Review Two Sugars On Pako - Geelong

Came at 2pm, very busy. The smell of the kitchen came once I walked in the door. The wonderful smell of Italian food. Ordered a seafood pasta and spaghetti carbonara. Food came somewhat late but the taste definitely made up for it. Oh damn, it's good. 4 stars because of the slow time, 5 if the food was on time.

Literally there for only late coffee. But then, captured my eyes on other tables with delicious looking food. So decided to order dessert, which was tiramisu and Gelato ice cream. Tiramisu was great enough to deserve 5 stars! Tiramisu was more likely sorbet tasty, but I was happy enough Next time, I will be there for pasta and pizza, they've got nice dessert, so I believe they have good main meal!

What an amazing lunch. I had muscles and my wife and friends had pizza. Fast and hot. Staff were attentive and cleared tables fast. Dessert was to die for. A beautiful Italian experience. You are amazing all of you. Thanks Chefs, Thanks Floor Staff, Thanks all of you for such an amazing experience

This place is one of my favourites, if you like Italian as I do, you won't be disappointed. Great service, lovely atmosphere, make sure you book first to ensure a table!!

highly recommend !! very yummy food served by the friendliest staff. the venue itself has a really warm, comfortable atmosphere. we always feel so at home and welcome here. also wanted to acknowledge the new waiter who served us tonight ( didn't get his name ), who had such a positive uplifting energy. keep up the amazing work.

We had a superb experience at Two Sugars on Pako. The staff were attentive and the food arrived lightning quick. I had seen a photograph of their margherita pizza with bufala on Google which looked so good that I had to try it. I couldn't help but smile as I took my first bite. Memories of Milan and Rome came flooding back. I had found it, a true Italian pizza. The dough from the wood oven was soft and fluffy with the perfect thickness, with some of the edges deliciously charred from the embers. The tomato sauce was rich and salty, the way I remember it being in Milan. The cheese, well ... you get the picture. Safe to say I ate the entire thing in a matter of minutes. The next item on the menu was arancini with meat sauce. Simple and delicious. To savour the moment a little longer I got the garlic butter prawns with pane di casa. The bread was buttery, the prawns just right (with tails removed). To finish the night I had the espresso martini which was thick and velvety, the best I've had. If I had any complaint it would be the state of the men's bathroom which needs some repairs. The name Two Sugars doesn't exactly scream 'Italian' either. Regardless, I had a blast of a time. Two Sugars is a welcome relief from the pandemic, a flavour vacation close to home.

This is the third time I have been delighted to attend the authentic Italian Restaurant “Two Sugars” - it did not disappoint. The waiter warmly greeted us all and showed us to our seats. A thriving, warm atmosphere! We were delighted with our food choices- seafood linguine, really fresh salad, duck ravioli, fish and chips and my old favourite CARBONARA! Superb. Our waiter chose and exquisite Italian Chardonnay to accompany the food. Will be back there very soon. What a magnificent dining experience. Thank you!

Always a great place to eat at, the pizza, risotto and pasta are all great, the staff are friendly and inviting, keep up the great work!

Came to Two Sugars for Sunday lunch with some friends. It was quite busy so we thought we’d dine here.
🍽 chilli and avocado smash - just a humble smashed avo with no frills. Two Sugars big breakfast - huge portion and therefore well worth the $25. Gourmet beef burger - beef patty was cooked well. Steak chips crispy on the outside. Wouldn’t say it’s ‘gourmet’ other than the fact it comes with a array of toppings.
💁‍♀️ service was very good. Food came out quick.

Overall, Two Sugars will deliver large portions and tasty meals, however, it isn’t as trendy or well executed as some other cafes in the area.

We are so disappointed to be writing this review as we used to enjoy this place. I arrived on time with my two children for a 6:15pm booking as a treat for them as they always ask to go to Two Sugars. Well they won’t anymore.

We were shown to a table & then forgotten for nearly 20minutes. No one asked us if we want a drink and after asking three staff to take our our order eventually the girl who seated us came and took our order.

She was SO RUDE as if she had somewhere else to be and she looked annoyed as hell. She then had a shouting match with another waiter back and forth over who should be looking after our table. They had several goes at each other.

After asking several times and seeing food delivered to a table that arrived and ordered after us. When I asked at 6:55pm where our food was, she told me that I should know that a steak takes 7-9minutes and then said it takes 20mins. I asked why they didn’t bring out the children’s’ meals first like they have done every other time we have been there.

