Review Mother India Fremantle - Fremantle

Paul Draskovich
Amazing Indian food. To date the best I have eaten in WA, by a long way. The flavours, spices and quality of the food is amazing. Service is also very good. Clearly a lot of people agree because their takeaway service was also very busy.

I have been here a lot in the past and it has always been delicious . The other say we went and ordered palak paneer which was ok , nothing excellent , not creamy just the spinach mixed with the cheese. They were open just 3 nights a week so they make the most money with take always , from 6.30 till 8.45 was a non- stop of people picking up take always. I think now they are doing quantity over quality… that’s very sad …

The food here is amazing! Awesome customer service too! I came by on my walk, just as they were closing and the lady working there was so kind and let me buy some yummy food to take home even though they were packing up. The price was fantastic and there are so many options for different dietary requirements (I'm vegan so I'm always looking for places that have amazing vegan food). The restaurant looks nice and clean inside- I haven't eaten there (only had take away) and there's a lovely park right next to the restaurant to eat your food at too.

Excellent food and great service. The tandoori chicken was incredibly good, one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Perfectly cooked!

We got take away for a family of 4. Containers are extremely shallow - with about 2-3 pieces of meat - if lucky! Food is okay but you don't get your money's worth. Lucky our family wasn't hungry and I had samosas/bhaji from the local Indian story to supplement. What a rip off! Will not be a return customer nor recommend to anyone.

Come here for very spicy curries !! This place is in my opinion for people with a taste for very spicy curry and a tolerance for a street kitchens noise straight out of central Mumbai The fish curry I had was excellent fillets of mackerel but when asked for the most mild curry it turned out to be medium to spicy. The wait staff were excellent and the area has plenty of parking If you are wanting a table where you can hear each other talk book a table in the back dinning rooms. The front dining room serves from the window takeaways and has to shout tp people outside for their order The staff also shout to each other from the kitchen only metres away. This seemed at times to be faulty towers with good food.

Best Indian meal I have had in Australia, service great & lovely people & will be recommending to everyone. Will be back when in Fremantle.
David Fletcher
Some of the best Indian takeaway I've ever had! Glad to find this gem of a spot tucked away in Freo.

I’m so happy I found this restaurant. This is the best Indian in Perth. Not watered down or purposely made bland to cater for Western taste. Authentic!
Regular Diner
Best Indian I’ve found in Perth in a long time. Very friendly, great serving sizes. Most of all you won’t be disappointed by the taste. It is very authentic and hasn’t been sweetened or dumbed down for the western palate. A new favorite!!

This is such a good restaurant. It isn't flash, in fact pretty basic, but the food is fresh, beautifully prepared and the staff, friendly, knowledgable and helpful.

We were a party of four, and everyone agreed that all the dishes were of an excellent standard.

If you intend to eat there, perhaps book as it's a very popular venue, and also caters - in a really big way - for Uber Eats, so things get busy.

But, overall, a delightfully small, efficient and lovely placed to enjoy a great range of Indian food, and a wine brought from home; it's BYOG.

Arghhhh! This is THE best Indian food I've had in Perth!!! If you're a first timer for takeaway, be patient if you don't get through on the first call - it's worth persevering for!!!
Kat
Absolutely amazing food and service. Only picked up take away for a lazy sunday and am so glad we tried mother india! Only waited an extra 15 mins and the staff we so apologetic. We didnt mind waiting at all but they still threw in lots of complimentary extras. All mains are GF which is perfect for me as a coeliac. All dishes were devine! We couldn't believe the generous amount of perfectly cooked spanish macky in the goan fish curry. It will definately be a regular for us now. Winderful freo gem. Well done mother india!
Some Like It Hot
Such good food in a casual home like venue. Had the poppadums with katchumber, mango chutney and the chilli mint dip. They were all great. The mixed starter was nice but not too fussed on the samosa. The Goan curry with prawns was the dish I chose which medium heat. So delicious. Garlic naan had good flavour. My friend had the chicken madras and found it too hot but it is a very hot curry. Furthermore, BYO no corkage. Came to 105 bucks for the 3 of us. Can’t wait to go back :)

