Atmosphere was great, service was good it was hard as they were quite busy when we got there but they were very attentive, food was sensational (best vegan breakfast I’ve had since being vegan) the flavours all went together and the coffee was great also. Recommend any one that wants all options Omni, gluten free & vegan options available.
I would like to see a vegan pancake option in the future or a vegan burger of sorts. Will watch the space!
From the time we walked in until the time we left, everyone was friendly and eager to serve!
Our server was amazing! Our food was fresh and the best we've had at any cafe in a very long time. 10/10
OMFG! The best Belgian Waffle I have ever had with Nutella and strawberries..
Amazing coffee too...
You have to try this place, atmosphere is fantastic with great tribes and very friendly staff.
Will be back. Thankyou.
Amazing! Great service and super amazing food... complements to the chef! Thank you
Loved my breakfast - roasted mushrooms were really tasty and thick lashings of caramelised belly pork instead of thin bacon rashers. Yummo!
Fabulous food, great coffee and friendly and prompt service! Will definitely be calling in here again!
This is first time ever I have tried #Coffee of #Freckleduck, and the test of that has brought feelings on my head!! Amazing staff and Cafe!! Cheers guys

One of the best coffee i ever had in my life friendly staff
🎃 roasted pumpkin
🌽 sweet corn & parmesan fritter
🏚: Freckle Duck
📍: Geelong, VIC
————————————————————
📝: Cute little cafe in Geelong’s CBD. With friendly staffs, exceptional coffee, and gourmet food, it’s the perfect place to grab breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
❤️: Absolutely loved the Roasted Pumpkin with chive yoghurt, baby kale, nuts, and spinach and kale pesto on toast. The Sweet Corn Fritters looked amazing. It came with fresh tomato salsa, jalapeño mayo, avocado, and snow pea tendrils.
One of the best brunches I’ve had! The smashed pumpkin was heavenly! Generous portion and heaps of added extras taking it to the next level. My friend had the chili scramble which she loved to. An entire chorizo on top! We didn’t try the coffee but for the food alone I will be back. Sensational!
We tried few of the recipes today and i would say, they have great mouth watering taste. I m from wodonga and loved this cafe in Geelong. I would encourage everyone to try must atleast once. No regrets. Best service as well. Definitely will come again.
We were invited down to Geelong last weekend to enjoy some lunch at a great café called Freckleduck. It’s located on the corner of Malop Street and Yarra Street, Geelong.
They have a nice selection of dishes on their menu. We chose on our visit the Smashing Pumpkins, the Mexican Style Beef Brisket Burger and the Ricotta Hotcakes. We also ordered a coffee each and smoothie to share. They both came out in good time. The smoothie was freshly made and had a lovely flavour.
The Smashing Pumpkins had lots of lovely flavours. It was a beautifully plated dish and tasted really good. Loved the pumpkin with the poached eggs and feta.
The Mexican Style Beef Brisket Burger. The brisket just melted in your mouth. It was nicely stacked to almost overflowing with the brisket too. A sensational café burger 10/10.
The Ricotta Hotcake was a very pretty dish. It was nice and soft and perfectly cooked throughout.
It was busy when we visited but we were lucky to get a nice table by the window.
We noticed the meals took a while to be served (30 minutes). That could be because there was only one chef in the kitchen.
All meals presented well though, it all smelt great, and were so tasty.
Price and quality of food was fantastic. We would visit again.
We thank Freckleduck for our lunch. All of our opinions are genuine and are based on our experience at the time of our visit.
Awesome food, awesome coffee and very awesome service. Nice place to sit and spend time.
Best brisket burger after long time.
We came here on a weekend trip to Geelong. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food came out quite fast. We both enjoyed the dishes we ordered.
The baked eggs was delicious and the burger. Coffee was perfect and strong to taste. The bacon was the highlight, thick and tasty! The bread was butter and seasoned well with herbs. Staff were so friendly as well.
Just a gal from Melbourne who luckily picked an amazing brunch spot in Geelong.
Ordered:
🍳 Chilli scrambled eggs (vo): tomato, spring onion, coriander, grilled asparagus, romesco, chilli and cheese kransky, served on multigrain ($19.50)
+ 🐟 smoked salmon ($6.00)
Review:
Full of flavour and fun, this chilli scrambled egg is better than the ones I've had in Melbourne CBD.
