Review Parlapa - Fremantle

Brian ZP
Super cosy, Italian restaurants run by italians. Food was hearty and in big portions. Only one baby chair as mentioned by another reviewer. Enough space for about 20 diners so may be crowded at times. Prices were very reasonable. Food was great - the minestrone was really excellent!!

Kids friendly (they have one highchair, and an awesome serving of kids pasta) Just shed a tear eating some beautiful pasta at Parlapa, tasted like my Nonna's in Italy🥲💓 Simple, affordable, quick&friendly service, and DELICIOUS, this place deserves more credit! The kids pasta was huge (and the adults loved finishing it too). The ravioli were the best I had outside Italy. Cheap coffee too. Check it out when you're in Freo!

Had the minestrone soup with pulled beef and it was delicious! Came with some bread to dip in and it was just perfect! The prices are so affordable for the size and the quality is superb! Home made and fresh! If you’re in Freo come here you won’t regret it! 🙌🤩

Parlapa (means 'Speak' in English) restaurant started 8 years ago. They serve authentic northern Italian food. Ms Ada recommended spaghetti carbonara. It was delicious. The spaghetti was imported from Italy. The thick spaghetti came with crispy and soft bacon, creamless carbonara sauce and good cheese. The tasty Piccola was brewed from Karvan's arabica beans. Coffees here are priced at around $3.90. Gnocchi, ravioli and lasagna are all handmade. The staff here were very friendly and made me feel at home. Nice and clean restaurant. Cheers! (2021-11)

Excellent italian lunch place. Very authentic flavours. We had the Ragu with short pasta (penne) and the Gorgonzola sauce with gnochi. Both tasted great. We will be back for sure the next time we are in Freo.

Have come here several times over the past few years and have always loved the food! Recently we had the Spaghetti Carbonara and the Ravioli with Speck and Potatoes - they were both really tasty as usual and a good price for the quality and quantity. Thanks so much - we’ll be back soon! ❤️🤤

We ordered the gnocchi ragu, gnocchi gorgonzola, Alfredo and short pasta with creamy grana padano sauce. The food was delicious, the gnocchi was light and the sauces were tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

So glad we discovered this little gem. The food, coffee and service were excellent and the place is full of character. My partner had scrambled eggs on toast and I had the ragu gnocchi. Both were so full of flavour and just the right size serving. Would 100% recommend.

Quite simply, this family run restaurant is one of the best eating places (and one of the best kept secrets) in Fremantle. Always great food, superb coffee, friendly customer service, classic décor and a menu to appeal to raging appetites or a quick snack. Very affordable too. Long may you run, Parlapa.

The place looks like nothing special, but when you give it a try... so delicious spinach ricotta roll like never before and best service, too :))

From the first bite of pasta to the last spoon of coffee...what a supreme, delicious meal!!

Yummy yummy Gnocchi. Let be this place. Good food, great people.

So, so, SO much better than any of the "Italian" on the strip. The food is always fantastic and much better value by far, full of love and quality prioritised over fancy presentation. I'm currently in raptures over the gnocchi - fluffy-light-as-a-cloud factor truly dreamworthy. Now my go-to Italian, what a tragedy they are not open for dinner! ❤️❤️❤️
Tony Farinaccio
Love this place and been going since day one....very friendly, passionate people great food and service.

Simply the best home style Italian food money can buy in Perth!

Excellent Torino cuisine in a family-run restaurant. Ada and Giorgio are very kind and gracious hosts and opened the restaurant for our group for dinner on a public holiday. Homemade gnocchi in ragu, fresh tasty salads and lovely desserts. Genuine warmhearted hospitality. Highly recommended. Don't mind the building works across the road as there is plenty of parking nearby. Grazie mille, auguri per un felice 2017!

We were there at breakfast which is normally not a good time for pasta as the kitchen has not had time to get organised. In this case, it all went well. The creamy lemon saffron ravioli was good. The egg mushroom and sausage omelette was plain but well made. We enjoyed the ambiance and the staff were lovely. Reasonable coffee and good polenta biscuits.

It is a small cafe that serves authentic Italian food. The manager and staff there were very friendly. Food was tasty! The Hot chocolate was decent. Will visit again in the future.
Emma Liana
The best carbonara I've ever had (and I'm Italian/Sicilian), and the most wonderful staff. I highly recommend Parlapa and will continue to come back again and again. Love it!