Great authenric curries, simple laid back environment. ts about flavours, this place will go a long way if they continue what they have achieved

Eating at Mother India is like being welcomed into someone's home. There are different rooms to the 'house' our area had about 17 diners. The restaurant was busy and also seemed to be doing a roaring trade with takeaway orders which may have been the reason for us having to wait a while for our orders to be taken, .It's not a fine dining experience and the plates we were given didn't match, but to be honest that for us added to the quirkiness of place. Our server was absolutely lovely, friendly and discouraged us from over-ordering e.g. rice and paratha - indicating what would be enough for our party of 4 (she was right). My husband ordered Vindaloo - he was warned it would be hot (which it was but got the thumbs up for taste). We literally felt like we had an Indian feast - pappadums, onion bhaji's, samosas, Chicken Vindaloo, chicken madras and chicken tikka masala with turmeric rice and paratha came to $134.50 for 4 people. All the curries had abundant meat and the sauces were thick and delicious. The restaurant is BYO and well worth a visit - but do book.

This place deserves more than a 5.0! The food is absolutely out of this world. I have struggled to find authentic Indian flavours that haven’t been dulled down or tweaked. Mother India absolutely nails the flavours, and use good quality meat (and don’t rip you off). The restaurant itself mirrors someone’s living room so I’d recommend taking away! I’ll be back again and again.
Sandhya1814
The rice pullao smelled very nice. Wasnt the biggest fan of the dalcha. Chicken curry was good and the dhal was average. I had take aways so cant say much about the place in general.

Got takeaway from this place for dinner one day and paid $32. To my pleasant surprise the portions were huge! Probably even more than when you dine in the restaurant. You could probably feed 2 people for 2 meals!

I ordered the chicken vindaloo, palak paneer and garlic naan. For both curries I requested for them to be spicier and they totally did not stinge on the chilli. It was legit spicy and burned my mouth but so flavourful I couldn’t stop eating. The garlic naan was a perfect combination to the curries. The only downside was that the curries were slightly too salty for me.

Service was efficient as I called up and arrived to collect my order in 15 min. Great place for authentic spicy Indian food!
Meltingmimosa
Must tried their chicken tikka masala with their garlic naan. It's so delicious recommend for all. Not to miss their tandoori prawns with the nice spices aroma.

Heard about this little gem a few months ago.

Ordered my first takeaway last Wednesday night, just the simple 40 bucks selection.

By gum it was amazing, takes you back to good old English curries on a Sunday night, pub closes at 10.30 pm so let's go get another pint or two of kingfisher lager at the local Indian.

We had the lamb rogan gosh, good well balanced flavour and not to hot on the tongue. Then the chicken korma was tender and a twist of coconut was yummy.

The sides of rice, nan and dhal etc ideal and well cook.

Looking forward to my first dine in experience.

Ps don't tell you friends about this place.

Lol
Jono1492
Amazing food, welcoming setting and staff. $50 to comfortably feed two people pllus a little extra to take home for lunch! Hard to find spots like this these days, cheers Mother India!
Foodle
Excellent curry, lovely set up. Reasonable prices - especially with some of the banquets. I found the beef vindaloo tasty but didn't like the quality of the beef - have since had the chicken vindaloo instead which is amazing!

You have a feeling that you're in for a treat when you roll up to a restaurant and the grandmother is sitting outside the front of the restaurant taking a breather from the kitchen. Mother India would have to be one of the best authentic Indian restaurants I have ever been to. Everything from the beef vindaloo to the naan bread was spot on. The restaurant looked liked it may have been a corner deli in a previous life and you have to look twice upon arriving as you get the feeling you've made a wrong turn and missed the restaurant. But as long as the restaurant is clean and serves great food, nothing else really matters. The service was great, the cost was reasonable and its byo with no corkage! I love going to these hidden little suburban gems. In saying that, I have a feeling that it wont be hidden for too much longer...
Truth Be Told Australia
What an Indian experience 🍚 great little family restaurant. Authentic flavours that will blow you away. Quite spicy but you can request for a more mild spice if you are weak 😅. No seriously one of the best Indian meals we have had, the samosas are Devine and the Goan king prawns are a must . You must book as it gets very busy .. Do yourselves a favour and try this place !
Michael Lomma
Mother India from the outside might not seem like the ideal place to go for dinner, but dont be fooled. This place is the honestly the mother of all indian restraunts.

