Always our first stop after driving up from Margaret River, and out last on the way home! Superb coffee and friendly staff - our favourite Freo café.

The Little Concept is now my morning habit. Really relaxed atmosphere, polite staff and great music. And oh, the coffee is great too! Get a discount if you bring your own cup, and you can get one drink free of you buy ten. I've not tried the food, but looks great!
Rocio Gabrielli
Excellent little cafe with great coffee. Best coffee in Freo so far
Gabby Csohany
Fantastic coffee, service and food. This place is a gem.

A big group of family from hilton, geraldton and kalgoorlie have just had a post party hangover farewell breakfast at the friendliest cafe around. Delicious food, fabulous coffee and effecient friendly service. Even the puppy was welcome. This place is a must!!!

Awesome little cafe! Amazing food by the chefs and in the cabinet, coffee is incredible as well! Best local joint around hilton

Had a lovely lunch for the first time there. Fresh food and friendly staff.

Love this cafe. Perfect food every time and such friendly service, we go almost every weekend and it's our number 1 brekkie spot. Generous portions and they are happy to make things to suit you as well. Well worth a trip.

Love the environment, indeed gem in the neighborhood. The grill potato cake was fantastic and coffee. Will definitely be back again to try other food.

The local cafe is a little gem in the Hilton suburb. It's our local with great coffee, decent breakfast offering and you are always greeted with a smile. The cafe brings a warm sense of community, often seeing locals there - hence the name!
Amita Irawati
Very nice local cafe with friendly staffs.. love the food and the cafe vibe! Get the BELTA or anything with scramble eggs for a satisfying all day breakfast!
Dan The Cake Man
A suburban café that serves many of the locals, I decided to give it a try. Service was at the counter and I ordered the pancakes and long Mac. The coffee was excellent and hot. The pancakes did take a while to come out. They were fluffy, but a little dry for my liking.

I'm definitely never returning to the local cafe, workplace bullying is not tolerated anymore! I'm surprised at how awfully the manager speaks to a particular staff member in front of the regular customers and obviously nothing has ever been said. The coffee is ok but I'm willing to boycott the local cafe to make a statement the workplace bullying is not acceptable.

Returned to our old haunt after moving from the area last year, found that it is under (relatively) new ownership after it was sold in November last year. No more Ary's Eggs Benny (which was the best eggs Benedict in WA) 😕 settled for their Nasi Goreng and steak sandwich- very average. Kids pancakes were good. Biggest disappointment was the tea... two twinnings tea bags in a pot! You have got to be kidding!!<br/>Service was unremarkable. Will be tracking down Ary at His new place Gooseberries instead.
Leni
Great staff and service with a community atmosphere! Portion sizes a great and food and coffee are served quickly and are delicious! Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Great service, excellent staff, perfect coffee

Miss. I am not impressed with this small cold cafe. Manager is rude and needs a lesson in management

Morning Coffee Fix. I had driven past these guys for a few months and it had always been busy. I decided it was time to check out what the fuss was about and I am kicking myself I didn't go there earlier!<br/><br/>I can only review their coffee and muffins but they are amazing. The coffee is always fast and the perfect drinking temperature, The diversity of their muffins are awesome! Dark choc and date was a first for me and their orange and poppy seed was delicious with real chunks of orange and a touch of white chocolate to lift a normally boring combination.<br/><br/>They are a friendly bunch too, what more do you want in a cafe!
James
Not a great experience . .... Not a great experience .<br/><br/>3rd time now the manager is rude ! <br/>Horrible guy to staff as well as customers .<br/>Coffee is average <br/>Food was just a pass <br/>Don't know what happened to this place but it's changed and not for the best .

Grreat cafe just getting better. As a regular at The Local over the last few years I can only say that since ownership changed a few months ago it has just got better.<br/>The coffee is the best and most consistent of any cafe I have been to in Perth. The food is great and the staff are happy and do make it feel like my "local". I like the lay back feeling and that the staff are real people, friendly and personable. I have found that they are happy to make alterations to an order so it is just how you like it. <br/><br/>If you are looking for a fabulous breakfast The Local is the place, particularly since the new chef, Ryan has started. <br/>There are some comments in past posts that I feel relate to the last owners and are no longer relevant. Since the new owners took over things have been consistent and generally improving. If you are looking for an up market Dalkeith like cafe this is not it. But if you are looking for a friendly cafe, friendly staff, great coffee and really good food I will see you at The Local. And they are kid and dog friendly. And now they make sure there is a paper to read.