Over pricing for 🍝 pasta dishes that you could have made it at your own home! The pasta was not bad but again you can cook it yourself. The owner is friendly and the food portion was generous.
Gourmet John
A HIDDEN GEM! Beautiful, authentic Italian food in a casual setting. Gnocchi with Ragu was a real standout, but all the dishes we ordered were very flavourful. Owner operated, chef/Nonno in kitchen, his wife runs front of house with their daughter. Nonno/chef is happy to come and chat about the food and process. Gourmet John is Italian and his papa commented that he had not tasted Gnocchi so good since Nonna. Not even in Melbourne could we find such authentic flavours.

the food is amazing and really well
priced. The staff are friendly and happy to help you out! I like that this place is well hidden so not too busy
Sara
nice Italian family, fresh and tasty food. I visited for breakfast but i will be back for sure for lunch. Really nice place in the centre of Freo.

Beautifull Cafe / lunch bar and warm welcome . The pasta is delicious and the service too. We will definitely go back for lunch or breakfast.

Hidden off the beaten tracks of the Cappo strip is this authentic Italian café with all the charm and flavour. I went for brekkie on a wintery rainy day and was the first in. Service was warm and friendly. I ordered the omelet filled with sausage and mushrooms with homemade bread, and a long Mac topped up. I sat next to the wonderful tiles on which customers had left messages for the café; wonderful touch. The food and coffee came out together. Coffee was excellent, and the omelet was very good too. And for the record, they still have the $5 muffin and coffee special which is a wonderful deal for Freo. I will have to come back and try this along with their famous pastas.
Cake Is My Weakness
Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to order any food. Although the three of us had already been at the table for 15mins, enjoying our iced coffees, looking at the lunch menu and chatting, a group of 4 walked in and we were immediately ordered to move to a such much smaller 2 person table.

My iced coffee was actually quite nice and I'd heard about the authentic food, so was looking forward to it. However our new table was too small, the new chairs uncomfortable and we were plonked right next to the drinks fridge. The smaller table was barely big enough for our drinks so decided to eat somewhere else.

This place could learn a thing or two about customer service. This one incidence of rude service left a sour taste in my mouth and I probably won't be back.
Popped into this Italian cafe for breakfast this morning. Have always walked past its colourful window panels which never fail to attract my attention. I suppose this is first and foremost a pasta place rather than a breakfast place. The menu attests to that. I like the look of this small eatery. It's got an assortment of tables and chairs and has a white tiled wall on which, I believe, past patrons scribed/drew on the tiles. Very interesting. I couldn't really have a good look at the entire wall cos' there were 2 tables placed against it and there were customers sitting there. Like I said, the breakfast menu is very limited. I ordered a big breakfast that comes with coffee for only $17.50 (quite a bargain). The flat white was a bit of a disappointment for me cos' it was weak and not hot enough. I was drinking cool not warm coffee 10mins after it was served. The big breakfast does not come with mushrooms and tomatoes unlike most of the big breakfast meals elsewhere. I would have preferred that I was given an option on how I want my eggs done. It was served scrambled only. The french toast was bland according to my taste. I could not taste the egg on the bread. However I like the crispy bacon strips cos' I could hold them up and munch on them instead of slicing them with a knife and using a fork to eat them. I suppose they could be serving great pastas which I didn't have a chance to try today. So, this review is only for the breakfast. I would have given it a higher score if only the coffee were better. Btw, the staff there is friendly.

Cozy Place, Beautiful Homemade Pastas & Lovely Services. Hidden Treasure in Freo. I love their Fresh Coffee w/Nutella (cannot remember the name, start with "B") Delizioso! 😋😋

The best of the best in Fremantle true Italian

Parlapa = genuine Italian food, made with love. I'm Italian so I know a little about Italian food and culture.
You will eat at Parlapa the way you eat in an Italian's home; there is concern for your well being, not just your appetite.
Pasta al Parma: great tasting sugo with good acidity and spaghetti al dente
Pasta al Pesto: rich yet fresh and well balanced pesto with al dente pasta
Salad basket: substantial, great texture and dressing, I am not a vegetarian and enjoyed it
Bicerin: like a coffee mocha, but with hazelnut and cream added...mmm, dreamy
Suffice to say, go to Parlapa, eat and dream of Torino.