Located amongst residential housing in east freo this place is amazing. Remember make a booking because these guys sell out most nights and bring cash because thats all they take which they deserve.

The Beef Vindaloo is the hottest curry I've ever had, but so god damn good!!!!
Sybarite
Finally made it to the number 1 curry house in Perth. I have never been blown away by a curry but I was blown away here. The lamb saagwala is to die for. The butter chicken is incredible. Garlic naan also divine. I despise cash only policy, which this place has. Also telephone manner leaves a lot to be desired. But hey, they can clearly get away with it. We got take away so not sure what in house service is like but I definitely plan on going back to try more.
La Gastronomique
Delicious flavours and the food is always made with love. Tandoori Chicken entree is a must and the Goan Prawn Curry is exceptional. Bring a bottle of wine or a couple of beers and enjoy. They get busy quickly so get there early. Highly recommend.

Tonight we had the Royal Mother India Banquet, the food here is very fresh and good quality produce is used in all dishes. All dishes are spiced nicely and the quantity of food povided in the banquet was very satisfying for four people.

Payment is either cash or direct funds transfer by your banks phone app at the counter, no Eftpos.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food here and I will definitely be back.
Bethany Donoghue
Best Indian I have had in a long time, we got ours to take away due to the sit down area being really busy. Food was made fast but still hot when we got home.

The building its self doesn't look like much by the food was delicious, we had the chicken tikka masala and it was fantastic, very spicy but still great!

I will definitely be revisiting this place soon!
E
Ordered takeaway here. The food was average but definitely not fantastic.

I was disappointed in the lamb rogan josh I ordered. There wasn't much meat and the meat that was in the curry was tough. The curries I ordered were very watery. The naan's were more like lebanese bread. They were very dense.

The dhal and pappadums were good. The rice was cooked perfectly.
Brad Jackson
Love this place! While it looks rough from outside, it is indeed unpretentious and instead focuses on the food and service.

Classic country style service and great authentic Indian flavours. The Lamb Vindaloo is awesome, but varies in intensity (I dont mind, but partner does). The take away family packs are great value and leaves left over food for the following day.
J Smith
Please stay away from this place, it's busy enough as it is on the weekends. Seriously though it's good quality, delicious Indian food! All the dishes are good! Palak paneer is a staple order every time and I try to try at least one new dish each time and they have yet to disappoint. Apart from the food, the home atmosphere and warm service makes this place special. I waited 10 mins for a pick up order since they were so busy and they gave me a mango lassi free, lil touches like that make this place a favourite I'll keep on coming back to.
Esther
Consistently good...have been here several times now. Curries are great, especially the lamb Kerala. Authentic Indian cuisine, reasonably priced. No corkage charges when dining in and free onion bhaji which is a nice touch! Only negative I would say is the naan bread, tastes very thick and bland, lacking flavour.
Rob Versaci
Consistently good Indian food. Been back many times with family and friends. Small restaurant with homely feel and friendly quick service. Defiantly will keep coming back for more.

