Breaks is not on the popular Cafe Strip but just around the corner in High Street. It's more of a local spot frequented by uni students. The excellent all day breakfast menu is very reasonably priced. It’s got a well loved, slightly worn, feeling about it as well as the legendary staircase to nowhere. Very good service, value for money for breakfast and lunch. Very good place to read a book or newspapers, make use of the fast wifi or meet for a chat. Lovely people working there too.

Cute little tucked away place that offers excellent dine in and take away services. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes were decent.
I ordered the breakfast bruschetta and a latte and (even in a busy period) they arrived quickly.
The latte was made very well, the balance of froth and coffee was near perfect and coffee was super smooth, usually I add 1 or 2 sugars to my coffee but this was so great I wouldn't want to alter it in any way.
The breakfast bruschetta was beautiful! The multi grain bread that was used was a nice alternative to the usual white bread I'm used to receiving. The mix of tomato, feta, pesto, onion and sun dried tomato left a fresh after taste which encouraged you to eat more. A full rasher of bacon was used and was cooked nicely. The poached egg, to me, was perfect having been cooked well and having a slightly runny yolk.
The only down fall was my mate had to wait 5-10 minutes after I received my food to receive his, however everyone makes mistakes and after being busy it is understandable that the front of house staff forgot. It was well handled by the ladies that were working and his food was good.
I would definitely dine here again when in Fremantle next.
I've come here at least once a week for the past few months and have never been left disappointed. Exceptional service and food has always come out quickly and tasted superb!
I have always enjoyed Breaks Cafe. Cool ambience especially when soft live music played. Excellent food and beverages. The Mightly Leaf teas are fantastic. ☺

Fantastic, found it by accident as was meant to go across road to Bankers, but they were closing at 1.30 even though sign said 4. There loss as i found this place.

Awesome place that seems frozen in time. Menu hasn’t changed in years and to be honest, it doesn’t need to. Large-ish menu that’ll pretty much cover any brunch craving. Had the chilli burger today and it was yums. Only downside is that on a stinking hot day, it can get really uncomfortable down the back close to the kitchen.

Revisited after the redecoration and now the décor is much nicer. More the new old freo than the old old freo, which means bright and cheery with a touch of old. They have opened the upstairs area so more room. The food is the same, solid and warming. Reasonable portions. The Three Egg omelette with Chorizo and onion is lovely. The coffee is a fine.
I have been to this place twice. I love the food and the wait staffs are really nice. But my only problem would be food wait time. Twice my food took quite sometime to come but the food would be worth the wait if u arent starving 😳
Honesly the type of place where when I'm in Freo I want to try somewhere new and cool, but I always just end up sectretly wanting to come back here, so I do! Super reliable and the staff are nice and genuine. I love the atmosphere on a sunday morning when they sometimes have a gentle band playing in the doorway. This place is also quite big so you can always find a seat and not feel cramped. A huge menu with all the usuals. The breakfast bruschetta is awesome.
Brunch with the misses, eggs benedict and beans on toast. Couldn't fault the food and the service was friendly and prompt. Will be back for one of their burgers for sure.

I have never tried brekkie at Breaks, but have been for coffee and cake, which was pleasant outside under the umbrellas. So thought I would give their brekkie a go. Service was at the table, and the friendly waitress took my order of long Mac topped up and an eggs benedict. I was surprised they were licensed, and because it was a Friday decided to order their Bloody Mary. Coffee arrived quickly and was good, and the eggs benedict weren’t too far behind. Loved their toasted bread; very nice and different to what I have tried elsewhere. Eggs poached perfectly and the sauce was good too. The Bloody Mary, well what can I say, it was delicious. Nice and spicy, just how I like them. It was the perfect way to start my day. Will definitely be back.
Awesome! Got Eggs Benny with Salmon. It was very basic, and fricken awesome. I think you call it Eggs Salmondict or something equally ridiculous and hipster. I felt semi-medi-quasi hipster while eating it. $15 and you're set for the day. Get amongst it! Continue to dominate. I hope the many over-chargers/under-deliverers of Perths hospitality scene all fall on their own own swords and cafes like your rise in their wake.
Such a cool little spot on High Street in Freo. Visited with a friend for breakfast a little while back and I was surprised they weren't busier. Good for us though as we had our pick of the tables. Sat outside on the street to watch the eclectic mix in Freo wander by and our coffees arrived quite soon after we'd ordered. YAYAY! It's counter service, but it gives you the chance to check out the cool interiors. Food didn't take too long to arrive. My eggs were poached very well and were extremely gooey just the way I like them. Nice flavours of the salad and smoked salmon and the dish was well balanced. I'll be back!
This place oozes cool! Don't let the dark, long sitting area put you off, there's great vibes here (and often live music too). This place has been an institution long before the other "funky" cafes sprung up in the area.
We were wondering around Fremantle trying to find some afternoon tea and stumbled upon Breaks. They had some pretty good desserts in the cabinet including raw desserts! The raw pistachio cheesecake was really good! Couldn't resist getting a burger as well!
Another great find in Fremantle! Great pricing for the quality of the food and the variety. This place literally has everything for everyone all the time. Awesome breakfasts and burgers, hardest decision is choosing what you want so I recommend going with someone you can share.
Service and food is always great when I come here. The staff are super accommodating when I've asked in the past to replace bacon with other items. I'd highly recommend the open breakfast burger! Yet to have a negative experience and I've been going here for a few years now. Keep up the great work guys!

