and olive bread with garlic butter, the dukkah and white bean dip (all so good). Moved onto the cuttlefish which was SOOO delicious and flavoursome we almost ordered it again (a must try if it’s still on the menu). Next was the beef brisket (so tasty and just melted in your mouth), the oyster mushrooms (very good) and the courgettes (least favourite dish as it’s very subtle, but still nice). Crispy potatoes were also delicious. Service was very professional and attentive with our waiter helping us to decide what to order (he gave great recommendations). Portion sizes are a tad small if you are sharing with multiple people, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it in my opinion. Ambience can’t be beat, such a great feel. I’m already planning our next visit very soon.
GetinmyBelly
Good food although sizing was on the small side considering the price. Wide range of drinks list, lots of good type of wines available and produce was really fresh.
I Make Friends With Salad
I have repeatedly come here. Amazing setting/ambience (if you have that insta obsessed friend, they'll enjoy themselves), you're able to have a good conversation with you meal buddies, and the service is some of the best in Perth. The plates are best for sharing and I would recommend the sweet potato/capers/verjuice/creamy cheese thing plate, which very sadly was not on the menu anymore on our last visit. It's our longstanding favourite so hopefully it will be back!

Most staff were great but first girl server with glasses was pushy and abrupt. Asked 3 times about pie/sandwich options not on menu but advertised out front, only to be told to "take a seat" when I got up to look at the offerings. Eventually was told what was available and ordered fish pie. It came with a side of beef, that I didn't mind, but those of some religions/diets wouldn't appreciate. Food tasty, coffee good.
Modfood
My partner and I came here for a late lunch. We ordered the bread with 2 dips (garlic butter & the white bean dip). DELISH! Especially the garlic butter with salt.

Next, we had the pork meatball sandwich, with a side of duck fat roasted potatoes! SUBLIME.

Service was great. Cannot fault at all! 5/5!

On suggestion by my partner whilst in Fremantle we tried Bread in Common. Great bread, plates and wine, with excellent service and friendly staff. A really great experience had here. Highly recommended.
Foodie In Paradise
Came here with a group of friends on a weekday night and this restaurant was very busy. We have to wait for 15-20 minutes to get a table as there only have smaller table available at the time.
Staffs are so friendly and attentive. The cocktails that we had were slightly too diluted , taste good but doesn't seem to taste much alcohol in them. The food are amazing. The dishes that are really stand out for me were the beef brisket, the pork dish, the chicken dish and the duck fat roasted potatoes. The only dish that I really didn't enjoyed was the lamb ribs. For dessert, we had the chocolate dish and the passionfruit mousse. The passionfruit mousse taste so delicious and refreshing that I think I can eat it over and over again.
Overall, love the food and the atmosphere at this restaurant. We had a great time at here and will highly recommended it.

I see many of the reviews on here mention the ‘vibe’ and how ‘cool’ the restaurant is. Maybe!
I won’t be back anytime soon. I thought that I would give it a try having seen some good crowds in there previous. There was not a big crowd there on my visit. The service was friendly and attentive. My first thought when I saw the menu was that I was missing a page. The ‘plates’ were all typed in courier font so discerning between the choices was not obvious. A space between each would go a long way to making it not look like a shopping list. Either that or place highlighter pens on the tables.
I considered walking out when I discovered that the entrees were basically bread and butter. Really.
My girlfriend was keen to give it a go so we ordered the brocollini 8/10, potatoes 5/10, & the lamb ribs 5/10. I had planned on wine with my meal but didn’t see anything on the list that I didn’t think I was being overcharged for.
I looked around the restaurant and it appeared that everyone was enjoying there experience so maybe it was just me but I can only speak for myself. Perhaps in time the menu will be in plane speak and the prices will reflect the fact that there is no linen on the long bench style tables.
I’m afraid it’s silver service prices in food hall settings.

This was my first time having dinner here. Since I have been here for brunch and lunch on other occasions, I was coming in with high expectations. They certainly did not disappoint. I can't get enough of their bread and selection of dips and butter! You really get full even before the main course. A must try is their duck fat potatoes. Totally delish. Service was exceptional as always. Really like the soft lighting and ambience of this place.

