Absolutely delicious. For two adults and a child (11yrs) We ordered; Steamed prawn dumplings Steamed chicken dumplings BBQ fried rice (large) Honey Spare Ribs Salt & pepper fried squid Portions were good sizes The rice was more than enough for 3 even 4 people The bbq ribs were so tasty Would definitely recommend Definitely didn’t leave hungry that’s for sure. Staff were very nice and attentive Will definitely return

I must say the best fresh seafood fried rice I’ve ever had in my life. The portion for a fried rice can be shared bet. 2-3 people. I first went there in January and now it’s been already the 4th times I dined in and 2 times did takeaway. The service is quick and staffs are very polite. Will definitely be back again!!

A very pleasant experience on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was quite busy and yet, the staff made all possible effort to keep us happy and comfortable. Delicious dishes, prompt service (after ordering) and good ambiance. There was no background music, which in a way was good because people could speak softly and still hear each other. All in all, a comfortable evening during generally uncomfortable times.

We had take about eating here for so long and finally got around to it after about 20 years. Fantastic food and fantastic service. Superb presentation and wonderful flavours.

Absolutely hands down the best Chinese restaurant. Highly recommend. Service is 10/10, food is 10/10, ambience is 10/10...what else could you ask for? Oh and all this 10/10 on Mothers Day in a fully booked restaurant. Absolutely loved it. If you haven't been, you should go. If you have been, you should go again!

Dinner tonight at Joy Kitchen was excellent. The service we received from the wait staff was excellent! The food was delicious too. Just felt a little rushed between entrees and mains but they apologized for the early delivery of our main meal. Overall a very good experience and I would recommend them if you're looking for a good Chinese meal with very good service and a lovely spot in Fremantle. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening..

Bullet proof. The best Chinese in Perth and WA wild caught seafood. Consistent. I’m a hard marker and this place is always excellent. There’s a reason it’s full on Tuesday. Thanks guys x

Always enjoyed joys kitchen. The staff and quick, friendly, and helpful. There are plenty of options to choose from including 6 different banquet options. The food is cooked well and which is why I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for amazing asian food.

I simply think this the best food in Fremantle and value for money. More importantly why I rate it highly is my husband has some rare allergies to some vegetables including nuts. They were so astute and respectful about checking the order we had a perfect meal. No epipen required

Food was amazing but experience was poor. Husbands 50th birthday - requested a table in 2nd room or up on the raised platform (quieter areas) at time of booking. Was told that wasn't a problem. On arrival we were sat in the middle of the restaurant in front of the register, was noisy with people constantly coming and going. Wouldn't normally be an issue but this was a special occasion being my Daughters 19th and my Husbands 50th Birthday. When I explained that we had been told we could have a particular seating area when booking, staff didn't seem to care. Very noisy and impossible to communicate with our guests. However, the food is AMAZING. Every dish was absolutely delicious, fresh and full of flavour.

I'm from Melbourne and every single time I come to Perth joy kitchen is a must. On my recent trip my friend came with me and she has never been to Perth. She absolutely loved the food just as much as I did!!!! This time I ordered something a bit different than usual (lemon chicken) and I couldn't get enough of it!! Value for money and the service is wonderful. Very kind waiters. Will be back next time!

Have been going to Joys for the past 10 years and have never been disappointed. Great service and food.

One of our Favourite Restaurants,we frequently dine there not The Cheapest but absolutely tasty Food . The service is great specially The young Man who serves us is an asset to the Owners of that Business. Strong recommendation if one wants quality Asian in Freo and The wine list reasonably priced .Cheers

Came here today, and ordered the Szechuan Chili Chicken with Cashews; Beef with Black Bean Sauce; and Cantonese Fried Rice. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was divine. I will definitely be returning!

The duck wraps are to die for, lovely, clean, fresh food! I'm a Pomme and it's the best Chinese I've tasted.
Lisa Orton
Lovely resturant food was yummy and waitress was great with our boys. Took in our own birthday cake and candles and they turned the lights off and sang happy birthday when bringing it to table.
Colleen Buck
Amazing food, table view and service! My first visit but I will definitely be back! Chicken satay was TDF as was the Asian greens of broccoli, snow peas with fresh garlic and ginger and seafood fried rice! Yummo 🙏💋👏👏👏👏
Robert Andrew Scullen
Excellent food, Excellent selection, Excellent service at great prices. Strongly recommended.
Mary Richards
Best Chinese in Freo. Can't fault any of the food ever. Cantonese rice to die for.
Dianne Worthington
Food is always sensational. Staff are awesome. Duck crepes to die for. Waiting for next birthday to come around.
Gabrielle Vegar
Food is awesome....the best Chinese food around Fremantle :) love the duck pancakes
Angelique Lee
Brilliant as always. Best Chinese food in Perth with friendly service and not extortionate.
Roslyn Watt
Great food. Good service. Had a lovely time. Highly recommend it.

