Review Ootong & Lincoln - Fremantle

Lincoln LIU
Such a nice place to hang out with friends. Coffee smelled good and tasted great, just the way I like it, dark roasted maybe. Restaurant itself is spacious, well designed with different sectors and with different kinda seats. We chose the sofa all the way in the back. Outside tables look pretty good as well. Food is not bad, tasty, well prepared and presented. Would recommend everyone visiting freo to give it a try. P.S. for people don’t like sweet, their slushy is worth trying, fruity but not too much.

One of our fav spots! Great coffee, delicious menu items and perfect location for people watching. We ordered the Istanbul Brunch and Potato Stack and thoroughly enjoyed both 😋
Veronica
such a cute interior! food was very average and on the pricier side had to pay 6.50 for two extra pieces of toast for my shakshuka
Adri B
Generous portion of yummy breakfast food. Delicious cakes and coffee. Definitely my go to place to indulge! ✨

A few more photos added. (2021-06) The Crema brand coffee was seemed medium to dark roasted, aromatic and tasted good. This restaurant has designed a path suitable for wheelchairs and moving around the baby pram. Good atmosphere, enough lighting and spacious. Friendly staff and good service. Cheers!

Lovely little cafe with plenty of quirky seating settings. Looks like a popular spot for getting some work done or a brunch catch up. Food wasn't too bad either.

One of the best Breakfast I have ever had. Went with family and had a great morning. Food was excellent, coffee was perfect, service was fantastic, all around a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend Ootong & Lincoln.

We've been going here for 2+ years. Love, love, love the Turkish Eggs which are making a comeback after a wee break. The space is comfy casual, the food and selection spot on. The very best thing though is the staff, friendly, respectful, helpful, and they smile 😁. Xx J & K

Lovely bustling cafe with great variety of food, lovely and professional staff and prompt service. Not the most family friendly place because of lack of space but other than that a perfect place to catch up with friends for breakfast, brunch or coffee. Will definitely be recommending and going again!

Breakfast with a twist and possibly the best breakfast I've had in Freo...actually, definitely the best. I took my visiting family member here for my first visit. I had Turkish eggs, bit of yoghurt, bit of spice, GF, amazing, family had the lamb.....thing, pumpkin, slow cooked lamb, different choice for brekky, but a winner. We would have licked the plates if no one was watching. Not only that, it came out so quick. Sure, it was a late brekky and the restaurant wasn't at capacity, but still, surprisingly quick. Not one iota of a complaint about the Ootong. 5 stars and if I'm going out for brekky, I'm going O&L.

I headed to oontong and lincoln with my Mother on Monday. Having been recently on a date and feeling a little let down by the experience on that occasion, I thought I would try once more at a different time of day. The place on Monday seemed short staffed and grubby, with tables not being cleaned away or wiped in a timely manner. The place felt cramped and over crowded, especially to the rear of the restaurant where we were sat. It is a shame as I first came here in 2013 on a visit from Kalgoorlie and have been a fan ever since. However, of late I do feel like the place needs some reinvestment in both decor and adequate staffing. I feel like this place is somewhat resting on its well established laurels and I sadly won't be returning.

We had such a beautiful and yummy Mother's Day breakfast there yesterday! The service was great and the staff all worked really hard! They even gave all the mummies a rose for the occasion - such a nice touch I thought! A definite favourite! Can't wait to come back!

Love the ambiance, the salad yummy but for a Vegetarian to get a mouth full of meat when the Arancini ball was labeled as meat free wasn't great for a first visit. Worse was, after 15 minutes having to go and get the replacement Lentil patty that they had "forgotten" to bring to the table. Service could certainly be a bit better.
Judy Rob
Great food but I would like the option of choosing smaller servings.
Sarah Warwick
Simply adore this place for a nuturing eating experience Relaxed charming authentic atmosphere Delicious healthy generous food Generous servings & friendly prices Family friendly , child friendly & dog friendly Excellent coffee too, of course
Cory Dumbrell
Amazing food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere! 10/10

Loved the potato-cake with salmon so yummy can't wait to go again and experience another dish!! X

Great food and friendly staff will definitely be back!

It was a nice environment and the staff were very helpful to arrange a vegan meal but seriously needs to be more plant based options it's a bit of a meat fest. Food was lovely
Jonathan Corrigan
As always, outrageously good brunch!!! My fave in Perth
Gaëtan Schurrer
Best coffee in town, great breaky and brunch, lovely people, excellent setting and decor, what more can you want!?
Nathan Bull
Good coffee good food good atmosphere and setting great place for breakfast

Loved the ambience and vibe. A really chilled place, only had a coffee and a muffin, but both were very enjoyable.

