Review Pizza Bella Roma - Fremantle

Maria Grigorescu
Very good food and relatively quick service considering it was packed for lunch. A bit pricey but very generous portions. My beef tortellini with bacon were amazing, tortellini cooked to perfection and a creamy sauce. The pan fried veal with spaghetti bolognese as side dish were a great 2-in-1 meal which my husband devoured.

I had lunch here on WA day. The atmosphere was good, the staff were very friendly even though they were busy and true to Italian form the servings were very generous. I had the veal schnitzel with chips and mushroom sauce. Was tender and took me 30 minutes to finish it. I will definitely be returning for more.

I can count on one hand how many times in my life I’ve been impressed by a pizza… I usually leave them as a last option. We ordered the Mondo Veg today as an easy take away and oh my God, impressive. Even my meat-eater boyfriend is impressed. Tasty, crispy thin base, and the sundried tomatoes are delicious. And full of ingredients, no stingy chef here. I had already been a fan of Bella Roma for their aglio e olio pasta for years, now pizza approved too!

Food was fine but unfortunately very short staffed which we can appreciate but we had to ask to have our order taken as nobody came to the table and they forgot one of the drinks we ordered (only 2 of us). So can't give 5 stars but totally happy with the service we got based on them being stupid busy without enough staff.

Had Dinner here last night with 5 friend , meal was delicious and service fantastic , the young Lady that waited on our table was very attentive . It was a busy night there and we didn’t have to wait very long for the meals and they were steaming hot . I Had Tortellini which was yummy and all my friends were happy with theirs as well .

Went to Pizza Bella Roma last Sunday for lunch with a couple friends. All I can say say is I won't be going back there. I ordered a calamari and chips which was horrible and needless to say I couldn't eat it. If the restaurant can only prepare and serve cheap mass produced calimari cooked in what smelled like old oil then unfortunately this reflects poorly on them. I will avoid this place in future.

Chilli mussels heaven!!! They kindly catered to my dietary requirements and were so accommodating!

Had dinner here, we were with a large group and they made room, they set up the alley, great service - decent food. For just walking in with 15 people they did a fantastic job.

We ate on Saturday evening (14/10) with our three kids. We won't be back. Rude and uninterested staff and terrible food. We sent two meals back because the meat was slimy and smelt awful. The waitress agreed it was dodgy and took it back to the kitchen. We weren't charged for those two meals but no one apologised at any time. Very very disappointing meal and one we won't bother to repeat. Not saying sorry when unfinished meals are returned is poor service

Great food, really delicious and they have an extensive menu. The staff working behind the counter seemed lovely, always smiling - pity the same could not be said for our waiter. No smile or pleasantries, seemed like he just didn’t want to be there. Waited some time before we could even get a drink and even then we had to flag him down. Tried to ask for some water but he took off so fast after putting our wine glasses down that we didn’t get the chance. Dirty dishes sat in front of us for a while, while we waited to order a second drink (after having been there for two hours) - so we stacked them at the end of our table in the hope we’d get some service. It worked - but no offer of coffee etc, so we went somewhere else for that in the end. Shame, because we know a few people who go here fairly regularly who recommended it - and as I said, the food was great. I’d go again but only if we don’t get the same waiter! Watched his interactions with other diners and it was no different so it wasn’t a personal thing but he really needs an attitude adjustment or maybe get a job he enjoys.

27 yrs after I first had your pizza it's still amazing , crisp on the bottom , fluffy crust, quality ingredients and lovely ratios , amazing mouth feel , perfection

My partner and I ate here last night- The chicken penne pasta was the best pasta dish I've had in a looong time and the staff were super friendly! Would definitely recommend to everyone! Make sure you book beforehand as they get super busy!
Vanessa Squires
Even though the steak my partner ordered wasn’t very good the rest of the food was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they took $20 off my partners meal as he couldn’t eat it.

3 of the 4 meals were delicious as usual. However my calamari may as well have come straight from a box at the bottom of the freezer. It was bland and very chewy and not good at all. Bit disappointing.

My friends and I would like commend all of your workers and you on putting in so much effort, determined and worked extremely hard to make this easter long weekend run very smoothly .Also , my friends and I were very pleased with the food and service. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely decor great ambiance and a wide selection of meal choices from all types. Pizza Pasta and Meat dishes. Ribs were delicious as was the pasta. Watched the pizzas being made and they had generous helpings of toppings. All the prices were average for the town and the service was very friendly. Definitely recommend it.

An old good pizza shop ran down by backpackers working and poor pizza

Lunch on a Saturday ... Service was ok cleaned a table outside for us. Ordered a large Bella Roma pizza to share. Pizza came in a timely fassion. Pizza was fairly bland for the toppings that were on it, would of expected more flavor for the price. Would I eat there again, maybe but with all the other choices around there I would proberly try some where else first.
Gary Morgan
Disappointing!!! Having been many times of the years Saturday night was the worst. Over cooked veal and calamari. Both meals left mostly on the plate. Half price was taken off the meals which was better than nothing!!
Bruno Russo
Great place to hang out on a Sunday for lunch. Impressive quality and range of food on offer. The chill mussels are worth a try.
Jason Horne
We had a table of 4 with everyone very happy with there meals with large portions and a great friendly waitress!! Wouldn't hesitate two go again!!
Marie Eve Sauvage
Lovely staff, the manager tonight was very good. Loved the pizza! We will be back!

It was the aroma as we walked past that drew us to the place .. we had the Bella Roma pizza and garlic bread, we gobbled it up quickly .
Anita Young
Had a lovely meal. Friendly staff food was great.