So let me start by saying, the reason I went to Joy Kitchen is because I walk past it nearly every day and it is literally. always. full.. I’m not kidding, any night of the week, from the moment it opens until late at night they are just packed. Perhaps this was why I had high expectations, or maybe I was just excited to have Chinese food, but I was disappointed. It wasn’t bad or anything, it was just fine. Decent. Ok. <br/><br/>The Szechuan stir fry was surprisingly bland and the beef was extra slimy, and the Singapore Noodles were not as flavorful as I was hoping they’d be. The service wasn’t great either, all the staff seemed very stressed and pressed for time, as they came to take our order about two minutes after giving us our menus, then once our order was taken they would not look at us again. I actually didn’t order anything to drink because every time I tried to get someone’s attention they would either tell me to hold on (and not come back) or ignore me. <br/><br/>Aside from the food and poor service, the factor that really put me off was how loud the restaurant is. There’s no background music or anything, but tables are packed so closely together that the whole place just gets so loud. I’ve been to nightclubs that were quieter. <br/><br/>Overall, I wouldn’t really recommend Joy Kitchen. If anything, maybe just for takeaway.

This place never disappoints.  Always great food and easy to get a table if you don't go at the peak times.  <br/><br/>The best place in freo for Chinese.
SweetPoison
Nice atmosphere. Fish was amazing! Disappointed they could grill the satay chicken- had to be deep fried apparently. Also the waiter said only had like for corona but when we saw lemon chicken on menu we asked for a lemon wedge which they were able to give us. Good but not accomodating to requests.
Chels Badger
Expensive Chinese food however it is extremely tasty. The sweet and sour pork was a stand out as where the spring rolls. Despite the price, this place makes up for the lack of Chinese in Fremantle.
Ethan
This place is off the charts amazing! All of the dishes are tasty and the staff are brilliant. The restaurant is really nice with great vibe. The sizzling Mongolian lamb is definitely a must get! The spring rolls are also really good. Definitely our fav place for Chinese. Keep it up please guys!
HotChocolat
Our favorite Vietnamese in Perth/Freo!! All their dishes are to die for. We have been here a number of times. Remember to book in advance, they are always busy. BYO wine or order from the drinks menu.

The Joyless kitchen - It's company policy!”<br/><br/>The only enjoyable part of the evening was the waiter who tried very hard to please. We even thought he had a good sense of humour but later realised it was actually because he misunderstood us. The main issue was over corkage. I was dining with my 2 children and we had decided to go to a different restaurant which charges $2 per person corkage and I know their wine list is limited so was happy to pay the corkage. It turned out the restaurant was closed despite their website saying otherwise so we chose The Joy Kitchen instead. I left my pre purchased wine in the car knowing they were licensed. Upon discovering there is only one SSB and one Chardonnay on the menu I asked if I could bring in my own wine to which the response was "yes, but that will be $8 corkage" for one person drinking. When I objected that if they want to charge that amount for corkage they need to offer a better per glass selection the waiter said he would ask his manager. I was then asked how many glasses I would be drinking and I replied about 2. The answer came back "no, its company policy it will cost you $8". Does that mean if I drank the whole bottle it would have been less? I advised the waiter I would drink my wine in my car and he said I will bring you a wine glass! Silly me thought he had a sense of humour but no he thought I had accepted to bring in my wine and pay the $8. Had I not been with my children I would have had a quick sip in the car but decided that was not good form for a parent and so brought in the wine and accepted the $8 charge. I drank one glass so not good economical sense but it was a tough day, the reason we went out to eat!<br/>The fish we ordered was not available but again the waiter tried to accommodate us and suggested another fish instead but cooked the same way. I agreed to that suggestion but the fish never came. Another misunderstanding with the waiter.<br/>When time to pay the bill I explained the fish never came but the very rude and aggressive manager tried to say we did not order it. I explained it was the waiter's lack of understanding but he could not get the point. When I showed him the minuscule amount drunk from my bottle I asked again if the $8 corkage could be waived but he said " no, it's company policy and I have to be fair to everyone." I advised we order takeaway for lunch every Friday and we would reconsider that in future and probably not come again to eat in he said " fine, good"!<br/>So in summary its good company policy to be very inflexible with company policy and loose customers even when the waiter cant understand most of what is said and one third of the order does not arrive.<br/>The food was ordinary and expensive for what it is. We'll definitely never go back.