Ive recently moved back to Fremantle after 15 years away..first thing was to find a local which made great chai..had atmosphere and friendly staff..found Ootong..very happy Though would be ecstatic if you used Grumpy Farmer organic diary milk..any chance?

So so busy but take away coffees can be done pretty quickly if needed - like us on New Year's Day when nothing else seemed even open. Good coffee. Love the retro fit out!! Good looks delicious and healthy but like a lot in WA - expensive!! Maybe a backlash from the mining boom? Either way all good and drink is not good value for money In WA. OOtong and Lincoln is no different - cool cafe but overpriced for value.
Evelyn Tan
Food was yummy and had generous servings. Lovely loose teas and very relaxed atmosphere. Chocolate pancakes had a good balance of sweetness and tartness and my husband loved the potato cakes. Would definitely come back.
Jecqua
All time favourite brunch spot. Can't go wrong at Ootong and Lincoln! Their servings are huge, reasonable priced and absolutely delicious. Our favourites are the smushed avo and the potato cakes but to be honest- everything on their menu is a hit!

something new, something different....love to have brunch here and yes they make good coffee!!!!!!!!
Keep It Real
Breaky on a Sunday - YUM!! Service was spot on too. Many, many delicious gluten free options to choose from with an awesome sweet and savoury take away case to choose a treat from. Highly recommend!

The meals have a large portion and I love the crispy chicken burger!

Food Order:<br/>Crispy Chicken Burger - 5/5<br/>Potato Cakes with Poached Eggs - 4/5<br/>Chocolate Chia Pancakes - 5/5<br/><br/>Drinks:<br/>Caramel Milkshake - 4/5(Quantity size can be bigger given the amount of money I paid for it)<br/>Prana Chia Latte - 5/5<br/><br/>Total Bill: $75<br/><br/>Hero Dish: Crispy Chicken Burger with Fries.<br/><br/>Final Verdict: a great cafe situated just outside Fremantle. Plenty of seating inside and outside the cafe. I loved the old school decor and great atmosphere inside the cafe. Good portion sized food which is important to me since I eat big, haha. Very happy with the food, burger is so delicious along with their top seller which are the pancakes. Try them for sure. Given its in Fremantle, parking is not much of an issue since it's located just outside the Fremantle strip area away from the hustle and bustle. Wait times are not long for food either. So I'll be back here again soon to try something different =)

Funky place with good food and coffee. I have been here many times over the years. It a nice open space with a good selection of food and drinks. One thing I’ve noticed here, people are more open to chatting i.e. the table next to you. Something about the venue that just relaxes people.

Eh, maybe I caught the chef during an off moment because that's all I can say about the meal I had at Ootong. I ordered the potato rosti eggs hollandaise. The bacon it came with was burnt to a crisp - I like my bacon crispy but not so hard that it's inedible.... This was the first downfall, the hollandaise was SO bland and did not have any lemon nodes as hinted at in previous reviews I've read (which is why I was excited). To top it off the potato rosti was just a bland square of mashed potato and a tiny bit of herbs - I thought it might have some nicer flavours incorporated but I was wrong. Overall I was really disappointed in this meal and considering the great reviews I guess I ordered at the wrong time of day or something, sad to say I won't be giving them another chance for quite a while.
SweetPoison
Wow... haven’t been to this place in soo long. Was very impressed. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was lovely... it was soo busy and the service was just love and the food came out very quick. The fresh juice you could create yourself and it was delicious. Well priced. No complaints!!

I went here a while ago and the iced mocha and ham and cheese croissants were amazing and I love the atmosphere inside. Parking was a bit hard but it doesn't affect my rating<br/><br/>#coffee#goodcoffee#icedmocha#fremantle

I've been here a few times and think ordering a la carte has always exceeded from the fridge. The turkish eggs were the best I've had/I would eat again and again/everyday if it wasn't a health issue. Delicious! Also super filling, good value. It's also a really chill place to catch up, or do some writing. The ambience is nice, particularly the seats looking out/near the window.

Came here for lunch mid week with my mum and son. Service was prompt. I had the potato rosti with poached eggs and bacon - yum! Large portion size too. Also, good coffee.
Foodie_Pri
Just visited this little gem this morning. Our table ordered the Chicken burger, prosciutto omlette and Turkish eggs along with a couple of caps. The portions were very generous and food tasty. The flavor of the Dukah really came through with the eggs, and they were not stingy with the prosciutto in the omlett. The sweet potato crisps which came with the burger could've been a little crisper. Coffee was not bad. Given it was a public holiday, the food arrived promptly. The cakes on display looked delicious. I'll be back one day to try those.

