Great food and generous size. Place is clean. I also like how the lady with dark hair checked We are fully vaccinated.
We had a really great time and was enjoying the food until one of the waitresses (the taller and bigger one with light hair colour) suddenly appeared, picked the tissue my baby dropped on the floor and placed it on my husband's plate and wanted to take the plate away! She did this very quickly to clear our table. Hubby told her that he was still eating the chips then she just took the tissue off and walked away expecting us to eat the chips with that tissue she placed from the floor? Really? That was shocking and annoying 😒. She was very rude. We were slowly eating and chatting away and still had a lot of food on other plates and was shocked with what she did.
Before she entered the kitchen she looked back and saw our shocked face and did not even apologise. It's a shame how she can turn the place down with her personality.
Apart from that all other staff were nice and food was great! We didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive. Kids meal were also sumptuous. 👌
I hope the owner can read my review and give my feedback to the staff as it is important for customers to have good experience.
Excellent quality meals, plentiful servings at a fair affordable price. Lovely atmosphere, very comfortable. Staff were welcoming, helpful and warm. Would particularly like to thank Renaee for her impeccable service, she went above and beyond to accommodate us and it was greatly appreciated! Will highly recommend The Sir Charles Darling Hotel to friends and family, and we will definitely be coming back in future! 10/10
Had a lovely lunch catching up with extended family.
Lovely service and meals were brought out quickly. All meals were enjoyed! My only negative was the salad greens without any sort of dressing to help freshen them up a bit
As far as pub meals go ... this was in the upper end of great.
Reasonably priced and very tasty meals. We also only booked 30 mins prior and they managed to accommodate our table of 8 people.
Menu also has some vegan friendly meal options ... (hard to come by when we were searching where to eat).

My partner and I come down for a meal tonight and I had the porterhouse and she got the parmi… best pub meals we have had in a long time.
The steak was cooked perfectly and wasn’t fatty at all
The chicken was juicy on the inside and the crumb was nice and crispy

The staff were friendly and welcoming. We both enjoyed our meals. The vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly. Loved the intimate but not crowded atmosphere. Highly recommend.
The Sir Charles Darling is a great place for excellent food, which is inclusive of everybody's budget. It's family friendly and the staff are very experienced with service, being prompt, very efficient and great at looking after the children at the table. I recommend you go visit this hotel you will be surprised.
