Review Bathers Beach House - Fremantle

Brilliant location! Good food with seasonal menu! But being back the fish tacos!! Many great options for F&B, deck chairs, restaurant, sand / beach tables... love it!! Friendly service from staff, yet a big win would be to have table service, alfresco and on the beach. Great view, yet getting up and down to get a soft drink or order food and take to your table is a little ugh.. undesirable especially if your their for an event, function, and or special occasion spending quality time. 8/10 🌟 đŸ’« Definitely go back again!

Massively improved the food which was pleasant. Kids meals come with drinks and icy pole for 13$ each, burgers are slider size so not for older or very hungry kids Shrimp noodles salad was yum and filling All up a 55$ dollar lunch

Lovely evening with my love and funny staff as well :) Crispy pork belly bite is a must try item and perfectly matched with the homemade sauce!!! Wanna try the lunch as well and enjoy the sun and beach vibe

Walking around bathers beach after breakfast. And it’s nice weather a bit cool with wind and some people swimming and looking around sculpture. And it’s nice to watch people enjoying the water and just watching the boats passing by.

We had our 50th birthday celebration for around 80 people upstairs in the Bathers function room overlooking the water and it was fantastic! Food was first class, service was very attentive and the venue was just perfect! A massive thank you to Georgie & Bec as well as the whole team at Bathers for making our night so memorable! Just wish we could do it again and again and again!

Restaurant right on the beach. Tables available in the sand. Tasty food & cocktails. Pleasant wait staff. Pictured is view from alfresco dining area.

Fantastic food and atmosphere. The service was good too, but they were very busy on a Saturday night. It's a busy place, right on the shore, perfect for watching the sunset. The Seafood Board was enough to feed 2-3 people. The octopus was a favourite, along with the unique dipping sauces. Everything was really fresh, you'd expect no less by the sea in Freo!

Great location, decent grub. Not a bad venue to visit for a cheeky beer

The $79 seafood platter is not $79 worth of seafood so pretty disappointed. We asked for a dessert menu and waited a while as the waitress forgot, it wasn’t until I made eye contact that she remembered that we asked for one. When we first got there I asked a different waitress for water and she must have forgotten so I had to ask someone else. LASTLY, When we got to the counter to pay our bill the male worker in the navy blue button up shirt with the tattoo on his neck was R U D E!! After spending $100 on lunch, he showed no appreciation and didn’t even ask how our meal was. Drove 45 mins to freo for a nice seafood lunch and was ripped off with food and inattentive staff.

I am a little bit frustrated with the service and the plate. About the service, I asked what is panna cotta of goat cheese, and the italian waiter explained that it's like a tart. The plate came, and the 'tart' is just a cream. About the plate: the SALAD that it's written on the menu that comes with the panna cotta...is the smallest salad I saw so far in Australia. Like a decoration. I know it's a starter. But 18 dollars for it? About the service again...the italian waiter asked if I enjoyed my meal...I explained that I was frustrated about what I ordered. And what did he say? "Well...I am so sorry....and left". I can tell that some professionals ask "how was everything" not because they want to know or can do anything about it. But because it's it's just a sentence that they are trained to say but means like "see you later" or something like this. I could say that this is one of the worse experiences so far I had with hospitality in 2 years travelling around Australia. Because Australia is an example in Hospitality. I am glad that other places act on a different way. It's not because you are beachfront that you should treat customers like they are begging for food. Anyway...I will continue my journey...and my lunch somewhere else thanks.

We visited today on this glorious autumn day, we had wonderful service by the concierge and waiter who was very prompt and checking everything was ok. The waiter recommended the swordfish steak and it was totally fresh and delicious! The waiter was very patient as my kids made up their minds. Lovely view of the beach and delicious food too. Thank you.

So I'm sitting here at the moment, have been for 30 mins and not one of the wait staff have approached me. Finally wave one down ask for a menu and then watch as they take orders from at least 5 couples who were seated and given menus AFTER me. They all had glasses and cold water immediately placed on their tables ....then got their drinks order... I wait... and wait... a bit longer ... and... walking out NOW!! Do you have a policy that encourages couples to be served b4 single persons? I like to eat too and my money is as good as the next person's!!! ïżœ

The absolute best service along with the most amazing seafood platter for 2. Great atmosphere and the sunset just set it off.

ordered food - received entree - 45 minutes later approached a waiter for a ETA on our mains - ended up leaving without food and still paying full price for our drinks and entree. will definitely not be back. ashame for such a nice venue.

There were three of us. We turned up on a Wednesday late afternoon. Wanting to order a dinner and watch the sunset. Nearly all the tables inside were empty but told that if we didn't have a reservation we were to find a table outside. Okay, fair enough. But noticed that many of those tables inside stayed empty the entire time there. Eventually we managed to get a table. Ordered our drinks and meals. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful. We were all happy with the meal ordered. Didn't have to wait too long. Burger was tasty, hot chips average portion but very nice. I ordered the barramundi. Cooked to perfection. Tasty. Sitting in a small bed of vegetables. Could've been slightly larger for the price tag. Overall experience was great. View spectacular! The big let down & disappointment is that there was no wifi for the diners or customers. I'm on holiday and do not have an Australian SIM card and rely on wifi wherever I go. I'm a world traveler and because Fremantle itself is a well known tourist destination, I would expect wifi on offer for paying customers. Especially that the overall high prices for the drinks & food.

