Review Istanbul Turkish Restaurant - Fremantle

Sonya Richards
Absolutely amazing, I could legit drink the hommus. If vegetarian meals like this were available everywhere it would be so easy to be vegetarian. The meat dishes didn't look to bad either. The rise was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. 100 percent recommend!

Great Turkish restaurant. The service is friendly, and good is delicious. Great for veggies as well as meat eaters. Would definitely recommend and return back here.

It was my 3rd time to be there and same as before it was a good experience. Delicious foods and dips. Just need to be better in customer service . 20 cents for container to get the left over is not a good idea . overal it's the best option for lunch in Freo when they have a special offer on Scopon.
Sam
Their turkish bread is so fresh! Also their walnut and hummus dip is the best!!!! Yum.

Average taste.. good quality food. Good staff.

I was not impressed about the food, but the service is good. Friendly staff

We had the banquet tonight. The bread, pide and dips were excellent. The service was very very good also. The mains were a mixed bag. Some of the meats were very tasty and some were just kebab meat. The deserts were tasty. Overall the food and experience were homely and Moorish. Nothing fancy but we'll definitely be back. Value for money and hit the spot.

Wonderful experience this Tuesday. We had the set menu and the food was delicious and abundant and they let us take a container home. The waitress was so lovely and the dessert and tea was wondrous. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic fresh flavours, generous servings. Simple understated decor but can’t fault the food! If you’re a foodie, have good company and are on a budget, who really cares about the decor?
Carmen
Friend recommended this place. Had a samsum pide lunch time $15 deal. I don't have Turkish meal often but the pide portion was enough for me and it tasted good.

We absolutely love this place and are regulars. The flavours of the meats are heavenly, the pide and Turkish bread buttery pillow soft and the service always great. The $45 banquet is just unbeatable value but there is something here for even the fussiest eater here, such is the freshness and flavour. One of the best restaurants in freo.

Went here last night for my step daughters 16th birthday and we loved it, my partner and I shared the tasting plate for one and it was more than enough for us, the staff were very attentive and made sure everyone’s food came out together, it was a table of 8, they even put my partners beer in the fridge for him and made sure he wasn’t empty.

What a great place. Family night out for dinner, great staff, amazing food. We had the set menu to taste the different flavors and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely worth the price, massive meals.

FOOD: Really really yummy. Everything we had was very tasty. The turkish bread tasting plate with dip was sooo good.

SERVICE: It was quiet but the waitress was very attentive and the food arrived quickly.

VALUE: The serving sizes are a good size, so definitely worth the money.

AMBIANCE: An older type restaurant but themed nicely.

OVERALL: Very nice and we will return.

The bread is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! So fresh and totally delicious. I’d be happy just having the bread and assortment of dips for a meal. So very yummy!!

Turkish bread and dips were delicious and mains were good too. Good value with BYO and Entertainment guide voucher. This is a go to place for a quickish meal before the Luna cinema.
Service was excellent, very friendly staff & good timing of food. The dips were all delicious and the Turkish bread was fresh and tasty. I found the pide a bit unflavoursome, but not bad.

Came here recently for dinner on a scoopon for two. Absolutely great value and no complaints with the quality of the dishes. First course was a choice of 3 dips served with freshly baked turkish bread. Second course was a plate of lamb, chicken and spinach and cheese pide. Third course was a mixed meat platter served with a garden salad. Enjoyed every course and the food was plentiful. Service was friendly and prompt.I will definitely go back when another scoopon opportunity comes along if not earlier...

Worst ever meal I have has since arriving in Perth 20 years ago, the owner needs to be ashamed to call it Turkish restaurantThe food was pathetic; wait was for 54 mins to get startersPlates were half washed and the toilets were filthy, will write in the WA times too
Courtney
I went here for lunch with a scoopon for 2. We had 3 courses, Turkish bread with 3 dips (beetroot was delicious!), next was 3 different types of pide and to finish off, a plate of mixed meats with rice and salad. Absolutely delicious food, so full, large servings. Good service. Highly recommended.

I am quite surprise with the amt of positive review but i am so disappointed with my experience both with service and food. As much as i would like to give it a second chance and count it as maybe a bad day for them. I am not sure if its worth the monies as the portion sizes are small for its cost, maybe i am paying for the amount of oil they add in the food. I wish they could add more spices and flavour instead of oil. 🤔

This is a good little place. They have awesome fresh breads, amazing dips, the pide is mint. Bit of a hidden gem in a quiet little street off the main strip.

