I've been to most burger joints in Perth and I have to say hands down that this place is the best I've been to. The burgers are juicy, flavorsome and ridiculously good. They are average size but the flavour and quality makes up for it, 100% worth the money. You'll be seeing more of me in the future!

If you love burgers you have to try Short Order in Freo. I'm a massive burger fan and I can confirm They're the best I've ever had in my life. The meat is cooked to perfection, every single time! The meat also tastes fresh, never dry or old. There's just enough sauce to make it nice and juicy with a little sweetness from the brioche bun. If you order a burger and fries you won't be leaving hungry as the serving size is generous. Don't forget to try their milkshakes! They're awesome and made with Great ice cream , not the cheap stuff! Sometimes they have quirky flavours like red skin. It can be a little bit challenging to find a seat on a Saturday night or in peak hour so plan ahead! We got the chicken burger, the no name burger and some fries. The burgers were SO GOOD! The chicken burger has siracha so it’s slightly spicy, the buns are perfect and the cheese is delicious. The chips were moreish but pretty spicy. We sat in the bar area and had a really nice red. The atmosphere was perfect for a rainy Thursday night.
I’ve tried a burger from their city store and really liked it. My friend and I decided to get some fries when we were at the Mantle and although $9 for a large seemed a bit steep, it was actually quite a generous portion that left us satisfied and the guy who served me was super nice, too.
Short order is easily in my top 3 burger places of Perth!!! I keep coming back to them time and time again. The flavour, portion sizes and the BUN is just to die for. The fries are also amazing. Really affordable and good price, great atmosphere at The Mantle as well and BYO. Although very limited seating space, so get there early if you have a big group. The short order burger is my favourite and a classic that you can’t go past.
This is a top quality burger joint in an amazing setting within The Mantle. Had both the chicken and beef burgers. The chicken was nice and crisp and the beef was also tender with a good colour. The shoestring fries were a perfect accompaniment. Everything was flavourful.
The only thing slightly lacking was the brioche bun not being quite as buttery and fluffy as I would like. However this is only a minor flaw in a great burger joint.

Went for dinner at the new shop on Hay Street in the city on a Thursday night, pretty quiet so we got a seat easy (there aren’t many just fair warning). My partner and I both got a double short order burger and fries to share. Burgers are cooked medium rare but you can request otherwise, we didn’t but my partners came out soooo raw in the middle and mine was just pink in the middle which I enjoyed but my partner said the texture of his was a bit ‘squishy’ because of the rawness. The flavour was perfect though, seriously delicious! I think we’d just ask for it to be cooked medium to ensure it wasn’t as pink in the middle. The burgers also seemed a little cold? But I think that’s because the bun wasn’t warm. I’ll be back to try more burgers :) fries are standard but good.
Absolutely top notch! By far one of the best burger joints in Perth. No wait to order when we went at 8:30pm on a Saturday. Very friendly staff and the food came out within around 10 minutes or less. Highly recommended!
Best burgers in perth for mine lol. Better than royals chicken and burgers, much better than varsity. Better than flipside and grilled. I cant think of any other burger joints. Anyway don’t need to cos this is the best one. Just get their standard burger it is outstanding. Maybe the 4th or 5th time you go try a different one but you won’t beat the short order one. Chips aren’t that great.

This place had a long line and no tables were free while we waited to order. I was super hungry and had high expectations. We did get a table eventually and the food was reasonably quick. My partner had the short order burger he really liked it but to begin with I was a bit disappointed as the fries were not as hot as I would've liked and I didn't like the dips either. First bite of the buttermilk chicken burger was good the bun was soft and fresh but then the sauce was way too spicy. I ended up peeling off the top bun tomato and cheese and ate the bottom half! If there is a next time I'll order without the spicy sauce!
Although the place was absolutely packed to the rafters the service was pretty hasty. From what I'd heard these are the best burgers you can get in Perth. But the beef patty was so over cooked it tasted remarkably similar to a McDonald's patty. The fried chicken was unreal, absolutely could not fault but would rather spend 8 dollars on a grand Angus
By far the nicest burger I've possibly ever had. There may be a nicer one somewhere but I'm yet to find it! Extremely delicious juicy burgers, soft buns and maple bacon, couldnt ask for more. Chips are awesome and a very large serving at that. BYO makes this place a cheap meal. Been here around 15 times in the last year and ready to go back as soon as possible. Recommended to everyone!!!