Sunday lunch - beautiful view with an absolute gorgeous sea breeze - staff were busy, as well as extremely helpful and attentive - food was excellent and everyone had more than enough on their plate. Can't wait to return. Thanks for a memorable family lunch.

Excellent service and good food. We had a table near a very noisy group and our waitress couldn't do enough for us even offered to move us which I thought was great. We had the lamb shank and chowder which was brilliant followed by a great espresso martini. Love this place ïżœ

Hadn't been for over a year and couldn't remember if I liked it but everything was excellent! So happy :-) oysters, salt and pepper squid, chips, baramundi and seafood chowder type dish - all outstanding and super nice staff too who were lovely with the kiddies :-)

Thank you to all the Staff for what was a wonderful birthday celebration. All 50 plus people where well catered for and the service first class. Anyone looking for a venue for a special get to together this is the spot.

Came in for a drink with someone visiting from out of town about a week ago. Not one member of staff we interacted with was in the least bit friendly. Either abrupt, disinterested, or down right rude. Came in for dinner with friends last night and had a similar experience. Very unfriendly, arrogant, and rude waiter who lacked any intuition on how to serve a table. Another member of staff (possibly a manager or supervisor) brought over our second bottle of wine seemed completely devoid of personality and seemed to just completely ignore us when we were attempting to interact with him. We would have stayed longer and ordered more drinks and desserts but we couldn't get out of there quick enough after our less than positive experience. I guess the first time wasn't an unlucky one off. I won't be back, and will be sure to tell anyone considering going not to bother. Shame because the food is wonderful!

Enjoyed our dinner here the last time we went here. The ambience and beach view is very relaxing. I loved my cocktail! I ordered steak and it was good just the way I like it.

Don't go to that restaurant if you have brown or black skin.Had a friend of mine visiting from Toronto, Canada a few months ago. So because of the nice view we went there. They told us we cannot go to the top floor terrace because there are no tables available/not true there were less than 10 people there/.After that on the ground floor  we ordered our food. They asked us for a credit card to keep with them until we finish our dinner so they can be sure that we will pay before we lieve. None of the other consumers were asked to give them their credit cards. Manager and the lady that was serving outside  area were involved in that racist nonsense.Hope they go out of business soon so someone else who is more open to the modern world and tourists take over this restaurant.
Cornel Scheibling
Great location and the food was very edible However the service was amongst the worst I have ever witnessed - the bar tender kept calling our “who’s next’ when that is is his job to know! Also there were also several staff standing and talking when many people were at the bar waiting for service

Average - Not good Value - Unhygienic Restrooms<br/>Visited last night for sunset meal. Sad to say very disappointed. We were greeted well and shown our table. Handed our menus and ordered drinks. Part of the menu offered was a special for Oz Day but upon wanting to order was told this was not available as they had run out of prawns. I decided on Bara and my partner Scotch Fillet MEDIUM. When the meal arrived, mine was fine but my partners steak was RARE (very Rare). He did not want to complain so ate the steak which did have quite a lot of gristle through it. Not very good was my partners comment.<br/><br/>My partner then had the cheese board which only consisted of one cheese and small amount of fruit and fruit bread. Rather average. I ordered a Carmamel Panacotta but this was tasteless and was basically ice cream with some cream caramel at the bottom and was rather warm. <br/><br/>The worst part was when I used the ladies restrooms it was littered with paper towel and blocked toilets and was actually very unhygienic. My partner said the men’s was just as bad. I came out and told one of the staff who said just use the unisex restroom. <br/><br/>Paying $150 for two for an average meal and then presented with this unhygienic area leads me to confirm I will not be returning and will warn others off.<br/><br/>What a shame as the potential to be better than this is possible.
Kevin Davies
Unfortunately a nice venue, but the worse steak ever in Perth over 30 years
TheKrackedPot
Very disappointing. Seafood platter tasteless. Fried fish, salt & pepper squid and chips only decent elements. No lemons served. Service often slow and several times requests forgotten. Go there for the view but if you are looking for a truly gastronomic experience maybe give the tourist restaurants a miss and go somewhere people go out of their way to eat in.
Foodie In Paradise
Came here for lunch on the weekend and the restaurant was completely full. We were told to try upstairs which they serve limited bar food. Food taste average and a bit pricey. Service was okay. Love the view of this restaurant , Wong mind coming back again for a drink.
SweetPoison
Wow!! This place is amaze!! I’m pretty sure the menu has changed as I used to refuse to come here and there was nothing for my fussy self to eat. This time there were too many options. The sunset is killer and the gin boards were amaze!! Soo good!!
Paul
Ambiance good , see view excellent, but overpriced on alcohol and food ! Service needs some attention as well as cleanliness of glasses and cutlery!
Tonto
What can I say about this place.<br/><br/>SERVICE: Slow, I had to wave down staff who were too busy chatting to each other and very unprofessional. I was called "mate" and asked "are you right"<br/><br/>FOOD: It tasted nice, however the serving sizes are small, large plates, small food. My wife had to send her steak back as it was served luke warm.<br/><br/>PRICE: You pay for the view. It is not cheap, for what you get, it's bad value.<br/><br/>AMBIANCE: A very nice place with a fantastic view.<br/><br/>RETURN: No, there are heaps better places with real value for money.
Jimmy.luff
The setting was nice however the service was terrible. The staff simply would not clear the table even though it wasn’t that busy. One of the bar staff splashed me with beer while trying to be smart. Food was ok but overpriced. Would not recommend.