Okay so it wasn't spicy, but having grilled asparagus, KRANSKY and delicious buttered toast for less than $20 was an absolute steal.
For something masquerading as a cheese kransky, there was a lack of cheese which made me a little sad. Nonetheless, it still made for a very solid meal!
The presentation for all the dishes was something brunch places should aspire to. With floor to ceiling windows, natural light permeated the space which gave the photos a beautiful natural glow. It looked good in real life and in camera!
Such a nice place in Geelong. Loves the pics on the wall. The beef burger is very yummy and tasty so different. Friendly staffs. The place is include inside or outside, window sight also available.
Nice little corner store in central Geelong. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. The menu is small but there are some nice brunch options and the coffee is decent. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
Super friendly service here.
And great coffee.
Food presentation are great, even though there was a bit salty, but come on, this is Australia:)
Will come back again for sure.
Highly recommended.
One of the best Cafes in Geelong! Food was very tasty, with lots of flavour! Loved it.
We sat facing the street, people watching.
Great spot for a chilled and relaxing meal.
When did you get so gosh darn charming Geelong? Then again you could throw a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds over most things and I'd be thrilled.
We stopped here on our way home for some lunch. We had the waffles and baked beans, with flat whites to wash it all done ( to be honest the food washed the coffee down ;) ).
The baked beans were amazing and the waffles just superb. The coffee wasn’t to our taste. It lacked the body, texture and flavour that I like.
Absolutely love this café - the coffee is fantastic, and so is the food, the cosy ambience and the warm service. Such a delight - I highly recommend it.
Enjoyed a delicious cuppa joe at freckleduck, we even mounted the curb on the way there because we knew how good the coffee was going to be haha. All road safety aside the coffee was actually sooo good. 8/8
Great lunch!! We had 2 salads and they were both incredibly filling and tasty!
The little cafe is very warm, I felt for the staff working in front of their little fan!
Enjoyed my experience, and would definitely go back!
Lovely little restaurant with some delicious options - especially for vegetarians. We shared two different veg salads and had a cold brew each. All were very delicious. Service was pretty good.
Very healthy food, we ordered the Quinoa pumpkin salad with pork slaw & lamb shoulder wrap with our coffee ☕️ . Lovely flavours and ingredients. Great place to chill and have a lovely get breakfast or lunch.
I've always been impressed with their menu. Love their different food options and they make a good coffee too. Have not been disappointed here.
Best place in Geelong. Ordered the Korean beef cheek and it knocked me for 6. Service was on point, food came out in no time. Full credit to the chef
Freckleduck is located in prime location in busy central Geelong. From the exterior this cafe appears to be another familiar cog in a coffee and food machine in Geelong and Melbourne. However the interior of the cafe is stylish and inviting.Designers have made great use of window space by includung bench seating. This adds to the cafes appeal by allowing customers to look out onto central Geelong streets.
Coffee blend was neautral in flavour not delving too far into the bitter side of the ledger. Will definatly be back to try the selection of beagles or muffins on offer.
This place is really cosy and the staff are super friendly! My friend and I stopped by and decided to try a random cafe, and it turns out to be one of the best I've ever been too! I ordered this braised beef burger - and it literally became my favourite burger of all times. The braised beef was just right and it was coupled with the shops specialty sauce and cheddar cheese - AMAZING! The side of mac and cheese was legit as well, best I've ever tasted! I wanna come back here again!
Service:
- Friendly but slow staff
Food and drinks:
- Ordered a mocha and croissant
- Croissant tasted fine but a bit hard
- Coffee was fine
Overall Feel:
- Lovely deco
- Loved how bright the cafe was
- Considering the size of the cafe, it didn't feel cramped
So much effort goes into the flavour of the entire menu. I LOVE it when food just " works". One of those places where you feel like annoying the kitchen staff for recipes , ( but I dont/ wouldn't because they are always busy). Great to have a place to go and be guaranteed sensational, innovative food.
Freckleduck is a small humble cafe located on the conner of Malop street in the heart of Geelong. With limited seating out the front that provides shade by umbrellas, from the outside the vicinity looks to be of a decent size but the interior is much smaller than expected. With a few larger communal tables in the centre, bar stools along the window with finally little tables for 2 filling in the rest of the space nicely, craft a cosy comforting environment.