Best pizza and our favourite pizza place to eat since high school (1990). Why the low rating? Since our daughter was diagnosed with Coeliacs (2010) we've occasionally dropped in while in Fremantle to ask whether they have anything Gluten Free. They have NOTHING every time. After 9 years and the prevalence of Coeliacs even just one or two gluten free menu items is absolutely not too much to ask in 2019. So we don't eat there any more as a family because we can't . Fair enough if they keep choosing to not serve anything GF I guess, but you've lost all my business (and I used to eat there quite a bit) and you haven't moved with the times. 1/5. Get with the program.

Would not recommend. I had to an investigation in Italian class about Italian restaurants in Perth and there was NOTHING useful on their website. Disgusting.

Very disappointing. We ordered carbonara which was basic with a packet herb in the sauce instead of fresh parsley. My partner ordered the veal parmigiana which seemed not only frozen but microwaved. The crumb was soggy and the meat was tough and dark like an old boot. He got spaghetti as a side and the sauce was straight out of a packet tasted like it was tinned spam. After one bite he was done and made a toast at home. Service was bland, no friendly welcome or smiling waiters we were pointed in the direction of the specials board as the waiter walked off which in my opinion was unprofessional. This was once a place I came to often when growing up it’s sad to see that non Italian restaurants such as pubs can make far better pizza/pasta/parmigiana’s than an actual Italian restaurant. If your business is failing perhaps look at the food you serve. We asked the chef at the front regarding if the sauce was made in-house and his embarrassed expression said it all. Location isn’t everything! I’d happily sit in the dingiest restaurant for good food and it’s not like Pizza Bella Roma has ever been renovated! So put the money into the food! We paid $70 and went home hungry.

The absolute worst pizza I can honestly say iv tasted. We ordered the vegetarian
Bases tasted frozen way over cooked to the point you couldn’t even cut with a knife Iv actually had better pizza from my local super market out of a box! Tasteless over priced for what they are and Ingredients far from fresh
Take my word and By pass this place!

Best pizzas and mussels! A lot of Italian restaurants but this place is my favourite with delicious food. hopefully my family and I can visit soon

Our family really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. I had the chicken parmigiana and my wife had a pasta dish. Both meals had good portion sizes and were very tasty. The hawaiian pizza was excellent. Service was good.
Stephanie Harris
Sorely disappointed! So sad to see a Freo icon let itself go. The service, real ordinary. Food..... I'd be very surprised anything in that kitchen is made from scratch with real, fresh produce. Processed, packaged - shame on you for charging at this price point. If you need to cut costs, don't do it on your core product... it shows on the plate! Should have driven further down the terrace to Rocco's!
Food, Booze, No BS
Honestly not the most amazing pizza I’ve ever had in saying this they do traditional pizza really well! Their bases were light and crispy and tasted nice. Great range of pizza and pasta! It seemed the mussels there are a huge hit as they were coming out of that kitchen like hot cakes.

The restaurant itself was well set out, clean and comfortable. Nothing flash but the food was decent. Service was here and there, some waiters were not very attentive/overwhelmed by how busy it was and only one we encountered was amazing very helpful and noticed we were needing assistance. Finding the toilet was a bit of a maze though and I’d only had one drink.

Not for the gluten free no lactose types as these are cheesy and full of carbs! The cheesy garlic bread was the highlight for sure!
C
This place is not as busy and good as it use to be, which is a shame! The spicy chilli mussels were nice and had a good level of spice. The garlic bread was tasty, but was not buttered on both sides. The pizzas were quite average.

Couldn't finish my meal
Spaghetti Carbonara was plain terrible.
Garlic bread ....on one side only...dry and unappetizing
Pizza ...I'm not sure what the reviews are about - one of the worst I've been served.
Went next door and reordered the Carbonara.....

Pizza Bella Roma is a Fremantle institution; I still recall coming here with my family, as a kid, for Sunday lunch with our grandparents. But as I grew older I stopped going; grabbing bites are more 'trendy' cafes in Fremantle area but this weekend my sister and I took a trip of nostalgia and returned. The smell of the kitchen alone brought back good memories.

We managed to score a table inside - it was pretty miserable weather outside but they do have large heaters for the brave. We ordered the Pizza special - chilli and meatballs, a small did us (with leftovers). The crust was delicious and crunchy on the edges. It had enough topping without being too much and was packed with flavour.

We followed this with a tortellini carbonara and chilli mussels. Both of which were flavourful and decent portion sizes.

The only downside of this visit was; we had a long wait time between our dishes coming out. However, once brought to the attention of a staff member the issue was solved in under three minutes, with many apologies and extra bread and a round of drinks for the table.

We'll be back for that trip down memory lane.

Maybe the best Spaghetti Carbonara I have had!
If I'm in Freo and in the mood for some good Italian I can't go past Pizza Bella Roma! It's not fine dining but super casual just how I like it. Everything is always prepared well and priced reasonably, the staff are fantastic and not obtrusive.
The Spag Carbonara is to die for, be sure to order some bread to dip into the sauce! (Trust me!!)
If I had to pick I guess the restaurant could use some modernisation, at the same time I hope It never changes. Will always return.

OK but not outstanding. The pizzas on the raised trays do look impressive but I'm always surprised by the queue to dine here. Each to their own?

The food was fine. We couldn't fault it really, typical good Italian food. What was horrible was the service. We came from Melbourne and our cousins brought us here for dinner last night, we were a group of 6. Firstly the main waitress was very rude, not the younger woman who served us - she was lovely. It started off with little things that went wrong which didn't phase us, such as forgetting the 6th plate, not bringing out water and having to ask twice, meals coming out separately and then finally my cousin ordered a second beer which didn't appear. The straw that broke the camel's back was the horrible attitude of the waitress. We were gracious throughout all these small errors, until it came time to split the bill and she didn't want to do it even after all the things that she knew went wrong along the way. She was rude and was not accepting or apologetic of any of her mistakes and blamed everyone else, the lack of wait staff, the kitchen and pizza oven guys don't communicate, etc etc. Please. Don't bother coming here, there are many other places in Freo with better service.
Genelle
Very disappointing, I won't be coming back. The pizza had ridiculous amounts of cheese, we had to scrape it off and the bacon wasn't even bacon.... it was slathers of pure bacon fat!