Decent burgers you can count on to satisfy any hunger. The key difference with these burgers is the deliciously soft brioche buns, as well as the freshly prepared patties. Both the beef and chicken choices are equally great! A great place to begin a night out in free, or to finish as a late night snack.
I'm in love with this place!! We ordered the Short Order Burger and a side of fries. That brioche bun was amazing! I enjoyed every aspect of the burger, but the sauce was soo yum! The patty was juicy and the chips was amazing value for $6. loved it, thanks for the great feed x

Short order is a 5 star burger experience. These guys are taking burger craft very seriously. Every element was great. I don't know the neck story but there is passion for real American style burgers here. Gourmet can't recommed short more highly. Loved the generous serve of fries, combined with the awesome burger we were full and happy.

Short Order Burger Co. is a burger joint that has developed a quite the cult following since popping up in Fremantle’s “The Mantle” in 2015. The reason? They serve up some of the best burgers in Perth.
Excellent burgers. One of the best in perth. It's always hard to find a seat here.... but it is worth it! It's also byo alcohol. Be wary of opening times.
We ordered the short order burger and chicken burger .The burgers were all decadent and bursting with an abundance of wholesome fresh ingredients.The succulent meat patties blended magnificently with the pickle and schredded lettuce etc.The bun was unique as it was soft and slightly sweet .Definitely recommend .

The buns were soft and sweet, perfection and the bacon had maple syrup tones. Divine all over. Things I thought could be improved were to have loaded fries 🍟 instead of fries with a teeny tiny container of sauce. It's also a bit pricey, a double version of the burger was an extra $5 which was a bit more than I expected 🤑
had the short order burger ($13). overall a tasty burger but they don't heat the bun so it is cold to the touch when it comes out. also way too much sauce so things want to slide out and become quickly soggy. besides that a nice place to visit and the burgers are pretty good.
Needed something other than fish&chips in freo so some American style burgers were sounding good. Ordered fries and a double short order burger. Service was quick and polite. Can't say the venue is that great for a summers evening, tad warm inside. Picture shows the double vs single size. I really enjoyed the flavours of the burger and tasted really fresh. The bun was super soft and felt like I was going to rip through it holding the patties in there, I think a single would have been an easier eat.
We ordered the short order burger (double patty) and BBQ bacon cheese burger, 1 serving of fries and 1 can of soft drink for $38. For the price I think it's worth it cos it comes up to be almost the same if we customise our burgers at McDonald's and the burgers here were much better (duh).

Was really looking forward to trying this place. They were good burgers though it was nothing mind blowing (maybe I had my expectations up too high) but I'd say definitely worth a shot, it's the kind of food that just hits the spot when you need it (pretty much all burgers though). I got the short order burger - really good quality soft juicy patty. Prepare to get a bit sloppy - the brioche bun tastes fab but doesn't do well at holding things together. We also got the bacon bbq burger - had a good tangy bbq flavour in it. Also had a taste of the chicken burger. The chicken was amazingly crispy and ridiculously freshly cooked, as in we couldn't even bite into it at the start because it was piping hot.
The burgers were all good although I'd give the fries a miss - it's a generous serving but they're pretty much Maccas fries and the sauce they give with it is a tiny serving.
Overall they're some good burgers but not the best burger experience I've had. Worth a try though :)

Perth's best bacon cheeseburger - without doubt. It's what the other burger places in Perth are trying to be but kinda aren't. The patties, in terms of flavor and consistency are faultless. The maple bacon, brioche bun and BBQ sauce: next level. The Sriracha and jalapeño sauce amazing. No five stars because other burgers offered fail to compare to the cheeseburger.
Best burger in Perth!!! I was impressed by Varsity burgers but the burger here is faultless! Got a bacon cheeseburger and reuben. The reuben was good tasty Swiss cheese, sour sauerkraut and flavourful meat toasted nicely toasted. I loooooove reubens but it'd be hard for me not to choose to have a burger here. Bread was soft even a tad sweet, patty was juicy, crispy bacon, pickles, cheese and perfect BBQ mayo sauce combination (smoky and right amount of sweetness). Perfection! Shame this place has limited opening hours.

Offering some of the better burgers in Perth. Pictured is the BBQ bacon cheeseburger. The beef is quality but they haven't added too much spice to it, much of the flavour is in the other ingredients; maple bacon, pickles, cheese and sauces. Lovely buns and shoe string fries. Byo to boot, try it on a Thursday if you're not wanting to wait too long.