After a morning exploring the lovely scenic Eastern beach we where in need of a refreshing lunch and Freckleduck seemed to be a popular spot as people where occupying the seats out the front whilst a few others where enjoying this cafes fine food inside. We where greeted by a young enthusiastic waitress who gestured for us to sit any where we like and we chose to sit towards the back next to the window on cushioned seats.
Menus where placed in front of us and whilst we explored the small yet trendy menu, a long black was ordered with much anticipation noting that the famous 5senses is Frecklducks bean of choice. The long black arrived steaming hot and in mouth watering fashion. The brew was acidic and fruity with a sweet taste that lingered on the palate.
After analysing the modernistic menu we went for the buckwheat and apricot granola and the classic smashed avocado. Our meals arrived in a timely fashion looking spectacular. The avocado smash with beetroot hummus, goats cheese, toasted seeds, seeded sourdough, rocket, lemon and an added poached egg was presented very differently from the classic that we have all become accustom to as it was served in a bowl. The sourdough was toasted to perfection, nice and crunchy on the outside yet soft in the centre soaking up the beautifully gooey egg yolk. The beetroot hummus was the standout as it added a sweet taste to the dish marrying well with the creamy avocado and tart goats cheese.
The buckwheat and apricot granola with housemade granola, honey and date labneh and chai spiced pears with my preference of almond milk was equally as gorgeous. It was plated with care, respecting each ingredient equally ensuring its presence was not over shadowed by others. The date labneh was amazing. It was thick and creamy with large chunks of sweet dates folded through. The buckwheat and granola filled with seeds nuts and dried apricot added crunchy and chewy textures and absorbed the almond milk well. Lastly the chai spiced pears could not have been poached any better. They remained the shape and texture not turning into a soggy mess on the plate when cut open. The chai flavour was pungent ensuring the flawless and filling dish was not to sweet..
Freckleduck is an outstanding cafe in Geelong that serves trendy meals and great coffee in a relaxing environment. The staff are friendly and the service is great overall delivering a great dining experience.
Sunday morning brunch. Thought we'd struggle to find a free table but there was lots of room. Sat at the central, communal table. Staff were wonderful. Food was quick and plated beautifully. Serves were generous.
Quick and delicious! The granola is great but the yoghurt served with it is THE BEST! So thick and creamy with dates through it! They gave us lots of extra on the side which was fantastic customer service! Coffee is good here too!
Great little find in Geelong. Super friendly service. Quick to take orders and deliver. 80s music playing this particular Monday morning. My friend loved his bacon and egg brekky with the waffle and creamed corn. He went on to say "best bacon ever". I had the avo, beetroot hummus, dukkah and goat cheese with toast added and egg. Soo fresh tasty and filling. And my double shot latte was good too. So many delicious sounding options to try on their menu it was hard to choose just 1.
Randomly dined here during our day trip to Geelong and we were really happy with the food and service. Good portions size and delicious food. We both walked out satisfied.
Love all day breakfasts anywhere and this place is a cut above thr rest. Thick maple bacon, delicious smoked salmon (I must find out their supplier) and amazing seeded sourdough and gf bread. The only reason I didn't give it a 5? No high chairs and their service isn't the best. 😃
A tiny little corner cafe that absolutely delivered on a Sunday afternoon. Ate the potato and leek rosti and the balance of flavours was excpetional!
Tiny unsuspecting place in Geelong. Coffee selection was good and made wonderfully. Food was delicious and full of flavour. Had the peanut butter and jelly waffles and the poached eggs with maple bacon and smashed pea and avocado. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the maple bacon was amazing! Service was quick and attentive. Great lil spot.
Geelong and gourmet are not often used in the same breath. Sure, if you walk down the average street and try to find a great coffee and breakfast you might be disappointed. But a bit of research goes a long way. The night before we were wandering around on a quiet Wednesday and spotted Freckleduck during our travels. With some confirmatory Google searches we gave it a try the very next morning.
It is casually fitted out with comfortable furnishings; old light wooden tables in particular, with the stripped back brick wall providing a bit of pizzazz. The staff are friendly and there is a nice feel. There are several dishes on the menu that sound excellent.