Came here late on a Sunday night with cravings for pasta and chilli. We ordered the big family size of mussels because usually when you see 1-1.5kilos it's all shell and tiny little buds of mussel meat and also you smirk as you know you are an eating goddess machine just in case they do really mean 1.5kg (I was also wearing a dress big enough to fit two people so I felt the urge to fill it). My partner ordered the salmon pasta as he was craving pasta big time. The pasta was cooked perfectly and there was a lot of salmon. Bit heavy on the dill. We asked for the chilli mussels to be as hot as they can make it alas it wasn't very hot. We added extra chilli flakes to up the ante. Serving sizes were huge and after getting this, some drinks, bread and chips (like i said - eating machine) it came to about $40pp. Not bad for Freo. Service was great and we will definitely be coming back to try more off the menu.

I grew up going to Pizza Bellaroma and always loved it. However it's gone down in my books, the food didn't have a lot of flavour and one of the waiters was rolling a cigarette in full sight of the restaurant at the counter, and then pausing to serve food and drinks (without washing his hands). That is disgusting and is not up to HACCP standards! Won't be returning!!
Lover For Food
Came here with my fiancé for dinner, and although the food was lovely and one staff member was nice, the rest were so rude and we did not feel invited. While eating our pizza, a young man asked if we wanted the rest takeaway while taking the pizza away!!! The next day, we went to eat our leftovers, to find only two slices left, when I vividly remember leaving 5!!! This boy gave us a weird vibe and took our pizza!! So disappointed in this place.

Delicious pizza and pasta, awesome service and a Great vibe in the place. We had the Bella Roma pizza and the carbonara, both were banging thanks for having us.

Always love coming to Pizza Bella Roma for outstanding service and delicious authentic Italian food. Definitely the best Italian restajrant in Fremantle and would highly recommend the spaghetti marinara and Tortellini.

Very yummy
The plates are so big that I take them home and eat it all up.
I like it so so much
I really like the drinks because there tasty
The people there were very good

Proven time and time again

The best restaurant in Fremantle.

I've been going here for more than 10 years and visit lots of restaurants in Freemantle and always make my way back to pizza Bella Roma

Tortellini carbonara is amazing, the pizzas are to die for and their squid is the best around.

yes it gets busy at times but that just proves what a good restaurant that is, if you haven't been to this place make sure that you go whilst in Fremantle

This isn't as good as it used to be. Good menu choices. We had to wait for ages for our food and it didn't all come at once so we all ate at different times. The wait staff were friendly and attentive though. Food was good Italian but nothing outstanding.
Manal Wish
The service is friendly enough although wait staff seemed rushed (one of them spoke to me as she walked away to serve another table...rather awkward) despite it not being crazy busy. The food is average- but this is only based on having two pizzas (the cheese, sundried tomato pizza and the Hawaiian)- the pizza base seemed too thick and doughy for my liking and the cheese is just overloaded, taking away much of the flavour of any other toppings. Overall, we got an average pizza, with ok service, and didn't have to wait very long or pay very much!

First time back for years and an old customer. Very disappointing. The salmon pasta tasted off and the special of the day, paella, was lacking in flavour. The pizza crust was good - light and firm - but the filling nothing to write home about. To top it off - had tummy troubles after and I have a cast iron stomach.

This is the first time in years that I have felt so taken advantage of at a restaurant. We went in with memories of a great pizza from long ago...I but it has changed and not positively.
We ordered the calamari entree which was a surprisingly large serve. It was tasty. That's my last positive...
We ordered 2 pizzas both were less than ordinary. Base wasn't great toppings were not plentiful. My biggest disappointment was the pizza with chorizo, feta and salad leaves (we had it years ago it was amazing- it was a salad in top of great pizza). Now same pizza but it's made differently you get a pizza base with cooked/wilted salad leaves and plenty of cooked chorizo plonked in top it tasted horrible!
Then came bill shock I never looked at prices prior to ordering...but in the mid $30's I expect better!
We will not be back.

Three of us were in search of some Italian food, and you don't need to look far on the South Tce strip in Freo to find it. Pizza Bella Roma was busy and looked like a good option, although the old-fashioned decor leaves a lot to be desired. I don't remember it changing from when I last visited here years ago.
It always seems to be busy here in the evenings though, unlike many other places on South Tce, with lots of families dining in. I guess the daggy decor doesn't matter to the loyal customers.
I like that you can choose the size of your pizza or chilli mussels. We ordered a large vegetarian pizza and a medium chilli mussels to share, and the portions were generous.

The pizza was disappointingly replete with fresh tomato. I hate it when places top pizzas with chopped tomato; it's a tasteless waste of precious topping and doesn't enhance the flavour at all, plus it tends to make the topping watery. There were only a skinful of olives and (extra) anchovies we asked for, and the base didn't knock our socks off either. I've had many better pizzas elsewhere.
The chilli mussels came as an enormous serve, with a tomatoey, spicy sauce. We spooned the sauce on our pizza slices to give it more flavour, and that made it much more palatable.
Wine by the glass was cheap by Perth standards, and baskets of bread are complimentary. Service was friendly, and we didn't have to wait long for food.