Not just "suburban Chinese "<br/>Have taken the family there a few times now, usually in preference to driving to Northbridge and it's always been busy.<br/>In my opinion it's a fantastic option the staff are always friendly, fast service and most of all great food. It seems to have a possible Malay influence but only guessing.<br/>By some standards it would seem a small menu but the favs are there !!<br/>If u love Chinese then this should do it for you!!
Matthew Adams
If in Melbourne it wouldn't survive at the prices it charges for food wine and corkage <br/>The owner has he head up in the clouds food is good but over priced location is fabulous but it doesn't deserve the praise it gets.
AmouraBrenda Miller
Worst experience , expensive and treated horrible, and insulted on top, they should be working in a prison and not in costumer relationship, I would never recommend this place ever
Joanne Hogan
Sometimes a bit manic, but always great food. <br/>Try the roast pork with mushrooms, the garlic lamb and the duck pancakes...yum! <br/>Don't expect attentive service staff, they are way too busy! Great Chinese food you can expect.
Clare Barnett
Great Chinese always very busy, good service and good food maybe a little over priced but it is Fremantle clearly popular with everyone and child friendly too

I decided to get out one night during the school holidays away from constant cartoons and the beach, this hot night!<br/>So we decided to head for a nice dinner before a movie to Joy Kitchen :)<br/>The inside decor is really nice, not too much, but just right. The table service is efficient, fast and so polite. You're all doing a really fantastic job girls :) keep it up.<br/><br/>We ordered the greens and tofu for a vegetable side, my partner a udon/crispy noodle dish and I ordered a chicken noodle dish.<br/>Very heavy noodles, but the veg was spot on, accompanied by a 2013 Vasse Felix sauvignon blanc that we bought along.<br/><br/>The food really filled us quickly, I decided to ask to take the rest of our meals home. I reached the counter at which you pay, and this very, VERY, rude man (looks to be the manager) - with no eye contact or word, barked at the closest female employee, "you! She wants to take this home! You get it contained, go!" <br/>I was absoluuuutely disgusted, I was sincerely baffled and felt for the wait staff. Not cool sir!<br/>Because of this behaviour and disrespect to such wonderful employees and not to mention WOMEN, we will not return. Ever.
Annepandayanda
Came here for dinner and was quite disappointed with all the dishes we ordered - prawn toast, chilli lamb, honey ribs, kai lan, softshell crab. All dishes were lacking flavour with the best dish being the ribs which were "good" at best. The softshell crab was soggy and also lacking flavour. Will not return here.

Our first time here. Bought my folks here on their last night in Freo. What can I say. The old fella is not a fan of Chinese cuisine. He polished everything bar the rump and stump of it. 4 meals, 4 really happy faces. Not only were the meals brilliant, but the staff were just brilliant as well. If you're in the area, definitely worth the visit
Nessie
Delicious food - really fresh and full of flavour. We were in a group and had a variety of dishes - all amazing. The service was friendly and prompt. Great night will be back!

Food is decent, but the service is not so good. There were 6 of us, and the Sang Choy Bow has 4 pieces, so we asked if we could get 1.5 serves, enough for one each. They say sure, but at the end of the meal the boss charges us for 2 serves, but only provided 1.5 serves. We tell him we only received 1.5 serves, but he did not care. With that kind of service, I won't eat here again.

