Review The Waterfront Kitchen - Geelong

Good place on the waterfront. Good childfriendly cafe on the waterfront in Geelong. Good fish and chips and great big breakfast. Great table service - we were very well taken care of.

This place is amazing, fresh amazing homemade baked goods. There is something for everyone, barista bar with grab n go sandwiches, toasties etc, a large servery with hot and cold meals available at a great price, and then the al a cart cafe. This place is a must.

Great food and extremely well priced. Lovely venue with foot path seating. Service could be a little more attentive however I just helped myself to cutlery so it wasn’t a deal breaker. Totally coming back!

Quick brekky stop on our daily walk around the bay. Always love it here. They cater for all meals and sizes and quality is always the same. Perfect!

Things have changed since the pandemic started so not many people here when I came here to get coffee on a Monday morning. Nice ambience. I'm a Deakin alumni so love anything Deakin or near Deakin.

Pretty average. The food is never really warmed up enough. The chicken pesto toasty had the texture and taste of egg - weird. The price of food alongside the far wall is laughably expensive for a university campus cafe (e.g. $12+ for a falafal wrap) though apparently there is a 10% discount for staff and students. The drinks are good though - particularly the hot chocolate.

Perfect open space for meeting and coffee. Thankyou

Come here on the regular for a quick breakfast. Always consistent. Good coffee, pretty cheap, can't go wrong. Worth checking out if your in the area.

Horrible decor, toilets were like something you’d see in a third world country, tables and chairs horrible worn out plastic but they charge what you would expect to pay in a beautiful restaurant. Paying for the view of the water. Terrible coffee too.

Dropped in for breakfast while we waited for the daughters graduation. Staff were great, very friendly and attentive and even made sure the timing of our coffee order perfectly matched the arrival of our food. Poached eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked and delicious.

Came here just for drinks and cake, ordered toblerone cheesecake, it was good but not enough toblerone taste, ice chocolate was nice but way too sweet, hot chocolate was too sweet as well and coffee was okay, overall its okay but didnt try their food, the view is good though from the outdoor seating, you could see the helicopter flying away.. and their service was good too.

The café, which is part of Deakin University, is located in a big bright room, with plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the water. The service was very friendly and fast. We placed our orders and talked through the race, while enjoying the view, our coffees and a refreshing juice. My friend Pete, who ran with me got the Waterfront kitchen big breakfast, which consisted of two free range eggs, toasted sourdough, grilled bacon, sausages, baked beans, sautéed spinach, tomato relish. A breakfast for champions with all the essentials anyone could need after a big night our or in this case a big race! Em chose the grilled sweet corn fritters with smashed avocado, two poached free range eggs, sour cream, chive oil and fresh herbs...

Flavorsome breakfast at the Waterfront Kitchen in Geelong. Thoroughly enjoyed my $17 cheese & mushroom omelette this morning, the mushrooms were just so well cooked & had an absolutely beautiful flavour - really hit the spot. I found the staff attentive & very friendly. The atmosphere was bright & cheery and "a buzz" with customers. I enjoyed it so much I'll be returning in due course for more of the same.

Phill Jury (food critic & writer)

Bland. It was our first time to the restaurant and we were not sure if it was table service or we order at the counter. we had been seated for 10 minutes so asked if we go up to order. We copped a sarcastic barage of what's your hurry, you obviously have all day. I don't mind waiting when things are busy but there were 4 waiters and 3 were just standing around. Finally ordered a drink (our only drink as we never saw a waiter again) then our food. Food was bland. No seasoning at all. What I would expect from a food van on a Saturday night. Poorly cooked without care. very disappointed. Went to a near by competitor for more drinks and desert and eere treated like royalty. I know were we will go next time.

No wifi, seriously?. How can you be part of a uni catering to students and public in the cbd and not offer wifi? It's part of the same building!

I was told by a manager that they won't make it available for security reasons even if I was a student. If deakin can't protect it's internal wifi then it really shouldn't be teaching any IT courses.

Interestingly, last time I asked about wifi, the same person claimed she didn't know if they had it - yet they are managing?

Also, Coffee is overpriced for such an average quality.

Expected much more from this place. Food was ordinary, and overpriced. Bacon dry and over-cooked, I realise avocado is at a premium at the moment- but 2 slivers for 3 dollars is a total rip off. Eggs left yuck after taste. Wasn't impressed. Staff, however, were very pleasant and coffee was acceptable.

Decent price. Decent food. Terrible coffee. Skinny latte made with full cream milk, soy latte weak and cold. Food was tasty, don't bother adding sides - overpriced for the tiny additions. Would recommend for light brunches, not for big hearty brekkies.
Green Gourmet Giraffe
There is a cafeteria service and a waiter service area. Sylvia had chips, as usual. My dad chose soup from the cafeteria but I was tempted by the pumpkin fajitas ($18.90) on the menu.