I don't mind the food in this restaurant at all but over the years I have noticed the portions are getting smaller and smaller and the price is going up all the time.

I remember Istanbul so differently - great food and a lively atmosphere - so last night was disappointing. The prices are steep, hovering around $25 for a main, and although portions are very generous, they are not that much better than food hall fare. There are also no sharing options other than the $45 pp set menu. Our meals came out at different times and were lacking any subtlety in taste. The Turkish bread, however, was fantastic but also $$.
Sam
If I could rate them 0 I would. Absolutely shocking service, overpriced small portioned meals. Cheap produce, very tiny amount of meat in meat dishes and covered in excess amount of oil. The decor has been the same since the 90's. No joke. As far as I can remember..... back in 1998. Terrible waitstaff, mostly backpackers, students-they never smile nor take the order in a reasonable time frame. 120 dollars for two for a boring, dated venue with cheap basic food. Let them set up shop in turkey, no one would eat there.

We were looking for something different, and decide on the Istanbul Turkish Restaurant as we had been to Turkey just over a year ago. Had 3 amazing dishes and found it to be better than any restaurant we had been to while we were in Turkey!!!!
Jessica Lynn
Been visiting for years, never been served anything thats less than amazing. Food is always fresh, and bursting with flavour. The breads and dips are the best I've had in WA.
Catalina
Can't say our visit was good value for for money, for $27 my plate was swimming in oil, sauce and dressing with not much meat. I have been here before a long time ago and the food was alot better then. Maybe an update is needed!?
Ben Goodman
i dont eat here much because i'm very used to Turkish food and the menu rarely changes. But all of the lamb dishes are winners and worth going in for. some good salad/side dishes too. I think they hire students and backpackers because the servers have changed evrytime i go, but always pretty friendly

EXCELLENT food and plenty of it!!

Highly recommend the set menu banquet .... HEAPS of food for two people; my girlfriend and I can eat a bit and we were both silenced by the amount of beautiful tasting food - honestly this restaurant is a must. A tad slow on the service for the BYO wine / beer that we had; but it was busy and you can't expect everything. GREAT restaurant, a little hard to find a park but we're going back again, again and again !
Nikki
One of the best turkish restaurants I have been to. Large portions and welcoming staff. Mouthwatering turkish bread and dips. They can do better with the ambience to make it more inviting

Where do I start?
Them Turkish bread tho. IT'S FREAKING AMAZING.

Walked into the restaurant, got a little thrown back by the garish interior.
This place needs an expansion in order to cater to its popular demands. Tables were situated wayyyyyy to close to each other, making the entire experience a little less memorable.
But other than that, I really can't find any more ways to fault this place.

Them Turkish bread - freshly baked, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The sesame seeds bring about a slight sweetness and aroma to the bread. Accompanied with three dips of your choice, this makes the Turkish bread even more invincible. Dip generously into the dips. It may not look like much, but trust me, a basket of bread is way too little if you scrimp on the dips and you'll end up ordering more bread. (Leave space for the other dishes too!)
Lovely waitress gave her personal favourites when I had difficulty in choosing from the plethora of options presented on the menu. The meats were flavourful, the rice was well cooked with coconut milk, and the salads on the side helped balance out the greasiness of the meats.
This place is a gem. Will definitely go back whenever I've got the chance again!

This place is a hidden gem I never knew about. I wanted to try somewhere new from the entertainment book and randomly selected this place. The decor of the place could use a bit of updating.

My partner and I aren't familiar with Turkish cuisine so we decided to try the banquet meal. I think this was the right choice. It comes with so many dishes! We started off with the turkish bread and dips, then to pide, main and then dessert. We restricted our carb intake because we didn't want to spoil our appetite for main. The breads and pide were delicious and it wasn't easy to resist the temptation to clean the plates off. The main's portion was actually not as big as I thought. There were 4-5 dishes all in small quantities placed on one plate surrounding the rice. All these dishes were delicious. The dessert was too sweet for me but my partner enjoyed it.

The only let down was the service. As the night went on and it got busier I felt like we got ignored despite being seated in the hallway (?) where all staff constantly walked past us. Both the main and dessert were served on its own plate with no individual serving plates for us. We had to stop the waitress to get more plates when we realised the staff were not returning with them. I dont know if they expected us to eat from just one plate?