Food was delicious as always however front of house organisation was abysmal. We (4) arrived, and were seated by a young man who was taking our drinks orders when the owner came up and had a few stern words to him and he just walked off to the table next door and started taking their food order. He said nothing to us, I asked if I could place my drink order and the young man just waved at me. He didn't serve us again all night. A young lady eventually brought the only drink that managed to be ordered and took the rest of the drinks orders. The restaurant was busy but not full, 2 large empty tables near us. From being seated we waited 45mins and no one came to take our food order. I had to walk up to the counter twice to ask if we could order. About 30mins after placing the order, wait staff advised that there were delays in the kitchen and apologised. After another 20 mins we were starving and ready to walk out and food arrived. I have always experienced good food here but they were woefully understaffed for the amount of people they were trying to serve. Greedy and bad management. I won't go back in a hurry.
Terry Tibs
Very overpriced and stingy serving sizes. Ordered 7 dishes ($200) between 6 people and everyone left hungry. Forget taking the family out for Chinese.
Bree
The best Chinese food in Perth - full of taste without the greasiness. Loved all the dishes I've tried. I recommend booking ahead of time because it's often very busy, and service can be a little slow.
Cassie.woodcock
The very best Chinese restaurant in the Fremantle area. My family, friends and I have been coming to this restaurant for years and still have the best customer service and experience every time we go there. They're very accommodating for everyones needs and offer a great range of delicious gluten-free food options, which can be difficult to find at any given restaurant. For anyone who is yet to try it I highly recommend going there!
David.kuster93
Great experience. Must try for anyone in Fremantle area. What a great culinary experience. The exceptional customer service started when I phoned to book a table. They were very full and busy that night but went to great lengths to accomodate our request for a table for 6 and seated us promptly at the time booked for. Even though it was a very busy night the waiter was incredibly forthcoming and diligent. The food is also very reasonably priced and I must say it is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to. The food is exceptional and the staff and owner are very friendly. The atmosphere is great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. 10/10

Really enjoyed the food, was really yummy! Atmosphere was great. The prawn toast in the entree was amazing!!! I find some places the meat is too greasy but this was really nice. The staff were LOVELY and made us feel so welcome and confortable. We had a great time and will be going back to try more dishes for sure. :)
Sludge
Asian Lite. Lovely room, sharp service but this really is Asian food for non-Asians. Well portioned dishes but the flavours were so bland on each and every dish.
Mike Taylor
Service. Last Friday my family and I went for dinner<br/>The food as always is excellent but the service needs some attention<br/>I ordered four entrée dishes, three arrived and after waiting for the fourth three were consumed the fourth, which was only soup arrived after we had finished and had protested<br/>Four main courses were ordered and I explained to the waitperson we would like all four to arrive at the same time<br/>Three came the fourth did not. After again protesting it finally arrived<br/>We were visited by I can only assume was the Manager who explained they cook everything fresh. If this is the case the dish that takes the longest to make should be started first . The restaurant was full and I hardly think that if every meal produced was cooked from scratch patrons would be waiting hours for their food
Foodscritique
A mediocre restaurant. It took forever to get the menu, to have the order taken, and to finally get the foods. Amazingly all the foods have the same taste, not bad, but surely not tasty. To add to our disappointment, the owner doesn't seem to understand hospitality. It''s surely not recommended. Tons of better restaurants in Perth, go elsewhere.
Mariagiglia54
Maria. Went to Joy Kitchen for my 60th never been before, the food was absolutely wonderful recommend it to anyone.<br/>Will go again.
Jilltwinklestar
Joy kitchen?? More like SLOW kitchen. I'd like to comment on the food but we've been here an hour and twenty minutes and are yet to see it. Spending my time commenting here on my dissatisfaction. Not happy.

