Review Mr Finch - Fremantle

Daniel Liao
Warm, relaxing homey style Cafe. Nice to sit in, have a nice cuppa and enjoy the house converted Cafe atmosphere. Friendly staff and service. Worth coming back I would say.

Good coffee so far. Coffee order a little slow for a takeaway person in a rush. Guys that work there are really trying to please and are genuine. Good sorts. I would like to come back for breakfast it looks like they are getting a nice local following. Keep it up!

Venue with indoor and outdoor seating. It was located close to the Fremantle Markets and the heart of Fremantle. The venue was more suited for breakfast as the lunch menu is relatively small. We ordered the slow cooked beef burger, crushed avocado toast, mixed berry smoothie and banana and honey smoothie. The food was comparable to the other local venues but priced higher for the portion received.

Had a latte; strangely curious taste, but certainly drinkable. Outdated menu led to a more pricy bill than was advertised; no recompense offered other than a dismissive apology. Decent outdoor seating but claustrophobic interior, and indifferent staff contribute to poor overall experience.

Had brekky here today on out last day in freo. Was really impressed with this place, coffee was strong bodied but not bitter and the avo on toast was delicious. I'd highly recommend the chocolate coconut slice if it's avaliable as it was fresh and yummy. My partner ate the big brekky and loved it too, service was fantastic and friendly and the atmosphere was rustic and really well presented.

Really nice welcoming vibe! Can't wait to return for another Tumeric latte and a serving of their yummy and very sustaining "grain bowl." Just wish I could find a runny poached egg yolk in Fremantle.

Stumbled upon this absolute GEM of a cafe one Sunday morning. Top quality food from this place with exceptional service. Absolute pleasure to have been here, will most definitely be back again!

Good coffee & good value breakfast, friendly environment, feels like you are just relaxing in your own home.

So many options for breakfast and lunch.
Such a quaint little cottage come cafe, definitely worth a visit if you are in the Fremantle area and are in the mood to treat yourself to a high quality meal!

Best part of this place is the street side seating. Staff are friendly and helpful but some of the food choices are just ordinary. I haven't had much luck with the lunch meals as they were quite bland and/or oily but nice enough for cake and coffee. I would still go there for a coffee and to just sit on the verandah but probably after I've had lunch or breakfast elsewhere.

Plenty of lovely cafe's serving food that is much better in Fremantle. We ordered the Polenta with poached eggs in pesto and the Big Breakfast.
The Polenta dish was alarmingly salty and had too much sauce. Once mixed with the egg yolk from the poached eggs, the polenta was just swimming in all the liquid and was quite unpleasant to eat.
Big breakfast was very ordinary.
Coffee was good and the street location nice.

Grilled vegetable salad, iced coffee, white choc and raspberry mud cake, "gigantic" slim latte. Good, quick and friendly service. Reasonable prices and a nice location. I love the vibe of this cafe. Look forward to coming back and trying some of their other meals.

Sitting out the front was a great choice, especially early in the morning when its still decently cool. Coffee was pretty good and the staff were nice. The breakfast food was also good, and came very quickly!

Lunch was poor but breakfast might be better. Just don't order the uninspired and expensive chicken burger which comes with chicken, lettuce and the tomato lid. However, the avocado toast was better.

Lovely atmosphere at Breakfast this morning. Food was great. Staff friendly. All meal ready at same time which is great. Thanks will return.

I had worked myself into a burger cravings by lunchtime and the sun was out, but where do you find a good burger at lunchtime in Freo that isn’t a chain? I ventured off the track to Mister Finch and found a Café with lots of hidden rooms and a large front verandah. As I was almost the only diner at the time, I had pick of the place. I went out front on the couch after ordering the slow cooked beef brisket burger with house made BBQ sauce and the Zinger juice with orange, ginger, carrot, apple and lemon. My freshly squeezed juice came out quickly. It was vibrantly orange and bursting with flavour. The perfect juice for preparation of the burger. The burger was fairly large filled with beef, lettuce and tomato. One bite and I was in burger heaven. The beef was cooked perfectly and filled with delicious flavour on a light fluffy roll. The sauce was a wonderful. I must have been hungry as the burger vanished quickly from my plate. A wonderful find in Freo; I will have to come back and try brekkie.

Nice, simple affair - I had the soup of the day (lentil and veggies) which was a warm comfort meal on a chilly winters day. $12 to me is a little expensive(no price on menu so just had to hope for a good price when I went up to buy)- however, the range of rolls and sandwiches seemed better priced and looked very tasty, as did the cakes and muffins. The decor is cute and quaint. Overall, a decent cafe with a tasty looking menu

The Ponder Room
It’s not often that I visit a café twice in the same day but Mr Finch Noshery in Fremantle had me mesmerised. I couldn’t take it all in in one quick visit. Originally I popped in for a quick bite before a movie. Since I’m on a bit of a health kick at the moment I bypassed the massive muffins and went for a sandwich which turned out to be the perfect choice. It was just enough to stop my stomach rumbling in the darkness, and not so much that I’d be in danger of falling asleep. Mind you since I was seeing the latest Woody Allen movie there was little danger of that. This is another one of those cafes that will give you some great décor ideas while satisfying any hunger pains.