Mother Indian food has flavours from the heart of its culture.
I have become regular here cannot believe how consistent this place is
everytime simple great flavours no fuss service & great value.
Locals secret is out this place is not a flash joint but I love it, feels like eating in mother india's home losses 1/2 a point for not being open 7 days... : )

Tip : Take Cash & BYO go early, take friends, eat, laugh & come back do it all again..
Eva Gundelach
What a letdown. Used to really enjoy this place, but the last two take away orders have been bland and watery (curries) and doughy (naan). Unfortunately not coming back.
Gemima
Yep, this is the ultimate Indian restaurant in Fremantle. Never ceases to please the taste buds. Excellent service. Old house has been made into an amazing restaurant. Homely atmosphere. Number one choice

We are a family of six that LOVE our Indian and have lived all over the world soooo my husband and I carried out a recon visit on our own to assess Mother India. Food was incredible and staff unfaultable. We were caught offgaurd on the CASH ONLY policy and offered to leave our drivers license while we went to a handybank but the owner said it wasn't necessary and trusted us to return with the cash. How lovely to be trusted in this day and age! This is now a family favourite for eat in and delivery.
Bebe
After planning to go there for long time finally I made it. I ordered samosas, chicken tikka masala and garlic nan. They were very good especially the curry which was flavorsome and lots of chicken too. Oh! the waiter (front of house was excellent too.He handled everything pretty well though it took him quite awhile to take order but hey! What could he do when he was the only person at the front. Will come back soon for you.
Jelena Stojanovic
We only ever had take-away and the food was excellent. We have tried chicken korma and chicken madras. If you are looking for great authentic Indian, give this place a go!
Verity De Fries
This place doesn't look flash, but the food is phenomenal! They brought around complimentary bhaji which was lovely, as it saved us from ordering an entree. Boyfriend and I shared the butter chicken, palak chicken and Madras potatoes and were very happy. Every dish was superb! A bonus is that it is BYO and don't charge corkage. Will definitely be back!
Cassie
Small restaurant that does some good Indian food at reasonable prices. Have had the butter chicken and naan bread from here- the butter chicken here is different to other butter chickens I've had in that it's a tad spicy. Which isn't a good or bad thing- just different!
Gee
When you first see this place, you are definitely unsure of what it will entail... a little old house converted into a restaurant. But I can tell you this is the best indian you will ever eat! We have been to this restaurant a number of times and it never disappoints! Butter chicken and chicken korma are faves for sure! Mother India brings India to Perth!

This is my new favourite Indian restaurant near Freo. I have been there 3 times now and have never been disappointed by the meal that I have had or the value for money.

I love their food, and the decor.
Yoga.nixon
Great little family run restaurant. Enjoyed authentic spicy food

No Delivery on Sunday. It's not mentioned anywhere on their website or brochure, and I called up and said I'd like to make a delivery order as normal, and was snappily told that "No Delivery! If you want anything you have to come and pick it up!". Poor service and poor documentation/misleading opening hours. Either offer delivery or not. Will not be attempting to purchase food from this place again. 0/10.

Hands down the best curry in WA!!!
Consuming Passion
Wow - what a surprise. Don't be mistaken by the front facade, this little flavor box packs a punch.
A table of 4 adults and 1 child all left with a satisfaction rating of 10 / 10.
Fresh, original home style curry in a simple but efficient setting.
We will be back or take away!
Jodie.sprljan
Well loved. We have been eating Indian food from here for over 15 years, it is consistently the best tasting and the best value in the freo region. Like many others we dine in only occasionally but routinely order takeaway , the lamb saag is the best and I recommend it to everyone. . I hope they keep going for another 25 years at least. I keep waiting for the day they will offer Indian cooking classes during the day time . What I wouldn't give for thAt,
Sharon Mchenry-Allan
First time and we really enjoyed the food. Love the casual, homely feel. Staff excellent, little older lady so sweet. Very busy. Would definitely go again, just one suggestion. A thali type choice would be great, especially when one person is vegetarian. otherwise very nice.

Amazing Amazing Indian Cuisine. This is hands down the tastiest and most quality Indian Cuisine in Freo. I order this takeaway as well priced and the chicken is quality and not like the lucky dip fatty bit chicken you usually get in some other places. The employees are always very friendly. I'm not one for reviews but absolutely love the taste and quality of this food!
Ge'inmabelle
Excellent value and soooo tasty. Definitely coming back.
byo beer and wine and only take cash though.