What a buzzing little joint in the backstreets of Fremantle. Fremantle has really changed over these last few years and I love discovering places like this that are fun, funky and fresh. With street and off street parking nearby it’s very easily accessible. I went for Sunday lunch and whilst the weather was overcast and rainy, this place was still full of life. Mainly serving tapas styled meals I would recommend at least three larger tapas places for two people. Today we had the lamb ribs, a barramundi dish and pumpkin plate. All delicious in their own way. There are also dessert share plates on offer. Great little joint that I would go back to!

The best part about Bread in Common is...the bread. Delicious, as are the dips and olive oil that come with. Being from Europe through, it still comes as a surprise to pay for bread and olive oil...The rest was disappointing. The Japanese pumpkin dish was pretty but taste-wise, not anything you've never had before. The lamb ribs were a mystery...where was the meat? Overcooked and greasy, this dish offered very little eating potential and was a big let down. The chocolate swirl pastry which I bought take-away was very doughy and barely had any chocolate taste. The venue is interesting - although the minimalist lighting in the (not so clean) bathrooms make it difficult to do certain things girls need to do in a bathroom. Will not be going back.

The chill vibe and pretty decor of this place is good for night out to catch up with friends. Free flow bread for $2 per person was an awesome deal. They only have the common loaf and rye bread available that day which was a pity as I would have like to try all the kinds of bread they made. The white bean dip was very creamy and tasty with the bread but the bread was tasty enough alone. We also got the oysters which were super fresh. The squid dish was on the salty side but the charred flavour was nice. The duck fat roasted potato dish was definitely the highlight as they were so crispy and tasty! It was great to have lots of bread to snack on while waiting for the main dishes to arrive!

great place for a lunch catch up with friends or family. quick service. variety of home made bread to choose from. we had bread as an entree with sweet garlic butter and fennel salt and olive oil. butter was really tasty on its own 😄 we then had meatball sandwich and kangaroo as our main, both have good strong flavours . kangaroo was cooked to perfection and had great combination of flavours. I also had a peach ice tea which was a bit too sweet.. had to let the ice melt a bit to fully enjoy it. highly recommend this place to anyone. will be back !

Listen guys, if you are serving a mixed bag of great food ( barramundi, roasted potatoes) and substandard food ( my god that chicken was dry), deliver my drinks halfway through the meal and charge me a pretty penny for the privilege then you should have the courtesy to ask me how I enjoyed my meal and I’ll tell you rather than write about it. Nice venue, too bad the service was crap.
AnotherAsianAbroad
LOVED the interior and the atmosphere. Very rustic, casual yet stylish and laid back feel to it.

However felt that the red wines by glass weren’t suited to my palate but did end up going with a Shiraz. As for food, we had the bread with olive oil and salt which was delicious. For mains we had the chicken and roasted potato. Both of which were nice as the chicken was juicy and tender and the potatoes crispy.

Service was ok as we waited a while to get serviced. Would come back for the atmosphere

We were told about this restaurant by a local and it was a good suggestion. Gorgeous fit out and brilliant food. We had bread to begin with along with proseco. For mains we chose roast chicken and squid - both divine. A side of cos with goats cheese. No room for dessert but we sat- surprisingly close to the table next to us and they told us they come to Bread In Common regularly. They said to try the oysters and duck fat chips next time. They were a charming couple who told us several other places to try in the area- next time we will.

Everything perfect; highly impressed
From the hipster and original interior decor- the light- the impeccable service - great food - good vibes- reasonable price
Its Freemantle so parking is a pain-street parking near seaside is your best bet.
You can sit outside or inside (bigger and more seats)
Everything we got was perfect
The lamb ribs was definitely a highlight but the bread was INCREDIBLE!! So was the garlic and bean dip we tried
Would come back 100%
The lemon tart was tiny but rich/sweet so was plenty
Dough Nut
Lovely tapas, good service and great fit-out at this popular bakery/wine bar/eatery in Fremantle.
Highly recommend the dukkah with olive oil accompanied by the bakery’s fresh bread.

This place is cool. The end.

Service on arrival was effervescent and attentive, the dude greeted us like we were old friends and took the time to explain how my gluten issues could be accommodated. He especially recommended the house-made seeded crackers, which were AH-MAZING!

