I love this place, especially for the food. I can recommend the chicken & waffles with candied bacon, its the best. Also, I can recommend their pulled pork! Great atmosphere, music and bands. Very friendly and helpful staff. Make sure to book a table especially on weekends, it was easy with their online booking. Can't wait to go back!! :-)

Last night was the second visit to Pistol Petes. I came back to watch the band play Chuck Berry. I was not disappointed in the slightest. Firstly i was made to feel very welcome buy the door staff. Then Pete had a chat to me and made me feel more welcome. Then the waitress that was on that night was so welcoming also. The entire night was fantastic. The band was amazing. Ill give a A+++++++
Ill definitely be going back more often.
Pistol Petes is the place to go if you want to feel Welcomed, not only by Pete but also by all the other patrons...the music is always fantastic (and usually free) You will have a great night out...

Had a green hamburger which was yum! Really enjoyed the blues music. Shame people on other side of wall were so loud as to b intrusive and disrespectful of artist.

Quirky southern USA style cafe. Nicely located on Little Malop Street which is undergoing an impressive rejuvenation. The cafe is full of all sorts of interesting southern and American style adornments. Also, there was great music playing. Overall itβs a fun place with great inside and outside areas.
I chose the gumbo bowl and corn bread. It was a cracking dish. Spicy and full of flavour with a lovely tasty sausage. It really packs a punch and is a mighty dish. Better than any gumbo Iβve had in Melbourne. My companions enjoyed their dishes too, two burgers and one rice dish.

I was expecting it to be a serve of bites of fried chicken & fries, topped with sauce. Instead, it was fries topped with bites of chicken which had been soaked in an intensely hot marinade. Boy did they have a kick! (So it was actually quite nice to have the fries not covered in the same sauce!)

An enjoyable meal with friends here. I ordered the fried chicken with sides of fries, coleslaw and cornbread. The slaw was a good and needed compliment to the chicken. Cornbread was decent but not as sweet as some I have had in the States.
I have to be honest that the chicken did not look great when it came on the plate. It was well seasoned however and was pretty well cooked. The meat was moist and succulent. There are no bones in the chicken that made for easy work by knife and fork (or your hands if you prefer to eat it that way!). It went down pretty easy along with a beer.
One regret though - not ordering waffles to go with the chicken!
Pistol Pete's made me miss soul food from the States and was a pretty good feed that took me back down memory lane!

Had a really great time here, music and atmosphere is nice and lively. Food was nice, I had the chicken and waffles admittedly I've never had anything like it before so it wasn't amazing but tasty enough. Chips are to die for however! Great service and will come back to try something different.

Love it. This spot is ideal to drop into before a show or a movie and then return for a cold beer and some good old fashioned live music. The kind we used to hear in pubs. The food is tantalising and generous. I had never had gumbo before but, if this is how it should taste, then I will be having more. Next time I will be trying the southern fried chicken which looks so good. The staff are friendly and not in your face. Book a table if you are arriving after 7pm.

Friday night meal with the boys, great atmosphere, like what they've done with the place. Laid back feeling with a live band playing smooth blues. Best setting to have a burger and a beer with a few mates. The mojo burger with a generous serving of cajun fries was a big meal. Very tasty and all the elements were done perfectly, cannot complain!
Came here for a birthday lunch celebration. I'd love to come back again at night when they have live performances! The food was cooked to perfection. My partner commented that the food tasted just like authentic Deep South cuisine. The sweet and fruity Purple Haze beer was also delicious. It's so great to have a place like this in Geelong! Looking forward to going back.
Have been here a couple of times now. It's hard to get a table, but there's definitely a reason for that! The food has been great both times we have been there, and although service has been a bit slow, that's because there are so many people in there. The atmosphere is great and the staff make up for the slow food service with their amazing attitude and friendliness.
We ate here with our family of 6 and everyone loved it. The food is sensational, serving sizes were big, and the price is really good. Has a very relaxed vibe, the only negative was that we felt a little squashed at our table. Wished we had a later sitting so we could have enjoyed the music. Would definitely recommend this place.
I got the tofu burger, the tofu seasoning was amazing and there was a beautiful amount of sauce, the Cajun chips were cooked perfectly and the Cajun seasoning was delicious! The staff were also very lovely.