Overall this was a cheap ($20 a head) and OK dining experience, but I wouldn't rush back. It's not a place where you want to linger as the ambience is non-existent, but perhaps locals and families going out for dinner with kids want something cheap and quick, and aren't bothered by the lack of charm.

I ordered a Seafood Platter tonight (Thursday 24th March). It was probably the worst meal I have had for some time: terribly overcooked - prawns tasteless and rubbery, fish like cardboard, and the calamari so overcooked it was inedible. We also asked for a refill of wine - which didn't appear. We could see it poured on the counter, but no-one brought it to us - until we were ready to leave. We sent it back, of course. The other two meals we had were okay - but not special. We won't be back. And with the number of good restaurants in Fremantle, why bother with Pizza Bella Roma?

Some people are a bit precious around here. Went there last night and have been going there for over 20 years, never a bad meal. It is what it is and doesn't pretend to be anything different. Relatively simple, but great food accompanying friendly service.

If you want fine dining with peace and quiet then go somewhere else.

Still the best restaurant in Freo.
Stel
Couldn't believe what i was eating...The frozen pizza at woolies was nicer than this
Although i am really glad they used fresh seafood on our pizza, otherwise it would have been a disaster. Thumbs up for the fresh toppings, I can't say the same for their dough.
Marija
Have been coming to Bella Roma since I first came to Australia, never had a bad meal. However recently dined and ordered a pizza and it came out burnt, so we asked for a replacement and it came out a little bit on the burnt side, again... Never mind that though, I'll stay away from the pizzas as all the other meals are still delicious.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Basically fast food and ridiculous prices. I do like the pizza but that is about it. Haven't been in a while and it may have changed but looking at the overall score right now it might be time for Bella Roma to pack up.
Dpizzy
Always one of my favourite Italian places in Perth. Good portions good taste and good value for money. The only thing on the menu that needs improving is the garlic prawns.
Facebook User
Was quite disappointed with our overall experience. The worst of it was our meals were brought out at different times. My wife had almost finished her pizza before my mains had even come out. No communication in the kitchen whatsoever. Then on top of that the waitress serving us was rather annoying. Pizza was average but the ribs were alright

I was very satisfied overall the last time I dined at Pizza Bella Roma. Their staff are friendly and welcome you at the door. Their service was quick and efficient. Food was above average and very tasty. They have a good wine list. There are gas heaters to keep you warm if you're sitting outside at night or in winter time. They noticed our table was unbalanced and wedged it level all of their own accord. They also brought a bowl of water out for my friends dog. I was quite impressed and had a good night.

Really not a fan of this restaurant. Everyone is crammed in, the decor is old and the place is dirty! The pizzas are thicky, stodgy, gooey and over loaded with cheese.

Great family restaurant in the heart of Fremantle ! Best pizza in Fremantle & hearty , home style pastas
Delicious sauces guaranteed to please !
Kelly Masel
Absolutely disgraceful! Service was shit, food was shit and table was wonky and so was chairs, had to fix the chair ourseves by using a napkin! Garlic bread was not good at all and had to wait for water for a long time and ask for it!!! and then the waiter didn't even pour it for us. And then to top it al off the wall near our was all dirty and scratched as well as the floors and whole feel of the restaurant was not good! It was such a mistake! Was not impressed and would recommend to not go!!!

Great place. the service and the food were fantastic. It´s not easy to find good italian food (good pizza for me) So I liked this place, People are so nice too, we´ll definetly be back!

If you are after fine dining ala Heston, or a spot of Korean marinade and micro herbs on your marinara, go somewhere else. If you feel like a generous bowl of creamy pasta ala Grandma, a massive pizza, massive chips, a generous salad to share, and friendly, unpretentious staff, drop by Bella Roma. Ignore the reviews and give it a go; the rating on here is unreasonably harsh.

2 for dinner. We had come here a couple of times already. we share a bruscheta (very good), then my girlfriend had a creamy pasta chicken and me a calabrese pasta. they were both perfect, also the service was very good, they were busy but the waiter came to check on us a couple of times. overall very nice experience!
Lesleyfarrell
Not a great dining experience. We went there to celebrate a birthday with 14 people. Although the food was nice, two of our meals did not make the order and consequently did not reach two of our group until after we had all finished our meals.
The waiter did apologise but when we went to pay our bill, they did not even take off the corkage or perhaps at least one of the two meals that were served extremely late. This spoilt my dining experience and will consider whether to return or not.
Who For Food
Great seat next to the street front windows, ordinary food. This place is something of an institution, and although quality has slowly gone downhill in recent years, a table next to the huge open windows facing the street on a warm day is one of the simple pleasures in life for people watchers. Standard fare pizzas and pastas, nothing to get excited about, but it's still a great spot to catch up with friends.

Still Pretty Good!. My wife and I ate at Belle Roma yesterday and it was busy. We hadn't been there in a couple of years but used to frequent the place regularly when we lived near Freo. We have had some bad mussels there in the past (which I ate and did not complain about) but have always been happy with the quality and the price of every other thing we have purchased there. Yesterday we had the pasta specials which were just variations on spaghetti carbonara; one was chicken, pesto and mushrooms and the other chicken, bacon and mushrooms both in cream sauces. They were generous serves and tasted great -- very fresh and perfectly cooked. We also ordered the garden salad to share which is still a nice size and top notch. The place is nothing fancy to look at, having a casual family vibe and cruise-y eclectic staff which suits me. Being a former chef I dislike all of the snobbery of formal dining experiences and over-zealous waitstaff hovering around me. I prefer to feast on modestly priced, honest food at a location for regular people who just want a meal and not some culinary journey/transcendental experience.
Mollie
98% sure our waiter was stoned! As a result poor customer service will not be returning for those prices.
Chickad90
Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. Worst pizza ive ever had. And paid good money for them too. I can make them better myself at home. We took a guy there who just came over from america as his first pizza experience in Australia and was the worst choice ever. Very poor.
Minhtjle
Pleasant experience. Not too sure why the previous reviews are so harsh. had lunch here with my girlfriend and it was not near as bad as people have said. Waitstaff weren't overly nice but they weren't rude by any means.