We started with a couple of spreads/dips. My tip: be sure to get the white bean - I wanted to lick the bowl clean.

Main plates were equally delightful and the service continued to be attentive, they even let me take home the remainder of the gluten free crackers. I was so bloody happy! We didn't try the brisket (it wasn't GF), but it looked bloody amazing - I'm considering risking it next time ;)

The ambience is communal and cool- exposed walls, hanging lightbulb and corn growing in containers out the front. Needless to say, we're considering going back for dinner tonight.

Awesome experience
Very nice environment and atmosphere. The first visit totally hit the spot! the second time around we found that the bean dip only tasted like cumin ( the first time it was absolutely amazing!) and the Ribs were really dry... Please fix this guys! We really enjoyed the first visit and it’s just a constructive review :)
Jasmackandherpack
Honestly... it was ‘nice’. We had a tomato ‘salad’ and Pork Meatball Sandwhich and a kids Ham and Cheese toastie and it all came to $58 - which I believe is overpriced. It’s tasty though, I’ll give them that. But I don’t believe worth the price.
Ze Meddler
We came for breakfast recently and were kind of disappointed. After spending 15 minutes watching the what seemed like the head chef stand at his counter barking unnecessarily loud at his chefs, we got food that was barely warm. The brisket glaze was too sweet, and otherwise bland and chewy. Peppered hollandaise - cracked pepper on bland hollandaise 😑. Poached eggs overdone - criminal.

The floor staff are lovely, super friendly and helpful. Honestly I remember having better meals here. Shame.
Timinmelbourne
Came here for dinner last night. The service initially was excellent but over the course of the night the service slowed down.

We ordered a range of tapas dishes but the last 2 dishes took over an hour to come out.

The food itself was excellent, and of a really high standard. We had everything from lamb ribs to beef brisket to vegetarian dishes to calamari.

But the best dish was the chunky potato cooked in duck fat!! This was amazing hahaha

Overall this was a really good night of solid food and drinks, but the service could do with some polish.
Amy Sharma
Wow, what a gem this place is! It oozes cool vibes with the hanging lights and industrial warehouse interior design, you can't help but marvel. Our waitress was helpful in explaining the menu to us. I found the share plates to be expensive but I guess that's what to expect from a cool place in the heart of Fremantle. We decided to stick to the bread with the oils and spreads. We shared the bread with the garlic butter, oil and hazelnut dukkah, harissa pumpkin dip and chorizo. The different breads were all fresh and fun to try with the spreads and dip. The olive ciabatta with garlic butter was my favourite, so much flavour. We really enjoyed the peach and honey smoothie which had the perfect amount of sweetness. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chorizo came with pickles, which provided a delicious combination of salty and sweet with the bread. The sweet treats in the window proved too tempting at the counter so we had a donut, cinnamon scroll and Oreo biscuit to take away, again delicious and fresh!
Meika Atkins
Interesting menu but possibly slightly missed the mark. The menu’s eccentricity makes it difficult to choose share plates for people with different pallets. Furthermore, the eccentricity comes at a price as in could quite easily spend $70 on lunch for 1 and still be left feeling slightly peckish.

poor...we visited on christmas eve morning for brunch. previous trips down have been good, the scrambled eggs and dukkah is one of my all time favs. this time though i ordered the eggs benedict with brisket ($25). what i got was 2 very small overpoached eggs on a small piece of turkish (like) bread, 2 pieces of brisket which were cold-ish and dry, once i got past the sweet bbq sauce the piece of meat was flavourless. maybe next time i should just stick to the scrambled eggs.
Chris
First, a word of caution to people coming here for the first time -- don't fill yourself up on the bread and charcuterie if you're ordering mains as well. Being a bakery as well, they've got a small but delicious range of breads served at just $2 per person. The entrees we ordered to go with it, which included the chicken liver parfait, white bean paste and hazelnut dukkah, went a surprisingly long way over many slices of bread, leaving little room left for the goat & rabbit bolognese and barramundi mains. Clearly not a criticism, we were just hungry and the entrees were so fresh and well made.
That being said, the mains were only a fraction bigger than the entrees so we were able to get through most of it. While we enjoyed the barramundi, the bolognese lacked balance with some of the flavours getting lost in the sauce.
Andyy Leigh
Nice selection of dishes. BLT bacon was excellent! Pork meatballs with hot sauce was amazing. Service was really good as well. Definitely come back for dinner

absolutely wonderful place. been wanting to come here for some time and it was 100% worth the wait. the interior decorations were perfect, especially at night with all the lights on. the food was amazing. it was a large group of us so sharing was easy, and we all got our fair share of their signature bread. a little pricey, but worth it for the setting, especially for a special occasion. definitely recommend trying it out.