What a blissful afternoon was spent here. Great food, beautiful décor and wonderful community spirit. Longer review is up on the blog. This is a must for a lazy morning or afternoon. Thanks ladies

Come for lunch at Mister Finch and you will get the opportunity to indulge in their house made soft tacos. It’s two tacos per serve but if you would love to try a bit of everything, you are more than welcome to mix and match. I love having a bit of variety so I went for the mix and match option. We had the slow cooked spiced beef taco with tomato salsa and avocado cream. I love how the beef is tender, complementing well with the creamy and fresh textures of the avocado cream.

Mister Finch is quite the quirkly little spot hidden in Fremantle. It is located close to the boardwalk area but not quite along the Cappuccino Strip. I would guess it might be by passed fairly often…what were you thinking!. We picked a table just outside and looked over the menu. The menu offered so many great choices as well as the daily specials, we took a little while to decide.

I arrived during the lunch time "rush" with about 4 others on a Wednesday. They seemed unprepared to deal with more than a couple of diners at once. It took 20 minutes between ordering a latte and it arriving - rethink a quick takeaway coffee from here! I overheard that the table next to me had been waiting a good 40 minutes for their sandwiches and salads. My latte was OK but not outstanding and not something I'd return for despite the location (next door to Luna!). What will bring me back, however, are the spaces available for group meetings. There's a good-sized room with a big table available for groups of ~8-10 and quiet meeting areas for smaller groups inside. The long tables out the front would also be perfect for gatherings. Just give yourself plenty of time.

I visited Mister Finch on Saturday with a few friends for a late breakfast, weekends until 12pm.
The location of the cafe is fantastic with parking close by. I loved the menu options and the interior of the cafe. There are little rooms off the main area where you order as well as outdoor seating.
As well as the menu options, there are choices available at the till, the specials. I was torn what to order.

What delightful place!!!!!. Hooray! I am generally not a person that hangs out at cafes but I have found a place that is peaceful, has warm friendly down to earth staff and the food is great!. I have tried breakfast and lunch there now and both have been top notch. It's somewhere I definitely will go back to.

True Gem!!!!!!!. I do not like to tell many people about Mister Finch as it is a true little gem that is tucked away with awesome wholesome food and great service.

Sour coffee, sour attitudes. Started badly when my coffee tasted like someone had poured the used grounds in and my partners coffee was a warm milk devoid of any coffee, burned or otherwise. Meals were ok, big breakie was generous although bland. Zucchini fritters my partner had were also just ok. The worst part of the meal was the horrible attitude from the waiter. Sure i understand it's annoying when someone says the coffee is too bitter to drink but muttering under your breath is not the response you give. Either have the conviction to stand by your product or apologise and try to improve. Attitude will get you no where champ. Hope you learn that lesson quickly.

Great food terrible service. Food is amazing and I couldn't fault it. Only problem is our whole table had finished their breakfast and then after waiting a little longer our friend finally got served. We had to ask twice for the meal. A complimentary coffee sent over to the table would have been nice! The manager offered a take away coffee but I was made to feel a little awkward for complaining. We also got over charged by $20 and only because we added it up our selves we realised.

Disappointing. Went between Christmas and New Year .Because of the holidays the waitress said there were no patties and no salad (except for the Thai salad which was not bad ).I don't get why you can't make food because a holiday was coming up in two days -surely they make fresh food every day ?? Only a few cakes on counter (no cover). The burgers were very nice but no garnish which looked odd on a large plate .

Awesome food - shabby chic decor - friendly and helpful staff. After failing to be tempted at the eateries on South Terrace today - we walked the very short distance down Norfolk St to Mister Finch's and were glad that we did. The menu and options are varied with plenty of light and also more substantial options for lunch. There were also yummy healthy looking sweet and savoury offerings if you wanted to be tempted. My husbands beef burger was a huge homemade pattie and awesome bun with all the trimmings...my Tuna Pattie with salads was a light but filling meal that couldn't be faulted. There were coffee and sweet options but we decided we would try those another day. Staff were excellent....very friendly, helpful but not over the top. We loved sitting outside under the verandah on a perfect spring day. Loved the décor and the vibe. We will be back :-)

Stopped for an impromptu lunch (aren't they all?) and initially we walked away after a quick read of the menu (burgers, steak sandwich, pork rolls...all too heavy for a hot Perth day) but when we came back and saw the deluxe patties and salads inside we stayed. I had a deliciously fresh poached chicken and kale salad and the lovely wife had an amazing Thai chicken pattie and salad. Both were flavoursome, fresh and sufficiently filling. Well priced with very friendly staff but the two milkshakes were a bit lacklustre (should have splurged on a smoothie!). Overall, fantastic and we'll be back.

Never disappoints. Excellent home made food and great service.
The best breakfast around and smoothies are delicious.
Would highly recommend.

Herald Food Review. After, having read the food review article in the freo herald paper, thought i would give it a go, sounded ok! Nicely set out place. Took quite a while to order, the young man taking orders, keep telling those waiting to order, that he will be there shortly, after repeating that on three occasions the order was taken! Steak sandwich and chocolate shake, I asked, if I could get extra ice cream in shake, he said no need they are reasonably thick. The order came, not very well presented, just a squashed piece of bread cut in half, like you get when you make a toasty, a paper thin steak with a tiny dry piece of lettuce sticking out on the side! The shake was as runny as water, with a dash of chocolate! When making the order, it's hard to hear if they have the blenders going at the same time! Maybe it was just a bad day, but that is my experience!

Iced drinks were generous portions. Both the veggie panini and the tandoori chicken burger were mouth-wateringly delicious. Wishing we lived closer and can have this place as our local!