This was a really nice experience. I reserved two loungers on the beach. Such a nice change to sitting in a restaurant. I’m glad I’d read other reviews and brought some towels, because the loungers are REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE! I would have struggled if I hadn’t had a towel to sit on! <br/>The food was really nice. I got the grazing board and everything was delicious. I especially loved the corn, cheese and chili croquettes.. amazing! Looking forward to returning!
Roni
Not only a great location but the food is good too which is rare for Fremantle these days. The squid is the bomb. Cicerello’s and Kaila’s can’t compete. Chips mega crispy, view amazing and service is always polite. Their mixed board is great too and the pĂątĂ© is delicious.

Beautiful view watching the sun set whilst enjoying dinner, great place dorms drink, food was a little average, but very good service on a very busy night.

Great food, well priced, amazing location. Very family friendly and easy to get too. Servicing size for food was fantastic. Would highly recommend bathers beach house.

We booked two sun loungers to have lunch on a Saturday and then we planned to explore a few wine bars in the area to make the most of our visit to Fremantle. We only had a couple of drinks and two share plates on the loungers as they didn't have any padding so were quite uncomfortable if you wanted to stay for any length of time. Other patrons BYO their own cushions etc which is what we would do if staying just there for the day. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly and had no issue when we asked to change to another spot as our original prime spot at the front was too windy. The dishes we ordered were the haloumi chips and squid. The chips looked like turds (sorry!) but thankfully they tasted nothing like poo and were really good. The squid was ok but a tad oily. I would love to go back one day and spend the whole afternoon there on the beautiful beach with my BYO towels and cushions. Get comfy and pretend I am in Barbados or Europe being waited on whilst enjoying the gorgeous ocean views. It's a shame this is the only restaurant in Perth, with all our gorgeous beaches, which offers this service as we don't live close to Freo but good on them for existing!
Colleen Czerkasow
Had lunch here yesterday and was very disappointed.  I booked a beach lounge, which was lovely.  But, it was a very long wait for our drinks order, and then another long wait for our food.  The salt & pepper squid was awful, so much batter, and very little actual squid.  The pork belly with papaya salad was a square slab of lukewarm pork fat that seemed to have been stewed and was devoid of any crispness or flavour.  The papaya salad looked like a KFC coleslaw but with a bit more colour, and was soggy and overdressed.

We were wandering through the sights of Freo early afternoon when we saw an empty table appear at this restaurant seeing the amount of people here and the location we decided to give it a go ordering a sharing plate for two and some sweet potato fries as there were four of us. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient which was surprising considering the number of people they were looking after. Food came quickly too and it was an excellent variety and quality. I believe that two people would struggle with the size of the serving as it was large. Will return soon!

We've been here a lot in the laxt few months. The combined experience of beachside eating, great service, very good food and drinks, very nice staff, lots of atmosphere is pretty unique. Get in early in busy times of the week, tables can be hard to find.
Heidi
We were lucky to get a table at Bathers Beach House in Fremantle, it was very busy for lunch! I had the sourdough with hummus, basil pesto, oil & balsamic and the pork belly with green papaya salad. Both were really nice and really well presented. I particularly liked the papaya salad, the nam jim dressing was spot on. It was such a nice spot for lunch though and would be great for Summer drinks outside in the sun. We also had a sticky beak at the function room which was lovey, amazing view and on point interior. <br/>
Cassandra
The restaurant was heaving with couples, families, friends and tourists. Service was friendly and helpful. Wine was perfect and good was great. On a day where stuff is sure to go wrong we were very pleasantly surprised
Popy Bernardo
Great venue by the beach to watch the sun set and the service was excellent, very attentive, friendly and she knew the menu well. Food and drinks were above average we would definitely come back.

The venue has great atmosphere, the sunset is absolutely sublime. Food and service was pretty good. It's family friendly, with a bit of a club scene upstairs.<br/><br/>Perfect venue for sunset dinner with a date :)
Fiona
Beautiful location and ambiance however the lady at the front desk was awful and ruined what would have otherwise been a pleasant experience. Came with my mum and grandma at 10:30am to get a coffee and there were stacks of empty tables (only one occupied). Was told to take a seat outside where it was blowing a gale and when we asked if we could sit indoors she pursed her lips, checked the reservation listing for a few mins and then concluded we could but only for 30mins. Don't know what the hurry was because it was still empty when we left!! She needs to learn some basic customer service skills or move on.
Brunch Hunter
Beautiful view to the ocean, perfect for a dinner date / besties nite out, best seafood platter, love they way they cook the mussels (white sauce), refreshing coconut mocktail if you need to be alcohol free for the nite
Chels Badger
The location plays a huge part in the restaurant. The share platters are nice but not a place to go to if you're on a budget. Sunset is the best time to go.
J.shwa
Went when it wasn't busy. Took 15mins after being seated to get water and menus, 30 mins for food to come out: cold chips and totally charred burger. Nobody came to check on us and the 18 yr old at the counter couldn't seem to care less when I complained about the food. <br/>Places with ideal locations usually have leeway with mediocre food but cold burnt rubbish served up along with poor service deserve to go out of business.
Ieat2much
Had the soft tacos and the seafood platter...was delicious but pricey!Had to order bread on the side as it doesn't come with bread...Good service and nice atmosphere...