Was recommended this place by a cousin and mozied on over for a bite with some family.

Out front has a nice cosy space for seating with a mini herb garden and a planted cover for those sunny days. Inside is spacious with an ample amount of seating that can cater for large groups.

After having a gander at the menu i opted for the lamb ribs with a side of duck fat roasted potatoes.

The ribs were cooked perfectly falling off the bone with little assistance but what really made the meal was the sauce. *drool* The sauce is sweet with a light citrus kick and also paired really well with the potatoes.

The potatoes themselves were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside a great addition to the lamb ribs as a side dish or enjoyed on its own.

The service was great and the staff very helpful.
I enjoyed my meal.

Only downside was that the ribs on its own arent very filling. Bread in common, although good it is on the more expensove side of the spectrum.

Would I return? I would if i was around the area.

Visited 4th November for lunch, took awhile to be acknowledged and strangely seated on a dirty table when plenty of clean available, wait person seemed lax about cleaning table then offering menus. I was desperate for a glass of water and noticed they offer on tables, watched wait person meander floor several times without acknowledging, she had no intentions of approaching us to order despite my desperate looks of thirst following her around the floor. Got up left! family of 4. It was a hot day, offer your patrons a drink!

Love the aesthetics of the place. Love the food in the jars up top. The food is lacking however, been there a few times and chicken was really dry even with the sauce. Chorizo seemed hard. Even bread seem just ok. Nothing like C restaurant at all.
Sarah Howe
I have been here a few times. The ambience in spectacular. The jars looks so nice. However the food is such a let down. Entree Chorizo is just hard and straight off shelf of woolies with a nice dip though. It always taste oxidised. The mains are also on the smaller side. Buttermilk chicken is just sort of bland and ok. Nothing special with food I think.
Ashleigh
Great place, excellent food and fabulous staff who really know their food and wine!!
Went for lunch was great with the sun poking through the giant windows. If you love tapas style dining you can't go past Bread in Common.
TH87
Maybe I am the only one that didn't like the food in this place, the bread was very dry, and my lamb ribs were raw, the ambient and the attention are really nice but I think you pay too much for that food. Is just my opinion.
Willisv119
My wife and I have wanted to try Bread in Common for a while. A mixed reaction. I asked what came with a meat dish on the menu and the waiter told us it was usual to share; so choose a meat dish and then one of the other non-meat. So we ordered the pork belly and the asparagus dish. However, once we shared it out, it did not really amount to 2 meals. It would be too expensive to order 2 meats and 2 veggies. Having said that, it was delicious and the service was good but I don’t think it’s value for money.
Little Aussie Epicurean
A beautifully presented restaurant with delicious bread that's for sure. However I was a bit disappointed with the other dishes available. The ricotta, truffle and honey was admittedly delicious but some of the other dishes felt they lacked balance. The service was also a little lacking. Having to ask multiple waitstaff the same thing. I'm being harsh though because for the same price I would prefer to go to Habitué in north fremantle.

Dinner for two - lovely. Great atmosphere and vibe. Shared bread with olive oil and a white bean rosemary dip - delicious. Shared tuna with beans in a dill dressing, kingfish ceviche and broccoli with tomato and chilli - all fresh and delicious. Lovely wine. Great service. Portions are not generous, the menu is designed for a selection of shared dishes rather than individual mains etc. having said that we will definitely be back as the standard of food was excellent.
Eunice Lau
Great location, fantastic customer service. The presentation and taste of the food is decent, but pricey for such small portions. However, might be worth it for the ambience since it's spacious and well decorated.
Sandhya1814
A very lovely place, have been here for both lunch and dinner. Have even brought some bread too which were so nice and soft. Ambience is really lovely and so are the staffs. A good wine list and choice of food. Liked the fish and lamb. Mainly enjoyed the wine.