Don't forget this place does BYO (i think this includes beer from what I can see) so make sure to grab a bottle from the bottle shop down the road.

Friendly family style restaurant. Good portions and great tasting food. Large selection on the menu, 5 star feed. Good service and friendly. The homemade dips are really nice.
Affili.atewithfood
Oh god, your Turkish bread is to DIE FOR! So fluffy and warm on the inside with that nice bit of toasty crunch on the outside.

Had your Turkish bread with three dip option... the garlicky one was aaaahhhhh-mazing. Couldn't care if I had to kiss someone afterwards. Because we ate so much of the dips and bread we shared a delicious lamb curry.

And even better was only 20 bucks each! (BYO bonus too!)

Don't be put off by the cheap exterior - the food is worth it.

My wife and I live in Esperance now so get to the Istanbul a lot less than we would like. However is always first choice of restaurant whenever we do go to Perth. The trio of dips with beautifully cooked Turkish bread is sensational. Love the spinach dip and the tahini, but the mahumbra is the greatest dipin the history of the world.
Follow this up with the wonderful Turkish combo for one, and I don't have to eat again for 3 days. My wife thinks the same of the various chicken dishes.Staff are always very friendly, service is fast and efficient and a fantastic place for a superb meal. Would recommend (and do) to everybody.

We enjoyed a lovely three-course lunch at this establishment
on a beautiful sunny Sunday.

The décor is a little tired, and some of the internal walls
are shoddily cladded.

That aside, the service was friendly and efficient and the selection
of dips with hot Turkish bread for starters was very enjoyable.

The next course of very tasty pides stuffed with chicken,
lamb and spinach went a long way to satisfying our appetites.

But then we were presented with a huge mixed grill with an
impressive selection of meats in delicious sauces accompanied with rice and a
crisp, fresh salad. No dinner for us that night!

Our lunch definitely represented good value and we will most
certainly be back to enjoy the fare again.
Marie
Just love this place. Their food has soul, I don't mind to travel across town, freshly baked Turkish bread, homemade dips, shish kebab...must try

Not too bad, the food was filling and the serves were quite decent.

A little pricey, would be great to see more turkish deserts on the menu.

I visited Istanbul tonight for a family dinner. All of the dishes we had were delicious but my kofta was simply divine. On the pink side in the middle -perfect. The yogurt mint dressing made the dish. The staff were very kind and attentive. My little nephew was wandering around the place holding onto either mine or his mums hand and the Taiwanese waitress was really took a shine to him and played with him which was lovely. A very family friendly establishment. Thanks!
Cassie
Had the Turkish bread with dips for starters. The walnut dip was so good! Hummus was quite watery though and not great, and neither was the mushroom dip. Chicken urfa was for main and the sauce that went with the chicken was nice and had good spicy flavour and went well with tabouli and rice.

Went to Istanbul Restaurant last night with a voucher. Brilliant value, delicious dips and fantastic fresh Turkish bread, tasty prides, and nice platter. Very friendly and helpful waitress. Would definitely go again with a voucher deal.

Never again. We went to this restaurant on a scoopon deal.
We happened to be in Fremantle one afternoon and decided to try our luck without a booking. It was 1 o'clock when we arrived and there were only two tables occupied at the time. Our waiter sat us down at a table and gave us menus. I then said we had a Scoopon voucher. He asked if we had a booking and when I said no. He told us he could not serve us!!
Not the best first impression. I understand we should have had a booking but as it was so quiet and he was quite happy to serve us if we were paying we didn't think it should have been such a issue... He was not polite about the situation at all!!!
Returned a few weeks later (with a booking!), didn't think the food was anything special! Did like one of the dips with the bread but agree with other comments. Too much bread! Also all the meat tasted the same. My husband is a big eater but he even got sick of to much bread and meat!
Bad first impression and average food means we will Defiantly not return.

Lunch. We had lunch today Saturday March 7th, the food was delicious and very large portions, highly recommended

Shooting themselves in the foot. Went on a Scoopon deal. Surely the whole point of giving Scoopon deals is to get new business that wants to return and pay full price, so you need to make sure they have a good experience.