My answer to the question of best burger in Perth is easy: Short Order Burger Co. Usually found lurking in The Mantle at the East end of Freo, the occasions where they venture outwards are always worth a look. Short Order Burger Co teamed up with the equally-excellent campus cafe Grindhouse to celebrate International Burger Day on Saturday with a tribute to the classic Whopper: the WAAPA with cheese, cunningly named after the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (which also lives at ECU in Mount Lawley).
Best burger I have ever had! From the brioche bun to the perfectly cooked meat patty, it was a pleasure to eat this delicious burger. The burger size was well thought out and the chips were crunchy without being overcooked. The sriracha and jalapeños mayonnaise was amazing.
This place is in the mantle, a warehouse style with a couple of other dining options. The menu only had five burgers to choose from. Based on the limited, I was expecting them to do each burger really well. I went for the short order burger with fries. The fries tasted like ones from maccas. The bun of the burger was super soft. The burger itself was tasty however had way too much sauce that it made it really sloppy and hard to eat. It is however one of the better American style burgers you can get in Perth.
The burgers arrived quickly and the staff were straight to the point- no fuss. I like it. I had the BBQ bacon burger which was delicious! If you're really hungry like I was it's probably not quite enough, but they do have a double pattie option, so worth considering for next time. All our burgers were great, but just a little on the small side. A really great alternative to the usual freo burger places.

Burgers and fries (with sriracha dipping sauce) is absolutely delicious. One of the more memorable burgers we've had. I had the short order burger and hubby had the fiery SOB. Bread was nice and soft, patty with melted cheese was delicious and juicy. Perfect combo with a&w root beer.

I think I could try and talk you through how the brioche bun was soft and toasted with just the right amount of crunch, how the bacon tasted of maple and didn't lose the bacony goodness or tenderness, cheese melted perfectly, gherkin, touch of mayo, tomato but the beef - how do the grill gods BBQ it so it is slightly charred outside but pink inside?!!! Must be magic. The fries were, of course, perfect. The jalapeño mayo dip a great accompaniment. But I fail - because while I was eating this I realised I can't explain how good it is. The venue is even better. Don't dress up, wear shorts, a tee, a summer dress. BYO and enjoy the best burger of your life. Guaranteed.

The chips were amazing! The burger however was good but not great! The bun was nice & light, patty was good but the sauce was too over powering & I didn't particularly like how the bacon was cooked. Overall it was a solid meal but wasn't huge. Could've gone another burger! Oh and also I love the venue but geez it was atleast a scorching 40 degrees inside when we went. A bit of insulation wouldn't go astray

We've been looking for a great burger place around our area and have the one! This place is tucked away at the Mantle which incorporates other popup restaurants within one venue. Loved the vibe and chilled out atmosphere there which definitely captured the very rustic nature of Fremantle. Ordered the short order burger and the hubby ordered the double short order burger. I absolutely loved it! It was juicy and not dry like some other burgers at other places tend to be. The buns were soft and fresh and the flavours just melted in your mouth. Will definitely be our regular burger placee from now on! Amazing amazing amazing!!
The maple bacon cheese burger was awesome, although the fries seemed just the same as mcDonalds fries. The single short order burger had minimum beef patty in it as you could only taste the pickle And salad the. Was nice but probably a bit more of a thicker patty would have been better.
Ordered a Double SOB and was not really impressed. First bite reminds me of Big Mac from Macca's. Are American style burgers usually bland tasting? Both patties were cooked perfectly though and fries were better than the burger. Wouldn't say that the burgers are bad, just that it needs a wow factor in it to live up to the incredibly high ratings.

So I knew that I definitely needed to check out what all the hype was about. Short Order Burger Co is actually a pop up restaurant inside ‘the Mantle’ which has a few other restaurants – It kind of had a cool hipster food court feel to it. We went on a Friday night and the place was quite busy. There was quite a long wait for the burger, approx. 45 minutes to 1 hour (sure it was busy but I also think that they weren’t that efficient). There’s also not a great deal of seats available either for such a big area. When the burgers arrived, they were smaller than I expected (particularly in relation to the price) however the quality of the meat and flavours were delicious. I wouldn’t say it’s ‘the best burger I’ve had’, but it is worth a try. I would recommend going as soon as the open to avoid the wait.
Had the Short Order Burger and the Fiery Short Order Burger. Definitely prefer the fiery one because of the depth in flavours. Also had the shoestring fries with jalapeño mayo, and I've got to say, the fries were better than the burgers. Pleasantly surprised by the jalapeño mayo sauce.