Food was good. We ordered chilli mussels and a side of chips. No complaints and pricing was about right.

Thumbs down!. I attempted to write this meesage, direct to Pizza Bella Roma...but an "error" on their system came up, not allowing me to send the message.

I attended your restaurant last night with my family, for my sister's Birthday. I phoned the night before (06/01) to make a reservation. I was told by a lady that no reservations are taken for after 6pm. I found this to be odd, as it is around dinner time. When we got there, a lady greeted us with such attitude, that was not welcoming at all. She sat us at a small table, squashed in amongest other dinners. I requested that we be moved to the back section...which was completely empty at the time. My request was met, by a helpful gentleman. We ordered drinks, in which took over 20 minutes to receive. A few dishes were ordered, along with two pizzas. Everyone's dish came out, expect the pizzas! The pizza's finally came out after everyone's meals had been finished. I don't understand how it took more time to cook a pizza, than it did a chicken parmigiana or beef! The girl who greeted us, walked around the restaurant with such attitude the whole time, very unapproachable. I have read reviews for your restaurant, and most, if not all...state the bad customer service. I would have to agree on that one. All in all, a disappointing experience, which lead to a disappointing birthday.

Nothing more than food. You arrive to an almost empty restaurant... so they call themselves.

You look at a menu for 10 minutes before even a drink order and they want the whole lot. gee.. no time to relax here.

with only a few tables the staff (plenty around) are rushing. god forbid this place fills.

Another 10 minutes later my beer arrives... in a bottle. how long does it take to deliver a single beer bottle? apparently 10 minutes.

the place begins to fill and service doesn't become manic... they actually recover. what the?

food here though is great. loved the meal but serving prawns with tail on and giving me only a spoon with fettuccine... mistake. Definitely need a knife.

place is great if food is your only priority. children everywhere and yet so many tables you cannot move. even as I write this I see staff eyeing me off to move for another victim.

Price for food... average to expensive all because no service or atmosphere to match.

I wish we had read reviews before we went! What a disgrace!!. We live very close to Fremantle and go in daily, today we were there for the Blessing of the Fleet, there was a group of us and rather than go to our usual places we decided to go to Pizza Bella Roma to relive the good old days! Well a lot has certainly changed. I have never experienced such rude disgusting service in Fremantle ever! And even when the waiter was told to apologise he still had an extremely bad attitude and this man was no youngster - he should definitely know better. The tables surrounding us all nodded in agreeance. Our pizzas were burnt, the spaghetti marinara was a watery mess and unedible. It was the worst ever meal but mostly due to the disgraceful rude service. The Manager did try to rectifie the disaster and for that I am grateful but I don't think he realised how rude our waiter was.
We have all grown up in Fremantle and remember the ques down the street waiting up to an hour or more to get into Pizza Bell because it was an iconic Freo tradition. Now I know why there is never any ques anymore, and why it was the only restaurant in Fremantle that wasn't fully booked!
It's really sad actually! We won't be returning anytime soon if ever! Hopefully management will take this on board and make appropriate changes for the better.

The Worst Restaurant Pizza I've Ever Eaten, Stay Away!. We went to this place as it's always packed and I was told by someone that it was good,. how wrong they were! I can categorically say that that is the worst pizza that I have ever had the displeasure of eating at a restaurant. It was unbelievably bad! In fact it was so bad that I'm not lying when I say that you would have been better off getting a frozen pizza from the supermarket. The pizza base was soggy and the pizza had no cheese on it, I kid you not, no cheese! It was just a stodgy mess of a bland tomato sauce and some cheap ingredients which were clearly not good quality. We couldn't eat it, it was disgusting. When I went to the bathroom I looked at the other pizzas on the tables and they looked the same, no cheese! We also had gnocci which was stodgy and clearly not freshly made for this service.

The staff were very slow, we were left waiting at our table for ages when we sat down. When they arrived they were completely disinterested.

All in all, this is one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had and not cheap at that. Do yourself a favour and stay away or order a delivery pizza. This place is dreadful!
Lucy Griffin
Overpriced ready meals. Oh dear, rather disappointing when in such a prime location along the
Freo strip. My other half and I had a main meal each of spaghetti carbonara and a stuffed chicken meal. My chicken came with a choice of sides in which I chose the chips. I was expecting some fresh home cooked chucky chips but instead I got over cooked fries which obviously came out of a frozen bag in the supermarket! The chicken was also over cooked. The carbonara was also very disappointing and could only be described as a ready meal with low quality spaghetti. For $56 for the 2 meals this was very disappointing. More freshness and cooking is done over the road at hungry jacks for a fraction of the price.

Never Let's Me Down. Being right on the night club strip of freo this place is often overlooked for how good it is! Their food and service is excellent and the Prices vs. Quality/Quantity fair. I love pizza and they serve it well! Obviously it is a noisy area but good atmosphere!

Terrible value for money with rude service.. Where do I begin with the disappointment? I was lured by noticing how this place is able to pull a large crowd. However having been to this establishment I feel rather sorry for the punters who frequent this business because there are much better restaurants around town which specialise in 'Pizza and Pasta'. The pizza dough wasn't cooked through properly, and I have never seen champignon mushrooms on an Italian Pizza before( button mushrooms would have served this pizza with much more justice). As for the pasta dish I have never seen a Spaghetti Marinara so scantily laden with seafood in my life. Upon paying the bill the manager asked the usual 'how was your meal'? line, to which I replied with my honest feedback. The look she gave me was like I had just committed genocide, and she rudely placed the change of my overpriced meal in my hand. I don't think she really cared that my wife and I waited for almost an hour for a pizza and pasta dish.
I wish I had of gone to Dominos that night, at least I would've received kind service and better value for money. I also wish I had of taken credence in the reviews given by others on this website before going.