I've loved BiC for years, and recently had a group dinner here which was next level. Our group had an array of dietary requirements (vegan, FODMAP, gluten free, you name it) and chef Scott magically put together an incredible menu that meant everyone could eat and enjoy the amazing food. Beautiful wine list, incredible room, great service. The back tables near the bar are the perfect size for groups and a bit removed from the main floor. Thank you so much!
Mauricio Velasquez Jimenez
Best pork belly ever
The friendly service was good
I really like the bread, impressive quality
Little be to expensive for the sizes Vs quality
In general, I'll go back!

Great ambience in this place, great food and drink, great service. Have dined for breakfast, lunch and dinner and enjoyed all. Highly recommend a visit when in Fremantle.

Very nice looking restaurant with all you can eat bread for 2 dollars per person. And finally found a restaurant that serves bone marrow:-) very delicious beef with bone marrow dish :-)

We tried their breakfast today for the first time. The service was good, and our breakfasts were overall pretty great: the bacon was cooked very well, and the avocado and corn breakfast was delicious. Just need to watch the saltiness of the kale, it was a bit too salty. This place is an asset to Freo.

This is only my second time visiting this great restaurant. And I am in love!
I came here to celebrate my mum birthday just. Lovely family dinner
Was able to have such a variety of delicious unique meals and starters
The drinks here are amazing as well and can get creative for just a mocktail.
planning to come here again soo

Great ambiance, set up in an old warehouse with long, shared, tables, although not super private for a date. The premise is really interesting with a heavy WA focus and freshly baked bread. We had bread with garlic butter, ceviche, duck fat potatoes, pork belly, and peanut mousse. All very good although the pork wasn't super tender, would highly recommend the duck fat potatoes. Prices are on the high end, but I guess that's to be expected for WA food.

Came for dinner in a larger group of around 10. Loved this, great wine list, friendly service and tasty food. It doesn't try and do anything crazy but all the dishes were successes. Seemed fairly priced and I loved the open and airy space. Maybe a bit noisy for a date spot?

Good place to go for breaky and a coffee on the weekend. Food is delicious. They also sell fresh bread. The building is also interesting to walk through - my mum had a chat to the chef about the history of the place. Would go again.
Hello You
Poor service: Asked for bread and it never came.
I was looking forward to my venison, however it was very tiny and quite dry.
The atmosphere and ambience are nice; I love the lights and how you can see the chefs cooking.
A lot of room for improvement.

The food was absolutely amazing. We had the sweet potato dish (vegan), the duck fat potatoes (made vegan) and the pork belly dish. All three were mind blowing. Cannot recommend this place enough!!

Had a work function here on the weekend. Food and service was amazing. The set menu came with a lot of delicious food. Had one vegetarian and she had so many options. One dish was crispy chicken with corn and beans. Salmon with zucchini was cooked just right. Worth a visit!

Great food but very poor service

I am at Bread in Common now. Obviously popular as full on a wet Monday night. We enjoyed our food but the service was very disappointing. We had to collect things ourselves - serving spoons, water & had to chase up our orders. It was very disappointing as we've had good service here previously.

An excellent cafe with a difference. You can still get your bacon and eggs but otherwise the menu is such a refreshing change from the usual, and done very well. I had meant to come for over a year as I never get to Fremantle often enough and after eating here vowed to come more often. The setting was so lovely, very pretty and elegant but in an understated and casual way.

I had the duck sausage with cassoulet, and it was just delectable. Although the serving size wasn't huge, it was enough even for a pig like me. Served with a beautifully made slow cooked egg and their famous bread, it was a gorgeous meal - great to see the egg was done truly properly and not just a variation of a runny poached egg like everywhere else, it was properly gelled but still very soft. My friend had an omelette which looked fine but didn't appeal to me, she hadn't realised the huge blobs of spicy sauce were quite intense so I thought that could have been better communicated. My other friend had bacon amd eggs but it was quite impressive - the bacon was especially good and he made me try. Although I prefer thin and crispy bacon (impossible to get anywhere in Perth or so it seems), this was thick cut slab style but the quality was amazing - lots of flavour and so nicely cooked I started salivating when I smelled it. The juice was delicious but very small so even though it was slightly cheaper than other places it was still overpriced.