Appalling service. Family expected a nice dinner out, received a hour long wait for mains. Countless other tables received their order prior to us even if they placed their orders later. Were weven just being ignored? Pathetic.
Jorde93
Best Chinese Ever!. Ever since my boyfriend took me here for Valentines Day nearly two years ago, it has been our go-to Chinese place! The food is amazing, and you don't get that horrible, bloated feeling after eating there like you do at some other places. The service is also great, and they always make sure you have what you need etc. They have never stuffed our order up either, and we eat there a lot. We always order the lemon chicken and the chili beef with cashews, and they are absolutely delicious. The steamed chicken wontons are pretty great too. Joy Kitchen is definitely the nicest Chinese food I've ever eaten!
Nina94
Such an amazing meal I had .... Such an amazing meal<br/>I had such a great time with amazing service beautiful fresh food and a super atmosphere <br/>Definitely worth every penny!!!
Annie.midsomer
DO NOT DINE HERE. The restaurant was half empty yet we waited over an hour for food. Every other group that came in after us received their order before us (even though we were only a small group and our order was simple). The staff offered NO APOLOGY AT ALL and spoke to us in a condescending manner as if they couldn't be bothered with customers. Perhaps it would be useful if the staff knew what food they were actually delivering instead of just grunting as if they didn't have a clue. Absolutely PATHETIC place that is not deserving of the title 'restaurant'.
Loretta.dumas
Poor Service. What a pity we had to wait nearly an hour for the food to arrive!!!<br/><br/>The waiter and owner did not apologise for the delay.<br/><br/>Obviously customer service is not a priority.<br/><br/>May be better to order your food, then see a movie. Hopefully, by the time the movie has finished and you have sauntered back to the restaurant, the food may have arrived ... but maybe not!<br/><br/>Very disappointed!
Chanelle
45 min wait for meal - dont dine hungry!!. Appalling service, took 45 minutes to receive 4 meals (no drinks or appetisers). Staff were not apologetic at all! Disgusted!!
Neiti.boolaky
Crape service. What a crap place and such back service!! such a longgggg waiting time!! totally regret taking my mum here for dinner!!! and wait staff have no manners when they talk using words like huh when they didn't understand what u said to them!!! it used to be a great place at some.point. shame it is what it is today!!!
Melt It
It was a a Thursday night and it was packed!! We had a large group and very noisey too. We were looked after brilliantly and the food was great and fast. Would defiantly recommend it :-)
FreoFifi
No service. We were seated, given a menu and after 20 minutes, we got up and walked out cos noone came to take our order. It was noisy as hell in there.
Gpswabey
No service. After waiting 30 minutes to have our order taken we left. Poor organisation on a busy night

Food here is absolutely beautiful, and service is impeccable. My favourite Chinese restaurant in Western Australia.