Nice coffee and atmosphere. Had the maple bacon waffle and the prawn tortilla. Both were nice, though the tortilla was a tad too tangy and cold for my taste. Still it's overall a good experience
Amazing little cafe in Geelong, friendly service and the food totally hit the spot.
Ordered a lamb shoulder Kim chi salad and a Soy chai.
Portions of Lamb in the salad were generous and tender. Definitely will come back to try the buttered prawn and chorizo tortilla.
There's a lot of good sounding cafes in Geelong. I think it's doubtful that I'll get to most of them but from what I've read a lot seem to be in West Geelong (such as the awarded King of the Castle). Since I was based in the central area I looked a little closer and came across a funky sounding Freckleduck (the others being Cafe Go and Launch Espresso).
The blueberry ricotta pancake was by far the best i have ever had! Light, fluffy and presented beautifully. The service was also great.
The coffee on the other hand was cold and awful. The waiter graciously gave me another, it was hotter but still awful.
Come here for coffee with a friend, I had the cold brew and it was fantastic! The service was great! And the staff really friendly. We came back the next day for lunch and the food did not disappoint! One of the best Cafes I've been to in Geelong!
Really nice place for a quick stop in lunch, mexican chicken salad was a very big serving and tasted delightful. The spicy jalapeño dressing with the red quinoa and juicy corn made this salad the bomb.
One of the better cafés in Geelong which kickstarted our Warnambool adventure. This place serves 5 Senses coffee which I personally like. Service is prompt and friendly. Ambience is decent and comfortable without being outstanding. No high chair for baby. Also lacked patisserie choices.
The most interesting thing on the menu is the 12hr slow cooked lamb in a salad of kale leaf and Mediterranean yogurt. Absolutely spot on. Succulent flavorful meat with crunchy kale and some rice like pasta (sorry too busy eating to check menu).
Unfortunately the FD Bacon & Egg didn't do it for me. Wonderful thick cut glazed bacon and perfectly done poached eggs on a sweet waffle....everything is perfect until my fork reach the creamed corn which spoils everything. The taste just doesn't go. And it's canned cream corn. I'll stop here before I over criticize.
Overall...a decent with potential.
First time today at FD. Coffee great. Poached eggs delicious. Sides generous in proportion and well priced. Thick cut maple bacon was VERY nice. Lamb shoulder salad was good too. Will be back.

Food here is amazing! Highly recommend the FD bacon & eggs. Thick cut maple glazed bacon on corn bread with poached eggs & creamed corn. Or for a lighter option, the beetroot & mint rosti, with smoked salmon & dill crème friache is lovely. Coffee is also very decent.
This is out 3rd time here & we drive 30mins to get here...so the food is good!!!
However...have some spare time to kill. The service is very slow.
Nice food and people, reasonable price as well! Ordered avocado crush, bacon and eggs (on waffles) and blueberries and ricotta cheese hot cake. For drinks we had soy chai and iced chocolate. They used mork chocolate which is a really nice brand with rich taste. Nice view from the window too!
I'm a regular customer at Freckleduck, when I want a brunch on weekends there is no better spot in Geelong so I have no doubt and I keep going back. The menu includes many options both for breakkie and lunch and most of them are either vegan/vegetarian or can be made suitable for, as well as GF, so they definitely look after the dietary requirements of their customers. As for the food it is simply delicious and healthy, it's even hard to decide when you work your way through the menu and the presentation of each dish is worth every single dollar you are paying for it. Coffee is great, the barista is really skilled and I don't really miss my italian coffee when I'm here.
When it comes to the staff, well, they really stand out: they make you feel home and they look so passionate for what they are doing that it would be hard not to feel good in this place.
Kudos to the whole team, I would strongly recommend this cafe to you.
Things not to be missed out: the pumpkin and lentils salads as well as the raw bircher with coconut milk and yougurt which really suits my dietary requirement since unfortunately I have to avoid dairy and gluten as much as I can, otherwise I would be indulging in the ricotta pancake every time, it looks just amazing.
Great little place. Very friendly, efficient, cool vibe. Had the smashed avo & poached egg. Was delish. Husband had eggs & bacon with corn bread....interesting combo which all worked well together. Great coffee. Well done - we will be back.