Forget eating in any of the cafes in the Cappucino strip in Freo which are touristy. Just off the beaten track one block away next to the town hall click tower is a hidden gem serving home-cooked Italian food from Torino. Family-run, authentic delicious food especially home made gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce served in a Parmesan wafer basket us to die for. But must call before hand for this. Also try salad, Torino choc dessert n coffee lined with Nutella...yum

Like, like, like, like, like!! Great atmosphere, friendly service, lovely food/coffee, and very reasonable prices. $5 for a muffin/pastry and a coffee is a bargain for Freo. I'm looking forward to trying lunch here! Different specials available daily and they all sound drool worthy.

Home style italian family restaurant. This place is run by italians and the home made pasta is divine at the right prices with traditional sauces. coffee is good, the cake was divine and they were nice to let our dog sit under the table. a real gem in a town full of good cafes!

Wow, just wow. We had breakfast here in early September. One full breakfast, one Italian breakfast. Every element done with love and care. The home made bread was phenomenal. The coffee brilliant. I was so overwhelmed with joy from the food I actually hugged the chef. Will be going back for breakfast today.

This place is rather quaint, but the food they serve is unpretentious and absolutely devine. Teaches you not to judge a place by its decor.

A genuine feel good pasta experience. Parlapa is a small treasure. Tucked away in an unpretentious hideaway in William St Parlapa is 100% genuine. and friendly. The food is authentic, simple and affordable and the cafe feels as comfortable as an old shoe. Parlapa reminds me of some of the traditional Italian cafes in Buenos Aires.

Gracia Ada!

What a joy. Are you around Freo and lust for a nice muffin? don't waste your time, here you can get a freshly baked muffin that you never forget, and as well with an amazing coffee that will blew your mind...
but if you are popping at luck time then get the gnocchi, super yummies the "alla bava" with melted cheese on top.
and if you fancy a different breakfast don't miss the "italian" amazing prosciutto with mozzarella.. definitely the best experience in Freo.
and finally you can get the proper bicerin!!

Best coffee'n'muffin deal...Ever. Having worked in the central Fremantle area for a solid year I've had the opportunity to sample many different dining establishments of varying prices and offers. The coffee and service has always been great at Jambo and That Coffee Spot while the breakfasts are always super top-notch in a simple, non fussy way at Culleys. Walking to work today I strolled into Parlapa which is a small Italian style lunch bar which has just opened. Their pasta dishes and bread are home made and the lady who runs the store is the sweetest person you could imagine ordering your morning coffee from. Talking of coffee, for a lazy 5'er I got superb tasting coffee and a home-made blueberry muffin, warmed up just-so because she said that's how it's best enjoyed. And damn she was right. I got a take-away pasta dish from there for lunch yesterday. After only getting halfway through I had to handball the rest to my mate Hitchy next door because it was so filling. Great value and service. If I was Kevin Parker I'd rename my band Tame Imparlapa!

Superb Turin-style coffee and cakes. Brilliant coffee and cakes, Turin-style. The only place in Perth you can get a bicerin (Torinese speciality), made with a custom Karvan roast, as well as Piemonte pasta dishes. Outstanding!

Very pleased. Have had take away lunch from here a few times and it has always been very tasty. The bread is home made and everything always tastes fresh. The staff are lovely too.

This place is pretty amazing if you're after authentic italian pastry and coffee. Been several times now and every time I've been highly impressed by how bloody good it all tastes.

Love this place!! We got totally addicted to Italian pastries when we travelled there last year and were over the moon to find the real thing right here at home in Freo! Since discovering it last week we've visited three times! Just to prove that it is the real thing, it was full of young Italian students getting their fix of delicious rolls and pastries when we went there today. It's also a total bargain compared to average prices in Freo, we got a hot drink and large pastry special for $5.
Saskia
The bread on the rolls is really sugary and tastes ok, exactly like maccas, but is not good if you don't wanna die of a coronary. Not a regular eatery more suited to a treat yourself joint. Also the African woman here overcharged me for a roll, the girl told me it was 5 and then the lady sent her away and changed it to 7, but by then it was already packaged up so I had to pay. This was just before close too, and normally after 4 rolls are cheaper not more pricey
Atomicbrunette
Everything here is delicious Nd the staff are really lovely. Biscuits are their speciality but the sandwiches are also a treat. Our entire office is semi-addicted. Definitely a must for any euro file in fremantle!