Very busy cafe in Fremantle, great service and very hip Freo vibe. Decor is eclectic and cool. Great healthy choices in the cabinet.Wait time was good, coffee was lovely and strong , we had the Ootong big breakfast, the egg was a little over cooked and the chick peas were average. Bacon was delicious, chorizo was really spicy but I Don't think it was worth what we paid though . To be honest I was a little dissatisfied..

Oh good grief!! Such amazing smashed avo. I’m almost bursting. This place is GREAT! The menu is awesome, so is the venue, staff are friendly and most importantly, the food came out quickly and was delicious 😋
Luke Archer
One of my favorite spots to grab breakfast consistently yummy food and coffee. Everything on the menu is definetly worth a try. Awesome service always served quickly and with a smile.
Andrew B
Service without a smile.. Food was okay but the service is really bad! They messed up two simple orders and all the wait staff on that day looked as if they really didn’t want to be there. Once again food was okay but the staff and service is very unwelcoming!
Ellie Ann
Incredibly rude staff. Was served a tuna patty with no tuna and staff member with lip piercing made out I was lying and gave me so much sass. Never coming back.
Olivia B
Love love love! It’s oozing atmosphere, and their decor is fascinating and different to anything else you’ll find. Service is friendly (counter-service) and food was delicious. A hidden gem that I always recommend to anyone visiting Freo.
Reuben Black
definitely the cutest brunch place i’ve ever been to. the interior decor was gorgeous and the entire place had a relaxing vibe to it. ordering the omelette was a great choice, as they made the average meal spectacular! only small consideration would be to turn the music up a little haha, but other than that, couldn’t find fault!
Belicia Tjendera
Honestly, it’s pretty much the perfect brunch spot. The portion sizes were big and so worth the price. The ambience of the place was super homey with little knick-knacks and couches all around. My favourite part was probably the table with spreads(vegemite, peanut butter, marmite, jam, etc.), I’ve never seen it anywhere before & now I wish it was everywhere.
Candace Eccleston
It's such a funky joint but we had breakfast there yesterday and my husbands potato cake with bacon and mushrooms was average as best and I had to send my severely overcooked and rubbery <br/>Omelette back before it was grudgingly replaced by another overcooked but edible omelette if I just ate the middle.<br/>I'd go back but only for coffee and cake which is always reliable.
Polly
A great lunch cafe- the decor reminded me of my favourite string of cafes along Brunswick St in Fitzroy, Melbourne. The food was quick to come and a great range on offer including a number of 'safe options' which suited our parents who were dining out with us and some more adventurous dishes including the scrumptious sweet potato latke with molasses pulled lamb- highly recommended. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our two year old was in tow and there is a fabulous little play corner including a shelf of books and a big box of toys. We will definitely visit again soon!
Linda
White maize porridge is to die for. Could have it every single day. But only managing 2-3 times a week. Guilty pleasure. Try it at least once.

I love it here ! Ootong & Lincoln is a very good place to take some cool pic! I like how they decorate their drinks! Simple but tasty. Their Chai Tea Latteee is just so good!! Must try!! <br/><br/>Instagram: Foodie_perth
PerthStorm
Ordered the Chai pancakes after reading a review about them being amongst the best in Perth..<br/>They looked great when they came out but were dry and more like biscuits than pancakes. The 4 other people at our table were the same.<br/>One of us ordered a mushroom stack which she enjoyed but that is where the positives end.<br/>After the great reviews we read about this place we were expecting a lot better.<br/>I have had better food for half what we paid here.
Michelle
A cool cafe with a decent amount of room, more comfortable than you'd expect stools, and food and drinks that cover most tastes. Good for groups, though I'd imagine on weekends it's quite busy.
BitchesWhoBrunch
Service was the fastest I've ever had!<br/>My friend ordered first and when I went up to order and came back to the table her coffee and meal had already arrived.<br/>I had the Avo smash with eggs 🍳 and bacon 🥓.<br/>The green smoothie was very yummy 😋 as well.
Anika Fyfe
Really great cafe - great vibes plus there's tonnes of seating! Love their menu, I feel like it's genuinely different from other cafes. Came here with my family on a Sunday morning, all of our food was fantastic, best orange juice I've ever had. Will definitely be back here soon! Read more www.anikajune.wordpress.com

Reliable cafe for groups.  Noisy, a little less quirky than it used to be but still good.Poached eggs, bacon and mushrooms were great and the coffee is always good. A quality cafe.