The full vegetarian breakfast was tasty, with a variety of different things. The beans were not the generic canned beans which was a nice touch. Would come here again, but would be keen to try something different.
Have been several times for breakfast and have never been disappointed. Great coffee, freshly squeezed juices, quality ingredients, reasonable prices. Pancakes and the mushrooms are worth a look.
Went here with four friends - large order which came out pretty quickly considering the restaurant was busy. Good service, great food and coffee, with a vibrant atmosphere.

You guys offer a good selection of breakfast and lunch items. The quality of coffee is really good.. My fav is flat white with honey.. And best muffin in freo... big one and totally different flavours. Veg burger is totally delicious and big.. You'll definitely forget grilled or Nandoos... Highly recommended to visit and I'm sure you are going to visit again with your family and mates..

Without a doubt the finest breakfast place in Fremantle... Awesome food and best coffee & one of the best muffins you'll ever get.. Big one! Different and unique flavours muffins you'll ever get..! Friendly staff.. Good and energetic environment.. I like Veg burger from menu.. Way better then Grilled or Nandoos.. (No chance for hungry Jack's). Highly recommend to visit with your mates or family.. I'm sure you'll visit again

This afternoon, The American and I enjoyed a lazy, long lunch at Breaks Fremantle. We stumbled upon this cool cafe as we were strolling along High Street. What caught our eyes and ears was the incredible live band, playing at the front of the cafe. We glanced over the menu and couldn’t walk away! I personally will support any cafe that serves all-day breakfast as you know it is my favourite meal!
After much debate, I decided to try the Walnut and Blue cheese Salad with the addition of grilled chicken and ‘The American’ opted for the Chilli Beef Burger with a side of fries and salad. We enjoyed the band and the general banter of the cafe whilst we waited for our meals. To be honest, I had talked myself into not being disappointed when my meal was to come out. The salad was in the “Something Light” section of the menu and the addition of grilled chicken was only an extra $3, which made me think it was going to be small in portion size, considering it had walnuts and blue cheese which are not cheap items.
Veggie brekky was really tasty, huge portions and lovely seating area outside.
Enjoyed it alot!!. Really enjoyed it here, hadnt been before. The food was yummy and loved the live band :)

Quality food and value for money! Will definitely be back! However, one of the waitress asked us about 5 times in our first 5 minutes of being there if we wanted to order, if people have decided what they want they generally put the menu flat infront of them. Just a bit more reading body language cause I felt rude and uncomfortable saying we were still deciding so many times.

Awesome. I was a little weary regarding the menu which I had seen on Urbanspoon however after ordering the breakfast bruschetta (partner ordered vege breakfast) was 100% satisfied! Maybe a little to do with last nights "a few too many" but cannot complain, oh and the coffee was brilliant had to order another one
Great coffee and service the salmon salad is so fresh and tasty however the squid salad is heavily deep fried but overall great experience
Hit and miss. Definately one of my fave restaurants in freo for a good hearty breakfast! The food is great, coffee is always great, waitresses are friendly. Though if you arrive in a big group on a week day its seems you catch them off guard and the cook cant handle it.. a good 30 min wait, when its busy on the weekend much more prepared and the service is fast :) worth a visit for sure
We found Breaks Cafe on Monday morning, on our last day of our weekend in Fremantle, and were pleased with our discovery. This cafe has an extensive breakfast and lunch menu. After careful consideration I ordered the Breakfast Brushchetta and my wife ordered the Breaks Mushrooms on Toast, both were delivered promptly, looked, tasted and smelled fantastic. The truffle oil complimented the mushrooms and spinach perfectly and the hollandaise sauce on the Brushchetta was rich and silky. Two macchiatos were served just as we like them, and with a smile. Altogether a happy find, shame it was on our last day and not our first. Will certain return next time we are in Western Australia.

Such nice hole in the wall cafe. Food was amazing, one of the best iced mochas I've ever had in Perth and the juices are to die for. Staff are friendly and provide good service, our order arrived very quickly. Will definitely be returning here and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to dine somewhere off the main strip of Freo.