Weird closing times, and bad service. The first time we tried the Local Cafe back in January 2013, it was amazing, great service and delicious food. About a month later we tried it again and the experience was very different. We walked in the door and were looking for somewhere to sit, only for a few seconds when we were abused by a waiter for being in the way. We then sat down and it was 11.45 and we were told it was too early to order lunch but if we waited until 12 we could order then. We all waited, and then when we tried to order lunch they said they were too busy and stressed out and they were just going to do breakfast for the rest of the day instead. So after that we didn't go back again until a couple of weeks ago. Hoping that it might be better after all this time, unfortunately nothing had changed. Poor service, the manager was talking badly about the staff right at the counter as my husband ordered, the food didn't come out at the same time, my meal was forgotten and we waited for a really long time for it to come and it was very average. The waiter started packing up tables and chairs around us before my food had even arrived which did not instil confidence. I really want to like it as it's walking distance from our home but it just isn't any good. The opening times of the cafe are also very strange, its basically never open. It closes before 12 on a weekend.<br/>I think with the lack of competition there, they don't even bother trying.

Honestly best brunch I've had! Mushrooms are flavoursome and not too oily. So yum. Definitely coming back!

Incredible Breakfasts!. I am putting another posting on for The Local Café as there is a new chef, Ryan, and his food is incredible. His breakfasts are presented so beautifully (like works of art) and everything tastes amazing. They would be the best breakfasts I have had anywhere and I have travelled a lot with work, so have eaten at many hotels and cafes/restaurants. A big thanks to Ryan for the great food and to Rob for bringing things together so well there and to Courtney and Rob for the consistently beautiful coffee and really friendly atmosphere!<br/><br/><br/>-----12 Jan, 2015-----<br/><br/>A Great Cafe!. The Local Café is my favourite café and has great coffee that is consistently exceptional. There is a new owner and it has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Rob, the manager and Courtney, the Barista, make a really good team and greet us personally when we are there, which is really nice. They do great breakfasts and it's also a good place for lunch with their new menu. I love going to The Local Café and go there most days. A big thanks to everyone there and wonderful to have you so close to where we live in Hamilton Hill and to Fremantle. <br/><br/>From Jewel

First timers for Brunch. After browing the reviews & photos on here we decided to pop up for breakfast.<br/>We were running late and arrived at 11:45, just missed the breakfast menu, however there are 4 breakfast options available on the lunch menu anyhow.<br/>I ordered the Nasi Goering breakfast & my otherhalf had the Makasa (veg).<br/>New ownership took over in October so we were told, a pleasing meal overall. We traveled from Baldivis just to try it not disappointed. See pics posted

Excellent service and food to die for! The BLT was delicious!

Very friendly staff! Very nice place for breakfast most delicious food with lovely presentation! Will be back :)

I've always had a good experience at this cafe. They make a good strong coffee and pleasant little sweet and savory cakes to go with it. I usually take my kids there and have always felt welcome.
Bgre_au
Grumpy Manager. Been there few times manager is always unpleasant/grumpy. Used my card this time and was charged $1 fee on a $13 purchase. Seems like customers are being exploited!!! Not sure I will go there again despite the good food.
Litl_missy
Perfect every time!. I used to visit the local regularly for the perfect food and service but now I have to plan a day around going there. Was there on the weekend and was amazed that the food is still absolutely fantastic! Would highly recommend to anyone considering dining. The coffee is better than any I have had in Fremantle and no parking issues!
BornInScotland
Really good but..... The Local Cafe is just that - a local but I wish the slightly-grumpy manager would be a bit more inviting. The food's great, good coffee, the staff are generally nice but to really make it a 'local' cafe, a little bit more recognition & interaction with regulars would really made this a local......