Overrated cafe.<br/>Burger wasn't hot when served, it could be a hazard as it's in danger zone. Chips on the side were soggy. Ootong breakfast was tasteless, need more seasoning, and basically the spinach could be served as fresh and just drizzle with salt and olive oil, rather than cooked spinach and it was like been soaked in oil for days. <br/>Coffee was served lightning fast but the food was pretty slow which took more than 30 mins for 2 meals. <br/>What a disappointment :(<br/>
Sambo
We ordered coffee and the special French Toast with banana & berries $17 (& bacon - extra $5😱) Coffee was great and pretty fast considering queue. The French Toast while tasty was overpriced - 1 small slice of bread and definitely not $5 worth of bacon - not even one full rasher! Pretty disappointing, other items on regular menu looked great but seriously would expect more than 1 piece of bread for $22....

Great food, great coffee and great service. Not much more you could really ask for. Definitely has become one of my favourite places to go for a Sunday brunch. Only downside, it's always busy on a Sunday!
Sara Darley
Really good cheap coffee . Warm welcoming atmosphere. Avocado smash is really good . Nice place to take the dog and family for breakfast . Staff are always very nice .
Amy
Nice atmosphere & delicious coffee. Ordered the Potato Cake with Mushroom and that was nice too. Hollandaise sauce was a bit average, other than that no real complaints. Would return👌🏻
JackieLee
Great coffee and cake dont know if its made in house atmosphere was a buzz have to go back for lunch really enjoyed it staff were friendly and attentive.

I have driven by this place so many times it's unbelievable that I hadn't decided too stop and give it ago until this morning!<br/>And boy am I glad!<br/>The coffee was sensational, the arancini mind blowing and the decor is just sensational, makes me feel like I am back in grandmas kitchen for breakfast before college! Old and random! Love it!<br/>I give the extra .5 for the arancini! I love the kids nook, but being CENTRE of the cafe is a little loud because all the toys are big hefty ones and it's very loud and startling when they are thrown or dropped! <br/>[I have a child so I'm not being a meanie - just fact! :)]<br/>Thanks guys, I will be back for lunch and look forward to expanding this review! 🤗

Lovely place in Fremantle with friendly staff. Lots of space and tables for both large and small groups, and animal friendly! We ordered the Pulled pork sanga which had braised beef, capers, egg, herbs and zucchini relish with season sweet potato crisps; Tandoori chicken burger which had marinated chicken, raita, fresh tomato, paneer and cos lettuce with sweet potato crisps; and prawn and zucchini spaghetti. <br/>Really enjoyed those sweet potato crisps. Crunchy salted goodness which matched both the burger and the sanga well. The pasta was really fresh and loved that the noodles are made of zucchini. Just yum. <br/>Coffee here is great. Smooth and tasty. Definitely will return for more. <br/><br/><br/>Prawn and zucchini pasta with basil

If you love dogs, then sitting outside this cafe on a Spring day, watching the passing traffic could be for you. Every second table had a four-legged companion. There's something about the interior that I find uninviting, including the closed-off counter at the front and the separation of the ordering at the back. <br/>This is a classic rough-hewn Freo cafe attracting a lot of locals week days ... and everyone on weekends. Parking can be tight but it doesn't hurt to walk a block or two. Good range of lunches and breakfasts, well cooked and presented. Coffee is full of flavour and prices are reasonable.

Just one glance at the day's breakfast special was all it took for me to make up my mind, and thankfully there were still a couple remaining; an open taco with crushed tomato sauce, fried eggs, avocado & sweet corn salsa, and manchego crisp. If there's one thing I don't like, it's when I'm left with the "vessel" of the dish and none of the good stuff; rice without curry, pasta without sauce, or a taco without filling. Fortunately, no issue here, because Ootong loaded up those two open tacos with the goods, and every bite was as enjoyable as the last.<br/><br/>Straight off the menu, the white maize porridge with cherry & apple compote and orange, chia & macadamia dukkah was a winner, so much so we ended up recreating it during the week! It wasn't overly sweet, and the dukkah gave a textural contrast against the smooth, thick consistency, which was very much reminiscent of the semolina porridge I'd had recently at Little Stove, though admittedly I'd probably rate it slightly lower.<br/><br/>Popularity is a curse, one that Ootong (among many other really good cafés in Perth!) has unfortunately fallen victim to: it's not always easy to get a table; it can get quite noisy; and it can take a while to get your food at times - we'd finished our first coffees and managed to sneak in another round before our food came out. But, is it still worth it? Yes! Providing you're willing to brave the lingering winter chill and manage to get a table out front away from the noise, that is...<br/><br/>Plenty more on the menu, so another round of Ootong & Lincoln lovin' won't be far away!