Great coffee, great food and great service. Had the smashed avocado with a poached egg and my partner had the ricotta and blueberry hotcakes which were very well presented and generous servings. The only suggested improvement would be to have a kids breakfast menu.
Whenever im in town I always call into Freckleduck. The staff are friendly and their coffee is perfect! Great for take away coffee and snack, or for a delicious dine in breakfast/lunch!
By far one of favourite cafes in Geelong!
Had a wonderful meal here. I chose the Maple Bacon with Poached Eggs & Chilli Cornbread. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the sweetness of the bacon with the heat of the bread worked so well together. It was rich though. Coffee was also good and service quick. Hoping to return again soon.
Great Café to stop in at on the way to the coast! All our food was unreal & the Coffee is the best I've had in Geelong/Melbourne. See you soon Mr Freckleduck!
Awesome cafe, Melbourne's best in the heart of Geelong. Check out the coffee machine. Great spot. Love the espresso mascarpone toast and the iced chai latte
Great breaky and perfect coffee after a busy week working down in Geelong. Crushed avo was epic and the single origin from Ethiopia was great. Cheers guys 10/10:)
We went out for breakfast a few weeks ago, had the poached eggs with maple bacon and corn bread, so good. They use 5 senses coffee, had a long black with their single origin. Was the best I've had in a while.
Delicious! Went here for breakfast and had the slow cooked pork and salmon rosti. Both were fantastic. Coffee was ok but great fast service. Will be going back next time I'm in the area.
Pulled Pork Benedict. Was perfect for my late brunch. Delicious moist saucy pulled pork accompanied by apple slaw and beautifully runny poached egg on sour dough.
Great coffee, great food, great service! What more could you ask for? I visit Geelong regularly from Melbourne and wouldn't go anywhere else. Keep up the good work.
Morning Necessity. The Freckleduck is a clean and inviting shop where as I did, I browsed the selection of edibles on display and settled on a nice slice of Gluten Free Banana, raspberry cake and a Lattè. It was just what the Doctor ordered, I was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed the cake slice and the coffee was perfect. Thankyou
Freekeh Risotto. Tea smoked egg made an unusual but great addition!

Amazing food and coffee! Just what Geelong CBD needs
Amazing iced chai! Great vibe of ply wood shelving, exposed brick and industrial seating. Menu looks great too!
Accommodated for a group of 8, we were promptly seated inside and service was very friendly and patient with our group, particularly with some fussy eaters! Thank you to the waitress who was very helpful in explaining the menu and patient with changing orders around (like swapping full cream milk to oat milk)
Food was beautifully presented and a fair amount of healthy options on the menu.
Would recommend
Pros:
- Wonderful atmosphere
- Yummy, well presented food
- Great service (with a smile)
- Perfectly cooked poached eggs!
Cons:
- Only a small selection of gluten free food options
- A little pricey on some items ($8.50 for an OJ)
- Adds 10% surcharge for Sundays and 15% for public holidays

I was in town photographing a wedding, so by recommendation I came here. I wasn't disappointed, with a broad range on the menu with great pricing for the quality. I was welcomed at the door and seated straight away, but does fill up quick by mid morning. Must be the awesome coffee.
Went there specifically to try the eggs benny with beetroot Bernaise sauce, but sadly they changed menu, so me and my friends had to customize our own eggs benny. Regardless, it was good, with thick cut bacon, and even added avocados to it. Coffee was amazing as well! Defo worth coming back to
Awesome service and the oyster mushroom omelette was seriously the best omelette I've ever eaten. Delicious and so full of flavour. Washed down with jasmine pearl tea it was the perfect lunch/brunch.
Favorite place for brunch in Geelong. After a drive from Melbourne, we tried their newly launched Burger and baked beans. Burger was good and fresh, Baked beans were probably best I have tried so far. Definitely locked this place for next visit to Geelong.
Great food and coffee. Very friendly service. Got coffees at time requested although each different. Good location near shops and close to waterfront.
Brilliant Food by a fantastic chef. The staff at Freckleduck were very polite and accommodating. I would thoroughly recommend the Reuben and a long black. Keep up the great work guys!