They then started making my son’s margarita pizza which they served with the cheese hardly melted and the tomato still cold in places.

He then started to eat in front of my seven year old (who can’t eat tomato), who by this stage was in tears he was so hungry.

When the boys meals arrived fish & chips (which came with salad dripping in dressing) and chicken schnitzel. Someone had shaken salt over both the children’s meals so heavily I had to wipe the food. My son who ordered the Schnitz received three dried out pieces of chicken covered in salt. No veg, no salad and under cooked chips again so covered I. Salt he could not eat them.

My medium rare steak finally arrived. I ordered it with the “The mixed mushrooms & porchini sauce”. It arrived with loads of cherry tomatoes all over the steak and when I asked if it was the mushroom sauce I was told yes!!! Like “you idiot”. Eventually I found half a tiny mushroom...essentially it is tomato sauce. If I had know it was tomato sauce I would not have ordered it. Tomatoes make me break out in a rash! The steak was seared so heavily on the ends that it tasted burnt and was medium to well done in side. It was mostly grey with slight pink in the very middle. Definitely not medium rare. To top it off my meal was covered in salt...on the potatoes, the steak and the veggies which were swimming in oil and salt. Yuck. The potatoes were too salty to eat, I ate the less burnt bits of the steak and scraped off the horrible sauce and my half a tiny mushroom.

We are so sad as this restaurant has been a family favourite for so long and we usually tip at least 20% because of the service. I now will be telling everyone about our terrible treatment.
My eldest burst into tears in the car because he had especially asked to go there.

Not good enough...it was going to be a fun family evening and we all just came home hungry and upset. I then had to turn around and cook dinner so they could have a proper meal.

Ordered two pastas. Made us wait 45min for delivery in Geelong West (area where restaurant is located) and in the end guys from restaurant called me and canceled the order.

Two sugars on Pako is a buzzing casual eatery. There is a lively atmosphere which wouldn’t work for an intimate dinner, but is great for families and friends looking for a great filling food. I ordered the arancini - and it was excellent!
Fast friendly and attentive service.

Went for dinner last night with my family last night and left a little disappointed, very busy as normal, that’s ok it’s Saturday night.Waited about 45 minutes for food when my wife’s arrived it looked great and tasted nice, my prawn pizza arrived and was flooded in olive oil and left a weird taste afterwords. My daughters gnocchi were undercooked,my oldest son had salt and pepper squid with no salt and pepper on it and a half tossed salad, left 3/4 behind and the waitress came and picked up the plate with a puzzled look of why didn’t eat it,My youngest boy ate all of his buffalo pizza and said all good. 2 out of 5 isn’t bad. Then again there is plenty of other places to eat next time.

The standard of food in this restaurant is always consistent and the staff very pleasant. Every time we have been here, always in the evening, the place has been packed and herein lies the problem. The noise levels are extreme to the point that normal conversation is impossible hence the 3 rating. If you are planning an evening meal with friends and intend to talk to each other then try somewhere else. This said the food experience is good if somewhat pricey.

Amazing, delicious food and incredibly friendly service. The staff pay attention to what the customer needs and wants. Great atmosphere to be in lunch or dinner!!

Dont let the name put you off. This kind of family friendly, neighbourhood Italian place is just what Geelong has needed.Theres one in Highton too.Good for groups and children but big enough for couples to find a corner and good access for disabilities.Nice cosy booths and warm atmosphere.Delicious woodfired pizzas and authentic Italian food with decent wine list. Gorgeous staff straight 'off the boat'!Everyone seems to order the nutella waffles but Ive always been too full after fresh calamari or proscuitto and artichoke pizza or creamy rissotto!
Uomini splendidi'!!
Brando The Pig
Friendly service in a big comfortable dining space. The pizzas weren't running for a Monday lunch and nothing stood out to me on the all day breakfast menu, so ordered the pesto gnocchi. The texture wasn't dense, wasn't pillowly either, but the serving size was generous. Overall I would say the $23 gnocchi is on the expensive end, and would recommend this place for dinner rather than lunch
Hailey
The food here is decent however we were made to feel bad when we informed the staff member our order was wrong. Loved it the first time but not so much the second.