Service was great. Food was tasty- nothing ground breaking , however after eating here at least 8 times in the past , I have to say <br/>The portions are tiny ! Compared to what they were<br/>The waitress even made a point of mentioning how small the ' share/ entrees were <br/>There was no way you could share either the parfait or the pork belly , and for the price , the portion was ridiculously small <br/>The wine list was good , had a lovely organic SB <br/>Kids were happy playing around outside

One of the best places I have ever eaten. Friendly, on the ball staff, beautiful meal & great view. Definitely recommend it and would go back!!

Had the beef dish when I came here a few years ago (forgot what it's called) best dish I've ever had. Love love love the food here! Great atmosphere
Bunny's Chow
I've come here a few times now, mostly as a part of a large group, and most recently with my wife. The food is decent (I've tried the squid, duck liver parfait, chargrilled sourdough with hummus, pork belly, salmon, steak, burger, tacos and the mussel and salmon pasta - all of a fair standard and enjoyable). The setting is extremely good too, especially if you can get a seat near the window. The service however, is pathetic. The first 2 times we came here as a part of a group, we struggled to order a drink or our mains.  It took a good 5 minutes to get the attention of a waiter. When we came here most recently (on Good Friday), we were first told we HAD to order an entre as well as a main if we were drinking (which we were planning to do anyhow, though did notice the table next to us who were just there having a few drinks)...next after ordering our entrees...the waitress came to us 3 times in the space of 10 minutes overtly & quite rudely, pushing us to order our mains...it honestly felt like the staff either wanted us to order and get out of there or were having a competition to see who could sell the most food...either way, it was rude, poor service and killed our experience. It then got worse...30 minutes later our mains came out before our entrees...granted they politely sorted this out, but only to overcharge us on our bills. So to sum this up, the setting is very nice, the food is decent, but the service needs to improve significantly!
Kelly
Excellent service and atmosphere. The loungers are a great option, feels like your on holiday. <br/>Great food, we had the share meats and breads platter, best platter we've ever had
Pennae
Chilled vibes and great views. As they proudly state, this is the only place you can drink on the beach! Good range of drinks and bar food but the restaurant menu is on the pricey side. Chips and beer by the beach on a Sunday afternoon watching the sun set...not a bad way to end the week.
Pandamonium
Has promise, but the service is sooooo slow. Can't beat the view of the ocean though, and the little food I had (sardines, yum so fresh) was great. Would come here on a baking hot day with lots of company just to dip in and out of the ocean in between gin and tonics.
Mary T-soon
What a view! Perfect location and sweet fit out. <br/>Loads of GF options (might make their own bread? Yum) and some top notch cocktails. <br/>Would recommend the beetroot with goats cheese although the quinoa didn't add anything to this dish. <br/>Service - 1.5 (not all the staff, unfortunately just the one serving us)<br/>We watched her potter around doing nothing as another young man took his tables orders and cleared dishes. <br/>The table next to us left, we think because service took too long. <br/>When she finally took our order she was friendly enough but away with the fairies, made a mistake on the drinks but nothing massive. Needs training or moving on. Frustrating for other staff to work with a floater.
Sara Darley
Thought it might be a good place to have a drink in the evening and watch the sunset. The place lacks character and atmosphere. It had potential as it's in a great spot on the beach .its not got a Fremantle vibe at all
KutsikFood
Food is always fresh and top quality. Service varies. They did forget to bring my drink out so don't be afraid to remind them of your order is taking a while :) great ocean views - bit noisy sitting inside and upstairs balcony isn't always open which is a shame! Looking forward to checking out the rooftop 👍
Sandhya1814
Been to this beach house twice and both the times i had ordered the seafood platter. Well the platter is quite huge to share between 3 girls. Another thing to keep in mind the food takes quite sometime to come like 20mins. I love the ambiences as its right on the beach, makes it a perfect spot for a sunday lunch.
Loni J
First of all, the service here is definitely sub par. We ordered entree platters as well as mains, and to my disbelief the mains arrived before the entree. This is basic restaurant operation 101. Won't be back anytime soon. You can do better in freo
Hard_to_satisfy
Probably one of the best locations in Fremantle to be placed for obtaining fresh seafood - problem is, they charge like it's imported from perhaps Bahrain or the Americas! Ambience was good but I noticed many others only buying an entree, not a mains. I guess if you think $4 for a local Fremantle sardine is value for money, you go right ahead and keep eating it because if you're willing to pay for it, they're willing to keep selling it to you! Good thing was that the price of the beers were almost competitive!

