Great lunch specials in a just painted English pub type setting. No problems sitting in the bar area by a wood fire and watching the tv screens etc , a great ambiance exists in this pub , even Darren comes here to eat , so the food has to be good .Keep up the good work all staff and owner of this icon in Geelong.
My husband and I are regulars and absolutely love the food, ambience and the staff are second to none! I recommend this Hotel highly! The best in Geelong!!!
East Geelong Football and Netball club held our season launch at The Elephant who are also one of our major sponsors. The atmosphere, food, venue and staff were fantastic. Thanks to Marie and the crew.

Amazing meal great atmosphere highly recommend go back for another meal
Twosheds’ Geelong edition is taking off with another pub around the corner from the Commo, which we frequented on the Friday of the recent long weekend. The Elephant & Castle is a fantastic local pub near central Geelong. It’s owned by the out there former Mohawked mayor of Geelong. Eccentricity is the order of the day. The pub is a happening place adorned with the beautiful photo collection of the mohawked ex mayor. Great shots, with an emphasis on his favourite subject, Princess Diana. The food is standard pub grub, very well done. Think eggplant parmigiana and beer battered fish and chips. Friendly service and a good wine list too it off. Dixieland jazz bands on a Sunday add to the attraction. Lovely beer garden out the back for functions or general weekend chill outs is a bonus. Fantastic venue. It’s a 3.8 for me.
Beautiful and fresh seafood! Crispy chips! Delicious antipasto! A lovely nice pub that’s far better than the standard “pub” food. Can’t wait to return again!
Made a group booking for dinner recently. I booked for 7.00pm. Some members of the group arrived before me and they informed me that they had released our reserved table as we were considered a no show. They had me booked for 6.30pm. Had to wait approximately 45 minutes for our table to become available. Not a good start to the night. Meals were ordered and came out very staggered. I ordered the Roasted Cauliflower Salad. What I got did not match the description. I had a plate full of rocket with tiny bits of cauliflower, quinoa and chickpeas. Another member of the group ordered a salad with no dressing...the salad came dressed. When I contacted the venue re the booking/meal issue, they were very apologetic about the booking but with regards to the salad, apparently the cauliflower is supposed to be like cauliflower rice....this certainly wasn't mentioned in the description. I was expecting florets of roasted cauliflower.
Whilst the meals were described as OK to delicious by the other members in our group, I'm not sure I myself will return.
Great dinner for 4 tonite. Discerning guests and apprntly. a new menu. Starting platter was great a little heavy on capiscum and other boring veg. But Zucchini and Eggplant prawns Chorizo pretty impressive. 4 masons 2 Steaks and Chicken stuffed?? As well as calamari . . . 3 big passes Porterhouse was outstanding as were Cal and Eye Fillet. Stuffed Chicken was just ok. Greg service guy was brilliant Abbey friendly ... .we'll def. be back!
A family friendly place serving standard Aussie pub food which is done well. Good steaks with shoestring fries. Service is efficient and friendly.
Verdict: Common opal
We turned up unannounced with about 20 bikers and as we entered I thought we were going to be turned away however was greeted by a friendly bloke saying we were more than welcome to come in. Service was efficient, prices were spot on for both food and drink - Not a complaint out of our group, can't ask for much more really.
We went to the Elephant & Castle yesterday for lunch i have driven past do nany times its not funny and yesterday we had the opportunity to stop for a bit to eat. The staff were great couldn't be more helpfull and great with the kids the place had a really good atmosphere warm and friendly and clean. The food was very nice good size serves and fresh the kids meals were great. We will be back again next time we are in the Geelong area
Lazy Monday, couldn't be bothered cooking. Elephant was close by, good options. The sliders were awesome. I had 1x beef 1x chicken 1x pork and they were all really tasty simplistic but good. Thank god I didn't cook! Will come back for more in future. Would be good with cider
Both had steak sangas really good quality steak couldn't fault it. The staff really attentive and friendly even the good mayor was there talking away to the punters👍👍
Really good pub food. Generous portions. Great atmosphere and lovely beer garden. Good for kids and a fun trivia night on Wednesdays. Will definitely go back.
Delicious meal in the dining room. The lamb shoulder just fell apart, the salmon was perfectly cooked, & the sweet potato fries were amazing ! The waitresses were extremely attentive & nothing was too much trouble from the moment we walking in. They catered for my overly fussy son - creating him a burger to his requirements 😕 It was very refreshing especially since we had just walked out of the Lord Nelson.
Popped in for a quick bite. After a dress fitting with my Mum & sister at Bridal House we were starving! Such a cool place with all Darryn Lyon's photography hanging around, some very confronting but that's art. I ordered Mini Soft Tacos w/ twice cooked marinated
beef, tomato salsa, cheese, sliced avocado & sour cream for $12 They weer spicy and yummy. My family ordered sliders. - Wagyu Beef w/ mustard, cheese, lettuce, tomato & pickles $15& Pulled Pork w/ chipotle aioli & wombok slaw $15
Stop in if your in the area, we ate at the bar as the prices were better and thats were all the locals were hanging out watching the game on the big tellie. check it out!