20 years ago this place had the best pizza in Fremantle if not all of Perth but now it is just rubbish. If you like paying big big bucks for a dry tasteless cardboard like pizza with minimal cheap toppings then this is the place for you. A $5 domino's pizza would crap all over these loosers. Needless to say I will never return especially with so many other options nearby.

All down hill !!!. This used to be the best place for a pizza in freo...well not anymore all down hill, poor service, staff and really, you can get so much better in freo... Sorry to say will give you guys a miss...go back to the good old days with service and food..

Worst ever restaurant STAY AWAY. In all my travels in all my years in all my dining out I've never had such a bad experience that I had at this place.

Prawns were off
Chicken Parma was like a supermarket frozen cut that was like rubber a good sign that it had been reused and old.

The cocky Scottish manager was so rude and took no responsibility for the food that was dished out instead he wanted to argue the point.

Don't expect a good Italian meal here stay away expensive reheated old food with complete rudeness a shame as this was a wonderful place many years ago

First time I have ever written a review: my wife notice the staff filling up half empty water bottles of water from other tables and then serving them back up. I convinced her to say something and the waiter was oh well that's just what happens when it's busy. What else happens when it's just busy? Not coming back here.

Not worth the expense. On the 16/04/2014 my friend suggested we go to Pizza Bella Roma for dinner. We had garlic bread to share for starters which lacked the taste of garlic. I ordered Scallopini con fungi which was very disappointing. There was plenty on the plate but the veal was very tough and smothered in mushroom sauce that had a taste of gravox or booster in it. The side of vegetables was the best part. My friend ordered Canalloni which was not that great and very little of it eaten because it was very average. Come on, how can you call this Italian food. It was an expensive meal with very little satisfaction. No I will not recommend your restaurant and will not return.

Really disappointed. My wife and I ordered a family size gamberi pizza. Waitress suggested we get a large because we wouldn't be able to take home unbeaten pizza with seafood. We said we were really hungry and would easily eat a family size. Well, she decided to give us a large anyway, and we were still hungry when we finished ( she even admitted changing our order). The spaghetti and meatballs was way too spicy for our 12 year old son - no mention of chilli on the menu. Service all came without a smile. $111 for an unsatisfying experience. Really don't like being second guessed - very presumptuous.

Dissapointing. We started with the wonkiest table even after three attempts to fix it with napkins the waiter though he mite help after standing watching us for a few minutes. Started with Chilli mussels which were great and a huge portion size for a small. We ran out of napkins as we were not given a finger bowl ( and the table incident ) which was messy to say the least. We both ordered pasta for mains which was...... edible very little flavour and neither of us were bothered to finish. Table next to us was being attacked by a big family of seagulls as it was left full of plates for the length we were there with no one coming to clean it... Very little care factor apart from the Girl serving inside at the till who was very friendly. Definitely will not go back, far better places to eat in Freo.

First of all the service was quick for a buisy restraunt. my marinara was nice besides the fish was frozen and chewy, sauce was nice not too oily and spagehetti was cooked too perfection. overall i would give this place a 7/10.

Good for Freo. Thought we had a good meal here, prices are low compared to the rest of Freo,
Had the Calamari dish between the two of us,at $26 it was huge ,would have fed 4 people, and was nicely done ,so I must be missing something ,all these whingers, perhaps they can mention where the better eating inFreo is ,which I notice none of them do.
JimBob

Visited this restaurant tonight while walking past in Freo. It was house full with people waiting for a table. We waited for 5 min and got a table. The service was good. The food and ambience was good too. Prices were Freo prices as anyone would expect. Had the chicken Diana $28 nicely grilled free range chicken breast with garden salad. The ladies had a Mondo veg large pizza $30 which was delicious with sumptuous toppings.
Pros: decent food with quick & friendly service.
Cons: No desserts menu! Overall slightly expensive but every restaurant in Freo is a rip off.
Don't really understand why this restaurant has only 51% likes and so many bad reviews here! Thankfully I didn't check urbanspoon before entering else we wouldn't have experienced the good service!
Will visit again in near future.

Called in tonight to try it. My companion was certain that the place had gone down hill over the last couple of years - but what the heck. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Service was good from start to end.
We shared a pizza that was tasty and enjoyed.
Only gripe would be the paper napkins tucked away in a container on the table with the cutlery - more of better quality would be appreciated.
All in all ( considering some of the other reviews :-) ) not bad.

Karma - what goes around comes around - every wonder why there is only a 55% approval rating??
You people are rude and serve lousy food. Are you sure you are Itallian? Rude I understand as it is in the Italian culture after all but lousy food...how can you screw up peasant food?
My 2 visits there have always left me with a bad taste in my mouth..not just from the food but from the rude and poorly trained waiters
Usually, the owners set the tone and standards for the place...better sell out and go into grave digging or something guys

Luca Brasi. Perhaps the worst Italian style restaurant in the world.

sure that seems excessive but honestly, how the hell do you screw up spaghetti?

It seemed busy and the menu was appealing, but almost immediately things went south. Our service was initially unhelpful and abrupt, with even the smallest request being met with annoyance and attempts to delay or put us off our requests.

No napkins on the table, which with sauce based food is basically a no brainer, instead you were left to find them stuffed into the cutlery bucket, seemingly not unused. The menu did not accurately portray what was in the items, with added feta and mixtures appearing, seemingly at random and all tasting as if they had been waiting a very long time to be used.