We booked a table for 6pm on a Friday night and no mention was made that we must order food. <br/> On arrival we were ushered to our seat and given menus. Within minutes the waitress was back asking about our drinks and food order. <br/>We advised we would need a few minutes to view drinks menu, on her return to take drinks order she again asked about food, and then a third time,  at this point we said we weren't sure we would want food. <br/>There was an obvious consultation with the maßtre d'   who visited our table and advised if we did not eat she may have to move us outside - all this happened during which our first drinks order had not been fully  supplied, she  was abrupt and sour faced.  <br/><br/>We stayed for 2 drinks as it was a special occasion and then moved on to a venue more appreciative of our patronage.
Cookiecrumble
Great place to hangout and watch the sun set. Really enjoyed their pasta, fresh with lots of chilli chorizo and prawn. The staff was attentive and happy to take drink orders and check up on our table. Prices are reasonable for a modern Australian meal, you would come to expect to pay a little dearer for seafood dishes. Overall a nice experience, and really enjoyed staring into the open kitchen to see the kitchen staff making all the meals. Great casual dining atmosphere
Tiva's Food Map
Did the whole sit on the sun lounges thingy. Ummmm firstly food/prices are terrible. The service is the big let down, which is often heard now with bathers. It doesnt help that perth is a windstorm and there's sand everywhere and its freezing cold. Avoid this place. Service is pathetic.
Brkfastlover
I was recently invited here for a Christmas dinner party. It was a perfect evening weather wise which made the venue even more of a great location. We had a 3 course set menu with a choice of options. I chose the pork belly for starters, eye fillet steak for main course and the plum pudding to finish off on. All 3 were cooked and presented well. The pork belly probaly had a little more wow factor than the steak, but in saying that the steak was very enjoyable. The service was great and as far as the price, I was fortunate enough to have everything paid for, so no complaints there! I must say though that the place lacks atmosphere because of its size and design. Overall its a great venue to go and watch the sunset with good company and a red wine or two...đŸ·

I booked 6 lounge chairs on the sand for today from 1pm. We had excellent service! A tried a Pear Martini & it was delicious. I also had a Sangria mock tail which was yummy & colourful. We ordered the sourdough with dips, squid & fish and chips to share (between 2). The food was good & came out extremely fast. We all set up tabs based on where our chairs were & it did get a little confusing for the staff as we were all chair hopping in order to mingle. But the staff didn't let us know if they were annoyed :)<br/>I will definitely return!!!
Food_Glorious_Food
Came here for lunch with another couple and the place was close to full. We were promptly seated and ordered the seafood board to share followed by the beef burgers. The seafood board was very underwhelming for the $80 price tag (tiny portions of everything except for the mussels), but the worst thing was our fish was very obviously bad or off and completely inedible by any of us at the table! We called our waitress over to show her and she didn't seem to quite know what to do. We asked her to inform the chef and she came back offering to replace the fish. We politely declined, half heartedly ate our burgers and left. Shame about the food because the location of this place is awesome. I won't be back.
CinDee
Poor service. Ordered a bottle of wine. Half an hour later was told wine was not in stock. Ordered another. Another long wait. Wine arrived half an hour after bill was paid. Can't understand why it takes so long to bring out a bottle and 2 wine glasses. Not coming here again.
Lesley
Perfect location on the beach with lovely outdoor area. As everyone has already mentioned, the place is busy so if you are after a quiet dinner this is not the place to be. Meals are served inside with waiter service or outside and order at the bar, the menu and prices are exactly the same and they are expensive. The food is lovely but at the high end of the $30 mark it is well overpriced particularly if you are eating al fresco.<br/>Not sure if there will be the same vibe in the winter but it is a perfect summer hang out.
Gateau
We arrived for dinner without a reservation. but they managed to squeeze us in.  I did not have high hopes, it is not the type of restaurant I usually like. Wow, we were really surprised! The food was brilliant. I had the Barramundi, which was probably the nicest piece of fish I've had for a long time. Interesting balanced flavours and beautifully moist fish. My husband had a seafood pasta special that was chock full of succulent prawns and fish, For the price, we thought it was very reasonable .
Jane Crier
Those seats outside are so uncomfortable!!! Food menu is very limited. Do not like the take you credit card behind the bar at all and run a tab. Had i e drink and decided to go little creatures. Very glad we did!!!
Maggie Crowe
What a big disappointment Great vantage point on the beach. Sat in the outside area on the beach on a perfect day. So much anticipation with great let down. The wait staff need to be trained, no information about how you get service outside. No suggestions of menu selection, very limited menu offered on the beach side. Water was warm. Food delivered with out serviettes or utensils, had to ask for extra lemon as only one small quarter given for seafood plate  & when it finally came the food was cold- very poor quality food for the price. The glass of champagne was only 3/4 full. We were left unattended for a long time even though we requested service. For a 10 star location the whole experience was spoilt by a very poorly run restaurant...sorry staff but it was a big let down.
Debbie Jackson
The person on the front desk made us turn away for a second time. Very bad for business...... location alone won't keep them busy. Look at Joe's fish shack, dead.... <br/>
Lulu's Opinion
Not really sure what the hype is about. The food was okay, but very expensive for what you get and the acoustics in the restaurant make it extremely difficult to hear people talking at your own table. <br/><br/>The annoying thing of our experience was our waiter not telling us they were closing the kitchen despite us saying we were there for dinner. So for the $45 I spent that night I had a shared amount of entree and dessert with a drink. We all left hungry. :(
LittleGirlBigFood
I thought bathers was a cute enough spot. It's not entirely me but it was very pretty and you just can not beat that sunset. The drinks are well priced and the food was very good 😊

Some friends and I recently booked a function here for a small Hens Party and we were pleasantly surprised. The bride has raved about the afternoon to anyone who will listen and has ensured me she will be back with friends come summer. We ordered a few rounds of cocktails and some platters. The platters were plentiful and delicious. I became very fond of the mushroom arrancini's. The cocktails were reasonably priced and delicious. There was a generous selection as well as some $10 delights. <br/><br/>It poured with rain all afternoon, however, this place would be amazing in the summer sitting right on the beach front with a balcony available upstairs.<br/><br/>We will be back to try the restaurant downstairs and a full menu.