Very cute ambiance, love the hanging lights from the ceiling and home-y atmosphere. I had the pancakes which were a little bit different to your ordinary pancakes. These ones had a pleasant ginger nut biscuit, blueberries, choc chips inside the pancakes and what taste like frozen yoghurt on top. The combination worked perfectly and the pancakes themselves were so soft and fluffy. Definitely try out this place if your looking for a place to chill with yummy food.
TobyK
Waah! I wish I liked this funky place but alas, I got the poo end of the stick today! Getting seated and served feels sooo disorganised. Staff range from clueless to downright rude and standoffish, and my breakfast was laughable. Breakfast was cold and bland :(
LifestyleByLily
This cafe is situated on a street corner in South Fremantle. Ootong & Lincoln was choosen by a work college visiting from Melbourne who was staying close by the cafe. The cafe is not in the heart of Fremantle but already attracts many midweek lunch diners, who knows what will happen in the coming months/years.

My girlfriend and I stopped in Ootong & Lincoln for lunch after hearing good things from friends. I must stay the retro style was very cool, and the place had a great feel. I wasn't overly impressed with my pulled pork on brioche with sweet potato fries. My girlfriends zucchini noodle and prawn salad was actually a lot tastier. Good but not great- may give it a go for breakfast instead of lunch.

It has been a year or so since I last visited Ootong and Lincoln. A rainy Saturday, fairly early start at just after 7.30 am and the place was already quite busy. I think that says a lot. Stepping inside, I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something has changed in the interior. It is still very funky and large open space. They now have a coffee bar at the front, I don’t remember that being there either. Ordering is at the counter, and I had my usual long Mac topped up with the smoked pulled ham hock and poached eggs with toast. Service was efficient with coffee arriving quickly with strong beautiful coffee aromas. They do good coffees. Brekkie soon followed and looked inviting and wintery to keep the chill out. Flavours were good, a little subdued, but the egg was cooked to perfection. I could have used some pepper, but I see where they hide that. All in an all a good experience with excellent coffee.

I went here with the wife and kids (2) for a coffee and here's how it went.<br/><br/>This place is a friggin joke.<br/><br/>SERVICE: Damn rude. No manners from the staff at all. I walked up to the counter and the young Gen 'Whatever she was' says 'Yes mate'. When the order came to the table, it was all just put in a pile on the corner of our table and then the waiter just walked off. Pathetic. <br/><br/>PRICE: 2 x soy coffees, 1 slice of tiny cake and 1 x milkshake equals $25.50. Haha<br/><br/>PORTIONS: The coffee's are way below standard size, the cake size was about half and the milkshake was basically chocolate quick power and milk. <br/><br/>NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I COME HERE OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE
DM
Hubby and I went here for the first time last weekend and all in all it was a crappy experience. Bad service...we hung around waiting to be seated for ages, not an inviting environment and we just didn't enjoy the 'vibe' - we came to the conclusion we are just not hipster enough!! <br/>The food was so very average, the poached eggs were pretty much hard boiled and all in all very bland.
Williespants
This place is always busy! Great decor inside full of dated toys, furniture and decorations. Their coffee is amazing, not bitter, sour or too sweet - and you can feel the kick. Food wise ordered the Chorizo Omelette with Focaccia and the Potato Cake with Bacon. The Omelette was sooo good - full of flavour, sweetness from the capsicum, saltiness from the Chorizo and went really well with the focaccia. The potato cake was a bit dull - potato was a little dry and probably better with the mushroom rather than the bacon for some moisture in the dish. Overall, I think it's a place I'd like to come back to try again.
Mad Hatter
Came here for brunch ordered a apple juice which was freshly squeezed then and there. Not a long wait for food, even if it was i would have been happy to wait as the food was nothing but exceptional. The wait staff were lovely and efficient. Very chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Coffee was good could have been a little warmer but that is personnal preference I like a very hot coffee. Will be returning again.
Maria
Went here for the first time, had brunch on a busy Sunday. Aesthetically it looks like you have time travelled back to the 60s with all the furniture being retro. Coffee was great and the food came out within 10 minutes despite the busy atmosphere. The omelette was delicious. The potato cake with bacon and hollandaise poached eggs was delicious. Great service by the staff. Definitely recommended, I'll be back again.

We have been for breakfast and another time for lunch. The breakfast was delicious. My husband had the omelette. I loved my eggs with spinach and mushrooms. Lunch was yummy. I had the frittata with Asian salad. Yum! <br/>Just very noisy with kids sometimes.

