Review Salsa Rossa - Fremantle

So it started off as a 3 star because the service was a bit awkward.. and although the place was not busy, we were seated next to a group of four who were quite loud and a bit obnoxious. It really ruined the atmosphere as it was hard to maintain conversation. There was also a solid wait between the first and second courses. We were ready to skip dessert, but then the table next to us finally exited, and I were then able to have a better time. Honestly, the patronage completely changed the vibe of the establishment. We then ordered dessert, which was quite delicious, and left fulfilled. I do suggest you give the place a once over with a duster as there were cobwebs hanging by the door. And online the menu states $70 for 3 courses but it was actually $75.

This restaurant goes back decades - Shannon, the present owner, is a great chef. In winter there's a blazing log fire in the central room, to keep patrons warm - and in summer months, patrons spill out onto the footpath, or the terrace area at the rear of the restaurant, to enjoy the fresh air with their meal. The restaurant provides an interesting selection of seafoods, italian dishes, australian, sides and desserts. With plenty of interesting wines and beers, or sparkling or flat water, and other beverages. Great place to dine, or take your friends for a meal. I'll add some more photos later.

The food here is quite delicious, it's a tight menu that is hard to make a wrong choice with and a lovely wine list to match. The service is unfortunately slow, front and back of house. Our first instance was a reasonably busy Friday night and the kitchen forgot our order. The wait staff were apologetic and comped us some sparkling wine. We were seated next to the bread station the first time which only added to our frustrating wait. Why they don't give you bread to start if you're going to wait that long is beyond me. Second time we attended a moderately busy Friday night and we still waited 45 minutes for our main course. So maybe don't head in if you're a hangry individual. The other major drawback is it is so loud. A distinct lack of soft furnishings means if you are hard or hearing or otherwise inclined towards a more intimate dinner this place might not be for you.

Not a great night as my steak was exceptionally salty and could not eat it (sent it back to kitchen and did not accept another) and my wife's duck was slightly overcooked and a bit dry. Staff and chef were extremely apologetic but it did not make a great wedding anniversary night out.

Highly recommend, 5 dishes each coarse to select from, however each dish was cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere with open fireplace. Definitely going back soon

An outstanding food experience. Chefs are a German couple; they make everything from scratch. Passionate about what they're doing, and execution is meticulous. He is a pastaio - I would never normally choose pasta in a restaurant but DO NOT SKIP THE PASTA. Best I've ever had; just an incredible balance of texture and flavours. My mouth is watering again. One of the distinguishing things about this night was the attention paid to the vegetables in the dishes. None of your stock standard broccolini here; the vegies were creative and varied. Dishes were ENHANCED by the vegetables. Cannot fail to mention Luisa's lemon tart. Made on the day, just perfect. I cannot imagine a finer example. Perfect balance of sweet and tart. Perfect crust. Presentation: she must have cut it with a laser. Sensational. My best food experience in years.

OMG, one of our favourite restaurants at the moment. $70 for 3 courses, amazing value. Great selection of beers and wine by the glass. Deserts to die for ( Valrhona chocolate and raspberry )

Quaint different little restaurant that can only be found in an old suburb like East Fremantle. The service was excellent and the decor simplistic but comfortable and welcoming. Huge variety of wines, however not a great choice in food. . I did find something I could have and it was delicious as were the sweets. The cost was reasonable. Can recommend this place for a romantic, /intimate evening.

Never disappointed by my experience when I eat here! And how could you be! If it’s not the amazing food, delicious wine and welcoming staff, it’s the beautiful fire, atmosphere or music selection. The food is above board, and I always look forward to the three course option, for only $60, such great value!

Amazing experience. It's rare that every part of a dining experience is perfect. The food is another level!

Food is always amazing and the atmosphere is cosy with the fireplace, perfect in winter. Great value for money and good selection of wine. Freshly baked bread in between meals to top it all off.

Stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking along George Street looking for a place to eat dinner. The restaurant is cosy. The staff were freaking lovely- they actually made the whole dining experience wonderful. The waitress had a good understanding of the menu and offered tastings of the wine so we could find one we liked. The waitress was accomodating to menu changes ... in fact she didn’t even flinch when I gave my usual ramble 😂. I highly recommend this restaurant!

What a little gem. From the front door, the rich delicious smells waft out onto the street to entice you in. Ambiance, top service, flavours to die for. We love waiting for the new seasons menu so we can begin the journey again. The locals, local. Love Shannon and his tribe.

Went to Salsa Rossa for dinner tonight, love this place, great staff and the food is always what we talk about on our 20 min drive home. The new menu was amazing can’t wait to taste the rest of the dishes.
We had the octopus and ravioli for entree and the beef and duck for mains! All a must try but the ravioli was a stand out.
I tell everyone if you want to try somewhere different you won’t be disappointed, they have a pick your own 3 course for $70 great value.

Dined at Salsa Rossa last night and the food was amazing! Italian style, asian flavours at first was very unsure but WOW. Salmon and Kangaroo entrees were great, followed by beautiful duck and steak with a good wine selection to match. Can't wait to dine here again!

The food, the atmosphere, the staff, the wine list are all totally delicious. Love this place! Highly recommend for a cosy family dinner, date night or just when you can’t be bothered cooking. Highly recommend.

I was a bit sceptical about Salsa Rossa's new menu, Italian style Asian flavours but I will happily eat my words... and eventually EVERYTHING on the menu!!! It was divine, I've been 3 times in 4 weeks and am sure to go again soon. Stand out dishes for me were the scallops served on a delicious pickled cucumber, the octopus on a green papaya salad, so fresh so beautiful and the steak which was served atop a glorious bed of golden garam masala potatoes. So tasty. The staff are super friendly and kind to my kids which makes dining out with them so much easier. Next stop on the ItaliAsian adventure the pork belly, I'm super excited to try!!

Great little place in East Fremantle to escape the winter nights here. The fireplace sets an amazing ambience, and the food is to die for. The pork belly and beef cheeks are two of our favourites! Highly recommend this restaurant
Has been renamed and is Limones sister restaurant apparently. It’s just like Limones still which is good 😊. Nice cosy table by the fire delicious beef cheek, nice red white and zingy lemon tart for dessert. Always a nice meal at this place.

A last minute booking and an absolutely fabulous night. Food fantastic, good wine selection, service solid, atmosphere - cozy winters night with log fire burning. Will definitely come again.

Some great food served in a cozy little restaurant which has limited options yet does everything really well. The risotto, lamb shank and lemon tart were all some of the best I've had in Perth. Definitely coming back again.

I can confidently say that this is one of the best restaurants in Perth. Period.

From the moment you step inside and take in the atmosphere, you know that this restaurant has a lot of character; with its authentic Italian influence, wooden floors, and warm fireplace, this is a cosy little restaurant that will make you feel like you are transported to Italy.

For a reasonable $55 you can have any 3 courses from the menu. Every dish that came out was delicious. The garlic prawns were nicely flavoured, and the mushroom risotto was to die for - so creamy with a rich mushroom flavour. For mains we had the soft lamb shank with mash, and the succulent pork belly. Both cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Lastly for dessert, we ordered the chocolate torte and the lemon tart. The chocolate torte was warm and smooth, whilst the lemon tart was creamy with just the right amount of zing. I could not fault any of the dishes, and I'm a picky eater!

I would not usually give a restaurant a perfect review, but this restaurant was truly worth it. I will definitely come here again.