Disappointed I have been here 4 times and each time there is a problem with a meal. It is very hit and miss depending on who is cooking that day. Such a shame.

Pictured: salt and pepper squid with harissa aioli (entree) and crispy skin barramundi, linguini, tomato, chilli, basil and capers, balsamic reduction (main). On Saturday I was invited to celebrate one of my beautiful friend’s 30th birthday. She had it at Bathers Beach House which is in Fremantle and has a stunning view that overlooks the ocean. The atmosphere here is very relaxing and it was a wonderful night. As it was a function, my friend had chosen a 2 course meal option for everyone which was $48 per person. For entrĂ©e you could choose between croquettes, bread and dips or salt and pepper squid. For mains you could choose between barramundi with linguine, chicken or gnocchi. My partner and I both opted for the squid entrĂ©e and the fish main. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how nice the food was here and the serving size was very generous. The squid entrĂ©e was massive and could have easily been shared between two people. The squid was soft and well-cooked and had a lovely seasoning. Lovely start to the night. Then came the mains. Because the entrĂ©e was bigger than I expected I struggled to finish my main. However it was so delicious. The barramundi was cooked to perfection with a lovely crispy skin and the pasta was al dente. Simple food but cooked well. I would definitely return!

The worst service I have ever experienced, and on multiple occasions. Have you ever been to a restaurant and not been served? This is a feature exclusive to Bathers. I have been here on two occasions to experience this. A quiet lunch hour and a busy dinner. Both with large tables for birthday meals. The beautiful location and average food at above average prices isn't worth the 40 minute wait just to order it.

The food is good here and what amazing location right next to bathers beach. Just a warning on the share entrees are to be shared only. Have one or two pieces for instance the tempura pork belly special was interesting but it's very salty and the batter will bloat you if you eat more than two pieces. The same with Squid the batter is tasty initially but overkill if you have it as a personal entree. Just order lots of entrees and share. The huton pork and cheese arancini balls are delightful. I also recommend the sweet potato chips. The share board for mains are good.

Came here late on a Sunday afternoon with the kids. Found the service and food to be great, prompt delivery of kids meals. The only negative would be the number of meals on the menu. However the Barra with Lingiune I ordered was spot on and full of favour. I will return again in the future for another Sunday lunch.<br/>Good selection of craft beers on tap.<br/><br/>

Lunch with a large group of friends on a Sunday afternoon. The views are absolutely beautiful - and it was a lovely day for it - but the service and menu options were, for me, a little below par. There were close to no vegan options, let alone vegetarian; a few of my lacto ovo friends ended up having to order the gnocchi as the sole veg main option.<br/>Reviews on that were mixed: the mushrooms were nicely sautéed, but the sauce was a little heavy for them, and the addition of feta jarred with the cream sauce. I ended up having to order the stock option of the garden salad, but added a side of sweet potato fries to add bulk. The salad was decent enough: fresh, and the avocado was lovely, but the vinaigrette was forgettable and there could have been a little more variety. The sweet potato fries were tepid when they came out and a little over-salted but otherwise OK. The person serving our table was kind enough to check with the kitchen that the items were vegan-friendly, which I definitely appreciated. Reception from the other staff was generally brusque though; not the friendliest establishment around. Would probably go again just for drinks and the view.

It is very hard to beat this location. Unfortunately, in Perth, great views generally mean not so great food. That is the case at Bathers Beach. The food is standard and unmemorable.  The food was OK, the service was OK, the bill was OK for Perth. So saying, it's always busy.  Don't come here if you're a foodie.

We had the seafood board for two. The highlight for us was definitely the mussels. It was in a delicious light and creamy sauce - very moorish. The big let down on the dish was the whole grilled snapper. It was over cooked and dry, with not much flavour. The restaurant setting is beautiful and is a great place to bring visitors from out of town.

A sunny lunch by the sea, the Bather’s Beach House it could only be! A stunning location that brings the waves and the sand so close while you’re dinning in an ultra-modern and crisp establishment. I was greeted at the door and directed to the other side to be seated by the window, unfortunately not be the front next to the amazing view which I had already all been booked up. Nevertheless I had a good view from my table. It was super busy. The waiter gave me the menu and came back with tape water. I asked for recommendation and he suggested the filling poached seafood in saffron cream, young leeks, herb and aged parmesan crumble along with the New Zealand organic Sauvignon Blanc. The wine arrived quickly and was a nice crisp SB. Food also did not take too long; they have a large kitchen which is open, and they are obviously well organised to handle the large crowds. The dish was beautiful and the liquid gold was enticing visually and by its wonderful aroma. A spoon was provided and so I dived in. I discovered lots of wonderful seafood delights including salmon and mussels, and might I add, all were cooked perfectly. I loved this dish, and the only thing missing was perhaps, one piece of crusty bread to finish off the sauce that remained in the dish after I had finished; that would have been perfection! A wonderful venue with stunning views, excellent food, and good friendly service. I will be back!