Nowhere comes close. The breakfast here is always delicious, the coffee is great and it's cosy and inviting. <br/>We like to get about for breakfast but after discovering this gem wer regulars. <br/>The eggs Benedict are the best iv ever tasted.
Wardbec
Crap. I went there today for a coffee with my dog. I was yelled at by the owner that I couldn't take the dog inside. I asked if I could have coffee outside, and he said ok, I waited 15 minutes for service and then left. Hopefully this place will go bankrupt and someone who actually knows how to run a business will take it over.
James
Best bacon and egg roll ! I asked for the eggs to be runny and they delivered , perfect combinations of streaky style bacon and nicely fried eggs with the nicest roll you ever had ( if you like salty things)

Love everything about the local cafe ....

Dined for late brekky on a Monday around noon with the pram. Prompt seating and polite welcome from all staff. The winter and summer brekky were freshly prepared and of excellent produce. Very impressed with presentation as well as the wonderful balance of flavours. It was great value for money and on par with the quality you would receive in fine dining restaurants found in Swan Valley. We will definitely dine again. The sweet treats next door are also delightful

I really wanted to like it but..... Having recently moved to Hilton, today I decided to try out my local cafe and given the great reviews I seen here, I was hoping that I was on to a winner. For a Sunday brunch, it is busy but not packed. The wait staff were great but they just couldn't make up for the delay in getting fed. I ordered the pancakes and had to wait over an hour and a half for them to arrive - and looking around so was everyone else. To their credit, I was offered a free coffee , but two large lattes later I was still waiting. To make things worse, when the pancakes did finally arrive they were raw on the inside. I could have whipped this up at home in a third of the time. I wanted to like it but I won't be heading back in a hurry.
Lex
Good food but seems a little overpriced.

Bad service. I had a very bad experience at this cafe. My friend and I decided to have lunch there with our 11 month old babies. We both ordered a full priced meal and coffee for ourselves. My friend was feeding her baby some fruit pieces she had brought from home and I was cutting up some avocado for my bubba. The cafe owner came out and told us off for ' consuming food not purchased at the cafe and using the cafe utensils to cut up the foreign food'. He then carried on and on about the use of the seating area and how much he has to pay the council. If we had not already paid for our meal we would have left. The cafe is not friendly for people with young children and I will not visit there again.

Best burgers in town!. The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is to die for! Especially the chicken burgers, which are by miles the best chicken burgers you'll find anywhere! love it!!

Best Brekky in Freo. Our favourite little local cafe just did it again, cured a hangover with great coffee, great food, friendly personal service and staff happy to play with the dogs too!!<br/>Not sure what Tg12 is saying about the coffee, so they changed their supplier, AND??!! Great coffee that is soon to be roasted in WA you ignoramous (check their site, looks like the old chocolate factory on South Terrace doesn't it?!) Stop being so whingey! <br/>Best Cafe and best Breakfast in Freo, give them a go, you'll be glad you did, unless you're autistically opposed to a change in coffee grinding, then you should go and get a life!! ;p
Tg12
Very Hit and Miss For coffe.... Very Hit and Miss<br/>For coffee this place can be good and other days bad. I don't see why they wouldn't use a coffee roastery from WA at least. Support local business. I don't think I will go back after noticing they use Di Bella coffee.

Beautiful breakfast !!! Just what the doctor ordered , fantastic eggs Benedict and local breakfast !! Well done Ary you own that menu!! The only downfall to this establishment is that the owner hang around like a vulture watching you eat and micro manage his staff, made you feel uncomfortable.... If you aren't working , go home mate , your staff are fine !!!
Denise B
Fabulous. I've been with this place since the first day of opening. Everyone I've taken there has been as well looked after as I have. The food is fantastic, the prices are well calculated and regulars are often spoilt. I highly recommend this place with only one foreseeable fault.....no dinner time menu.<br/><br/><br/>-----23 Jul, 2013-----<br/><br/>Great friendly place. Very helpful and aware to people with disabilities. Fabulous food too. I'm coming back again.
Gary Hon
Very yummy winter brekkie !!!
Hazel Wellington
This is my local haunt at the moment even though I live in Bertram, the chef is amazing and the owner is very friendly a really cosy place to hang out with friends what more could you want just love it
Manda
Note to cafe owner: takeaway customers are still customers. I would suggest that you be more true to your name, less fancy and set up better for people just strolling by wanting to pickup a coffee on a Sunday.