I went to Perth recently and a friend told me I had to go eat at this Burger joint in Freo. I'm from Melbourne so we know a good burger, but this place was exceptional. While the Brioche bun was familiar, it was the patty that really stood out. No-one's doing pink patties in Melbourne. In Melbourne it's all this parsley dense meat that's brown or grey all the way through. Short order was just meaty, cheesy goodness.
With the sauce (I got Sriracha mayo) and shoe string fries and a can of Root Beer it really was bloody outstanding.
Hard to beat and worth the wait on a busy night. A lot of passion goes into the burgers and I don't miss it when I'm in town. They need to open one in Melbourne!

The reviews are right - and you have plenty of time to read them given it takes 30-40mins for burgers (even close to opening time it seems). Sure they're busy (for good reason) but they also didn't seem particularly efficient. I had the bacon cheeseburger ($14), which was delish, if on the small side (again as other reviewers have said). Average age of the crowd would be early to mid 20's and lots of hipsters. Good vibes if you're one of them, a long wait if you're not.
When I arrived at this place, just realised it is a pop up restaurant... It is inside 'The Mantle' which has 3 other restaurants (like a mini foodcourt but funkier). Finally got to try and see what the hype is all about.. I would give it 4,5 stars but price wise, brought it down to 4 as it is not relative to their portion... Other than this, burger was nice! Love their brioche bun, beef patty melts in your mouth and chips is shoestrings size like the one in mcd, had the same crispiness. I got the japanese mayo as the chips sauce and I loveeee it :D it has the spicy kick to it... See photos for individual review^^

Ok so I'm just going to say that if you haven't been here as yet. Put this place on your bucket list of places to eat at. Everything in their burgers go perfectly together. The patties have an amazing crust to them and are cooked to pink perfection. Throw in some candied bacon, layers of American cheese, caramelised onions, crispy gherkins. Gets even better as you can double up on the meat and cheese. All of these incased in a soft, rich brioche bun. The fries were fresh, crunch on the outside and soft creamy on the inside. Paired with yummy sauces such as the Sriracha mayo and Jalapeño mayo. One word - Perfection. Treat yo'self!
Very tasty burger! It was very busy so there wasn't a huge amount of seating and the food took a while, BUT the burger made up for it. We sat at the bar so could watch the burgers being made. You could tell the owner/chef was very passionate and cared about the food that was going out. Would recommend and come here again!
…the bbq bacon cheeseburger from Short Order Burger Co in Fremantle. So glad I finally made it there all the way from Ellenbrook!. It’s a bit of a struggle to find, and hidden inside an “activity hub” (building) called The Mantle which houses a few other restaurants (and a ping pong table). They’re open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm until sold out – make no mistake, these are some of the best burgers you’re ever going to eat, and well worth traveling for.

With a big appetite, we also shared a Short Order burger and fries with a Sriracha aioli sauce. My verdict of the burgers? It was delicious. Like what I have heard, the best burgers are definitely right here at Short Order. There are so many elements which makes the burgers stand out. The brioche bun is pillowy soft and fluffy. The patty itself, which is cooked to medium rare is juicy, seasoned well and bursting full of flavour. It’s a true burger love at Short Order. I’m taken to burger heaven.

Okay firstly, I'll just say that on the whole Perth is a pretty sad burger destination. There's an awful lot of depressing tasting burgers out here and I was starting to give up on my quest to find a truly awesome burger. I put this place off for a while because I was never in the area when this place is open, but I managed to get down here. Now I'm just kicking myself for not making more of an effort sooner. Finally! This is the kind of burger I've been dreaming about, and I haven't tasted anything remotely like this in far too long. These guys actually care! The buns taste fresh and soft (stodgy, cardboard burger buns are a dime a dozen in this town and it makes me sad, so sad). The patty is juicy and pink and awesome. The bacon!!!! The bacon is legit! I used to love bacon more than oxygen, but repeated exposure to those undercooked, flavourless, chewy slabs of fatty ham (or just burnt black and concrete textured) you find on burgers here has made me question everything. Maple candied bacon, I almost had a tear in my eye when I saw it. And it was that perfect, wonderful grey area between crispy and soft. I'm rambling but I could write pages about this place. Please don't go anywhere Short Order Burger Co. I just found you, I can't go back to crappy burgers again, I'm not ready.