Went here a few months ago but finally have the chance to leave a review. First of all I really liked the display of bicycles in the store, it made me feel like I was having morning tea before heading off to school! The avocado smash toast I had was the best avocado on bread I've ever had. The coffee - second to none. I was amazed at how many workers you had working on Sunday morning, it's now no surprise considering the quality of your food and the sheer amount of customers that come here for it. It's really hard to fault this place, 5/5 for me.
The Food Enthusiasts
Ootong and Lincoln is located in the niche area of South Fremantle which we were keen to explore due to all the social media buzz. They describe themselves as a quirky rustic eatery and they specialise in home cooked breakfast and lunch. Lychee Slushy ($8.50) & Green Smoothie ($9.50). The lychee slushy was a lovely addition to our meal, as it was super light and refreshing. It contained an interesting combination of lychee, watermelon and a hint of mint. However we feel that $8.50 is a little pricey for what it is.

We discover this place by driving by south Terrence ... Food is good and unique ... My husband love the blueberry pancake... Total unique ... recommend for lazy Sunday montuno chill out place

I really didn't like the experience at all so thankfully the food was good enough for a high score. <br/><br/>I guess with rating places it is mostly about the food but most importantly the experience is everything. When we arrived to this busy cafe, there was no list, you literally just stand around and if you see someone leave you quickly get the spot. Because there is no official line, people just push in front of you even if you've been waiting and waiting. <br/><br/>It was getting to the point where I wanted to leave and this can happen for a lot of other people who start getting impatient as well. It would be better if there was a better set up and more organised.<br/><br/>If at all, the people still enjoy coming to this cafe because the food is really good. I ordered the Bircher muesli which had the right amount of sweetness but too much yoghurt, any more and it would of been sickening. <br/><br/>Anthony Trovato ordered the omelette with grilled chorizo, grilled capsicum and machega cheese which he did enjoy, he said it was beautiful. Didn't come with the greatest amount of bread but it all depends on whether or not you like to have a lot of bread or not in the morning.<br/><br/>Roxanna ordered the quinoa soda loaf with poached eggs, roasted pumpkin and roasted tomato with Dukkah sprinkled on top. It had lots of flavour and very enjoyable.<br/><br/>Lastly the coffee. I have been to so many Cafes that have had terrible coffee and almost over wasting my money on getting a flat white to a latte but here made a beautiful coffee. Not as well as I'd like but the froth amount was perfect, the coffee was a little bitter but the taste died off after a few sips and the temperature was perfect. <br/><br/>All in all, it is a bit of a truck coming to this place. Although the food was good, I need that experience to match so unfortunately I won't be coming back unless I have no other choice.
Chantal
Delicious!!!! I had the lentil and sweet potato patty and kale salad. The patty was the best I have ever had in my life. My boyfriend had the steak sanga which he really enjoyed. Place was busy and food still came out within 10 minutes of ordering. We will be back!!!!!
Mary
There's always a great atmosphere here. Tasty food, great coffee and chai, and fast service. Never have to wait long. They have good vegetarian options.
Lou B
Both hubby & I didn't feel overly impressed. We came here based on high recommendations and it just didn't deliver what we were expecting. I had smushed avo with poached eggs. The eggs were hard and the bread crusts were almost impossible to eat due to being so hard, which made my brekky experience less than I'd hoped for. Hubby's poached eggs + bacon was fine but had better at other cafes in the area. Service was slow but this would be because they were so busy. We'll move on to try somewhere else instead next time.
Pravy
Came here for brunch. Ordered the Green smoothie, Blueberry and banoffee pancakes with caramel sauce and banana icecream, smoked salmon beetroot and haloumi with mochas. Service was fantastic. Interior was very interesting. Coffees and smoothie were amazing. The smoked salmon dish was ok and the pancakes overly sweet. Overall a great experience.

This is a fab place love the vibe and it's great coffee and the breakfasts are amazing I had their twist on my favorite eggs Benedict so delicious