Knock Your Socks Off. Just finished our feed from this restaurant. This was our first vist and the food was Delish. We have two small children so ordered them the butter chicken which was really lovely, slight bit of heat, very flavoursome and beautiful creamy sauce, we also ordered the goat casserole and beef vindaloo. We didn't finish the vindaloo as it was hot, hot, hot!! If you're out for a curry to clear your nose, pores, and everything else then this is the dish for you. After a couple of mouthfuls my husbands mouth was burning, his face was red and he was sweating profusely. Despite this dish being too hot (for us) the overall meal was really flavoursome and enjoyable. We'll be back.
FreoFoodie
Great flavours but the beef let it down. I have passed Mother India many times before I realised it actually existed. Its clearly very popular the staff were very welcoming. Given the high scores and comments on Urban spoon I was expecting something special. Upon seating we were offered a complimentary Onion Bhaji taster and I must say it was probably the best I have ever had and I eat Indian food on a regular basis.
My wife had the Butter Chicken and I had the Beef Madras. The Butter Chicken was simply superb. The spices were very tasty and well balanced and the chicken was perfectly cooked. However, the Beef Madras was a disappointment. Although the flavour of the sauce was excellent the beef was almost inedible. It had every range of textures from being chewy, fatty, so tough I couldn't cut it with a knife to being perfectly cooked. What a shame because the rest was so good. With perfectly cooked beef the dish would be transformed.
I will definitely go back again but I wont be touching the beef. If the owners get that right this Restaurant could claim to be one of the very best Indian Restaurants in Perth. If they continue to serve the beef like I had they will become part of the following pack.
Bartonicus
Bartonicus. I agree with the previous commentator on this restaurant as the food is consistently good. Have used it for a few years now and decided to pen this critique after having a disappointing meal at the Copper Chimney. Indian food is the most satisfying dining experience for me (and wife) when the food is well prepared and freshly cooked which this restaurant does with flying colours. We use it mainly as a takeaway as the restaurant itself is small and falls down on decor but I have been eating Indian food for 48 years split between the UK and Australia and Mother India is well up the ladder on quality. I would like them to see them add a few more additions to their menu to stand apart from the crowd such as Balti dishes but that is for another day.
Billy.oreilly
Easily Best Indian in Perth. I have never posted a review on anything before but feel I had to here. Im extremely fussy when it comes to eating Indian in Australia and for years have never found one I have enjoyed since moving from the UK. However Mother India is by far the closest Indian to those in England and I would happily go well out of my way to get a take away from here than any of the others close to where I live. Fantastic!! I just hope I don't curse myself now after writing this review.
Mike
Great food. We float around where we get our Indians from, but mother India is always in our top 3. Food is flavoursome has some good flavors through the dishes. Ordered here around 10 times and never been disappointed.

The only thing I would request to add on your leaflets is notify its cash only, as the nearest cash machine is a 10 min round journey.
Albert821014
Awesome food and friendly service. First time to review a restaurant, only read others. But I have to and have to say this is the best India food I've ever had. Awesome and will come back...
Jellee Babee
Not sure why everyone is raving. Went for the first time Saturday night. The place was full and there were heaps of people coming in during our meal to collect their takeaway orders. That gave me great hopes for the meal we were about to consume - lamb rogan josh vege korma, beef vindaloo, 2 serves of saffron rice, and a garlic + peshwari naan.
Where do I start on the quality? The lamb curry was flavoursome but the meat was fatty and inedible. Similarly the beef curry had a beautiful flavour but the meat itself was overcooked, making it tough and chewy instead of tender and flaky. The vege dish was nice but the saffron rice tasted like plain basmati - hardly any saffron colour or flavour! The naan bread was okay - garlic one needed salt or butter or something to tone down the garlic, while the peshwari was not one of the better ones I've ever tasted.
All up, the 5 of us spent just $75 which sounds like value but isn't really considering the quality.
Also their knowledge on food allergies, specifically gluten free, is seriously limited and this is reflected in limited menu options.
We didn't complain on the night mainly because the service was so friendly. Clearly the team behind Mother India is doing their best to provide a great local eatery and they do it with a smile which is paying off for them.
Pipetual
Amazing Indian. Delicious and reasonably priced Indian food, and friendly staff. This place is a regular for me and never disappoints.