Before my first ever Short Order experience, I thought to myself “hmm…how good can a burger really be? It’s just a burger!” but oh my…Short Order has changed my whole perspective on burgers forever. I’m not a big meat/carbs/pizza/pasta/dude-food kind of person. But man, I’ll eat a Short Order burger any day!
Would come back again! Burgers were very yummy and so were the fries. This place is located within the mantle which is super cute :) wish they had more burgers to try!
One of the best burgers I've ever had. Quality ingredients, thoughtfully combined. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 for me are the buns being cold. If the were toasted/steamed and served hot they would be absolute perfection.
Short Order Burger Co really blew Alissa and I away; both burgers were the best burgers we've eaten in Perth, and quite possibly ever. Both the signature SOB Burger and the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger fit perfectly into the image I've had of the Platonic Form of a Burger, and in fact exceeded my expectations by some margin. From the super soft Bun and the Beef Patty served medium rare to the perfect sizing and balance of flavours, the attention to detail and uncompromising quality really puts most other Burger Joints to shame. If you love Burgers - or, like me, are not very often impressed by them - you owe it to yourself to give Short Order Burger Co a try. You won't regret it.

Easily the best burger in Perth. Seriously nothing compares to this and it isn't even close.
Was a long wait but that is expected when the burger is this good. Definitely worth waiting approx 40mins for.
Will be back every weekend.
It was a burger so good, I had a moment. Drop those average burgers now, people, and get your butt to Short Order Burgers. The grass fed beef is thick, cooked pink and fresh to order, with little nubbly bits that catch on the grill. There are two types of cheese melted on every patty – elastic American and smoked mozzarella. Then there are the onions that are caramelised and slathered in barbecue sauce. And – candied bacon. Yes, candied bacon.
Super yummy, very flavoursome and well priced burgers. Nice and casual setting, but can get quite busy. The sauce is delicious and the buns are so soft. Really enjoyed the burgers.
This burger was so amazing. I loved the softness of the bun and the good McDonald's-cheesy taste to it. I devoured it so quickly, just make sure you get a drink as well because it's so mouth watering!
Burgers are good but fairly small.. It's true that wait is a while, especially at prime dinner time on Friday night, which is of course when the Sweetlips decided to go but the best thing about this place is the atmosphere. Really cool, vibrant, yet relaxed vibe inside The Mantle and Sweetlips will be back to try the other food venues inside.. And maybe a cheekie burger as well! 🐠
A little bit disappointed at our visit to short order after hearing how amazing the burger are. I ordered the original which tasted really good but was really thrown off by the amount of sauce that was is in. Our fries weren't very hot as well as it being super salty. I would have gave them a 4 but the service was pretty average so 3.5 it is.
Hella good? Hella yes. I've had my eye on Short Order Burger Co since it first popped up at The Mantle in Freo every Friday and Saturday night for dinner. Burgers are big business here in Perth, and people go gaga over a good handmade patty, melty cheese and a squishy bun. Well at least, I know I do.
Went a couple of weeks ago on the hunt for a burger that would change our lives. Well we will hunt no more! Since finding this little gem of a restaurant we've won the lotto, found the gold at the end of the rainbow and bred our own unicorn. Not really but if you're looking for a great tasting burger then you will be wasting your time going anywhere else.

I would score this place 10 if I could! It is amazing!!! Best burgers in Perth and the doughnuts are pretty great too! Only downfall is they are only open at night time and not during the day
These burgers are epic and staff are awesome. I regret eating anything else ever... Get the BBQ bacon cheeseburger, it's RIDIC! Please open more nights so my husband can come too!
Decided we would treat ourselves to a cheat day - and so Burgers it was!! Was worth the 35min drive to get here, burger buns were lovely and Soft, Fillings tasted fresh too! We tried the ‘plant base burger patties’ and got to admit, it did not lack taste - in fact, it reminded me of the delicious BIG MAC’s i use to have as a kid!! ENJOYABLE!! Thanks Team!!

I had a veggie patty cheeseburger and my partner the spicy chicken burger.
Good ambiance and cool minimalistic style! Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was fantastic and has beautiful seasoning on the fried chicken. Fiery Short Order Burger was juicy although I could not taste any spicyness and quite regular, the shoestring fries was fantastic also 😊
The way a burger should be. Simple American style not the over complicated mess that you often get in burger places. . They need to open in Brisbane as my last day in Perth.
Oh and the milkshake to die for.

Delicious burgers and super friendly staff. The store has a great atmosphere and combined with the quick wait times makes for a great atmosphere. The burgers are top quality and are extremely filling, there’s a wide variety for all taste buds. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area. 5/5 stars!