Started well, friendly greeting (actually, throughout the waitress was smiling, friendly and great). The Scoopon was a set 3 course meal. We could choose 3 dips to go with the Turkish Bread for starters, but the rest was pre-defined (and we were never told what it would be...). We had a movie to watch at the cinema around the corner after, but had allowed almost 2 hours which we thought should be plenty.

Starter arrived promptly and the dips were really tasty. Good start. Then we waited. And waited. After 30 minutes of sitting sipping our BYO wine we started to worry that maybe 2 hours would not be enough. Waitress was very apologetic but said there was nothing she could do. The restaurant was almost full, but most had a booking, so they knew they would be busy. However, the kitchen could not cope. We were not the only table to start checking watches and asking the waitress when food would arrive.

Finally the next course arrived - more bread (Tide). Tasty, yes, but enough bread already!! Did not each much of this because we didn't feel like eating any more bread. Another very long wait for the last course. Another table got up and left, whilst another one asked for their food to come as takeaway as they had to go....

Ours arrived just in time, but meant we had to eat it in a rush. It was very tasty - variety of lamb, chicken, eggplant, rice, etc. No idea what it was called, we were not told. Ate about half and then dashed off to the cinema.

What can I say? Tasty food. Friendly wait staff. But will we return? No. Scoopon failure. Way too big a wait between courses (not just us!) and too much bread. Better variety is needed for a set meal to introduce people to your menu and get them back. And feeling rushed after 2 hours is just not good.

Staff issues. Took a scoopon voucher, had a really nice bread n dips, the girl who took the order for the mains completely missed out and messed up the order. Amazing food but the staff needs to be more polite, the waitress who messed up should be taught how to take orders and especially the girl wearing glasses inside the kitchen should learn some manners on how to speak with customers. The main chef is a gem of a person no complaint about him.
KAM
Fabulous dining experience. We went on a Scoopon deal, and would definitely return. The deal was excellent value, as the portions were all generous, and the food was delicious. We had so much to eat we took the pide as take-away. The staff member who looked after our table was fantastic - nothing was too much trouble, and she was attentive to our needs. We all love this style of food and have eaten many times, in many locations, and this was as good as anywhere we've been.
Adrian_tear
Poor service. Well we booked a table for 9 for 1pm on Sunday. After settling down ordering a few nibbles and drinks we were informed that the restaurant would be closing at 2.30 pm.
It was a party of 9 for goodness sake and you are threatening to kick us out in an hours time.
obviously making too much money that they couldn't plan to stay open for a few more minutes for their customers.
Not sure my friends or I will ever eat there again in spite of the good food.
Kwinana Fish And Chips
Fantastic. Went there for lunch with my family and everyone loved it. The dips and Pide's were especially popular, even with the kids. Delicious food and huge servings, can't go wrong.
Gorgeous_gal1988
Assume nothing. After being recommended to try this place, I will not be recommending this place to anyone in the future. After ordering a few mains to share once having several entrée dishes to begin with, the chef had the nerve to come and abuse us for not all ordering one each. We are the paying customer and there is not disclosure saying that everyone orders a main is there?? the food was very average and too salty but the customer service left a horrible taste.
Mountain Sven
Rude and dodgy. The chef was the rudest man I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing in a culinary setting. He berated us because not everyone at our table ordered a main. We should have left at that point, but stayed... and paid. Didn't trust the food afterwards though, and especially after he was so visibly angry with us. Really ruined our mood and evening generally. Will not be returning and will make sure I warn all my other friends and relatives away from this point on.

Absolutely fantastic experience on Saturday night! The service was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful; the ambience was great; and the food was delicious!! Couldn't fault a thing!

For entree we had the Turkish bread & dip combo (dips- Cacik, Hummus & Baharatli Patlican, which was superb!); and Chicken mantarli pide - all very filling and tasty.

Mains was the Urfa chicken and Doner mantarli (I think) - my mate and I are big eaters and the serving size was bigger than expected given other reviews on here. Both dishes were well presented and tasted fantastic.

We also had the Falafels, which were nice.

Dessert was also a winner with the Baklava and Turkish Delight!

Highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning! I eat out a lot and this was one of the best experiences I've had in Perth.