BEST CURRY IN WA. SIMPLY THE BEST BETTER THAN ALL THE REST, i love this place the foods always amazing and never disappoints.

10/10. Food is great. Service is great. Price is, you guessed it, great.

Totally amazing place and nice food. The food is so delicious!! definately will come back n eat there again.. a must try for everybody. the place is also easy and clean. love this place.

Overpriced samosas!. The samosas are definitely overpriced for their bite size dimensions. 8 bucks for 4 bite size samosas is way too much, considering other Indian restaurants such as Mela and Chutney Mary's serve samosas that are double in price for the same size.
I brought it to the attention (owner or manager) who seemed unfazed and was rather rude.
Last time we ever visit mother india. We are taking our business elsewhere
River Daisy
Best Indian. A friend referred us to this restaurant. She reckoned: "It's the best Indian I've ever eaten", A hidden gem.
Antony
Genuinely warm service in homely surrounds. Beautiful cooking, chicken vindaloo may not sound promising but it's a revelation. Loved the onion bhajis and mint chutney.
Nora
Indian food. I think that the indian food that is being served at this indian restaurant is definitely tasty. Thankyou mother

Perth's best Indian with a side of the greatest customer service. We walked in for a table but it was booked out so we ordered take-away. The wait was meant to be 45 minutes but the lady sped up our order! While we waited we were served appetizers!
Definitely the best and hottest vindaloo! Traditional charcoal flavored tandoori and naan to top it off!
Towm8to
Oh yeah......its a creeper!!. We ate here just last nite with our friends cos they'd heard about the goodness from some guys at his work.
And true that! What a hell feed :) The heat came on slow, crept up and in 5 - 10 mins was almost drippin of my forehead, but not the kind to burn your mouth first bite, real good.
My chicken tikka had massive pieces of chicken all thru it and nice gravey. The onion barjies were great too and the dipping sauce was the best ive had - no joke.
We took some beers and wine, (mum was good for chin-wag)! you'll see.
Top to bottom a great time, lucky i live close.. i'll be headin back haha

The mothers milk of Indian Feeds! superb Goan fish curry is second to none!. This unassuming little place used to be located in Cottesloe, I thought it had closed permanently until the smell wafting across the traffic and putrid sheep trucks of this strange part of freo alerted me of its presence. I am so glad! I have been to probably every 'significant' indian restaurant in Perth and this one trumpts the lot! and its cheaper! The best Goan fish curry I have had! the bonus of BYO, amazing Naans! the lot! The Vindaloo has a real decent kick and is perhaps unadvisable for some of the weaker curry feasters. I have tried everything on the menu and would recommend each and every single one! Last time I had a huge crew here, and rather than dismiss a motley looking bunch of young alcho's they gave us free vegetarian curries in addition to our massive order! I cannot fathom how average - woeful places such as Chutney marys can continue to trade so successfully when a restaurant as superb as this exists? probably because Mother india is such a generous lady!
Bella
Don't judge a book by it's cover. From outside it looks ordinary but a secret treasure awaits .
The greeting and attentive service on arrival was outstanding which also continued through our service. When ordering we had eye's bigger than bellies and the waiter kindly bought the serving sizes to our attention. The price and quantity of the dishes exceeds any other Indian.
The flavours and quality of food were magnificent and they had the courtesy to ask during our time how the taste and heat level was and if there was anything we required.
We have been twice now and would go more often but we live over an hour away.
Exceptional !!!!!!!!!!!
Spikey1987
Excellent a definite must !!! The best indian in perth and priced perfectly ! If you want to treat yourself to indian mother india is definitely the go !!! A+ all round !
Chris Booth
Most authentic curries. This is probably the best and most authentic Indian Restaurant I have found south of the river. The curries truly are amazing and full of flavour. The restaurant is tiny and quite hidden so don't expect 'fine-dining'. The service is always fast and friendly. I strongly recommend this to any curry lovers chasing the best Indian around.
Pilgrimmum
Great food and atmosphere. Delicious food! Try the Korma lamb and the Masala tea was very refreshing. Great service as well. Would recommend for a nice night out. Only take ur own wine and they only take cash.
Fredwhite
Great experience. Great little place. Top food with fantastic service. thumps up for the owner lady
Tasher68
Wonderful Mother India. 7 of us dined at Mother India last night after reading reviews from Urbanspoon and receiving confirmation from a Sri Lankan lady at work that this was the best Indian in Perth - and I agree. We wondered when we arrived if we were at the right place as the restaurant is a house, in what appers a residential area. The decor is very simple but the service was outstanding - very relaxed and happy staff. The food was amazing, full of flavour and all freshly made. We'd definitely recommend Mother India to anyone who's looking for a relaxed, reasonably priced Indian meal in Freo, it lives up to its high reputation.
Tang Doggy
Loved da food, quality feeds down at horrie long !! Xox