I had dinner with my girlfriend a few weeks ago and it was a great experience. Our meal was just perfect, especially the pizza, nice and crunchy; not like certain soggy pizza places that says to be the best...

We had a very warm welcome, it seemed to be at home. All the staff was very friendly and corteous.
Thanks for an amazing dinner, Manolo, Davide & Davide, Ninni, and of course pizza cheffs.

By far the nicest restaurant I've ever been to. The food is ALWAYS delicious and made with care, and I have never had better service. My partner and I have made ourselves regulars since we discovered it 6 months ago. Always recommend it to a friend, and we've even had a couple of birthday dinners there.

Went to go get a coffee and a cake. Had to wait for 10 minutes before even assisted although there were 5 waiters just standing around. Once i had finally placed my order i had to wait 15 minutes while they taught someone to make my coffee which was only half full although i paid for a large. Overall poor service.

OMG NOM !!!!!!!!

Divine food well made beautifully served brilliant service will defiantly be back and bring others with us
Thank you for making our anniversary. very special

Well I had high expectations with 2 sugars, all my friends had talked it up ...... You'll love it, it's great !!!
Well ..... The interior is great, really well fitted out , the staff are fantastic, helpful, quick and very friendly , but the food was average ! Nothing really wrong with it, just a little boring. I ordered the Salmon and it was over cooked ( dry ) a friend ordered pasta and it too was slightly over cooked. But the wood oven pizza was great ! That's about it, until next time...... The Bitch !

Stumbled onto this little treasure. Good food yummy cocktails and delicious desserts! Well priced too! Definitely will be back!

This is the real deal! Amazing Italian food in a rustic setting. I highly recommend this place for a casual weekend lunch feast. You have to try the Pizzas fresh from the wood fired oven.

Staff were very unfriendly and didnt make eye contact, barely spoke to me as i walked in the door, i felt i was asking them a favour when i ordered a coffee at the counter. There was alot of staff walking about doing not much. Service is everything. I may have enjoyed this experience otherwise.

Cafe two sugars on Pako, nice lunch popped in on the way home from Apollo bay we ordered:

Arancini (x 3 per serve) and salad
> lovely , moist and oozing of mozzarella as they should be, balsamic dressing on the salad to help cleanse the palet, and lamb sugo to saturate the arancini .

Meat balls (X3 per serve) crusty bread. The meat balls were delicious , Sean describes, they were moist beef with seasoning gentle to taste hard to identify . Just the way seasoned food should be , drizzled with Napolitano sugo.

Salt & pepper squid: was presented well however was somewhat dry and lacking the full bodied taste of fresh squid. Salad was too rich in dressing , maybe this would have been better served on the side.

Good clean environment , friendly and informative staff , a sense of locals are welcomed here as this would be a step up from the place next door, not comparing to Melbourne of course . It does well for the local environment and competition , fish & grill next door or the people's potatoes across the road.

If you have been here , I would love to hear your feed back .
Sean
Stopped here for a late lunch on the way home from Apollo Bay. Pakington St is a little bit groovier than Geelong city. Had the Meatballs with Napoli sauce and toasted bread. The serving (entree) was just right (3 meatballs) with plenty of sauce to soak up with the bread. My fellow diners had Arancini (a winner) and Salt and Pepper Squid (disappointing). Washed it down with a flat Coca Cola. Not too much competition at this time of the day so the place was busy.

My long awaited Saturday breakfast after not having a weekend off in ages!!
Poached eggs, bacon, spinach, mushrooms and tomato

While it was good to a decent standard I have to say I was pretty disappointed when my $4 side of mushrooms was just 1 mushroom and my $3 side of tomato was just 1 tomato

When I asked the wait staff I was told that this is what a serve is .....

Pretty sure no mushroom or tomato taste that good

Had lunch today in this establishment. And I have to say we were pretty disappointed in the service and time it took for our single pizza to arrive. While a couple next to us arrived 15 minutes after us and got both their meals almost immediately. I actually had to advise the waiter that we were still waiting for our pizza. And said to him what's the deal with those people next to us being served first. The man had a pizza and the woman a full meal of what looked like calamari. Finally a
fter an hour there our pizza was presented to us, with no explanation or apology for the long wait. We've just moved to Geelong and were not impressed. Won't be back to this place ever again.
Coxy
Great atmosphere, great pizza. What more can you want. The best traditional pizza in town for sure, Italian flying through the air from the waitstaff and fantastic feel.
Buffala is the bomb.

fantastic service, not kept waiting forever . Love the coffee and macaroons are the best in Geelong. I've had light meals and they always come with a beautiful salad and is tasty and fresh, a toasted sandwich even has beautiful salad with it...yummy

Bad service, long wait.