Busy, Easy, and Yummy. Good choices for all there juices. Great coffee. Friendly service. There is lots to Love about this place, so do yourself a favour and go and visit them now.
Melimelo3
service is great. location south freo is good too. dog friendly cafe with a good menu and great breakfast dishes and a nice selection of drinks and smoothies. also has a nice fridge section with some cakes and salads and a separate coffee/drinks kiosk. cute interior and a very hustle bustle atmosphere making it a nice place to catch up with friends. a go to place.
Ruth Williams
Disappointed, hot and stuffy inside staff not very helpful.  food very average and coffee not hot or anything special.  moved off down the street for the second coffee. would not bother again.....nothing wonderful.
D Lee
Our choice for Aussie Day breakfast as they open nice and early. Service was very average. I was nearly knocked over by a lady carrying a tray of food and rather than apologising she was completely rude! One water jug for the entire restaurant to share, get your own water. Also cannot stand having to get your own cutlery when paying a lot of money for food. I had the salmon beetroot rosti, partner had scrambled eggs on toast. My dish was pretty good, different but a refreshing change on 'standard' breakfasts. Partner was really happy with his. My iced coffee was also good. Worth it for a decent feed, just don't expect to feel looked after.
Cam's Corner
Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning a couple weeks ago and we certainly weren't disappointed. The place was jam packed and quite a lot of noise however that didn't effect us. <br/><br/>We ordered the Ootong breakfast, potato cake with mushrooms, 2 x scrambled eggs with bacon and the grilled mushroom polenta. The food was to die for and very generous servings leaving everyone very satisfied. The coffees were great and banana smoothie also very nice. <br/><br/>You may have to wait a little while for a table if you rock up at a peak time however it is worth the wait. Service was great, fast and friendly. We will definitely be back to try out the lunch as the menu and salads in the front service counter look great!
J Smith
Good coffee and an array of offerings. Apart from the menu the variety of food in the display are good also. I like how they change their food often. Coming from someone who doesn't particularly care for salads, they are delicious here. Service I nice and casual. Vibe is laid back freo. Great breakfast spot.
ClydeyP
Came here for Breaky. Great atmosphere with the place buzzing and artsy decor. The food was great with the mushroom bruschetta as a Standout! The ootong breaky is a bit of same same but didn't disappoint either.

Everyone must try the mushroom bruschetta with poached eggs.... AH MAY ZING!! Coffee was delicious. Service was lovely. Has a real old school vibe to it. Parking pretty easy too! Do it.

Really busy on a Saturday morning, and it's understandable why people are never in a hurry to leave. My boyfriend was getting very impatient waiting for a table, but I'm so glad I convinced him to wait a little longer! The chocolate chai pancakes are heaven! Delicious coffee, too. Hope to go back soon

Really good spot and a bit pricey with good service. <br/>Had the potato cake ... Eggs Benedict with potato instead of bagel! Really tasty, a little too much spinach, but I can let the excessive green stuff slide!<br/>We had a brownie and the mushroom dish too ... Again good. <br/>Coffee was good ... So left as a happy camper.

I could live this life. Breakfast everyday at café I'd like to come back again... Ootong & Lincoln sounds different and their menu continues with the 'left field ' concept. <br/>I understand the marketing point of having a point of difference. But bottom line with any food outlet is good food first. Service second. Ambience third. <br/>I had the beetroot and haloumi rosti with poached eggs of course!! Coffee is good. <br/>I would like to come back to try other dishes!<br/>Very soon...

I went there a few times for breakfast but last time we had to leave because it was very noisy and loud. Coffee and raw cakes are good . ...

Went there for Sunday lunch after hearing all the reviews. Went away disappointed. My meal looked and tasted like it had been made for a while. The salad was not fresh. My husband did not enjoy his burger. The bread was not fresh. Shame.

Coffee is 5 stars! Great coffee just like their brother cafe Lenny the Ox. Has a great vibe and pet friendly. Food is good but could do with more vegan options.

1/11/2015 Sunday morning we tried this place for breakfast. It was very busy, all i can say was after placing orders for 6 people the food all came out together and in a timely manner as did the coffee and smoothies. The whole table enjoyed everything that was ordered, all in all good job

Nice spacious cafe on South Terrace. Price wise not too bad. The food was well cooked. Had a simple scrambled eggs on toast with avocado. Eggs were cooked to perfection and bread was lovely. However, ordered a hot chocolate and it was sickeningly sweet I couldn't drink even half of it. <br/>Would go back for the food and nice feel of the cafe, but I'd skip the drinks next time.

Very nice trendy cafe in Freo ! <br/><br/>The pancakes with chocolate and berries and poached eggs with smash Avo were awesome ! Coffee was good but a bit weak :)<br/><br/>

The competition of who can serve the most creative, yummy, and 'instagram' worthy pictures is fierce among brunch places in Perth. However, there are days when you crave for the simplest brekkie - eggs on toast. And I am glad I can always count on this place to serve me good eggs on toast! I love my eggs scrambled!

This place is amazing. So many things to choose from in terms of menu, drinks, stuff in the display cabinet, cakes... It's doggy friendly too although can get a little windy out the front. Very tasty food and cakes. It's a bit of a trek for me but I can't wait to get back.

My all time favorite breakfast. This place is amazing and I don't want to recommend it because I want it all to myself but I must because they are just awesome!!!

Funky venue. Reminds me of my Nanna and Nonno's old heritage listed house just down the road. A gorgeous venue in the heart of booming South Fremantle.