Interesting reading previous comments of Istanbul's entertainment feeling cheap and dirty. I have eaten there many times and found the restaurant clean and the atmosphere reflective of a Middle Eastern eatery. As a consumer of Middle Eastern Culture I have always found the dancers to be tasteful and appropriate. Perhaps Kate you need to examine what emotions come up for you around Belly dancers? I know those women are highly trained and have been training for years as dancers, so they deserve to be well paid . It may be a deep emotional issue around exploring your own femininity? Might be worth looking into. The Istanbul is a great place to eat and experience Middle Eastern Culture.

Good food, service and classy bellydancers!. My partner and I have been regulars at Istanbul for a number of years and have been consistently pleased with the food and service- the Turkish bread is the freshest south of the river. I have also seen a few different belly dancers during our many weekend visits, all who have been highly skilled in their art form. I was surprised to read a review saying the belly dancers looked cheap, as the dancers at Istanbul are classy and very family friendly. As it is well known fact that there are dancers on the weekends, I would suggest that this particular reviewer stay away from venues which may promote cultural and artistic expression.
Kate
Bread and dip was delicious and the mains were large, filling and quite nice. However, while the idea if entertainment at dinner seemed like a great idea, the paid belly dancer/ other dancer (you get the idea...) did not make for a good atmosphere, felt cheap and dirty.
Anthony Votano
Food ok but very expensive. Food was ok, nothing special. Kids meals were great but adults meals were more than twice the price of kids meals for the exact same serving size. Nearly $30 for a main which included 20 cents worth of rice, a small amount of plain salad and a tiny serve of meat is ridiculous.
Erik Champion
Very filling and very tasty; not hugely atmospheric but cheerful enough ; did not see seafood dishes and some vege dishes better than others but overall recommended! And very big servings.

Voucher equals less food. We went to Istanbul Restaurant because of a voucher, starts off with turkish bread with 3 dips, followed by pide of 3 different meant, then the mix platter for two to share. The dips were good, so was the bread. The Pide was rather small, it was actually one small size Pide, with 3 lots of assorted filling inside the one pide, and then cut up....not nice. The biggest let down was the mix platter. IT WAS A PLATE FOR ONE....i really cannot believe they call it a mix platter for two to,share. I could have eaten the whole plate on my own. On the menu there is a set meal for a minimum of two people, and the waitress says it is the same size. Not good value, go somewhere else. The local turkish takeaway at vic park or similar gives better food. My first and last.
Ben
Very tasty food must try. Decided to go visit a friend near Fremantle and decided to make a night out of it. Looked on Urbanspoon and this came up at 90% rating. We ordered the Turkish bread with 3 dips, walnut, homus, and potato and salt. All dips were great. I also ordered the mix grill for one. It had a bit of everything and was also very tasty. highly recommended will be going back for sure

