Review Pagoda Restaurant - Frewville

Absolutely one of the best Chinese restaurants we've been to in Adelaide. Don't expect fine dining and beautiful presentation but this was by far the tastiest and best value for money Chinese food in Adelaide. Banquet was $30 each and included so much food we had to take it home. The absolute star was the satay skewers - I've never had so much sweet and spicy peanut sauce piled onto my starter before and I loved it! Look at my photos!

My daughter and I had the 30 dollar banquet. The prawns and veg was the only dish that was a little bland but the rest were great. Service was fast. Would have been nice to have drinks refreshed. Large servings and good value. Will definitely be back.

$10 corkage. Good prices for banquet for 3 @$30ea. Disappointed there seemed to be almost no traditional Chinese vegetables - greens, bamboo shoot, shitake/straw mushrooms or other fungi. Pork ribs just too sweet. No lychees for dessert, but gave us some "bubbles" and then fortune cookies. Nice personal service staff.

Usually the food here is amazing. Tonight our food was horrible. All dishes full of oil. Our table was covered with oil after opening these dishes. The fried rice was stodgy. Not a great experience. Ordered through Uber Eats.

Stay away, I was on the toilet two hours after eating the sweet and sour pork. Very disappointing and I won't be returning. I know it says the restaurant was established in 1965 but it feels like the pork I ate was from that era as well.

Amazing Satay Chicken the best I have tasted full of flavour and just the right amount of sauce not to mention the size is well worth the money, the staff are fantastic and go above and beyond highly! Recommended!

Just another regular chinese restaurant.
I ordered for fried dimsums, chicken in blackbean sauce and steam rice.
All had generous portions.Nothing special or unique in taste than other chinese restaurants in city.
Staff was friendly.i had a bill of 50 dollars and then they charged me 50cents for a remaining food takeaway container.lol.

Food was quite nice. We ordered 5 dishes for 6 of us. The servings were very generous and staffs were friendly. The decor and setting was quite old and unattractive. I think we will be coming back there again, especially with the Entertainment Book Coupon, i think it's worth it.

As a regular, I think this is the best Chinese Restaurant in Adelaide. The service is great and the food (usually curried prawns ) fantastic! I've taken a lot of people there and I haven't had any complaints. All have loved it

Very disappointed. We got a banquet for 4. Chicken and corn soup tasted very plain and the meat tasted like it came out of a can. Spring rolls seemed to be from the coles freezer section. All the mains had a burnt flavour. Mongolian lamb, prawns, honey chicken and bbq ribs (which weren't actually ribs at all) were all quite poor, we didn't finish a single main. The manager was very nice, And apologetic, and she didn't charge us which was very nice of her. I can't complain about the service at all but the food was a massive let down.

As a spur of the moment choice, we head to Pagoda which is a Chinese restaurant a few doors down. It happens to be one of the first Chinese restaurants in South Australia offering classic Chinese dishes without the MSG.

Diner from Adelaide. We had a banquet there the other night with friends and had a below average experience. The food was blend and customer service was non existent. We asked for a bottle of mineral water for the table and we received it 20 minutes later. We tried to get the waitresses attention numerous times but they were not paying any attention. The first dish to be served was chicken corn soup that tasted like dishwater, followed by prawn crackers and spring rolls. We hadn't finished eating our entrée when the waitress brought the fried rice and sizzling Mongolian beef. By the time we finished eating the entree the rice and the beef was cold. Then there was almost a 30 minute wait before the next dish came out which was the stir fry prawns, followed by another 30 minutes before they brought out the next dish. By that stage we were all getting tired and annoyed and just wanted to leave. We tried to get the waitress's attention to ask to bring out the remaining dishes all at once but she walked straight pass our table and ignored us. I will not be going back to the restaurant ever again, as it was an absolute waste of time and money.

Great. Food. Went to the Pagoda for lunch today and the food was superb! We had Cantonese chicken, satay beef and fried rice. The chicken and the beef were so tender they were almost melt in the mouth! The broccoli which came with the chicken was beautifully cooked and obviously fresh. The flavours of both dishes were good and the serves were large. We even ended up with some food to take home! The service was good especially since there was only one waitress who was doing everything! Haven't been there in years, but will certainly go back.

Main meal sizes are substantial which is great, however flavour isn't there and the freshness leaves something to be desired. I had chilli beef and was told it comes with plenty of veggies... It came with broccoli only and it was cold! Meat was chewy. Others at the table had veggies in their dishes but you could see that they were processed vegetables... Looked like they came straight out of a frozen mccains bag... Pretty gross for the money you pay per dish.

Reliable quality food. The pagoda is reliable. They're fast, tasty and friendly service. After you become a bit of a regular, if you offer them a chat, they'll gladly pay back the service. Otherwise staff are mostly shy and keep to themselves. I've had no problems getting a refund when something didn't taste right and sincere apologies offering free stuff. This only happened once in the 8 years we lived in Glen Osmond. Also found the prices to be affordable and we enjoyed the Chinese New Year celebrations there too.

We always ordered the honey chicken, beef and black bean, curry chicken and garlic prawns. Always delicious food.

They remember their customers too!

Love Pagoda, great for takeaway and my favourite singapore noodles in Adelaide

Service terrible, food average!!!. Went there on a Friday night and ordered the Banquet. There was a fish menu on the banquet, but as me and my partner are both allergic to fish decided to change it to another dish. Asked the person serving us if we can do it, she didn't understand us to start. Had to ask another person, who said it will be $1 extra each person.
We got our prawn crackers as the first course, took almost 45 mins to get next course: spring roll and dim sims.
Another 30 mins and we get fried rice, veggies and mongolian beef. The only positive Mongolian beef, was delicious. Took another 30 mins to get sweet and sour pork and chicken cashews. By that time, after the wait both of us were tired and ready to go home. Not a good experience, WON'T BOTHER GOING AGAIN!!!

They say they're the oldest Chinese restaurant in Adelaide, and it sort of shows. A lot of the dishes seem like they're outdated and a bit uninspired. Don't bother eating in, try getting takeaway and see for yourselves... I'm still undecided but I think three disappointing attempts is enough.

Ordered take away from pagoda. The serving size was generous. Although their vegetable combinations are strange similar... Recommended