Best Indian we've had in Perth. Great cosy house atmosphere and lovely hosts
Pickled Saltire
Had a lovely meal here with the quality of the produce used being standout obvious.
Very little to criticise, but the naan breads were more like rotis than proper naans.

FINALLY!. Thank god! I've been on a quest with a group of friends for some time now on the best Indian in Perth and we've finally found it.

It's right in a burbs so you wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking. It's super daggy, but the smell of the food gets you the moment you get out of your car!

The food was sensational. Apart from my mother in laws cooking, this was hands down the best I've had. Our meal consisted of Bhiaj's, Dhal, Beef Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka & Potato Fry. The flavours were out of this world and delivered with fantastic service.

I can't wait to bring friends here to try it.

It's cash only and BYO.
Saskia
Lovely service very polite and really care about their customers. Generous service and the place has a nice family running it which gives it a warm vibe that is so rare today, especially in hospitality. They genuinely care about making you welcome!
Ishan Ranaweera
Mind Blowing!. Wanted to go there for awhile and finally went there few weeks ago. The food is simply amazing.. one of the best Indian food I have tried here in Perth. The staff is very friendly too and the whole atmosphere is amazing. Make sure you book in advance though as its a small place and gets booked out very quickly!.
Kate
Fantastic food n exclusive service. Thank you mother India for looking after us. Love her hospitality. Great simple curry.

Amazing and Authentic. Amazing , Amazing , Amazing !!
It's a simple place but the food and service made up for it . Location was a little hard to find in the night , so after going up and down the street , figured that it was a stand alone house ??
We were served by a very gentle Indian man who enquired often about whether everything was ok , and ok it was .
BYO, Great service , good prices ......... There are still a few gems in Perth !!

Best Onion Bhajis. Best onion Bhajis I have ever had (including from restaurants in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth). Food is consistently fantastic. Service, although sometimes can be hit and miss, is overall attentive and stems fom a genuine deire to please the customer. Great Indian cuisine with fantastic flavoured curries and generous servings. Have not once left Mother India dissatisfied with the meal. Cash only, which can prove troublesome, so be prepared for this before you go.

Awesome Food. This is a BYO, cash only no frills Indian. The inside decor is rustic, but who cares. The food is top shelf and plentiful. The staff are excellent and very reasonably priced. I don't think you will find better Indian in Perth.

Awesome first visit :). Food was fabulous (certainly spicy!!), service was friendly, with attention to detail. We had complimentary raita, poppadums, and onion bhajis!! (best onion bhajis ever tasted!) Our children were also given chocolate eggs by a lovely Indian lady. What a great evening! The butter chicken was the best I have ever had, the vindaloo was 'spectacular', (not for the faint hearted!), the lamb was tender and juicy and the garlic naan bread was divine. We have spent many years in Perth going to other Indian restaurants, unaware of the existence of Mother India, what a shame..............we shall certainly now be frequenting this unassuming, family friendly dining establishment. :)

Fantastic. Lovely, fresh, healthy food. Off to get some more tonight, and can't wait to try the Garlic Naan, which most people have raved about. Last time we got a set menu for four and fed 5 hungry people, all of whom were very satisfied and impressed with the great curries. Well done Mother India, it is such a pleasure to be able to dine out/get take away that far outshines what one can create at home. Long live Mother India!