Take out issue.. Been here every once in a while for years now, always really happy with the food, the fresh bread, the pide's, and etc. are quite nice. However, this past Sunday, drove ask the way from Trigg specifically for pide at this restaurant, was around 1pm they are busy, but since I was alone, decided on take out. Waiter asked if I needed something, made my order, but then was told they weren't doing take out at the moment.
I left annoyed and confused. Take out is easy, you cook it, wrap it, and don't have to clean up after the patrons. Also, had take out before at around the same time, no issue. No where in the menu did it mention take out hours, never actually heard of it at any restaurant that offers take out.
Shame, food is delicious, but their rules are absurd.
Food Lover
Amazing Food!. Love this place! First time I tried was on a Scoopon voucher and it exceeded my expectations. The bread is the best Turkish bread I have ever tried and the dips were wonderful too with so much selection. Meat was perfectly cooked and the atmosphere was great. I will be back on a Friday for the belly dancing and another Turkish Feast!
Michael
Great food, enormous serving sizes, pleasant and attentive staff but PLEASE give the toilets a much needed clean. They are disgusting!
Yenyen.foodielife
Dined in with scoopon vouch $39 three course lunch/dinner for 2.. Good to see other voucher diners.. Great value vouch for so much tasty food.. And what i like about the offer is the choices that they give out.. Each course comes in various types / fillings.. First: Warm turkish bread with 3 dips that we can pick from 12 choices.. we got beetroot, muhambura, baharatli patlican.. Dips were all lovely and full of flavours, turkish bread also great and nicely toasted.. Second: Pide with 3 different fillings of chicken mushroom, lamb, veggies.. Chicken mushroom were yummm, disappointed with the lamb as i think it was bit overpowered with the spices.. Third: mixed grilled of shish kebab, chicken in yoghurt sauce, kofta, fourth dish, with rice and salad.. Unlike other waitress, the pretty french waitress failed to tell us which is which.. So we had to play guessing game.. I didnt really like the chicken, but the kofta was nice and medium cooked.. Theres a dish (no idea what its called) with eggplant that was so amazing.. We had to take away some leftover coz it was too much food.. Plus we wanted to try their semolina cake.. Cake was not bad but for $6.50 i think it was a little bit too small.. Bout 40 mins away from where i lived, would come here more often if i was one of the local.. Good place, i give it 7/10.. Give it a try..
Love Eating Out
Amazing Food. We ventured out on a Thursday night with a scoopon. We had entre of bread and a choice of 3 dips. They were all delicious but the eggplant one was outstanding. Then we had 3 different types of pide. Again delicious. They were thin and well cooked. Very flavorsome. Then came a plate with a variety of meat and rice in the middle. The flavors were unbelievable.
A fantastic meal and we will definitely return. The decor was great - obviously new after some of the other reviews. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
Heather D'Uva
Great food, great service and lovely atmosphere. We came here with a scoopon voucher and will definately come again.
Emma
Very disappointing. The dips were quite tasteless and there wasn't much of them. We shared a selection including falafal, tabouleh, a chicken dish,a lamb dish, the potato sald and a vegetarian pide. I found the meat of low quality and dry even though they were swimming in oil based sauces that I could hardly stomach. The falafal and tabouleh unimpressive and bland. The only postive was the friendly service and the neat and very clean surroundings. Overpried for the quaility especially given I went to a similar price level Lebanese earlier in week that was divine.
Anne_103
Great!!. We went here last night for dinner and had a more than fantastic meal. Looking at the place we felt unsure of what we were in for but were quickly proven not to judge a book by its cover. The service was fast and friendly and the food delicious. We had the warm turkish bread and dips (which was amazing) and a lamb dish each for mains. They were large in size and very tasty. I would love to come back!
Tried And Tested
Awful waste to time and $$'s. Miffed at all the good reviews!!
Highlight of visiting this restaurant was the service....it ends there.
I was most disappointed with the food indeed I found it inedible and certainly would not recommend others to waste their money when there are so many other restaurants to visit in Fremantle.
LittleElvisMonkey
Good humble food. Trust the % rating for this place - it's not fine dining but it's bloody tasty humble food! The bread is awesome and there's a good range of dips. I had the lamb kofte which just tasted great and the simple rice and salad to accompany worked well. The other half had the kulas (lamb with chilli and mushroom sauce) which he really enjoyed too (and he can be very picky!). Staff were friendly and efficient. 25% off from the Entertainment Book and $5 corkage made it great value too!
Hdod4474
Worst ever awful food. Worst restaurant ever I think those posts praising the restaurant were written by the owner or the staff. Pide is below ordinary. Pide did not even feel or taste like a pide. Our corner kebab shop makes better ones . They got my order wrong . Then that aryan drink is like a spoilt milk . The other order was chicken topkan . Meat was really hard could not cut with any ease. Tomato gravy tasted like the worst pasta sauce from jar. It is sinful to give this kind of awful food and charge this much of money . I will never go and not let anyone go ghere. Avoid this horrid place
Simone Hendry
Absolutely delicious food!! We came here with our scoopon voucher as we love trying new places and wow - 10/10!!!!
Jim
It's 4pm on Saturday in Freemantle. Why is it closed???
Heather
I thought this was overpriced for a spoonful of rice, warm salad, and sloppy meat - I couldn't eat it - but perhaps I was just having a bad day!
Luke
Great food, Good service, Reasonable price and a belly dancer... Can't get much better than that!
Allison_b45
Delicious!. Used a Scoopon and went with hubby. The set menu consisted of 3 dips of your choice (we had the cucumber & mint, the walnut & tahini and the beetroot) with a basket of warm turkish bread - for starters. This was followed by Pied which were of the spinach & cheese, lamb & chicken & mushroom varieties. Then the mains was a dish of rice, lamb koftas and a variety of lamb, chicken and eggplant dishes with a side of salad. EVERYTHING was so tasty! The service was brilliant the setting superb. We aren't big eaters so there was a lot left over but you have the option of taking that with you. Would love to go back - highly recommend it :)

A Real Feast. Went here on a Scoopon Voucher with my son, the set menu was fabulous, the dips were different and the Pide was sensational. If there was one thing wrong was too much food and I couldn't stop eating, fortunately sweets were not part of the deal they could have seriously damaged us. Worth a trip to Fremantle.
Table80
I love your pide!. And warm bread with dips, but seriously, best pide I've had in Perth so far. I have never been able to finish a main meal because I stuff myself with the delicious fresh bread omg so good.. I adore this place, and would make every effort to come here for that Turkish food craving.