Enjoyable Lunch. Kathy and I dropped in for lunch. The Cafe has been renovated since we were last there, and we sat inside, looking out over the street. It now has a very pleasant interior. And it was a beautiful day.<br/>I had the Local Burger which was very flavoursome and a really good lunch item. Kathy had the Winter Brekkie which she absolutely loved. It was full of flavour and the eggs were poached to perfection.<br/>Highly recommended.
Karen
Fantastic. I had been going to The Local since it first opened years ago, and it has seen many different faces in that time. Have to admit that we stopped going for a few years - as the prices were pretty high and the staff pretty slap happy, and most importantly, the coffee was crap. So I was pleasantly surprised when I popped in to The Local the other day. I guess all of the changes are due to the new owners, but inside, with the new renovations, it is really lovely and cosy. The coffee was great (and I'm a coffee snob), and the food was fantastic. Prices were pretty good and the service was great. I really loved the atmosphere and am rapt that this gorgeous little cafe is a few streets away from my home. Very happy to see that this little gem is just around the corner. Will be telling people that The Local is back in business, and definitely will be returning.

Amazing food, amazing staff and cosy decor. An incredible experience.
On The Road ...
Worth the drive .... Many thanks for the enticing menu. It's a three hour trip to 'The Local' and well worth the drive. On a recent visit to Hilton one of my country companions joined me and we still reminisce about the breakfast. On this trip was delighted to see that the cafe has extended to include evening meals. My friend and I will visit again and if the food and service continue to be excellent (tasty and beautifully presented) then we might have to share the joy and hire a mini bus next time ...<br/><br/>All the best with the new venture.

You need to try this place. The food is beautiful. I had been here several times for brekkie and it was superb. Fresh ingredients, the best homemade hollandaise sauce, bacon that will make you never want normal bacon again. Just last week they opened for dinner ! Yayyyyyy !! Tried it on their 2nd night and was not disappointed. We ate so much food and the price was great too. Love the local. Well done Rob and Ary. Keep cookin !

Won't go back!. The service was terrible, it took well over an hour to get our food. The coffee was weak and the pancakes doughy and way overpriced. I asked the server twice to put the food I didn't finish in a "take away" bag. I heard him mutter under his breath "whatever." Instead he threw it away and when I spoke to the owner he curtly told me to take it up with the server. Needless to say I won't be going back. Too bad because I really like supporting local establishments.

Breakfast Specials. Been there a few times now and always ordered off the specials menu and have never been disappointed. Good serving size and I'm not sure what they do with those cherry tomatoes, but they are excellent.<br/><br/>Also, pretty good coffee.
BRH
Great breakfast - eggs benedict is amazing. The chef is a lovely guy. But the older guy, perhaps the manager/owner, needs to learn how to say 'hello' to his customers. I mean really, it's just the polite thing to do.
Dale Olson
A Regular Treat. Again at our local for lunch today... loving the new décor, whilst still retaining that "local" feel. Fantastic to see our favourites still on the menu... the biggest problem about this place is picking between them... Do I have the Avocado or the Bali Brekkie??? Decisions, decisions... haven't had an average coffee or a poor menu choice yet...! <br/>I don't know why people say you are grumpy, Rob?! :P
Jan
Sunday Breakfast. Thanks Rob and Ary<br/>Love the new reno and decor<br/>We all enjoyed our birthday breakfast: coffees excellent and service friendly and prompt.<br/>All the Locals love our Cafe and really appreciate great coffee and great food.