The facts: two diners order two meals at lunchtime on Monday. My friend orders from the regular menu, I order from the specials board. After 20 minutes, the waiter tells us the special is not available. He shrugs his shoulders when asked why it took 20 minutes to let us know and says "we're busy". I order something else and he says our meals will be there right away.
After another 15 minutes, we flag him down. Again he says our meals are just on the way. No apology for the wait. My friend goes to the toilet and notices her meal sitting under the heat lamp on the pass at the kitchen. After another 10 minutes, our meals arrive. This is now 45 minutes after ordering.
I question the waiter, why so long. Again no apology, same offhand attitude. I ask to speak to the manager. He says there isn't one. I ask him to go away and find out what to do. When he comes back he says he's spoken to the boss and and can give us a drink. I tell him that's not good enough.
When we go to pay, he's offered a 10% discount. I question him, how has he been able to speak to the boss when he said there's no manager. He says he called the boss on the phone. So I ask him to get the manager on the phone for me so I can speak to them directly. He evades this request and gets another waiter to deal with us. She then talks over me.

Maybe I'm being picky, but I can't recommend a place where I have to order twice, wait 45 minutes for a meal and wait staff are offhand and lie to you. Would you?

Love it! Strawberry and nutella.. Amazing! Took the family and they all loved it. Food was slow to arrive but very busy place. Kids were kept amused watching the pizzas being made on the big screen and trying to guess if he was making ours. Food was beautiful! Will return.
Horshack
Would have to be the best traditional pizza restaurant in Geelong. Great italian style pizza and love the whole italian ambience with the waiters. Like a D.o.C equivalent in Geelong just not as good
Goodfood,greatcoffee
Pizza, pasta, kids fish & chips all terrific. To top it off Nutella and strawberry calzone. Service and staff were good. A little slow, but the place was packed. And I now know why. Well worth it.
Hungrylikeawolf
Walked away feeling pretty unhappy with our service. We waited over half an hour for our coffees and cake and when asked about it, it became obvious that it had been forgotten. Coffees were good but an apology would not have gone astray. We were thinking about coming back for dinner the following night but subsequently decided against it after our experience!

Best italian in Geelong!. My favourite italian food in Geelong. Ricotta gnocchi is to die for!
Tukano_86
Eat , love , live italian. Went to this lovely venue over the weekend. Busting at it's seems! The owners looks to have spent a lot of money on the venue itself and it looks fantastic. Overall the service was ok not great but ok.i didn't come
To this place because I heard the service was great I came for the food... And it did
Not disappoint! I had a chilli avocado smash and my friend had the New York bagel. The bagel look Devine! My eggs were cooked. Perfectly ! It's not the cheapest place but you what you pay for so don't be scared away.'i happen to run into a chef on the way to the bathroom who happened to be the head chef. He was very friendly and even told me
The where I could
Purchase the bread he uses.he appreciated the complements he got and was very modest! What a gem! A+++ Two sugars well done!!!!!
Jodie
Heard so much about this place and was totally disappointed I ordered pancakes with banana and candied walnut and vanilla ice cream... The pancakes tasted like cake mix, they were dry and the banana was a lazy excuse at caramelising! I didn't ask for my money back as the chef obviously let this plate out of his kitchen with approval!!! Very disappointing ... Will not be visiting again
SDM
Wth did I just eat? 40-45 m.... Wth did I just eat?
40-45 min wait for two breakfast. Average taste for $16 egg and bacon roll served w side salad for breakfast?
Pancakes less than desirable. Caramelised bananas were barely browned on one side.
Chef should be ashamed to have this served.
Sorry two sugars pako but we will never meet again
LiveToEat
Unimpressed. My girlfriends and I met for lunch at this beautiful , rich in tradition cafe/restaurant. We sat in a lovely booth seat right up the back. It was nice however we heard a lot from the kitchen and conversations had. At first I enjoyed the friendly staff service and was greeted as soon as we entered the cafe. However I was dissapointed to see (what I imagine is the boss), speak to a staff member in a very very poor maner infront of our table and a few others surrounding. I understand I do not know what the situation was but from my view, that seemed very unprofessional. I was there to have a lovely lunch and instead saw a staff member (who had served us in a lovely manner) crying and been sent out of the restaurant!
Food was lovely but then service was VERY slow, as they were now understaffed.
I do like this place but as I said, unimpressed with the lack of professionalism.
William Brown
It is outrageous to wait 45 minutes for two breakfast plate