Great Turkish Food. My partner and I went to Istanbul for lunch last week. Was welcomed inside by and friendly staff member and we ordered the set menu for two. Started with bread and dips, followed by a selection of Pides then finished with a mixed grill, rice and salad. There was also desserts but we got them packed to take home as we were too full. All very delicious but I would say that all in all too much bread in the set menu. Look forward to returning to try some other dishes. Really good dining experience!
Gabriela Olekszyk
Best turkish food. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. It's hard to resist delicious warm bread with dips as entree to share but then I can never finish the main :)

We received Good service from the moment we walked in.we started with bread and dips followed by 3 delicious dishes from the lamb section, the lamb was lean and tender.we would've eaten more if we could fit it in. Yummm!

Great ambiance and terrific service but most of all fabulous food. Outstanding flavours, well priced and highly recommended.

Small serves. Used to love this joint, but lately the serving size has gone down. Food quality still good. Best bread and dips. Unfortunately not value for money for me anymore.
Tim
Well Worth a Try. Great little gem tucked away in Fremantle. The service and food were excellent and it's nice to find a BYO restaurant for a change. I don't mind paying corkage, it's still cheaper than buying from the wine list.

Great!. Brilliant service. Tasty food!

Recent decor renovations add warmth to this lovely place. The Turkish belly dancer is amazing and the food is just amazing! Felt like I was in Turkey :))

Instanbul Turkish at its Best. The food is just delicious, service great and huge portions. The selection of dips is huge and fresh, we love the Mahumbura. The mains we have tried are extremely tasty. Can't fault this restaurant at all. We've used vouchers and dined without, a must try if you haven't.

The best Turkish restaurant in Perth. Regularly go here it's good value and consistently outstanding food. If you go to the restaurants with voucher deals, they usually give you half portion of the meal

BUT... not this one! They give you large portions, no matter you pay full price or not, the best Turkish restaurant in Perth

A-MAZING!. The food is just delicious, my diners and I gobbled up everything without pausing! We had the turkish bread with trio of dips (beetroot one stood out for me) and a chicken + mushroom pide (the cheese in this was delightful, different to your normal cheese) for starters. Then the Chicken Spinach, Lob Sarma and Chicken Shishkebab for mains - even the rice was worth devouring once you mixed it with the yummy dressing / sauce. Following this, though we should have stopped eating but we shared a piece of Turkish Delight, Baklava & Revani all of which were freshly prepared - yummmmm!

It was absolutely packed but this did not affect the service and the belly dancer was good fun to watch as she mingled with other restaurant go-oers.

Would be going all the time if it wasn't so far from me :(

Food is to die for. The restaurant has a great decor and located in the famous foodie road. We ordered 6 different dips and 2 baskets of Turkish bread to share. We almost licked the plate clean as dips are so beautifully made together with a lovely golden Turkish breads. The menu has an extensive list of dishes and it is not easy to pick one each. Each main arrived within 15 mins on a big warm plate with a very generous serve. The service is prompt and friendly. We definitely will go back to try more dishes from the menu.

Istanbul - Fremantle. Just came back from Istanbul...in Fremantle :) can't move anymore! The dinner was soooo nice! We actually had a scoop on deal - I would say 10 out of 10! Unbelievably yummy! Their home made turkist bread is to die for - dips are so good too. When the maines came out...i was quite full already, but the portions were massive! My hubby had lamb saslik with rice and salad - such a good flavour combination and I had chicken breast stuffed with pistachios and cheese etc...yummm - so goood! After we had a desert place to share .... at that stage I was so full that could hardly breathe...but couldn't leave the desserts on plate, as they were so goood too ;)
Overall - we would recommend everyone and anyone to go there and have one of the best tasting dinners!
Very happy customers ;)

My family's Istanbul experience was on of the best nights that we have ever had at a restaurant. The service was friendly, fast and with lovely smiles on staffs faces. Entree's were tasty and flavoursome. Main course were packed with beautifull flavours. We were entertained by a beautifull belly dancer who interacted with all diners and danced with my younge daughter and made her feel very special. The atmosphere was so friendly and fun. I can't wait untill we go back in the future. Istanbul was a memorable experience.