Name says it all "Joy Kitchen" is a locals gem 9/10. I eat lots of asian food, Joy Kitchen offers tasty fresh simple food & well priced<br/>Wine List is Really cheap & well selected <br/>Great location just out of the main cafe strip<br/>Comfortable chairs & surrounds & even a bit of a view<br/>Been here numerous times always good<br/>Great family business & smart service <br/>The steamed food is so good i stopped going to northbridge
Cake Is My Weakness
The menu seems to have become more westernised since it opened but the food is still good. The service is a bit hit & miss and a bit pricey but otherwise this is a nice once or twice a year place.
Eatingspoons
Best chinese restaurant. We don't usually eat Chinese out but decided to give this a go based on urban spoon reviews. We are not disappointed. The food was fresh and light. It was like home cooked Chinese food, not the usual oily drenched in corn flour syrup dishes. I will be back to try some of the other dishes!
Babs9ela
No 'Joy' here. We have been to this Restaurant about four times. Instead of getting better it's getting worse.<br/>The guy on the front counter was RUDE very unwelcoming. We always spend a-lot. <br/>We have noticed the portions are getting smaller and smaller. The Garlic Prawns taste as if they have been washed in Milton. The decor is very nice wait staff do their best and are friendly. It's just the Guy on the desk really needs to slow down and remember drop the Attitude. <br/>Peace & Love
Jemma Cauchi
Good service. Great food. We enjoyed the pork belly, scheuzan chicken and steamed prawn dumplings. I generally don't like Australian Chinese food but this was clean and tasty. Wine list reasonable prices too
Lilady
Went here for dinner last night. Customer service was not that good as we had to wait for 30 minutes or more for a bowl of soup after asking 3 staff what happened to our entree. None of the staff got back to us until we physically got up and asked the fourth waitress. The food was average, better of going into northbridge for a descent chinese meal. The taste was average too for the price you pay, it's not worth it. The ambience was average as it was a bit loud.
Toncla
First time we've tried Chinese since moving to the area and so happy to have found Joys Kitchen. We had the lemon chicken, chilli squid, mixed vegetables and fried rice. All dishes were absolutely delicious and very clean in flavour and appearance. Excellent quality produce and MSG free too! We'll definitely be regulars now we've tried it! Yum!!!!!
Food_Hole
Nice food, good service.. We were here for Mother's day lunch and had one of the banquets. The food was yummy, I really enjoyed their garlic greens dish and the pepper quid, the fried rice we had with the banquet was delicious. But at 40 bucks per head, I didn't think it was good value, however the upside to that is we got to try several dishes. There were 9 of us, so who knows it might be value for money depending on the size of the group. They left one of our dishes out, but gave us dessert. The service was better than at most Asian restaurants.
CowTown ChowHound
Not quite a good value. We enjoyed our meal at Joy Kitchen but found that the serving sizes were a bit on the small side for the cost. <br/><br/>We ordered Stir-Fried Bean curd with Broccoli and Mushrooms, Beef Fried Ho Fun, Szechuan Chilli Beef with Cashew Nuts and Cantonese Fried Rice. The fried tofu was nice and the sauce rather tasty. The Ho Fun was not quite as smoky as it should have been and the beef was a little tough. The Szechuan Chili Beef was the best of the bunch with great flavour and nice heat to it. This would have been even better had they used actual Szechuan Peppercorns, but most restaurants don't. I was disappointed by the fried rice and found it had little flavour.<br/><br/>The staff was only present when ordering/serving the food and we even had to look for them when ready to pay the bill.<br/><br/>If the food was a little better and the servings larger I'd certainly recommend Joy Kitchen but I'd not go out of my way to dine here again.
Pennae
We ordered chicken dumplings and duck pancakes for entree and both were "just OK". The dumplings ($9) were stodgy and quite rubbery, the pancakes uninspiring with very little meat and a lot of sauce. For $22 I expected more. Our mains, however, were lovely. The fried rice was a generous portion and not oily. The spicy beef and cashews was nice and tender and, again, a good portion size - easily enough for 2. I won't return in a hurry but it's a good choice for Chinese food in the Freo area.
SLP
Always great food althought have been going there for many years and have really noticed the portion sizes are getting smaller shame because it's not awfully cheap.
Benji
Can not fault the food but the service was awful. I received the wrong order but very happily agreed to eat it anyway as I like most Chinese dishes, yet the staff member was adamant that is what I ordered and was very rude and abrupt. Very disappointed with the service, I hope this is not becoming a trend in WA?
Geraldine Thomson
A joy. Went here on new year's eve ( too busy to write till now!) Excellent. Service quick and efficient. Food delicious and atmosphere easy casual and friendly. Have been here before and remain impressed.
Nicholas Holland Orford
Overpriced and poor serving sizes. I'm not going to lie. I like the food here. The issue I have every time is the price and I swear the serving sizes are getting smaller.<br/>The service here is not good either, orders are regularly brought out after a ridiculous wait. I wont be going back unless I hear about some improvements.
JL
We went to Joys Kitchen last night. The service was terrible. Part of an entree was forgotten. It took at least an hour for the food to come out. We had to ask 3 times for rice - the rice came out when everyone had almost finished their mains. They should really look at hiring more kitchen staff considering how busy they get.
Jackvans86
Bad service. Would never go back for such a pricey Chinese restaurant and bad customer service. Asked for receipt for a take away and was told off for it and when I looked at the receipt and boss over charged.. Never even gave refund when walked away... If you don't know Chinese restaurant price charges, you are definitely being ripped off dinning here...
Claire281
Dinner. Booked here last minute due to a friends recommendation.<br/>Pretty busy for a Sunday evening.<br/>Very fast service to place the order of 3 mains BUT took 50 mins to receive the meal. Unfortunately we ate our meals pretty quick as we had a cinema date to get to. BUT all our meals were very generous sized, fantastic price and delicious. Definatley come back when time isn't an issue.<br/>8.8/10
Elizabeth
The freshest, most wonderful Chinese food ever. I love this restaurant.
Hannah Forbes
My partner & I love getting take away from here as a treat from time to time, however EVERY SINGLE TIME we are told it will take a certain amount of time and it is never ready until at least 10mins after that. We are left waiting around in the crowded restaurant & in the way. Tonight we were told it would an hour & once again we are left waiting an hour and ten minutes later. It is becoming a joke. Pick your game up! It's not acceptable!<br/><br/><br/>-----03 Dec, 2013-----<br/><br/>Shocking experience tonight - we ordered takeaway and asked for 2 entrees and 2 mains and 1 rice. When we first picked up the order and checked it the entire order was wrong. We went back in and got what we thought was our order and they had one entree and one main correct, the rest was wrong. We were halfway home before realising. Very irritating and annoying - especially as we were trying to celebrate our anniversary. You need to improve your service.
Finnthehuman33
My partner and I ordered tak.... Food was atrocious and over priced. Low standard for a Freo restaurant. Ended up throwing it in the bin and getting HJ's instead. Do not try the honey king prawns, worst I've ever had. Disappointed.
Barnzy
Great food - we'll be coming back for sure. We had the duck with plum sauce, honey king prawns, sizzling Mongolian lamb and Cantonese fried rice. Got a seat right away, drinks right away, waited a little for good but wasn't unreasonable. Service and atmosphere were lovely too.
Mrs Brady
Food was lovely (staff equally) nice flavours, fresh and extensive menu, had pork belly was gorgeous!
Steve Wallace
Reliable food & service. This is the place to go when you have visitors or a birthday to celebrate & want the food to be nice & service pleasant.<br/><br/>We have found booking before is best as they get very busy.
Jefflucas561
Good food. Went there last weekend. Didn't call for booking and they still found me a sit.<br/>The place is warm and inviting. Food was good but it took a while to arrive to the table.
Louisa Kennard
Waited 45 minutes for one serve of duck crepes as entree and then another 35 minutes after that for main course. Ended up starting our mains at 9:10pm. Food is always of good quality, slightly expensive for what you get but the duck and pork belly were delicious. It was disappointing that we didn't receive an apology for our long wait from any of the staff.
Gudeg
Love this place , food always good , my favourite dish : duck fried noodles and ginger beef onion ! If I really criticise this place :, the plate must be warm , just not feel good eat in cold plate in winter ! I will going back anyway ..
Brigitte
Long wait and bad service. Went to Joys Kitchen with 11 people last night and was extremely disappointed. We had to wait 2 hours for our meal and we had finished eating one last dish came out. When I approached the manager and expressed my disappointment she didn't answer me. I asked her if she was understaffed and she just said everyone came at 6:30 - 7pm. There was no apology she was plain rude and wouldn't look at me and answer my questions. Will never go back.
Eric Fremouw
Authentic. Loved it. Well listed menu and old favourites. Friendly and fast. Reminded me of Singapore. Happy here.
NicolaB
Went on a Saturday night after reading reviews on here. Wasn't disappointed, it was probably the best Chinese we've had in our 2 years in Perth. We will certainly be back!
Tasty Tongue
Best Chinese I've been too in a log time. Came here on a girls night out. Fast and efficient service, polite and the food came quickly. I would highly recommend and will be back!