It took almost 45 mins for our 2 dishes to arrive and when they did, they were either luke warm at best or in the case of the chicken, tough as old boots. The pasta sauce was runny and tasteless and only watered down any remaining flavour the dish once possessed.

Finally to add insult to probable injury (kitchen or staff did not appear too clean either) they closed mid way through the afternoon and refused to sell any more drinks despite being still open for business. Couldnt' even drown the misery out.

If a true Italian ever dined at this establishment, the result would be a scene from The God Father, although he would probably find all the horse heads he needed near by in the kitchen.

Will never see the inside of his venue again and for that, I am graetful.

Worst dining experience. Went here the other night with the wife and like many others we were also lured in by how busy it was and the look of the food on diners tables. But how WRONG were we to expect a good feed. We ordered pizza, spaghetti marinara and a creamy seafood pasta as mains. The pizza was very bland and tasted like a frozen pizza bought from the supermarket. The pasta serving was generous, however also lacked in flavour. The seafood was very bad quality. The mussels smelt and tasted like rotten eggs. Made a complaint to the waiter whom had the decency to come back and apologise. But a simple apology is not good enough having to pay full price of $80 for the worst italian food we have ever eaten. Do yourself a favour and PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

5 of us for lunch today. Nice welcome by Scottish guy and seated promptly. Order taken, drinks arrived, food followed about 20 mins later. 2 large pizzas, brushetta and gnocchi
All freshly cooked, hot and very tasty, been a couple of times now and has never disappointed us. Great strip location, will return again.

Will never go back. Did not like there food, food was cold and took over 35 mins to arrive our entree arrived the same time as our main meal and the waitress was really rude and never asked us for a drink.

Had a great experience with the family! Great service, humgry kids that were kept entertained with coloring in and bang pizza's were out in no time. Tasty too... So got with your feet like the 200 other people and give this ol Freo faithful a go....

Pizza was not good. For a place which prides itself on pizza, this was a big let down. Very average. we got the Bella Roma special. The pasta we had was fantastic though. Penne with cacciatore in a napoli sauce. Serving was generous. A little on the pricey side for the quality of the food and the interior is outdated and not inviting at all.
Offshore_doug
Better with a McCains frozen pizza. Thought we would try Pizza Bella Roma for a change of scene. Do yourself a favour and stay at home or go somewhere else as it is probably the worst eatery in Fremantle. The pizza resembled a burnt wheel cap with out of date ingredients thrown at it. The calamari was stringy and bland with flowery frozen chips and a poor tasteless withered salad an the side. I left it on the side of the table to fester until one of the staff came to pick it up. I complained and was told by the waitress that she didn't like calamari in any case. A further complaint was made when paying the bill and no one cared to ask what was wrong and no attempt was made to compensate for the bad experience. Very run down place, poorly run, bad service, and equally bad food. Do yourself a favour and make your own at home and put the spare money in a red cross tin where someone will get some satisfaction from it. Very disappointed and will not go back.

Pizza was lovely salad was fresh and service was with a smile. Compensated for a disappointing dinner at the local tapas.
HJ
Dreadful food and service. We paid $38 for the worst pizza I have ever eaten. The calamari was straight out of a packet and served with cheap mayo. It was disgusting. To top it off they had customers standing by our table waiting for us to leave before we had even paid our bill. Absolutely atrocious.

Very dissapointed to arrive at 9pm on a Saturday night, only to be told We are just closing.9pm
on a SATURDAY EVENING.GET WITH IT

So over priced! So average! $30 for a crap pizza. Don't do it

Horrible food & pretty awful service. The outdoor seating is very deceiving as it makes it look modern & fresh, inside its very basic (wobbly old tables etc). Once seated I asked the waitress what the special was as the special blackboard was mounted on a wall we couldn't see, she didn't know the specials but went & read them then came back saying there was a pizza that looked delicious and had a pesto base with crispy bacon and veg- it sounded nice so I ordered it. A little while after ordering she came to the table & said it was actually a tomato base with BBQ sauce (fine) when it arrived it was an EGG and bacon pizza! I did not want that and said 'oh it has egg on it?' which prompted her to state that at least the bacon would be delicious. She came back 5 minutes later to ask how everything was at which point I pointed out that she hasn't said there was egg on the pizza & that I had picked it off because it was soggy and gross- there was no apology, no offer of getting me something else, it was just a weird experience! I didn't eat it and had to pay full price. Won't go there again!

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. Like the other reviews, this place was fantastic but not any longer. The pasta was horrible and tasteless. I needed salt, pepper and parmesan to add flavour to a creamy seafood pasta. The male waiter had the worst attitude, scruffy and surly, along with most the other staff. There was no cutlery on the table and it all seemed like an inconvenience to bother the staff for the most basic requests. Pizza ok but pricey.
Damage: 1 x small pizza, 3 x pastas, 2 x glasses wine = $115
THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. NEVER AGAIN

Disappointed!!! We went there few times, was quite good. But I was disappointed with my pitza today, pricy, taste less and dry chicken and not a good bread. I think my pitza bread was row in the middle.
The service was fast and efficient. Friendly staff.

Not what it used to be!. What a shame, this place used to be great for a cheap bite to eat before heading out or to a movie....last night the food was less than average, so bad neither my husband or i finished our meals. Service has also dropped right off, we wont be returning.

Will not be going back to this place again.. We have been going to this place for years but never again. We payed $80 for two of us for lunch we couldn't finish our food no taste to it what so ever. It had been pre cooked and heated up revolting. We tried to order a few beers but after 15 minutes we asked another waiter then finally got them really what is going on with this place now so sad really compared to what it use to be like very disapointed.