Yummy!!. There are certain things I look for in a "Dinning experience...)<br/>These include; <br/><br/>CUSTOMER SERVICE (with a smile :-)<br/><br/>EXCEPTIONAL FOOD (consistently) and an<br/><br/>ATMOSPHERE that compliments the Ethos of the space...<br/><br/>"The Local Cafe" has all of these, and more!<br/><br/>This little gem is a hidden treasure, and will surely be the next big thing in Fremantle!<br/> Look forward to another generous serve of the incredible EGGS BENEDICT, when the Local Cafe re-opens after an extensive new fit out of (what appears to be) the whole space.<br/><br/>A touch of class to the Hilton area, with a look and feel that wouldn't seem out of place in the heart of Melbourne. <br/><br/>This will surely be the place to be for any serous Foodies and Coffee connoisseurs. Have a look, and see for yourself. <br/>You wont be disappointed-<br/><br/>Keep up the good work guys, and look forward to seeing you again soon!

Bitterest coffee and saltiest after taste in food. Felt very uncomfertable with the service I received from this cafe. I will not waste my money again.
Vege13
Slow Service. Was here for mothers day, it may have been an unusually busy day, however we had to wait over an hour for our food, with two small children this was challenging. Staff appeared to be a little stressed by the workload. Maybe will be better on a day that is not so busy.
Ryan
If you like bitter coffee you will love it, if you don't like your coffee grapefruit bitter then have a cup of tea instead.
Foodle
Love this place. Good food at good prices. Pleased its our local ;)
Eatwithhendri
The food was yummy, mocha was good, generously served with reasonable price. Will be back again soon

Great cafe brilliant food wonderful staff best breakfast ever. Just wish people with children understood that not everyone thinks their treasures running around is cute. Especially when the staff are serving hot drinks to tables. Wouldn't be so cute if they end up wearing a hot drink and being admitted to the burns unit. Perhaps owners should have a sign that children should be seated just like the adults and the dogs. Otherwise fab. Mother of two
Renee
It really is the local. The food at this place is great and the serving sizes generous. If you're from Hilton (or Hamilton Hill, WGV, Beaconsfield, etc) then you're pretty much guaranteed to run into someone you know. The staff are lovely and the coffee is much, much better than you'd expect from a cafe in lil' ol' Hilton.
LikesLocal
Good but.... Had lunch recently - food was great. But when we went to order coffee at 1.40pm they had already turned off the machine and were cleaning it. Yes, it was quiet with only a couple of other diners left but we were disappointed as we'd already indicated when we ordered our food we intended to order cake and coffee afterwards. It would have been great if someone had just mentioned they were about to clean the machine and get our order in before they did. We went to another local coffee place for cake and coffee.
Goody63
Just tried this place for the first time. Impressed straight away by the friendly staff and GF options. Coffee was fantastic and both our brekky meals delicious and great value. Will be going back.
Tommy
Great food! Great experience!. This is one of those magical places where the needs of the customers are the number one priority. So many great choices on the menu and all exceptionally fresh. The coffee is delicious and the service incredible. It was pleasure to meet you Ary - great job!!
Grace W
The local is now my go to cafe for consistently delicious and well priced breakfast and lunch. The quality of the produce, generous portions and professional yet friendly staff is what keeps me and my family going back (when there is a table free!).
Russell
Food and coffee were bothe vety nice, but the guy who served mr and my young son had a rotten attitude. Food took quite a while to arrive (it was a busy saturday). A bit of customer service and I would love this place. As it is I'll probably wait another 6 months before going back.
John
Always great organic food. Beautiful sea breeze today dining outside.

Mrs. Hofstadler. Had ordered Nasi Goreng, must admit...delicious...and my little girl had strawberry pancake...she loved it!! worth trying! and the atmosphere just loved it!! thank you for the delicious food and friendly staff, definately come back there again!
Mark F
Arrogant owner bad attitude great food but who cares when you are treated like crap.
Donna Matthews
A local delight!. I'd heard this little place did a mean breakfast and thought it deserved checking out for lunch. The guys were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food - I was happy with the range of gluten-free options and chose a Thai Beef Salad........... heaven! Well proportioned, fresh good quality ingredients and a perfectly balanced Thai dressing. Yep, heaven. My coffee frappe was also to die for - why don't more cafes serve frappe over our hot summers?<br/>My mate chose the Bali Breakfast from the all-day breakfast menu, a tasty nasi goreng with 2 chicken satay sticks, a poached egg and 3 sambals. He enjoyed the food very much, and was seriously impressed with his freshly squeezed orange juice. <br/>We couldn't fit in coffee afterwards, but we'll certainly be going back on another day!
Darrell Jolly
Awesome breakfast and I think this could be my new favourite cafe!
Wakeusup
Yummyyyy!. Went with friends for sunday brunch. The 'Bali Breakfast' blackboard item was delicious, as were all the other meals: eggs benedict, the winter brekky and the croissants. Much improved with the new owner, happy staff and yummy well-priced food. Will return :)
Mel
I LOVE this cafe at the moment. It was a bit rubbish a couple of years ago, but (presumably under new management) it has improved immensely. Really high quality food and coffee, generous portions and the best service I've experienced in a long time. It's also wonderful having the patisserie next door. We always grab a tasty treat from there to have when we get home after a meal at 'The Local'.
Caz Parker
Unfriendly and expensive. Would never return.
CoffeeBitch
$21 for 4 slices of toast and 2 Capps and not much customer service at all

The bar from Cheers eat your heart out! Here's where the owner knows everyone's names. Great coffee made with care. The breakfasts around me looked incredible. Limited seating inside, but I'll be back in summer to try the brekky menu outside.

'High End' in Hilton. What a refreshing change - class, humor & SENSATIONAL food. A vibrant and distinctive cafe that caters for a clientele of predominantly middle class upbringing, that have delusions of grandeur! Yes, we who yearn to live in Cottesloe with all the pretensions of wealth & travel abroad & a local beach down the road ....... Get it here in downtown Hilton - all hinging on SUPERB food. Try Ary's fabulous Balinese breakfast, or his home ground lamb/beef pattie ensconced in a delectable Abhi roll with the surprising salad & secret recipe dressing. The pumpkin soup is to die for; being the 'Best' my girlfriend from Coogee had ever had - that would be a well travelled 48 yr old teacher. Another teacher friend who dined at the 'Local' recently & lives in the yuppie part of Vic Park, has made arrangements for a professional luncheon based on the delicious food & fabulous ambience to be found at the 'Local'. Rob & Matt make superb coffee, have a range of tea's, which combined with Ary's homemade muffins or orange & almond cake. Suffice to say - we regulars love the place. Rob & Ary have managed to create a niche space in Hilton that caters to the professional cohort who have infiltrated Hilton & surrounding suburbs. No more does one have travel to Freo or God forbid Cott - for a decent meal, coffee & great company! Well done boys, Julie & Daaron

Epic Sunday brunch, friendly staff & value for money. The only thing missing was a post-meal belly rub.

Áry's Beatific Eggs Benedict. Under the new management of Robert & Áry this beaut little unpretentious cafe has very quickly become the centre of chitchat in Hilton, South Fremantle. Whether you are looking for a frantic, emergency coffee on the way to work, a leisurely catch-up with the other mums, a quiet morning for the retirees or a long and peaceful brekkie over the Saturday morning papers this is the place for you. It may be hidden in the Hilton streets but is well worth you seeking this place out.<br/><br/>And for the most beatific Eggs Benedict get your self down to The Local Café on any Saturday.... Yes it’s the weekend special and worth waiting the 5 weekdays to enjoy it. Perfect poached eggs served on Abhis bread (no soft doughy English muffins for these boys) with delicious Hollandaise sauce and to the delight of this bacon lover there are not a skerrick of smoked salmon but rather lashings of crispy fried free-range bacon... mmmmh, the blessed beast.<br/><br/>All this and yes the coffee is great, the service is low key and friendly... OK so on very busy weekends you may have a little wait for your food but rest assured the results will be worth it.<br/><br/>PS Nearly forgot this place is also dog friendly... as long as your best friend is well behaved and doesn’t pee or dig in Roberts garden.<br/><br/>Thanks from Hannah (the wired-haired fox terrier) and friends
Carly
Such a lovely, unpretentious cafe that serves excellent food and coffee everytime. The staff are always friendly and up for a chat. It's dog friendly and the prices are great too, which makes me so lucky to have this just down the road!
Jodie N Andy
Hooray for Hilton!!. What a refreshing experience to have such fabulous and unique food at our doorstep. The eggs benedict is absolutley faultless... the fresh hollaindaise sauce is shmick, with the added surprise of scrummy bacon instead of limp ham.. and wow, the pesto sauce is the icing on the cake, with a nice chunky piece of foaccacia to sop up the pesto.<br/><br/>As for the penultimate pancakes - WOW!! Fresh berry sauce perfectly compliments the light fluffy texture of the buttermilk pancakes - just divine - salivation city.<br/><br/>Awesome coffee served by friendly, witty and funny staff - making the regulars feel warmly welcomed - including the dogs who get a treat too!! It's now our weekly Sunday morning ritual and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Well done Rob and Ary... great to have you here!!

Saturday Brekkie. Well, I don't want to tell anyone about this Cafe. If i do, then everyone will go there. We had the blackboard special, a juice and a coffee. Fantastic food, best coffee for ages and good old fashioned friendly service. We'll be back, no worries about that.<br/>G & M

Worth a 2nd chance. After reading Michelle's comments about Sunday Nov.10th I feel like I need to defend our favorite cafe. Yes, it was a bit of a stuff up on that morning but don't we all have "One- of- those-days" every once in a while?<br/>As a rule, and I mean 99% of the time, the food is great, the service is good and the prices are reasonable.<br/>Sunday mornings between 8 and 10am seem to be extra busy and keeping in mind that a small kitchen like theirs can only produce so much FRESHLY PREPARED food in that time span I think we need to forgive the Chef for not coping once in a while. Sundays between 8 and 10am are a bit like rush hour on the freeway.<br/>I suggest that you forgive and forget and try it again maybe on another day or after 10 am if Sunday is your day to treat yourself to a great breakfast and you too will join the fan club of the local cafe.<br/><br/><br/>-----15 May, 2013-----<br/><br/>GOT TO LOVE IT, Mum's Day at The Local Cafe. Personally I try to avoid going out to eat on days like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Melbourne Cup Day etc. etc. because these are the days every Tom, Dick and Harry is going out to eat and as a result any place with a reasonably good name is busy, busy, busy and the food is average at best, the service poor and the wait is anything from 1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hrs.<br/>My kids treated me to Mother's day brunch at THE LOCAL CAFE this year because they knew that I love a good breakfast with poached eggs and a REAL HOME MADE HOLLANDAISE. Predictably is was extremely busy and yes there was a wait for both food and coffees but anybody with half a brain would have expected this.<br/>Here's what we found amazing: As a special trbute to Mothers the tables were set with pots of flowers which the Mums got to take home; what a nice touch! In spite of it being fully booked and packed the food was as delicious as it is on a slow day, the service was excellent (we were offered free coffees to compensate for the wait) and the Mother's Day special menu was reasonably priced at $25 per adult and $12 for kids INCLUDING COFFEE or JUICE.<br/>Most everybody seemed to enjoy sharing a freshly cooked scrumptious meal with their loved ones on this special day including myself and we can't wait for THE LOCAL CAFE to be opening for dinner which apparently will be in the near future.<br/>A big "Thank you" to the cafe staff for making the extra effort.<br/><br/><br/>-----01 Jan, 2013-----<br/><br/>OMG our favourite cafe is closed for the holidays. We hope that the boys are having a great time on their break in Bali BUT we miss our LOCAL. Can't wait for it to re-open and to drop in for one of their yummy breakfasts or lunches. Hilton is just not the same without THE LOCAL., Hurry back guys, we miss you and can't find another place in all of Freo that compares.<br/><br/><br/>-----01 Apr, 2012-----<br/><br/>Perfection on a plate. This is the MUST TRY IT cafe in the Freo area. Great breakfasts and lunches obviously cooked with love and attention to detail. The food presentation is unique and the quality of the food is consistantly excellent; I've become addicted; won't go anywhere else anymore. The portions are generous and the prices are realistic. This little cafe has been under new ownership for close to a year now and the boys are doing a great job. Their ARY'S EGGS BENEDICT are the best I've ever had. I give it 10 out of 10 any day.