Best Chinese I've ever had!! The meat wasn't chewy and the dishes were full of flavour. Dumplings to die for and quality beef and black bean. We'll be back :)

Awesome place!. Love this place so much!!! They cooked good food! we always have our office function here and my manager bring their overseas guest here too!<br/><br/>Love their squid very much... Definitely have to try. They cook it really perfectly, still moist and yet crunchy... Oh and of course consistency is there all the time. Even though you are taking away or dining in.

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! Not Child Friendly. This Restaurant should state no children allowed..... or children should be seen and not heard upon entering their restaurant. 15 of our family members went to Joy Kitchen last night for a family birthday celebration. (Tuesday night). We were seated up the top area, having almost the whole area to ourselves apart from a table of four who were approximately 4 metres away. It took approximately 30 minutes for a waiter to approach us to even take our drink order. He was rude, extremely unfriendly and only took half of our tables order. He then returned and got the order incorrect but rather than apologise and fix the mistake, he argues that in fact we had ordered that beer. After slow and rude service, nothing could prepare me for what was in store. Whilst waiting so long to be served, my 22 Month old son was seated on my lap (not running wild) he picked up a chop stick and accidentally hit it against a bowl. He thought the noise was amusing, as toddlers do, he repeated this for no more than 30 seconds. The noise was barely audible to other family members on the other side of our table. Along comes Mr Manager and asks me rudely to make my son stop the noise or we will be asked to LEAVE. I was in shock, my Dad was furious nonetheless. Noone had complained (the other table was busy chatting loudly and could not even hear my son) I appreciate if my son was doing this for a long period of time and disturbing people, but this is not the case at all. I respect others around me always.<br/>Cut a long story short..... RUDE service..... RUDE Manager..... Get a life mate!

Loved It. Our food was really great. Luckily we booked as the restaurant was extremely busy. I had the chilli king prawns with cashews and the dish was flavoursome. I will certainly be coming back again

Awesome duck omelette. Plenty of gluten free options. We will be back!