Great Burger Sliders !!!. Came in on a Saturday night, I had the trio of burger sliders...one was pork, the other beef and a chicken slider. All were great, tasty and well priced. Had a great time afterwards with a four piece coverband playing...place was packed, friendly people and great vibe. Service good too !!!
The Black Angus was cooked perfectly. Meals are pricey for their size, unless you order a bar meal.

A very nice place and all the photographs are quite interesting had the chicken parmigiana and was excelent. 8.5/10 only negative point was the staff shouting instructions while walking past the tables
Would definatley recommend
Enjoyable. I really like this place. From the fabulous photos inside to the custom Red Gum and Iron tables in the beer garden, it's a nice classy, yet down to earth, pub. I've had - on different occasions the sliders, dips, and calamari.
The staff and patrons are friendly, the food is decent at a decent price (talking bar menu).
It's lovely out the back in the Spring weather, enjoying the sun shine and the vibe.
What more do you want from a pub?
Parmi Lover. Just had an eggplant parmi on the new menu at our local......thank you Elephant and Castle...love it love it love it. Hubby's favourite is still the Eye Fillet better than Parkers
Great Pub! Friendly staff, the bar meals are fantastic and really reasonably priced. My chilli calamari and my son's steak sandwich were both fantastic. Beer Garden looked great as well. Went on a Thursday Night and it was "seafood night" so might try that next time. Was busy but worth the wait for a table.
Disappointing food, bar meals better value than restaurant!!!
Impressive beer garden! Foods really good as well and reasonably priced!
The local. Pork roll is a must!
Great Steak Sandwich. Today's steak sandwich did not disappoint. It was an open steak sandwich and it hit the spot, not to big, not to small, just right. It was on the bar menu. It was reasonably priced at $17 and contained egg, bacon, cheese, caramelized onion and tomato relish. Served with chips. The chips were fresh and you could tell they came straight from the deep fryer . The venue is great, pics by Darren Lyons surround the walls. I recommend the steak sandwich.
Mensday at Elephant & Castle. The June edition of Mensday found us down at the Elephant and Castle Hotel on a cold and windy Wed night. In keeping with tradition we sat in the bar which was up to the standard of dining areas of many of the other hotels we have enjoyed in G'town and surrounds. The beer was cold and staff were excellent. The surprise of the evening was our discovery of weekly trivia - hosted by Johnno (I think). We were generous in our lack of correct answers thus giving the locals a chance at glory.
The business end of the evening involved steak and roast pork, the pork was amazing for bar food. The steak, requested medium rare was delivered as such and our neighbouring diners on the beautifully crafted share table had considerable 'plate envy'
We both left the Elephant very content with the aim to come and check out the dining room in the future as both felt that our meals rated in the excellent category.
Do yourself a favour and check out the Elephant and Castle!
Vibe: 8/10
Food: 9/10
Till next month, Mensday Evening
Great food, good service. You do have to wait quite a while for meals to come out but when they do, they are fantastic
Vegetarians don't dispair when looking at the restaurant menu, you just have ask for the vegetarian options and they have a (somewhat) hidden vegetarian menu! With gorgeous food! I'll be going back for sure.
Fantastic meal. I had the duck and my girlfriend the risotto. Certainly one of the best eateries in geelong. Service was brilliant and will visit again. Proved much much better than expected.
Awsome food wonderful service always a pleasure to eat here would recomend eating in the bar to anyone
Just had the great Australian chicken parmi and it was sooo tasty. Pub has a nice atmosphere, best Guinness in town and it's within walking distance from my house. Absolutely brilliant.
Good honest food, value for money and the service was helpful and very friendly