What's not to like. Food delicious. Service fast and friendly. Generous portions. Went early on a Saturday evening without a booking and enjoyed every minute. Had turkish bread and dips for starters though and wasn't impressed with the smoked eggplant dip. Tasted more like tatziki. Maybe we got that by mistake. The cracked wheat and crushed walnut dips were fantastic though. Mains were lover and good size. Chicken iskender and lamb urfa I think.

The food was delicious and authentic. The prices were higher than we were expecting though. Mains are 25-30$ rather than what is posted on here.
I recommend, however, not as a cheap eat out. This is a monthly affair rather than a weekly dinner.

Great food and well priced. Went with a group of 5 and all the dishes were excellent. Lamb was very succulent and had great flavour. Eating out for under $30 a head with belly dancing and BYO, can't argue with that.

Istanbul Turkish Restaurant is about to turn 20. A restaurant doesn't last that long unless they're doing something right!! I used to work there and currently they are doing renovations to match the opulence of the food. From what I have seen the food and decor will harmonize to produce a greater dining experience.
Love this place

The decor is a bit cheap and cheerful, but look beyond that and the food and service are great. We went as a family group, and were accommodated with a big table. We started with dips and pide, both of which were delicious. The potato and lamb pide was especially good. We then had a mains each. I had the chicken Sarma, which comes with rice and a simple salad. The chicken was covered in a rich red sauce that was spiced but not hot. We had coffee to finish, which was nice - not the best I've had but definitely good.

My favourite. Best food in Fremantle!! Doesn't matter how many times I go there, I just love it. The atmosphere is fantastic too...you could be eating out in Turkey for all you know. Make sure you order the walnut dip and there is live entertainment (fabulous belly dancer) Friday and Saturday nights.

Never disappoints. Love their lamb and chicken dishes with rice. Good food and service. They also have dancers on fridaysand saturdays which livens the place up more. Miss this place.

Great Food. My wife and I have been travelling great distances to get our favouite food from Istanbul and regularly travel from Waroona to pick up. There is never any doubt in our minds what we are having for dinner if we need to head to Perth or Fremantle for a day. Istanbuls it is for the best donor kebab (on a plate) with turkish bread and dips.....mmmmm heading there tomorrow.

Cheap and cheerful. Overlook the decor and noise. This place is fine if you want a tasty meal for a reasonable price. Plenty to choose from for vegetarians.

Family Favourite. My family and I have been dining at Istanbul Turkish Restaurant for many, many years; I believe the first time we visited was 9 years ago- and we have left happy with the experience each and every time. I am part Turkish and have visited extended family abroad numerous times. And let me tell you- the food served at Istanbul Turkish Restaurant is 100% authentic (not the style in which it is served- but the food itself is!).

Turkish cuisine is one of my favourite in the world and it pains me to think that most people only associate it with generic "kebabs" and "gozleme" (which mind you are only fast foods in Turkey!). Real Turkish cuisine is full of flavour, colour and aroma and the chef here truely captures this. It's hard to just recommend a few dishes because I like everything here, but I have to say that each and every time I visit this restaurant, I order a "chicken kavurma pide" to share with the table. Basically it is a delicious loaf of Turkish bread, stuffed with chicken, tomatos, onions, capsicum, herbs and spices, and a delicious sauce. Great to share with the table. Also, my personal favourite is the Lamb Iskender- slices of lamb and chunks of turkish bread covered in a red and a white sauce. Sounds basic? Tastes awesome! Trust me! By the way- the matre de has been working there since my first visit ever, so please ask her to make some recommendations for you- she really knows the menu!

My parents used to take a lot of overseas and local visitors here for dinners and I've never heard a complaint. Now that I'm older, I find myself doing the same and ordering for my friends and I! Great atmosphere on Saturday nights as well with the added festiveness from the belly dancer! Yes is it a little pricey- but I think it's worth it for authentic Turkish food and a great night out once in a while!