Beautiful venue :) the drinks menu is huge, great selection of wines and beer. Love that they have pirate life pale ale on tap. The food here is great, I've always enjoyed everything I've ordered. Staff are very friendly and give great service. I'll definitely be back.

been here a few times, love the location - which brings me back. first visit was not great.. after being refused at the bar for having an interstate licence? i'm sorry but being over the legal age of 18, interstate licence should not mean a thing in Australia. after receiving the food ordered and upon paying the owner then began to say "sorry about the alcoholic situation, i was unaware the laws had changed since 2006" ... for a brand new restaurant, not a very up to date owner

We had such a great time. The place is beautiful, you have stunning view of the ocean from where you sit. We had the seafood board (for 2), the portion was big, everything on that board was beautiful. The service was excellent, everyone was so friendly

What is not to love about this place? Nothing, I love it all! The location is perfect, right on the waters edge. The staff are friendly and cool. The cocktails are awesome and the food is always delicious!!!

Really tasty food and good service. We had the chili mussels and salt and pepper squid with a side of chips. All good size portions and they hit the spot perfectly.

My fiancé & I were looking forward to having a lovely lunch together on a Sunday. The service was terrible-the waitress even rolled her eyes at me when I mentioned I can't have gluten or dairy. Then the food came out; we got vegetable soup, squid and gnocchi, which were all covered in huge amounts of oil. And to make it worse it was expensive and we didn't even eat half of any of our meals. Definitely go somewhere else if you can!

Mixed review for this place. <br/><br/>Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was fresh, well presented and one of the dishes (fish & chips) was lovely. The second dish we ordered, the burger, had a really odd chemical taste and as a result my partner went hungry reluctant to give anything else a go and feeling quite sickened by the experience. <br/>Staff were more than happy to refund however with minimal fuss.<br/><br/>The location of this place is outstanding and it would be nice to see the menu reach a similar standard.

Awesome weather, continuous clear blue water, white sand is the back drop for bathers beach house.<br/>Stopped by for coffee.<br/>Service was ok<br/>Coffee was ok.<br/>Dessert was ok <br/>

came in for my daughters birthday/family gathering dinner. service was incredibly bad. Our server said it was because some staff had recently been let go, but on a friday night you expect a lot more hustle.  Food was ok,  not amazing. setting was beautiful
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Finally made it here - such a cool, beachside spot! Staff were super friendly, our waitress was attentive, on point and went the extra mile. Menu is large with lots of share plates and mains. Went with the Barramundi - it was bloody beautiful !! So well cooked, served with rich chorizo, fresh potato, olives and greens. The flavour was insane! Also had a pear cocktail which was refreshing and not too sickly sweet! Shared the Salted Caramel & Chocolate Sundae and the Brûlée for dessert and I couldn't choose a favourite, they were divine. Can't wait to come back!

Top spot: Really lovely spot right on the beach. Seating inside or outside.  Top Service: The staff were fantastic.  <br/>Top Food:  The dishes we ordered were fantastic. <br/>Thanks for a lovely relaxing lunch.  See you soon.
Pancake
Fantastic location and relaxed atmosphere when we went there for a family breakfast. Drinks were offered quickly and the food arrived promptly and correctly. The pancakes were delicious and the full breakfast was generous. They were a bit inflexible with the food though. Someone wanted a mushroom with their egg but was told they couldn't have it as a side. This information was delivered very sternly. The person sitting next to them got two in their big breakfast just because it said so on the menu. Love the dude with the mo!

Decided to grab a seafood lunch and everyone else had the same idea on this sunny day! Ok so the positives - Overall the food was good. I had the fish & chips. The fish was well cooked and chips were crispy. My partner had the calamari which was also tasty. Negatives - the fish was whiting.. Which isn't the best quality and type of fish, and considering the price of the dish ($28) it wasn't worth it. I could have bought better quality fish next door at cicerellos. The quantity of tartare sauce was pretty stingy too. Basically a tablespoon and there were chunks of onion in it so not much sauce. When I asked the waitress for more sauce she said I had to pay extra. Ok well how about you provide enough sauce for the quantity of fish you are giving me?? The wait for food was quite long too so I had to follow up. The waitress came back after to check on the food so service was ok. The atmosphere was nice but this place is just overpriced for what they serve. Won't be rushing back here unless it's just for drinks.

Worth a visit for the sea food platter for two, big platter full of quality and all fish cooked perfectly. Good service a bit loud on a Sunday afternoon but apart from that was great.

We enjoyed lunch in the warm sunshine and gentle breeze outside at Bathers... had the burger and salmon n prawn croquettes. This was our second visit now. You can't beat the location, its obviously prime real estate and this really is the reason the food is over-priced. The food is fine but by no means extraordinary. Neither is the decor and service. Overall I would neither rave nor complain but I would reserve this place for pre-dinner drinks with friends at sunset and move on elsewhere for dinner.

We started off 2weeks earlier with a booking for 16 people. They were already booked out and although you couldn't reserve seats on the outside they said they would reserve 3 tables on the south side. On arrival we realised the round tables wouldn't suit the party ambience. So with in trepidation we asked the manageress if we could move our party inside. She said we would have to be seated on the high tables which was fine and then we added another 4 people to our party. They moved another high table to accommodate us. At no time was this ever a bother and they started service straightaway and Rory introduced himself as our waiter for the night. Drinks were brought out promptly and once we ordered our 19 main meal dishes they came out at the same time and we were able to eat together.  Apparently the 'nippers' fish and chips were fantastic and the best our kids have ever tasted. Thank you to the Manageress, Rory and other waitstaff on the night. Service fantastic, food was delicious, sunset to die for. Perfect part of Fremantle. Thank you again. We will be back.....