Burgers and milkshakes are always a match made in heaven but this place excels at both. The beef burgers are juicy and generous and delicious. Milkshakes are sweet and frothy.

The BEST veggie burgers in fremantle. I love the Flaming Greeny burger for its spicy hit and my girlfriend loves the Mediterranean veggie burger. Have not tasted better veggie burgers anywhere and I've tried a lot.
Can't fault bacon and icecream on the same plate!!. Had the Canadian French Toast. Was absolutely delicious! One of the best breakfasts I've ever had and cant wait to go back for seconds. Would HIGHLY recommend this little cafe.

We dragged the clan along on Sunday 28/07 to meet some friends. Great food, great coffee and all of it was reasonably priced. Staff were friendly even though the rude bastard next to us kept harassing them! We will definitely be going back with the kids..
First time to Breaks cafe today after walking past a hundred times before, awesome beef burgers (moo $12) and chili beef burger($14) and old school spearmint milkshake was tasty as ($4.50).
Enjoyable and delicious. My partner had the full breakfast with scramble ($20), I had the breaks beans on toast ($17) with a hash brown ($2). My meal came without the advertised crispy prosciutto, but the staff quickly rectified that without a problem. All was tasty, toast was huge (chunky) and crunchy. Long mac was good, if a little frothy. Will definitely visit again to try another delicious menu item.
Try the beans. If you're having breakfast, make sure to order a side of the beans. They're home made and tangy and the coffee is up with the best in freo
7/10. Some friends and i came here on a saturday morning. Full cooked breakfast was delicious Mushrooms, beans, eggs, tomato, bacon ect.. Would have liked more than one slice of toast considering it was $20. Was also denied consuming a foreign beverage (juice) which seemed excessive.
Fresh and Consistent. I come here quite frequently for breakfast and lunches. Meals are always very fresh and scrumptious & the coffee isn't bad either. Location is also great- usually try to get a spot on the tables outside for good people watching.
I enjoyed a lovely breakfast at this little out-of-the-way cafe in the West End. Perfect eggs served with avocado, spinach and truffle oil, lovely creamy latte and a sweet girl behind the counter.

Had I not read the positive reviews here on Urbanspoon I'd have by-passed the place. I didn't actually go inside, but the outside looks pretty non-descript, though it was nice to be able to sit outside on the pavement. The name Breaks reminds me of Break-free resort, or some sort of buffet type restaurant.
I had a vegetarian breakfast special. Pretty sure it was mushrooms and there was an egg and a very tasty salad. The toast was great, too. Servings were very substantial .
Lunch. My friend and I decided to catch up and since I dined here before, I had to go back here. the atmosphere was nice, it was air conditioned which was great because it was warm outside. however, my friend and I waited for at least 15 minutes till they asked us for our order which was a bit disappointing. but the food was great, I had pasta carbonara and I'd say that it's one of the best!
Super cool, relaxed place, nice retreat from the streets. Great coffee, awesome big menu made it hard to decide what to eat, landed on one of the burgers and it really hit the spot! Good tunes playing too:) Have found my new go-to cafe in Freo I think!
Very hard to find all day breakfast, especially one that does as good of a brekky as this place. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Very happy and helpful staff. My orange and ginger juice was fresh and hit the spot on a grey hungover day. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.
I am a fiend for a good cooked breakfast and try new places constantly, but always find myself coming back here for the big breakfast. It is perfect every time.

Wicked burgers. Very busy. Maybe needs more wait staff. Love the juices especially days like today when it's over 40C. Surprisingly a lot bigger than what I thought. Fresh food and good quality. Will be back for sure!!

Lovely breakfast. Sat breakfast/brunch (approx 10.30am).
Coffees (cap and iced coffee) were very good. Breakfast was delicious (eggs salmontine and the homemade beans on toast). The extensive menu made it hard to choose! For me the highlight was the yummy homemade baked beans- so tasty.
My only slight criticism was the wait, particularly for coffee- 20 min when ours was the only order is a bit slow.
We'll be back though, the burger menu looks amazing and, judging by the other reviews, worth a try :)
What a funky little place?! Reminds of a cafe in Melbourne. Great menu. Service was so down to earth and honest. Nothing pretentious about this place. Although I have to say it gets really busy and food takes a little longer than normal. But it is definitely worth the wait. I suppose that's why it takes time. Definitely recommend this place to anyone quite happily. Going to have to try out some of their breakfast.
Can't get enough of this place. I find myself here somehow almost three or four times a week. Addicted to breaks.
Breakfast Bruschetta yum!. I attend Uni nearby and Breaks is my favourite spot to have lunch now! The breakfast bruschetta is perfect, and I am a huge fan of bruschetta normally so this one has topped my list!
Drinks are a bit pricy for my liking.
Staff were excellent and I look forward to trying more things on the menu :)