Love the different styles of fries and the burgers and sandwiches could feed an army. Who will then lay down their weapons and party because they're too blissed for battle.
Pete's home-cooked tastes and attitude make this my favourite place to grab a bite or a brew in Geelong. Folks are friendly and if you catch a meal while the musicians are at play, your senses will get an extra kick.
Great food, Great Music, Very friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Looks like the are expanding too. If you like a little spice I can recommend the gumbo. I also think these guys make the best fried chicken in Geelong.

Very cheap food! Hand never tried any of this food before. I got the tasting platter to have a bit of everything but next time would just get pulled pork meal. Would want to go back when they have the live music going.
Had a great time here for a mate's birthday. Terrific fried chicken. Cajun fries with pulled pork also great. Friends loved the jambalaya and the tasting plate. So much food! Good selection of local and US beers. Later on a 2 piece band playing dirty southern blues were damn good fun!

Prob the best aspect was the relative cost to all this compered to other places.

WOWEE!. Pistol Pete's is *AMAZING* - both in value and taste, this is really highly recommended. Freshly cooked and very tasty food - just what I am craving in Geelong. I had the jambalaya (VERY tasty) and my husband had the pulled pork roll. I think I'll get that next time as it was delicious. We had fried chicken and it wasn't crispy but maybe that's how it's supposed to be?
Either way, we will be back! I can't wait to try more.

A taste of southern has arrived, and it's awesome.. Pistol Pete's, a fantastic find in Geelong, great flavours only made better by the great atmosphere, and delightful host. Tried the tasting plate, with a side of pulled pork, all was fantastic. I can hardly wait for another excuse to drive down from Melbourne, and explore the menu some more.

Holy Moley!. I've walked past Pistol Pete's a few times lately and kept thinking I should go back for a closer look. Today I did, and I was definitely not disappointed.
I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy to takeaway, which came out as a large roll stuff with deep fried shrimp, tomato, lettuce and thousand island dressing, alongside a pickle and Cajun fries. I was pretty amazed at how much food came out for only $12.50.
The po' boy was delicious, with lovely spice in the shrimp batter and dressing, and a generous hand with the vegetables. I decided to abandon most of the roll so I could eat more of the chips, which were generously seasoned - although I personally would have preferred them slightly more crispy (same goes for the shrimp). The pickle was a great crunchy contrast to the rest of the meal. In general I thought it was a really good meal, although the proportion of fried components and salt was probably not the best choice for me.
I'm definitely planning on going back for food and blues, although I probably wouldn't order the Shrimp po' boy again. This is mostly because there were so many other great things on the menu!
Great food and conversation. I just popped in after getting a filling. Even though I couldn't feel my mouth this place intrigued me so I stopped in. The place smelled great and menu looked simple but good. I ordered the pork roll with chips takeaway and ended up chatting with the owner while my food was made. I could tell he's really into his food and making a good product and it showed when I was able to get into the pork. Despite only being able to feel with 1/4 of my mouth i still had to make sure i finished the sandwich. I couldn't finish the chips even though they were great. It was a lot of really good food for 12.50. I'd highly recommend it and maybe see you there in the next few weeks.
Authentic New Orleans food, great concept. First time, Wednesday night, six of us (4 adults, 2 kids), New Orleans theme night. Fantastic music playing over the speakers, first impressions were great. Greeted immediately. The venue is bigger on the inside that it looks from the street. I have just returned from working in New Orleans, so my expectations were high! My gumbo was excellent, with a rich flavour and the right amount of heat, and the ingredients were delicious. My shrimp was lovely, served with a whole pickle (yumm!!!), and my wife's pulled pork was moreish. Everyone on our table was pleased with their food, even after a slight mix up with one of the orders. Great range of beers in the fridge, including some local brews. I thought the food was spot on and tasted exactly like what you get in New Orleans itself... so pleased to see something new, fun and original in Geelong, and I can't wait to return on a weekend night when there is some live blues happening.