Amazing !. Quite possibly the best Indian in Perth, and reasonably priced.
The butter chicken is a little too sweet for my liking and the vindaloo always upsets my stomach (but it's so hot and tasty I can't resist it).
Generous with seafood in the curries and good quality meats are used.

Yummylicious. Came by today on a spontaneous note with my dear friend who decided that she was craving something spicy..a short google and call later we were on our way to mother india with nothing short of high expectations given the great ratings provided.

found this small establishment and the first thing that struck was the awesome smell of good indian cooking wafting through the air. we quickly ordered and had their garlic naan, butter chicken and palak paneer.

food was nothing short of awesomely good. the more butter chicken i had, the more i liked it! garlic naan had the right amount of garlic and was baked to perfection!

owner was really friendly and i absolutely enjoyed this experience. am looking to go back for the set banquet menus! (4 ppl min)!

Best Indian. We've been dining at Mother India since discovering this gem a year ago. It is a small, family run restaurant which serves authentic, honest indian food. We've never had anything but friendly, prompt service and delicious food. When recommending this restaurant to me someone described the vindaloo as the best in Perth. Personally, I prefer and love the palek dishes. Love love love this place.

Great Food. Robert Ibbeson, I read your comment about Mother India. We used to work together in Bunbary and still cannot believe you still carry this attitude "full of yourself".

We all come from UK and we expect the same taste we had for years in UK. That does not mean real Indian food is from UK. It is obviously from INDIA. I frequently visit this place for years and traveled around India many a times. I feel Mother India make their food, Home style and with Basic fresh ingredietns to provide healthy food. Which is difficult to find these days. I can understand the food was not to your taste but you could have told that to the friendly family who run this place and they would have replaced it without much fuss. This has been my past experience.Instead of being part of this cyber bullying going on presently.

Please grow up.

.

This place has a 92% 'like'.
Started off with really nice Onion Bhaji's & Samosa's. Then the main course went downhill rapidly. Probably the worst Naan Bread I've ever had.
This place wouldn't even match an average Indian restaurant in the UK

1st time last night my partner and I will return. Beautiful fresh Indian flavours, naan was perfect, BYO always a bonus no corkage, Clean tables comfy chairs , cold water served, prices are excellent, size servings the same you would get in most Indian restaurants. Meat was tender, plenty of sauce we had onion bahjai's, lamb palak mild, butter chicken mild and saffron rice for 2 beautiful... A hidden gem can't wait to try other dishes ...

Best in Freo. I have had take away food from here several times and its by far the best curry I have had in Fremantle area. I will be back

Indian at its best. Been there 5 times and worth the treck from beaconsfield past a dozen or so other indian restaurants... well priced, friendly service, good serving size and and fragrant dishes.
What more can you ask for?

Best Indian in Perth - Really. After reading the amazing reviews, I had to try.

Simply the best. Good prices, nice little house, great service, they were so attentive - they brought samples of each dish I wanted to order to ensure that it was not too spicy for me.
The servings are more than enough unless you are a whale and eat huge portions, you will be ok - the portion sizes are no different from any other place, and that is for a reason... it should be enough to a normal human.

Anyway, my husband and I ordered the Butter Chicken which was soo good! Not too sweet (which tends to happen out there) with lots of chicken, not just sauce!
Lamb Korma was divine, definitely the best we've had so far.
The garlic naan was out of this world :) seriously, get some when you visit this place...

Worth it and will become a regular.

We had a great night at mother India. Had a bday party and the staff were wonderful. Mother of India is a beautiful individual making sure we are looked after. Love the food.