Freshest Chinese. Best to book if you want a table, very busy restaurant <br/>Food was full of flavour .<br/>We had a table of 12 and ordered a plate each to share at the table all our food came at once and within 15 minutes of ordering <br/>Will be dining there again for sure

Delish!. Our food was yum. Had the Schezuan Chilli bean curd & cashews with fried rice, a cider & great company, in a restaurant that was humming. What more could you want?

Perfect, Go Try it for your self. All rounder, its a fantastic restaurant. As a past reviewer, the seafood is local so is all their food. As many Chinese restaurants which use imported Prawns their, sizzling garlic king prawns is perfect. Go try it out and i'll tell you that you won't regret it!<br/><br/><br/>-----27 May, 2013-----<br/><br/>Just so Perfect. Joy Kitchen is just perfect. I love every detail all the way to the lovely flowers everywhere. The food is just brilliant and if anyone goes then go order their famous Fried Rice or chilli pepper squid. Its my favourite. I don't get how other people call Joy Kitchen a bad place how many people say "including I" is the best restaurant in this world. I love it and I wish i would go there every day. Love there Service, food and there was a very happy small staff with such a great attitude through the whole night. She is the best staff i have ever seen. I LOVE JOY KITCHEN<br/><br/><br/>-----22 Sep, 2012-----<br/><br/>THIS IS THE BBBBBBEEEESSSSTTT. Since it moved the service is really disappointing , the food however is great. For a good alternative try the Vivisan restaurant in Freo

Glass in rice. Eating rice and felt something hard in mouth took it out and it was a piece of glass called manager over showed him he took it away came back and said it was plastic off the corner of a takeaway dish No it wasnt it was glass wished we had kept it and taken photo . He did not seem that worried . Service was very average last night

Delicious food but the service is terrible. I like drinks offered up as soon as one is finished and food to come at the same time. They never prompted us for further services.

Great food, terrible service.. Fantastic food, never oily however service needs improvement<br/> Not all wait staff can take orders so when asking whether someone could take our order we kept getting told someone will take our order shortly. Sat in the restaurant an hour without drinks before someone took our order. And another 30 mins before food arrived. Our rice didnt arrive till asked where it was whih meant we ate our mains without rice. One other table left without ordering due to thewait <br/><br/>Joys was very busy, no different than usual but if they cant even take orders they should fill so many tables as many customers were very upset.

Just Ok. This was highly recommended, and there seems to be a scarcity of good Chinese food in Perth. The food overall was quite tasty altho the veg fried rice wasn't all that fresh. Honey prawns and black bean beef really good. I thought the portions were small for the price. The service was TERRIBLE. After we rec'd our food no one came back to ask how things were, if we needed anything else, coffee, tea, more wine etc. There were six of us there so was a fairly $$ bill but likely would have spent more on dessert etc if we had been asked. No one cleared away the dishes. Possibly will go back unless someone can recommend somewhere else! People in the service industry need to be paid less, and customers start tipping for service, then maybe we can actually get decent service.

Hubby and I went here for dinner quite early, around 6pm on a Thursday, so it was quiet. I ordered the pork belly, which was delicious, hubby had seafood noodle, which he says was <br/>bland. Service was good, I really liked it...but again the old man wasnt impressed overly.

Had to walk up to counter to ask to be served after waiting for half an hour. Then an hr for food to come<br/>Out.. Worst service. Pity the food is decent.

Typical Chinese food in a fancy setting. I have had Joy Kitchen recommended to me so i thought i would give it a try. Went with a party of 4 last night, very excited to try this place out. Alarm bells went off when we got there and i noticed that there were no Chinese, or any Asian people there, other than the staff. I now know why. The food is not bad at all, its just typical Chinese that you can get at your local Chinese restaurant/takeaway. The only difference here is that they have spent some money decorating the place, they have white tablecloths and fancy looking menus, so it appeals more to the average Australian. <br/>If you are are happy to pay double the price for average Chinese food, but eat it at nicely presented restarurant, then Joy Kitchen is for you.

It's OK...... Really liked the duck pancakes and liked the prawn dish but was not overly impressed by the other dishes. The chicken was a bit dry and the soft shell crab a bit greasy. It was crowded and the service was still good however the it was impossible to communicate across the table as it was incredibly loud. I also had to put up with a man at the table behind who was nearly sharing my chair as it was so cramped in there. His head kept coming into contact with mine! May go again at a quieter time but will not rush back.