Meals at two sugars are affordable
And pleasant but I must say it's the staff that create the atmosphere with their
European ways so pleasant

Fantastic!! Finally an authentic Italian restaurant in Geelong. Great fresh food. Excellent professional and friendly service. Reasonably priced. Nice ambience. Could compare favourably with any top Italian restaurant In Melbourne . Well done guys!!!!

Literally awesome. I've been there last night with my wife, bar service very fast. Food so tasty and the cappuccino at the end was gorgeus. thanks guys, finally an authentic italian restaurant in Geelong.
Geelong Diner
Spectacular service. I've eaten here a few times (check my last review) and it's been wonderful.
Last week my cousin and I were doing our Pakington Street walk and I couldn't help but pop in to show her this great find.
We weren't in for a meal, I just wanted to show her this gem of a place, so she could peruse the menu and pass on the quality of this place to her friends too.
The owner/manager(?) greets me with the most beautiful smile and a bit of a hug and tells my cousin "this is one of our lovely locals".
I left beaming and blushing and thought to myself - if I ever run a restaurant - I will treat every customer like that.
What a joy it was just to walk in here. :)
Can't wait to dine here again.

-----14 Oct, 2014-----

Drool..... OMG, I love this place.
The waiters are dreamy, but, yes, let's get to the food.
I've never really liked pizza but the pizza here is Sicilian style. And it's just delicious.
Thin base, with a well organised topping of well, pretty much what you want. First time I had a traditional tomato based pizza; second time a lamb one. Both were so well executed now I'm a fan.
The service is impeccable and it was a real experience, as dining out should be. Even when you're eating with your fingers. I loved it.

Fantastic!. Such welcoming staff, great lighting and attentive service. Very nice meals and the price is excellent. Located in a very central part of Pako. We will be back! Very Happy.

My family and I class 2 Sugars as our 'second home'!. Aside from the scrumptious menu, the staff are just gorgeous, and can never do enough to make us comfortable and satisfied. The manager, Daniel, will always make an effort to greet us and other patrons and always ensures that we are being tended to. Overall, 2 Sugars offers an authentic Italian atmosphere - and spot-on coffee to top it off!

Good coffee, lovely staff.. The Vincotto coffee was great and the staff were lovely. Will go back again.
DEVOUR
Where's the flavour????. Went for lunch a few weeks back, absolutely packed! Got shoved on the front window squished up next to a large table of LOUD ladies. I ordered the risotto and my partner the gnocchi. Considering the owners are Italian, we thought we were in for a real treat. How wrong we were! B L A N D ! My risotto was so tasteless, I added a very unhealthy amount of salt and pepper which didn't help! My partners gnocchi was fluffy and delightful, we were later told that they were made from ricotta! That would the one and only good thing about the place. It was too loud, too packed, too long to be served (maybe because of where we were sitting). No flavour in the food at all, so very disappointed. Won't bother to return, tastier Italian at La Porchetta...and cheaper!
Maria Evangelakos Gogov
Just left this place - ordered lasagne which menu stated had bechamel - no bechamel on my plate - chef insisted it was between the sheets - management had absolutely no apology --- seafood linguine was bland like eating oil on a plate -- their ignorance even after telling them how unhappy we were --- was appalling!!!! Paid $50
For what??? Rubbish!!!
Yumm Yummmmmm
Two sugars on Pako is great! If your after authentic fresh Italian food this is a must! Book ahead as it's always busy. The Italian waiters and bartenders are great! Fast efficient and very entertaining. Best Italian Restaurant in Geelong!

Busy busy! So the first .... Busy busy!

So the first thing to know is this place is always packed! So book a table... It's also very loud do not go here to have an intimate meal! Go here to have a delicious gormet pizza and down a few lovely glasses of wine with your chatty girlfriends!

It might take a smidge to get your meal but it is worth the wait, having to wait does not at all take away from the meal or the staff, who are very attentive and always smiling. Thank you and Enjoy!