Went this morning for brunch, on a SUNDAY. Was told breakfast stops being served at 11, lunch doesn't start till 12. We couldn't order food for an hour. COME ON!!!! Decided that we may as well persevere. Ordered some coffees and were told we had to give our licences over if we wanted to order something. We decided to leave and were surprised when the waiter huffed and started running to the kitchen to stop the automated order. What a joke won't be coming back!

Good seafood platter to share between two at $72. Fresh prawns and tasty seafood. Missing oysters but was substituted with octopus, we don't really mind the change but the friendly staff waitperson should've informed us beforehand. Good sunset view but please book ahead to secure the window bay seats.

Service was quite slow. We sat outside to get a good view of the beach but the birds kept coming over to tables with leftover food and then coming over to our table. The kids were quite scared but other than that, the food was good.

Beautiful view with nice sea breeze and mug of flat white, what a great Sunday morning. <br/>Corn & Zucchini fritters, smashed avocado, chilli, tomato, creme fraiche - Delicious! <br/>Crispy bacon & fried eggs on dourdough was ok. Fast and great service. <br/>

Lovely venue and setup, Went to enjoy breakfast with the family. Half the drinks arrived 15 min after ordering, poached eggs took 35 min to be served. The poached eggs were over done and the sourdough toast was way too crispy and hard. No butter was offered. Below average meal, especially with the high prices charged. <br/>I gave feedback to the employee at counter, hopefully it will be taken on board, I will go again and give it one more chance.

We just had the seafood platter for 2. What can I say? Service was second to none. Food was even better. We thought that Joe's Fish Shack had a great platter, but this has much better views.

29/10/2016 - Another satisfying meal at Bathers. A few niggles with the food and service tonight - I was a little disappointed that my "crispy skin" Barramundi had soft, soggy skin, and the kitchen never seemed to be able to get 6 meals ready at the same time, with members of our party waiting almost 10 minutes while everyone else already had their food - not acceptable!<br/><br/>---<br/>Very happy to find that they had room for walk-ins, though to be fair, it was a Monday night. The location is stunning, especially at sunset. Nice menu and lovely food, although the service was only satisfactory, but that may have been due to inexperience or language barriers - easily forgivable! Great place for location dining, and would definitely recommend it!

Really torn over this restaurant. Walk in and the setting is nice, location awesome, view beautiful. We went for a birthday so got a nice table. <br/>Wait stuff were kinda annoying, kept nagging us to order when we weren't ready, and even when they took orders, got them wrong and we had to repeat several times. <br/>Started off with drinks. Some came in a timely manner but others we had to ask for 3 times, and one of them wasn't made properly and had to be re-ordered.<br/>Entrees came out fairly quickly. Tasted good but were quite small, expected more for the price. <br/>Mains came out and they tasted ok, pretty much like a pub meal. Too full for dessert. <br/>Was neither here nor there. So much potential ruined by the lack of service that is evident in the reviews that you read on here. <br/>Location/view: 9/10<br/>Service: 4.5/10<br/>Food: 6.5/10<br/>Price: 5/10
Cam's Corner
Cooking dinner went out the window tonight so we decided to take a drive to Freo to find something tasty. I've been to Bathers a couple times for a casual lunch but never sat inside for dinner. <br/><br/>On our arrival we were met by a smiling employee (I think the manager) who asked if we had a booking... Nope.... So we took a seat on the high tables and ordered a wine while we waited which was meant to be 20 minutes. Half way through I first wine a table became free which was great and it was time to order. <br/><br/>We had the squid to share, grilled barramundi & scotch fillet steak (could do with a little less salad and add something else). All the food was fantastic along with the wine and views of the sunset. $130 for the food and bottle of wine but there were also plenty of cheaper options. <br/><br/>Great venue location, good service, reasonable $$$ options, late lunches or 5pm drinks would be our favorite time.

Service was very poor, when we went up to the counter to ask about tables we were given a dirty look and rude response. The caesar salad was the worst I have ever had, the salad itself tastes bitter and off. The view was quite nice, still I will definitely not be going back.
Hangry Hippo
Service was excellent and friendly..food came out within 15 minutes on a very busy day..loving the Mexican playlist which suits the theme..food was fresh and well presented

Beautiful view, ate at dusk. Service was pretty good, entree was good too, generous and tasty! Mains; barramundi was claimed as " cope bay" but sorry to say was crafty way of saying, only farmed Barra, sorry. Burger was tasty but dry. Broccoli linguine was nice, mussels and kids fish and chips were a hit. Overall, 4 of the 7 mains were good and entrees fine.

Best experience! The waiter (with the best mustache in the business) served us and was absolutely amazing!! He even gave us free ice cream as we were sitting and chatting for so long! Great food and great atmosphere, definitely a must go to! W

It's a great place to have a drink with a great beach view, laid back vibe.. I'm hesitant to do more than that though based on a few of my friends experiences. After some drinks on a weekday we asked to get a table for dinner (there was a lot of back and forth between waiter and a couple other staff) we could have a table but for 45mins possibly longer but they weren't sure.. It all just seemed too difficult so we didn't bother.
Dave
This would have to be the noisiest restaurant we've ever been to! At times the noise level was overwhelming.<br/><br/>It's very popular though and looking around I can only think that maybe a lot of people like it like that.<br/><br/>When it finally arrived, the service was great. The food was exceptional. A very good wine list too.<br/><br/>We won't be going back though.