Service was very good - not particularly friendly but the waitress knew what she was doing and had the sense to come back and check for more drinks etc which for some odd reason a lot of places don't do. I am definitely going back to try other dishes.

What a great looking little place! Vine covered trellis out front and industrial filament-bulb lit high ceiling in a warehouse atmosphere, Bread in Common looks a killer. We went in for a Saturday late morning brunch and managed to catch the breakfast menu. Shared tables contributed to the communal buzz and we were looking at the menu not 5 minutes after getting in.Our cappuccinos arrived fairly quickly and the coffee was great except it could have used a little more heat. Drinkable temperature is one thing but lukewarm cappuccino is never enough to melt away the beery cobwebs from the night before. But then I have no complaints about what came next, my partner chose to have the wild mushroom comte with mushroom ketchup - absolutely packed with flavour, the comte complemented the earthiness of the mushroom and each bite was a delight. I had the pork meatballs with the fried eggs and for fans of meatballs, this is one unmissable dish. The only small minute complaint I would have is the less than luke-warmness of the food. Perhaps it was a busy afternoon, one never knows.

The service was attentive and friendly, the ambiance was excellent and we'd definitely come back to try their dinner menu. Absolutely recommended!

i ordered bread plate and never got it. was told i did not order. food good as always but i rate service this time. no matter how good the food is, if the service is bad, review is bad. no apologize whatsoever make the place even worse.

Mixed reviews for this place, maybe because we heard so much great things and the hype.
When we had brunch there, everything was sharing and not much of a value, but I must say that the food was very interesting as it was a fusion of things.
So I like it in food and fusion but just wished it had more choice and more value for money

Wow!! No words for how delicious this place is! I could just sit and eat the bread all day! We got sharing plates and they were all fantastic. Good coffee also. Carb lovers dream!

Tucked away from the main street but definitely worth seeking out! Delicious food and great service, could not fault it. The smoked beetroot fish i had was amazing and just the right sized meal, the menu is designed for sharing and has heaps of good vegetarian options.

Great ambiance and service! We were greeted with a friendly staff and seated at a shared table which I do not mind. I love to see what other people are ordering before we make the decision on our orders. After looking around for a little while from other tables and talking to the staffs, our decisions falls on the lamb ribs, rib eye and squid dishes. We started off with the bread and olive oil which are so yummy, too yummy that I would be just happy to eat just that for dinner as I am a huge fan of that type of bread. The lamb ribs dish has to be our most favourite dish on the menu. We are not a huge fan of lamb and we love it to bits! The lamb was lightly seasoned and yet the flavour was great and its tender texture amazes us as it falls off the bone. Overall, given the great service, ambiance and good food, we would definitely come back to try their other dishes.

Tapas to die for!

This restaurant has the most amazing chilled vibe with absolutely incredible decor. The space is seriously to die for. I wanted to move in.

Tapas are fantastic. We ordered the pork belly and chicken with some veggie sides (4 dishes in total) and we were sooooo full shared between 2. Great flavours, great staff - love this place!

The food faultless the decor great but you will leave hungry on a dish that costs over $30. We advised the staff and they suggested we order some desert. Great place if you have lots of money to spend and enjoy small serves.

This is one of the most outstanding cafe's that Australia has to offer. I think the food, decor, everything rivals and even surpasses pretty much every place i've tried in Melbourne. The food is unbelievable. We had a variety of dishes including the cauliflower, eggplant. The bread and dips are out of this world. What an absolute gem.

Hands down my favourite restaurant to eat dinner in freo. Absolutely love the food, the service, the bread and even the coffee. The set up is amazing, the staff are friendly and the attention to detail is amazing. Only downfall is that it's always busy! But the experience is always worth the wait!

Was recommended by at least 10 people to eat here as we are from Melbourne.
Hands down one of the best places we have eaten. Perfect food, friendly staff and great atmosphere.
Would love to go back. A must visit!