This is a decent family restaurant though over priced as per Perth standards. Service was friendly and efficient . Food is ok and pretty standard fare, kids love the spaghetti and the pizzas are ok if a little bland. My only real complaint is the ludicrous size of the servings. I had a veal parmigiana that was, without exaggeration a foot across. I'm not a shy eater but I managed to eat a third of the 'veal' with the chips and salad. My 12 year old nephew ordered an entree sized spaghetti. There would have been at least a kilo of food served to him and he was embarrassed he couldn't eat it all. This is so wasteful and morally wrong. That's my gripe anyway.

Very disappointed..!!! The queue outside on busy nights would have you believe this is a must go place but its more like a must avoid. Although the pizzas have looked like they were to die for on walking past and seeing other diners meals. They were bland and lacked any real inspiration. Something you would more expect to be delivered to your door at half the price. Just shows you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Bellaroma was our once a month dine out for years, we decided to go the other night with some friends and read all these reviews...im not sure what people are talking about...we had a lovely American/Canadian waitress..our food was good...yes the staff have changed over the few years but still got the service we use to years ago..Maybe it just depends who u get or what day it is!

Food is of a very low standard . Service is terrible. Staff don't care which is reflected through the quality of food and service. Unfortunately this place will continue to attract patronage due to its long history. However standards have dropped significantly and I would not return. I would advise others to say away from Bella Roma!!!

Fab family enviroment. Reading these reviews i can't believe its the same place that we visited over the festive period. The staff where inviting and obliging despite the fact it was extremely busy. Not only was it full but there was a queue outside the door, which was being dealt with admirably by a charming doorman. We have 3 children who were fetched colouring in by a lovely waiter. The food was great with very generous serves. Above all my partner drinks southern comfort which they don't sell but the manager went and grabbed some from the bottle shop! Now that’s service. This is the most child friendly establishment i have ever been to. WELL DONE. If only more parents had time to write reviews.....

Pizza Bella RUBBISH!. Echoing some of the reviews below I can only underscore the general sentiment that this place reeks of the worst service Fremantle has to offer.

Rude and incompetent staff, $35 dollar pizzas that aren't even worth that which you'd find for a fraction of the cost at local chain stores. Seriously, avoid this place like the plague that it is. Unfortunately places like this seem to thrive among the clueless clientele of Perth. You've been warned.

0/5

Worst service ever!!!!!. Went here on New Year's Day and am very disappointed to say that we experienced possibly the WORST service ever:( the American waitress was extremely rude and unhelpful. We tried to attract attention to place an order but was ignored completely. After 15 minutes someone took a drink order but when we didn't receive them we left. Sadly, I don't think anyone noticed. STAY AWAY

- Excellent Pizzas. Probably one of the best in Perth-Freemantle area. The pizzas are so fresh and flavoursome, just loved it.

- Excellent location and in mid of all action in freemantle. Being lined up beside very good bars gives you a great option after your drinks.

- I personally did not liked their Pasta that much. Its not great at all compared to their pizza and I felt its quite bland in taste.
- Could be very crowded on weekends and you could literally be banging ech others table and chairs while trying to sit and eat. I felt they have accomodated more tables than the space allows and its very crowded inside & sometimes inconvinient.

Having said that, I will definately suggest this restaurant to everyone.
Andy
Restaurant was half full. Poor service. We weren't acknowledged at the entrance for 5 minutes while waiters walked inbetween our group to walk in/out of the restaurant. After we were seated it took 10-15 minutes to actually get a waiter to order. When we finally got a hold of a waiter to take our order she said she doesn't serve this table and walked off without notifying another waiter. Food was okay. Ravioli was served warm/cold. Not enough cutlery was served. A BUG WAS SERVED with cutlery provided by the waiter!!!!

Really gone downhill since i last went about 6 years ago! The food is bland and boring, it just tastes like it has come out of the freezer. the pizzas are also very soggy and watery which is strange! I remember being in freo years ago and there was always a big line to get in. No it looks as though theyve lost a lot of loual customer due to bad service and overpriced, average food

Bad service. Waiters talking, taking their time. Food was plain. Could cook this myself and save money.

Perfect if you like frozen pizza

After dining here several times we were very disappointed...... The gnocchi was out of a bag. You expect more from an Italian restaurant , pizza was average and veal had no taste! We won't be back .

Pathetic Service - Don't bother. Have eaten at Pizza Bella Roma numerous times over the years. The food has always been good, however the service has been getting progressively worse. Went there on the weekend and was eventually seated by a staff member (there was no line and tables available, and it took about 10 minutes to be seated). After sitting there for almost 20 minutes with no staff member even coming to get us a menu we were not impressed, then when staff members were joking with each other - and a table of guests that they knew who were just seated got served first- instead of actually giving us a menu we decided to leave - don't even think they noticed which is the sadest thing.
Good food will only get you so far, pathetic and arragant service will ruin any restruant. Don't think you will catch me in Pizza Bella Roma for the next decade - then might give them another chance.

For the record we walked next door to Benny's and had a great meal - and Staff were absolutely fantastic.
Natalie
Have been going here for over 20 years but what's suddenly changed food not as good as it use to be
You use to get the best pizzas in Freo here not any more very disappointed

NO COMPLAINTS. I went to dinner at Pizza Bella Roma for the first time this year.
I had pasta and garlic bread. Garlic bread was served super quick and was obviously fresh.
My pasta also came out super fast and was delicious!
Wait stafff were so so friendly and came back to check to make sure the meal was ok. Offered drinks.
They packed the resst of the extremely large meal to take home.
Meal was not expensive and definately worth it!

You people need to get off your high horse, and stop complaining (:
