Review Broody Hen Cafe - Fremantle

Chilled little nook to relax and grab breakfast, lunch or a delicious snack. I treated myself brunch with smashed avocado and oat milk iced latte. Great coffee❤️ Outdoor seating also available. Lovely friendly staff

Had a wander here for Sunday breakfast whilst spending the weekend in Freo. Such a great spot with an excellent breakfast menu. The "kitchen" is tiny and the food that comes out is delicious. We had the smashed avo with a free range egg, and the Bacon and Egg bagel. Could not fault either. The Broody Hen is somewhere we will be coming back to, next time in Freo.

I love the spot, the real leaf chai was great, coffee lovely and the food choices appear really good; but I don't really want to go home hungry afterward. This must have been the smallest, wafer thinnest slices of fruit toast I have ever been served (and also very, very sweet). The menu said it would come with "butter & preserve", but when I asked where the preserve was, I got some kind of explanation why not everyone, and sometimes, and ... I don't know. It's not that I was THAT desperate for the preserve, I just thought it should be there, since it was listed on the menu. In any case, by the time it arrived, I had finished my toast, there was so very little of it. I think this comes under "has potential, needs tweaking". Oh, and to top it off, I was nearly catapulted backwards off my chair, as one of the legs disappeared down a little "sinkhole" in the foot path....

Loved the coffee I had here today! The lady on deck was so warm and friendly and offered great service. It’s in a cute little building on a street corner near Fremantle Arts Centre and is a standout for decor and atmosphere. My coffee was made quickly and had some gorgeous chocolatey notes.

Love this little local cafe sit & have a chat or read inside & outside. Also easy to grab a quick drink & food to go when in Freo.

Grassroots. Just opened. WOW! The owners personality is right through this place. It is unique. The vibe and location is perfect. Set on a main intersection the traffic actually seems like inviting entertainment out their large front window. Sister team working and well, no more to be said. They are the consummate professionals. Fremantle respect on the wall and "the broody hen" ha maybe that's her. Sparkling and still water in tap!!! Wow good thinking girls and free for customers.. this is magic! Toilets clean and smell wonderful. The place has a great vibe, original design features and a large open table for newspaper readers! This place is very exciting and if it can be consistent will gain a huge following and quite possibly rival it's busy neighbour Gesha to the breakfast crowd. The food, I took away a pumpkin wrap for my ms, and I get a toasted roast vege sandwich with feta - couldn't not have been done better - perfect. Sister rates her sister owner's coffee. Ordered long mac traditional with almond milk - sorry tough coffee (coffee aficionado drink in my opinion - so it's a tough to get right) beautifully extracted, milk perfect, presented in a little tin cup awesome! But... there's a but... not hot enough. Tip: need to hear cups, check machine temp, froth temp (almond milk may have a low burn point I don't know) that's a good start. I did feed this back to sister. Fremantle visitors and locals you must not miss this place. And even a play area for the kids! Parking good. Sparkling water in tap! That says it all. Consider: jazz bar by night

Delicious food, great coffee and really attentive staff. Small food menu that won't disappoint, much better vibe and customer service than Gesha.

We're lucky enough to live across the road from this great little cafe. Tried a flat white and a carrot cake. Delicious little cake with a light frosting. The coffee was perfect! Good roast and some serious barista skills coming together. It's been great watching these folks working hard to get the doors open. Well done!

Fantastic coffee and the coconut muffin was to die for. Love the little kiddies corner too. Great idea!

What a cute place! Looking forward to seeing it grow. The owners and staff are really lovely and the roaster/barista knows his stuff! I loved my single origin Long Black, it was thick and hot and flavoursome to the last sip. I'll be back for sure

Lovely bespoke cafe with really terrific coffee, well prepared and presented. Easy walk from the station and a nice stop after the pool or gym. This area seems to be emerging as a little hospitality precinct with The Mantle, Gesha Coffee closeby and a new bar being developed in the old La Maiolica premises. Nice to see some new business people having confidence in this area. Gonna be great for all the new apartment dwellers.

Lovely little cafe. Great coffee, homemade food and friendly service.

Busy little place on a Saturday morning. Plenty of customers considering Gesha is across the road. The coffee was ok and so was the toast, eggs and avocado. Staff are friendly and overall fairly nice.

Went here one morning before work and it was great! Very close to a competitor but that doesn't seem to faze this cafe - its own unique style carries it through! Very child-friendly with a play nook in the corner, and laptop-friendly benches near power outlets for freelance working.

The furniture here is incredibly sturdy, and at the perfect height while seated. It has a very hand-made feel which perfectly adds to the ambience of the cafe. The pastries cabinet has a nice range, and the coffee was of a good quality. Well-positioned near a primary school, a bus stop for buses along canning highway, a tyre-fitting shop (so you can wait nearby if your car is in for a service) and Officeworks.

Nice little place. Coffee was good, not overly hot like too many places seem to like doing. I had the brownie, which was very nice and just the right size with my skinny cap. My other half had the carrot cake, which she stated was amazing, with a flat-white.

Coffee was nice but was luke warm. If you buy a toastie you have to wait 15 mins. Very nice but too long when you are working nearby and just want quick food. Friendly service nice clean cafe

"Delightful" is often used to describe cafes, and it is very much warranted here! This is a lovely, bright, small cafe with friendly staff. When I mentioned that I was cafe hopping to get some work done, they said "You're always welcome here."

Great little addition to the precinct, something different from gesha which is big and busy, this is more like going to your cosy corner coffee shop, with friendly helpful staff, a nice place to sit with a friend or a lap top, and a wholesome looking selection of snacks and light meals. Coffee good - and 50 cents off for bringing a keep cup for take away, good on you.

I really enjoy the new Broody Hen and suggest all go down to visit. The girl who runs the cafe is lovely and everything is made with love. It's a nice change from the abrasive hipster places that keep popping up. I'll be there often xxxx

We were recommended this place for a great coffee - right next to Geisha so we knew it was either going to be good, or out of business soon! The coffee is really, seriously good. That's enough reason to go, right there. The food is great, service is fast and friendly. The interior looks like it's not geared for sitting down to eat when you look through the window, but when you sit down, somehow it's perfect.

After whittling down our favourite coffees in Fremantle, this has knocked the Attic and the roasting warehouse off the number one spot. Go try It, you won't be disappointed.

My partner also rates the fruit toast as #1 in freo as Well!

Discovered this cute little coffee shop with home bakes and goodies on my way to another place. I came back for a light brekkie on Sunday, and had the place to myself, but several people came in to collect their take-away coffees. Friendly owners that greet you with a smile and the café has a nice happy warm presence. Coffee was wonderful served in a mug. I tried the sough dough toast with hummus, cherry tomatoes and basil. It was presented nicely on a black plate with matching metal utensils. Enjoyed the brekkie and spending my time watching life go by and reading my Sunday paper. Will come back for their sweet treats next time; some nice cakes and muffins.