Ootong, you are great. Thank you for being consistently tasty, efficient and friendly. You are my local and go to when I cant remember where else I can go to for breakfast. The smashed avo is my favourite, well seasoned & tasty (note- the menu uploaded here is outdated). The coffee, the savoury muffins are delicious and the lunch options- salad, quiches and cakes look very appealing (I am yet to try). I like that you are spacious- always get a spot and outside is nice with lots of doggys saying hello!I will see you soon (hopefully with my future furry companion) and thankyou,x

It's probably a little superfluous to write a review about Ootong, like my neighbour's satellite dish (mate, you can watch wrestling on the Internet these days!), as most sand groping Colin Barnett detesting citizens agree - it's pretty bloody good. The food is well thought out - richness is always balanced with freshness, each morsel of protein paired with a date from the crispness family. <br/><br/>The only thing that can get annoying is the old bats that sit out the front and talk loudly about their little dogs. All " oh he is just wants to say hello!" as their silky terrier buries it's face into your pancakes. But you know, that's not Ootong's fault. These people are everywhere.

Had the chicken baguette, flat white and long mac. The baguette was yummy. The interior decor was unique and well-spaced. Staff pretty friendly.

Ah Oots, my favourite brekkie/brunch spot... :-) The coffees are much better now, not the best but up there. Fast service, amazing food and a great atmosphere. It can get crazy busy at times but we never have to wait long for a table. Most meals I've had were delicious (Smushed Avocado, yum!), a couple I won't order again. Typical Perth prices but after brekkie at Oots I can skip lunch.

A very busy weekend brunch spot! Menu was interesting, foods pre-made in the fridge looked delicious, and freshly baked goods smelled amazing! What impressed us the most was the kitchen managed the crowd pretty well...hot foods were pumped out without long wait despite the full house café! Very keen to go back and check out more of their dishes!

Great brekkie, delicious food with generous portions. Plenty of space, great option for a larger group, no problem rolling up without a booking. Sourdough bread with anything is great!

Living in Ellenbrook means that I don’t go to Fremantle very often these days; it’s not actually that far, it’s just that there are so many places closer to home that they usually end up moving in front of everything south. This Saturday I was spending the day in Fremantle doing some Barista training, so decided to head there early for breakfast (and of course dinner afterwards at Short Order Burger Company…) After tossing the destination-coin, I started my day at Ootong & Lincoln.

This place is funky and quirky with food to boot!! Fast service.<br/>Spinach and soda bread was amazing with poached eggs, pumpkin, peas and labnah.<br/>Bircher museli was a hit as was the salmon with beetroot.<br/>Coffees were decent. Not amazing but certainly good enough to go back for.<br/>Definitely worth a visit

Plenty of seats at 8am on a Saturday - great start!<br/>Ootong is funky and deceptively large. Staff are happy and friendly without being overbearing. Service this morning was out-of-this-world fast and spot on - everything ordered arrived at the same time.<br/>Coffee is really good and in the league of other uber-cool cafés such as Typika and Sayers.<br/>My poached eggs were soft-ish and definitely not as runny as I like them despite asking for soft yolks. Gluten-free toast from Abhi's on the same strip was heavenly. Avocado was fresh and green with no black bits; bacon came crispy just as ordered.<br/>The countertop and cake cabinets are so tempting here ... nice for a treat but it's all a tad bit overpriced to make this place a regular haunt for me.

Loved this place. So spacious with a little play area for little ones. Really easy to dine in with my baby. Foods are exceptional as well. Can't wait to go back there again!

Yum yum yum! Loved their mushroom dish, which I can't remember the name, but portion and quality was good. Hubby had the Thai pumpkin soup, which I didn't like so much because I thought the combination was weird. Disappointed that they didn't have de caffeinated coffee for me( being preggo) but oh well, no biggie.

We were really keen to try the food after all the good reviews and good things we've heard. Sad to say, we didn't really enjoy the food. We had the soft shell crab salad, lamb burger and beef cheek parpadelle. Overall, the food was a bit bland and some of the flavors didn't really work. The soft shell crab was a tad oily and soggy. <br/>Really nice, comfy decor. I'd go back for a coffee, maybe just not for meals again.

Came here with my friend for a brunch date. Everything we ordered was delicious, coffee was great and the food was presented nicely. It was really packed here on a Sunday so if that is a problem for you it might be more quiet during the week. The Cafe itself is really cool, has a nice atmosphere about it. Would definitely recommend it.

Great wall painting outside the shop. It can be very busy during weekend but it's quite spacious so you won't feel packed in there. However, the food might take a bit too long to be served.
